I. Introduction
This FAQ is for the great game, Okage: Shadow King, for the PS2. This is
also my first FAQ/Walkthrough, so bear with me. I'll do my best to
update and answer any questions asked. Contact me at
[email protected] and put in the subject line "Okage" and I'll get
back to you ASAP. Oh, and, if you're nice enough to send me compliments,
my real name is Em. CONSTRUCTIVE criticism is also accepted. If you want
to send me an email saying how much I suck, please say why. ^_^
II. Legal Stuff
I do not own Okage or the characters in it. Sony and Zener Works do.
You may use the walkthrough with my permission only, as long as you keep
it updated. I won't be sending out updates to any site except Gamefaqs.
Don't sell this, or I will SUE YOU FOR EVERY LAST PENNY IN YOUR PIGGY
BANK!!! This FAQ/Walkthrough may be printed for your own personal use.
III. Updates
Version 1.0-The first version includes everything I could possibly
include through the end of Chapter 4 of the game. Hopefully I'll get
through Chapter 5 (or even 6), in the next update.
Version 2.0-After a longggg Okage vacation (haven't you ever played a
game so much you just get SICK of seeing the characters?), I'm finally
back. And trust me, I'm very very sorry for everybody who wanted an
update. Hopefully I'll finish the whole walkthrough by the end of
summmer. This update includes a walkthrough up to chapter 5 and
everything else (shops, weapons, etc.) I get in chapter 5. Also a few
contributations. PLEASE don't send me anything more on the chest in
Pospos Snowfield on the island. I have enough emails on it. Thanks to
everyone who contributed. MUCH thanks to Silverleopard, who made an even
BETTER map for the Escapeless Abyss. Maps are very difficult to make,
and I'm very glad for this contributation! Thanks also go to Hello Boy
for emailing me about Marlene's compatibility gift, because in the game
I'm going through my compatibility doesn't seem to want to go down with
Stan. I also want to thank William Nelson and Anisa both for emailing me
on the fact that the Fruit Knife can be sold for 400 sukel instead of
just 300. I've also changed my email address because my family switched
over to AOL.
IV. Story & Characters
This is the story of Ari, a young boy growing up in the village of
Tenel. His destiny is to be swept away by an adventure that few could
envision, and ever fewer survive. The force that will drive Ari down
this perilous road is now his shadow.
Around Tenel and neighboring villages, ghosts sometimes creep out of the
dark forests to terrorize villagers. Some materialize into dangerous
beasts that ambush unwary wayfarers. The truly unlucky are left stricken
by ghostly curses that leave them in misery.
One night, Ari's sister Annie is found lying on the path to her house,
cursed. In a desperate bid to save her, Annie's family holds a seance
with a mystical bottle that Ari's father had mysteriously acquired. The
ceremony ressurects a spirit from the bottle named Master Stanley Hihat
Trinidad XIV. Stan, as he likes to be called, is the spirit of an Evil
King. And he is Annie's only hope.
The situation is desperate... and the decision harsh. But to save his
sister, Ari makes a pact with the demon. In exchange for lifting the
curse, Ari will allow the Evil King, Stan, to become his shadow and his
master. In the candlelight, Stan comes to life and Ari becomes enslaved
in his terrible gaze.
Ari
Age: 16
Occupation: An Ordinary Boy
Info: Quiet boy with an overshadowed destiny. Father is the assistant
manager of the Tenel Village Hall. Mother is a housewife. Seem to be
without note but...
IMPORTANT NOTE: DO NOT LET ARI DIE IN BATTLE, EVER! YOU WILL
AUTOMATICALLY GET A GAME OVER BECAUSE IF HE DIES, STAN DIES WITH HIM!
Stanley Hihat Trinidad XIV (AKA Stan)
Age: Unknown
Occupation: Reincarnation of the Evil King, Gohma
Info: He's the "evil" reincarnation of the last Great Evil King, Gohma.
Early in the game he possesses Ari's shadow and becomes a major form of
comic relief. He sometimes helps out in battle and will occasionally pop
up before a battle and ask a question. Get it right and he'll help out.
Get it wrong and he'll insult you.
Rosalyn
Age: 22
Occupation: Hero
Info: Master of the rapier, reluctant devotee of the parasol. Used to be
an elite hero but since she met Stan, she puts up with insults while
being a comic-relief hero.
Kisling
Age: 45
Occupation: Ghost Expert
Info: An ecclectic, dedicated scholar of spooks. Stalks pretty girls
under the guise of doing field work. Loves clipping toenails for fun.
Princess Marlene
Age: Unknown
Occupation: Princess with the scary eyes
Info: She's the only princess of the game, and she has scary eyes. She
also owns 70% of Ari (Stan owns the other 30%). She is very bossy around
Ari, and it seems she has a crush on him. She is very important to the
story of Okage.
Big Bull
Age: Can't remember
Occupation: Furious Fighter
Info: A nice guy who loves blood, sweat and battle. Dreams of
establishing a school for muscle men and creating a muscle paradise.
Linda
Age: Top secret!
Occupation: Teen Idol Singer
Info: Possesses a musical, magical, pop heaven voice.
Epros
Age: Unknown
Occupation: Mysterious Wizard
Info: Mysterious roaming interloper and snappy dresser. Obsessed with
the search for magical power and discovering the truth of the world.
V. Walkthrough
Chapter 1: The Boy Meets The King
Nameless Dwelling (Ari's House)
The game begins in the kitchen, where your (you being Ari) mother and
little sister are introduced. After the narrator talks a bit, your
mother will ask what you think is for dinner; choose whichever you'd
like, it doesn't really matter. Mother will show you the bottle your
father brought home yesterday; again, it doesn't matter (for those who
are curious, the bottle smells moldy, it moans when you poke it and the
cap won't come off.) Your mother will then ask for someone to pick up a
loaf of bread from Tenel village. It doesn't matter what you pick,
because Annie will say she has homework (lazy girl). If you talk to
Mother again, she'll suggest you go visit your Father at the town hall.
There are no items to be found in the house, although there are two
locked doors (I have yet to find the key, if anyone else has, please
email me). If you enter Ari's room you have the option of saving,
changing party members and resting. Ari's grandparents are in the room
to the right of the kitchen, talk to them if you want to. Leave the
house after you're done exploring.
Tenel Forest World Map
Talk to Annie; again the choices don't matter. Seems she's going on a
date while you're stuck picking up a loaf of bread. If you want, while
going down the stairs, you can go through the gate to the tiny cemetary.
Two of those tombstones are quite funny... the other, a bit odd...
knowledge of the library, hm? Continue down the stairs and open the
gate.
Run until you meet a fork in the road. Speak to the two boys (again the
choice of dialogue doesn't matter). They will inform you that a circus
is coming to town tomorrow night. Head to the right to Tenel village (if
you go the other way the boys will just stop you and tell you it's too
dangerous).
Tenel Village
Items: Loaf for Pickup, Ground Beef, 10 sukel
When you enter the village the first person you see is a blonde girl;
your childhood friend (and snob, in my honest opinion) Julia. Go ahead
and speak to her. She will also mention the circus. If you ask her out,
she will bring a blow to that all important male pride (I'm a girl, by
the way. That was a joke.) and decline, saying she already has a date. I
told you she was a snob. Just wait until later... She will walk away,
telling you she needs to tell you something important later.
The Inn, Blacksmith, and Bar are all closed, and it seems the Church is
off limits. Go to the right, into the Butcher shop. Talk to the man and
buy the ground beef (trust me, you'll get your money back and then some
later). Talk to any people you want. To sum up what they say, there are
ghosts in Madril, a neighboring town, and that they're evil, violent and
attack people. Others will mention the water shortage and the closing of
most of the stores in town. Could it be related to the ghosts? DON'T go
in the bakery just yet, or you'll automatically go home for the evening
afterwards.
Head into the item shop (you can stock up on stuff if you want, but
you'll have more money later). Go behind the counter and behind the
clerk, there's a door there. Enter and speak to the old grandpa. He'll
give you 10 sukel.
The last few places towards the steps are mostly homes. The really big
one is the elder's house. Go ahead and talk to him if you want. He'll
tell you the story of the evil king Gohma and the hero Hopkins.
Finally, head up the stairs to the two buildings. The Church, as
previously mentioned, is shut tight. Head inside the other building, the
town hall, to meet up with your Dad. You'll also learn about
classifications if you talk to the woman on the right. Your dad is that
great looking guy sitting behind the counter. Ooh, what a stud. Yeah, he
sure redefines cool!
Finally, head to the bakery and talk to the woman behind the counter.
Choose any options and eventually you'll get the loaf for pick up. Leave
and you'll meet up with Annie, and you two will head home.
Nameless Dwelling
The next night, the whole family will be sitting in the living room,
watching Dad watch the strange bottle that smells of mold. Your mom will
remind you and Annie of the circus, and tell you both to go ahead and
have some fun. Annie will leave with her date, Chad, and you'll regain
control of Ari (or whatever you renamed him). If you attempt to leave,
Dad will call you back. If you want to talk to Grandpa, Grandma or
Mother, do it now, because Father will hog your time... ...for TWO
hours.
Two hours later, he'll tell you to go ahead and have fun at the circus.
The other members of your family ran away from your father's lecturing
and aren't in the house. Head outside to the world map.
Tenel Forest World Map
Head to the fork in the road, and head left this time. You will
eventually reach another fork. The left trail leads to Madril, and is
being blocked by an adult. The right path leads to the circus, so go
that way. (On a side note, if you head to Tenel, the pudgy boy you met
before is blocking the path, telling you to get lost, that he's waiting
for a girl. Heh heh heh)
When you get to the circus, you will meet up with Julia and her date,
the Skinny Boy. You will effectively be called a loser and they will
both walk off. Talk to the pudgy man up ahead and he will mention how
you seem to be so overshadowed.
Since you missed the circus, go ahead and head back home. On the way
there, though, you will find Annie and her date! It seems Annie is being
attacked by a ghost! Her date will run off (Jan? I thought it was Chad).
You run up to her to help her, and Father shows up, too. The ghost is
scared away, and it fades away back to the nameless dwelling.
Nameless Dwelling
Everyone is gathered in Annie's room later that night. At first, it
seems she is dying, from the way everyone is carrying on. And then, she
speaks.. pig latin!! It seems she is under the curse of pig latin, and
it is such a bad case that it is uncureable. After some pointless talk,
Mother gets angry and tells everybody to stop it (oh, this is my
favorite part in the whole game, this one scene, heh heh), then says
"Annie will become some comic relief girl, not a precocious pretty
Princess! This is horrible!"
Father will say there is only one thing they can do! To the labratory,
Igor! Er.. ...to the basement, that is.
Everyone (except Annie) will be gathered in the basement. If you were
here the other day, you'll notice it has changed just a little bit (the
yellow marks on the floor). Father will say the bottle is actually a
legendary vessel that holds the power to change destinies. Father will
do a little dance and summon...
..James, the evil butler. And he will introduce the all mighty, all
powerful, all seeing Lord Stanley Hihat Trinidad XIV! ...also known as
Stan, the Evil King of Shadows.
Everyone will ask Stan (who's still stuck in the bottle) to save Annie's
life from comic relief. Everyone agrees (yes, even you have to agree) to
give their soul to save Annie. And so begins... The first Stan Cup
Shadow Contest!
Does anybody else wonder how Ari and Annie have green eyes and the rest
of the family has brown? Er.. anyways... After the contest is over, it
seems Ari has won, although he's not too happy about it. Stan possesses
Ari's shadow, and then the scene shifts to Annie's room.
Annie is cured! ...but it seems Stan made a slight miscalculation.
Annie's shadow is now fluorescent pink. After Annie and Stan exchange
words, Annie throws a temper tantrum and the scene shifts to one of
those evil running nightmares. Ari wakes up quickly, falling off the bed
and hitting his head.
No one in the house mentions the incident, and this would be a good
opportunity to save your game before heading outside to the world map.
Tenel Forest World Map
When you head outside, Ari will hear a mysterious voice. The voice will
laugh at him and tell him that NO, it wasn't a dream, and too bad,
because this is reality! Stan will pop up and tell Ari that he is now
the obedient servant of the Evil King Stan, forever!
James will then appear. Go ahead and talk to him. If you head in the
house or try to circle around him he'll pout. James and Stan exchange
words, Stan saying he will use you to take over the world and James
trying to get his master to try Mother's omelete. Also, Stan will
mention your next objective: send the village of Tenel into nightmarish
horror!
James will head in the house to eat his omelete (if you head inside to
the kitchen you'll see him with Mother, eating and complimenting her),
and Stan will order you to go to Tenel Village.
If you attempt to head into Tenel Village, a young gentleman will tell
you you should go and introduce Stan to all the villagers standing
around on the path; do so, or else you'll never progress. There are 6
villagers to speak to.
After you finish speaking to all the villagers, head to Tenel. Stan will
stop you and ask why the villagers aren't cowering in fear of him.
Answer any way you like (Stan fans, you should always agree with Stan if
you want him to like you best, so choose the top option here if you're a
Stan fan.) You will then head into Tenel Village.
Tenel Village
Items: 30 Sukel, Odd Glass Tube, Fruit Knife, Cyphertext 1, Map o'Evil
Kings
As soon as you enter the village, Stan will order you to gather
information. As soon as you gain control of Ari, head into the butcher
and speak to him. He will offer to buy back the ground beef he sold you
yesterday for 30 sukel. (I told you you'd get your money back and then
some! Ha ha!) Tell him yes, and then leave the butcher shop.
Today the inn, bar, blacksmith, AND the bakery are closed, and the
church is still off-limits. It seems the water shortage is getting
worse. But you still have to follow Stan's orders, so talk to anyone in
the town you want.
After you're done talking to everyone, you will know that the waterway
underneath the church supplies the whole village with water, but it
seems it has been turned off, and everyone is afraid to go down into the
church because of a ghost. Now, Stan doesn't care about this too much at
first, until he finds out that the town treasure is also underneath the
church. He wants you to steal it so the town will suffer. But as
previously mentioned, the church is off limits. So go talk to Father in
the town hall!
Oh, but before you do that, you need to stock up on supplies at the
village shop. Personally I buy around 30 nuts, just so I won't have to
buy more later, but it's your cash. But you DO need at LEAST five nuts
for the ghost.
After you're done shopping, head to the town hall and speak to Father.
He will open the church for you like the nice guy he is. So attempt to
head into the church and James will show up. He'll call you a rookie and
tell you to be careful, basically. Go inside the church. Head left, to a
door, and go through. Go down the stairs and through another door, and
after a comedic auto-event, you will have your first boss (sort of)
fight!
Boss
Tricky Ghost
Perky Frog (2)
Not much to it. Heal every time your HP falls below 15 (just to be on
the safe side). Kill the perky frogs first (they die with one attack),
then, to kill the ghost easily, have Ari cast Overdrive on himself. The
next turn, have Ari heal himself with a nut, and THEN attack the ghost.
The ghost will die.
After the battle, Stan will take all the credit for killing the ghost,
and then tell you to take the village treasure. Ari automatically takes
out the "Odd Glass Tube" key item. Stan will get peeved and tell you to
leave so he can unleash his wrath on the villagers. Before you leave,
open the valve to end the water shortage, and then leave the church.
Most of the villagers will be gathered around outside, and will cheer
for you because you defeated the ghost and turned the water back on.
Then Stan will pop out and attempt to take all the credit, and then
decides instead to "bestow wisdom" on the villagers.
Stan's speech about how evil he is simply makes the villagers laugh,
which peeves him off even more. He will go away to pout after the
villagers all leave (Stan fans, try to cheer him up! ...it won't work,
but hey, he'll like you more.)
After this you have two items to get. First, head into the elders house
and speak to the elder. He will give you Cyphertext 1. See the Secrets
and Sidequests sections for the answer, or, just keep following this
walkthrough. Next, head to the previously closed Blacksmith and speak to
the man on the right of the screen. He will give you a Fruit Knife.
After that, talk to whoever you want, it doesn't matter. You can also
stock up on supplies. After you're done, head to the exit of Tenel
village and a man will be blocking the exit. Speak to him. He informs
you that all of a sudden, all over the world, other evil kings have
appeared! Stan yells at him and tells him it's a lie, and then the man
tells you that a man at the bar told him, and gave him a copy of the
"Map o'Evil Kings". Stan instructs you to find the person "spreading
these lies".
So head to the bar and talk to the man on the left. A few dialogue
options will pop up, choose whatever. Stan yells at him about the "Map
o'Evil Kings", and then the man gives you a copy. He also informs you
that there is an evil king in Madril, the nearby city. It also seems
that this man knows that Stan is the shadow evil king. Hm, interesting.
Ari will automatically start to leave, but Stan stops him and asks him
to look at the map. It seems there are many more evil kings than Stan,
and even MORE upsetting to poor Stan, is that HE is not even ON the
list! He summons James, who says that the other evil king are imposters
who stole Stan's evil powers while he was in the bottle! It all suddenly
makes sense why the villagers are laughing at Stan; it's because all his
evil powers are gone. So you must defeat the other evil kings and get
his power back! ...and to conquer the world, of course. And then James
will mention Julia. So you have to go talk to the little snob.
Head to the entrance/exit of Tenel, and what do you know, there's Julia.
Speak to her. It seems Ari is no longer her ideal husband... (I TOLD YOU
SHE WAS A SNOB, DIDN'T I!? SEE!? And you didn't believe me!) The screen
will then fade.
Nameless Dwelling
Items: Old Music Box, Mere Pebble, Ordinary Card
The next morning, Mother will wake you up. I'd suggest leaving your
room, then reentering, then saving your game before heading downstairs.
Head to the main room of the house and you will see your whole family
gathered. Your dad will tell you to say good bye to the family. Talk to
everyone. Mother will give you the "Old Music Box" and tell you to give
it to a girl you like. James and Annie give you nothing, while your
Grandfather tells you about the "Odd Glass Tube" you found in the church
basement. It turns out it's part of a device called a "Voice Recorder",
and he tells you you should look for the rest of the parts. Grandmother
will give you a "Mere Pebble" and tell you to take it to the Bakery in
the village. Then finally, talk to your father. He will say he spent
your allowance (how evil), but will give you an "Ordinary Card" instead.
Stan will say it's time to go, so head for the door. Before you leave,
the whole family will shout "Good luck!" and then you're on your way.
Chapter 2: Enter The Pink Hero And Her Parasol
Tenel Forest World Map
Items: Tiny Gear
Welcome to Chapter 2! Before you do anything, head back to the Nameless
Dwelling (but don't enter). Head to the left of the nameless dwelling.
You should see a metal windmill. Go to it, and stand to the right of it.
Ari should pick up a "Tiny Gear". These things are scattered everywhere!
I will not tell where they are in the walkthrough, so you should look in
the Tiny Gear section of the secrets and sidequest section of this FAQ.
Now head to Tenel Village.
Tenel Village
Items: Bread Crust
Head to the bakery and give the lady behind the counter the "Mere
Pebble." She will give you the "Bread Crust." Now leave Tenel.
Tenel Forest World Map
Items: Cyphertext 2
Head to the circus grounds. To the right of the entrance to the tent,
there is a man. Speak to him to get "Cyphertext 2". Before leaving the
circus grounds, head to the left. You'll see a strange green light. Step
into the light, and Ari gets an examine icon over his head. Examine.
Traveler's Island
You will be in an area with many unactivated stone circles, and the one
that leads to Tenel. If you head to the right of the Tenel Stone Circle,
you will come upon a woman in all black. Speak to her to learn more
about the location. Head back to Tenel.
Tenel Forest World Map
Items: Worn Brush, Holly, Leftover Sword, Wild Strawberry
Enemies: Airy Bunny, Maneating Onion, Chicken Chicken, Wild Cow,
Perky Frog, Square Rhino
Head in the direction that has been previously off limits. You will
eventually get to a bridge. Before going across it, go under the bridge
(go to the right of the beginning of the bridge and head down, then
left). Speak the painter there to get the "Worn Brush", and open the
chest next to him to get a "Holly" guard. NOW you can head across the
bridge.
Ah! A ghost! Stan orders you to fight it.. but then... another ghost
comes up behind Ari! Choose whichever one you like (they're all wussy
answers, but eh). Suddenly a woman carrying a pink parasol will run up,
knock Ari over, and destroy the ghosts! She'll ask you if you're okay,
then tell you not to walk around so vulnerable like that. She will also
give Ari a Leftover Sword. Stan will pop up and insult you, and then you
can be on your merry way.
Notice all the ghosts? Yup, they're your new buddies. They'll follow you
everywhere. Touch them and a battle starts. So continue along the path
until you reach the second bridge. Head across it and speak to the
freaky guy blocking your path. Turns out his name is Gutten Kisling and
his hobby is (ew) clipping toenails. Stan will pop up and converse a
little with Kisling, and then Kisling will leave.
After that, keep going up until you see a woman in a pink dress, and
then head right. Yes, this is off the path, but it leads to a treasure.
Keep heading right and around, trust me, there is a path, until you
reach a treasure chest with a "Wild Strawberry." Then you can go back
around to the path until you reach the next town. Before you actually go
in, activate the red Madril teleporter.
Madril
Items: Cyphertext 3, 400 sukel, Rare Gear
When you enter, Stan will tell you to gather information. So, talk to
EVERYONE you see, in EVERY building. I'll tell you who you'll get items
from. Everything past the bar is blocked at this point, and you must
find a way around.
The first building on the right in Madril is the town hall. Instead of
going in, go around it, on the left side. On the left outside wall of
the Town Hall, Ari will get an examine icon over his head. Examine.
Knock. Knock 3 times. You will get Cyphertext 3.
After you get the Cyphertext and talk to all the people in town, head
back to the Town Hall and enter. You will see the woman with the pink
parasol talking to the guy standing guard at the Hero's Club entrance.
Go and speak to them. After the girl runs inside, speak to the guard.
Stan will be afraid that the hero Hopkins is inside. Speak to the guard
again and he'll let you enter the Hero's Club.
Once inside, talk to anyone you'd like, and THEN speak to the hero. The
clerk she's speaking to says he'll give her a number, but she has to
wait her turn, too. She yells and tells the clerk to let her through
anyways, but he refuses, saying she should be grateful she's even
GETTING a number. He will also insult her parasol, and she will smack
him so hard he falls to the floor. Speak to him again and ask any
question you'd like. He will tell you her name is Rosalyn, and tell you
to ask her yourself why she uses a parasol. Follow Rosalyn.
The guards are still blocking the other end of town, so you'll have to
find another way. Talk to the bossy kid near the broken elevator until
he tells you about a back passage at Toby's house. Toby's house is the
home that is right next to the Town Hall. Go in and speak to Toby. He
asks you the password. The password is "Spotted-Cat Team is the best!"
Head out the door and follow the pipe until you get to the next part of
town.
Once again, talk to everyone (save the heros lined outside the sewer
management office for last). When you head into the Madril Shop, talk to
the boy on the right that is behind the counter. He will buy your "Fruit
Knife" for 300 sukel. Say you'll think about it, then leave. Come back
in and talk to him again, and he will offer 400 sukel. Take it. The old
man on the left sells items, weapons and armor. See the shop section for
a complete listing.
Finally, talk to Rosalyn, who is lined up with the other heros. She will
move after talking a bit about her past, revealing a manhole cover.
Examine it and you will be in the sewers. (don't worry, there's no boss
down here.)
Simply run to the ladder and examine it. You will go into the last part
of town that was previously blocked by garbage on the street. There are
only two buildings you can enter here. First enter the one on the right,
with the gear loving people in it. Talk to the girl on the left and she
will trade your "Worn Brush" for her "Rare Gear". Enter the other
building that is unlocked.
In here you will encounter the Spotted-Cat Team. Stan pops up and
threatens them. Blabber Dill will then introduce the leader of the
Calicos, Maggie. Stan will then order you to leave to look for an
entrance to the sewer, but Maggie say she knows a back way into it, but
she won't tell you because you're a Whisker-Mole spy. Robert and his
pal, the unnoticed boy, interrupt you. They have kidnapped Maggie's cat,
Dilbert! It seems Rosalyn has also joined the Whisker-Mole team. You
must help Maggie get her cat back, and in return she'll let you in the
sewers.
Head into the next room. It seems Robert (with Rosalyn's slave labor)
has prepared a puzzle for you. Go up to one of the boxes and examine it.
Ari will automatically solve the puzzle for you, so head through to the
next door.
After some talking, and Maggie crying, Rosalyn will slap Robert. Robert
will give Maggie her cat back and run away, followed by the unnoticed
friend of his. Talk to them, and then attempt to leave the room. Maggie
will thank you and agree to unlock the gate for you, and then Rosalyn
will ask you why you're going in the sewer. Stan will take over Ari's
body and tell Rosalyn to get lost, quite rudely, and then, he will
apologize and tell Rosalyn that YES, Ari is going, so Rosalyn will tag
along with you.
Exit the building, and then go to the left. Examine the gate and it will
open. Ari will walk in and Rosalyn will ask if you're ready. If you are,
say yes. If not, say no. You might want to go and save before you head
down. (save at the Madril Inn).
James will pop up before you go down. He offers to show you a technique,
but then, realizing he has a date with Natasha, takes off. Rosalyn will
ask Ari why his shadow is acting weird, and Stan will say Ari is under a
curse and the sewer evil king has the herb. Rosalyn will accept this,
and then you'll both head down into the sewer.
Sewer Dungeon
Don't worry, this isn't going to be a real dungeon. The sewer evil king
is in the first room! So go forward to see the giant rat, the Sewer Evil
King! He will call Rosalyn rude, and then she will get angry.
Apparently, he is not the one who damaged her years ago. Stan will pop
up and insult the Sewer King. The king mentions something interesting..
he is not an evil king because he wants to be, but because he was born
that way. Hmm... But since Stan goes off on an arrogant rampage..
Rosalyn finds out who he is! It seems STAN is the one who damaged
Rosalyn all those years ago!
..and then the Sewer Evil King tells Stan he's never heard of him, and
then insults him, calling him a "flippy floppy shadow." And then the
real battle begins!
Boss
Sewer Evil King
Lurking Rat (4)
Kill the rats first. Rosalyn and Ari should take them out fairly
quickly. Then have Rosalyn and Ari combine attacks on the Sewer Evil
King. Heal Ari if his HP falls below 20!! The battle should end in a few
combined attacks. If you're lucky, Stan will help out some.
After the battle, the Former Sewer Evil King will suddenly shrink down
to the size of a normal.. ...human. Stan will regain the power that the
Sewer Evil King stole from him, and then Ari will start to leave, before
Rosalyn stops him. She then threatens to kill Stan, but since he's a
shadow, he can't be harmed! And then she lowers her parasol... ...her
shadow is pink, too! Then, since she can't kill Stan.. ...she threatens
to kill Ari! Poor boy... She agrees not to kill him, only if Stan
restores her shadow! ...but it turns out.. he can't, because his power
is mostly gone. But, if she joins and helps kill the other evil kings,
he will regain his power and restore her shadow. And then, they will
continue bickering.. and bickering.. and bickering.. until the screen
fades to black...
Madril
Items: Swanky Mirror, Gaudy Card
The scene changes to the Madril Inn, where Ari, Stan and Rosalyn are in
a room. Stan demands to know why Rosalyn is in the room with them, and
she tells him she's not letting him escape. Stan and Rosalyn exchange
words, ending with Rosalyn finding Stan's weakness; he can't come out if
there's no light in the room, so Rosalyn turns the lights off!
Rosalyn pops up behind Ari, surprising him, and then they talk
privately, about Stan. Rosalyn mentions that the Princess, Marlene, is
going around incognito. Rosalyn thinks that if they ask Princess Marlene
nicely, she might be able to get rid of Stan, so Ari can be happy and
Rosalyn's shadow will return to normal. And then Rosalyn will join the
party permenantly.. ...and then she will kiss Ari!
Chapter 3: As Her Majesty Commands
Head up to the upper level of Madril because the elevator is now working
(and there's nothing interesting down here, anyways). As soon as you
step out of the elevator, you will meet a teen singer named Linda. It
seems no one wants to listen to her music. Go ahead and listen to her.
Stan will pop up, too. He will yell at her to stop, that his ears are
about to fall off! She'll then stop, disappointed. Stan will introduce
himself (and Ari), and Linda will smile and say "It's nice to meet you,
Ari!" ...it seems she likes him, heh heh.
So talk to everyone on the upper level that you want. I'll tell you if
there are any items to collect.
Head to the train station. Speak to the man on the right and he'll give
you a "Swanky Mirror." Head to the house to the right of the man, and
speak to the Hung Over Gal inside. Give her the mirror, and in return,
she will give you her "Gaudy Card".
After that, leave the town (the exit on the 2nd floor, not the first
floor), as there is nothing else to do here at the moment.
Ramille Plains World Map
Items: Cool Vest, Punk Wig, Chic Suspenders, Lustrous Hair,
Cyphertext 4, Cholesterol
Enemies: Maneating Onion, Crafty Crow, Walken Scarecrow, Perky Frog,
Fierce Goat, Lurking Rat, Plucky Pachyderm, Young Trent
The moment you leave the town, you will run into that Gutten Kisling
dude you met before. Remember him? The toenail guy? Anyways, he will say
he's been waiting for Rosalyn. He will then ask to join Rosalyn so they
can go on a great quest together. He wants to join, apparently, because
he thinks Rosalyn has such horrible luck that if he joins he'll be able
to observe more about ghosts and paranormal phenomenon (at least, that's
what I THINK he said...). She will refuse, and then Kisling will tell
her that he is infatuated (you know, he think's she's hot) with her.
Rosalyn will then ask you what she should do. Stan will say he
disapproves, so Rosalyn naturally says Kisling can come along. He will
then join your party.
There are a LOT of items on this map, and I mean a LOT, and some of them
are hard to find, but you should be able to find them okay. You should
also note that all the items are in previously opened chests. I'll tell
you where they are as best as I can, but if you want to just skip
straight to Rashelo, just follow the path and when you get to the fork,
head left for the faster route.
The first item, the "Cool Vest", is to the left of the entrance to
Madril, before crossing the bridge, even. If you're following the actual
world map, though, it's in the upper right area.
The second you reach the bridge, you will find that ghosts are also
located here. Now your buddies will be popping up all over the place.
Kisling seems to think it's Rosalyn's fault. You'll automatically go
into battle, but it's nothing major, just 3 Maneating Onions.
Now that you've crossed the bridge, head left (from your point of view.
From the world map it will be on the right side), and run down a little
ways until you see a little alcove type thing with flowers and an open
treasure chest. Check the chest for a "Punk Wig".
The blue dot on the map shows a save point (which restores your HP), so
head there if you get low. The small red dot towards the lower part of
the map is a teleporter, but you can't activate it yet. (bummer)
If you run along the path, you will reach a part with a whole bunch of
large rock things. One of them has a frog on top of it, if you're a
careful observer. On the left side of that is a very hard to find opened
treasure box. Search it for the "Chic Suspenders".
Just a few short steps past that is a fork. Head to the right fork to
enter the circus ground. Note that while here unless you go past a
bridge, ghosts won't pop up. The first circus tent you see has a
treasure chest to the right of the entrance. Check it for "Lustrous
Hair".
While still in the circus ground, near the last circus tent, there is a
tree with a clown under it. Head past the clown to the cliff. If you
adjust your view you'll notice the tip of the cliff is curly. Keep
running until the very edge of this cliff and a man from the World
Crypto Organization will come up behind you and give you "Cyphertext 4."
From there, head down. You will more than likely see the treasure box
with the "Cholesterol" item inside. If you don't.. ...are you blind?
It's to the right of the clown (from your point of view).
Now, leave the circus tents and follow the other fork. You should see a
beach to your left. Go there. There is a treasure chest with the
"Gorgeous Mascara" item in it somewhere along the beach. It's not hard
to find at all, so just find it!
If you're done and satisfied with your levels, head to Rashelo. Just
follow the path and you'll come to a big dock, follow the dock until Ari
gets an examine icon over his head. Examine, and he'll get run over by
Rosalyn and Kisling.
Rashelo
Items: Shiny Lens, Penlight, Letter Bottle
When you enter, everyone talks, and you learn more about Rashelo. Pay
attention to what is said about the Aquatics Ruins. Stan, frankly,
doesn't care, but, you'll need to know about it for later. I personally
find Rashelo's layout confusing, but that's just me. Stan mentions that
according to the Map o'Evil Kings, an evil king is nearby. ...he also
wants to conquer the town, along with destroying the imposter. Rosalyn
and Stan will yell a little, and then Kisling will notice something is
going on somewhere in the village. So go check it out!
..but before that, you may want to check out the Secrets & Sidequests
section. I won't be covering the Man In Love With Miss Madril sidequest
in the walkthrough, and I'll only say how to get a hold of the letter
bottle here, I won't tell you how to use it.
Also, before you go see what everyone's gathered for, head to the cafe.
I hope you can find it, because I don't know how to explain to get
there. Talk to the little boy to get the "Shiny Lens", then leave.
Head to the broken lighthouse (the building that you cannot enter with
the sailor in front). Speak to the sailor. Trade him your "Rare Gear"
for his "Penlight".
You also might want to buy some things from the shop. And THEN you can
head toward the place where people are gathered.
Rosalyn and Stan will exchange words for a moment, before the princess
arrives! Her name is Princess Marlene. The middle aged man will tell the
people that Marlene is heading for the Aquatic Ruins. The village is
then prohibited from taking a boat on the lake for two days. Rosalyn
then says that she and Ari have to go and speak to Marlene! Stan insults
the princess, and then insults all of humanity, and THEN Rosalyn nearly
tells Stan the plan she and Ari devised to ditch him! She catches
herself, though. It seems Stan may also have a plan for the princess..
Kisling stops a potential arguement from breaking out, and then you have
to go and catch up with the princess, because Rosalyn, Stan and Kisling
say so! Rosalyn and Stan exchange MORE words (gee, they fight a lot).
Since they fought, it seems that you reach the princess too late. She is
already gone, unfortunately. Head once again to the broken lighthouse,
and attempt to enter. Stan will give you the "Letter Bottle".
Attempt to get a boat to the Aquatic Ruins, but it seems not even heroes
are allowed. Pity. So you'll be staying in Rashelo for awhile. Kisling
and Rosalyn will leave, and then Stan will summon James. ...seems he was
in the middle of a date... oh well. Stan tells his plans for the
princess... he is going to make her fall in love with Ari, and then use
her to take over the world! How evil. Stan will then tell James he has a
special mission for him, but before Stan can tell him, James runs off to
his darling, leaving Stan behind. He decides to tell James his mission
later. Stan then orders you to gather information.
Wait until the very last possible moment to save your game, because the
moment you leave the inn, an auto-event will happen with the next evil
king!
He is the Bubble Evil King, and he is holding the princess captive in
the Aquatic Ruins! So your party must go save her, for Kisling's
perversion, and Rosalyn and Stan's ingenious plans that conflict with
each other! ...oh, and because no one else will. Head to the mayor's
house and speak to him.
..seems he's busy, so go ahead and leave. The Princess' servant,
Beiloune, is waiting for you. He wants you three, the Hero Rosalyn, the
Scholar Kisling, and... ...Rosalyn's protege, Ari... to rescue the
princess. So how can you refuse?
He'll prepare a boat for you. So do anything you want to do now, and
then head to the docks. Speak to the sailor and he'll take you to the
Aquatic Ruins!
Aquatic Ruins
Items: Bountiful Nut, Spiral Wire
Enemies: Waving Seaweed, Plucky Pachyderm, Chill Urn, Sleazy Toad,
Plodding Hippo, Walken Scarecrow
When you first enter, there is a sign on the left that reads, "Destroy
all the urns." Keep this in mind, because in ALL dungeons, there are
urns to destroy. They open the pathway to the next level. The save point
is to the right of the entrance. I'll be drawing maps for the dungeons,
not telling you where to go, so I hope you can tell what I mean on these
maps.

This room is locked.
After you head downstairs from B2, you will meet the Bubble Evil King.
It seems that the evil king didn't MEAN to kidnap the princess, but..
she was there, and he saw an opportunity, so... Rosalyn thinks he's a
liar, though, and accidentally gives the evil king an idea to do with
the princess. Stan pops up and disses the Bubble Evil King, Rosalyn
interrupts Stan before he can introduce himself, and then the evil king
says that the princess is upstairs. Rosalyn thinks he did something to
the princess, but the bubble king says that he's not interested in
female humans. He then refuses to give up the princess, and the boss
fight begins!
Boss
Bubble Evil King
Compassion Crab (4)
As is usual, defeat the minions first, then go after the Evil King. Heal
if Ari's HP falls below 30 because the boss sometimes casts Frost, which
knocks down around 25 HP. There isn't much to it, really.
After the battle, Stan will take the Bubble Evil King's power. The
former evil king will toss a "Spiral Wire" at Ari's head. Ari takes it.
The former evil king will then mention that he had a strong urge to go
to the back of the Madril Sewers. He will then tell you that the
princess is in the room upstairs.
You will automatically go upstairs to the princess' chamber. Rosalyn
will yell at Ari/Stan, telling him/them to stay away from the princess.
Stan will then accuse Rosalyn of kissing up. Rosalyn then threatens to
kill Ari if Stan goes near the princess. Stan and Rosalyn start to
exchange words, but Marlene yells at them. Marlene then thanks Rosalyn,
then asks who Ari is. Rosalyn then says that Ari is her protege. Kisling
also introduces himself, before the princess demands a cup of tea from
Ari. They all decide to leave, but then Marlene orders Ari to shine her
shoes. (gee, she's spoiled) Stan then decides to act on his plan now!
Stan calls for James, but he doesn't show up. A note comes instead.
James is on vacation!! The princess then demands that Ari let her see
Stan. So Stan shoves Ari forward, and Ari HUGS the princess! Stan
attempts to hypnotize her, but.. it fails. Something is wrong with her
soul. The princess then slaps Ari, taking away 18 HP! Yowch, she's
strong.
Rashelo
Items: Whim Berry
You will automatically be back in Rashelo. The servant Beiloune will say
how glad he is to see the princess safe. Rosalyn asks the princess to
get rid of Stan, but the spoiled, evil princess says she will do it
later, and then she forgives Ari for hugging her, but says he must take
responsibilty! She then leaves.
Kisling then ponders what the former evil king meant by the back of the
sewers at Madril. Rosalyn is gleeful that she's close to the princess.
Stan is left wondering why the princess doesn't have a soul.
You'll gain control of Ari now. First, talk to everyone in town. A man
will give you a Whim Berry. Now, head to the mayor's house. Speak to
Beiloune. Since he's mean and won't let you through, go to the inn, rest
and save. As you're leaving, a little girl will come up and give you a
message from Beiloune. So go to the mayor's house. Head inside and speak
to Beiloune. It seems Princess Marlene is MISSING! Beiloune says she has
run away. She has gone to Tenel. So buy supplies and get going!!
Ramille Plains World Map
Enemies: Same as before
Seeing as the teleporter north of Rashelo is still inoperable, you'll
need to head to Madril on foot. Do so.
Madril
Items: Offical Card, Cyphertext 5
When you enter, talk to the gloomy researcher blocking your way into one
of the research centers. With Kisling in your party, he will give you an
"Offical Card".
Speak to Linda. You and Stan will give her advice on making her a better
singer, to cheer her up. She will thank you and you can be on your way.
Speak to the man who gave you the "Swanky Mirror" item. He will give you
"Cyphertext 5". Note how he says "help the righteous ones".
Head to the lower level. The wandering peddler will now be in the Madril
Shop for the rest of the game, and he has some good stuff. You should
buy some things from him.
Exit Madril from the lower exit.
Tenel Forest World Map
Enemies: Same as before
Just use the teleporter to get to the circus grounds outside of Tenel,
then head to the nameless dwelling.
Nameless Dwelling
When you enter, Ari will be stopped by his father. Rosalyn and Kisling
will introduce themselves. Father also says you have a pretty guest.
Could it be..?
Everyone heads into the kitchen. The guest is... Marlene! Mother is
teaching her how to cook. Marlene says the house is cozy, like an old
shoe. She's still calling Ari an offender. Mother then says she learned
what happened from Marlene, and then demands to know if that's true.
She'll then say that she's happy, because she knows you couldn't resist.
She'll then say Ari should slow down, that girls are sensitive, and that
he should be responsible for his actions... which means.. the princess
is now going to travel with you! ...but she doesn't fight. Bummer.
By flattering Rosalyn, the princess manages to convince her that she
should be allowed to come along. Rosalyn then asks that at the least,
could Marlene just come with her and not Ari (because of Stan, you know,
heh heh). Marlene refuses, and then tells Ari to come closer. ...Marlene
takes back her forgiveness, and now Ari has to be her servant for the
rest of his life!!
Stan pops up, furious, saying that Ari is HIS slave, and that Marlene
CAN'T HAVE HIM!! Stan then tells Marlene all about his evilness, and
insults Ari's geekiness in the process. Rosalyn yells at Stan, and
apologizes for him, and then Marlene and Stan go back to arguing over
who owns Ari. The screen will then fade to black.
You will gain control in Ari's room. Leave, then head down the hallway.
If you examine the locked door, you'll hear Father and Kisling talking.
Head out into the main room. If you go into Annie's room you'll see
Annie and Rosalyn talking... ...is it just me, or do they sound a
little... odd? Your grandparents are hanging out in the living room,
like they usually do. Marlene is in the kitchen with Mother, learning to
cook. She mentions something odd... she wants a mother.. assigned?
Hmm...
Mother seems to think that Ari and Marlene are boyfriend and girlfriend,
but Marlene quickly tells her that is not true. Go ahead and speak to
them. Try to leave and Stan will tell you to take a break here, so go
upstairs and take a nap.
Ari will wake up in the middle of the night, so leave his room and go to
the main room. Go to the basement to find Marlene. She will say she
wants to get Mother something in appreciation for how nice she has been.
She thinks "Moon Beam Grass" will be perfect. You should follow her to
the main room. Rosalyn will come downstairs and ask what's wrong with
the princess. Rosalyn will get mad and run outside, so follow her.
Tenel Forest World Map
Enemies: Same as always
Head to the circus grounds and speak to Rosalyn. Ari will automatically
go to help the princess find the flower. Rosalyn chases the ghosts off
for you. Later on, near dawn, Marlene will be upset because they didn't
find the flower. On the walk home, Ari will spot the flower shining
nearby. He and Marlene will go and get it for Mother.
Nameless Dwelling
Marlene will thank Ari and Rosalyn and you two will go to bed. The next
day, Marlene will wake you up. Go ahead and go to the main room. Head
downstairs and talk to everyone, saving Marlene and Mother for last.
Marlene will ask if she can come and learn cooking again one day, and
then give Mother the flowers. Mother will thank Marlene, and mention how
she looks so pretty, just like a doll she used to have. Mother will then
tell you to give the music box to Marlene later.
Everyone will wish you good luck on your journey, and you're on your way
again! ...by the way, 30% of Ari is Stan's, and the other 70% is
Marlene's.
Tenel Forest World Map
Marlene will ask about what Mother said, and then you will be forced to
give Marlene the music box. Marlene will be happy, and you will all be
on your happy way.
Chapter 4: Strange Days And Stranger Company
This is my least favorite chapter in the game, because it is SOOOOOOO
long. There are FOUR dungeons in it, and THREE evil kings. And it's
long. And I have no patience, heh heh.
This is a really good point in the game to change people's
compatibility, because you have access to 3 of the 5 towns of the game.
So run around and talk to people until you wanna work on the plot some
more.
..okay, so you're back, right? You should also go get a lot of money in
the Aquatic Ruins for weapons and items in Madril. I can wait. You also
might want to go and activate that portal near Rashelo now, if you
haven't done so yet. Oh, and work on some sidequests, such as the Man In
Love With Miss Madril (if you haven't already done it), or The Letter
Bottle.
Now head to Madril.
Madril
Items: Eh, it's ok Card
You must speak to EVERYONE on the lower level. I'll tell you where to
get key items.
The sleepy town manager in the town hall will give you the "Eh, it's ok
Card" when you speak to him.
That's really the only item, so.. head to the very back of the lower
level and speak to the man in black. He will let you inside.
Once in, head to the door to the left and enter. A man is blocking the
stairs upwards, and he will not let you pass without proper
references... so you must use the cards people have given you to get to
the very top. If you've followed this walkthrough you should be able to
get to the very top easily. Note that Father's "Ordinary Card" is quite
useless, even on the bottom level... Also, the "Gaudy Card" will only
work on the third level. On the fourth level, the only card you should
have left is your father's useless card, so Princess Marlene will use
her card to get you to the top of the building.
On the fifth floor, head inside the door. You will meet a man that you
more than likely spoke to in the town. The Chairman will offer a job to
the princess, which she refuses. Rosalyn yells at him (she yells too
much), telling him that he only wants the princess to get unethical
money by using her name. The chairman will then insult Rosalyn's
heroism, and then threaten the princess. He says that if she doesn't
join them, that he will spread a rumor that her and Ari were caught
kissing! Stan seems to think this is quite evil... Marlene stands her
ground, though, and says she still refuses to join him, and says that
her and Ari are truly in love! The look on Ari's face.. pure comedy, I
tell you...
The chairman then transforms into (did his looks change? I can't tell)
the Evil King of Chairmen! Everyone asks Stan if this guy is really an
evil king, and Stan tells them that the Big Boss evil king's power is
enough to incinerate the building. Marlene gets mad because of the Big
Boss evil king's bragging, as he tells his plan to punish the falsely
accused heros. He will then call forth a group of enemies (2 Plodding
Hippos, 1 Walken Scarecrow. Piece of cake!).
The Evil King of Chairmen then offers Stan a job, and an office with a
view (ooh, enticing). He refuses, and then Rosalyn goes on a hero
trip... Stan then sulks, saying Rosalyn messed up his line. Rosalyn
attempts to finish hers.. ...but the princess cuts her off. Rosalyn
sulks, too, and then the Evil King of Chairmen makes his escape. He
mentions something about the Escapeless Abyss in the Ramille Plains...
Stan then orders you to follow him! So leave Madril via the upper level
exit.
Ramille Plains World Map
Enemies: Same as last time
The easiest way to get to the escapeless abyss is to cross the bridge,
and then turn left... you'll come across it. If you get lost, remember,
the Escapeless Abyss is in the top portion of the map.
Escapeless Abyss
Items: Bountiful Nut, Ghostologos, Miniature Statue
Enemies: Compassion Crab, Capricious Screw, Systematic Gear, JC
Scarecrow, Tough Golem, Sparky Urn
Ahh... the second most evil dungeon in the whole game. I spent two hours
in here in my first game... It's really very hard, but.. I'll try my
best to help you through it. I'll be using maps, though... Also, there
is something new in this dungeon; Magic Circles. They are green circles
that you can step on. They're only active if they're glowing. And for
the holes, if you step onto them you fall through to the next level.
This part of the walkthrough will constantly be a work in progress,
because the Escapeless Abyss is such a pain to map... The map currently
here was contributed by Silverleopard. Thanks a lot! ^_^

Make sure to get the two treasure chests to the left and right of the
stairs before proceeding, and equip the Ghostologos on Kisling (no
really important reason, except he'll be stronger in battle). You should
save before going down, too.
You will finally find the Former Chairman Evil King! (Hopefully I was of
some help, heh heh. ^_^;) Rosalyn tells him he's going to go to his
grave, and he then gives everybody some business advice. Stan pops up,
tired of the lecture, and wants to kill the Chairman Evil King. The
chairman then says he is stronger than the party thinks, and he is much
smarter than they are. Kisling gives the former chairman a lecture of
his own, and then Stan compliments him, a little surprised that he's not
such a quack after all. Rosalyn does a little ego deflating, and Marlene
orders you all to fight!
Boss Fight
Chairman Evil King
Steel Armor (4)
Take out the minions, if you've forgotten. Use combined attacks between
Rosalyn and Ari, have Kisling heal in emergencies and cast Speedy on the
others, if you wish, cuz he's kinda weak, ya know? The Steel Armors cast
Super Shield and Rage, so you really needa finish them off quick. Don't
bother healing Kisling unless you have a spare turn, if you do, go ahead
and heal him. If he dies just have Rosalyn or Ari revive him... after
the Steel Armors are gone, then you don't have much to worry about. Heal
Ari if his HP gets around... eh, 30, if you want to be safe. Chairman
Evil King casts Drain sometimes. Stan always seems to help out towards
the end of the battle.
After the battle, Stan will regain some more of his power (woohoo!).
After the chairman evil king is defeated, he seems to have gotten
amnesia, because he has know idea what's going on. Rosalyn thinks it's a
hoax, and it turns out it is. He then says that his whole life he liked
to do evil business ventures, but one day he just got the strong urge to
spread rumors about the heroes, even though he wasn't going to make any
money out of it, which was completely out of character for him. Turns
out he wants to OWN the world, not conquer it. ^_^; He continues on,
saying how he doesn't understand why he suddenly wanted to conquer the
world, then realizes he has no idea why he's in the Escapeless Abyss.
Kisling asks the former evil king if he knows anything about the back of
the Madril Sewers, and he says he has the feeling something's at the end
of it. Stan then informs you that his power is still not at his peak,
and you know what that means.. more evil kings! You get a dialogue
option here... Marlene yells at Stan for abusing her servant, then says
she thinks this whole adventure is "quite a pleasure". Rosalyn mentions
to the princess that it was the three of them doing all the fighting,
not her. Kisling stops a potential argument and asks the ex-evil king if
he knows anything that can help the party.
He mentions a "Tranverse Tunnel" in a statue south from here, so you
have to find it. Marlene seems to know nothing about it, which seems to
surprise the former Evil King. It seems it is a pathway for supplying
workers and materials from the outside world to the Evil Kings in this
world... this is all getting nice and complicated, isn't it? So if the
party waits there.. maybe an evil king will show up! It seems you need a
key, though, so the former evil king forks it over, on the condition
that he's allowed to leave and go back to Madril. The party agrees, and
the former evil king (sort of) proposes to Rosalyn. Rosalyn nearly stabs
him but Marlene stops her. You will then aquire the "Miniature Statue"
key item.
The former evil king also drops something, and says that it's nothing
important, but he's had it ever since he remembered being bad. He
doesn't know what it's for, so he gives it to you. It's the "Bell Tube"
key item, which is another part of the Voice Recorder, so it seems. He
leaves to be an honest loan shark (^_^;).
Rosalyn wonders if she did the right think, and the princess fails
miserably at cheering her up. She then says her shoes are dirty, and
poor Ari has to clean them again. She's kidding, though, and thanks him
for fighting hard. Then she says she wants to go back to town to eat.
Ramille Plains World Map
Enemies: Same as always
You might wanna go to Madril and buy the weapons and armor you couldn't
buy previously. Now, for the Transverse Tunnel...
I had a lot of trouble finding it in my first game, but I found it
eventually. It's in the desertish part of the world map (not the beach,
but the desert.. the part that's near the funny shaped rocks, in the
middle of the map). If you look at the actual map that's in the bottom
left corner of your TV screen, it's on the right part of the map, in the
desert part. It's one of the huge statues.. hopefully you can find it
(sorry, I'm bad at explaining stuff like this).
Examine the statue, and it will open. Your characters will head inside.
Tranverse Tunnel
Enemies: Waving Seaweed, Peaceful Hippo, Strungout Spider, Stingy Onion,
Old Trent
This place is small, so don't worry. Just run straight through. You
probably won't even get in a battle.
..but if you do... ALWAYS KILL THE STINGY ONIONS FIRST! They will STEAL
1000 sukel and run away. If you get in a battle with a huge group of
them... either run or risk fighting them.
Pospos Snowfield World Map
Items: Cyphertext 6, Bandit Shoes
Enemies: Healing Bunny, Pink Elephant, Stingy Onion, Coolhead Snowman,
Wizard Ghost, Half-Cocked Yeti, Clingy Crab, Raging Penguin
When you come out, you're in a snowfield. Everyone is about to leave
because nothing is there, and Marlene wants a cup of tea, but Stan
interrupts. Apparently, he sees someone. A.. bull.. thingy, jumps out
from nowhere, and says he is a terror from hell. His name is Big Bull!
Kisling comments that he's a live one. Stan calls him a muscle bound
meat head, heh heh. It turns out that this Big Bull is an evil king.
Rosalyn asks Stan if anything's wrong, and he replies as usual. She
deflates more of his ego (poor Stan, by the end of the game his ego's
gonna be normal sized..). Stan tells you to attack, but the Big Bull
evil king interrupts, saying that he won't fight you now, but that you
must get through his dungeon, the Big Tree hole (I know what you're
thinking... "WAHHHHHHH! NOT ANOTHER DUNGEON!" Don't worry. The Big Tree
Hole is a short, rather easy dungeon. It's three levels, but it's a heck
of a lot smaller than Escapeless Abyss). He then runs off.
You should go forward, inside the Pospos Spa. They have some good stuff
in there, plus an inn to rest at, so you can level up on this world map.
The shop is very exspensive, though. One of the people in here will also
tell you the story of the Tortoise and the Pebble.
Head back outside, but don't go back to the Transverse Tunnel just yet.
Head south towards the snowfield and you will meet up with a rather...
strange.. individual. Note the ominous music...
Stan pops up and asks who the person is. The guy (yes, it's a guy),
speaking in rhyme, warns the party, telling them that beyond there is
not the world they know. He also talks about acting.. hmm. Rosalyn
mentions something about how he's cute, but uses very cheesy metaphors.
The man then calls Stan a frail shadow (poor Stan), and tells him to
destroy all the other Evil Kings. He mentions that it is the parties
"role" to challenge them. He then starts to fly away, but Rosalyn stops
him to ask who he is and why his poetry is so horrible. It seems he is..
the Phantom Evil King! Whoa, two evil kings in five minutes. Amazing,
huh? Stan throws a fit, and Rosalyn makes fun of him again. You then
regain control of Ari.
Head south, but beware of the ghosts. They're pretty strong here.
Eventually you will come upon a group of snowmen to the left side of the
path... move your view to see what they're looking at. Is that a tree?
Why, yes, I believe it is. Go over to the tree across from the snowmen
and examine it. Yay, a WCO member! She'll give you Cyphertext 6.
There's a teleporter at the southern end of the map. Might as well
activate it now, right? Great, just two left to find.. wonder where they
could be?
There's a save book near the teleporter. Attempt to enter the gate and
you'll see that it won't open. You'll get in that village in Chapter
5...
In the bottom left part of the map there's a small cottage. If you speak
to the man inside, you will finally find out why in the world you were
supposed to collect tiny gears. He says finding 30 will be fine
(although there are 32, so I've heard). He supposedly gives you
something if you find 30 of them, but I haven't yet. ^_^;
Referring to monsters, Half-Cocked Yetis sometimes run away. Oh, and
Stingy Onions still steal your money.
Oh, and there is also a treasure chest on a small island out on the
lake. To get to the chest, you must go to the big stone temple's island,
then search for a small tree. Cross over it and you will reach the
island, and the treasure chest that holds Bandit's Shoes. Then cross the
other little tree and the small ice islands to get back to the mainland.
There's another treasure chest, too, but it's blocked by huge piles of
snow. Anyone know how to get it?
That's pretty much every point of interest at the snowfield, so it's
time to find the Big Tree Hole dungeon. Head to the teleporter in the
south (or if you'd prefer, head back to the Transverse Tunnel and go
through Madril...)
Traveler's Island
You have two options. Go to the green teleporter for Tenel (because you
can get your Cyphertext Prize now), or go to the red teleporter for
outside Madril. When you want to go to the dungeon, go to the red one.
Tenel Forest World Map
Enemies: Same as always
If you wanted the Cyphertext prize, just look in the Cyphertext section
of the walkthrough. It'll tell you where to go in Tenel. Otherwise...
From the entrance to Madril, head south. The Big Tree Hole dungeon is on
a small path that leads to the left. It's blocked by a log, but you can
go around it. There is also a sign in front of the log that says "Go no
further west. Scary ghost hangout in "Big Tree Hole". Signed Madril
Visitors' Office." Yup, that's the place, so go around the trunk and
follow the tiny path until you reach the dungeon.
When you get there, the characters (minus Marlene, where IS she?) will
converse, and then head inside.
Big Tree Hole
Items: Black Cat Jewel, Manual Handle
Enemies: Brassy Rhino, Ablaze Urn, Clingy Crab, Lone Wolf, Stingy Onion
(!), Growling Lion, Berserk Boar
This dungeon is fun. ^_^ I'll map it like I usually do. Also, note that
there are some insivisble walls, but it's no big deal. Just follow my
maps, kay? Oh, and from now on, if an enemy steals money, I'll be
placing a (!) after their name.

Easy, but fun, right? Remember to save your game before proceeding to go
to the boss chamber, Big Bull's a toughie.
When you get there, Marlene will walk in (wonder where she was? Madril,
getting her tea?). Big Bull will thank your party for coming so he can
pound you. Rosalyn thinks he's had too many power drinks. Kisling then
asks the evil king if he's been in the Big Tree Hole all along without
trying to conquer the world. He replies that yes, and he doesn't care
much about world conquest. He just wants to fight strong opponents. Soon
after, the battle begins!
Boss Fight
Big Bull Evil King
Burly Bull (4)
Take out the minions ASAP. They cast Quiet, which puts Lock on your
characters. The real danger, though, is Big Bull! He can attack a
character for up to 90 HP. You should probably have Rosalyn and Ari do
combined attacks while Kisling keeps everyone's HP high, ESPECIALLY
Ari's. You should really keep Ari's HP above 100, and everyone elses
close to maximum. If Kisling dies, DO revive him, even if he is
worthless. I've noticed if Ari's HP drops down then Stan usually gets in
on the action. Big Bull will also cast Charge on himself, which raises
his attack power. If he does this, pray that he doesn't attack Ari! Once
the minions die, go all out, but remember to always keep Ari's HP high!
Big Bull only attacks him most of the time. This battle WILL deplete
your supply of healing items, and it will be a very long one. If you run
low on nuts... stop healing Rosalyn and Kisling, and only use them to
heal Ari. If you DO run out of nuts... have Rosalyn and Kisling attack
and Ari heal.
After that.. longggggggggggggg battle, you'll see Stan's oh so lovely
face. He's regained more of his power, yayyyyy. He then orders Ari to go
and defeat the next evil king. The former evil king, Big Bull, will say
something, and Stan tells him to get lost. The former evil king remarks
about how strong Stan is, by calling him brother. It seems he now wants
to fight alongside of Stan. He then tells you to call him Big Bull, and
Marlene says that Stan "may" take care of Big Bull. Stan throws a temper
tantrum.
Attention is brought back to Big Bull when he mentions that he, too, was
told to go to the back of the Madril Sewers by a mysterious voice. Big
Bull says that he thinks now that Stan is supposed to go there instead
of him. Kisling wonders just what is back there and Big Bull says he
thinks it's a cool muscle paradise... ^_^;
Big Bull joins your party, and Stan begrudgingly lets him join. Big Bull
wants to give Stan something, so he offers him his Evil King Champion
Belt. Stan refuses, saying nobody knows or cares about it anyways. It
got broken in the fight, anyways. You will then aquire the "Manual
Handle".
Big Bull then goes around calling everyone a name. Rosalyn is "sister",
Marlene is "Don", Kisling is "Doc," and poor Ari (who not even the other
party members know what he is), is the "cub".
After the.. er... touching scene, you will regain control and will be
in...
Tenel Forest World Map
Enemies: Same as always
What town is nearest? That's right. Madril! Go there! ...now! Or.. go to
Pospos Spa and buy some stuff for your characters.
Madril
Are you sick of Madril yet? ...TOO BAD! MWAHAHAHA! ...er. Right.
Anyways.. talk to everybody in town before heading to the upper level.
Lots of people are talking about Linda...
On the upper level, Ari, Marlene and Rosalyn will automatically go and
talk to Linda. She seems happy because she's popular now. Marlene asks
Ari who she is, and then Rosalyn tells Marlene that her name is Linda.
Marlene then orders Linda to stay away from her servant (cat fight,
anyone?). Linda will ask Ari who Marlene is and Marlene, quite angry,
will tell Linda to stop talking to Ari. Linda, quite angry, will tell
Marlene that Ari is NOT her servant, and that she shouldn't treat him so
harshly. Poor Ari will then be stuck in the middle. Linda tells Marlene
off, Marlene tells Linda off, and then Linda says her and Ari were meant
for each other! (whoa, how surprising is all this?) Linda describes how
Ari helped her (very romantically), and then yells at Marlene some more.
Marlene runs off, quite upset, and you get more talking from the
narrator (sometimes he's annoying).
You will automatically be taken to Madril Inn, where Ari attempts to
speak to the princess. You'll have a touching scene (this scene actually
made me like Marlene a lot more), and then Marlene will ask to be left
alone.
In the lobby of the inn... the music of Madril has changed to Linda's
theme! ...er.. I think it's her theme, anyways. Go around and talk to
people if you want to. Some people in the streets are now wearing pink
and purple... what fashion sense. ^_^;
Head to the upper level when you're ready. *gasp* Linda's gone! Huh,
wonder where she went. Anyways.. if you talk to Robert, he's having a
strange inner struggle.. it sure makes you question Linda, hm? Even Dill
and Toby are Linda crazed! (You should talk to Toby, at least, it's so
cute what he says.)
Nearly all the people on the upper level are wearing Linda colors...
this is getting out of hand. Head into the research lab after you hear
"Linda's so hot!" 50 zillion times.
She's even gotten to the researchers! Talk to the ones dressed in Linda
colors... Whassat?!? Evil King!? Oh my! Stan and the others converse
about this (once again, Ari is ignored). Stan also mentions her horns...
and then he gets jealous! Rosalyn then says if Stan had horns he'd be a
cow. And then Stan calls her a "broken lid of a porky casserole"...
Heehee, this game sure can crack you up.
Stan says that he wants you to go to Linda and says he will "train her
so hot... I mean, so hard!" ...I'm not even gonna go there... that line
is just asking for jokes.
Outside, Linda is back at her street corner. Go speak to her. She's very
happy because she's brainwashed all of Madril. She IS an Evil King! The
Teen Idol Evil King, to be exact! She didn't have much power before, but
now, thanks to Ari, she's a fine evil king... ...the hero helping the
bad guy... what next in a video game? Anyways, continuing... Stan says
that now he must defeat Linda! Linda is shocked to learn he was an evil
king all along, and runs away because she doesn't want to fight her
coach. Everyone converses a little more, and then you're on your way!
Check the map o' evil kings, too.
The hint mentions snow, right? What place has snow? ...right! Pospos
Snowfield! Go there! ^_^
Pospos Snowfield World Map
Enemies: Same as before
Whether you entered via teleporter or the Transverse Tunnel, it doesn't
matter. The location is in the middle of the map, on the bigger island
of snow out in the water part. There's a path leading upwards to it.
When you get near it the party will split up and start to talk. They
will all automatically enter the dungeon.
Sealed Cave
Items: Mirage Ring, Mega Charm, Power Candy, Battlefront Coat, Sleeping
Bottle, Voice Recorder
Enemies: Gloomy Urn, Stalking Tiger, Warding Off Crow (!), Minty
Alligator, Perky Frog, Bed Head Walrus, Rain Calling Ray,
Waving Seaweed
This dungeon isn't too horrible. It involves lots of running around
looking for magic circles, though. Whichever party members you want to
use are fine. Oh, by the way. Linda is the last evil king of chapter 4.
Only one dungeon left after this and it's EASY! Examining doors opens
them, stepping on magic circles makes bridges pop up. The gloomy urns
are easy if you have Big Bull in your party.

There's no reason to map this floor, really. Just go forward and examine
the door (step on the magic circle if you want), and Stan will ask the
all too familiar question. Enter to confront Linda!
Everyone will follow Ari inside (except Marlene, who is still at Madril
inn). Linda will be pleased that Ari made it all the way here, saying
how romantic it is. Rosalyn says she doesn't want to fight Linda, but
she has to to save all the people of Madril. Linda will walk closer to
your party, asking Ari if he really wants to fight. Stan replies that
Evil Kings should take whatever they want by force (shouldn't Linda be
an Evil Queen? ^^;), then tells her that she must fight him for him to
recognize her. Linda finally understands, saying that this must be what
a disciple and master have to go through. Stan laughs and the battle
begins!
Boss Fight
Teen Idol Evil King
Shrewd Bear (4)
Defeat the minions first. Linda uses Midnight, a sleep attack against
the whole party. If your lucky not all of them will fall asleep. Linda
casts LP Downer (Drain, I suppose), and the Shrewd Bears also cast Virus
Level 2, which poisons your whole party. Unfortunately, they tend to
cast this at the same time, which means your whole party can be at
Poison Level 3 in a matter of seconds. Linda might cast Midnight to get
rid of the poison for you, though. You should get rid of the Shrewd
Bears first, because they will really hurt your party should you keep
ALL of them alive. Plus, if Linda casts Midnight continually, you'll
never get a turn in... This battle will be long, but not because it's
hard, just because of the continuous sleep/poison status. Combined
attacks are out of the question until you kill the Shrewd Bears, because
by the time everyone's time bar is full Linda will cast Midnight AGAIN.
Shrewd Bears also use Self-Destructor, which causes pretty good damage
while killing itself. Once her bears are gone Linda starts to attack for
real. Her attacks do around 50 damage to Ari... I actually died once
trying to beat her, so she is a little difficult. Beware, for Linda is
quick. Use your two strongest to attack Linda and the weakest character
for healing. She can also cast Mighty Load...
After the battle (nearly 5,000 sukel, woohoo!), Linda will fall over,
and say it's okay that she lost. But since she's defeated, she can no
longer dream about having a concert at the back of the sewers. She's sad
now, but she's easily distracted, too. Kisling ponders over why every
former evil king says different things about what's at the back of the
sewers. Linda will give you the Long Screw... before you can check what
the bright light in Ari's pack was, Marlene enters. ...she has freed Ari
from a life of servitude! Whoa, who saw that coming? Linda then says
that now, her and Marlene are equal opponents. Marlene says she won't
lose, and then Linda asks what part of Ari Marlene likes best. Linda
says she likes his eyes the most, huge and pretty and... yellow!?!
Marlene tells her that Ari doesn't have yellow eyes... Linda says that
sure he does, his main body does, anyways. Kisling asks her which part
is the main body, and she says that it's his shadow, isn't it? It seems
she's had a crush on STAN all along... And she thinks Ari is just a
weird doll! She thinks he has a dorky voice, too. Kisling concludes that
she sees that way because she is from the devildom. Ari walks forward to
Linda and Stan then formally introduces himself. Linda says that she'll
never leave him again, and Stan, with a surprised look on his face (I
love that look.), says he guesses that's okay. Linda then joins the
party.
Stan says it's time to resolve this issue, and go to the Madril sewers.
Rosalyn asks why, because they've already checked there, but he says
there must be SOMETHING back there... So you have to check more
carefully this time. Before the party leaves, Linda says Stan should do
something about that weird doll. Ari says nothing, and Rosalyn laughs..
I feel sorry for Ari, don't you? Kisling seems to pity him. Marlene
makes Ari her servant again, 'til his death!

B4
You have FINALLY (long dungeon, hm?) reached the back of the Madril
Sewers! The party will begin to talk. Rosalyn says there is a magic
square here, but nothing else. She thinks the magic square must hold a
great secret... Stan says the pattern on it looks familiar, and he
thinks that this was all a waste of time. Stan gives everyone a brief
history lesson, saying that magic squares were orignally created for
minor evil beings and humans to support their inadequate power. He, on
the other hand, can produce great power without the aid of a magic
square. Rosalyn tells him he should stop talking because she's starting
to feel embarassed for him, calling him a fake evil being. This makes
Stan angrier than we've ever seen him in the whole game, saying that
calling him a fake evil being is the ultimate mega offense. Rosalyn
laughs, saying that now she can call him that all the time. Stan says
he'll make her pay for this right now, and she laughs again, daring him
to take her on. This just annoys Stan even more.
Marlene asks Ari why he isn't trying to stop them, and Big Bull agrees,
saying that he should stop them before they start with "Liar liar pants
on fire" arguments. Linda says that he shouldn't because she thinks them
fighting is funny. Kisling interrupts, telling that he found writing on
the square that said that "this magic square will reinforce the
attributes of the one who steps on it", which basically means whoever
steps on it becomes a lot stronger. Stan laughs, saying that now he can
become the Great Evil King, and Rosalyn asks him how, saying that it
seems like Ari would absorb the power instead. This makes Stan quite
ticked, and he yells at Rosalyn. He then orders Ari to stand on the
magic circle.
Ari steps on it, and everyone talks, saying maybe it's too risky for a
human to step on it. They all call for him to get off, but it's too
late; he's already stepped onto the device. Something goes wrong, and
Stan yells that something's happening to Ari's body, and something is
happening to him.
When the flashing light stops, Ari is standing on the magic circle, and
Stan has vanished. Rosalyn asks everyone what she was doing, and Kisling
tells her what we already know, that the magic circle makes the person
who steps on it stronger. Rosalyn wonders if it has the same effect if a
human steps on it.. something is wrong. They've already spoken about
this, haven't they? Kisling says that is probably does, but it seems to
be a device only for evil kings, and that it may be dangerous. Rosalyn
says there aren't any evil kings there, so they should all leave in
search of the "Great Evil King"... who is the "Great Evil King"? Rosalyn
asks Linda and Big Bull what they will do now that they've discovered
they are fake evil kings. Big Bull will return to his spa, and Linda
doesn't know. Big Bull thanks Rosalyn for being so nice to them even
though they're ghosts, and she says it's her duty as a hero.
Suddenly, the music box Ari gave Marlene begins to play. Rosalyn asks
what that sound is, and she says it's her music box. Marlene says it's
important and she must not break it, though she doesn't know why...
everyone then leaves, and the narrator speaks some, before chapter five
begins.
Chapter 5: Lost Souls and Shadows
Outside the Madril Sewers, Ari will be alone, and the phantom evil king
will appear. He will talk gibberish (^^;), and mention the "Circus Evil
King". Whoever could that be? He will then leave, and you will gain
control of Ari.
No matter who you talk to in Tenel, Madril, or Rashelo, or any place
inbetween, everyone will ignore you. EVERYONE. And no one will mention
Ari's name... not even his parents. Only one person even remembers you,
and that's your Grandmother. All your party members will ignore you,
too, as you can actually find several of them. No ghosts will run after
you, which means this is the perfect opportunity to find tiny gears.
If you talk to some people before continuing with the story, they
mention a "Great Evil King" and a "Great Hero". Talk to more people, and
it seems the Great Hero is Rosalyn, and the Great Evil King is none
other than Stan! When you're done being ignored, head to Pospos
Snowfield.
Pospos Snowfield World Map
Head to the very bottom of the map, to the gate that was previously
locked. Examine it and choose any option except the last one, and you'll
be allowed to enter.
Triste
Items: Friendship Bond
When you enter, a woman named KT will walk up to Ari and talk to him.
She'll introduce herself and tell him that this village is called
Triste. She mentions that Ari is the second new visitor that has came to
the village as of late, and then tells Ari that this village is the
sanctuary to the disregarded, then describes what everyone has been
doing to Ari. It seems he is now one of the disregarded. Both people and
ghosts live in Triste. Rather than be reminded of their state, they
closed their doors to outsiders, but since he is also one of them, they
allow him inside. From now on, whenever you wish to enter Triste, you
must ask for KT.
After gaining control of Ari, explore the town. You can't enter any
buildings here, but there are a few people to talk to. The guy standing
next to the Hero's Club sells items, though they're very pricey. If you
try to enter the hotel, you can save and rest.
If you follow the path to the right of the salesman, and keep going, Ari
will suddenly stop, hearing a girl's voice. The girl will be asking
where Ari is. She'll say some confusing things, and then will stop
talking.
If you try to continue and leave Triste, a barrier will knock Ari back.
Talk to KT, and she will explain that for some reason people like them
cannot travel farther than Triste. She then says that she once saw a
blonde, weirdly dressed person go through there, floating in the air.
Sound like anyone we know? KT will say she is sorry, but he cannot pass,
and then suggest that he considers returning to his people in the normal
world. KT also says that even if he does return to normal, the gate will
remain open for him.
Head back to the main street of Triste (where the hotel and Hero's Club
are). You can either continue to explore Triste (there are a few people
down the road to talk to) or you can enter the park like place near the
hotel. Either way, you should see a very familiar person, the ring
leader from the circus! Talk to him.
His name turns out to be Block. He seems rather surprised to see Ari
there. He talks about how he already warned Ari before, but he wound up
in Triste after all. He then says Ari will be okay, then starts to go
into detail about what's going on. He reminds Ari about the time when he
told him about his shadow being thin, then says that Ari's shadow has
reached the limit of it's thinness. Ari's shadow has become so thin that
no one even notices him anymore. He's become completely insignificant,
because he never conformed to society. At least, that's what Block says.
He says that all the people in Triste are like Ari, and they've been
this way for quite a long time. Since Ari is like them, he can see them
and speak to them, even though when they are out in the world, no one
notices them. He also says that not only people are like that, but
places, too. Block says that when he first became like this, he
panicked, and suddenly found himself in places he'd never seen before.
His symptoms were mild, though, and he eventually recovered.
Block will finally tell Ari how to go back to normal. The only way for
him to return to normal is to speak for himself. Once Ari reaches a
certain point, then he must return to Triste and have Block cast a spell
on him. It also doesn't work with any person in Triste, because you
can't effect the ineffectual. Block also warns Ari that because his
symptoms are so advanced that he'll barely be able to restore Ari past
the borderline. He tells Ari he needs to interact in the world again.
After that, you can do whatever you like in the town. Talk to whoever
you want, and when you're ready to advance the story line, go to a town
(I personally suggest starting in Tenel and working your way through
Madril and Rashelo) and talk to people. Don't forget there are a few
people in the forest, on the plains, and around the snowfield, too! You
should NOT pick "..." in the dialog options!! It will NOT help Ari at
ALL!!
An event will happen in Madril. When Ari enters from the lower level
entrance, he will see Marlene and Beiloune enter the inn. They will be
staying in the left most room in the right hallway. Marlene will be
playing the music box Ari gave her. Beiloune will be talking to her,
asking her if she is ready to leave to meet up with Rosalyn, and if she
thinks this is a fun adventure or not. After she does not respond,
Beiloune asks if she is okay. Marlene finally answers him, saying that
this adventure isn't any fun. She then mentions that she knows of an
adventure that was much more fun, but she can't remember anything except
that it was really fun. She asks Beiloune if she can go on that
adventure again, but he says no. Marlene says that even if she can't go,
she still wants to be able to remember what was so fun about the
adventure. Beiloune begins talking to himself, in a most suspcious
manner, saying something is wrong, and that he thought everything was on
the right track.. "after the boy, fortunately, disappeared from the
"World"." Very suspcious... very very suspicious. Ari will leave the
room, and you'll gain control of him again.
Eventually you'll notice that Ari has become more solid, and he doesn't
look so ghost like. This is when you can return to speak to Block to be
returned to normal.
Before Block turns you back to normal, he asks you to wait, because he
wants to gather others to show them there's still hope that they can
return back to normal. After gathering an audience, and explaining to
them about what Ari did, he casts the spell and asks how Ari is.
..then.. Stan pops up!! Yayyy, he's back! ^_^
Stan seems to be stuck at the moment where he and Rosalyn were about to
fight for a moment after he returns.. He mentions that the only
courteous thing to do is to fight her. After Ari says something (I don't
think what you pick matters) he'll come to his senses and greet you. He
seems a little confused... Block congratulates Ari for coming back to
the real world. Stan then tells Ari that they should continue on their
journey to restore Stan's evilness!! ...wait, is that a word? Hm..
Stan starts asking a whole bunch of questions, and then Block notes that
Stan can't see anyone but Ari and himself. Stan asks who Block is, and
he replies that Ari will tell him what's happened.
Suddenly, a mysterious voice interrupts.. it's.. gasp! The Phantom Evil
King! He says some confusing things, then Stan asks about the Circus
Evil King. The Phantom Evil King then asks why the Circus Evil King
denies his classification (well, he said it in rhyme, of course). He
also mentions that the Circus Evil King was entrusted to revive the
Great Evil King (I think) and have it fight again the Great Hero. It
seems not only did he fail with that, but he also helped Ari return to
the "world"... The plot is thickening, hm?
The Phantom Evil King continues, saying that from the beginning, the
Circus Evil King has worked against them, handing out Maps o'Evil Kings,
and his Circus Troopers aren't even evil! He says some more confusing
things, about roles and "that man", and ruining plans. Block replies (if
you haven't figured out who the Circus Evil King is by NOW...) that what
the Phantom Evil King does is contrary to his classification most of the
time, too. Stan starts to get angry at this point, because he isn't
getting any attention, and asks Block if he's an evil king, too. Block
then tells Stan and the Phantom Evil King that he is no longer an evil
king, because he gave all of his magic power to the Sewer Evil King,
then says that the power is back where it belongs.. in Stan!
Block and Phantom Evil King continue talking, and Block mentions that
"he" only has eyes for that young lady nowadays. Who is the young lady?
Who is "he", anyways? Phantom Evil King then wishes Block luck (I think)
and Stan seems happy PEK (Phantom Evil King) has shut up. He then
demands that PEK give him back his malevolent powers. ...and, of course,
he disappears, because we're not that lucky.
Block says that he got away, then says that he must leave, too, because
if PEK found him, he needs to hide again. He says he's sorry for not
being able to talk more, then walks away. Stan yells at Ari to go after
him for more information, but Ari apparently refuses. Stan then tells
Ari it's okay if he goes to find the others, and suddenly, something
starts to glow in Ari's hand. You will then aquire the key item
"Friendship Bond", which will give Ari new techniques every once in
awhile. Stan says that the item is worth investigating, so you should
keep note of it.
After ALL that talking, you STILL don't gain control of Ari... Geez!
Rashelo
You'll automatically be there, and Stan and Ari will automatically find
Rosalyn. She seems very happy to see them (well, maybe just Ari), then
asks where he's been. She seems a little confused about Stan, and their
journey. After a few more questions, she says they should at least look
for Kisling, but maybe leave Linda and Big Bull behind...
Ramille Plains
Once again, you'll automatically be here. As the party leaves Rashelo,
Big Bull runs by! He says he's been looking for you all, and that he was
worried. He will then rejoin the party.
Madril
Yup, you automatically are there. The party meets up with Kisling this
time! He says it's nice to see everybody, then says he believes the
world is becoming chaotic. He says it's probably because of the Great
Evil King, then asks if they should go.. then Rosalyn asks.. then Stan
asks.. and Big Bull gets confused.. and Kisling rejoins the party! ^_^
On the way to the elevator, Linda comes up! She asks where Stan darling
was, saying she missed him. Kisling says they have worse problems than
where everyone disappeared to, thinking that something unnatural had a
hand in it. Rosalyn asks if Linda feels it, too, and Linda seems
confused. Rosalyn asks again (anybody notice Big Bull's heart? ^_^),
asking about the fact that the Great Evil King rose up or the face that
she's the only hero now.. Linda still seems confused, so Rosalyn gets
angry, and Linda rejoins the party!
Rosalyn says that the only person left is Princess Marlene, and that
they better find her or Beiloune will get angry... speaking of Beiloune,
do you remember that suspicious little event? Anyways.. Kisling says
they should look in Tenel. The narrator talks, and then you'll be on the
bottom level of Madril.
Eek... Ari will stop, and see Beiloune coming out of the inn! He says
that the "wretched boy" must be back in the world again, and that
Marlene will remember the adventure now.. then wonders where she is,
then he takes off... ...that didn't sound very good, did it? You should
head toward Tenel, ASAP!!
Tenel Forest World Map
Items: Music Box
Enemies: Same as always
Unfortunately, the teleporters aren't working, so you're going to have
to make a run for it. The enemies aren't that tough anyways, so just
run!
When you reach the Tenel/Madril/Nameless Dwelling sign at the three way
fork in the road, Kisling will say since they're already here, they
might as well stop by Ari's house before visiting Tenel, since the
princess seemed to like his house so much. Stan says he doesn't care, as
long as they hurry up to find PEK. He says some things about the portal
(methinks he means the place where Ari couldn't pass in Triste), and
they all talk and bicker for awhile, before Big Bull reminds them they
need to get going.
But suddenly, there's a change in music (very bad music!), and a man and
a woman scream! That's not good! Stan says it's Ari's dad, so they
better run! Everyone runs, except Big Bull, who smacks his face against
the sign.
Outside Ari's house, Princess Marlene is dangling in the air, seemingly
choking. Rosalyn asks what's going on, and Marlene asks Ari to help her.
Ari's Father says that they came just in time to stop Beiloune, then
says that even though it isn't good he might find out some interesting
stuff. Ari's Mother shuts him up, and says that somebody has to help the
princess!
Beiloune mentions some things about classification, and Stan asks what
he's talking about. Big Bull and Linda say some things, and.. oh my,
even Ari is mad! Kisling asks a few questions, and Beiloune says that
Marlene won't die like a regular human. He then asks to be left alone
with Marlene, because he wants to talk to her. He says that he's done
everything for Marlene, that he created the perfect world and let her
play any role she wanted, and asks why won't she live up to his
expectations. Everyone seems confused, and Beiloune says that yes, HE
created the world, seperating it from the universe by the power of
"classification", and that they all were let to live in this world, to
play the roles that Beiloune gave them. It seems he did it all for
Marlene, so she could enjoy her eternal life without any boredom. He
asks them a few more questions and insults their intelligence. Over
time, he says, for some reason, deviants appear. It seems Ari is one of
these deviants...
Marlene asks Ari to help her, then Beiloune says it is only a mere doll,
no matter how strongly classified, saying that it cannot replace his
daughter who disappeared from the world. Angered, he transforms into
some.. devil looking person. Rosalyn tries to attack, but he rises up,
bringing Marlene with him. He chants a spell, and there is a bright
flash, and Marlene falls.. looking different.
It seems the whole time, the princess was nothing but a doll... everyone
is shocked, even Stan, who never liked her much to begin with. Stan asks
if Beiloune replaced her with a doll, and Beiloune says that's not what
happened, but that it was this doll that appeared with them and went on
their journey. Kisling says that it's because of Beiloune's real
daughter who disappeared, and he says that his real daughter Marlene
disappeared a long time ago because of an accident while she was playing
in this world. She isn't dead, though, because no matter what happens
she can't die, because she is absolutely protected. But even though it
is Beiloune's world, he couldn't find her, and he still can't. He yells
at Ari, calling him a deviant, and says it's his people's kind of fault
for making her go away. He then says he will classify the remaining Evil
Kings with maximum power and send them after Ari and the gang, with the
power of his World Library, and he will live happily ever after with a
new Marlene.
He says that the remaining Evil King is not Stan, because he's haunting
a deviant and being decent (?), and that the Evil King has to be evil
and strong, and be defeated only by the one who is chosen by Marlene. He
then disappears. Ari picks up the music box the doll dropped, and the
scene switches.
Nameless Dwelling
All the characters are in the living room, when James appears, asking
what's happened, saying they all look as pale as midnight ghouls (not
that he doesn't like it, heh heh). Rosalyn asks him what kind of look
that is, and James asks if Rosalyn is trying to get his attention. All
the party members seem depressed over what happened to Marlene.
Kisling says that what happened could be very important, and that they
all need to think. You'll gain control of Ari then. Talk to everyone.
Rosalyn talks about the classification system. She also doesn't seem to
believe that Marlene could only be a doll... Kisling is being serious
for once, which shocks Stan.. and Linda and Big Bull.. ...are being
Linda and Big Bull.
Talk to Kisling a second time, and a menu will pop up. You should ask
about all of them, it's very informative, and that's too much
information to summarize here. After reading all the information Kisling
has put together, talk to him again. He asks what they should do now,
and reminds Ari about the ultimate evil king Beiloune said he would send
to fight them. Stan pops up saying that's impossible, and that HE is the
ultimate evil king! (What did you expect, he was gonna take that comment
and not get angry? ^^;)
Kisling says in whatever case, it's too risky to wait for Beiloune to
create this creature, and that they should go and find Beiloune before
he can finish the thing, but that he's not sure they'll be able to find
it before it's completed. Stan seems happy at this, and Kisling says
that that's the right attitude they should have.
Go talk to Rosalyn. She says she agrees, and that she is a hero,
regardless of her classification, and she will defeat the Evil King!
Stan also agrees, saying that he has always been the Evil King, and that
his greatness defies any classification. He says he'll defeat this new
evil king, and then he'll defeat Rosalyn, too!
Rosalyn says it's a deal, and then says that she thinks the new Evil
King and Beiloune are on the other side of Triste. Everyone agrees to
search there. Rosalyn wonders where the real princess Marlene could be,
the narrator speaks a little, and then you gain control of Ari!
You should save first, and then head to Triste.
Triste
You should buy weapons and armor. It's very pricey, but you should buy
as much as you can.
After you're done spending all your money, head down the right street
and follow the path. Once again, when you reach the point in the path
where you heard the girl's voice, you will get another event. Ari's
music box will begin to glow, and it will float up into the air, and
begin to play. The girl will begin to speak again, asking where Ari is.
Ari will look around, and the girl will once again ask where Ari is,
saying that this is where she really is. She'll say she used to be able
to see it all, she could see what "she" was seeing, but now it's all
dark again. The girl will then ask who Ari is, and ask if it's okay to
come out. She'll then take the music box and stop talking.
After that sad (well, I thought it was sad) event, continue along the
path and leave Triste.
Addashi Desert World Map
Enemies: Gleeful Cactus, Perky Frog, Celestial Wyvern, Sand Mandragora,
Vengeful Mummy, Soulful Spider, Rude Condor, Waving Seaweed,
Shrewed Bear
Once you leave Triste, Stan will stop Ari, saying something seems to be
here. Rosalyn thinks it may be an ambush, and sure enough, PEK appears!
It seems he came to warn the party about something. PEK says "'Twas at
the Gear Tower foretold that this fight 'twould be won... The key is at
the "Deep Grave Pit"..." and the rest is unimportant. Rosalyn asks how
he can be so calm, and if he thinks he will be the Evil King who
replaces Stan. PEK says more, very confusing things (things that even I
have trouble understanding), and disappears.
Stan says he's unhappy with being led on by the PEK (in rhyme, though,
heehee). Linda comments that she thinks he's somewhat cool, and asks who
he is. Big Bull says that PEK isn't cool, that "Cool means being
powerful and smashing stuff! Not being floaty!" Stan agrees, saying he
is the coolest one here, and Linda tells Stan darling not to be jealous.
Stan gets that oh too neat confused look, and you can control of Ari.
The enemies here ARE hard, no doubt about that, but there's no point in
fighting them yet. You must find the Deep Grave Pit! ...wait, did that
rhyme? Anyways... the Deep Grave Pit is to your right, and it's in the
south-eastern part of the map. Examine the statue, it will open, and
you'll be allowed to enter the DEEP GRAVE PIT!
Deep Grave Pit
Items: Energy Bouquet, Miracle Nut, Treasured Dress, Bountiful Nut,
Sparkling Rapier, Ordinary Bottle, Guardian Crystal, Old Stone
Doll, Gear Tower Key
Enemies: Milky Urn, Ebon Slumber, Patient Rockman, Waving Seaweed,
Daring Dino, Bloody Armor, Evil Mask, 24K Screw, Sly Snake,
Invincible Whale, Perpetual Mudman, Rayless Sea Ray
Okay.. this is a 9 floor dungeon. I know what you're thinking, that
sounds worse than the Escapeless Abyss! Well, actually, it's not. It's
quite a simple dungeon. All you really have to do is run around looking
for urns and then the next floor opens up. Quite simple, not maze-like
at all. Although it's not fun to map! There is also no boss here. The
whole point of the Deep Grave Pit is to get the key to the Gear Tower,
which is some place in the desert.

The sign on this floor says to put a doll in the chest in the room
above... hmm...
B9
This really isn't even a floor. Just head forward, collect the "Old
Stone Doll", and head back to floor B5.
B5
Work your way through the maze like path and get to the room at the
back. Go to your menu, to the item screen and use the Old Stone Doll on
the box. The back wall will open up. Go down the stairs.
B6
You'll be in a secret part of B6! Go forward and grab the Gear Key! Now
leave the Deep Grave pit.
Addashi Desert World Map
Items: Rooster Feathers, Burned Bottle, Bountiful Nut
Enemies: Same as before.
You need to get to the Gear Tower, which is the red diamond in the
southeast corner of the map. It's a lot harder than it sounds, though,
mainly due to the fact that there's a ruins maze inbetween. Hopefully
you can get through it on your own. I'll try to make a map in a later
version... Before heading there, though, head to Triste and buy better
weapons and armor, ESPECIALLY for your three best magic users. Don't ask
questions, just trust me. My best magic users were Ari, Kisling, and
Linda, but yours might be different.
The chest containing Rooster Feathers is in the northeast corner of the
map, near the river. You cross a small bridge near the ruins maze to get
to it. It's not that hard to find.
Beware the Vengeful Mummies.. they're very strong, and they cast
Defenseless, which lowers the defense of the whole party. Celestial
Wyverns can be taken out easily with a combined attack, but they cast
Taxation, so if you're poor, be careful.
When you get close to the ruins, you'll get a brief overhead shot of the
entire maze. See what you're in for? A chest containing a Burned Bottle
(you should get it, you'll need it for the boss fight) is in the
southwestern corner of the maze. A Bountiful Nut is in the northeast
corner of the maze.
After you make it out of the maze, for your own sanity, ACTIVATE THE
TELEPORTER!!
Once you get out of the ruins and close to the Gear Tower, your
characters will stop and look at it. Huge, hm? Save at the nearby book,
because PEK is one of the hardest bosses in the game! After you've saved
and you think you're ready, head to the Gear Tower and examine the door.
Stan will pop up and tell you to use the Gear Tower Key you have, and
the door will unlock. Rosalyn will say you should head in now, but Stan
will suddenly interrupt, telling you something is glowing in your pack.
It's the Friendship Bond! Ari will learn a new move, Friendly Blizzard!
Gear Tower
As soon as you enter, the PEK will greet you. Notice the teleporter
behind him? Hmm.. The PEK will mention something about a plan, and Stan
will pop up, saying he'll smash the PEK's plan. PEK asks them to be
patient, and he doesn't tell his plans, saying it will only add to their
confusion. He then gives you a hint... "Coporeal attacks will be futile
as this form is but an illusion.".. which basically translates to..
physical attacks are useless. Then the battle begins!
Boss Fight
Phantom Evil King
Masterless Sword (4)
Okay... do what you usually do, kill the minions first!! Do it as soon
as you can, because they're a LOT more deadly than PEK... at first. They
cast Load, which slows your characters down, which sucks... but don't
bother having Kisling cast Speedy or Hyperdrive just yet, it'll just
waste a turn that you could be doing combined attacks on the Masterless
Swords. HEAL OFTEN! Hopefully, you weren't counting on Stan helping out
in this battle. All physical attacks are useless against PEK, including
Stan's. The second the Masterless Swords are down, have Kisling (if
you're using him) cast Hyperdrive. Have Ari heal, and the others use
magic or magic bottles. Don't bother with Black Cat Jewels, as you'll
only be halving your own HP and it only does 10 damage to PEK.
Eventually, he'll fall (or you will).
After the battle (10,000 sukel!!!), PEK will say.. something weird.. and
Stan will regain his power! The PEK will disappear, alarming only
Rosalyn, it seems. Stan will tell Rosalyn that they should all gloat now
that they've won, and Linda and Big Bull will congratulate Stan for his
victory! ...but then Linda says that the PEK's way of losing was totally
cool, too, infuriating Stan. They will all step into the teleporter,
ending chapter 5!
Chapter 6: Night In The Highlands
Highland Village
Items: BrokenGun
When they all step out, Stan asks if this could be the place where
Beiloune is making an evil king to match him. He starts to say more, but
Kisling interrupts, saying that he does feel an Evil King around.
Rosalyn says that the village is peaceful, and she didn't know such a
village existed here. Big Bull remarks that he doesn't smell heated
combat here. A mysterious voice says that it's a shame that Big Bull
can't tell evil's smell (in rhyme, though). The FPEK will appear! Stan
and Rosalyn want to fight him again, but the FPEK has a proposal to
make.. he wants to know how Ari gets his power, and why it makes
Beiloune so angry. He tells them they should advance to the World
Library, although he doesn't know where it is. He also tells them that
another Evil King IS around, and they shouldn't go alone, and offers to
go with the party. Kisling translates for him, and Stan agrees, just as
long as the FPEK follows HIS orders. The FPEK says he follows no one,
and says his name is Epros, then joins the party permenantly.
Linda seems very happy he's joined, and introduces herself. Epros calls
her the Former Teen Idol Evil King, which irritates Linda, and then she
says some things about Epros taking her away from Stan. Epros replies
with "Wh-what...!? Um... Thy Meaning I fear I cannot cipher. Plus you're
too perky and overly hyper!" ^_^
Rosalyn will then wonder why she's surrounded by former Evil Kings, and
then you will gain control of Ari.
You should, as usual, talk to everyone in town. I'll tell you where to
get items.
From the first little island type thing, head right across the bridge
and into the house. Talk to the boy and trade your "Penlight" for his
"BrokenGun".
The shop here is EXTREMELY exspensive. You probably won't be able to
afford anything in it right now.
After you talk to everyone, you'll know something is definitely strange
is this village... people seem to be afraid to go out at night, and they
seem to be losing sleep... Also, some of them seem to be depressed and
lack motivation. What could be causing this?
After talking to everyone in the village, it will be dusk. So head into
the hotel. SAVE and change any party members you want now, THEN stay.
"Please beware" hmm...
Later that night, Stan will awake Ari. He says that they should all head
outside to see what goes on in this village at night. Ari will wake the
others, and you'll be back at the front desk. Head outside.
Note the scary ominous music.. oooh... The shop is open, so buy things
if you like. Keep heading north, and you should see a man laying on the
ground, twitching... Attempt to head up to the rock where you can see
the whole village, and the party will come up. Rosalyn will comment on
the red stain. Stan says he's seen it before, when he was in the bottle,
and Kisling wonders why it's suddenly here. Big Bull and Linda say some
things... you should realize now the dark red liquid is actually blood..
creepy...
All the houses are locked up, but if you head down the stairs that
previous lead to nothing... you'll see a house that most definately
wasn't there during the day time. The characters will speak about this
for a few moments, and then they enter.
Inside, Stan will say that this place was luring them to it. Rosalyn
tells everyone to be careful. A mysterious voice starts talking, saying
that night provides a clever ambush. He says he is an Evil King of
honor.. gasp! Another Evil King! A very strange looking man with teeth
issues comes to the party, and he is.. the Vampire Evil King! Stan asks
if he is the evil king that is supposed to replace him, and the VEK says
he is. He talks a little about how he is classified to be the greatest
Evil King, then Epros says something about blood. Rosalyn asks what he
means, and Kisling explains that the villagers are the way they are
because the VEK is sucking their blood. The Highland Village was created
only for feeding, it seems...
The VEK talks more about classification, then says that it's useless to
resist it. He says that what he cannot resist he will embrace, and he
will become as evil as he can! VEK says he will suck the parties blood
to become the ultimate Evil King. Stan insults VEK, then orders Ari and
the others to attack! Epros tells Stan that they should be careful,
because the VEK has strong magic, and a direct attack would be fatal.
The battle then begins!
Boss Fight
Vampire Evil King
Sucky Bat (4)
Take out the minions! A good method is to cast Overdrive on Ari and use
his Burst attack. If you're lucky, the minions will go bye bye. If
you're not... have fun being a human sacrifice! VEK does indeed possess
very strong magic... Absolute 0, which seems to be an ice attack, does
around 50 damage, and around 80 to Big Bull. Another move is Inferno,
which is Fire Element, obviously. After killing the minions, combine
attacks with two characters, using the third as a healer. Do NOT let Ari
die, or you will be seriously mad at yourself!! Once the minions die,
he's pretty simple, actually... At one point he'll probably be casting
Inferno VERY often, so be careful!!
After the battle (15,000 sukel!!) VEK doesn't really seem to care that
he lost... which Rosalyn finds odd. The VEK says that once his
classification of evil king is gone, he doesn't need to strain himself
anymore, because his power is slipping away and soon he'll be the FVEK.
And then.. yay, Stan regains his power!! ...or does he? He didn't change
at all, and Rosalyn seems to find this a little disappointing, because
now she can't kill Stan. Stan wonders if there might be more evil kings
(noooo!!). Kisling starts to tell him that there are two possibilities,
but then a mysterious voice interrupts!
Beiloune appears, sort of faded, in front of the stained glass window.
He says that Stan doesn't have all his power back is because he reduced
the power of the VEK before he was defeated.. so.. Stan got ripped off!
Beiloune says that the only way Stan will ever return to his normal body
is to defeat him! Stan gets very mad at this... Beiloune tells Rosalyn
that if she wants to be the Great Hero, she has to defeat him, too, or
he'll just keep making evil kings until one defeats her! Beiloune tells
the party to go to the World Library, then fades away.
The narrator will speak a little bit, and then the FVEK will tell you he
can make the road to the World Library appear for you. Stan says that
the FVEK is more pathetic than even the FCEK, and you gain control of
Ari!
Final Chapter: The Boy And The King Enter The Library
To be continued in the next version... which will hopefully come
sometime before January... (hey, school is starting soon.)
VI. Secrets and Sidequests
Cyphertexts
If you talk to the Elder of Tenel Village after you've turned the water
back on, he will give you Cyphertext 1, and tell you all about the
secret Cyphertext Organization, a group of people who code and decode
messages for fun. He'll tell you to solve this first puzzle to get a
prize.
Cyphertext 1
"Sdnuorg eht ot og s'tel erehe si sucric eht."
Solution: The circus is here, let's go to the grounds.
Head to the place where the circus tents are outside of Tenel village. A
person will be there, speak to him and you will become an official
member of the Cyphertext organization and get your second Cyphertext.
Cyphertext 2
"5: ownha
1: Knockth
4: sideoft
3: nthe
6: llofth
2: reetimeso
7: emachines."
Solution: Knock three times on the side of town hall of the machines.
In Madril, on the left of the town hall/hero's hall, an exclamation mark
will pop up over Ari's head. Examine it, and knock three times, and the
person in the mysterious hole will give you Cyphertext 3.
Cyphertext 3
"btqkxbkhee:
:
dvsmzdmjgg"
Solution: Curly cliff.
On the second world map (the one with Rashelo on it), go to the circus.
Then head up the cliff. Yes, no one is there, but keep running to the
very edge. Someone will stop you and give you Cyphertext 4.
Cyphertext 4
"No <- Station -> Yes"
Solution: To the right of the Madril Railroad Station
Head to the left of the Madril Railroad Station and speak to the man who
was previously named "Man Who Likes To Count". Turns out he's a WCO
member. He'll give you Cyphertext 5.
Cyphertext 5
"Tree gazed upon by a cold friendship."
Solution: Near the line of snowmen in the large snowfield, there is a
tree. Examine it. Someone will give you Cyphertext 6.
Cyphertext 6
"Yesterday? Tomorrow? or..."
Solution: The real hint is what the woman in the tree said about
"righteous." Head to the only church in the game; in Tenel. The Tenel
Elder will come in and give you your prize, Divine Shoes.
The Man In Love With Miss Madril
You can begin this sidequest the second you enter Rashelo. The man lives
in the red hut that is on the left at the first fork on the road
(planks?) in Rashelo. Speak to him. Also, you will need to have
"Cholesterol", "Punk Hair", "Chic Suspenders", and "Shiny Lens". Give
them to him by standing in front of him, going to the menu, and
selecting the item. Speak to him again. It seems he's bad at talking to
women. So head to the cafe again. Speak to the man walking around behind
the counter and choose "Tell me how to sweet talk girls." Then head back
to the man in love with Miss Madril and repeat what the guy behind the
counter said. The man will then leave. The next time you're in Madril,
check Miss Madril's house. She lives on the second level. You'll get
your reward then.
The Letter Bottle
To start this sidequest, you must first aquire the "Letter Bottle" key
item. It says how to get it in the walkthrough in Chapter 3 in the
Rashelo section. Now go to the circus grounds on the Rashelo/Madril
world map. From the entrance with the sign, head to the right. You will
see a man with green hair standing by the river. Speak to him. (if you
entered from the spot that is closer to Rashelo, then you won't find the
green haired man to your right. Head the the OTHER bridge and from it,
head right. You'll find him.)
He will notice your Letter Bottle and will help you send a message.
Choose any message you'd like, and then run to the beaches. Run along
them and you will find a bottle with your own message inside,
unfortunately, so run back to the man with green hair and send it again.
Go check the place where you found the bottle last time. It won't be
your own message this time! Head back to the man with green hair once
again. He'll send the message one more time, just to be sure. So head
back to the same spot and pick up the bottle again. The person who sent
it will ask you to come visit her at the Elder's house in Tenel village.
Do so.
The person is in the upstairs left room of the Elder's house. Go in and
Ari will automatically speak to her. She will give you the Hand Knit Cap
guard.
Tiny Gears
Tiny gears are key items that you collect on the world maps. They are
EVERYWHERE, and you can't see them. If you step on them, Ari will find
them and pick them up automatically. A man in the Pospos Snowfields asks
for 30 of them. I won't be completing this section, due to the fact that
a GREAT Tiny Gears FAQ is already on Gamefaqs!
The Trading Sequence
This sidequest starts towards the end of Chapter 1, when Granny gives
you the "Mere Pebble" key item. I will tell you who to give the items
to, and where the person is.
"Mere Pebble"
Granny gives this to you. Give it to the woman behind the counter in the
Tenel Bakery. In return you get the "Bread Crust."
"Bread Crust"
Give it to the wandering painter under the first bridge on the Tenel
World Map. He will give you the "Worn Brush" in return.
"Worn Brush"
Give it to the Gear Freak in Madril. In return you get a "Rare Gear".
"Rare Gear"
Give it the the sailor standing outside of the lighthouse in Rashelo. In
return you get a "Penlight."
"Penlight"
Give it to the boy in one of the houses in the Highland Village. In
return you get a "BrokenGun".
"BrokenGun"
Give it to Ari's Father. In return you get a "Unicorn's Horn", an item
that defends against status ailments.
Compatibility
You know how the fortune tellers tell you about compatibility? Well,
it's a sidequest, of sorts. Depending on who loves you most (or likes
you most), you will get a gift from/for them. You can get the gift in
chapter 5.
Rosalyn
Rosalyn's gift is her best weapon, the Gallant Rapier, which boosts her
attack +40. To get it, enter Triste. She'll be standing in front of the
merchant, staring at the Hero's Club building. Speak to her, and as she
is beginning to walk away, the merchant will shove the Gallant Rapier in
her hands.
Stan
During chapter five, head to Madril, and talk to the fortune teller in
the hotel. She'll tell you to stay an the hotel. Go ahead and stay.
Leave the hotel, and James will appear, telling Ari to follow him for
special training. The scene will change to a waterfall at the Ramille
Plains, where James will tell Ari to jump in. Ari (and Stan) try to run
away, and the scene changes back to the hotel, with Ari laying in bed
with a cold. Stan will yell at James for getting his slave sick, and
James will give him his "Butler's Dark Drug" which only makes Ari more
sick, but also raises his attack and defense by 5 each permenantly. It's
not the BEST prize, but it's such a funny scene. ^_^
Julia
This one's a work in progress..
Ari's Father
Once again, much thanks to Meshi! Ari's Father's gift is the A of
Spades, Epros' best weapon which boosts his attack by 40. To get it,
talk to the fortune teller in chapter 5. She will tell you you should
visit your father. Do that, he's in the basement. He will exclaim that
he heard they had the best chemistry in the world, and give you the A of
Spades!
Princess Marlene
Hello Boy contributed information on this. Princess Marlene's gift is
Ari's best armor, the Reuinion Outfit, which boosts his defense by 16.
To get it, go to Rashelo end. Speak to the fortune teller, then stay the
night. After an event, Ari will wake up at folded neatly at the foot of
the bed will be the Reunion Outfit.

X. Frequently Asked Questions
Send all questions to me!
Q: How do you open the locked doors in the Escapeless Abyss and the
Sealed Cave?
A: I do know HOW to open the doors, but I've never done it myself. You
must wait until Chapter 7, and find a sword (who's name I don't
remember, I never found it myself) in the World Library. When you have
the sword in your inventory (you may have to equip it on Ari), go
examine the doors and they will open, and you'll get treasure!
