<Intro>
This FAQ is based on the demo of the Japanese Version of Rockman X8. This demo
is contained in Rockman X: Command Mission. Once you unlocked the demo within
Rockman X: Command Mission, you can select the forth option from the main menu
which then get you the demo of Rockman X8.

<Actual Demo>
At the Rockman X8 main menu, press 'Start' to begin the demo. After that, you
get to a screen that show you the controls.
L1 and L2 - Player Change and Rescue Change
R1 and R2 - Double Attack
D-Pad and Left Stick - Move Character
Select - NONE
Start - Begin
Right Stick - NONE
Triangle - NONE
Circle - Dash
X - Jump
Square - Normal Attack
Once you are done looking at this screen, press 'Circle' to go on. You will get
into the demo quickly, where X and Axl transported in. After the dialogue, Axl
will transfer out. Remember, you can change from X to Axl with L1/L2 and the
other way around. You are in a forest area and the game play surely is in 2D
while the camera follows you around. As shown above, Square is Normal attack.
And Rockman X can charge up if you hold it. For Axl, that will be continuous
firing his handgun. While Rockman X can only shoot to left or right, Axl can
shoot in all directions, yes, all 8 directions. Axl can hover in the air like
in X7, and the highness of the jump depends on how you press X/Jump. Circle is
just dash, on ground or air. As for the D-Pad, you obviously can't do anything
with 'Up', but you can't get anything with 'Down' as well. So, you can't duck
in this demo, maybe in the full/real game as well. Once you got used to the
control, continue to the right. Fight some bees and get the little crystal they
drop. Hover cross the rive with Axl, but make sure you take care of the enemy
on the other side first. These guys can shoot out two missles, so make sure you
high jump to dodge them. Continue to the right and fight more bees, then gather
more little crystals. A boss will show up and it's fight time. This guy is easy
once you hover Axl in the air and attack his head. In doing so, you can also
dodge his bullets and his claw. After the battle, collect the little crystals
it left behind. Continue to the right and Rockman X will transport in. After
the dialogue, Rockman X will left and you are down to Axl only. Head to the
right and go down the cliff, make sure you shoot the birds in the air as well.
You can hover in air to cross and gather the crystals as well. If you drop
down, you can fight some crabs. But anyway, continue to right and to get to
the crabs on the floor, shoot SE/SW with Axl. Go on to the right, another guy
with missles and more bees. Continue to the right and some electric bombs will
drop down from the waterfall, make sure you dodge them. Continue to the right
and you can another missle guy. Continue and more enemies, destroy them and
go up the cliff. Enter the door and bats will drop down from above. Just stick
to the left corner, shoot NE mostly. Shoot east only need to. After that, enter
the door. Continue to the right and Zero will show up. With Zero in the party,
he can also dash, jump. His attack is short range since he attacks with his
Z-Saber. If you press R1/R2 now, it seems to odd, probably you can trigger the
Double Attack now, under some condition. Zero's normal attack got 3 slashes if
you press Square 3 times quickly. If you jump up a bit, you can see some little
crystals. Go go up and collect them. Once you go right and drop down, that boss
from before will show up. Crabs will come down from the waterfall, and the boss
will show his head out once in a while. So attack the crabs and attack the boss
when he shows up. Continue this, and he will left out his claw and go across
the screen back and forth, then drop down. Make sure you dodge that. As for the
Double Attack, make sure you have enemy around, otherwise, nothing will trigger
when you press R1/R2. Remember, if you don't want to go through all these
trouble with this boss, simply jump near him when his head is out, press R1 or
R2 to trigger Double Attack. That will wipe him out. Continue to the right and
Zero will transport in. Axl will left and you are down with Zero. Continue to
the right and fight some enemies. Go along the path and it seems you have to
go up. Normally, you can't reach with one jump. But, Zero can double jump. At
the top, there is a big bee here, fight it if you want. Otherwise, enter the
door and slash out all these bees. Enter the door and Rockman X will transport
int. You again have two characters which means you can use Double Attack again.
Destroy the crates to get lots of crystals. Continue to the right and fight
some flying enemies. Destroy them with Rockman X charging. Go down and continue
to the right. Slash the switch at the end, and quickly jump up at the opening.
Continue to the right and destroy one last enemy, and go up at the opening.
Hit the switch to open a hatch below. Go down and gather that life, then enter
the door. Continue along the path and Zero will transport in. After the
dialogue, continue to the right. That boss will show up again, and Double
Attack will only take away half of its life. But do so, before one of you get
killed. To win this battle, have Zero stay at the left corner and keep slashing
even though the boss has shields. Eventually, his life will go down. So just
keep slashing. After the battle, that also marks the end of the demo. If you
like the what's in the demo, do buy the full game when it comes out.
