1. What's the point of this FAQ? And what the heck is
"Ichigeki Sacchuu!! HoiHoi-San"
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
This FAQ exists for those lacking in Japanese knowledge, and have problems
understanding what they're purchasing or the requirements for certain levels.
Unfortunately, this FAQ release does not have story translation, so I can't
help you with that. Maybe a future release.
Konami Computer Entertainment Tokyo releases a game that mixes 3D platform
and dress-up, all in a cute little package.
You control the main character in the main menu modes, as her owner.
During the missions, you obviously control HoiHoi-san.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
2. How to play
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Your objective is to defeat the insects that threaten people's homes, and
to do so before your battery life runs out.
CONTROLS:
During menus:
D-pad highlights menu options.
O selects
X cancels/brings up menu.
L2 and R2 make HoiHoi do different things. Each costume has her do different
poses.
Right analog stick zooms in and out (of HoiHoi)
L and R rotates HoiHoi
In the Shop and Custom menu, L and R will change pages.
During gameplay:
D-Pad and left analog controls HoiHoi-san
Triangle shoots the left handed weapon (usually projectile)
O attacks the right handed weapon (usually melee weapon like a sword)
L1 dashes
R1 re-centers the camera
L2 zooms into HoiHoi as a closer look perspective
R2 Makes HoiHoi creep up (when held down). If you move the left analog stick
lightly, it does the same thing.
During the menu mode, you decide what you want to accesorize your HoiHoi-san
with, go to the shop, start the missions, or game options.
2a. Menus and missions
-START-UP SCREEN-
START: If you don't have a save, start a new game here.
CONTINUE: This option is gray-ed out if you don't have a HoiHoi save.
Otherwise, here's where you load your game.
OPTION:
Can't really tell what this is for, probably for changing options.
In all seriousness, not much you can change in this game.
Save/Load your game, adjust stereo/mono, reconfigure your buttons, or
turn on auto-save. FILTER and SAVE cannot be used here, only in-game.
OMAKE: Extras you can unlock throughout the game, including movies and
stuff.
-HOME SCREEN-
When you start up a game or continue, you start here at "Home."
This is indicated by Hoi Hoi walking, sometimes posing, and if you have
a voice upgrade, she'll greet you.
The left side of the screen will tell you the name of your file and
how much of the game you have completed.
L1 and R1 will rotate Hoi Hoi
Right analog up and down will zoom in and out of Hoi Hoi.
L2 will have her pose #1. Her pose changes according to costume.
R2 will have her pose #2.
The menus are listed in the following order:
MISSION MODE:
You can only go as far as you've been. You will advance one space once you've
met all the mission's requirements. See Level FAQ for the requirements.
If you don't have any ammo for a gun, or no weapons, you will be given a
warning before proceeding. You may choose to exit or say no by choosing the
second option.
If you wish to exit Mission Mode, hit X. The menu will let you go to:
"MAIN MENU MODE"
"CUSTOM MODE"
"CANCEL"
See 2b. for more on Missions.
SHOP:
Need another gun? Want to make HoiHoi dress more fashionably? Getting sick of
her current voice? If you got the money, get to the Shop! If you don't have
enough money, just go do some missions. It's tedious, but the effort can be
worth it! For more on the shop's items and specifics, see the Shop FAQ.
The items in the shop will seem small at first, but as you buy more items and
collect more from missions, this list will grow.
Remember: you can't buy ammo for a gun you don't have!
CUSTOM:
This is your customizing mode. Dress up your HoiHoi-san here for battle. You
can change weapons, dress her up, and give her voices in this mode. You can
obviously only equip or wear parts that you've bought.
*SEE THE SHOP FAQ BELOW FOR WHAT PARTS DO WHAT AND RESTRICTIONS*
L-Hand will equip her left-hand weapon.
R-Hand will equip her right-hand weapon.
Dress will change her costume.
Parts will equip her parts.
Use the Right analog up and down to zoom in and out
L1 and R1 rotates Hoi Hoi.
If you wish to exit Custom Mode, hit X. The menu will let you go to:
"MAIN MENU MODE"
"MISSION MODE"
"CANCEL"
OPTION: Same as the title screen OPTION, except here you can save and
change the FILTER. You can change the color of the bugs if you're having
problems trying to see them on-screen. This is useful if you can't see the
bugs hiding in the dark.
2b. Mission gameplay details
Through missions, you will gain money based on how fast you've performed...and
provided you didn't break anything in the room (by attacking it). If you
attack any perishable items (like nail polish bottles, CD's, picture frames,
plants), you will lose money, and it slightly affects your grade.
You may repeat missions without penalty. In fact, it's encouraged so that you
will earn more money for the shops, and so you can get faster times and better
grades. Please note that if you fail to meet certain conditions (such as
protecting the cake), you will automatically fail the mission, and all penalties
accrued will also be taken into effect.
Your Rank depends on how quickly you've completed your mission.
In other words, you might find yourself playing old missions over and over
again, because you will need A's to proceed to the later missions.
Also note that on the bottom of your screen, there's a little energy bar.
That's your battery life. Your battery life will decrease with time, and
even faster if you get attacked or hit. Running into walls or stationary
objects does not affect battery. If your battery runs out, the mission is
over. You can prevent this either by using a recharge station and/or by
purchasing a larger battery at the shop.
If you have a Analyze or H.V.A. equipped, the radar at the top of the screen
will be more detailed than the standard Antennae or Voice kit antennae may
offer.
The bottom right hand of the screen will tell you how many enemies are left
to destroy.
Any time during a mission, hitting the START button will bring up a menu:
"Resume"
"Restart"
"Force quit mission" (will ask for confirmation, yes or no)
Note that if you force quit a mission, you will FAIL the mission. You may
or may not accrue penalties, depending if you damaged any household items.
The enemies: Insects
You will mostly face cockroaches, but you will also run into silverfish,
flies, bees, locusts, grasshoppers, and other such pests. The ones to be
aware of:
-Roaming cockroaches: They have no pattern and are generally easy to kill
-Resting roches: They will be sitting still, but if you run too fast at them,
or you miss with your gun, it will startle them and they will run. They will
either run away, then return to their exact position or they will move to
another position. Generally, they only run to about 3 different positions
and repeating them.
-Locusts: They will occasionally sting you, but they're otherwise like resting
roaches.
-Grasshoppers: VERY sensitive, approach with caution, but not too close. Then
dash attack them. Or just shoot 'em.
-???: I don't know what they are, but if you approach them, they will come out
and attack you, then move back to their original position. Even though
they're slow, be careful of them. The baby versions will roam freely and
continually attack you, so watch out. You'll know what they are when you see
them, I apologize for the lack of description.
-Bees: They only appear in one level, but are EXTREMELY vicious. They will
attack you and stick on you until you can kill them. Distance yourself from
them and kill, or if they're group attacking you, use a rocket-based weapon,
and detonate one enemy; it should kill any others nearby.
Lifts
Little round platforms on the edges of tables or walls with a little bow-tie
insignia on it. Appears in particular levels only.
These are useful, not only because enemies will sometimes rest on higher/lower
levels, but some elevators hide hidden items. Watch for them. Just remember
though, they DO slow you down, so use them only when necessary.
To activate them, just stand on the little circular platform, and it should
automatically activate.
All elevators work off an activator battery that looks like a little mailbox.
There are three colors, red, green, and blue. If you don't have the battery,
you can't use that color elevator. A little blinking yellow light next to
elevator means you have that color battery. Each one can be found on
certain levels (i.e., I believe the green one was on top of a bookshelf).
Hidden items
Each level after the first four levels have hidden items. Some give you points
(I don't know what these are for), some have other items, such as money, puzzle
pieces, activators, and etc. Make sure you use the elevators and check every
crevice of every area. If you see a hidden item on another level on a
different platform, there will be an elevator for it!
2c. Parts list
This is included only so you know WTF each item is in the PARTS section.
*NOTE: This list is complete, however your list may look different until
you get 100% items. The order of items will otherwise be the same.*

3. Frequently Asked Questions (Or questions you might ask...or maybe not)
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Q. Where can I buy this game?
A. I cannot help you with that. There are import stores that hold this game.
Q. Does Konami or any toy manufacturers sell actual HoiHoi dolls?
A. Yes. Konami offers a package with the game for about 9000 yen (approx. $95).
You may try to track down an import shop that sells it, or if you can get an
address in Japan, you can go onto Konamistyle.com, and order it through there.
As for buying just the figurine itself, I don't know.
Q. Does the voices matter?
A. It does not seem to matter, it looks like it's just personal preference.
Q. What does HoiHoi say?
A. Depending on which Antennae you choose, she may say a variation of things,
but generally, it's the same idea.
When in the main menu screen:
"goshujin-sama, konban wa" (Good day, master)
When leaving for the shop:
"Itterashai!" (See you!)
When returning from the shop:
"Okaeri nasai!" (Welcome back!)
See section 6 for more quotes.
Q. What does Kimiko say when you enter the shop?
A. Irrashaimase! (welcome, or come in)
Q. What are the cat ears for?
A. I have no idea.
Q. Is the Internet Ranking missions still open?
A. No, but you can play them, but the code would be useless.
Q. How come I can't access certain elevators?
A. You need the corresponding activator to work it. Red is the most basic,
you need to find green and blue. They look like little mailboxes.
Q. Why is it that sometimes an old man is at the store instead of Kimiko?
A. I don't know, that changed once I got the voice accessory. I think it's
dependant on when you go during the day in the game, I'm not entirely sure.
Note that this can prevent certain story sequences.
Q. Does anything special happen if you buy everything out in the shop?
A. The only thing I noticed is when you return home, the backdrop is now pink,
and it now shows that you are officially a HoiHoi "otaku" or basically a nerdy
fanatic (with boxes of HoiHoi stuff everywhere).
Q. What's "OMAKE" mode?
A. It includes all the video sequences you've seen throughout the game,
including the ending. Unfortunately, the feature doesn't unlock until after
you've beaten the game.
Q. There are some items in your FAQ that I have but are not listed!
A. I realize that I don't have some items, and I don't know how to. These are
the ones I was able to obtain. If you know how to get other items (like the
Raincoat), I would be more than happy to take your input (you will get
credit).
*added*
According the StarCreator, the Raincoat is not an obtainable costume, only in
Konami's website can you see it...which no longer seems to exist for this
game unfortunately.
Q. Where are some of the puzzle pieces?
A. I'm missing about 3 pieces myself, if you know where to get them, please
contact me. See my e-mail address at the bottom of this FAQ. They are
generally found in the levels.

4. Level FAQ
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Mission 1-1
Objective: Kill 10 insects
My record - 1:02:55 (A Rank)
-Basic mission, mostly standard roaches.
-If you start getting low on energy, look for the little recharger next to one
of the desks. It looks like a little black pedastal. Just walk into it to use
it. HoiHoi will automatically walk off once she finishes recharging.
Mission 1-2
Objective: Kill 14 insects
My record - 1:18:61 (A Rank)
-Another basic mission, standard roaches plus the resting ones.
Mission 1-3
My record - 1:33:38 (A Rank)
Objective: Kill 20 insects
Mission 1-4
Objective: Kill the centipede
My record - 0:36:25 (A Rank)
-This may take a little practice. I would suggest saving up to
buy a stronger melee weapon for this. My weapon of choice early in the
game was a hammer. Later, Excalibur will do the job quicker.
-The centipede will initially try to attack you, then possibly attack
you again, then it will go into a pattern of poking his head out. Randomly,
it will end up in the other side of the room. STAY CLEAR OF IT OTHERWISE IT
WILL RUN YOU OVER.
-You can choose to attack the rest of the body first to slow it down, or try
to go straight for the head.
-Advanced technique: If you have a slow/powerful melee, use dash attacks, but
make sure you can keep a good distance away so you don't get hit.
-Best attack point is the head. Sneak up a distance from it's head, and dash
attack it. With a Hammer, I've killed it in under 40 seconds. Once you kill
just the head, it'll die, regardless if you've even touched the body.
---
Mission 2-1
Objective: Kill 26 insects
My record - 2:55:85 (A Rank)
-Nothing out of the ordinary.
-Remember, here's where you need to start looking for hidden items.
Mission 2-2
Objective: Kill 35 insects
My record - 2:19:46 (A Rank)
-Ignore the flying bee, it's there to distract you, waste your ammo, and waste
your time. Unless you have some Godly aim with a bazooka (which I don't think
even works, even the sniper rifle will not kill it or reach it.
-But if you reach the third level, notice there's a big bag hanging from the
ceiling. That's a growing beehive, which you'll get to worry about later =)
-Be careful as you approach the insects, they will try to run into you while
you are on the beams.
-After you've taken care of the ones on the beams, you'll have to go to the
ground. Break the weak areas of the walls (that are cracked, just use a
weapon). The enemies down here will walk around in random patterns or will
try to come after you. Some will emerge from nowhere, or will crawl through
the cracks on the walls, so be careful.
Mission 2-3
Objective: Protect the cake!
My record - 1:55:55 (A Rank)
-Ants will be trying to get a piece of cake! Make sure you kill the ants as
they come up. If they manage to nip at the cake and run off, they will come
back after they disappear from the table, so don't bother chasing them as they
run away, otherwise you may leave the cake in danger of other ants.
-The smaller the ants, the faster they are, so watch for those.
Mission 2-4
Objective: Kil 34 insects
My record - 3:36:53 (B Rank)
-Be careful as you go up to the sink level, the cleaning items are perishable.
-The beer cans are perishable as well on the lower level.
-When you get to the end of the vent shaft on the third level, a hoarde of
enemies will attack you, so watch out behind you.
Mission 2-5
Objective: Kill both centipedes
My record - 0:48:78 (A Rank)
-If you can breeze through 1-4, this is the same thing, except you have to kill
one after the other. Just be careful not to take too long or get hit too many
times.
-My weapon of choice was the Excalibur.
-This mission moreso than 1-4, avoid using guns unless you have something like a
bazooka. Hammer, Screw Arm, and Excalibur are far more efficient, although
riskier.
-There's two blue elevators in this level in the corner of the room, and one
green one in the middle of the room.
Mission 2-6
Objective: Kill 60 insects
My record - 3:13:20 (C Rank)
For an A Rank - 3:40, no guns allowed.
-Help poor Kimiko out! Her apartment is infested!
-Be VERY careful when on top of her table. The cockroaches and mosquitoes will
be sitting around, near, next to, or will be weaving around delicate items.
Best thing to do it use a gun. For the mosquitoes, make sure you're standing
on the edge to ensure a clean shot.
-After 50 enemies, 10 cockroaches will be RACING around the table in circles.
This is tricky, but do NOT stand in their way if there are more than 5 alive.
Either stand in one place, and chop away, or try to cut them off. Don't try
chasing them either, they will out run you.
-To clear with an A, and you use a gun, make sure you keep your accuracy tight!
Missing your shots will detract from your rank!
*added*
Thanks to StarCreator for the tip!
-If you clear this with an A, Kimiko will be impressed and will run inside and
give you a Gothic Dress.
---
Mission 3-1
Objective: Kill 40 insects
My record - 3:59:41 (B Rank)
Mission 3-2
Objective: Protect the cake
My record - 2:42:26 (C Rank)
-This one is a HUGE pain, MUCH worse than the other.
-You have to ward of much more wards of ants, and the table are is MUCH
smaller. Plus, you'll have to be careful of destroying items on the table.
Thankfully, there are more larger and slower ants than smaller ones.
-Now there are flying roaches as well, that will settle on the cake and
constantly munch away at the cake until you kill it.
-Make sure you have a gun for this one, it'll be VERY handy for kill the
roaches.
Mission 3-3
Objective: Kill the queen
My record - 1:37:18 (A Rank)
-Break a few walls to find the hidden items. Also, take different elevators up
to find more.
-This place is a maze. Be careful of breaking walls, as sometimes enemies will
just materialize in front of you.
-There is a platform here where you can recharge your battery. Use it as you
must. The queen herself isn't hard, but it's the little babies that constantly
attack you that will take down your energy. If you don't have a battery pack,
now is the time to pick one up.
Mission 3-4
Objective: Kill 25 insects
My record - 2:55:80 (A Rank)
-These are all grasshoppers. They are VERY sensative to your presence, and you
will not be able to sneak up next to them. You'll either have to dash-kill, or
use your gun.
-This third level if you go upstairs is VERY dangerous. Make sure you have a
powerful weapon, as two HUGE insects will attack you, and will not let you go
around them.
After this mission, the game will introduce HoiHoi's rival, Combat-san.
Mission 3-5
Objective: Destroy the beehive
My record - 0:36:91 (A Rank)
-The bees here are EXTREMELY persistant. And there are a ton of them.
-This is the time to pick up a bazooka or missle launcher.
-My weapon of choice here is the Excalibur. Make your way to the beehive,
and just hack away. If a couple bees are on your back, turn around, slash
once, then hack away at the beehive. At this point, the bees are just there to
distract you. This is also the fastest way to complete the level.
-I would also get all the battery packs if I were you.
It turns out that Kimiko decided to pick up the latest new thing, the
Combat-san model.
Mission 3-6
Objective: Kill 60 insects.
My record - 4:46:05 (B Rank)
-It's a mix of about everything. It does get very frustrating however, because
there are a couple sequences of enemies racing in circles.
Kimiko finds that Combat-san did a bit too much of a good job exterminating...
.and for the same reason she got rid of her HoiHoi-san, she wants to get rid
of her Combat-san.
Go to the shop, then exit, and you'll have a conversation with Kimiko, and
Mission 4-1 will open up.
Mission 4-1
Objective: ?????
My record - 1:19:06 (A Rank)
-Hoi Hoi-san VS Combat-san! The first thing she does is rush you, so stay out
of her way.
-Her pattern is to run around, and then rush you. You know when she'll get
ready because she talks...a lot.
-Don't stand around, or she'll attempt to rush you.
-If she starts glowing, she will dash at you VERY fast, so watch out for that.
You can do a dash attack at her at the same time to nullify it, but timing is
crucial.
-After any of her rushing attacks, she has some recovery time. Do dash attacks
at her then.
-When she weakens, she will jump up, charge up, then stomp on you. As you run
towards her while she's charging, the minute you hear her say "HA!", dash
towards the direction she jumped from. As she recovers, turn around and dash
attack her. Try not to rely on guns too much here, except if you see a brief
opening (where she's too far to stab her). She has a tendency to dodge bullets
if she's already moving, so don't shoot her while she's running.
Once you beat Combat-san, you will see the ending.
In the main title screen, you will now have unlocked "OMAKE" mode.
After the ending, it will prompt you to save. Once you return to the Mission
Mode screen, the three hexagons will open up as SP missions.
These were for Internet Ranking and are optional. If you want to get 100%
completion however, you'll want to do them all.
Mission SP1
Objective: Clear the level. Square button will bring up your Internet Ranking
password (useless).
My record - 15:08:15 (C Rank) *Not like I'm doing this again*
Internet Ranking record - 8:48:55
-600 insects. Mostly cockroaches, but a few mosquitoes and grasshoppers.
-The last 30 insects will be racing around in a mad frenzy
-If you start getting low on energy, go to the elevator in the corner of the
room. It will lead to a recharger.
-The last one is a HUGE cockroach.
-Expect to take about 10-15 minutes on this level.
Mission SP2
Objective: Defeat both bosses
My record - 6:31:55 (A Rank)
Internet Ranking record - 1:34:88
-The lower level has the queen, 3rd level has the beehive.
-There is one charger in the lower level in the corner.
-There are 3 hidden items spots, you start next to one of them. Remember to
take the elevators around.
Mission SP3
Objective: Defeat Combat-san
My record - 1:32:68 (A Rank)
Internet Ranking record - 00:16:88
-She's slightly more resilient than Mission 4-1, otherwise she follows the same
pattern.
-Make sure you pick up the blue lift battery here! It's in the corner of the
room. From where you start, it should be on HoiHoi's right, in the corner
behind her.

5. Shop FAQ
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Going through the shops, each category at a time.
Initially, you won't have a whole lot to choose from in the shop.
Additional items will appear as you buy certain items or through time.
Kimiko is the shopkeeper during certain times of the day, and an older man
will be there on other times of the day. Certain story sequences will NOT
occur unless Kimiko is there.
Your first priority should be battery packs, then HVA system. On the later
levels, you can worry more about weapons.
If you're strapped for cash, replay missions that'll land you the most cash.
1-4 and 2-5 can give you really good money, especially if you can A-rank it.

-WEAPONS-
These are obviously the most important part of the game. What weapons you have
will help you finish a mission quicker and more efficiently. Even though a
weapon may seem weaker, it doesn't always mean it's useless. Some powerful
weapons are crappy on recovery time and for a mission with nothing but a bunch
of roaches, it'll slow you down considerably. Always try mixing and matching
and doing a lot of experimenting. For bosses, having a more powerful weapons
is generally useful. Just remember, you have a battery life, so don't take too
long on missions.
Melee weapons also will help you save money on ammo and some are quite
powerful, so make sure you don't forget about those.

Fifth category: LEAVE.
~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~-~
Note:
Every 2000 yen you spend in ONE TRIP, you will get 1 point towards a free item.
Think of it as a "buy ten, get one free" sort of deal.
After 20 points, you get a free item.
What you get is automatically given to you.
The 2000 yen does NOT accumulate or is shared between visits, you MUST spend
2000, 4000, 6000, 8000, etc. yen in the SAME TRIP to get the points. i.e. if
you spend 1000 yen on ammo on one trip, leave the store, then come back later
and buy 1000 yen more of ammo, you will NOT earn points. Or if you spend 1000
yen one trip, then your second trip you spend 3000 points, you will only earn
1 point. So get ready to spend wisely.
Points, however can be saved up and will be accumulated per every trip.
