Introduction
------------
For those of you familiar with the Gundam VS series, this is something that's
quite different. From what I heard from a friend who played this, the control
system is somewhat similar to Zone of the Enders but as I have not played that
game before, I cannot tell. As a Gundam 00 fan, I had to give this a try and I
was pleasantly surprised by some of the incredible details put in the attack
cutscenes, especially in the movie sequence which better demonstrates the tag
team work of Tieria and Setsuna against the Thrones.
Although it's not a terribly complicated game, I figured I would write this
up since there's no real FAQ available right now.
Controls
--------
-Circle: Activate 0 Mode in Single Player when meter charged.
Hold to manually charge meter in Versus mode.
-Triangle: Shield. If timed right, you can cause the enemy to recoil and open
up for an attack. Shields will be shattered if they block a Special
Charge attack.
-Cross: Boost
-Square: Shoot (Long Range), Melee (Close Range)
-L1: Hover up
-L2: Hover down
-R1: Target/cycle
-R2: Release target
-Right Analog: Manual cycle target
-Left Analog: Movement
-Hold Square and Cross together: Special Charge attack. Each mobile suit has
a close range and long range charge attack. Charging up does more damage and
if you hold this to the limit, it will release on its own. Doing a charge
attack depletes your boost gauge so you won't be able to boost or block until
the gauge is replenished.
As far as I know, R3 and L3 do nothing.
Battle Display
--------------
-Radar: Pretty self explanatory as it works similarly to radar in the Gundam
VS series.
-HP: The bottom left meter is your health gauge. When you take damage, the
orange part will get depleted.
-Boost Gauge: The green meter at the bottom right corner of the screen. Not
only does this gauge fuel your boost, but it also powers up your Shield/GN
Field. Holding Triangle will keep the shield active while draining the bar. As
mentioned earlier, this gauge gets depleted if the special charge attack is
used.
-Timer: Certain stages in Mission Mode will give you a time limit to complete
the objective before time runs out. In Versus Mode, you can set the timer to
a predetermined amount or put it on infinite time.
-Lock Ons: When you are locked on, your weapons will try and home in on the
enemy.
-Level Progression Circle: In the top right hand corner, you will see a circle
that keeps track of your progress if you're playing in Mission Mode or Meister
Mode.
-0 Gauge: In Mission/Meister mode, this fills up as you destroy cannon fodder
mobile suits. Once it's filled, you can press Circle to enter 0 Mode. In
Versus, you can hold Circle to manually charge the meter. When it's full, the
0 attack will instantly activate. However, your opponent can hit you to cause
some of the charge to vanish. Also, if you're not charging, the meter will
slowly deplete. If you have a flashing meter that's not completely full, you
can also activate your 0 attack if you press Circle at the precise point that
the meter depletion point hits the precise point at which the meter stops
flashing. The timing can be a pain to deal with.
0 Mode Attack Types
-------------------
There are four types of sequences that accompany the attack cutscenes (or
story cutscenes if you're in Mission Mode). You can get four grades on how
well you perform which could allow you to maximize defence chances against
enemy 0 attacks or maximize damage capability when performing your own 0
attacks. Each sequence will have different button displays and you must press
them on your Pad when prompted to do so.
-Timing Sequence 1: As the yellow indicator moves to the left, press the right
button as displayed just as the indicator hits the end.
-Timing Sequence 2: Stop the yellow indicator into the centre red zone by
pressing the button displayed before time runs out.
-Button Mashing Sequence: Rapidly press the button displayed as fast as you
can in the time limit.
-Button Sequence: Press the buttons in the correct order as fast as you can
as displayed. This is similar to performing Ougis for the Naruto series on PS2
so it's straight forward. Player 1 has to go from left to right while Player 2
goes from right to left.
When doing the 0 mode in single player, you see a series of green and red
arrows. Press the directional pad in the direction of a red arrow to destroy
an enemy and continue your chain. Pressing the directional pad in the
direction of a green arrow merely damages an enemy and keeps the chain alive
although it won't add to the chain count. The higher you go, the fewer arrows
that appear. Make sure you press in the right direction within a second or two
of the arrows appearing to keep your chain alive. Depending on how high you
finish, you will get different attack movie sequences. You are maxed out when
you do 100 chains and you will go into an automatic attack movie sequence. If
you get 'Perfect' status on each sequence, you will max out at 200 chains.
Gameplay Modes
--------------
Let's start with the opening menu...
Mission Mode - Basically a playthrough of the first season of Gundam 00. You
can choose from one of the four Gundam Meisters with each of them having 10
missions to complete. Completing all 40 missions will unlock all mobile suits
for Versus and Meister Mode as well as all of the main story cutscenes and the
bonus epilogue ending that serves as a transition to season 2.
When you pick a Meister, you can also select a partner Meister to help you out
in certain situations. If you have a strong friendship, then you can do a
counter 0 attack (Kizuna) when you defend against an enemy 0 attack. Also, you
can tack on an extra small 0 attack sequence if you don't have a perfect chain
from your 0 mode by tapping Circle.
Missions are pretty straight forward. You will fight through waves of enemy
cannon fodder mobile suits, have boss fights against other characters (Graham,
the Thrones and others all the way up to Corner) and use 0 mode button
sequences to progress story cutscenes.
Meister Mode - Has two sub-types. You can do a Time Attack (unlocked after a
Score Attack runthrough) and a Score Attack. Completing score attacks unlocks
more graphics and profiles. In this Mode, you can choose any mobile suit and
then go into battle.
There are 10 stages in all, with each having predetermined cannon fodder
enemies, mid-bosses and final bosses to defeat. Stage progression is as
follows:
As you defeat more enemy mobile suits, you level up. When you reach the mid
way point (Level 5 for Stage 1, Level 15 for Stage 2, etc.), a canon story
character will perform an 0 attack* on you before you get back to business.
* - Two exceptions in the case of Ali's Agrissa and Corner's Alvatore as they
don't have 0 attacks.
You can interrupt the 0 attack if you can find the enemy and shoot them
although it can be tough trying to get to them fast enough. Once you are at
the end point (Level 10 for Stage 1, Level 20 for Stage 2, etc.), you will
face off against the pre-determined boss for that stage and once you beat them
the stage is cleared.
If you go into 0 mode and complete a perfect 200 chain, you will go right to
the end boss.
Here's the breakdown of stages, complete with mid-bosses and end bosses:
Stage 1 (Level 1 to 10): AEU Cannon Fodder
Mid-boss: Patrick Colasour in AEU Enact
End boss: Patrick Colasour in AEU Enact

Versus Mode - Standard one on one duel with each player picking a mobile suit,
setting the timer and the battleground and then duking it out.
Gallery - Shows the movies, character graphics, mobile suit profiles and the
music that you have unlocked so far.
Tutorial - A run through of basic stuff although I never really checked out
this section as I already know how combat works in this game.
Option - Standard options such as memory card settings.
List of Mobile Units
--------------------
NOTE: Trans-Am cannot be used in PvP and is only available in the Mission Mode
only. Also, I have yet to confirm some of these Long and Close Range Special
Charge attacks so I will probably revise this section a bit later so bear with
me.
GN-001 Gundam Exia
Pilot: Setsuna F. Seiei
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Throws GN Daggers.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Series of slashes from GN Sword.
Rather than being an all-rounder like most Gundam protagonists, the Exia's
main strength is in close combat. But the range of the GN sword is pretty
good so you can get some great chains with this guy. A solid choice for a PvP
match with decent speed and armour.
GNR-001E GN Arms Type-E
Pilot: Setsuna F. Seiei
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Fires multiple shots at enemies.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: ?????
Can only be used during Setsuna's story mode.
GN-002 Gundam Dynames
Pilot: Lockon Stratos
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Charged GN Sniper Rifle shot.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Fires GN Missiles.
A bit of a slowpoke but he doesn't need to move as much since his main
specialty is sniping targets at long range.
GNR-001D GN Arms Type-D
Pilot: Lockon Stratos
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Fires multiple shots at enemies.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: ?????
Can only be used during Lockon's story mode.
GN-003 Gundam Kyrios
Pilot: Allelujah Haptism
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Multi shot barrage from GN submachine gun.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Changes to Flight Mode and then drills
itself into the enemy.
Great speed at the cost of weaker armour. More or less a hit and run unit.
Thumbs up to the Zeta Gundam homage with the Close Range attack resembling
Kamille's final charge on Scirocco.
GN-004 Gundam Nadleeh
Pilot: Tieria Erde
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Rotates while firing from a pair of 2-barrel
GN cannons.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Rotates while slashing the enemy with GN
beam saber.
Similar to Exia but with a better long range attack in my opinion.
GN-005 Gundam Virtue
Pilot: Tieria Erde
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Concentrated GN bazooka blast.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Fires multiple shots from GN shoulder
cannons.
Quite slow but solid armour. Probably one of my favourite units as you can
control the direction of the GN bazooka blast by holding left or right and
plow through CPU enemies easily.
GNW-001 Gundam Throne Eins
Pilot: Johann Trinity
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Fires from GN launcher.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Series of GN beam saber slashes.
Probably the weakest of the Thrones as this unit's mobility is not that great.
GN launcher shot can't be directed like the bazooka which is another strike.
GNW-002 Gundam Throne Zwei
Pilot: Michael Trinity
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Unleashes GN Fangs.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: GN Buster Sword assault.
A good unit for Meister Mode runthroughs. Very easy to rack up perfect 200
chains against the CPU grunts with this guy.
GNW-003 Gundam Throne Drei
Pilot: Nena Trinity
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Attacks enemy with a GN beam saber.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: GN Stealth Field.
Similar to Throne Zwei, she can easily rack up perfect 200 chains with the
right timing.
AEU-09 AEU Enact
Pilot: Patrick Colasour
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Fires rifle in all directions.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Attacks with Sonic Blade.
Not the greatest choice since his long range special charge is rather poor.
AEU-09Y812/A Ali Al-Saachez's AEU Enact Custom Agrissa Type
Pilot: Ali Al-Saachez
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Fires rifle shots that follow the enemy.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Series of slashes similar to Exia's attack.
Being the awesome merc that he is, this is probably one of the stronger non-GN
drive units in the game. Good melee game with great reach from his sword.
AEU-MA07013 Agrissa (CPU Only)
Pilot: Ali Al-Saachez
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Fires plasma shot which shocks enemy.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: ?????
This guy is annoying. The damn plasma shot can mess you up, leaving you open
for a close range assault with those legs.
MSJ-06II-C Tieren High Mobility Type
Pilot: Sergei Smirnov
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Machine gun barrage.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Uses carbon blade to slash enemy.
I don't play with this guy much so I can't say much right now.
MSJ-06II-SP Tieren Taozi
Pilot: Soma Peries
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Machine gun barrage.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Uses carbon blade to slash enemy.
I don't use this unit often as well.
SVMS-01X Union Flag Custom II (GN Flag)
Pilot: Graham Acre
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Multi slash barrage with GN beam saber.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: ?????
I'm glad that this guy at least got one long-range weapon even though it's
weak. It was how I managed to beat Mr. Bushido when I did Graham's Meister
playthrough with barely any HP left after defeating 00 Gundam.
SVMS-01O Over Flag
Pilot: Howard Mason
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Several shots from linear rifle.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Assault with plasma blade.
The only thing this unit has going for it is the good boost duration and its
speed. Other than that, it's pretty average.
GNX-603T GN-X
Pilot: Daryl Dodge
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Several shots from GN beam rifle.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: ?????
An okay unit but I would prefer to stick with a mobile suit with a real GN
drive. The Close Range Special Charge Attack has slipped my mind so I'll have
to update this entry later.
GNMS-XCVII Alvaaron
Pilot: Alejandro Corner
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Charged shot with beam rifles.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: ?????
The Close Range Special Charge Attack has slipped my mind so I'll have
to update this entry later. Good long range ability but poor mobility and
speed. His long range special charge is pretty solid though.
GNMA-XCVII Alvatore (CPU only)
Pilot: Alejandro Corner
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Sends GN Fangs towards you.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: ?????
Not as annoying as Agrissa but can be a pain to deal with depending on what
unit you're fighting as.
GN-0000 00 Gundam
Pilot: Setsuna F. Seiei
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Shots scattered from two GN rifles.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: Slashes with two GN swords.
A pretty awesome machine. Great long range attacks, great close range attacks
and solid armour to withstand a heavy beating. The only negative this thing
has is slower speed and boost compared to Exia but if not for that nerf, this
machine would be too much.
GNX-704T Ahead
Pilot: Graham Acre/Mr. Bushido (The One Man Army)
Long Range Special Charge Attack: Hacks and slashes with GN beam sword.
Close Range Special Charge Attack: ????? (Probably same as above)
An interesting machine with no long range combat abilities, good speed, good
mobility, armour and close range combat skills so basically, a high risk, high
reward mobile suit.
