Hello. Welcome to my fourth FAQ for GameFAQs. It is for the game Guitar Hero,
a rythm game in which you use a guitar to play the various notes that come
at you. We'll go over that in more detail.
===============================================================================
Playing .:pla02:.
===============================================================================
This has to be the most original controller for a game ever. Alright, there are
five buttons, the green, red, yellow, blue, and orange(G, R, Y, B, O). And
towards the bottom of the controller is the strum bar. You strum every note
with this except if you can pull off or hammer on. We'll cover that in a
second. And finally, there is the whammy bar. While playing, if you hit a long
note move this toward the guitar and back to wiggle the note. If the note has
star power, then you will get more star power. We'll also cover that next.
***********
How to Play
***********
------------------------
Hammer ons and Pull offs
------------------------
Okay, hammer ons are when you strum a note, and then hammer on the next fret
button up (G, R for example) and the note is played. This is kind of hard to
explain, so try the tutorial advanced course. Pull offs are the same thing just
the other way around.
**Note: Not all notes can be hammer oned/pull offed. The notes that don't have
the black circles around the top and bottom can be hammer oned/pulled off.
----------
Star Power
----------
Star power is a life saver. If you are doing Bark at the Moon on expert and
you're deep in the red, tilt the guitar up and the tilt sensor in the guitar
will activate the star power. Also, if you've aced a song and you're not gonna
fail, then use this to rack up some extra points. It works for other songs to,
I was just picking a hard one for example. You get star power by hitting all
of the star notes in a row.
----------
Whammy Bar
----------
If you are playing a long note, then you can use the whammy bar to make the
note wiggle. To do this, you move the bar in towards the guitar. Do it
repeatedly to make more wiggle. If the note contains star power, then using the
whammy bar will extract star power. Also a huge life saver.
-----------------
Difficulty Levels
-----------------
Easy: The beginner mode. You use the yellow, red, and green buttons to play the
songs. Chords are very rare, also. The board moves slowly and gives you
plenty of time to think about what finger to use.
Medium: This picks up a little. You use the green, yellow, red, and blue keys
on the board. Chords are more common now. The board moves a little
quicker now, but slow enough to think. You will be introduced to Hammer
ons and Pull offs. Start learning now, you'll see what I mean...
Hard: This can get difficult. You use all the keys. The board moves pretty fast
making you have to think on your fingers, giving your brain almost no
time to process the notes. You will use a fair amount of chords and the
board moves pretty quickly. You will NEED hammer ons and pull offs if you
wish to survive.
Expert: ...0_0 THIS is HARD!!! You will use all keys. The board moves amazingly
fast. Your fingers will probably fall off after a while. Hammer ons
and pull offs will be everywhere, and you will need to use them to
your advantage. The solos will be agonizing. And chords galore! Be
ready to move your hand and fingers all over the place.
**********
Dual Shock
**********
If you are using a dual shock controller, the controls are: L2 is green,
L1 is red, R1 is yellow, R2 is blue, and X is orange. All you have to do is
press the button to play the note. There are no hammer ons or pull offs, and
the whammy bar for this one is the right analog stick.
1. Use your pinky!
2. Slide your entire hand up and down to play orange notes.
3. Master Hammer-ons/Pull-offs.
4. Use the info in this guide!!!
5. When using hammer ons and pull offs, press your fingers down hard for a more
successful result.
6. Pay attention to the board, not your character.
7. Focus.

Point Cut-Offs .:poi04:.
===============================================================================
These are the scores that you need to get for stars. Use star power and hit as
many notes as you can to have the best chance. These were obtained from Score
Hero.com. The number in the brackets is the star number and the number to the
right of the bracketed number is the amount of points necessary for the stars.

Song Tips .:son05:.
===============================================================================
This section will go over tips for the songs. Instead of just telling you WHAT
you need to do, this will tell you HOW you need to do it. This is for expert;
you shouldn't need help with the other stuff. Follow this for hard to, it will
probably help.
**I Rock an' Roll**
You really shouldn't need help with this song. Single strum the solo.
**I Wanna Be Sedated**
The notes in this and the chords are all simple, but fast. Double strum for the
sake of all pure and holy!!!
**Thunderkiss 65**
This one is easy to. You will need to hammer on and pull off some parts of the
solo. Double strum the beginning fast part.
**Smoke on the Water**
The song itself is incredibly easy, but the last solo and chord section can be
tough. Hammer on and pull off and you shall live.
**Infected**
This is easy until the solo. It is pretty fast, but short. Hammer ons and pull
offs help here.
**Iron Man**
If you have ever listened to music in your life, you have heard this song. And
if you've heard it, you know it's not hard. Single strum mose of the solo, and
the rest is a breeze.
**More than a Feeling**
Possibly the easiest song in the game. The solo is simple if you figure out the
pattern. Strum UP DOWN DOWN is pretty much all there is to it. Spread your
fingers out in the intro verse.
**You got Another Thing Comin'**
The solo is hard. Be ready to move your hands up and down because it goes up
and down the scale quickly.
**Take Me Out**
One of the harder songs. Double strum the entire intro and then most of the
other parts. That will make it easy.
**Sharp Dressed Man**
EASY. The second solo is the only thing that could possibly hurt you. Hammer on
and pull off when ever you can to ease the pain.
**Killer Queen**
Wonderfully simple. You should have not trouble. Double strum the ending.
**Hey You**
EASY. No problems here.
**Stellar**
Use the "More than a Feeling" strategy at the beginning. 'Tis all.
**Heart full of Black**
This can be quick. Double strum when needed.
**Symphony of Destruction**
Yay, MEGADETH!!! And that is exactly what this song will cause during the solo.
Marty Friedman is a truly great guitar player. Anyway, the solo has a very
simple rythm. Down down down, up up up, down down down, etc.
**Ziggy Stardust**
Easy until the solo. The solo is easy to, but part of it moves quickly. I would
pay close attention, or strum at random. =P Your choice.
**Fat Lip**
Easy. When it get's to the chord note thing, hold down the lower note but
realease the higher (ex. GY G GY G GY and hold down G the entire time.)
**Cohise**
Finger stretching galore!! Do lots of it.
**Take it Off**
This one is easy to. Hammer on and pull off the solo's ending.
**Unsung**
Do a lot of double strummong and this will prove one of the easiest songs in
the game.
**Spanish Castle Magic**
This is easy until the solo. Save all your star power fo it.
**Higher Ground**
Double strum the green notes at the start and single the rest. Double strum all
of the fast note combos that will come at you.
**No One Knows**
This is one of the hardest in the game. At the weird part that is like G GB BY
YB B G GG GG GG GG GG GG GG is hard. Strum like this: (S SS SS SS SS SS SS SS)
on that part.
**Ace of Spades**
DOUBLE STRUMMING!!! That is key; do it lots.
**Crossroads**
This has seroius soloing going on. Save all your star power for them, and if
you can live for long enough, save it for the LAST solo.
**Godzilla**
This solo is hard, and it doesn't give you much time to build up your star
power either. Double Strumming is probably best. Good luck.
**Texas Flood**
Save every last bit of star power for the solo; it is long. You will need
serious skills with hammer ons and pull offs here.
**Cowboys from Hell**
WOW. The intro is CRAZY. Double strum. There is a very simple patterm that you
have to find. It is "up down up down up down up down" and so on. Get that and
you will be fine.
**Frankenstein**
Shoo-wee dowgies!!! (Exuse my redneck talk) This is fast. Single strum on every
thing BUT the solo. Then double strum to your hearts content. After the solo,
it calms down. Good luck out there!!
**Bark at the Moon**
The supposed hardest song in the game is one of the easiest if you get the
hang and feel of it. Double strum the green notes in the main riff and the rest
single strum. Now the solo... holy crap. It may look intimidating, but it
is not the hardest of things. Use the Cowboys from Hell strategy. At the end
part where it has more notes than you can see, my only advice is random buttons
star power, and double strumming.

There is a meter with a red side and a blue side. The blue side is the first
player, red is second. The more points you get, the more the little bar will
turn in your favor. Star Power helps a lot.
