INTRODUCTION
This will be my second Mercs 2 guide. It's very probable that a lot of the
content of this guide is also in my Mercs 2 Contacts and Support guide, but it
should be much more compact and specific here. Basically, this is just a list
of all the vehicles available in the game, and how to get yourself the one you
want.
I'm generally a pretty easy going guy about my work, but this little pet of
mine proved to be more of a nuisance than most. I spent a LOT of time going
well out of my way and searching every corner of "virtual Venezuala" for the
different vehicles the game offers, all so that I could write it down for YOU.
I didn't do it for money, for glory, or for any other self centered purpose.
Don't steal this guide. Not in part or in whole. Don't put your name on it.
Don't sic a lawyer on me because you knew where to find something in this
document; I wrote it down.
Now that that's out of the way, know that any vehicle listed herein that I
learned about from somebody else, through my Contacts and Support guide, will
also get credit here. If you should find any vehicle that a) is not listed
and b) IS stockpilable, let me know, with as much detail on type and location
as possible, and I will verify it, add it, and give you the credit you
deserve.
************************************ ii *************************************
CONTENTS
WHAT IS IN THIS GUIDE: A comprehensive list of every stockpilable vehicle
available in the game, in-game text descriptions of those vehicles, common
locations of the vehicles, and other minor, possibly interesting bits of
information.
WHAT ISN'T: First, any information regarding any vehicle which CANNOT be
stockpiled. This is essentially restricted to the larger boats, which give
you a "that won't fit in here!" message if you try to stick them in the dock,
and the infamous "super chopper" that Ewan flies. Aside from that, there
will be NO strategy, NO information about weapons, and very little mission
or Faction related info. The small amount of mission/Faction information that
is offered may constitute SPOILERS, so be warned.

FAQS (that I made up)
1.Q: This game sucks! Why you wastin' your time writing a guide?!
A: Surprise! There are a few of us who enjoy this game! Now, I had
the opportunity to play Playground Of Destruction and, I will admit,
this sequel didn't do anything spectacular with the formula, but that
in no way renders this game unplayable.
2.Q: Where do I find the Pirate Chests/Schematics/Propaganda/etc.?
A: Not here. This guide is only concerned with vehicles.
************************************ iv *************************************
THE VEHICLES
Vehicles will be grouped according to Faction. The format for the list is:
Vehicle Name- The name of the vehicle as given in-game.
Game text description- The game's description, as seen in the PDA Stockpile
screen.
Type- What kind of vehicle the vehicle is.
Resembles- My opinion on what real-world vehicle the vehicle looks like. If
this space is blank, it's because the equipment doesn't look like anything I
worked with in my five years of government service. If you have a suggestion,
send it on over.
Colors*- What different colors the vehicle can be; This only applies to
Civilian vehicles- Militarized equipment has a Faction paint scheme.
Ammo*- How much ammunition the vehicle can carry in its weapon(s). Ammo in
a x/xx format means that the vehicle can fire x rounds at a time, with a
reload period afterward, with a maximum capacity of xx rounds; Ammo in
a xxx format denotes a sustained-fire weapon with a maximum capacity of xxx
rounds. (external) after a listed weapon indicates that the weapon must be
manned by exiting the driver's seat. Does not apply to Civilian vehicles.
Common Location- Where you are most likely to come across the vehicle. If I
say "area", it is a general statement, and you may need to look around a
little. If I give an exact location, you can ALWAYS find said vehicle at said
location each time you open your savefile.
I say- My personal thought and rants about the vehicle.
--CIVILIAN VEHICLES
I'll begin this section with the civilian vehicles. Essentially, anything
unarmed and not sporting a Faction specific paint job falls into this
category.
-------------------
Civilian Affinity
"A big seller to big-buisiness, nothing says "modestly rich" like the Salate
Motors Affinity. Fast and well-balanced, get ready to travel in style!"
Type: Luxury car
Resembles: BMW M3
Colors: Black, White, Sky Blue, Red
Common Location: Caracas/ Cumana area; slightly more common late-game.
I say: Moderately quick, without any severe handling problems, but far too
rare. It isn't worth going looking for one when there are plenty of other,
easier-to-get and just-as-good rides around.
-------------------
Civilian Ambulance
"What could be better for getting around in a war zone? It's just poor form
to shoot an ambulance. Theoretically speaking, of course."
Type: Light Armored Transport
Resembles: Humvee
Colors: White only
Common Location: Acquire during Support Mission "Medicine Man" for Pirate
Contact Ferric Venbles (West Maracaibo).
I say: Its an ambulance. A completely unarmed version of a vehicle you can
get with guns attached.
-------------------
Civilian Bus
"Ever needed to transport a lot of passengers? Here's your answer, though it
may not get many style points."
Type: Bus
Resembles: A big city bus
Colors: White with a blue stripe
Common Location: Found exclusively in the Support Mission "Public
Transportation", for Pirate contact Ferric Venbles (West Maracaibo).
I say: Not a daily driver, but indespensible for one mission in particular.
Also amusing to have around should you get bored and decide to host a small
Faction war back at HQ.
-------------------
Civilian SM Cargo
"Filthy interior and no options past an AM radio, but isn't being left alone
the only luxury you need?"
Type: Twin-axle flatbed
Resembles: A flatbed 5-ton truck
Colors: White only
Common Location: Docks and oil sites.
I say: If only you could bring a friend in multiplayer, you could have him
jump in back with a rocket launcher. But you can't, and so this vehicle is
pretty pointless.
-------------------
Civilian El Diablo
"With over a thousand furious horsepower and raised nearly five feet off the
ground, there's no terrain El Diablo can't handle."
Type: Monster Truck (Car)
Resembles: Chevrolet Chevelle on steroids
Colors: Black with red flames
Common Location: The problem with the El Diablo is that you don't have a way
to stockpile vehicles until AFTER you complete the only mission the car is
available in. Should you decide you want to bang around the jungle in this
thing, here's how to do it:
(courtesy of Flywire)
"You must go with the mission normally until the point when you must
deliever El Diablo, then take the El Diablo out of the garage and blow it
up with C4. Now it will be a mision failed. Take the mision again, and when
you start the mission there should be an El Diablo parked next to the garage.
Complete the mission and bring the Diablo back to stockpile."
CLARIFICATION: You need to blow up the GARAGE, not the El Diablo. Then cancel
the mission, and you should have an extra El Diablo sitting there while you
build a new one. Sorry about any confusion this caused.
-------------------
Civilian Fire Truck
"You don't know how to use the hoses, but you'll certainly draw some attention
with this red pumper. Heavy-duty transmission."
Type: Ladder truck
Resembles: ...
Colors: Red and White
Common Location: Acquire during/after Support Mission "A Fire Burns..." for
Universal Petroleum Contact Alan Smyth (UP HQ).
I say: It's useless, but if you want it...
-------------------
Civilian Forklift
"Zip along in this warehouse favorite! Turns on a dime. Sort of."
Type: Forklift
Resembles: A dimension-shifting alien spacecraft 7000 meters long
Colors: Yellow
Common Location: Docks
I say: You can't lift anything with it...
-------------------
Civilian Fuel Truck
"Everybody needs fuel, and as a bonus it'll make a great car bomb! Sorry,
this one's weapons-free."
Type: Twin-axle flatbed, with fuel container
Resembles: A flatbed 5-ton truck, with a big tank on the bed
Colors: White, with a huge yellow target... Er, fuel tank
Common Location: Anywhere there is fuel. Check the numerous small oil sites
scatttered around Venezuela.
I say: With a top speed of roughly 6 miles per hour and an enormous bomb on
the back of it, I can't see why you'd want one. Though the idea of slapping a
C4 on one is enticing...
-------------------
Civilian Gypsy
"An unfortunate reputation for suddenly catching fire harmed the Gypsy's
market share in other locales, but it sold quite well in Venezuela."
Type: Hatchback passenger car
Resembles: Ford Escort hatchback
Colors: Blue, Black, Green
Common Location: Generally in the Merida and Guanare area; More widespread
late-game.
I say: Wait, is that game description a stab at the Venezualan populace?
Anyway, though it may lack some of the panache of the other rides available,
this ugly little mutt has one thing going for it: Fun factor. This car drifts
like nobody's buisiness! Try it out!
-------------------
Civilian RTR
"One of the last true muscle cars produced by now-defunct Calmot Motors, the
RTR can really move... in a straight line."
Type: Muscle car
Resembles: Chevrolet Chevelle
Colors: Blue, Black, Green
Common Location: East and West Maracaibo, right outside of Home Base;
EXTREMELY common.
I say: This is the car you're most likely to use a lot, due to sheer ease of
access. Go out back of HQ and wait in the road for roughly 4 seconds, and one
will come to you. Tends to get a little squirrely in the back end at high
speeds, and not in a good way.
-------------------
Civilian Street Racer
"Who says you can't have fun in a war zone? Enemy combatants will be a blur
in the rear-view mirror when you cruise by in this custom-tuned racer."
Type: Sports car
Resembles: Mitsubushi Eclipse Spyder
Colors: White with Blue racing stripes only
Common Location: Purchase from pirate contact Spike Reddie (east of Merida).
I say: Too fast for its own suspension. At high speeds, this car becomes nigh
undriveable. If you insist on using one, make sure to use the actual brake
([]; square button), NOT the handbrake (R1) to make turns, or you will just
spin in circles.
-------------------
Civilian Taxi
"The prototypical taxi, complete with rooftop sign and room for four!"
Type: Passenger car
Resembles: Any nondescript 4-door sedan
Colors: Black and White (looks like a police car) with Yellow stripes
Common Location: West and East Maracaibo
I say: More fun to crash into than to drive.
-------------------
Civilian Truck
"Big, square, and utterly unexciting, but sometimes that's exactly what you
need."
Type: Box truck
Resembles: A moving truck
Colors: White only
Common Location: Docks, Merida and Cumana.
I say: Another one of those vehicles you probably won't want, ever.
-------------------
Civilian Vaca T1
"With room for three passengers and relatively clean handling, let the Vaca
T1 get you where you're going unmolested."
Type: SUV
Resembles: Jeep Cherokee
Colors: Mud-streaked White only
Common Location: Acquire during support mission "Mole-a-Cide" for Pirate
Spike Reddie.
I say: Too bad it's so uncommon, because this is actually a pretty smooth
driver. It can take more than its fair share of abuse, too.
-------------------
Civilian Valorous
"The now-defunct Calmot Motors featured the Valorous as its primary family
sedan, and tons are still on the road today, albeit a bit worn around the
edges."
Type: Sedan, I guess...
Resembles: '65 Pontiac GTO, if you ask me
Colors: Beat-up Black, Beat-up Blue, Beat-up Green, Beat-up Gold
Common Location: Guanare; far more widespread late-game.
I say: My personal favorite, it has a decent top end, beyond great handling,
and, if you get a blue one, you can pretend you're Xander Cage while you go
around blowing stuff up.
-------------------
Civilian River Boat
"It's not glamorous nor fast but the river boat can get you where you're going
and keep you under wraps in the process."
Type: Small Boat
Resembles: A tiny boat with a cabin
Colors: Grey
Common Location: Body of water east of Home Base.
I say: Slow
-------------------
Civilian Speed Boat
"Need to cruise the waves in style? Get there quickly with this pointy-nosed
speed boat."
Type: Speedboat
Resembles: Not a freight train
Colors: White with Blue stripes
Common Location: Body of water east of Home Base, docks in East Maracaibo.
I say: Probably the most useful waterborne conveyance in the game.
-------------------
Civilian Motorboat
"You might not be fishing, but why not take it for a spin? Low price and low
power."
Type: Motorboat
Resembles: Small, outboard motor boat
Colors: White only
Common Location: Body of water east of Home Base.
I say: Not the fastest, or the most responsive. You can do much better.
-------------------
Civilian Otter 5
"You're not going to intimidate anybody with one of these, but you'll get
where you're going quickly with its high speed and excellent turn radius."
Type: Jet Ski
Resembles: A Jet Ski
Colors: White with Red seat
Common Location: Body of water east of Home Base, docks in West Maracaibo.
I say: Not so great; You're too exposed.
-------------------
Civilian Fanboat
"More commonly called a swamper, these are sturdy, and well suited for shallow
waters due to their lack of a traditional propeller."
Type: Swamp Boat
Resembles: Boat with a huge fan on the back
Common Location: In the river southwest of Guanare. Go to the very end of the
river, where the islands are.
-------------------
--UNIVERSAL PETROLEUM (UP) VEHICLES
Next up is the UP equipment, which is probably the first combat vehicles
you're likely to encounter (besides VZ stuff). All UP equipment is painted
black, with a UP logo.
-------------------
UP Archer SAM
"The Archer anti-air vehicle is usually only produced for official armed
forces, but Universal Petroleum has gone to great lengths to protect their
facilities."
Type: Light Anti-Air Missile Launcher
Resembles: Humvee
Ammo: 8 anti-air rocket
Common Location: UP oil sites
I say: It's AA, which is fairly useless, mounted on a hard-to-drive base
vehicle.
-------------------
UP Paladin
"With a frightening turret-rotation speed, the Paladin is one of the most
advanced commercially-available tanks in the world."
Type: Heavy Tank
Resembles: M1A1 Tank
Ammo: 1/40 Turret; 500 Machinegun (external)
Common Location: UP HQ parking lot, UP outpost west of West Maracaibo
I say: A black tank... How cool is that? Second best tank in the game.
-------------------
UP Technical
"An economical choice for your fast-attack needs. Standard installation
includes a 12.7 mm PKM machine gun."
Type: Attack pickup
Resembles: Chevrolet S-10, only more dangerous
Ammo: 500 Machinegun (external)
Common Location: West Maracaibo, near Home Base; EXTREMELY common
I say: Fast as anything, but corners badly, and I don't like any armed
vehicle that forces me out of the driver's seat to engage the enemy.
-------------------
UP Technical GL
"What's the difference? The 40mm machine gun. That's right, it's a fully
automatic grenade launcher! Take one home today!"
Type: Attack pickup
Resembles: Chevrolet S-10, only FAR more dangerous
Ammo: 3/60 Grenade (external)
Common Location: UP Outpost west of West Maracaibo
I say: Same as UP Technical, only with a bigger gun
-------------------
UP Rogue
"Armed with twin .50cal machine guns and 70mm rocket pods to deal with any
situation. Complete with snazzy corporate paint job!"
Type: Fast-attack helicopter
Resembles:
Ammo: 1000 machinegun; 14 rocket
Common Location: UP Outpost west of West Maracaibo
I say: Awesome little chopper. I love these little things. Though it lacks
stand-and-fight ability and lifting power, this thing can fit into spots a
snake would get stuck in.
-------------------
--PIRATES
Also around from game start, the pirates don't bring much to the table
vehicle-wise. Pirate equipment is painted gold with green stripes.
-------------------
Pirate Manley SAM
"Time-tested and effective, this six-wheeled surface-to-air missile system
can keep the skies clear anywhere you choose to deploy it."
Type: Heavy Anti-Air Missile Launcher
Resembles: A SCUD launcher
Ammo: 6 Anti-Air Missiles (external)
Common Location: The Pirate island farthest to the north, with the runways on
it.
I say: Not really worth the trouble to get.
-------------------
Pirate Bashy Scout
"A sturdy, reliable truck with some pirate retrofitting. Standard
installation includes a 12.7mm PKM machine gun."
Type: Attack pickup
Resembles: Chevrolet S-10
Ammo: 300 machinegun (external)
Common Location: Most of the Pirate-occupied islands.
I say: Same truck as the UP Technical, only harder to get.
-------------------
Pirate Gunney Scout
"Small and agile, armed with fourteen dumbfire rockets, the Gunney light
attack helicopter might be decorated for a party, but in a fight it's very
serious."
Type: Light Attack Helicopter
Resembles:
Ammo: 14 rockets
Common Location: Pirate scrapyard, east of East maracaibo, south of UP Outpost
I say: Not as good as the Rogue, but you can carry more troops.
-------------------
Pirate Gunney Transport
"It doesn't have any weapons, but it does have room for four of your best
mates."
Type: Transport Helicopter
Resembles: Huey Cobra
Ammo: NONE!!
Common Location: Only available during Support Mission "Public Transportation"
for Pirate Contact Ferric Venbles (West Maracaibo). Proceed with the mission
as instructed, but, instead of delivering the Pirate agents to the chopper,
abandon them and take the chopper for yourself!
***Thanks to AndySambergSNL for pointing out the chopper. I thought it was
a gunney Scout.***
I say: Aside from its ability to carry you plus four, making this the largest
passenger-capacity chopper in the game, it serves no purpose. No guns?
REALLY?!
-------------------
Pirate Tideripper
"Identical to the civilian model in most respects, but with a snazzy pirate
paint job, nothing else on the water can match the maneuverability of this
puppy."
Type: Jet Ski
Resembles: A Jet Ski
Common Location: Pirate HQ
I say: It doesn't matter what color it is, you still can't shoot from it.
-------------------
Pirate Culican
"Ahoy, matey! Be the scourge of the Venezuelan seas in this modern day
pirate ship!"
Type: Cargo Ship
Resembles: A big boat?
Common Location: Pirate HQ, near the helo pad.
I say: I hadn't realized you could stockpile this. With no guns, I don't
know why you'd want to, but...
(Thanks to netuserms for pointing this out)
--THE P.L.A.V. (GUERRILLAS)
The next Faction you'll encounter is the Guerrillas. Though they don't have
a lot to offer, one vehicle they DO have is well worth it... All P.L.A.V.
equipment is painted sort of a greenish-grey with red and yellow flames. Yes,
flames.
-------------------
Guerrila Arbenz
"Time-tested and effective, this six-wheeled surface-to-air missile system
can keep the skies clear anywhere you choose to deploy it."
Type: Heavy Anti-Air Missile Launcher
Resembles: A SCUD launcher
Ammo: 6 Anti-Air Missiles (external)
Common Location: You'll be going WELL out of your way if you want one of
these... And then you've got to get it back...
East of Guanare, there is a roughly circular area of the map, with two large
brown areas in it, that sort of bleeds east into the river. This is a large
Guerrilla encampment, and there are two or three Arbenz SAMs on site. This
area is completely surrounded by tall cliffs! In order ot get a SAM out,
commandeer it, and drive to the eastern edge of the camp, where it meets the
river. VERY CAREFULLY navigate north along the river bank- You will have to
drive over some large boulders to do this- and you will eventually reach a
path out of the jungle to Guanare. The path leads north, across a bridge, and
then west along the river to Guanare.
I say: Due to a serious lack of enemy air-based threats, acquiring any anti-
air vehicle is pointless. Acquiring THIS one is just masochistic.
-------------------
Guerrilla Jackal
"When tearing through the Venezuelan jungles, what better than an off-road
buggy? With room for a passenger and gunner, let this puppy give you some
real traction."
Type: Dune buggy
Resembles: A go-kart with a God complex
Ammo: 500 Explosive machinegun (external)
Common Location: Jungle south of Home Base, around Guerrilla HQ
I say: This thing isn't fooling anybody. Unless you've got a guy manning
that gun for you, you're better off in a cardboard box.
-------------------
Guerrilla Zamora
"Show them you're a rebel WITH a cause in this sleek P.L.A.V. attack chopper."
Type: Heavy Gunship
Resembles: AH64 Apache
Ammo: 500 machinegun; 40 rocket; 12 anti-armor rocket
Common Location: Open the map and look at the Guerilla HQ area (almost
directly south of Home Base). Nearby, slightly to the southwest, you should
see a long trail in the jungle that follows a rough circular path. Extending
north from the circle are two long paths. If you follow the eastern (right)
one of these to the circle path, and go slightly east on the circle path,
you'll come to a small P.L.A.V. camp where a Zamora is parked. Trust me, once
you find it once, it's easy to get back.
I say: At game start, this is hands down the best helicopter you can get in
bulk. Even better, it can actually winch the smaller Rogue, so you can
stockpile an airport's worth of air transport in minutes! Stockpile a Rogue,
then use it to fly out to the Zamora. Take the Zamora, winch the Rogue back
to Base, and stockpile both. Save and reset, then fly a Rogue out to the
Zamora agin, winch the Rogue back and stockpile it, then fly the Zamora to the
UP Outpost and winch away ANOTHER Rogue! Save, reset, and repeat.
-------------------
Guerrilla Castro
"The twin rotor blades on this chopper actually break the sound barrier,
creating its distinctive sound. Unarmed, unless you count the teeth."
Type: Transport Helicopter
Resembles: Huey Cobra
Ammo: NONE!!
Common Location: Find the Zamora as described above, and hang out in the area
for a few minutes. A Castro routinely circles the jungle and passes very near
this camp; Just watch the minimap, and you'll see it.
I say: And I want an unarmed helicopter for...?
-------------------
--ALLIED NATIONS (AN)
**THIS IS WHERE THE SPOILERS ARE LIKELY TO BEGIN**
Though there is one Allied contact available early on, most of the following
vehicles won't be available until certain events take place. All Allied
vehicles feature a grey and light green camouflage paint job.
-------------------
Allied Diplomat
"The staple of the Allied tank forces, the Diplomat possesses intimidating
firepower at the cost of some maneuverability."
Type: Heavy Tank
Resembles: M1A1 Tank
Ammo: 1/40 Turret; 100,000 machinegun (external)
Common Location: Allied Outpost west of Caracas
I say: And the winner for best tank is... This thing OWNS. Fast, devastating,
and armored beyond belief, this is the tank you want when something needs
destroyed.
-------------------
Allied Statesman IFV
"A fast APC with attached 25mm cannon, the Statesman IFV can get your cohorts
into- or out of- any situation! Comfortably seats five!"
Type: Armored Personnel Transport
Resembles:
Ammo: 900 machinegun; 1/10 TOW
Common Location: Acquire during Support Mission "Armor'd N Dangerous" for
Allied Contact Lt. Samgee. Requires mission cancellation; Can be repeated.
I say: No, that isn't a typo- This bad boy fires BOTH the machinegun AND
TOW missiles from the cockpit... And that makes it the best APC you can get.
-------------------
Allied Verity Scout
"Breeze past Allied roadblocks! Pose for the media! This sturdy off-road
vehicle includes a .50cal machine gun and room for five."
Type: Light Armored Attack Vehicle
Resembles: Humvee
Ammo: 300 machinegun (external)
Common Location: Purchase from Allied Contact Alex Grisha (East Maracaibo),
throughout Venezuela late-game
I say: Fun fact: It isn't actually "Humvee", it's HMMWV, an acronym for "High
Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle"! I don't much like this truck. The
handling is horrible, unlike the real thing, and you have no offensive
capability from the driver's seat.
-------------------
Allied Verity Scout AT
"What's better for off-roading than some integrated anti-tank weapontry?"
Type: Light Armored Attack Vehicle
Resembles: Humvee
Ammo: 1/10 TOW (external)
Common Location: Purchase from Allied Contact Alex Grisha (East Maracaibo),
throughout Venezuela late-game
I say: Same truck as the machingun version, same complaints.
-------------------
Allied Defender SAM
"The Defender SAM is a highly mobile anti-air vehicle based on the Verity
chassis. Great for guarding convoys, making out of the way deals, and
general 'copter hunting."
Type: Light Anti-Air Missile Launcher
Resembles: Humvee
Ammo: 8 anti-air rocket
Common Location: Allied HQ
I say: It's AA, which is fairly useless, mounted on a hard-to-drive base
vehicle. Not worth the time.
-------------------
Allied Consul APC
"The bigger, badder brother of the Allied Verity Scout, the Consul APC also
has a .50cal machine gun and eight big tires for serious off-road fun."
Type: Light Armored Personnel Transport
Resembles: USMC Amphibious Assault Vehicle (or Anti-Apricot Vehicle)
Ammo: 300 machinegun (external)
Common Location: Purchase from Allied Contact Sgt. MacMurdo (Allied Outpost,
west of Caracas)
I say: The Allies have two APCs on hand, and this ain't the good one.
-------------------
Allied Ambassador
"Bristling with weapontry, helicopters don't get much more intimidating than
the Ambassador. Decimate your opponents from the air!"
Type: Heavy Gunship
Resembles: AH64 Apache
Ammo: 1200 machinegun; 38 rocket; 8 anti-armor rocket; 4 anti-air rocket
Common Location: Purchase from Allied Contact Lt. Samgee (directly east of
Home Base), acquire during Support Missions "Get To The Choppa" for
Allied Contact Lt. Samgee and "Get the Truck Out!" for Allied Contact Sgt.
MacMurdo, from Home Base, swim to remains of oil rig and wait- One routinely
patrols this area.
I say: I gave so many locations for a reason- This thing rules the skies.
It's fast, armed with a ridiculous array of weapons, and can lift almost
anything. I don't understand the fuss about the VZ Ribera, because you
could blow up the world twice with one of these, and have spare ammo.
-------------------
Allied Minister
"The workhorse of the Allied military, the Minister can carry troops and lift
light vehicles. Door-mounted miniguns provide excellent defense against
enemy troops."
Type: Troop Transport
Resembles: Blackhawk
Ammo: 3000 machinegun (external)
Common Location: Okay, this ones a little tough to get ahold of. First,
there is a VERY SPECIFIC window of time and a VERY SPECIFIC set of conditions
to meet to consistently get these:
1) You must have completed past the "Blow Up the Oil Rig" mission
2) You MUST have HVTs still at lasrge
3) You MUST NOT have completed the missions to get a Nuke
That said, here's the gist: Capture (not kill) a High Value Target. Toss
him into a car (or carry him) out of the combat zone, and to the dock
north of Merida, where you start the actual story portion of the game, or
where Pirate Contact Spike Reddie is (whichever you prefer).
Drop the HVT somewhere safe, and call an extract chopper into the center of
the dock area, inside the gated area.
Once the chopper is on station, go out toward the gate/road. Very soon, a
second Minister should appear; But THIS one you can hijack! Do so, stockplie
it, and come back, and, AS LONG as the extract chopper is on site, Ministers
will continue to spawn for you to steal!
(All credit for this tactic and the instructions for it go to netuserms.)
I say: If you're into carrying a small combat force around, this is a pretty
useful piece of equipment. The miniguns are devistating.
-------------------
--CHINA
The last Faction you'll be "dealing" with, the Chinese have equipment that,
in general, seems to mirror the Allies'... Except China has slightly lower
standards. Chinese vehicles sport a light green and grey camo pattern.
-------------------
Chinese Rui Shi AA
"Sometimes you catch some flak, sometimes you throw it! Be on the right side
with the Rui Shi heavy anti-aircraft system!"
Type: Heavy Anti-Air Missile Launcher
Resembles:
Ammo: 3000 machinegun; 8 anti-air rocket
Common Location: Purchase from Chinese Contact Lt. Zhang (Cumana), China HQ
I say: Kind of pointless. There are other armored vehicles available, and
though this is the only ground vehicle-based AA system that fires from the
cockpit, there really isn't any situation that necessitates anti-air
capability like this.
-------------------
Chinese Dongzhi
"Made in China, this half-ton 4-wheel drive vehicle is perfect for light
tactical tranpotation. Includes swivel-mounted 7.62mm PKM machine gun."
Type: Light Armored Attack Vehicle
Resembles: A Jeep
Ammo: 300 machinegun (external)
Common Location: Purchase from Chinese Contact Lin Hsu (Gurrilla HQ), Cumana
and Caracas area late-game.
I say: Too light, too easy to spin out, and no driver's seat shooting.
-------------------
Chinese Dongzhi AT
"It might not look like much, but when armed with a TOW missile launcher it's
capable of cutting down even heavy armor."
Type: Light Armored Attack Vehicle
Resembles: A Jeep
Ammo: 1/10 TOW (external)
Common Location: Purchase from Chinese Contact Lin Hsu (Gurrilla HQ), Cumana
and Caracas area late-game.
I say: Same as above.
-------------------
Chinese Chi Lin IFV
"Complete with TOW missile launcher, transport a crowd and keep your head
down with this Chinese staple."
Type: Light Armored Personnel Transport
Resembles:
Ammo: 1/10 TOW
Common Location: Purchase from Chinese Contact Sgt. Chen (Chinese Outpost,
south of Cumana)
I say: If you can't get a Statesman IFV, this thing is a good second, but only
because you can burn up those 10 TOW missiles from the driver's seat.
-------------------
Chinese Hsien Scout
"Originally imported from the US, this bird's been upgraded with a powerful
7.62mm minigun and dumbfire missiles."
Type: Fast-attack Helicopter
Resembles:
Ammo: 1000 machinegun; 14 rocket
Common Location: I have absolutely no idea how I got this...
I say: Chinese version of the UP Rogue. Same equipment, different paint.
-------------------
Chinese Tien Kou
"A fast scout chopper with solid armaments, the Tien Kou light attack
helicopter is the best of both worlds! Be prepared for any situation!"
Type: Light Attack Helicopter
Resembles:
Ammo: 500 machingun; 12 anti-armor rocket; 4 anti-air rocket
Common Location: Purchase from Chinese Contact Lt. Zhang (Cumana)
I say: When you've got the awesome power of the Ambassador available to you,
why choose third best?
-------------------
Chinese Yaogui
"A staple of the Chinese military, the Yaogui and its bigger brother the Tao
Tie are solid, reliable tanks for any situation."
Type: Heavy Tank
Ammo: 1/44 Turret; 500 Machinegun (External)
Common Location: ?... I found mine on the road during Lt. Zhang's "Capture
Outpost" mission.
I say: Not much in the way of special... I'd pick the Diplomat, personally.
-------------------
Mangzhong Truck
"If you need to operate in a contested area, you'll blend in with this
official military transport truck."
Type: Twin-axle flatbed
Resembles: A flatbed 5-ton truck
Ammo: NONE
Common Location: You may be able to snag one of these near Chinese HQ in
Cumana, but mine came from Margarita Island, during the first Allied mission.
I say: Just like the civilian version, with a different paint job.
-------------------
Chinese Garuda
"A small single-passenger chopper armed with the same rockets as the Allied
Ambassador gunship, the Garuda is lightweight and fun."
Type: Light attack helicopter
Resembles:
Ammo: 38 rockets
Common Location: Appears during both the second and third AN final missions.
(thanks to netuserms for this as well)
I say: Given how late in the game you can pick it up, the most useless
helicopter you can get, period.

--THE VZ
Finally, I'll list the VZ Army equipment. In case you need to be told this,
the ONLY way you can acquire any of these vehicles is to "liberate" them from
the enemy; There is no super secret hidden VZ Contact that will sell you this
stuff. Also note that it isn't really a wise idea to rely heavily on VZ
equipment because THE ENTIRE COUNTRY IS AT WAR WITH THEM!! You will be fired
upon by literally everyone but the VZ... And, then, once you fire a shot, you
will be revealed for what you are and the VZ will shoot at you as well!!
VZ equipment is painted in a brown over yellow camouflage pattern.
-------------------
VZ Cortez
"If you need to operate in a contested area, you'll blend in with this
official military transport truck."
Type: Twin-axle flatbed
Resembles: A flatbed 5-ton truck
Ammo: NONE
Common Location: Eastern edge of Cumana, by the water.
I say: It's the same truck as the Civilian SM- Except you get shot at for
driving this one!
-------------------
VZ Cortez RA
"If you ever need to fire eleven missiles in just over a second, the Cortez
Rocket Artillery Vehicles is the easiest way to do it."
Type: Truck-mounted Rapid Missile Launcher
Resembles:
Ammo: 11/55 (external)
Common Location: There is a trail leading south into the jungle from Cumana.
You can find the Cortez RA along this trail.
I say: Turn on the Infinite Ammo code and go berserk with this thing.
-------------------
VZ Caldrone SAM
"Time-tested and effective, this six-wheeled surface-to-air missile system
can keep the skies clear anywhere you choose to deploy it."
Type: Heavy Anti-Air Missile Launcher
Resembles: A SCUD launcher
Ammo: 6 Anti-Air Missiles (external)
Common Location: Throughout Venezuela, very common; Will also appear at Home
Base during a specific mission.
I say: It's VZ equipment, plus it's an anti-air system, and it's only got six
shots... Making it a three-time-loser.
-------------------
VZ Brigante
"Enjoy the countryside in this open-top military vehicle. 7.62mm PKM machine
gun included."
Type: Light Armored Attack Vehicle
Resembles: A Jeep
Ammo: 300 machinegun (external)
Common Location: EVERYWHERE!!! You can't go ten steps without seeing one.
I say: I consider all of the light armor style trucks junk. This is junk
with an enemy paint scheme.
-------------------
VZ Type 54
"Widely considered the fastest tank in the world, the Serrano is an effective
and maneuverable vehicle. Includes 12.7mm machine-gun turret!"
Type: Heavy Tank
Resembles:
Ammo: 1/40 Turret; 500 machinegun (external)
Common Location: Generally in close proximity to high profile targets, most
VZ outposts.
I Say: Can have its uses, but there ARE other tanks available.
-------------------
VZ Caldrone Tank
"The most-produced tank in history, the Caldrone was made quite affordable
by the fall of the Iron Curtain. Old but reliable Soviet technology."
Type: Light Tank
Resembles:
Ammo: 1/40 Turret; 500 machinegun (external)
Common Location: Generally in close proximity to high profile targets, most
VZ outposts.
I say: Again, can be useful in a pinch, but I wouldn't cruise the streets in
it.
-------------------
VZ Zagon-57 Anti-Air
"It may not be top of the line, but it's better than throwing rocks."
Type: Light Tank/ Anti-Air Missile
Resembles:
Ammo: 8/160
Common Location: Generally in close proximity to high profile targets, most
VZ outposts.
I say: Finally, a useful AA system!! Useful, because it doesn't require a
lock to fire... Forget helicopters, use this monster to shoot people!
Ridiculous rate of fire.
-------------------
VZ Ribera
"With contra-rotating coaxial rotors, this single seat attack chopper is fast,
nimble, and deadly."
Type: Light Gunship
Resembles: Hind Gunship
Ammo: 500 machinegun; 40 rocket; 12 anti-armor rocket
Common Location: Appears during a specific mission, can also be found if you
travel to Guanare and head to the southeast corner of town, you should find a
long, split path extending southeast into the jungle. One arm, the western
one, of this path leads to a UP oil refinery. The other leads to a VZ
encampment where you will find the HVT General Pena, as well as a VZ Ribera.
The General, once taken, doesn't come back, but the chopper will.
I say: This is one piece of VZ equipment that should be in EVERY stockpile.
This chopper is EXTREMELY helpful for one mission in particular; Beyond that,
though, not so much.
-------------------
VZ Alonzo
"Developed in France, the surprisingly effective Alonzo is an elegant, lightly
armed helicopter. Includes a minigun and two anti-tank missiles."
Type: Fast-attack Helicopter
Resembles:
Ammo: 3000 machinegun; 2 anti-armor
Common Location: Solano's Bunker
I say: Just like the Rogue, except you can terrorize two tanks with it. Not
really worth sacrificing the 14 rockets.

CHEATS
If ya need cheats, I got 'em!
All Cheats must be entered under the "Factions" screen in the PDA menu
(press Select). These codes have all been tested and confirmed.
$1,000,000: Right, Down, Left, Up, Up, Left, Down, Right
-Adds $1,000,000 to your total EACH TIME it is entered.
Full Fuel: Right, Down, Left, Up, Right, Down, Left, Up
-Completely fills your Fuel to 10,000.
Infinite Ammo: Right, Left, Right, Right, Left, Right, Left, Left
Infinite Life: Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right
Reset Factions To "Neutral":Up, Up, Up, Up, Down, Down, Right, Left
-Can be helpful if you blow up somebody you didn't mean to (or did mean to)
or if you let your son play on your file. Note that this resets EVERY
Faction, including the ones you were Friendly with.
Drive Underwater!: Not a "cheat", but it requires one to work. Input the
Infinite Life code. Now, drive any tracked vehicle (tank, APC) into the
water. You can now drive your vehicle on the ocean floor... But ONLY in
reverse! Cuts serious time off of returning to Home Base to stockpile, plus
you get stealth kills on enemy ships when you shoot them from below.
-This 'trick' comes courtesy of the boards. If it was posted by you, (and
you're worried about it), speak up and I'll give credit. Note that I HAVE
personally verified that this works.
Helicopter "respawn" points: These spots will cause specific models of helo
to spwan continuously for you to hijack, so long as a helo of the same type
is parked in the vicinity! The only method of consistently gathering Allied
Minister (Blackhawk) Transports that I know of. (Thanks to ##### for the
list.):
