INTRODUCTION
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Shino Ittou is the culmination of my experience in Kengo: Master of Bushido.
If you follow my fighting style as I lay it out, you will win battle after
battle and not be defeated.

To succeed at Shino Ittou, you must develop your Attack Speed and Strength,
but a high Insight is essential as well.

CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

TAKETSUNE NAKAYAMA
Nakayama has relatively high abilities in all respects. He is an excellent
choice for any beginning player, as he can learn from most schools easily.

SHOZAEMON HYUGA
Hyuga is my personal favorite. His high attack speed and powerful blows make
him well-suited for the way of Shino Ittou.

Most FAQ's recommend that Hyuga learns from one of the following schools:

Hirata Dojo: (Muja School)
Moriya Dojo: (Suigetsu School)
Tanbara Dojo: (Muishinjin School)
Udagawa Dojo: (Isshin School)
Tsubaki Dojo: (Kumomushin School)
Kadokura Dojo: (Fudo School)

Despite this belief, I chose the Ooishi School since it contains one of the
most difficult maneuvers that you will acquire; Heatwave. Additionally,
Miyamoto Musashi maintains the belief that a sword should be wielded
one-handed. I found this school an excellent choice. The Isshin school is
another excellent choice for it's Draw & Strike maneuver.

YASUTOMO YOSHIMURA
Yoshimura is gifted with very fast movement and combinations. He is
well-suited for the Shino Ittou style, and learns well from the following
schools:

Hirata Dojo:   (Muja School)
Kasukabe Dojo: (Kyoshin School)
Ooishi Dojo:   (Muni School)
Tanbara Dojo:  (Muishinjin School)

                                --===========--

THE HIRATA DOJO (Muja School)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Muja style emphasizes combined techniques and a variety of forms.
Their "Flying Swallow Slash" is a mediocre final attack, as it tends to miss
it's target if not executed from a short distance. This grants your opponent
an opportunity to strike you and ruin the attack if he moves quickly enough.

School Moto:
"A warrior must learn to persevere...to fight is my destiny, to win is my
fate!"

Juuro Hirata: Master of the Hirata Dojo
Kangoro Morobushi: Disciple of the Hirata Dojo
Liscensed Katana: Kanemitu

The following are the techniques of the Muja style:

Shadow Strike -> Blade of Fury -> Blade of Doom
Lunging Blade
Multi-Strike -> Assault
Blade of Fury -> 2-Handed Thrust
Modified Flying Swallow

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

THE MORIYA DOJO (Suigetsu School)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Suigetsu style strives to maintain balance between technique & power.
This style incorperates rotational swings that can deliver a great deal
of damage. The Suigetsu style is perfect for conservative fighters, though
a few of it's techniques are well-suited for Shino Ittou as well. The Final
Technique of the Suigetsu School is Wild Top, and is a very useful technique
to know.

School Moto:
"When I lift my sword... I exercise peace by force."

Genpo Moriya: Master of the Moriya Dojo
Toranosuke Matsui: Disciple of the Moriya Dojo
Liscensed Katana: Muramasa

These are the techniques of the Suigetsu style:

Direct Blow -> Solar Blade -> Shadow Blade
Tornado
Whirlwind -> Water and Clouds

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

THE KASUKABE DOJO (Kyoshin School)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Kyoshin School places emphasis on combination attacks. They have very
unconventional and even abstract techniques. Much like the Ichi Ryu Ni To
style of Miyamoto Musashi, it relies on one-handed attacks.

School Moto:
"The sword is my tool, but not my strength. My strength comes from these
hands which wield it, my power comes from the thoughts that control it!"

Ichiun Kasukabe: Master of the Kasukabe Dojo
Enshiro Tanabe: Disciple of the Kasukabe Dojo
Liscensed Katana: Kunihiro

These are the techniques of the Kyoshin style:

Scarlet Leaves -> Scarlet Leaves -> Scarlet Leaves

Solar Flamingo -> Crimson Death
Dark Payback -> Dark Payback

Final Attack: Reverse Counter Slash
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

THE OOISHI DOJO (Muni School)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Muni school is the foundation of Shino Ittou. Like the Kyoshin style, it
relies on one-handed attacks, but they are not nearly so complex. The Final
Attack of the Muni style is the Sword Draw & Parting Mist, and is similar to
the Battou-Jutsu; the Final Attack of that famous Rurouni, Himura Kenshin.
This attack is lethal in close quarters and is extremely difficult to evade.

School Moto:
"I am the weapon... my sword is merely the instrument."

Getton Ooishi: Master of the Ooishi Dojo
Tatsunao Kirigamine: Disciple of the Ooishi Dojo
Liscensed Katana: Kanesada

These are the techniques of the Muni style:

1-Handed Horizonal Slash -> Parting Mist -> Parting Mist
Two Swords
Heatwave
Floating Boat -> Two Swords
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
1-Handed Straight Slash -> 1-Handed Up Slash -> Devil Wind

Horizontal Slash -> 1-Handed Horizontal Slash -> Tracking Thrust
Floating Boat -> Two Swords
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Final Technique: Sword Draw & Parting Mist
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

THE TANBARA DOJO (Muishinjin School)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Muishinjin School is closely related to Shino Ittou in that it
implements  many thrusting attacks, many of which inflict a great deal of
damage. As  Miyamoto-sama states in his Book of Five Rings, "a slash can be
equated with touching the enemy with your sword or fist. It is not a
committed attack." Additionally, The Tanbara style utilizes speed to
maximize it's styles explosive thrusting techniques. In corners and close
quarters, Muishinjin's Final Attack has no equal, and can decimate any
stylist.

School Moto:
"My clan will revere me, my enemies shall fear me, the Muishinjin style
knows no equal!" (except Shino Ittou... ^_^x)

Zesuiken Tanbara: Master of the Tanbara Dojo
Hideyasu Takagi: Disciple of the Tanbara Dojo
Liscensed Katana: Rai-Kuniyuki

These are the techniques of the Muishinjin style:

Body Pierce -> Body Pierce -> Multi Thrust
Armor Pierce
Rolling Thunder
Multi-Thrust -> Multi-Thrust
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Block and Strike -> Reverse Down Slash -> Block and Strike
Sacred Gateway
Double Cut
Decapitate -> Decapitate
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Final Attack: Wild Thrust
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

THE UDAGAWA DOJO (Isshin School)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The Isshin Style strikes a balance between technique & strength to increase
the power of their attacks. It is by far one of the more superior schools.
Their strong attacks and diverse techniques make it an extremely formidable
style. Their Final Attack is one of the best moves in the game (even better
than the Sword Draw & Parting Mist, if used at the right moment!). Their
practitioners are especially adept at breaking through defenses. Is there
any wonder why their chosen sword is named after one of the most legendary
weapons? (...or perhaps it IS that same legendary sword...? Who can say?)

School Moto:
"I will break all those who oppose me, to master my blade... I must master
my opponent!"

Kakuma Udagawa: Master of the Udagawa Dojo
Kotaro Susuoki: Disciple of the Udagawa Dojo
Liscensed Katana: Masamune

THE TSUBAKI DOJO (Kumomushin School)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This school has an unrefined style which is still in developement. Their
techniques are slow and predictable, but powerful. Kumomushin is lacking
both  grace and skill. Depite all this, the Tsubaki style's Final Attack
is a wonder to behold.

School Moto:
"My sword will pierce the skies, my might shall parch the earth... all will
tremble beneath the edge of the awesome Sukehiro!"

Jiroeman Tsubaki: Master of the Tsubaki Dojo
Seiichiro Shirai: Disciple of the Tsubaki Dojo
Liscensed Katana: Sukehiro

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

THE KADOKURA DOJO: (Fudo School)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

This is the only school that strives to kill with a single strike. They
exhibit powerful & swift combinations, but their technique is predictable
and their sword strokes are long. Their Final Attack is the fiercest
attack imaginable; it's precise and powerful, but easily avoided by a
trained swordsman.

School Moto: "My blade will part the heavens, and my fury shall scorch the
earth... all shall tremble with fear of the mighty Inousin-Kai!"

Shigetoshi Kadokura: Master of the Kadokura Dojo
Kanenobu Nimura: Disciple of the Kadokura Dojo

THE SHOZAEMON DOJO (Shino Ittou School)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The techniques of Shino Ittou are an amalgamation of the other schools. It's
attacks are swift, powerful, and lethal. Shino Ittou is "the Stroke of
Death".

School Moto:
"There is nothing more beautiful than a warrior with no distractions."

Shozaemon Hyuga: Master of the Shozaemon Dojo and creator of the Shino Ittou
style.

If executed properly, these techniques will not fail to slay any opponent:

Direct Blow -> Solar Blade, Tornado
Body Pierce -> Body Pierce -> Multi-Thrust
Solar Blade -> Tornado
Armor Pierce
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
1-Hand Str Slash -> 1 Handed Up Slash -> Elbow Strk
1-Hand Horz Slash -> Parting Mist -> Parting Mist
Floating Boat -> Two Swords
Floating Boat -> Mod Flying Swallow
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Scarlet Leaves, Scarlet Leaves, Scarlet Leaves
Crouched Slash -> Crouched Slash -> Crouched Slash
Parting Mist -> Flying Swallow
Chrysalis
Up Slash -> Storm God -> Storm God
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Final Attack: Sword Draw & Parting Mist
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

I have found the most lethal techniques of Shino Ittou are these:

Body Pierce -> Body Pierce -> Armor Pierce
Crouched Slash -> Parting Mist -> Flying Swallow
1-Hand Str Slash -> 1 Handed Up Slash -> Elbow Strk
Horizontal Slash -> Floating Boat -> Mod Flying Swallow

And of course, these are my most preferred moves as well. ^_^x

The Final Attack of Shino Ittou
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The Final Attack of Shino Ittou is the Sword Draw & Parting Mist.
First and foremost, do not commit to the Sword Draw & Parting Mist unless
you are certain it will strike the enemy dead. Wait until the enemy
strikes at you, and parry his blow. Once  his back is turned to you,
charge at him and knock him off-guard with a single slash. Once these
things are done, the Final Attack will surely succeed.

Doing Battle
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

When in combat, you must strike with all your spirit to be effective. Shout
at the enemy, parry his attacks, break his stance, knock him off-guard. In
short, you must learn to control your enemy's weapon by blocking and
parrying with your own.

To strike with all your spirit means to strike when your ki meter is full.

When you strike, strike quickly and with force. Attack with all your spirit.
Maintain the idea of striking the enemy without regard for yourself.
Maintain the idea of felling the enemy with one blow.

Do not be conscious of the particular technique you will use - this causes
hesitation. A wise man once said, "to float in totality, to have no
technique, is to have all technique." Many fighters make the mistake of
using a slash where a thrust is needed or a thrust where a slash is needed.
Striking the enemy without conscious thought; this is the way of Shino
Ittou. Make your mind silent and your sword fierce. Once you can strike
your foe without a conscious thought of doing so, you will have the
advantage over anyone you fight.

If executed properly, the techniques of Shino Ittou will not fail to slay
any opponent.

Unless you stand to lose nothing by failing to win (i.e. when you have
challenged another school and already have their sword), you must never fail
to keep your foe on the defensive. Attack constantly. Force him to react to
your moves. If you are ever in a position where you are not attacking the
enemy, you should be doing one of two things: Gathering ki, or preparing to
attack the enemy. As Miyamoto-sama states, "it is bad to let the enemy set
the pace of the battle; you must lead him about."
If you grow lax and allow the enemy time to formulate a strategy, he will
attack with all his force and you will lose. This you do not want.

The only time I have ever lost when using Shino Ittou was when I had paused
my attack to observe the enemy's technique.

Shino Ittou will never fail if these directions are followed.

Learning New Moves
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

As you progress, you will find that you may pick up a move or two from your
opponents. This is most important for the development of Shino Ittou, which
uses techniques from multiple schools.

The most difficult moves can be learned by observing the enemy. Strike him
with all your power, force him to react to you, and fight as if you will
kill him.

Once he is near defeat, stay your hand and let him recover. Once you feel
the moment has come, charge him. If he attacks, retreat the way you came
and witness his technique. Once you believe you've grasped it, charge him
and force him to expend his spirit. Parry him, block his weapon, kick him
down, whatever it takes to drain his ki. If he changes his stance to
perform a new technique, back off, then charge him again. Do this
repeatedly until you have his techniques. This is the best way I have
discovered.

*note: Masters, Disciples, and your opponents in the Imperial Tournaments
are all excellent opponents to study and learn from. Don't worry if it
takes a long time to learn all the techniques; I myself still don't know
them all!
