Magic Pengel Is a game for PS2 that came out in Japan on March 20th, 2002, and
in America on June 24/6, 2003 rated at "E".... for everyone XD. It doesnt have
pre-made monsters, but you draw them yourself. You do NOT need to be able to
draw WHATSOEVER to play and enjoy the game. Really, you are limited in
creativity. You HAVE to draw big blobs of nothing near the end. But basically
the story is about a girl and her brother whose dad disapears and kingdom tries
to take their land from them. To make the money, you are entered in a doodle
tournament. Upon doing this, they encounter a more deeper story and memorable
characters.
In Japan this game is called Galacta Meisaku Gekijou: Rakugaki Oukouku or
"Rakugaki Kingdom" which translates to "Kingdom Of Scribbling". It was
developed by Garakuta-Studio / Taito and is published by Agetec. Also the
people who got Magic Pengel over here WERE initially going to name it "Color
Quest". Good thing they didn't!
You can find this game anywhere for under 10$ so give it a shot!
About 300KB on your memory card is needed! More if you want to create and save
even more doodles.
Also -- In case you were wondering, Pengel is pronounced "Pen-Jell" as in
"JELLO". Not "Pengle" as in "Bangle"

| II. How To Draw |

This section is entirely optional to read. HOWEVER, if you have never played
Magic Pengel, you SHOULD read it. It will tell you tips and tricks to getting
the most out of this game and have the easiest time drawing doodles.
First of all.. to be able to have complete freedom drawing, you must get to a
certain point In the game. You cant start off drawing whatever you like.
(Unless you use gameshark)
(Triangle) at Zoes house brings up your doodle book where you can draw doodles.
You have a spot for 6 doodles at a time.
**NOTE** DO --------NOT-------- EVER delete any of your doodles. You will loose
all of your EXP for that doodle. EXP increases all of your stats.
**END NOTE**
When you go to draw your doodle, you wont have many options. Before you say
THIS SUCKS and turn it off, just wait. You get many options as you go on. On
the main drawing screen you have 6 menus. Ill list what you have at startup.

Drawing Line:
There is a line around the screen that is the color of whatever color you have
selected. This is the drawing line. Once this line gets down to by your color
limitation, you cant add any more to this doodle for now. You can make your
drawing line decrease slower by winning more matches at the main arena.
Limitations:
Color Limitations:
The number in the lower right tells you how much of that color gem that you
have left. Once you get close to 0, you cant use any more of that color. You
can get more color by fighting people in the Main and Seaside Arenas.
If you are just about out of drawing ability press x to finish your shape
without using any more drawingness! (Usually) Also drawing less curvy sort of
strait lines doesnt take away from this either as much I think.
Also if you draw a strait line towards the connection point, sometimes it
doesnt take any or little color away.
Body Parts:
You can only have 64 actual body parts (designs don't count) on your doodle at
one time.
Of those 64, you can only have the following:
** 6 arms **
** 1 body **
** 1 head **
** 6 legs **
** 2 weapons **
** 8 wings **

So that leaves 40 available for other things.
Doodle Specs:
Press select while drawing to see the specs on your doodle. Like how many lines
you got in your head and arms and stuff.
You can draw strait lines by starting a curve and then letting go of X& then
moving your pointer to where you want it to move. It takes some practice
though. Letting go of (X) usually completes the shape.

When you are battling, and your opponent has a choice between Attack, Block,
and Magic, ALWAYS USE CHARGE IF YOU CAN!!!!!
That way, the next turn, you WILL know what to use to your advantage. Believe
me, I went through the whole game the first time not using charge at all and it
was HARD!
The second time, I used this, and it was SO much less stressfull!!

Then the doodle king wished on a spirit to fix this, and it was granted.
Now only pure people could make doodles.
Now the king sought to get more colors.
People turned against eachother and now the world was miserable.
Wake Up! is the first thing you hear. Then you get to name your character.

I am going to draw a malformed green sausage.
Zoe and Taro will yawn and tell you to hurry up if you don't draw something.
Then I drew a horn on it at the end.
If you notice& there is a line around the screen.. when you draw, the line
shrinks.. when the line gets low, your controller will vibrate. If it gets all
the way down, you cant draw anymore on this doodle.
They tell you to pick finish when you are done.
If you go to pose, you can see what your drawing will look like doing various
things.
Now you gotta give it a name.
Ill name him&.PEMdAs. Math terms. Hehe
They proceed in telling you and your doodle have funny names and then exit.
They ask if you are a part of the kingdom. Then ask you to follow them to the
marketplace.
You get there and they want you to enter a tourament.
Now dont be afraid to explore. The Magic Pengel world is incredibly small. Its
like 5 loading screens long. Thank GOD because loading times are long :O!
The game is kind of like.. a first person thing.. But you easily know where
youre at. The Pengel will be in front of you.
If you dispise first person games (like me) don't put this game down! Its
surprisingly decent!
Just pretend the pengel IS your character!
If you talk to people in this game, usually the only thing they will do is sell
you things or they want to duel.

to enter.
Doodle Basics:
Both opponents select their doodles. (Up to 3)
and then the battle begins. To claim victory, reduce the HP of all your
opponents doodles to 0.
During each turn, both people selct the skill their doodle will use next. The
outcome of the turn depends on the skill each selects.
Its sort of like paper-rock-sissors. Ill draw a little map explaining.

Select a skill by pressing the button next to it.

after a skill has been used, it requires one turn to refresh.
The max number of skills available per turn is 3.
Charge cant be used on the first turn.
Ex: if you use magic, the next turn you can only use attack, charge, or block

When doodles select the same skills, they both take damage.
The doodle with the higher agility gets to go first.
Press L2
-L2: Charge
Now lets see.. the next turn your opponent can only use attack, charge, and
block.
So now&&.. you have to choose attack.. because if HE attacks, you tie but you
still do damage.
If he chooses block, youll beat him.
If he chooses charge, he wont hit you.
You cant loose!
Don't feel intimidated by this, I make it sound a LOT more complicated than it
realy is. lol

When you win, you get color gems. You need these to draw doodles.
Now you are on your own for a battle!
Remember what you just learned! Try to predict what your opponent will use and
use whats strong against them!
Movie: a guy (Marshal) with a gun comes out and shoots at blue color gems.
Now that that battle is over, your drawing capabilities have increased!

If you turn around you might be surprised, the steps are blocked off! But no!
those are different steps. Keep going forward and to the right. Your steps are
hidden behind those boxes. Dont worry about the steps that are blocked off. You
cant get there.
Taro and Zoe are by the fence. If you go to the little Shed, you can save!
Talk to Zoe. She notices you don't have a doodle book and she lets you barrow
hers. (why would she have a doodle book if she doesnt even have a pengel?)
If you select yes, you go to your doodle book where you can draw!
Also a good thing to look at is the encyclopedia which is in the last menu,
with finish. I didn't even touch it until making this walkthrough& and I wish I
had earlier. It has some VERY good information in it.
Like press select to see what you have done to tell what your limitations are.
Also when drawing, if you want to draw from a different angle& press (X) once
where you want it to connect then move the camera and draw from there. I didn't
learn this till I played graffiti kingdom X_X.
Also what color you make things determins the doodle type.
I drew another green sausage with blue horn legs and red arms.

Talk to the guard again.

They guard realizes you don't have a doodle book.. so he gives you one. You can
give Zoes back and now you can press triangle at Zoes house to open it.
Sir Kiba has another message too.
You can now go back to your house BUT theres a sign!
It says& Kingdom law article 9.. Criminals can at any time be deprived of their
rights and property.
Zoe trys to pull it out and saws it in half. Then she nails it on the house to
fix it.
Zoe notices you are sad, and talks to you about how you are friends.
If you press Triangle you can draw some more. You can add even more to your
doodle now. Or if you make a new one, you can draw more.
REMEMBER though.. do NOT EVER delete your doodle. It will loose all of its EXP.
You can however, redraw him like new and even change his name.
Also another tip& If you are low on drawing ability.. press x to finish your
shape without using any more drawingness! Also drawing less curvy sort of
strait lines doesnt take away from this either as much I think..

Then Mono falls out of the house.
They find out mono is a doodle.
Mono says he heard a farmiliar voice.
Zoe says granny might be able to help Mono.
Go to granny. You need doodle medicine.
It requires 3000 blue gems.
Now.. either take apart your doodles so that you have 3000 blue gems OR go to
the seaside arena and battle till you get them.
When you get it, talk to granny. You get it. Then go back to Zoes house.
They give it to mono.
He says thanks for helping him.
Zoe asks why he snuck in the castle.
He says hes a doodle created by their dad.
The first thing he saw was a marketplace with an ocean. He knew this place
before even being there. The castle was calling him. The sight from the castle
matches his first memory.
He says he was created in that castle.
What he rememberes most clearly is the woods in the east. Galileo raised him
there.
He learned to speak and draw doodles. He questioned death though.
Time passes and galileo got sick. He told mono that he must decide about his
future because he had to leave soon.
Mono pleaded Galileo to not leave him.
Galieleo said tears are heart speaking. Because Mono cried, he finally found
his heart.
Galileo often told of a beautiful place. Galileo told Mono about Zoe and Taro.
So Mono went to the kingdom. To see it for himself.

When you go back to Zoes house, you wont make it there. You see a marshal has
put up a wanted sign for mono for 1 million G. He hit Zoe + you and you go
rollin the steps. The towns people are pissed.
Then you like& black out. When you wake up, The towns people are all around
Zoe. Aparently they didn't care if you died or not. Lol!
But anyway, they gave Zoe some medicine, and it didn't work. Mono comes and he
says he will protect Zoe. So he uses his power to create a color gem that can
be used to make medicine.
This time the color was like.. sucked out of his hands.
Mono tells you to watch over Taro and Zoe.
Taro asks mono if he will be ok.
Then Zoe gets better and Taro is happy.
Mono asks Taro for a favor. He is ashamed that he used his powers again so he
has to leave. Mono wants Taro to tell Zoe that hes sorry.
Then mono leaves.
Taro tells Zoe that mono went to the castle. He wanted to (I cant read my
writing.. see the land?? I think)
Zoe was like WHY? Grrr.. WHY? WHY? THEY WILL CATCH HIM!!!
So then Denka admits that mono isnt that bad and that you cant get in the

Zoe is laughing and running. Taro has a bunch of stuff carrying it. Zoe tells
him to leave some. Taro says hesok .. hell catch up. Zoe laughs at him.
Then the market place Is shown.
The fish man helps zoe put her pack on
the people tell zoe to comeback and visit.
Denka tells taro to take care of zoe and tells you to write.
Taro starts crying.
Zoe tells taro to not be sad. Zoe hugs you and says she's glad you were friends.
Zoe and taro get on a boat.
Taro almost misses the boat. But he jumps and makes it.
Zoe yells bye to everyone.
Then later taro looks sad.
Zoe tells taro to not be sad. He says theey will be back someday.

+Zul the glasses guy owns a dog which looks miraculously like Pastel from
Graffiti Kingdom. In this game though, the dog is referred to as a he.
+Magic Pengel did have a soundtrack. It was released as "Garakuta Masterpiece
Theater Rakugaki Oukoku" or "Garakuta Meisaku Gekijou" or even "Garakuta
Famous Creator Theater: Kingdom of Doodling" only in Japanese and Latin on May
9, 2002. The artist is the Agetec band Zuntata. Zuntata also did Raystorm Neu
Tanz Mix. It's 2 CDs long.
