: Latest Version Info
------------

Version 1.2 - This might be the last update I do. I'm making all the final
additions and releasing it to GameFAQs. Also, I took a lesson from my FF4A
FAQ and added user strategies to this one.

1.2 - Completed: Tuesday, March 7, 2006 @ 2:26 AM. Size: 32k
   - Added User Strategies!
   - Most likely the final release

============================================================
: Introduction
------------

This FAQ will go over every item you can obtain in the stages. From X's armor
parts, to Zero's weapons and even the Rare Metals found in each stage, this FAQ
will go over each item, what you need to get it, and what characters you will
require.

A special thanks to the Megaman X8 Gameplay Board at GameFAQs for their help
in writing this FAQ. A list of users who contributed can be found here:

DarkMoon Dragon - Most of the basic info was thanks to him.

Vardamir Nólimon & OverdriveDragun - Alternate route to Shock Absorber Z.

somestrangeguy - Alternate route to K Knuckle Z.

(definitely more to come, keep in mind this list isn't close to being complete)

I know there's more, I've just forgotten them.  Please email me if you think
you should be credited as well.

Check please if the numbers and dots align. If not, then switch to a monospaced
font to properly view this document.

The default Wordpad font (Courier New) is most suited for viewing this
FAQ.  However, I used Notepad, with the same font, while writing this FAQ.
There's really no significant difference between the two when viewing this FAQ.

============================================================
: Keyword System
------------

A good friend of mine, Arctic (best known for his sweet FF7 FAQ), used the
Keyword System in Version 1.1 of his FAQ and has used it ever since.  Its sole
purpose is to allow you (the user) to search for anything in this FAQ with the
greatest of ease.

Utilizing the Find function (Ctrl+F) that can be used in both Notepad and
Wordpad, the keyword system is used at the start of each chapter and
subsection.  When reading the Table of Contents, you'll see the following by
a certain section:

[Keyword]

Press Ctrl+F and type in the following:

^[Keyword]

And you'll immediately be brought to the corresponding section after you press
Enter.  Make sure you don't drop the ^ or you'll end up back in the Table of
Contents.

============================================================
: TABLE OF CONTENTS
------------

Note: Some stages have no items at all.  They will be denoted by a (0 items)
reference and they'll also have no Keyword.

Note: There are multiple Life Bottles listed. However, you can only recieve it
once. The second and third Life Bottles you obtain will be Life Tanks instead.
Same goes for the extra Weapon Bottle.

============================================================
: Noah's Park                                      ^[NOAH] :
------------                                    ------------

In order to get ANY of these metals, you have to come back a second time with
two characters. Capcom made it so you don't have any of the characters you need
at the time you can get the Metal when you first come through.

Note: To regain access to Noah's Park, you must defeat 1 Maverick.

------------
: Weapon Bottle full    ^[NOA1]
------------

Required: X w/ Foot Parts I
         Zero

Item: When you reach the first waterfall, jump up with X or double jump with
Zero. You'll be able to see the Metal on a ledge.

-- User Strategy -------------------------------------------------------------
| You can obtain the metal in the first run with Axl. If you stand left from |
| the waterfall at the top of the mountain, jump and hover rightward         |
| crossing the waterfall. When Axl stops hovering, rapidly keep pressing the |
| normal attack button, it will make you hover further and you reach the     |
| Metal.                                                                     |
|                                                                            |
| User - Doc-Zock                                                            |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But you can obtain the metal in the first run with Axl.
If you stand left from the waterfall at the top of the mountain,
jump and hover rightward crossing the waterfall. When Axl stops hovering,
rapidly keep pressing the normal attack button, it will make you hover further
and you reach the metal.

Item Obtained: Weapon Bottle full - A bottle that restores a great deal of
   Weapon Energy.

------------
: Shock Absorber (A)    ^[NOA2]
------------

Required: X w/ Head Parts I

Item: After beating down the first set of enemies (you're trapped in a room and
can't get out until you beat them), you'll see a set of rocks and the Metal
above that. Go to the discolored rocks on the right side and jump into them
   to get the Metal.

Item Obtained: Shock Absorber (A) - You will no longer be knocked backwards
   when hit.

------------
: Buster Parts I    ^[NOA2]
------------

Required: X

Item: Near the end of the level, you'll come across a box and a door that you
cannot access the first time through.  Come back again with X and you'll
be able to pick up the Buster Parts I.

Item Obtained: Buster Parts I

============================================================
: Troia Base - Optic Sunflower                     ^[TROA] :
------------                                    ------------

Troia Base is the biggest pain in the ass you'll encounter in the game. Trust
me; you're put through a series of training sessions that see how well and how
fast you are able to kill enemies.

Depending on how well you do in each trial, you'll get a ranking that determines
the difficulty of the next test. There are sets of three dots; I'll refer to
the top on as "S Rank", the middle one as "B Rank" and the lower one as "D
Rank".

------------
: Weapon Converter (Z)    ^[TRO1]
------------

Required: Any Character

Item: Between the sixth and seventh tests, you'll encounter a hallway that
   looks something like this:

      _______________
      |             End
      |      --------|
     |               |
     |              X| <- Metal can be found here
    |            ----|
    |
Start      Pit

To get this metal, you'll have to dash right after sliding down the top ledge.
To get back on track, just jump left.

Item Obtained: Weapon Converter (Z) - Any damage you incur will deplete Weapon
   Energy instead of Life Energy.

------------
: Buster Parts H    ^[TRO2]
------------

Required: X w/ Squeeze Bomb (won from Gravity Antonion)

Item: Between the fourth and fifth tests, you'll wall-jump a tall ledge to get
to the next door. If you jump off the wall and dash to the left, you'll
encounter a wall that can be broken only with the Squeeze Bomb. Use it to
   claim the Buster Parts H.

Item Obtained: Buster Parts H

------------
: Life Bottle Full    ^[TRO3]
------------

Required: Any

Item: Get 5-7 S ranks and you'll recieve a Metal at the end of the level, as
   well as some regular metals.

Item Obtained: Life Bottle full - A bottle that restores a great deal of Life
   Energy.

------------
: Metal Generator    ^[TRO4]
------------

Required: Any

Item: Get 8 S ranks and you'll recieve a Metal at the end of the level, as
well as some regular metals. If you get 8 S Ranks on your first try, you
will have to go back and get a lower score on one of the tests.

Item Obtained: Metal Generator - Generate Metals simply through your normal
movement! This Chip does it automatically.

============================================================
: Primrose - Gravity Antonion                      ^[PRIM] :
------------                                    ------------

Primrose is a tough area with all those damn switches. Using a Prickle Barrier
is highly recommended. In my team, I used X and Zero; X for the parts, Zero for
his superior agility, even though he's probably the hardest to use.

------------
: K Knuckle (Z)    ^[PRI1]
------------

Required: X w/ Buster Parts H/I w/ Crystal Wall (won from Earthrock Trilobyte)
         AND Zero

Item: Yes, you require all of the above characters, weapons and parts to make
this work. In the second sub-area with no switches, you'll jump up a large
set of stairs. Instead of heading right and up, go straight up from the
entrance. Use Zero to double-jump onto the block by the wall, and then use
a charged Crystal Wall to reveal your Metal.

NOTE: It is possible to use Axl instead of Zero. If you go up the stairs, jump
off the second stair to the top and hover left, it IS possible to make the
jump with Axl, it's just tougher than crap. (thanks to somestrangeguy for
   informing me about this)

Item Obtained: K Knuckle (weapon for Zero)

------------
: Head Parts I    ^[PRI2]
------------

Required: X AND (one of the following)
         Axl (for easier use)
Zero (if you're confident about your controller abilities)

Item: In the second area with switches, you'll find an enemy that can stand on
spikes; if you're using Axl, copy it; if you're Zero, don't worry about it.
After passing the spiked block area, you'll enter a seemingly easy room,
since the exit is straight to your right. However, there's another exit to
this room. Climb the wall to your left and you'll see a tunnel of spikes.
If you used Axl, you can easily rotate the room upside down and walk on the
   spikes.

If you used Zero, you'll have to whip out your fanciest footwork to get
the Parts here.  You must rotate the room so you can drop down the tunnel
and dash into the room to the left. If you fall down all the way, don't
worry, there are no spikes at the bottom of the room. Also, MAKE SURE that
one of the blocks doesn't crush you on the way down, use the switch right
above the entrance to rotate the room the third time, then dash out of the
way to avoid being crushed. Then carefully drop down and dash to the left
when you see the opening. It's much trickier with Zero, but it's hardly
   impossible.

-- User Strategy -------------------------------------------------------------
| You can use any character. You just have to the switches a total of 10     |
| times. Jump down the tunnel, careful not to touch the spikes, and you’ll   |
| land on three blocks that fell when you rotated the room. Then on your way |
| out, hit the red switch by the warp and jump back down the tunnel.         |
|                                                                            |
| User - Sol & Wendego                                                       |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Item Obtained: Head Parts I

------------
: B Fan    ^[PRI3]
------------

Required: Axl (for easier use)
Zero (if you're confident about your controller abilities)
         Optional: Prickle Barrier

Item: In the second area with switches, you'll find an enemy that can stand on
spikes; if you're using Axl, copy it; if you're Zero, don't worry about it.
After the previous Part, you'll encounter two rooms that have spikes all
around and red buttons on moving boxes. In the second room like this, there
is a Metal right below the entrance. If you had Axl copy the enemy at the
beginning of the stage, just transform and drop down to get it.

As Zero, you have two choices: drop down with the Prickle Barrier and grab
it quickly, or switch the room around and manuver to get it. Honestly, if
you have the Prickle Barrier, use it; it's much easier, even if you do die
after obtaining the Metal. If you'd rather keep your barrier, or you're out
of Retry Chips, you'll have to turn the room upside down and get it that
way. Keep your orientation straight and have at it.

Item Obtained: B Fan (weapon for Zero)

============================================================
: Pitch Black - Dark Mantis                        ^[PTBL] :
------------                                    ------------

As much as you may love the X/Zero team, you have to leave Zero behind for most
of these Metals. No matter what your team is, AXL IS REQUIRED FOR THREE OF THE
FOUR ITEMS IN THIS STAGE. X is required for his armor part. Therefore, I just
ditch Zero in this level altogether and go with X and Axl.

------------
: Life Bottle full    ^[PTB1]
------------

Required: X w/ Buster Parts H/I w/ Crystal Wall (won from Earthrock Trilobyte)
AND Axl w/ Plasma Gun (won from Gigabolt Man-O-War)

Item: You're supposed to use stealth in this stage. Screw that. After the first
enemy checkpoint (where you have to shoot tons of small enemies), you'll be
in an area with search lights. Get hit by one. Seriously. After the guards
come out, have Axl kill one with his Copy Shot so he can get the guard's
DNA. At the end of this hallway, you're supposed to drop down. Instead,
take out the small spotlight, grab the Life Capsule and head up the wall.
You'll go into the wall and find a sleeping guard. Transform with Axl, walk
up to it and salute using the Triangle button. The guard will open the door
for you, so feel free to kill it after it opens the door. :) Inside, you'll
find a generator that you need to activate with the Plasma Gun (as Axl) or
the Thunder Dancer (as X). Before you leave the room, use a charged Crystal
Wall on the triangle on the floor to reveal the Metal you came in here to
   retrieve.

Item Obtained: Life Bottle full - A bottle that restores a great deal of Life
   Energy.

------------
: Shield Armor (A)    ^[PTB2]
------------

Required: Any AND Generator activated (see [PTB1])

Item: After starting the generator, go back but DO NOT drop down quite yet.
Instead, go back the way you came, and you'll see some new platforms that
dropped once you activated the generator. Jump up and you'll see a shiny
   new Metal.

Item Obtained: Shield Armor (A) - This increases your defensive power and
reduces the amount of damage sustained.

------------
: D Glaive (Z)    ^[PTB3]
------------

Required: X w/ Foot Parts I AND Generator activated (see [PTB1])
Zero AND Generator activated (see [PTB1])

Item: After starting the generator, drop down the area and continue on. At the
end of the area, you'll see another door, but don't enter it yet. Jump up
with X and you'll see a platform that eventually leads up to the new Metal.
You cannot use the wall to Wall Jump, as you'll drop down and enter the
doorway instead. You can use Zero to get up there as well, but you won't be
able to get X's armor Parts in the same run.

Item Obtained: D Glaive (weapon for Zero)

------------
: Body Parts H    ^[PTB4]
------------

Required: X

Item: After the small hallway where you use the enemy as a lighting source, you
will encounter a shaft that goes higher than normal (Palette will tell you
this if she is your Navigator). Jump up and to the right to pay Dr. Light a
   visit.

Item Obtained: Body Parts H

============================================================
: Booster Forest - Bamboo Pandamonium              ^[BOFO] :
------------                                    ------------

I had the hardest time in Booster Forest. The Metals are hard to get (damn near
impossible without an explanation on how to do it), and the Ride Armor is one
of the trickiest things to handle, mostly because it's slow and bulky.

------------
: Foot Parts I    ^[BOF1]
------------

Required: X w/ Ride Armor

Item: After the Ride Armor enemy checkpoint, you'll be able to find a new armor
Part right above where you enter the next area. Unfortunately, it's blocked
by spikes. To get there, put your Ride Armor on the elevator (watch out for
the Ride Armor enemy at the top of the elevator) and send it up. At the
top, jump into your Ride Armor and dash jump to the left as far as you can.
Jump out of the Armor and land on the platform where you'll find a capsule
   waiting for you.

Item Obtained: Foot Parts I

------------
: Weapon Converter (X)    ^[BOF2]
------------

Required: Axl

Item: Soon after you obtain the Ride Armor, you'll go up two conveyor belts and
then go around a U shaped area. At the end, you'll see a light blue enemy
that can roll into a ball. Get out of the Ride Armor and Copy Shot it.
After the Ride Armor enemy checkpoint, you'll find two paths that you can
follow. As Axl, drop to the bottom and follow the path underneath by
rolling, where you'll find yourself a Metal.

Item Obtained: Weapon Converter (X) - Any damage you incur will deplete Weapon
   Energy instead of Life Energy.

------------
: Double Barrier (A)    ^[BOF3]
------------

NOTE: Losing the Ride Armor is NOT an option. It'll screw you over for the
entire level. Also, you don't want to allow the Ride Armor to drop from
the upper path, as that too screws you over.

Required: X w/ Buster Parts H/I w/ Crystal Wall (won from Earthrock Trilobyte)
         Ride Armor

Item: After the checkpoint, you'll reach an upper path (accessable only with
the Ride Armor) and a lower path. Taking the upper path, you'll have to let
the Ride Armor pass on the spikes while you take the conveyor belt and meet
up with it later. Jump quick, because the conveyor after the spikes wants
to send the Ride Armor off the edge. Anyways, jump (while inside the Armor)
and land on the conveyor-free ledge. Get out of the Armor and head right,
striking the button which will lower the platform. Bring the Armor onto the
platform and send the ledge up. At the top, you'll have to blow up two
boxes. After doing so, use a charged Crystal Wall behind the blocks
   location to reveal a Metal.

Item Obtained: Double Barrier (A) - This will increase the length of
   invincibility period following a hit.

------------
: Shield Armor (Z)    ^[BOF4]
------------

NOTE: Losing the Ride Armor is NOT an option. It'll screw you over for the
entire level. Also, you don't want to allow the Ride Armor to drop from
the upper path, as that too screws you over.

Required: Any w/ Prickle Barrier

Item: After taking the upper path, following the previous few Metal paths, you
will encounter another Ride Armor enemy checkpoint. Watch out for the box
explosions right before it. After completing the checkpoint, keep bringing
the Armor along until you reach another set of spikes and a path above it.
Let the Armor go on the spikes, but instead of taking the upper path,
follow the Armor. Sit on the Armor as it follows the secondary path and you
will be able to get the Metal.

If you don't have a Prickle Barrier, you can get hit by the enemy above the
elevator, drop down and quickly dash to the right. However, with this
method, you will probably need the Double Barrier so you aren't sitting on
top of the spikes when you stop flashing.

Oh, and FYI, you CAN take the Ride Armor into the boss battle. Just make
sure it you don't lose it before then. ^_^

-- User Strategy -------------------------------------------------------------
| When you reach the spiked conveyor belt, let the ride armor go on it and   |
| you follow it up.  When it gets up to the drop point (where it comes back  |
| into the playable foreground) quickly get into and jump left, heading back |
| the way you came. When you drop down the shaft, you will break through the |
| floor, and simply ride the armor all the way back to the drop point, where |
| you can get the Metal. It's a good idea to run ahead and clear all enemies |
| in your path before dropping off the armor into the conveyor though. Also, |
| this can be done with any character at all.                                |
|                                                                            |
| User - Ice Demon & Legolus01 & Xaneth                                      |
------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Item Obtained: Shield Armor (Z) - This increases defensive power and reduces
   the amount of damage sustained.

============================================================
: Metal Valley - Earthrock Trilobite               ^[MEVA] :
------------                                    ------------

As odd as it may seem, you require the Crystal Wall, which is won from this
boss, to get a few of the Metals in this stage. You'd think Capcom would know
better. Anyways, you'll require at least two trips to obtain all four items.

------------
: Life Bottle full    ^[MEV1]
------------

Required: Any

Item: When the giant Mechaniloid is chasing you, you'll jump up a giant bone
structure. After climbing to the top, you'll see a line of metals and the
Metal at the end of them. Use any of the three characters to nab your
   prize.

Item Obtained: Life Bottle full - A bottle that restores a great deal of Life
   Energy.

------------
: Body Parts I    ^[MEV2]
------------

Required: X w/ Melt Cleaver (won from Burn Rooster)

Item: You might see a stack of barrels with a capsule behind it. Unfortunately,
it's blocked by rocks. So come back after you smack the giant Mechaniloid
in the head and use the Melt Cleaver to burninate the barrels and visit Dr.
   Light.

Item Obtained: Body Parts I

------------
: Double Barrier (Z)    ^[MEV3]
------------

Required: Axl

Item: After beating down the giant Mechaniloid for the first time, go back and
use Axl's hover ability to grab hold of a steel beam. Continue to follow
the beams going left, hovering along the way, to reach a new Metal. If you
are lost, the ledge you should jump from is right above the barrels that
lead to X's Body Parts I.

Item Obtained: Double Barrier (Z) - This will increase the length of
   invincibility period following a hit.

------------
: Metal Discount    ^[MEV4]
------------

Required: X w/ Buster Parts H/I w/ Crystal Wall (won from Earthrock Trilobyte)

Item: After smacking the giant Mechaniloid in the head with the crane, chase it
back to the start. However, when the enemy smashes the bride that houses
two yellow metals, drop down and use the charged Crystal Wall to draw out
   the Metal.

Item Obtained: Metal Discount - This chip gives you discounts on the amounts of
Metals needed to develop new Chips.

============================================================
: Central White - Avalanche Yeti                   ^[CEWH] :
------------                                    ------------

Central White is mostly a Speeder-based level. Even though there are only two
items, you are forced to come back twice. Zero is required in the team for both
parts, as his double-jump ability is required to get each of the parts.

------------
: Head Parts H    ^[CEW1]
------------

Required: X w/ Shining Ray (won from Optic Sunflower) AND Zero

Item: Before going into the Boss door, head back a little bit and scale the
wall. You'll have to double jump with Zero to get to the top. At the top,
use the Shining Ray (normal) to melt the ice on the right and claim the
   Parts.

Item Obtained: Head Parts H

------------
: Shock Absorber (Z)    ^[CEW2]
------------

Required: Axl AND Zero

Item: Before going into the Boss door, head back a little bit and scale the
wall. You'll have to double jump with Zero to get to the top. At the top,
use Axl to hover to the left and claim a new Rare Metal.

NOTE: I have been informed that you don't require Axl to get this Metal. All
you require is Zero and his Raikousen attack (won from Gigabolt Man-O-War).
If you jump, dash and then press Triangle (default button) while dashing,
Zero will dash the rest of the way and allow you to claim the Metal without
the use of Axl. (Special thanks to Vardamir Nólimon and OverdriveDragun for
   pointing this out!)

Item Obtained: Shock Absorber (Z) - You will no longer be knocked backwards
   when hit.

============================================================
: Inferno - Burn Rooster                           ^[INFR] :
------------                                    ------------

Inferno is moderately easy. The hardest part is not dying in the beginning of
the level. You'll have to come back a second time, as the Metals require Zero
and Axl (one metal for each character) and X's armor Parts require him to be in
the team. Besides, the T Breaker (required to get a Metal) can only be found in
this stage anyways.

------------
: Double Barrier (X)    ^[INF1]
------------

Required: Zero w/ T Breaker w/ Dairettsui (won from Gravity Antonion)

Item: After the first enemy checkpoint, you'll be in a spike-filled area which
will put your jumping skills to the ultimate test. If you have Palette as
your Navigator, she'll eventually tell you that there's a weak spot in the
floor somewhere nearby. Drop down and equip the T Breaker and press
Triangle (default) to activate the Dairettsui. Break open the box and claim
