Minor update.  Damn, rush doesn't have AvsT anymore. I guess few people played
it. Dunno if e spot has dx yet, haven't been there for a very long time.

Sep. 11,04
New Section 4.5 Playing VS.  Though it is pretty brief right now, I would
go more in-depth later when I have time.  (I am pretty busy right due to
school work.)

Aug. 14,04
AvsT DX website is up. http://www.bandaigames.channel.or.jp/list/ac_zdx/
6 new MSs are added. They are Barzam, Gaza C, Palace Athene, Bolinoak Samaan,
Byarlant, and Pyshco Gundam Mk.II.  All MSs from the ps2 version will be in
the game, including all EFSF and Zeon units, but they have been rebalanced.
Also, they have changed the hyper combination system.  At the beginning of
each stage, you'll be asked to select the type of HC you want: assault,
revival, or mobility.  I don't know exactly how each works, but assault
increases attack power; revival brings you back to life when you get
destroyed, but without an arm or a leg; and mobility increases speed.

Came back from HK couple days ago.  Man, there are lots of strong AvsT players
in HK.  Also, it is very cheap in HK arcades.  In Tsim Sha Tsui, AvsT is
only HK$2 a game, $1 a game for FvsZ DX.  However, most arcades in HK
configure the machines to have only 1 max operation, meaning you have to
always challenge other players.

Apr. 25,04
Fans of the arcade version of AEUG vs Titans will be happy to hear that
there will a DX version to not only include units that were only in the
PS2 version but also add new units, pilots, and a new level (probably
Kennedy Port path). So far I have seen screenshots of Gaza C, Barzam,
Pallas Athene, Bolinoak Samaan, and Byarlant. There will also be changes to
the gameplay and to the cost of some the units.

I don't know when this game will hit the shelves in North America (North
America is always 1 step behind when it comes to releasing jp games.)
Chances are this game might be released in North America when they air Z
Gundam on tv.

Feb. 08,04
Added # of ammos for weapons of all MS
It has come to my attention that many people who post msg on the gamefaq
board don't know there is a faq available as most of their questions can be
answered if they read this faq. Please help spread the word about this faq
so they can learn more about this game.

This is my first time writing a FAQ. If there is something incorrect. I'll
correct it as soon as possible. Also, since I'm using Notepad to write
this, I can't spell check this so there may be a few spelling errors.

==============================================================================
1. Intro
==============================================================================

Mobile Suit Z Gundam: A.E.U.G. Vs Titans is the sequel to the very popular
Mobile Suit Gundam: Federation Vs Zeon DX.  It is based on the Zeta Gundam
series that is set 8 years after the One Year War between the Federation and
the Principality of Zeon.
Note: A.E.U.G. stands for Anti-Earth Union Group

==============================================================================
2. Gameplay
==============================================================================

This game is played in a 2vs2 format. You can team up with another player or
if playing alone, a cpu partner which you can give commands to. Teamwork in
this game is very important. The AI loves to gang up on 1 particular MS, so
its important to stick with your partner or don't let you ally cpu die so
easily. Keep in mind that there is friendly fire so watch where you are
shooting.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.1 How to play
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

If you have played Federation Vs Zeon DX (refer to as FvsZ DX from now on),
you'll have no trouble playing this game because it is basically the same
game engine from FvsZ DX. I'll be describing the buttons for the arcade
version but I'll list the default PS2 buttons in brackets.

You play using a joystick and 5 buttons: shoot, melee, jump, search, and
command/communicate.

Joystick (arrow pad): moves your MS, pretty straight forward. There are 8
directions you can move.
                             N
                        NW   l   NE
                           \   /
                        W -     - E
                           /   \
                        SW   l   SE
                             S
For PS2 users: you can also use the left analogue stick, but I find that the
arrowpad is much easier to use.

Dashing: all MS can dash or do a quick side step in order to avoid getting
hit.To dash simply double tap the joystick to the direction you want to
dash. For example, to dash right double tap the joystick to the right You
can only dash in 4 directions: forward, left, right, and back.

Shoot (square): fires main weapon
Melee (triangle): engages in melee combat.
Jump  (X): press the jump button to fly in the air. Watch out for the
boost gauge because you'll fall back to the ground when it runs
          out.
To fly in a certain direction, push the direction you want to fly
using the joystick while pressing jump.
Dashing can also be performed while in the air. To do an air
dash, do a dash while in the air and hold the joystick the
direction you want to dash. (Also see 2.2 How to transform)

Search (circle): to target an unit press the search button and the camera
will face towards it. Press Search again to cycle through
other enemies.  When you lock-on to an enemy, the targeting
reticle will be in one of these 3 colours.
Red: means enemy is active and will take damage if hit.
Yellow: means enemy will not take damage if hit.
Green: means enemy is out of range

Command/Communicate (L1): If playing with CPU partner, you can choose 1 of
                         the 5 commands.
Normal: the cpu flies towards the enemies and
                                 engage in battle.
Sniping: the cpu will use mostly its main weapon.
Combat: the cpu will engage in melee combat.
Back Up: the cpu will stay close to you and
attacks at the unit you are targeting.
Evasion: the cpu will avoid confrontation with the
enemy but will shoot at them once in a
                                  while at long range.
If you are playing with a friend, pressing L1 will
tell your partner your current status.

Shoot + Melee (R1): fires sub weapon if the MS has one.
Melee + Jump  (R2): special melee attack.
Shoot + Jump  (L2): manually reload main weapon for some MSs

Sniping mode: hold down the Search button (circle) to engage in sniping
mode.  The camera will become first-person view and you wont
be able to move your MS while in sniping mode.

There is no button to push to block with the shield. To increase the chance
of blocking an attack, move so your shield face the enemy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.2 How to transform
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many MSs from Zeta series can transform into MA mode; Zeta Gundam for
example can transform into waverider.
To transform in the game, simply hold Jump(X) and dash.  You have to hold
the direction you want to fly; otherwise, you'll transform back to
MS mode. Does this mean transformable MSs cannot do a normal air dash?
Wrong.  You can still do a regular air dash without transforming; just don't
hold down Jump and dash at the same time.
Also, when you are in MA mode, you can control the altitude with Jump(X).
Press Jump(X) to increase altitude and release Jump(X) to decrease altitude.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.3 Battle Gauge System
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When you are playing, you may notice 2 coloured bars on the top of the
screen (one blue and one red).  The blue bar represents the strength of your
forces while the red one represents strength of the enemy forces. Every MS
in the game has a certain value. The more powerful the MS is the higher it
costs. When a MS is destroyed, its value will be subtracted from its
respective bar.  You complete a mission when the strength of the enemy
forces reaches zero, where as you'll lose the game if your forces' strength
reaches zero,  Refer to Section 3 for the cost of each MS.  Depending on the
situation, the value each side starts with will look like this:

 Human+cpu vs 2 cpus     = 600 vs 400
  2 humans vs 2 cpus     = 600 vs 500
 Human+cpu vs human+cpu  = 600 vs 600
 Human+cpu vs 2 humans   = 750 vs 600

Note: cpu units cost 50% less than human-controlled units

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.4 Radar
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Many players under-estimate the importance of using the radar. It is useful
because you can see if the enemy is trying to sneak up behind your back.
The radar is located at the top right corner of the screen.
Blue repessents you.
Green is a friendly unit.
Red is an enemy unit.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.5 Hyper combination
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is a new feature that encourages teamwork between you and your ally.
Right underneath the pilot name is a green gauge that will increase when you
do one of the following things.
-you and your ally hit the same target at the same time or immediately one
  after another.
-you hit a target that is aiming at your ally.
-you block an attack that is fired towards your ally.

When the green gauge fills up, you can activate hyper combination by pushing
the command/communiate button(L1).  If you are playing with a human player,
both of you have to press it at the same time in order to activate HC.
Once activated, there'll be a cutscene and you and your ally's MS will glow.
Hyper combination will boost the attack power, speed, and armour. You
and your ally also cannot be stunned or knocked down by enemies' attacks,
but you will take damage if you get hit. Also, friendly fire will be disabled
while HC is activated.  Despite that fact that this only last about 8 seconds,
it is very effective in making combo attacks.  Keep in mind that the AI can
use hyper combination as well, especially when an ace pilot arrives onto the
battlefield.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.6 Space stages
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

There are 2 types of space stages: one has gravity and other does not.
Space stages with gravity: (example moon surface) exactly like ground stages
but with less gravity.
Space stages without gravity: (example Gryps Space) Newbies might take some
time to get used to playing gravity-less
stages but it is not that big of an
adjustment.  Some may find it a bit dizzy
cycling through the targets, but it's not that
                             bad.
Note: Sometimes playing gravity-less stages is
unintentionally harder because many MSs are
dark-coloured.  Yes, you can still know where
it is with the help of the targeting reticle,
but it is harder to judge the distance from it
in the black space background besides taking
                             quick glances at the radar.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2.7 Types of weapons
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In general, there 5 types of weapons in the game: beam based, bazookas,
machine guns, missiles, and cannons. Each type has their own unique
characteristics that may or may not help you on the battlefield. I'll list
the pros and cons of each type.

Beam weapons: (except beam sabres)
effect: stuns or knocks down target (depending on what MS you
                     use)
pros: beams can go through the MS you hit but not buildings
average to very high damage, depending on what MS you
                   pick
                   weapons recharge simultaneously
                   very homing (except weak MSs)
             cons: limited shots
                   slow charging rate (generally)

Bazookas: effect: knocks down or stuns the target
pros: above average to high damage
splash damage (shells explode on contact)
               quite homing
cons: shells can be destroyed by weapon fire
               long reload time

Missiles: effect: knocks down target
pros: high to very high damage (except Gyan)
               very homing
               splash damage
         cons: limited shots
missiles can be destroyed by weapon fire
Note: Z Gundam's grenade launcher fires grenades that act like a missile.

Machine gun: effect: stuns the target (if more than 3 bullets hit)
            pros: shells cannot be destroyed
                  fast reload time
great for making combo attacks with your ally
                  lots of ammo
            cons: below average damage
hard to obtain high accuracy rate

Cannons: effect: knocks down target
        pros: average to high damge
shells cannot be destroyed by weapon fire
travels in parabolic arc (except Acguy and Z'gok)
sniping mode available (except Acguy and Z'gok)
              quite fast reloading time
cons: cannot walk and shoot at the same time
              high recoil
Note: No MS from the Zeta series uses cannon-type weapons

==============================================================================
3.  List of MS
==============================================================================

Note: cpu controlled units cost 50% less than human-controlled units
"G" stands for ground stages and "S" stands for space stages

Pallas Athene, Bolinoak Samaan, Barzam, Byarlant, Gaza C, and Psycho Gundam
Mk.II are not in the game, but they will be added in AvsT DX. (Yeah!!)

Available pilots:
AEUG: Kamille Bidan, Quattro Bajina, Amuro Ray, Emma Sheen, Reccoa Londe, Fa
Yuiry, Katz Kobayashi
Titans: Jerrid Messa, Mouar Pharaoh, Paptimus Scirocco, Four Murasame,
Yazan Gable, Kacricon, Rosamia Badam, Sarah Zabiarov, Buran Blutarch,
Lila Milla Rira, Haman Karn (available only if Qubeley is unlocked)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.1   A.E.U.G.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A * indicates that the MS is not available in the aracde version.

RGM-79R GM II
HP:420
Cost:170
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle     Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Vulcan          Ammo:40
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilities:n/a
Commemts: basically same as GM but with minor improvements. An 1 hit air dash
melee move is added for gravity stages. Beam spray gun is replaced
by beam rifle with only 10 shots, not 12.  Shield doesn't break in
half anymore. The weakest MS from the Zeta era.

MSA-003 Nemo
HP:440
Cost:200
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle     Ammo: 10
Sub weapon: Vulcan          Ammo: 40
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilities: n/a
Commemts: AEUG's mass production type MS.  It has average overall abilities,
but not quick enough against transformable MSs. Its special melee
is very effective in making melee combos.  However, do not
underestimate it because Nemo can be very dangerous in the hands
         of an expert.

*MSA-005 Methuss
HP:460
Cost:195
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Arm beam gun x2     Ammo:20
Sub weapon: Missile              Ammo:3
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities: transformable
Comments: Least expensive transformable MS in the game. It has mediocre
offensive capabilities but has a surprisingly low boost gauge
consumption rate (lower than most, if not, all other units).

RMS-099 Rick Dias (red/*black)
HP:480
Cost:250
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam pistol                 Ammo:8
            Clay bazooka                Ammo:15
Sub weapon: Back beam pistol (red only)  Ammo:8
           Head vulcan (black only)     Ammo:40
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities:-Red Rick Dias only: if select beam pistol as main weapon,
press Shoot+Jump(L2) to switch beam pistols when low on
ammo. The one on the back will recharge but the one you are
                  carrying won't.
Comments; Besides have different sub weapons, the black and red Rick Dias also
have different melee moves.  If you are going to use beam rifle,
pick the red one because you basically get to use 2 beam pistols
(16 shots instead of 8).  Personally, I prefer clay bazooka because
Rick Dias has a very wide shooting angle when using the bazooka.

*MSK-008 Dijeh
HP:480
Cost:250
Terrain: G
Main weapon: Beam rifle        Ammo:10
            Clay bazooka      Ammo:15
Sub weapon: Vulcan             Ammo:40
Melee: Beam naginata
Shield: no
Special abilities:-Its special melee is not an attack but a defensive move .
It's a spinning beam naginata shield that blocks all types
of attacks (Gelgoog has the same move)
-It still has Gelgoog's weakness, that an attack hitting
the hand that spins the naginata will inflict damage, but
for Dijeh, chance of that happening is very rare because
Dijeh moves its hand as it spins the naginata.
-The spinning naginata also has a counter attack move which
activates whenever you block a melee weapon.
Comments: Too bad you can't use Dijeh in space, otherwise nobody would use
Rick Dias. Dijeh is pretty much the same as Rick Dias, except that
Dijeh has way nastier melee moves.  Again, I would prefer using
clay bazooka instead of beam rifle.

RX-178 Gundam Mk.II
HP:500
Cost:295
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle         Ammo:6
            Hyper bazooka      Ammo:8
Sub weapon: Vulcan              Ammo:40
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilities:-Press Shoot+Jump(L2) to reload main weapon.  Its hyper
bazooka fires a special type of ammo that after a certain
distance the round defrags for a "shotgun like" scattering
                  effect.
Comments; For a cost of only 295, Mk.II is a very good suit. Its main appeal
is the reloadable main weapon. The only drawback to the reloadable
main weapon is that when 2 units gang up on you, it's really hard
to find a safe spot and reload.  This is a good MS to use when you
are playing with another person because both of you can afford to
         die once without losing.

*RX-178+FXA-05D Super Gundam
HP:500
Cost:295
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Long beam rifle      Ammo:1
Sub weapon: Missile x2            Ammo:6
Melee: Combat
Shield: no
Special abilities:-transformable
-like Big Zam's large mega particle cannon, its long beam
rifle can shoot through anything (and I do mean anything).
-if you fire the long beam rifle while in MA mode, the beam
                  won't go through buildings
Comments: Super Gundam is not a practical, easy to use MS. Yes, it's long
beam rifle is very powerful and can shoot through anything (the
"shoot behind buildings" strategy works well). And yes, it's
transformable so you fly away quickly when things go bad. However,
that's where the advantages end.  Its long beam rifle is powerful
but you only get 1 shot and recharging it takes 5 seconds.  Also,
you become a sitting duck right after you fire it. Its missiles are
only useful at long range and its melee is a lousy 1 hit.

MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki
HP:500
Cost:310
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle      Ammo:10
            Clay bazooka    Ammo:15
Sub weapon: Vulcan           Ammo:50
Melee: Beam Sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities:-clay bazooka shoots "shotgun like" scatter rounds, like
Gundam Mk.II's hyper bazooka; however, the round
                  defragmentates once it is fired.
-standing special melee is spinning beam sabre shield that
like the spinning beam naginata shield, blocks all types
                  of attacks.
-spinning beam sabre has a smaller diameter than Dijeh's
spinning beam naginata and still has the same weakness
                  as Gelgoog's spinning naginata
-spinning beam sabre also has a counter-attack move like
                  Dijeh
Comments: Why did Capcom tone down the Hyaku Shiki so much? It costs the same
as Gundam but it's inferior to Gundam in every aspect.  Even Char's
Gelgoog is somewhat better than Hyaku Shiki.  First, it has a very
awkard shooting angle. To its right it has a wide shooting angle,
but to its left it is extremely narrow.  Its dashing melee is only
1 hit. On gravity stages, its flying kick is weaker than Char's
Gelgoog, but in zero G stages, the flying kick is replaced by the
more useful cross beam sabres attack.  Its clay bazooka is basically
a shotgun and it is very good at shot range.  The drawbacks this
MS has outweighs the few advantages, so if you find Hyaku Shiki hard
to use, I suggest you pick Gundam or Gabthley instead.

MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam
HP:520
Cost:375
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle                                       Ammo:10
            Hyper megalauncher                               Ammo:3
Sub weapon: Vulcan (if select beam rifle)                     Ammo:40
Grenade launcher (if select hyper megalauncher)   Ammo:2
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilities:-transformable
                 -shield is invincible
-when sabre is not drawn, its special melee is a beam rifle-
turned beam sabre 2 hit slash
-sniping mode available when using hyper megalauncher
Comments: The best MS in the game. Zeta Gundam dominates this game like Gundam
dominates FvsZ DX. Fast and transformable, it has decent armour,
powerful weapons, and an invincible shield. The only drawback is
its high cost, but this ultra high performance MS justifies the
         high cost.

*FXA-05D G Defenser

Sub weapon: Missle x2            Ammo:6
Melee: none
Shield: no

                 -unlimited flight
Note:-not playable in the arcade version
-playable in the PS2 version but in VS mode only.

RGM-79R GM II
Cost:170
same as AEUG's GM II, just different colour

RMS-106 Hizack
HP:440
Cost:195
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Zaku machine gun kai                 Ammo:140
            Beam rifle                           Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Missile pod (if select beam rifle)    Ammo:6
(see special abilities if using machine gun)
Melee: Beam sabre (if using machine gun)
Heat hawk (if using beam rifle)
Shield: yes
Special abilities:-if using machine gun, press Shoot+Melee(R1) to make a
blocking motion with your beam sabre for half a second.
(IMO, this move is completely useless because the beam
sabre is too thin to block any long range attacks, and in
order to successfully block a melee attack, you must make
sure the timing is right, which is very difficult to do)
Comments: After the one year war, the Federation redesigned the Zaku II and
the result is Hizack. This is not a bad MS considering its low cost,
but don't expect too much because it is not fast enough against
transformable MSs.  I would prefer using beam rifle because you
get the missile pod.  Machine guns are no longer good in this game.

*RMS-106CS Hizack Custom
HP:440
Cost:195
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam launcher     Ammo:10
Sub weapon: see special abilities
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities:-sniping mode available
-also has the same useless "blocking with beam sabre" move
that all machine gun carrying Hizacks have
Note: To play as Hizack Custom, select Hizack and choose beam launcher.
Comments: I do not like using Hizack Custom because its beam launcher is slow.
Like Guncannon's beam rifle, the beam launcher waits a split second
before firing.  The beam launcher is more powerful than Hizack's
beam rifle but in return you have to give up the shield and missile
pod, and it is not worth it.

*RMS-106 Hizack (EFSF colour)
Same as regular Hizack, but cannnot use beam launcher. In other words, you
cannot have Hizack Custom in EFSF colour. Regular Hizacks are dark green and
the EFSF versions are blue.

*RMS-117 Galbaldy Beta
HP:460
Cost:200
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle       Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Shield missile    Ammo:2
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilites:-Once shield is destroyed, shield missile will be disabled.
Comments: Not a very good MS.  Like Hyaku Shiki, it has an awkward shooting
angle.  Also, the shield is too weak and if it gets destroyed, you
can't use missiles anymore.  I would prefer using Nemo rather than
         Galbaldy Beta.

*RMS-108 Marasai
HP:480
Cost:225
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle     Ammo:30
Sub weapon: Vulcan          Ammo:40
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: no  (it actually has one, but it doesn't block)
Special abilites:-Its beam rifle is a hybrid of a conventional beam rifle and
a machine gun.  It can fire up to 3 beams in a row, but each
beam does less damage than the beam of a coventional beam
                 rifle.
Comments: The hybrid beam rifle maybe a strong appeal, but it is not a
practical weapon.  If you use it like a machine gun, you'll run out
of ammo very quickly. If you use it like a conventional beam rifle,
one beam is way too weak.  In fact this is the only long range beam
weapon in which the beams do not penetrate the MS you hit.  Also,
Marasai has a shield (it's on its right shoulder) but it doesn't
block!  I don't know why Capcom left its shield out.

ORX-005 Gaplant
HP:480
Cost:275
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam cannon          Ammo:16
Sub weapon: Double beam cannon
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities;-transformable
-double beam cannon is basically the same weapon as beam
cannon; the difference is that you fire both of them at
                  the same time.
Comments: This is a good MS to use.  Its beam cannon has 16 shots, which is
plentiful if you use it appropriately.  It also has very good
melee attacks and is quick enough to fly away when things go bad.
Overall, this is a well-balanced MS.

NRX-044 Asshimar
HP:520
Cost:275
Terrain: G
Main weapon: Large beam rifle     Ammo:12
Sub weapon: Rapid punch
Melee: Combat
Shield: no
Special abilities:-transformable
-long distance flight is possible while in MA mode.
Comments: Asshimar's large beam rifle is quite powerful, but this is the only
weapon it has so you cannot go trigger happy.  Note that the large
beam rifle knocks down any unit you hit instead of stunning them.
Although this is not a bad MS by any means, I prefer using Gaplant.

PMX-000 Messala
HP:500
Cost:275
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Mega particle cannon x2      Ammo:6
Sub weapon: Missile launcher x2           Ammo:6
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities:-transformable
                 -cannot be knocked down
                 -sniping mode available
Comments: This MS excels in long range battles.  Its mega particle cannons
recharge very quickly, so you never run out of ammo.  Its melee
attacks are actually pretty decent, despite the fact that it is
always a 2 hit move.  However, one thing I don't like about Messala
is its size.  Because the camera is placed way too low, sometimes
the MS itself can unintentionally block your view.

RX-178 Gundam Mk.II
Cost:295
Same as AEUG's Gundam Mk.II, just different colour.

RX-139 Hambrabi
HP:520
Cost:300
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Arm beam cannon        Ammo:10
            Whip (Sea serpent)     Ammo:1
Sub weapon: Back beam cannon x2     Ammo:6
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities:-transformable
-has weaker armour than other MSs in the same class
-When hitting the enemy with the whip, keep hitting Shoot
                  to inflict more damage
-you cannot control the direction of the whip
Comments: The whip is way too strong.  It has longer range than Gouf's whip
but you can't swing the whip like Gouf can.  This is a not a bad
MS, but its armour is too weak.  (Don't let the 520 HP fool you)

RX-110 Gabthley
HP:480
Cost:310
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Feyadeen rifle                     Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Shoulder mega particle cannon x2    Ammo:6
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities:-transformable
-Shoulder mega particle cannons can fire at targets behind
                  its back
Comments: Do not underestimate Gabtheley.  Sure it only has 480 HP and one may
think why not use a cheaper MS like Gaplant.  Gabtheley is actually
very manouverable and has very strong weapons.  Its shoulder mega
particle cannons are the only weapon in this game with a 360 degree
shooting angle.  It also has very decent melee attacks.  Its special
melee turns the feyadeen rifle into a beam sabre. (similiar to Z
         Gundam's special melee)

*NRX-055 Baund Doc
HP:540
Cost:350
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle                         Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Scattering mega particle cannon x8  Ammo:16
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities:-transformable
                 -cannot be knocked down
Comments: This is a pretty good MS, but I don't like using it because it is
way too big.  Like Messala, its size combined with the way the
camera is placed can sometimes unintentionally block your view.
Also, its big ass that sticks out is very annoying since I always
get hit there.  However, it has very quick and strong melee attacks

*NRX-055 Baund Doc (grey colour)
Cost:350
same as regular Baund Doc, just different colour

PMX-003 The-O  (pronounced "thee-oh")
HP:640
Cost:375
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle              Ammo:10
Sub weapon: see special abilities
Melee: Beam sabres
Shield: no
Special abilities:-Its sub weapon is a shield made of beam sabres. It will
hold 3 beam sabres using its left hand and the 2 arms from
its front skirts that can block all types of attacks.
                 -cannot be knocked down
Comments: Scirocco's personal MS.  It has strongest armour and the most lethal
melee attacks in the game.  Its beam sabres shield is actually more
useful than most people think because it has auto aim.  However,
a lack of a secondary weapon means you have to rely on beam sabres
when the beam rifle runs out of ammo.

MRX-009 Psycho Gundam
HP:600
Cost:325
Terrain: All ground stages except Jaburo underground
Main weapon: Scattering mega particle cannon x18      Ammo:90
Sub weapon: Hand mega particle cannon x5              Ammo:50
Melee: Combat
Shield: yes
Special abilities:-has I-field (resistant to beam based weapons, except beam
                  sabres)
-cannot be stunned or knocked down
                 -cannot dash
-press Shoot+Jump(L2) to transform into fortress mode
                 -fortress mode has unlimited flight
                 -shield is invincible
-press Melee+Jump(R2) to bring its shield to the front.
Comments: If you encounter Psycho Gundam during the game, ignore it and
attack other units.  Since it has I-field, the only 2 ways you can
inflict damage are to use non beam weapons and to slice it at
melee range.  If you are using machine guns, don't bother attacking
it.  Even if you are using bazookas, it still takes a long time to
destroy it and you also have to make sure you don't hit its shield
or else you will be wasting ammo.  If you decide to try slashing
it, you should be aware that its most powerful weapon is not its
hand mega particle cannons but it is its simple kick or hand swipe
move.  You get kicked by Psycho Gundam and say good bye to 200+ of
your HP.  If you want to destroy Psycho Gundam to unlcck it, set
your difficulty to Lv1 and use Guntank or Guncannon and keep
         firing the cannons.

3.3 Axis
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

AMX-004 Qubeley
HP:480
Cost:375
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam launcher       Ammo:12
Sub weapon: Funnels              Ammo:20
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities:-3 types of funnel attack
Shoot+Melee(R1) = releases 1 funnel that flies towards and
                                    shoots at the enemy
Melee+Jump(R2) = releases 1 funnel in front of you and
shoots at the enemy when you fire your
                                   main weapon
Shoot+Jump(L2) = same as R1 but releases all of your
                                   funnels instead of just 1.
Comments: Qubeley is a hard to use MS, but if you learn to use its funnels
effectively, Qubeley can be very powerful.  I usually use both
R1 and R2, never L2 because I prefer having the funnels attack both
enemy units instead of just one.  You can never go trigger happy
otherwise you'll run out of ammo very quickly.  Also, I find that
Qubeley's melee moves aren't that great, despite being a very high
         cost MS.
Interesting note: Qubeley not only hovers like most MSs does but also floats
in the air. Notice that its feet doesnt touch the ground.
When unlocked, Qubeley will be part of the Zeon MS roster

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.4 EFSF
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: Most units from FvsZ DX have a cost reduction.

RB-79 Ball
HP:250
Cost:100
Terrain: S
Main weapon: 180mm cannon   Ammo:20
Sub weapon: n/a
Melee: Manipulator
Shield: no
Special abilities:-being the weakest unit in the entire game
-180mm cannon does not knock down units if hit
                 -sniping mode available
Comments: In FvsZ Dx, the Ball is already a cannon fodder unit.  Don't bother
         using this piece of crap.

RGM-79(G) Land GM
HP:420
Cost:145
Terrain: G
Main weapon: Beam rifle             Ammo:10
            100mm machine gun      Ammo:50
Sub weapon: taunt (looks back and waves its hand)
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilities: press Shoot+Jump(L2) to reload machine gun
Comments: I can't believe Land GM now costs less than Zaku I.  You can now
die 4 times using this unit.

RGM-79 GM
HP:400
Cost:160
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam spray gun      Ammo:12
Sub weapon: Vulcan               Ammo:40
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilities: n/a
Comments: Sometimes I prefer using GM over GM II.  It has 12 shots instead of
10 and its shield can break in half.  But still, GM and GM II have
become somewhat obsolete when it comes to fighting transformable
         MSs.

RX-75 Guntank
HP:640
Cost:195
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: 120mm low recoil cannon x2      Ammo:6
Sub weapon: n/a
Melee: Bob missile x2                        Ammo:90
Shield: no
Special abilities:-cannot be knocked down
                 -sniping mode available
-zero recoil when shooting on the ground
Comments: Guntank is still good against non transformable units, but it is too
slow to keep up with the speed of transformable MSs.

RX-79 Land Gundam
HP:480
Cost:225
Terrain: G
Main weapon: Beam rifle           Ammo:10
            100mm machine gun    Ammo:60
            Rocket launcher      Ammo:15
            180mm cannon         Ammo:20
            Missile launcher     Ammo:6
Sub weapon: Chest vulcan          Ammo:30
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilities:-sniping mode available when using 180mm cannon
-press Shoot+Jump(L2) to reload machine gun
Comments: Land Gundam is one of the few MSs from FvsZ DX that did not have
a cost ruduction.  Now it is only an average MS because it is not
quick enough to keep up with transformable MSs.

RX-77-2 Guncannon
HP:560
Cost:225
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle       Ammo:4
Sub weapon: 240mm cannon x2   Ammo:6
Melee: Combat
Shield: no
Special abilities:-sniping mode available
-zero recoil when firing the cannons on the ground
Comments: Guncannon is still a pretty good MS due its cannosn, but its slow
speed makes it hard to fight transformable MSs.

RX-78-2 Gundam
HP:520
Cost:310
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle        Ammo:10
            Hyper bazooka     Ammo:15
            Gundam hammer     Ammo:1
Sub weapon: Vulcan             Ammo:50
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilities:-when shield is completely destroyed, its dashing special
melee is the twin sabre attack
-when using gundam hammer, hold Shoot+Jump(L2) to spin
the hammer that can block all types of attack
Comments: Despite the cost reduction, Gundam remains to be a very good MS.
You may have a bit trouble keeping up with high cost transformable
MSs like Z Gundam, but Gundam is still a strong MS.  If you find
Hyaku Shiki hard to use, this is the MS to choose.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
3.5 Principality of Zeon
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Note: All amphibious MS can swim underwater by holding Jump(X) + dash (same
     as transforming)

MS-05 Zaku I
HP:400
Cost:150
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: 105mm machine gun   Ammo:140
            280mm bazooka       Ammo:15
Sub weapon: Cracker              Ammo:2
Melee: Combat
Shield: no
Special abilities: n/a
Comments: Zeon's weakest MS.  Always use bazooka because its machine gun is
         crap.

MS-06F/J Zaku II
HP:440
Cost:155
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: 120mm machine gun     Ammo:140
            280mm bazooka         Ammo:15
            Megella top cannon    Ammo:30
Sub weapon: Cracker                Ammo:2
           Missile pod            Ammo:6
Melee: Heat hawk
Shield: no
Special abilities: sniping mode available when using megella top cannon
Note: If you select missile pod, main weapon will be 120mm machine gun.
Comments: Zeon's mass production type MS in the early and middle stages of
         the One Year War.

MS-06S Char's Zaku II
HP:400
Cost:160
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: 120mm machine gun    Ammo:140
            280mm bazooka        Ammo:15
Sub weapon: Cracker               Ammo:2
Melee: Heak hawk
Shield: no
Special abilities: n/a
Comments: This MS is good in FvsZ DX, but not in this game because its paper
thin armour can barely withstand anything.

MSM-04 Acguy
HP:440
Cost:155
Terrain: G
Main weapon: Head vulcan    Ammo:24
Sub weapon: Cannon          Ammo:10
Melee: Claw
Shield: no
Special abilites: amphibious MS
Cpmments: I like the blue coloured version. It reminds my of Doremon.(sort of)

MS-07B Gouf
HP:480
Cost:195
Terrain: G
Main weapon: 5 chained machine gun    Ammo:40
Sub weapon: Heat rod                  Ammo:1
Melee: Heat sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilities: change the direction of the heat rod by holding Shoot+Melee
                  (R1) + dash
Comments: A weak long range weapon means you have to fight short range all the
time.  There are better choices out there for the same cost.

MSM-03 Gogg
HP:640
Cost:195
Terrain: G
Main weapon: Scattering mega particle cannon     Ammo:2
Sub weapon: Torpedoes x2                         Ammo:12
Melee: Claw
Shield: no
Special abilities: amphibious MS
Comments: This is still a good VS MS if you are fighting against non
transformable units; otherwise, you'll have a hard time keeping
         up with transformable MSs.

MSM-07 Z'gok
HP:480
Cost:195
Terrain: G
Main weapon: Beam cannon             Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Head rocket cannon x6    Ammo:42
Melee: Claw
Shield: no
Special abilities: amphibious MS
Comments: I would pick Hizack instead of this.

MSM-10 Zock
HP:600
Cost:195
Terrain: G
Main weapon: Mega particle cannon x4      Ammo:8
Sub weapon: Head mega particle cannon     Ammo:1
Melee: Claw
Shield: no
Special abilities:-amphibious MS
                 -cannot be knocked down
Comments: It is too big, too slow, and has long dash recovery time.

MS-09 Dom
HP:480
Cost:200
Terrain: G
Main weapon: 360mm bazooka     Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Scattering beam    Ammo:1
Melee: Heat sabre
Shield: no
Special abilities: n/a
Comments: I would choose something else like Nemo, which is a better MS
         overall.

MS-09R Rick Dom
Cost:200
Terrain: S
Basically same as Dom but can only fight in space stages.

MSM-07S Char's Z'gok
HP:440
Cost:225
Terrain: G
Main weapon: Beam cannon             Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Head rocket cannon x6    Ammo:48
Melee: Claw
Shield: no
Special abilities: amphibious MS
Comments: I would prefer Gelgoog instead of this.

YMS-15 Gyan
HP:520
Cost:225
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Needle missiles x5     Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Hide bomb x5            Ammo:10
Melee: Beam sabre
Shield: yes
Special abilities:-if shield is destroyed, both main and sub weapons will be
                  disabled
Comments: You can't reply solely on sword fighting in this game.  The missiles
do pathetic damage and the hide bombs are useless.  It's even worse
         if your shield gets destroyed.

MS-14A Gelgoog
HP:500
Cost:225
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle              Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Spinning beam naginata
Melee: Beam naginata
Shield: yes
Special abilites:-Spinning beam naginata can block all types of attacks.
Comments: Though nowhere near as good as Char's Gelgoog, it is perhaps the
         best 225 MS.

MSN-02 Zeong
HP:520
Cost:300
Terrain: S
Main weapon: Hand mega particle cannon x5    Ammo:30
Sub weapon: Psycommu attack
Melee: Head mega particle cannon             Ammo:1
Shield: no
Special abilities:-Psycommu attack uses main weapons's ammo
                 -cannot be knocked down
Comments: Zeong is only good at long range battles, but its weapons can run
         out of ammo quickly.

MS-14S Char's Gelgoog
HP:480
Cost:310
Terrain: G/S
Main weapon: Beam rifle              Ammo:10
Sub weapon: Spinning beam naginata
Melee: Beam naginata
Shield: yes
Special abilities:-Spinning beam naginata can block all types of attacks.
Comments: Char's Gelgoog is not as good as it is in FvsZ DX because of its
weak armour.  Most of the time 2 hits will take out most of your HP.

==============================================================================
4. Arcade Mode Walkthrough
==============================================================================

Whether you are playing as AEUG or Titans, you have to choose one of following
5 stages to start your game:
Green Noa 1, Jaburo, Green Noa Space, Gate of Zeden, and Kennedy
Port
Each path is slightly different than the rest but the last stage, stage 9,
will always be the same.

Note: Kennedy Port Path is not available in the aracde version.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.1  A.E.U.G. walkthrough
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Green Noa 1 Path

Stage 1       Green Noa 1
Terrain: G

  Ally: Nemo, red Rick Dias
Titans: GM II, Hizack, Gundam Mk.II

Easiest stage in the game, If you can't beat this stage, you'll need LOTS of
practice.
Gundam Mk.II appears only if you are playing a team game.

Stage 2      Moon Surface
Terrain: S

  Ally: GM II, Nemo
Titans: Hizack

Fairly easy stage. 90% of the time the Hizacks will begin ganging up on your
friendly GM II, so don't let it get double-teamed.

Stage 3      Satellite Orbit
Terrain: S

  Ally: Nemo
Titans: GM II, Hizack, Jerrid in his Hizack

Jerrid will appear after the 3rd MS is destroyed. You'll know he's coming</pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
when the music changes. There is also a high probability that they will
activate hyper combination shortly after Jerrid arrives so be careful.

Stage 4      Jaburo 1
Terrain: G

  Ally: Nemo
Titans: GM II, Hizack, Asshimar

There are bascially no places to take cover on this stage because you are
fighting on a runway. Watch out for Asshimar as its large beam rifle can pack
a punch.

Stage 5      Hong Kong City
Terrain: G

  Ally: Nemo, red Rick Dias
Titans: Hizack, Gaplant, Asshimar

Only Gaplant and Asshimar pose a threat here, but don't underestimate the
Hizacks. If you are low on ammo, hide behind the skyscrapers.

Stage 6      Kilimanjaro
Terrain: G

  Ally: Nemo, red Rick Dias
Titans: Hizack, Asshimar, Four in her Psycho Gundam

Four appears after the first MS is destroyed. I strongly suggest ignoring
Psycho Gundam because it takes too long to destroy her and it's not worth it.
Watch out for Asshimar's big gun, which is very deadly.

In the PS2 version; destroy Psycho Gundam and it will be available in Arcade
                   and VS mode.

Stage 7      Side 2 Space
Terrain: S

  Ally: red Rick Dias
Titans: Hizack, Messala, Gabthley

Sick of Hizacks yet? Nothing special in this stage. Just remember not to let
them gang up on you or your cpu ally early on.

Stage 8      Gryps Space
Terrain: S

Ally: red Rick Dias, Z Gundam
Titans: Hizack, Messala, Hambrabi

This stage is pretty similar to the previous stage. Try to avoid fighting
Hambrabi at short range as it has pretty quick melee attacks.

4.3 Stage 9 Walkthrough
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No matter which side you are on and which path you pick, Stage 9 will always
set inside the colony laser. However, the units you are facing will be
different. If you achieve the rank of Daijou by the time you finish stage 8
you get to face Qubeley.

The badge for daijou has 3 blue stripes, 2 yellow stripes, and 3 stars

If rank is below Daijou:

AEUG side            Ally: red Rick Dias, Z Gundam
                  Titans: Messala, Gabthley, Hambrabi
(15-20 seconds after round starts) Scirocco in his
                          The-O

Titans side          Ally: Hizack, The-O
AEUG: red Rick Dias, Hyaku Shiki
(15-20 seconds after round starts) Kamille in his
                          Z Gundam

Unlike Stage 13 in FvsZ DX, the last stage in this game is very difficult.
It is almost impossible to destroy a MS before either Scirocco or Kamille
arrives, depending which side you are on. When either Scirocco or Kamille
arrives, focus your attack on him because you'll continue to be 2 on 3 unless
you destroy him. When you do finally kill him, it will become somewhat easier
to finish this stage.  If you are playing alone, depending on what MS you are
using, set your ally cpu to evasion when you cant afford it to die. You'll
need a lof of luck and hope your cpu ally doesn't die too fast.  If you are
partnered with someone, spread them out. Don't let them triple team you or
your partner. If you are using a transformable MS, use the "shoot and run"
tactic. Remember, attack the story character first when he arrives.

If rank is Daijou or above:
The enemy units will be the same regardless which side you are on
One exception: If you are on the Titans side and input your name as Haman, you
will face red Rick Dias, Hyaku Shiki, and Kamille in his Zeta Gundam.

Ally: (AEUG) red Rick Dias, Z Gundam
     (Titans) Hizack, The-O
Opponent: Rick Dom, Char's Gelgoog
(15-20 seconds after rounds start) Haman in her Qubeley

If you are playing solo:
First you'll face 2 Rick Doms.  Try to damage the 2 Rick Doms as much as you
can but DO NOT kill them.  When Haman arrives, gang up on her.  Her funnels
are very deadly so you must kill her first.  Destroy the 2 Rick Doms only
if you have killed Qubeley.  The reason for that is to avoid facing Quebeley
and Char's Gelgoog at the same time.  If you kill one of the Rick Doms before
Qubeley dies, Char's Gelgoog will show up immediately and you'll have an
extremely difficult time dodging Qubeley's funnels and Char's Gelgoog's
super homing beam rifle at the same time.  After you have defeated Qubeley,
kill a Rick Dom and then Char's Gelgoog. Killing 2 Rick Doms is not enough
to win the stage. You do not have to follow my strategy but I find it
somewhat easier to fight Qubeley without Char's Gelgoog on the battlefield.

If you are playing co-op, you will face 1 Rick Dom and 1 Char's Gelgoog.
When you begin, wait for them to come towards you and shoot them from afar.
When Quebeley shows up, concentrate your attack on her.  Destroy her first
to avoid dealing with those annoying funnels.  Once Qubeley is killed, the
other units would be a bit easier to deal with.

In the PS2 version, destroy Qubeley so it'll be playable in arcade and VS
mode.

It may still sound easy, but believe me, when you play under the
hardest difficulty and highest damage level, it won't be easy.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.4   General Tip
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) When beginning each stage, do not rush towards the enemies. Let them come
towards you. If you have played this game enough times, you'll notice that
the cpu always jump towards you.  Shoot them while they are in the air.
This is one of the reasons while Guntank is so effective against cpu units
in FvsZ DX, but this strategy doesn't always work against transformable MS
For transformable MSs, try to catch them when they run out of boost gauge
in MA mode and have to return to MS mode.

2) Do not blindly engage in melee combat. I have seen many new players just
trying to slice the cpu with the beam sabres but they missed everytime and
got their ass kicked by the cpu.  Whenever you attempt to slash an enemy
unit (whether you hit or miss), you become vulnerable.  Yes, it may look
cool on replays but most of the time you are better off shooting them at a
distance than fighting them at close range.  The key is to be patient
and wait for an opprtunity to counter-attack.  Try to lure them to slice
you and when they do, dash around and strike them back. However, be careful
that sometimes the cpu will only draw out the sabre to lure you to slash
it, then it will dash back and shoot at you.

3) Watch your ammo. Do not go trigger happy. This is especially true if you
are using beam weapons as you'll run low on ammo quickly and most beam
weapons have a slow recharge rate.  Of course if you are using machine gun
you don't really need to pay attention to this tip.  Anyways, don't get
frustrated if your shots don't hit. I remember when I first started playing
FvsZ DX I would always get impatient when my shots missed and I would keep
wasting ammo until finally one shot hit, but by then I don't have enough
  ammo to finish the cpu.

4) If your MS has a vulcan, use it. Yes vulcans do pathetic damage but they
are good against units with little bit of HP left. Why waste a shot of your
main weapon if vulcans can do the trick? Plus, now vulcans have a longer
range than they used to have. Because most vulcans are mounted on the head,
make sure the head is facing the target before firing.

Note: Land Gundam's vulcan is mounted on the chest so the chest has to face
the enemy in order to connect hits.

5) Learn the cost of each and every MS. This is very important whether you are
playing solo or co-op because it affects which MS you pick. Since in each
stage you have to destroy 4 or 5 or even 6 units, you would want to destroy
the MS that costs the most first so you can advance to the next stage
by killing the least number of units. Depending on what MS you are using,
you can usually only die once or twice in each stage, For example, if
you're using Z Gundam and your cpu ally is a Nemo, then you can die once
and the cpu Nemo can die twice.
  Z Gundam(375)+cpu Nemo(100)+ cpu Nemo(100)=575

  Another example: you=Galbaldy beta(200)  cpu ally=Hizack(98)
  you die twice = 2x200
  cpu dies twice = 2x98
Total = 596  so it means you and the cpu can each die twice.

Basically just work out the math. If it is less than 600 you are okay.

When your are teaming up with somebody, both you and your partner should
pick a MS where both of you can die at least once. If the combined cost
of your MS and your partner's MS is less than 600, then it is ok.
  Examples of good pairings:
1)Z Gundam(375)+Nemo(200)=575  Each of you can die once.

2)Gundam Mk.II(295)+Gundam Mk.II(295)=590  Each of you can die once

3)Gundam/Gabthley(310)+ any one of what I call "the 275 trio" (Gaplant,
    Asshimar, and Messala) = 585
Each of you can die once. I prefer using either Gaplant or Asshimar.
Messala is good against cpu, not in vs
  4)Gaplant(275)+Gaplant/Asshimar(275)=550
Each of you can die once.

  Examples of bad pairings:
Hyaku Shiki(310)+Gundam Mk.II(295)=600  Only one of you can die once. OR
Gundam Mk.II can die twice but
Hyaku Shiki cannot die at all.
The-O(375)+Marasai(225)=600   Only one of you can die once. OR
Marasai can die twice but The-O cannot die at
                                all.
Nemo(200)+Nemo(200)=400   Eventhough both of you can die once, Nemo is
considered a weak MS. You may win the first few
stages but the latter stages will be extremely
                            difficult.

Also, another reason why knowing the cost of each MS is important is so
you won't end up with combos like Gundam Mk.II+GM II.
The person who picked GM II could've picked a much better MS like Gaplant
or another Mk.II.  You will not believe how many times I have been
challenged by people using Mk.II+GM II.

6) This tip is for those playing solo. Learn to give commands to your cpu.
Don't just leave it at normal or else the enemy is going to gang up on it.
If you don't want your ally to wander off, set it to back up so it will
stay close to you at all times. Futhermore, the most important thing is
that if you cannot afford your ally to die, set it to evasion. I have seen
many players not giving commands to their cpu ally and most of the time
they lost the game because the cpu died.

7) Do not repeatedly dash. I have seen players do nothing but dash. Most of
the time, you can avoid an incoming attack by just walking/hovering.  Only
dash when necessary.  Every time you dash, there will be spilt second
recovery time.  Expert players can easily kick your ass by shooting at
you while you are recovering from a dash.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
4.5 Playing VS
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Let me start off by saying that if you are very good against cpu, that doesn't
mean you are good in VS.  The AI in this game is very predictable.  Of course,
real players are not like that, unless they are beginners.  The unofficial
rule is always play against other players on ground stages, so 99% of the
time you'll be playing vs in Green Noa 1.

Before playing, it is always important to communicate with your teammate on
what MS to use.  Both of you should pick a MS which you know how to use and
also make sure that each of you can die once without losing.  The following
is a list of most commonly used combos.
Gundam+Gaplant
Gundam+Asshimar
Z Gundam(HML)+Nemo
Z Gundam(HML)+Hizack(BR)
Gaplant+Gaplant
Z Gundam+Z Gundam
Gabthley+Gaplant

HML= hyper mega launcher
BR= beam rifle

There are  2 strategies in picking what MS to use.  First, use 2 mid
cost units, like the Gundam+Gaplant combo.  Some people use this strategy
cuz both players will be using pretty decent MSs, and no one will be forced
to use a low cost MS.  However, some players like to have 1 high cost MS + 1
low cost MS, like Z Gundam+Nemo combo.  There is really no obvious advantage
as to which strategy is better.  It just depends on your preference.  If the
person using the low cost MS is not a very good player, then maybe they
should use 2 mid cost units instead.

Some people don't like to use same old combos all the time, so they like
to use other MSs.
Hyaku Shiki:
There is a lot of debate as to whether Hyaku Shiki is really that good.
I personally don't like using it mainly due to its poor shooting angle and
its flying kick, which is weaker than Char's Gelgoog's flying kick.  It
is not your beginner friendly MS, but I have seen players who are very good
at using it.  Eventhough it is one of the quickest non-transformable units in
the game, it is still somewhat overpriced.
Rick Dias (bazooka):
The bazooka is probably the only reason why people would use Rick Dias.  It
does pretty decent damage and is very homing.  Also, the back beam pistols
are very useful when you have your back facing the enemy.  Despite being a
non-transformable MS, Rick Dias is actually fairly quick.  This is not the
best VS MS, but not a bad one either.
Hambrabi (whip):
Some people like to use whip because its does a lot of damage, but it has 2
drawbacks.  First, you stop whenever you release the whip.  Whether you hit
or miss, you'll become a sitting duck.  Moreover, you are only a threat at
short range.  In other words, opposing players will either only fight you
at long range or wait for you to come and counter attack when you miss.  Yes,
you have a pair of back beam cannons but you only have 3 shots (2 beams per
shot) and they are only good when you are in MA mode.

The only way to be good at playing VS is to practise.  You can't improve
if you don't play other players.  This applies to basically everything.  How
can you be good at something if you don't have the experience?  The best way
to learn is to goto the arcades.  This is better than playing at home because
you can't have a 4 player game at home.  If you don't want to spend a lot in
the arcades, then watch expert players play, but you can't be good by just
watching other people.

destroy Qubeley in order to unlock it.
As long as you have destroyed it before
either winning or losing the stage,
                                     you will unlock it.

The badge for daijou has 3 blue stripes.2 yellow stripes and 3 stars.

Despite what gamefaqs says, there is no such thing as "unlockable weapons".
Only MSs are hidden, not weapons, so you don't need to "unlock" certain
weapons because the fact is you can't.
Also, you do not have to beat the game using Hizack in order to use Hizack
Custom. To pilot Hizack Custom, select Hizack and pick beam launcher

5.2 Secrets
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-enter your name as Char (has to be in Japanese) and you get to play as
Quattro under Char's name.
Quattro's real name Casval also works.
In the arcade version, the name "Red Comet" works as well.

-Titans secret characters.
You can play as Emma Sheen and Reccoa Londe on the Titans side by entering
their name.
Thanks to Donny Chan for the info.

-complete mission mode for both AEUG and Titans to unlock EX mode and mission
all mode. In EX mode you are given every MS of the side you choose (eg. if
you pick AEUG, you'll get the entire AEUG line-up) and every one of them will
be upgraded to the max. Also, there'll be no HP penalty for using high-cost
MS. However, once one of your MS gets destroyed, it's gone forever. You won't
be given new MS or capture enemy units. And all MSs only receive a repair of
10HP after each mission you played.
In mission all mode, you can load your saved files and play any mission you
have unlocked. (missions that you missed is still not playable) Also read
below.

-Don't have 100% clearance after completing mission mode???
Fear not, because you can still play the missions you have missed.
All you need to do is complete EX mode for both AEUG and Titans. Save.
Then go to mission all mode and load a non-ex mode file and any mission
you've missed will appear. (you won't see a star beside the mission name
if you have not played that mission)

-There is one AEUG mission where you have to destroy 2 Z Gundams. It is by far
the most difficult AEUG mission but it is possible to complete it.  I was
able to beat this mission using a 1 star Gundam and using the following
strategy.

Once you begin, try to lure the Z Gundam with the hyper megalauncher to
attack you and let the 3 friendly Nemos take care of other Z Gundam. Because
the one with HML cannot "walk and shoot", when it fires at you do the
"dash and shoot" move and basically you'll hit it 99% of the time.  Your
friendly Nemos will die very quickly so when the other Z Gundam start
shooting at you, RUN and HIDE. You'll die VERY quickly if they double team
you, no matter what MS you use. Wait til more Nemos arrive and start
repeating the process again. When you finally destroy the Z Gundam with HML,
the other one will be a lot easier to deal with. Don't worry about protecting
the Nemos because the truth is you cant protect them. Let them be decoys. I
lost like 15 Nemos when I beat the mission. Always remember not to get
double teamed and run as far away from them as possible when your ally Nemos
are dead.  If you want you can attack the other Z Gundam first but this
method is a lot harder because the Zeta with the HML poses more threat
than the other Zeta.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5.3 Mission Mode
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In mission mode, you are a pilot for either the AEUG or the Titans. You get to
choose to participate in a variety of missions as you experience the story
of the Z Gundam series. At first, you can only use weak MSs like GM II, but
as you progress you'll be given new MSs or salvage enemy MSs.
Press Square to goto the MS deck to view or repair you MSs

Before you enage in battle, you have to pick the operation you want to be in.
Each operation contains a certain number of missions that help acheive the
operation's objective. You have to complete the operation you are in before
participating in another operation.

Special note: If you can't read japannese, be careful not to play the
operation-ending mission before completing other missions.
A operation-ending mission will have bright red characters
saying it's a operation-ending mission beside the mission title.

Some missions disappear when a certain criteria is met so it is important
to check what other missions are available before and after you play a mission
and save often.

There's a new system that lets you repair you own MSs. After you complete a
mission, a small amount of battle points will be rewarded. You can
use these battle points to repair your MS by highlighting the one you want to
repair and press Square.  This battle points system is very useful on high
cost MS because all high cost MSs suffer a HP penalty whenever you use it in
a mission. When you complete a operation, more battle points will be rewarded.
The more difficult a mission is the more battle points are given.
Here's how many battle points are given after completing a mission/operation:
Mission difficulty:
very easy = 10 pts
easy      = 20 pts
normal    = 30 pts
hard      = 40 pts
very hard = 50 pts
Operation difficulty
very easy = 100 pts
easy      = 200 pts
normal    = 300 pts
hard      = 400 pts
very hard = 500 pts

Altogether, there are 128 AEUG missions and 130 Titans missions.

6.  FAQ
==============================================================================

If you have any questions about this game, send me an email at
[email protected]
I'll update this section as more questions come up.

Q: When will this game be released in North America?
A: Supposedly in Fall 2004 but I think Bandai will postpone the release date.
It is should be released in Q1 of 2005.

Q: Do you think the north american version will have network mode?
A: Don't know

Q: What do you think is the best MS in the game?
A: Z Gundam

Q: Will there be another sequel, maybe ZZ or Char's counter attack?
A: Probably not.

Q: Howcome Bandai didn't include all of the Titan's MS?
A: There would be too many units on the Titans side, making it unfair for
AEUG.  I know they chose not to include Pallas Athene because it is piloted
by Reccoa, who left AEUG in the middle of the story to join Titans. To
avoid having 2 Reccoas on the same battle field, they made it so you can't
use her on the Titans side and left out Pallas Athene in the process.

Q; Will there be a DX version of AEUG vs Titans so they can include the MS
  they left out?
A: PS2 version, maybe.  For the arcade version, AvsT DX is already out in
  Japan.

Q: How do you obtain a newtype rank?
A: To get a newtype rank you must get a high accuracy and evasion percentage,
destroy enemy MSs and avoid getting killed. Your accuracy % and evasion %
will determine what rank you'll get:
  75%-79.99% = E
  80%-84.99% = D
  85%-89.99% = C
  90%-94.99% = B
  95%-99.99% = A
  100% = S

Q: Is there a easy way to get daijou rank so I can destroy and unlock Qubeley?
A: Set your difficulty to 1 and damage lv to 4.  Choose AEUG Green Noa 1 path
and pick Z Gundam (BR) for ground stages and Gundam (BR) for space stages.
Make sure you make most of the kills and don't let the cpu ally die more
than twice. Avoid dying in every stage, but if you do die in a stage, make
sure you have at least 5 kills. Also, use hyper combination whenever you
can.  Obtaining a newtype rank also helps.  (BR = beam rifle)

Q: Have you written other faqs?
A: This is the first faq I have ever written.

Q: Why did you write this guide?
A: I wrote it for those who are new to this game.

Q: Can you tell us a bit about yourself?
A: I am a 20 year old living in Vancouver, Canada.  Currently, I am a student
at VFS (Vancouver Film School).  I am a big Gundam fan although I hate
the Turn A series cuz they look terrible.  My other interests include
playing strategy games like Super Robot Wars, building Gundam model kits,
and watching hockey.  (looks like a NHL lockout is inevitable)

The following question is from Eddie Au
Q: Can this game be played by 4 people using multi tap (aftermarket)
at the same time? I put all 4 controllers on the multi tap and put it in
port A, but my system only detected one controller. can you tell me how to
  set them, thanks
A: No you can't have 4 players at once using multi tap because no matter how
big your TV is, it cant split into 4 screens. In FvsZ DX, you can have 4
players at once IF you have 2 tvs, 2 ps2, 2 copies of the game, and a link
cable, meaning 2 players per tv. However, I don't think you can do the same
thing in AEUG vs Titans. Anyone who can confirm that please email me.

The following question is from Donald Ip
Q: Hi, I am Donald. I've seen your walk through faq at gamespot.com, and I
want to know can i play the japanese version Z gundam using my
  north america ps2 system?
A: You cannot play japanese games on NA versions of ps2 and vice versa.
However, one way to make your NA ps2 play japanese games is to install
a mod chip in your ps2.  Usually in areas with a large asian population
(like Richmond BC), there will be stores that sell import games and some
  does sell mod chips.

The following questions are from Benedict Suen.
Q: What MS is the Dijeh? I don't understand the Japanese names of the MSs.
A: Dijeh is the light blue colour MS that Amuro pilots in the anime.  It has
2 fins on its back.  If you can't read japanese, in the loading pages
  it has the english name.
Q: I saw that Dijeh can transform in the loading pages.  How do you transform
  it?
A; Dijeh cannot transform. I think you have mistaken it with the Hambrabi.
In the loading page, Dijeh is riding on a SFS (sub flight system).  SFSs
are used to transport MSs through earth's atmosphere or in space.
Q: My targeting retical turns blue sometimes. What does it mean?
A: It means you are out of range when the targeting retical turns green, not
  blue.
Q: You know when you said there was an AEUG mission involving 2 Z Gundams.
How do you get it and is it in arcade mode?
A: The mission in which you have to destroy 2 Z Gundams will be available near
the end of the AEUG campaign in mission mode.  The mission is set in
  Seattle.
