February 15 2005: Added the final touches to the FAQ. All known Cheat Codes have
                 been added as well as all Personality Suit descriptions. I
                 also added wave size information for every beach as well as
                 the few remaining Special Tricks listings. For all
                 intensive purposes this FAQ is now FINAL and will no longer be
                 updated unless something truly earthshaking is discovered.

February 14 2005: Completed the Walkthrough portion of this FAQ. Most other
                 sections are complete as well and only small additions and
                 modifications remain necessary. The next update will be the
                 Final Version.

February 13 2005: Added the first portion of the Walkthrough. Tons of stuff is
                 now complete.

February 12 2005: Began working on this document. Created the basic layout of
                 the FAQ and started inputting some of the easier information.
                 Also completed the first few levels of the Walkthrough.
                 Estimated time of completion: One week or less.

Welcome to my "KELLY SLATER'S PRO SURFER FAQ/WALKTHROUGH". In this FAQ you will
be able to find a completely detailed breakdown of everything associated with
this Tony Hawk styled surfing game. I have covered the entire career mode in
this document as well as a comprehensive list of all unlockable features
including bonus content.

If you absolutely need to contact me then you should first look for me on the
Kelly Slater's Pro Surfer(PS2) Message Boards over at GameFAQS.com. Alternately
you can always send me an email but make sure you type "KSPS" or "FAQ" in the
subject line of your email or it will most likely become a midnight snack for my
always hungry Recycle bin. If you don't receive a response please don't take it
personal, it may just take a while as I often work on various projects
simultaneously.

The Version you are reading is the FINAL VERSION and therefore no more updates
are to be expected. Unless you discover something so amazing that it must be
added I wouldn't even bother to send it in.

With that said enjoy the FAQ and the game! ^_~

Bio: Never has anyone dominated surfing like Kelly Slater. The six-time World
    Champion is the hero of surfers worldwide. Even in his early teens, Slater
    was a natural competitor, claiming six Eastern Surfing Association and four
    National Titles before heading into the big leagues. At the age of twenty,
    in his first full year on the tour, Slater became the youngest surfer ever
    to win the World title, backing up the hype that had been growing around
    him. His contest record is unrivaled, but it is his incredible freesurfing,
    as seen in vids like Quicksilver's "Kelly Slater in Black and White",
    "Surfers of Fortune", and Taylor Steele's "Momentum" series, that changed
    the way an entire generation of kids surfed and looked at surfing - The bar
    had been raised to a completely new level. Slater drew sharp, radical lines
    and he did it with power and style. For the last decade, the rest of the
    competitive surfing world has been playing catch up. During the '99 Pipe
    Masters, he blew minds everywhere when he nearly pulled a rodeo clown - he
    would eventually win the contest, claiming his fifth Pipe Masters victory.
    After taking a few years off the pro circuit, Kelly is back on tour and on
    a quest to break new world records.

Bio: "I'm going to become World Champion." That's what it said in the note 16
    year-old Lisa wrote to her parents when she left home in Ormond Beach,
    Florida to move to Huntington Beach, California. She'd only been surfing
    for three years and had no idea such a thing existed, but Lisa would live
    up to her words. The gifted regular-foot rapidly gained exposure and
    experience racking up over 30 National Scholastic Surfing Association
    trophies in less than a year and winning the US National Championships at
    Sebastien Inlet in 1987. From there, she just kept climbing. Four World
    Titles later, Lisa is still widely considered the most raw-talented female
    surfer on the planet. Along the way, Lisa became sponsored by Roxy,
    Quicksilver's women's division. Through this new relationship, the world
    saw a whole new face of women's surfing. With her natural beauty and
    aggressive surfing, Lisa became the icon of a new generation of women's
    surfing and to this day is on of the most feared competitors on the women's
    circuit.

               Balance  [1][2][3][4][5][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ]

Bio: In the '70s and early '80s, the Australians owned the world of surfing. But
    in 1982, a quiet, eighteen-year-old kid from California changed all that
    with a standout victory down under in Duranbah, Australia. It didn't take
    long before Tom Curren was the most popular surfer on the planet, a
    position he'd hold for two decades. A two-time West Coast, United States,
    and World amateur Champion, Curren fast-tracked his way into the big
    leagues with brilliant, unique surfing. In 1985-1986, he won back-to-back
    World Titles, and gained global respect as a surfer whose talent and wave-
    mastery went well beyond his years. It was in part thanks to his father,
    legendary big-wave surfer Pat Curren, who had Tom navigating the Santa
    Barbara pointbreaks almost as soon as he could walk. By the late '80s,
    Curren lost interest in competition and took off on a surf quest entitled
    "The Search". In 1990, he returned to competition and shocked the surfing
    world by winning his third World Title. Through the '90s, Tom remained the
    most low-profile top surfer in the world, with insane photos from remote
    mysto breaks trickling in every now and then. He currently holds the
    records for most career tournament victories (33), most victories in one
    season (7), and most consecutive years with at least one ASP victory (10).

Bio: Sydney, Australia's Tom Carroll has been a giant contributor to all that is
    professional surfing. He jumped on tour in 1979, an agro, nuggety goofy-
    foot with a penchant for deep tube riding and hard, full rail slashes. He
    won back-to-back World Titles in '83 and '84, both under the influence of
    brutal training regimens. In '85 he took a political stance and boycotted
    the World Championship Tour contest in South Africa, in effect sacrificing
    the opportunity to win a third consecutive World Title. In '88 he signed
    surfing's first million dollar contract and proceeded to take the sport to
    places it had never been before, for example, a wave pool event in
    Pennsylvania that he won. The tail end of Tom's career was highlighted by
    bar-raising performances at Pipeline, Hawaii (he won in '91). Today, Tom is
    a husband, a father of two, and as hardcore a surfer you'll find anywhere,
    spending a good part of his year exploring uncharted wave destinations and
    pulling into the biggest barrels he can find.

               Balance  [1][2][3][4][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ][ ]

Bio: Spawned from the fertile waters of Oahu, Hawaii's North Shore, Kalani Robb
    is a fiery, energetic, lightning quick goofy-foot capable of winning any
    event he enters. His best year to date was '96 where he finished seventh in
    the world and his maiden World Championship tour victory came just this
    last season in Rio de Janeiro, a win which had most Kalani-initiates
    saying, "It's about time!" Kalani comes from a highly supportive family;
    his mother and father stood by him the entire time as he rose up the
    amateur ranks. He turned pro in '93 and has a reputation that tends to
    exceed his contest results. The reason for this? Kalani's style is wildly
    expressive. He tends to be a gambler when it comes to contests, someone
    who's willing to risk going for the big 10-point moves that either bring
    the beach to its feet or leave Kalani in the lurch. Known amongst his
    friends as a witty, one-liner kind of funnyman. Kalani's brightest day has
    yet to come.

Bio: The smooth, flowing, seemingly effortless style of Rob "Mob" Machado is
    mirrored in his quiet Zen-like approach to life. The masterful 28 year-old
    goofy-foot, raised in Southern California, has been a permanent fixture in
    the World Championship Tour's (WCT) top ranks for eight years now. He's
    finished in the top 16 every one of those years, however, the year 2000 is
    when Rob completely lit up the tour. Whether he was getting spit out of
    gaping Tahitian tubes or ripping apart the French sandbars on the European
    leg, Rob was the man to beat in 2000. He finished the year with a
    remarkable 3 WCT victories, the last of which was in the most prestigious
    of all surf contests, Hawaii's Pipe Masters. After finishing number three
    in the world this year, it seems Rob isn't going anywhere until he gets a

Bio: Bruce Irons is probably the most naturally talented surfer since Kelly
    Slater. The Kauai wonderkid blew everyone's minds in '99 with his
    incredible backside tube riding in the Pipe Masters held in Hawaii. But
    even before that, he'd been a standout in photos from Indonesia boat trips
    with the most progressive surfers in the world. Bruce surfs with a rare mix
    or raw new-school talent combined with old-school rail power. He's one the
    few guys who can sit in a macking pipe barrel on his backhand just as easy
    as launching six-feet out and landing a frontside 360 air. Bruce, like his
    brother Andy, has taken a much more radical, progressive approach to any
    wave he surfs, and kids worldwide are following his lead. Last year he had
    a string of contest victories in Hawaii, showing that he was capable of
    much more than just spectacular freesurfing. But whether or not Bruce
    attempts to take his act to the full-time competitive battleground is
    beside the point, he's already one of the best by any standard.

Bio: When your dad's the legendary Herbie Fletcher and your brother Christian is
    the pioneer of aerial surfing, there's an enormous shadow to get lost in.
    Yet for Nathan Fletcher, it was never a problem. A well-known San Clemente,
    California surfer, Nathan burst onto the big stage in 1999 when the photos
    from a trip to Tahiti surfaces in magazines. From there, things went
    upward, literally. Nathan quickly showed himself to be every bit the
    aerialist his brother Christian was while pushing his own limits to
    formulate new tricks for future riders. Soon, he was sticking ollie 540's
    and some of the most massive backside airs ever seen. While many
    freesurfers don't get a lot of notoriety, the quiet, introspective goofy-
    foot has a punk-hero following worldwide. Recently added to the Quicksilver

Bio: Southern Californian Donavon Frankenreiter is a surfer whose ability is not
    reflected in his contest results. Why? He doesn't compete. Dono's what you
    call a "freesurfer," a surfer who's paid to ride waves but not required to
    enter competitions. Instead, Dono chooses to explore old, vintage
    surfboards; riding everything from old '70s pintails, mid-'80s twin fins,
    and mid-'80s fishes all in the course of a day. Dono spawned from that
    hotbed of talent known as the San Clemente mafia and immediately took his
    show on the road, traveling to remote corners of the globe such as Norway
    and Ireland. He's more of a journeyman than a surfer, taking in the entire
    experience of travel and not just the waves. He also plays in a rock n roll
    band called Sunchild, which he's managed to fuse with his surfing career.
    The beach by day, stage by night Donovon is often dubbed "The Renaissance

Travis Pastrana he started at the age of four with a one speed Honda Z-50, and
soon after hammered his way through a string of Amateur Motocross Titles(Five

Bio: Fans are not sure if he's more gymnast, acrobat or magician. The only thing
certain about Tony Hawk is that he is skateboarding's primary icon. His physical
skill and dazzling artistry have left fans in slack-jawed awe ever since he
turned pro at the age of fourteen. Tony's talents have brought a level of
attention to and respect for skateboarding which, in turn, has helped legitimize
all action sports.

Ever since older brother Steve had given him his first Bahne fiber glass model
some years ago, Tony wanted to skate. Two years later, to the surprise of his
father Frank(The local Little League president), Tony quit baseball at age
eleven to pursue his true love. The decision proved to be fortuitous.
Skateboarding eventually evolved from  a favorite pastime of rebellious tattooed
teenagers to a respected action sport requiring talent, self-discipline and
intense training. Today top skaters can earn six figure incomes.

By placing first or second in nearly every event in his career, and by inventing
more than 80 tricks, Tony has earned fiercely loyal fans here as well as Europe,
Australia, Japan and the world over. At 34, Tony is best known for his "900" (a
mid-air 360 degree somersault done 2.5 times) which existed only in theory until
Tony landed it at the Summer '99 X Games and then again at MTV's Sports and
Music Awards. In 2000, Tony wrote a best selling book, Hawk: Occupation
Skateboarder, and was awarded the ESPY for best alternative athlete. His idea
for Tony Hawk's Gigantic Skatepark Tour took skaters and BMX bikers to
skateparks across the US. These televised events quickly became the highest
rated show on ESPN2.

In 2001 Tony received the first ever Action Sports Achievement Award for his
unparalleled achievements in skateboarding. His best-selling Tony Hawk Pro
Skater video game won many awards in the industry. And the Nickelodeon Kid's
Choice Awards awarded Tony Best Male Athlete and Best Video Game.

Tony has appeared in numerous commercials and ad campaigns. When not skating for
millions of screaming fans, Tony resides in California with his wife Erin and
three sons, Riley, Spencer and Keegan.

This section serves mainly as a way to familiarize yourself with the
fundamentals of surfing in general along with your basic and advanced gameplay
mechanics to help you become an unstoppable force in this game.

+=~=~=~=~=~=+
|1. BASICS  |
+=~=~=~=~=~=+
The first thing you need to know is exactly what all of the terminology stands
for. Let's start with the basic features of a wave.

                           <----- Direction of Wave
------LIP-------------------------------------------.
                    \        \        \       \     \
       ^              \        \        \      \   <-\--- THE FALLS/CURL
       |                \        \        \     \     \
  <-- FACE -->            \        \        \     \    \
       |                    \        \        \    \    |
       v     BARREL/TUBE --> |       |        |     |   |
                            /       /        /     /   /
------ THE IMPACT ZONE --> XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

In this next diagram I have illustrated where each Trick Section of the wave is.

       AIR TRICKS
----------------------------------------------------.  <-- FLOATER TRICKS
                    \        \        \       \     \
                      \        \        \      \     \
                        \        \        \     \     \
   FACE TRICKS            \        \        \     \    \
                            \        \        \    \    |
             BARREL/TUBE --> |       |        |     |   |
               TRICKS       /       /        /     /   /
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
FACE TRICKS: Face Tricks are maneuvers performed while on the clean face section
            of the wave. This move include Tail Chucks, Revert Cutbacks,
            Gouge's, Tail Slides, Face Snaps and Rebounds etc.
BARREL/TUBE TRICKS: This tricks can only be performed when tucked inside the
                   tube with the Balance Meter showing onscreen. Tricks
                   include, but are not limited to: Christ Tube, Wall Drag,
                   Roof Drag, Tube Spit, Lawn Dart, Coffin etc.
FLOATER TRICKS: These tricks are performed by pressing TRIANGLE when near the
               lip of the wave or when landing on the breaking section. Tricks
               can include a variation of angles. There are no Special Floater
               Tricks available sadly.
AIR TRICKS: Air Tricks as you might imagine can only be performed after
           launching up from the wave. There are a hjost of these available and
           to give you a few names: Nacnac, Superman, Tail/Nose Grab, Indian,
           JC Air, Helicopter, Alley Oop etc.
A FEW BASIC RULES TO SUCCESSFUL SURFING ARE:
-Always land an aerial trick by making sure the nose of your board is pointed
down.
-Crashing into the curling/breaking part of the wave will cause you to wipe out.
-If you see a section that is about to break try to perform a Floater maneuver
over the top of it.
-Carve and slash your way up and down the face of the wave to increase your
speed.
+=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=+
|2. ADVANCED SURFING  |
+=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=+
The key to really ripping it up in this game lies in your ability to link your
tricks together and execute your landings flawlessly. In order to maximize you
point tallies I highly recommend mixing each ride up with as many different
tricks on each part of the wave. To give you an example let's take a look at a
possible run.
Example:
Late Take Off -> Super Stall -> Tube Ride (Christ Air, One Handed Roof Drag,
Foot Drag, Spit out) -> Aerial (Judo Air) -> Perfect Landing -> Tail Slide ->
Face Snap -> Carve -> 360 Rail Grab -> Revert Cutback -> Aerial (Nose Grab, Tail
Grab) -> Perfect Landing -> Gouge -> Aerial (Superman) -> Perfect Landing ->
Aerial (Indian) -> Perfect Landing -> Cutback -> Floater -> "R3" (Cash In
Points) -> Exit Move.
Once you get the hang of landing your aerials cleanly you will find it much
easier to get into a flowing rhythm where you can link together 20, 30 or more
tricks without breaking the chain.
Keep in mind that diversity is everything. Continuously repeating the same one
or two moves will count for less and less points and who wants to play through
such a boring stanza anyway?
+=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=+
|3. OTHER FEATURES  |
+=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=+
SPECIAL METER: There are two sections of the Special Meter, Green and Yellow.
              GREEN: The meter will be completely empty when you take off on a
                     new wave. As soon as you start to perform tricks you will
                     notice that it will begin to slowly fill with a green
                     color. While the meter is green you will only be able to
                     perform regular tricks and maneuvers. You will also not be
                     able to link tricks from the different wave sections at
                     this time.
              YELLOW: Once you have filled the green meter completely it will
                      begin to flash in a yellow color. At this point you can
                      perform Special Tricks on each section of the wave for as
                      long as you can keep the meter flashing. Additionally you
                      can now also link your different tricks together as you
                      move from section to section. The key to keeping the
                      meter flashing is to land Perfectly from aerials and to
                      keep pulling off hard and Special Tricks. If you want
                      huge points you will need to link huge tricks while the
                      Yellow meter is flashing.
                      NOTE: You can quickly build your Special Meter by
                            performing multiple face tricks or by landing
                            aerials perfectly.
PERFECT AND SLOPPY: This refers to the rating you will get whenever you land an
                   aerial. The key to always landing perfectly is by landing at
                   an angle that is exactly opposite to the angle from which
                   you launched off of the wave. If you land Sloppy it will
                   cost you by decreasing your Special Meter.
SCORING TIPS: -Do Face Tricks to max out your Special Meter. Keep the meter
              going by performing more face tricks or by landing aerials
              perfectly.
             -Special Tricks as you might imagine score higher points.
             -Link your tricks to increase the combo chain.
             -Every unique trick you perform with a maxed meter adds more combo
              points. The bigger the trick, the more points you'll get.
             -Repeating tricks lowers their value and slowly decreases the
              meter.
             -The closer to the breaking portion of the wave you perform a
              trick, the more points it is worth.
             -The longer and deeper the tube ride, the greater the point total.
             -The more rotation you can pull off in the air the more points you
              will gain. Just remember to land perfect though.
             -Cash in your Combo Points by pressing "R3" at any time.
TUBE METER: The tube meter appears onscreen once you stall and are fully inside
           the barrel. To keep your balance you'll need to keep the red upside-
           down triangle in the middle on the meter by continuously tapping
           LEFT and RIGHT. The meter will turn from yellow to red as you move
           deeper into the barrel and the more difficult it will become to
           maintain your balance. A helpful hint would be to grab our rail.
TRICK BOOK: As you unlock more and more tricks in the game you can view them in
           your Trick Book while on the boat. Not only can you see how they are
           executed but it is a handy little reference manual that you can
           always visit to see what button combination the Monkey Man or Cave
           Man move requires. I recommend you familiarize yourself with all new
           tricks as you unlock them because you are going to need more and
           more diversity if you want to keep racking up the points as the
           game's challenges become more and more demanding.
ICONS: There are a variety of icons that will pop up onscreen as you surf your
      way through the various challenges. Typically you will have to deal with
      them during the ICON CHALLENGES. Here is the basic rule of thumb when it
      comes to identifying the Icons:
      TRIANGLE ICON: Aerial Maneuver
      SQUARE ICON  : Face Trick
      OVAL ICON    : Tube Trick
      "!" ICON     : Environmental Challenge Icon. Press "R2" immediately.
MULTIPLAYER: There are three mulitiplayer modes available in KSPS. Here is a
            brief description of each:
            -PUSH: In this game you fight for screen size. The more tricks you
                   perform, the smaller your buddies portion of the screen
                   becomes. The goal is for one of you to completely push the
                   other out of the screen.
            -HEAD-TO-HEAD: This game basically is a challenge to see who can go
                           bigger and score more points as you take turns
                           surfing the wave.
            -TIME ATTACK: In this mode you again take turns surfing and scoring
                          tricks. The higher you score, the less time your
                          opponent will have in their run and vice versa.
+=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=+
|4. TIPS AND HINTS  |
+=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=~=+
-Learn to land your aerials perfectly.
-Use the Tube to diversify your ride and score more points.
-In Photo Op's try to get a shot with a Special Air maneuver for insane points.
-Press "R2" when an object icon pops up so that you can actually see the
Windsurfer or Fatty from afar.
-Use all of the wave to your advantage. Tie Face moves together with Aerials and
floaters and don't forget to get barreled.
-Mix your tricks. Don't get lazy and keep performing the same one-two. Be
creative and learn to be innovative and never repetitive.
-If you get frustrated with a particular objective, leave the beach and come
back to it a little later. Sometimes it beats smashing your forehead through
the TV.
-Upgrade your boards as soon as you unlock new ones, they boost your stats and
that helps you out plenty.
==================================
A FEW QUICK QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
==================================
Q: How can I rack up big points quickly?
A: By maxing out your Special Meter and linking tricks together. Just make sure
  to press "R3" before the meter runs out to cash the combo points in. A mere
  four or five linked tricks can be worth 30,000+ points.
Q: How can I keep my Special Meter filled for the challenges?
A: Just keep busting Face Tricks or landing perfectly. The meter tends to
  deplete quicker in the last few seconds of the challenge so quickly perform a
  Floater or double tap TRIANGLE to get those last few seconds out of it.
Q: Is there any sort of special unlockable for bringing all my surfers to the
  Cosmos? (Including the Secret characters)
A: Unfortunately not.
Q: How do I jump the freaking pier at Sebastian?
A: Wait until you have completed the Maverick challenges and then try it again
  with you upgraded board and increased air stats.
Q: What's the best strategy to scoring high points on photo shoots?
A: Try timing it so that you are in the midst of a Special Aerial Trick right
  when the picture is snapped. Special Barrel or Face Tricks will also rack up
  the score.
Q: The Icon Challenges are killing me. Any tips?
A: Try performing two simultaneous tricks whenever possible to buy time. (e.g
  Tail Grab + Judo Air in one jump) Also keep in mind that you are not
  obligated to perform the lowest icon on your screen. You can eliminate any of
  the icons at any time but only the lowest one will add to your score. This is
  especially useful if you have two Barrel tricks sandwiching another tick.
  Eliminate the other trick and then get barreled and take both tricks out
  together.
This is the Meat of the FAQ so to speak. In this section I have broken down each
of the required tasks you need to do in order to successfully beat the games
"Career Mode". Although there are quite a few characters to choose from I have
decided for the purpose of this walkthrough to use Kelly Slater as my selected
character. In terms of storyline, there really isn't much of any so you do not
need to worry about spoilers in this guide. Before we begin however let's take a
quick look at what you can expect throughout the various beaches.
======================================
TYPES OF CHALLENGES YOU WILL ENCOUNTER
======================================
PHOTO CHALLENGE: Bust the best trick out right as the timer expires to
                successfully complete the photo shoot requirements. If you can
                pull off a Special Aerial then so much the better.
ICON CHALLENGE: During these challenges, Icons will drop from the left side of
               the screen. These Icons each represent a certain trick that must
               be performed in order to move to the next Icon. If you let them
               stack up too far you will fail just like in Tetris. A little tip
               would be to try linking Icon tricks together to always remain a
               step ahead. Points-wise if you chain all five icons onscreen
               together you will get a nice 10,000 Point boost.
COMPETITION: These are clearly the most difficult of all the Challenges. In
            order to complete them you will need to progressively place higher
            in contests to win. The problem is that it is always a three heat
            contest so you need to be on your game three times in a row without
            screwing up in order to win. The one in G-Land can drive you to
            chew on your controller man.
ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD(S): These challenges typically require you to jump over a
                        pier, break several objects or splash three fatty's,
                        windsurfers etc. Whenever the onscreen "!" prompt warns
                        you that the hazard is coming up, quickly press and
                        hold "R2" to get a better camera angle on where you'll
                        need to vear in order to hit/jump over them.
SCORE X AMOUNT OF POINTS: As the name suggests, you will need to pull out all
                         the tricks in your arsenal and link the maneuvers
                         together to score the required amount. Max your
                         Special Meter out and diversify your tricks throughout
                         the various sections of the wave.
KEEP YOU SPECIAL METER MAXED FOR X SECONDS: The key to these challenges is
                                           simply linking your tricks fluidly
                                           and landing perfectly. Get into a
                                           rhythmic flow and do your thing man.
NOTE: You only need to complete the REQUIRED GOAL to unlock the next beach.
     Completion of the secondary goals will reward you with Skill, Equipment
     and Special Trick upgrades. You will visit most of the beaches in the game
     at least twice.
Required Goal 1: SCORE 2000 POINTS IN 3 PHOTOS AND SCORE 10,000 POINTS
Unlockable(s): New Board(Go to the boat to get it), New Beach(Mavericks),
              Trestles Second set of Challenges, Air Skill Improved.
Walkthrough: Simply carve your way up and down the wave to get some speed and
            then launch yourself up into the air and pull a trick before
            landing perfectly. Once your Special Meter has been filled you
            will hear the camera's countdown and the viewfinder will zoom in on
            you. Try to pull an aerial trick right as the camera snaps the
            shot and the first part of this goal will be taken care of. For the
            10,000 points, simply get your Special Meter maxed and pull off a
            couple of linked tricks. Now simply press "R3" to cash in the
            points and voila. (You have several chances to get the photo so
            don't worry if you don't get it on the first try)
Optional Goal 1: MAX OUT YOUR SPECIAL METER FOR 5 SECONDS
Unlockable(s): None
Walkthrough: This should be accomplished while following the above strategy.
            Otherwise simply get your meter filled, perform and air trick, land
            perfectly and immediately follow it up with a Face Trick.
Optional Goal 2: BEAT THE GROM (12,500 POINTS)
Unlockable(s): None
Walkthrough: If you follow my advice in linking a few tricks while the Special
            Meter is flashing and then pressing "R3" to cash in your combo
            points you will pass this task in no time.
Optional Goal 3: BEAT THE LOCAL (25,000 POINTS)
Unlockable(s): None
Walkthrough: The same "R3" cashing strategy applies here again. Just fill, link,
            cash in. Repeat. You could easily rack up over 100,000 points even
            with such weak starting stats by using this strategy.
Optional Goal 4: JUMP THE PIER
Unlockable(s): None
Walkthrough: I recommend waiting on this particular challenge until you have
            some more stat and equipment upgrades. I would advise you to come
            back to this challenge as soon as you've finished all of Maverick's
            Beach Goals as you will have a better board and some valuable Air
            Stats by then. Once you are ready, simply stay close to the curl
            while carving and building speed. As soon as you get the "!"
            warning, press and hold "R2" to see the pier in the distance and
            now build up some speed and launch right before you get to it at
            a 45 degree angle to clear it. You don't need to land perfectly
            but you cannot afford to bail on it.
            Face Snaps. As soon as the "!" icon appears press and hold "R2".
            Now simply steer over and run Fatty over. Repeat this two more
            time trying. Start off by ripping as many face tricks and aerials
            as you can while minimizing repeating the same ones. As you begin
            linking tricks up I recommend cashing the points in from time to
            this in just one jump.
Optional Goal 3: SCORE 10,000 IN FACE TRICKS
Walkthrough: To achieve this goal simply start off by pulling a few Reverts,
