Welcome to my Insectron Guide.  I decided to make this guide because of my
interest in this particular mini-game with Rouge Galaxy.  But when I came
to GameFAQs to find helpful information, there was no Insectron Guide, just
a very large message board thread with people promising to make a guide,
of as of this writing they haven't.  I have used many of the posts on the
board to help me get this guide going, and I plan to do many more searchings
of my own through the game, but for the time being this is going to rely on the
help of people e-mailing me with things they've found or errors on this guide.
I can be reached at [email protected] with any and all questions, comments,
and concerns.  What I will not respond to are questions of 'where can I get
so and so?' because if it's not on here, I do not know.  But if you know where
something is that I don't, shoot me an email and when I put up on this guide,
you will be credited for it.

Types of Insectrons (000001)
----------------------------

The following are each of the family's of Insectrons organized from the lowest
rank to the highest rank.  Rank is not the same as level.  A level 1 Pseudo
Staggy (Rank 5) is not going to be the same as a level 5 Staggy (Rank 1).
Ranks 1-3 can be found in the field.  I have not yet found a rank 4 in the
field, but email me and correct me if you do with trap, bait, and location.
By breeding Insectrons together, the higher ranks can be obtained.

Breeding (000002)
-----------------

Breeding Insectrons is the only way, except for a few unique Insectrons, that
you can obtain the higher ranks of Insectrons.  Breeding is very simple.

First, you need an Insectron you would like to have a higher rank of.

Second, you need an Insectron, the type of this Insectron does not matter,
that is of a lower rank and of the opposite gender of your desired Insectron.

If no lower rank can be obtained, such as you have a rank 1 bombsnail you want
to breed, then you must take into account that if the ranks are the same, the
type of Insectron that the male is takes precedence.  So with your rank 1
bombsnail, if it is a male, you're all set to mate it with a rank 1 female.
But if it is a female, you need to go find either a higher rank bombsnail
female to mate with a lower rank male Insectron, or you need a male bombsnail.

Third, both Insectrons need to be adults.  By feeding them about 5-6 sanchez
fruits, this will be accomplished.

Fourth, both Insectrons need to be hungry.  This is denoted by the 'Satiety'
bar above their heads in the rearing cage.

Fifth, feed one of them the feed formula, which can be bought at the Insectron
Stadium, then choose the other one.  They will come together with hearts,
dissapear, and a new baby Insectron 1 rank higher than the highest rank of
dominant parent, which was explained above.

Locations (000003)
------------------

The following are where I and others have found Insectrons.  These will be
organized by planet, then type, then bait (if available).  These are not
necessarily the only bait/locations combos where you can catch these, so feel
free to experiment.  Also, if you send me an email about a Insectron location,
try to be as specific as possible.  Emails saying 'you can catch so-and-so
somewhere in this general vicinity' are not as helpful as 'you can catch
so-and-so at this point with this bait.'

Frequently Asked Questions (000006)
-----------------------------------

Q. What are Insectrons?
A. If you haven't gotten to Juraika yet, don't worry, you didn't miss anything.
Just before you get to the Burkaqua village, a small boy with brown spikey hair
will bump into you during a cutscene and give you a trap and rearing cage to
capture and house Insectrons.  Insectrons are pretty much just insects you can
capture, raise, and battle.

Q. Why would I want to raise Insectrons?
A. There is nothing about Insectrons that will prevent you from beating the game
if you choose not to participate in this particular mini-game.  It provides a
nice distraction if you are getting bored of following the red arrows to the
next checkpoint to just go set up a few traps and see what you can catch.

Q. How do I catch an Insectron?
A. You find the trap in your inventory, place some bait inside of it, then put
it on the ground pretty much anywhere.  5 minutes later, the infoedge will tell
you that something has happened to your trap.  You go back and find it and you
have either caught an Insectron, or one has sniffed the bait and left, or it
escaped with the bait.  It does not matter if you stand right there for 5
minutes of if you trek all over the map, 5 minutes is how long it takes.

Q. How do I breed Insectrons?
A. This was already taken care of above.  Scroll up and find it.

Q. Where can I catch so-and-so?
A. I'm not holding any info back from you.  If it's not on this guide, I have
not had confirmable proof that you can find something in a specific spot with
a specific bait and a specific trap.  Feel free to e-mail me
([email protected]) with your captures so this question can be put to rest.

Q. Where do I get the traps and rearing cages?
A. Trap I and Rearing Cage I are given to you by the spikey haired boy on
Juraika.  Trap II and Rearing Cage II can be bought at the Insectron Stadium.
Trap III and Rearing Cage III must be made at the Factory.  The designs can be
gotten from people in the Insectron Stadium, the ones with orange circles by
their names.  Trap III requires 6 myriad branches and a walkie-talkie and
