Ring Weapons are popular with many in the armed forces. They transform from
rings into weapons by reacting to the inner fighting ability of the one who
wears it. The form the weapon takes is determined by the Ring Master's
ability.
Attaching special power gems to the ring adds special effects and powers not
present in regular weapons. Ring Weapons have been collected and spread
across the world by RIng Merchants. Special knowledge is required to change
the ring's attributes. Ring Shops can also appraise unknown rings abilities.
Adding a Gem to the hollow areas of a Ring Weapon will assign a special
ability or effect to that weapon. Each Gem holds a specific power level. The
amount within each Gem is shown by a level number preceding each name.
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o
| Ring Weapon Effects (Rw003) |
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o
A Ring Weapon generally has two effects:
- Changing Abilities
- Controlling Gem Power
You can judge the effects of a particular ring by its name once you get used
to the system. The parameters next to the ring will provide guidance for the
less-skilled, however.
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o
| Obtaining Ring Weapons (Rw004) |
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o
Occasionally, when there is bloodshed, a new Ring Weapon will emerge.
Therefore, battling is an easy way for a Ring Master to obtain new, more
powerful rings.
Of course, to obtain the strongest rings involves an element of certain danger
to the Ring Master in battle. The stronger the opponent slain, the stronger
the ring that may emerge. However, the risk of death to the Ring Master also
increases proportionally.
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o
| Ring and Gem Advice (Rw005) |
o----------------------------------------------------------------------------o
-- Ring Advice
Rings are useful for fighters, because STR will also affect ATK and DEF stats.
Advanced fighters must balance not only stat increases, but also control value
concerns. Rings with control power of 0 are useless for attaching Gems, and
should only be kept if the stat increases it gives are significant.
Since only 50 rings can be kept at a time, it is therefore prudent to sell
rings that are less powerful than those currently equipped as soon as
possible.
-- Gem Advice
Unlike rings, you should keep as many Gems on hand as possible because each
may affect rings yet to be obtained in interesting and useful ways. There is
no way to be certain what the effects will be until the Gems are matched to
specific rings, so it is useful to have as many Gems as possible on hand at
all times.
Character descriptions can also be found very close by in the instruction
manual, unless of course you rented the game and didn't get one, in which case
the following may benefit you.
----- Slayn Wilder -o
Found in a heap at the base of a cliff and later found to be suffering from
amnesia, Slayn becomes the central mystery to Growlanser III. Who is he? Why
does he have a Ring Weapon? What happened to cause him to lose his memory?
Why does he seem to change personalities? At the start of the journey, there
are only questions.
----- Annette Burns -o
Daughter of the President of the Xironia Federation, Annette has grown into a
beautiful woman. The loss of her mother under questionable circumstances and
her father's demanding work forced her to become strong and resourceful as
well. Her abilities will be put to the ultimate test as everything she knows
and loves is thrown into chaos when war breaks out all around her...
----- Raimy -o
Fairies are heard and not seen by anyone except those with exceptional powers.
Raimy is a dark fairy that is resigned to this until she crosses paths with
Slayn to help a lost soul. The rest, as they say, is history. Raimy decides
to stay with Slayn and her invisibility to most creatures become and
invaluable asset in battle.
----- Hugh Foster -o
Loud and flamboyant with a sense of style all his own, Hugh Foster makes a
quick impression on all her encounters. Unfortunately, it may not be the
impression he is seeking to make. He appears to be a wanderer, but there is
more to his story than is immediately obvious...
----- Monika Allenford -o
Daughter of a Human and Featherian who dared to fall in love, Monika's life
was troubled from the start. She appears human, yet has wings. However, the
wings are not that of a Featherian, but small wings that serve no useful
purpose. She has felt out of place as long as she can remember, and speaks
softly and deliberately, as if her words have no value.
----- Yayoi Tachibana -o
This strange woman from eastern lands is in pursuit of another. Do not let
her deliberate speech and pleasing voice elad you to think that she is weak,
for the very opposite is true. With distance attacks and powerful magics, she
is a force unto herself, and her mysterious relationship with Hugh is probably
an anomaly.
----- Viktor Hugo -o
An engineer and inventor with a strange accent and gruff manner, Viktor is one
of the more unusual characters in the world of Growlanser. Once you get past
his gruff exterior, there is a heart of gold, and his skill and
resourcefulness crafting useful items is not to be underestimated.

----- Starting a New Game -o
When you start a new game the first thing you will be asked is whether you
wish to adjust the game settings. Assuming you do, the following options are
available (press L1 or R1 to cycle between the two menus.)
~* System *~ ~* Battle *~
- Sound Mode - Battle Speech
- Sound Effects - Focus on Action
- Event Speech - Confirm Range
- Background Music - Select Magic Lv
- Cursor Memory - Display Magic
- Vibration - Auto Magic
- Color Windows - Confirm All-Auto
"That area is infested with monsters who wouldn't have given a second thought
to eating you!"
- Where did I collapse?
- Who are you?
- Who am I?
- Where is this?
- ...
"Any information you can remember might help, though. Think hard... can't you
even recall your name?"
Very quickly you'll get control of your character. Obviously the first thing
you'll note is that unlike Growlanser II, in this game you have free movement
to talk around. There's not much to do here so head out the front door.
"We'll soon be under attack by Aggressival troops...you'd best get back
inside."
- Aggressival?
- They will attack?
- I can protect myself!
- I'd rather fight than sleep.
Start attacking the nearest enemy... the battle will be over almost
immediately.
~* End of Battle *~
Watch the opening scene that follows the battle.
Back in the town when you have control again, talk to Renault. Attempt to
climb down the ladder and you'll be interrupted. Speak with the guard and
descend the ladder. At the bottom on your right there is an odd looking pad,
the person beside it will teach you how it works. This pad is a simple save
point, go on it and press X to save your game. Go around and speak with
everyone, usually when you talk to people you'll be able to choose an
appropriate response. Responses have much less bearing in this game than they
did in Growlanser II, they mainly serve as a means to see different outcomes
of a conversation. When you're ready, leave the area.
Go North on the world map until you are automatically brought into an event.
Approach the man and a battle begins, he shouldn't take more than a couple of
hits. If you want the Mission CoOmplete start the battle by charing a magic
spell, so it is ready to cast immediately when the thief enters. Once he's
out of the way attack Randolf until he runs away.
- I won't forgive evil men!
- That was but a taste of my strength!
- Did it...?
- It was no problem!
- You'll die at once!
Speak to the woman after the fight and she'll give you two items, the Thief's
Button and the Small Key Pendant.
- Yeah
- I'm so grateful
- What would have happened to me without you?
- I thought you were an angel that day
- Why do you talk to me like a family pet?
After the scene continue East to be brought back to the world map. You'll
notice a cave to the Northeast, however at this point the cave is locked.
Your destination is the first town you see on your way South.

Explore the town at your leasure. A couple interesting people to note are the
shopkeeper in the first screen, the fortune teller and Renault's wife to the
East. Make sure to hear what everyone has to say. Go to the Northwest area
of town up the stairs and enter the large building.
Your 'party' will split up at this point. Your assignment room is the one at
the bottom of the stairs, but take some time to check the place out.
Annette's room is the top Northwestern one if you want to talk to her. Go
into your room and read all the topics in the report on your desk. When
you've doneall the exploring you wish to do, examine your bed and choose to
rest for the night.
In the morning go up the stairs and enter the room with the large doors.
- Count on me!
- Tes, sir!
- ...if you say so.
- I will guard her with my life!
- Well, I can try, buuut...
After the meeting head downstairs to leave the house and Annette will join up
with you again. Descend the stairs and exit the city.
This would be a good time to start leveling up a bit on the world map. Every
battle should be easily won simply by using auto-battle. There's a chance you
may come across some little animals, or chests. Approach all chests and save
all animals and you'll receive items and other bonuses as rewards. When
battling you may come across a peddler being attacked, if you rescure him and
don't allow any of his birds to be killed he will reward you by selling his
items at discount prices: (Prices are dependent on how many birds were
killed, maximum prices are listed.)

the other soldiers to reach it so they act as decoys while you are trying to
escape. If you managed to get the Fur Coats from the forest merchant this
battle will be a cinch. In order to get Mission Complete her you simply need
to have Slayn and Annette get across the bridge alive. Other allies are going
to be killed and there's nothing you can do about that, do no attack or try to
help them out in any way, just run across the bridge and the Mission Complete
will be yours.

Head to the Southeast corner of town for a scene. Speak to the person there
and then examine where they were standing when they disappear, you'll get
'Letter to Mary' as well as a new party member. Go South to the rest of the
town. You can do some shopping here and talk to everyone. Before talking to
Annette at the gate, check out the East side of town, here you'll find RIng
and Gem shopkeepers as well. If you read the ring documents the shopkeep
provides for you, a Lv2 Blood Blade gem will fall out when you're done. Keep
going East to trigger a scene.
"Oh, nevermind. What reason could there be for the girl not flying?"
- Maybe she's sick?
- She's just exercising her legs?
- Her wings are too small?
- It's none of our business
If you approach the door of the lower house on the right, the woman inside
will offer you a battle timer, not for free unfortunately. She wants you to
bring her a vase from Bibliostock, be sure to keep this in mind. Go to the
lower gate and watch the scene with a man there, and then return to South
Schwartzhaas to speak with Annette.
"Is this woman a friend of your?"
- Yes...
- She's my girlfriend
- Her name is Annette
"She doesn't see Raimy. Remember that!"

- Doesn't that make you lonely?

Explore the town at your leasure. There man in the first house will give you
some quick tips on gem usage, and there are many shops in this town. Upgrade
to some of the Soft Leather the armor shop is selling while you're here. On
the second map of the town examine the shiny object laying in from of the
large hotel doors to receive a Silver Bell. When you attempt to go right
Annette will interrupt you.
"I...I need to change into my formal attire. Why don't we take a room here so
I can do that?"
- Yes
- No
Enter through the large doors of the hotel.
"Yes, do you have two single rooms?"
- One twin room is fine
- One must be the royal sweet
- ...
There is a fortune teller on the right side of the hotel, he can tell you
about yourself and the relationships you have with your characters, though you
only have one at this point. There's a save point at the lower corner, and
pretty much anything else you do will result in being asked to retire to your
room, you can rest for free. When you're ready to move on attempt to leave
the inn.
"Why are you suddenly so quiet? Don't you recognize me?"
- I was stunned by your beauty
- I didn't even recognize you
- You're like another person
- ...I can't see your legs!
- This isn't like you!
- This is scandalous!
Proceed East to the castle gate. When the conversation ends you'll be
reminded of your other task. Mary is the girl standing outside the first
house, the one you got a gem tutorial from. After reading the letter yourself
she'll give you the 'Letter of the New World.' Return to the hotel and a
confrontation occurs outside the doors, when it is resolved stay the night
inside the hotel which triggers yet another scene.
"You were crying out in your sleep. Raimy was worried! Are you all right?"
- I'm fine, thank you Raimy
- Thank you for waking me
- W...why are you...?
"Whew! Raimy is so relieved! Raimy thought you were having a terrible
nightmare!"
- But really, why are you back?"
- Did you forget something?
- So, you missed me?
"Please?"
- Out of the question
- It's no problem
In the morning you'll meet up with Annette again. Talk to her and then show
her the 'Letter of the New World' by selecting it from your inventory. Now
it's time to leave the city, return to the main gate and exit to the North.
Return to Schwartzhaas, the Southeast exit in East Schwartzhaas is no open,
take it to exit the town in a different area of the world map.

The first thing you should do after entering this town is knock on the door of
the house on your right. A man will tell you he lost his Silver Bell, which
just so happens to be the same one you found on the step of the hotel, so give
it to him and in exchange he rewards you with a 'China Vase.' If you
remember, a vase from Bibliostock was what you needed in order to get the
battle timer from the woman in Schwartzhaas, to go back there and give it to
her in exchange for the Battle Timer.
You can check out the Imperial Library to the Northwest, but you can't enter
at the moment. Go North to the large gate and you'll interrupt a bit of an
argument. Talk to the man in green once you have control again, and then the
man at the gate. When you try and walk away you'll be interrupted.
"Slayn, it's up to you. What do you think?"
- Let him join
- Are you kidding?
If you have problems getting him to say this, try returning to the first map
and speaking to the cloaked man in the Northern area, then return and speak to
the man in green again, followed by the gate guard.
Talk to the man walking around the lower part of this area, he'll sell you an
'Art Kit' for 50 Elm. Now that you have the art kit a man is standing on the
dock in the first area of town, but at this point he doesn't do anything in
particular. That's about all there is to do here, leave town and continue
your trek South. The next town you come to is Bornia Village among a forested
area.
If you get into a battle on the field in this area and save a merchant, there
are two possible contingencies for wares (I believe the Lv3 equipment can be
found further South.)

it, then use Wind Blade to pick off the mages. If you kill the mages first
you'll save yourself a lot of time because they will keep healing the other
enemies. After that pick off the ones at the sides that have the highest
chance of escaping. Part way through the battle another person will show up
to help you fight, from the upper right side, this person will take care of
the boss so don't even try to attack him yourself. Focus on the weaker
enemies and you should be able to get the Mission Complete.

Head North and meet up with some of the people from the village, you'll
receive a Leather Suit. Go North to the next section of town. The far East
house is Monika's house, go there and talk to her. No matter which of the
first three choices you make she will ask to assist you and you'll have
yourself a new party member.

When you enter you'll find a number of ghosts. Walk around the cave and speak
to each and every one of them. Now go back and talk to Annette. When your
party is back together leave through the North door in the second large room.
Note that the dungeon is actually on a diagonal. When I say East I mean
Northeast, South means Southeast, West means Southwest and North means
Northwest. The same applies to the map, and to all other similar dungeons.
It makes sense, and shouldn't be hard to get used to.

If you wish to see a scene, stay at the inn and something will occur during
the night. You can split up your party and explore the town, but you won't
find very much in particular. The shopkeeper is still willing to sell to you
though. (Note he will only appear if you agree to split up and explore.)
Leave the town to the North and head to the mine. (Optional)

The mine is optional, and there really isn't much to do there besides level
up. it consists of five, four panel floors going down. These floors are
randomly generated but it's never hard to find the next set of stairs down.
The areas are usually populated with monsters. At the very bottom you'll find
a save point and a large open area. On the far right side of this area you'll
find a treasure chest with a Fire Scroll inside. That is all there is to do
here, return now to Tzaitstein.
Leave the area and you'll once again be on the world map. Start by going West
and entering the first structure you come to. Speak with the small child in
front of the main door and she'll give you a 'Beautiful Shell.' Now go East
to the other opposite structure. Talk to the man in green to learn a little
about rings, as well as being able to make some purchases.

You can visit the other two generators to the South and Southwest, but neither
has anything in particular interesting going on. Make your way to the large
tower in the centre. After a brief scene save your game on the pad. You can
go into the transporting device to the left of the save pad and speak to
people, following that get into the one the Featerian man went into when you
were interrupted, just down and left of the save point.

- Control Tower Guard (Lv6) - Control Tower Guard (Lv6)
I don't know whose idea it was to make it so you automatically attack enemies
if they're close to you,but it definetely gets in the way here. Fortunately
it doesn't take long to get from the save point back to the battle again,
because you may have to retry a few times. In order to get the Mission
Complete in this battle you must not kill ANY Control Tower Guards. At the
beginning of the battle this is a somewhat challenging task since like I said
you may accidentally attack them even if you are not targeting them. To be
safe use the MOV command to walk past them at the side and reach the two
armored soldiers, these are your only two enemies this battle. Within seconds
the Mysterious Woman will escape and once again the Control Tower Guards will
be on your side again, but that brings up the problem that they often die in
one hit from the enemy. I recommend having one person cast attack up, and
then switch to attack magic. Have your other three characters move in for
melee attacks against the soldiers, and once their life gets low use the magic
you've been charging, or the help from the Control Tower Guards to pick them
off. Doing so will net you the Mission Complete.
~* End of Battle *~
Go up and use the Transfer Gate pad. Save your game and head to the Control
Tower using the other device, and speak to the queen. You'll receive a Start
Pendant. Return to the transfer gate that originally brought you to the
island. A scene occurs when you reach it.
- Are you all right?
- What was that about?
- ...
Take the transfer gate back to Rolandia. The mine that you may have visited
earlier to level up is now your primary destination.

Climb down the five randomly generated floors. This should be nothing new if
you visited here earlier. At the bottom there is a save point and a large
room with a chest on the right side containing a Fire Scroll. If you go to
the very Northeast corner and step onto the mysterious mineral deposit, and
examine it you will receive 'Time Crystal Ore.' When you try to escape
something is stopping you...
- We won't give up!
- Zion?
- Your sense of style is undeniable!
- Your defeat is all but assured!
- Why won't you leave us alone?
~* Mine *~
Completion Conditions: Game Over Conditions:
- All Escape - Party Member Destroyed
- Enemy Destroyed
Your goal in this mission is to run away, the boss is far to powerful to
defeat. If you wish to get the Mission Complete, then you must kill all the
enemies before escaping. Begin the battle by charging attack magic with
everyone who can, kill the Monk first, followed by the other spellcasters.
From there move South and manually attack the two Soldiers you pass. Use the
fact that the mine has all sorts of path branches to escape past the boss
without him being able to detect you. I recommend the path just one over to
the right of where he starts. While you're moving he'll most likely dish out
some weak attack magic and maybe some stat lowering spells, but assuming you
have a decent amount of HP you'll be able to come through unscathed with the
Mission Complete.
~* End of Battle *~
Leave the area and save your game. Now it's time to exit from the mines and
return all the way back to the Control Tower on Featheria Isle. Speak with
the Engineer then open up your menu and choose the Time Crystal Ore. When
you're brought to the area with all the people, be sure to go to the lower
left corner and talk to Mary, she'll give you the Secret Injury Elixyr. When
you're ready to go, head to the upper corner and take the trasport pad. After
the following scene leave the Control Room and head to Generator No.3. Number
three is the Southeast one.
To get a Mission Complete on this fight you must defeat all the enemies
without losing any party members, or the generator itself. The generator will
be perfectly safe as long as the boss doesn't get anywhere near it, so go
after him first. He has approximately 300 HP. Once he's dead use all your
characters to simply move around the map picking off all the remaining
enemies, once they're out of the way you will receive a Mission Complete for
this battle. When you defeat Zion you can speak with him before continuing
with the fight...
- Are you all right?
- Who are you?
- What is your purpose?
- You disgust me!
- You should have died!
~* End of Battle *~
"Whadda say, Slayn? You don't wanna leave a girl to walk alove in the wilds,
right?"
- Of course not!
- I'd be happy to have her join us!
- Sure, it is on the way
- I don't really want her to
- I'm tired of babysitting!
With your party back together again it's time to return to the world map.
Walk to the Transfer Gate and take it back to Rolandia. Backtrack through the
cave leading once again towards Bornia Village.

Completion Conditions: Game Over Conditions:
- Defeat Randolf - Viktor Destroyed
- Party Destroyed
Enemies:
This battle pits you against Randolf and a bunch of his lackeys. Fortunately
for you, you don't actually have to kill Randolf here. Start the battle by
focusing everyone on a single enemy and hitting him as hard as you can, if
anyone has the Dash tech you'll need to use it on them. Pump your attack with
spells, don't worry about defense and then turn your magic caster into a full
time healer. If you want the Mission Complete you must fight this battle as
quickly as possible. The fight will be interrupted by someone, and then
you'll have two turns before he eliminates Randolf himself. Once this occurs
another person will join the fight to help you clean up, if he kills ANY of
the enemies you will not get the Mission Complete, you must do it all yourself
which is why Dash is so helpful. Speed is a very important characteristic to
have for the fight.
~* End of Battle *~
Head over and speak with Monika.
- Cheer up
- We're with you
- You can build a new one!
Gather you party and go to speak with the two who helped you.
- Piece of cake
- No problem
- Don't mention it!
- I did it for Monika
- It was such a pain
- What can I say? I like battles
Before leaving town you can visit Michelle again. It is possible to give her
the Beutiful Shell you got from Featheria Isle if you wish. When you try to
leave she'll interrupt you.
"Um...I don't mean to cause alarm, but were you aware that there's a small
fairy flying next to you?"
- I know
- Really? I had no idea
- You can see her?!
As you walk through the town, you'll be stopped by a girl in the Southern area
of town. After some conversing you need to go and meet her in the inn. The
inn is located on the left side of North Schwartzhaas. Go there and you'll
find her waiting beside the desk. Speak to her and watch the scene.
"Hey there...do...do you remember what just happened?"
- Yes
- No
"Why? Yayoi, you don't know everything!"
- Sorry...
- I know that
- Yeah, thanks a lot
- Wonderful
- Leave me alone
Return to the front lobby of the inn and save your game. Be sure you have
fully prepared and made all purchases that you want from this town, when you
are ready to go talk to the guards at the North end. They won't let you back
in once you've gone. Walk North to Voltone City.

- Research and Development
For a fee, Viktor Hugo may be able to create a number of items not available
in shops. The number of possible items increases as his knowledge grows. To
request a special item, one must first be selected from a list. Once
selected, Viktor will explain the item's function. Once the development costs
are paid, Viktor will go to work crafting the item at once. Development is
not quick, however, so a return trip to gather an item will be required.
Also, it bears mentioning that when Viktor is away from the lab, development
of items in process stops.

Check out the investigation agency afterward, speak with the man at the desk.
You can talk to Rudgker to file some special information requests. The ones
available at this time are:
Assassin named Randolf.... 50 Elm
Assassin named Gray....... 80 Elm
You might as well put in both requests since they're so cheap. Once you're
satisfied with all you've checked out, return to your room and rest.
Note: Based on splitting up your party and speaking with them over the course
of the game, you can build relationships with your party members. At some
point you will get the ability to look into Monika's dad at the detective
agency, this will be the start of a small sidequest with Monika that is not
covered in the main walkthrough. Check out the FAQ/Tips section for a quick
overview on how it is played out.
In the morning, leave the house and go back to the mansion, since an obnoxious
old man is blocking the way you're forced to go trigger a scene at the
entrance. Go up the stairs and enter the house. Everyone is waiting in the
large room upstairs.
- Accept the assignment
- Refuse the assignment
Choose to accept the assignment. Leave the town and save your game on the
world map. Return ot the very first little town you started the game in, tow
the West. There's a man standing beside the ladder with a frustration bubble
over his head, when you talk to him he'll teach you about "Cooperation Magic"
is you agree to let him use your lab. Talk to the Corps Chief on the left
side of the area. When he lets you through, proceed West. As you do you'll
automatically be brought into an area...
Don't let the low enemy count fool you, there are actually infinite enemies on
this map. Killing enemies will only make more come out the front door. Your
goal is to move one of your characters to the fence on the left side of the
door, approaching it will automatically cause you to start a fire. Once the
fire is started run everyone safely back to the top of the map. Personally I
killed about 20-30 enemies before I realized they weren't going to stop
coming, in order to get Mission Complete however, setting the walls ablaze and
killing the default four enemies should suffice.

This is another dungeon where the floors are randomly generated. They are 3x3
rather than 2x2 this time, but only go up to the fourth floor. On the fourth
floor you'll find a save pad and a boss in the next room.
There's a few preparations you should make before this battle. First of all I
recommend buying a few Lv5 Logical Blade gems from the gem dealer in
Falkenfreuk, equip them on your melee fighters. Second of all you'll notice
you actually have to manually walk up to the boss to initiate the battle,
before you do go to your menu and cast full Attack Up, Shield, Resistance and
other such spells. Go into battle and use these bonuses to absolutely destroy
the boss. The majority of the damage in this battle will come surprisingly
from the Evil Mages on the sides, your healer will have to focus on keeping
your HP up to survive the 50+ damage your party will take every turn from
Fireball. When the boss is destroyed split your party and eliminate the
mages. This triggers the two doors in the back to open up and new enemies
appear. At this point after defeating such powerful enemies the thought of
more fighting isn't too appealing but worry not, the first thing these new
enemies will do is attack each other (makes sense if you read the message on
the wall.) Allow one team to kill the other before proceeding to clean up the
leftovers. Even allowing the enemies to kill each other as long as your party
remains in tact at the end of the fight you'll be rewarded with a Mission
Complete.
~* End of Battle *~
For defeating all the enemies you receive the 'Star Emblem.' Raid the two
rooms' treasures to receive a 'Spirit Scroll' and a 'Lv6 Magic Might'. Use
the Star Emblem on the wall outside the room with the boy, once he's rescued
grab the remaining chest to receive a 'Wind Scroll'. Leave the tower now and
return to Taoberia Village.

During the night a scene will trigger, the next morning save your game and
stock up on any equipment or items you may need. Return to the castle at
Falkenfreuk and speak with the men at the gate. With everything now out of
the way you need to return to Swhwartzhaas.
"From here forward we'll have to move quickly. Are you ready?"
- Yes
- No
Talk to the guards and tell them you are ready to enter the town. The house
on your left, the middle of the three is Kenneth's house, take a moment to
visit there. There isn't really anything new to do in this town so make your
way to the garbage heap, it's the one right beside the spot where you met
Raimy. Select that you're ready and get ready to climb over.

You may notice the enemy list above is a little more than what you see in
front of your eyes, will I assure you it is not innaccurate, every turn begins
with about 2-3 more enemies showing up. This battle will take quite awhile
because something is always happening. Your goal is to escape over the end of
the bridge but it is made hard with all the magic being cast and enemies in
your way. Two soldiers will appear on the other side of the bridge and they
will certainly be your biggest obstacles. Use Dash on whoever has it and get
them far ahead, about halfway across the bridge stop them and let them wait.
Have them charge cure magic if they have it, or support magic if not. In
order to get the Mission Complete all characters must survive, you are also
able to kill some enemies without penalty so eliminate the two soldiers who
are in your way on the bridge. There's no much you can do about all the magic
being cast, but as long as you remain moving at a steady pace you can make it
to the end without ever having your HP reduced to critical levels.

This is yet another randomly generated dungeon going downward. Floors B1, B2
and B3 are 3x3 floors populated with enemies, floor B4 has no enemies and a
save pad on it, while the bottom floor has just a boss fight.
This is a fairly interesting battle, obviously you'll note a bunch of normal
enemies, but apart from them there are four big death machines. It's
important to understand though that these things' attacks are only based on
straight lines so they can only attack what is directly in front of them, but
they do have the ability to move up and down the edge. Your main goal to
reduce the damage from their attack is to make sure to characters are standing
parallel anywhere on the field so only one can be attacked at a time. The
best course of action would be to begin by casting all your stat boosting
magic BEFORE descending the stirs to this battle, it will still remain in
effect. Send each of your characters to attack a specific enemy, use your
magic caster to kill the Spectre. Once the normal enemies are defeated have
one character attack each Snail Golem individually, that way you reduce the
time it takes since you don't need to move from enemy to enemy, they should
all end up dying at the same time. I recommend maybe only attacking 3 or the
4 so that one of your characters can remain a healer. As long as no one in
your party dies, a Mission Complete will result just from defeating all the
enemies.
~* End of Battle *~
Once the battle is over gather your party and open the two chests at the top
to receive a 'Message Stone' and 'Lv6 Art of Thievery.' Now with the Message
Stone in your hands, return to Voltone.
Back in Voltone approach Viktor in his lab and use the Message Stone while
standing right beside him. Return to your room and rest, then save. In the
morning go back to Viktor's lab.
- Take the Device
- Refuse the Device
You'll receive a 'Communicator' here. Outside the lab at the lower right area
of your base you'll notice the arena is now open for participation, you can
try it if you wish. Your destination is the Federation Lookout where you
started the game. Speak to the chief and exit West, along the way you'll be
bought to a small field area. Check your inventory and select the
Communicator when you hear a noise.

- Lead Soldier (Lv21) - Lead Soldier (Lv21)

- Soldier (Lv23)
You'll have to walk down to trigger the battle itself, use this time to cast
Attack Up, Cycle Up and all the other spells on all your characters. When the
battle begins split up and have everyone take an enemy, the magic casters in
particular because the only danger to the birds in the entire battle is the
Fireball spell. Have a dedicated healer the whole time, you'll need it
because the birds can't take too much damage with being killed. The more
animals and people who show up the better actually, because it will be more
likely the enemy will spread out their damage rather than single targeting the
same ally more than once. A Mission Complete on this battle relies on your
being able to defeat all the enemies, which I actually find to be much easier
than keeping your team alive long enough to escape, especially with your stats
boosted so much.
~* End of Battle *~
With all the enemies out of the way you can just stand idly by while the
transport moves through freely. In fact if you stand around too long you risk
having the reinforcements arrive so get out of there and save on the world

This fight looks quite daunting at first but dont' worry too much. There are
ten corpses and they start quite far away from from you, so the Dash tech and
magic spells will be overall the most effective things to have in this battle.
Before running into the fight itself, as usual, take the time to cast some
support magic on yourself. Send a couple people up to help fight of the
soldiers, and let the rest of your team charge fire magic to use on the armor.
Part way through the fight someone else will show up and start casting magic
on you, simply ignore her for the duration of the battle, after some time
she'll get frustrated and run off. Also don't bother trying to heal the
soldiers at the gate. This brings up the conditions for a Mission Complete,
you must keep all the villagers alive. This means if you're going for a
Mission Complete, all the ally soldiers starting at the gate can be killed off
without worry, you can let the boss run away as well. When three more people
appear to help you out, you can allow them to kill the enemies and still end
up with a Mission Complete, so the requirements are pretty generous here.

Completion Conditions: Game Over Conditions:
- Enemies Destroyed - Viktor Destroyed
- Yayoi Destroyed
Enemies: - Party Destroyed
This will be by far you most diffucult battle up to this point. The Mission
Complete requirements make it extremely diffucult. In order to get Mission
Complete you must kill the boss before she escapes, and then every other enemy
on the field without losing a single party member, ally or civilian. If you
have previously attempted this battle you may have found that the boss runs
away too quickly. It is important to note however that her running away does
not have anything to do with battle time, but actually with how many enemies
you've killed. Once four enemies are dead she will run away, so your main
goal is actually to focus only on the boss to start. You won't have much
choice but to kill the two enemies on the stairs, and your other problem is
that Yayoi will attack contantly and hinder your ability to defeat the boss.
On the world map before entering the tow cast Attack Up on everyone but NOT on
Yayoi to delay her from killing enemies faster, you'll also need lots of Cycle
Up to get to the boss fast enough. Use the Dash tech and equip Quickness gems
and Logical Blade gems to maximize speed and damage. Once the boss is dead
(she'll run away when you kill her, but you need to do it this way for the
Mission Complete) then you can focus on everyone else. The three allies near
the mansion will die fast to continue to heal them until your team is able to
dispatch of the two soldiers up top. The townspeople shouldn't be in too much
danger as long as you heal them whenever they're hit by an archer, there's
ample time to make sure everyone stays alive as long as you balance your
attacking and healing.
~* End of Battle *~
Head back to your room and rest/save. Note that in your gem shop Level 5 gems
are now available, and the armory has been updated. Go into your room and
rest for the night. Dismiss your party and talk to the off-sheet info guy and
you can request a new report. Once you've fully prepared, gather your party
and leave town. Head South to Schwartzhaas.
Run down and make your way to the East section of town.

- Archer (Lv24) - Archer (Lv24)
- Archer (Lv24) - Lead Soldier (Lv30)
- Lead Soldier (Lv30)
The most frustrating part about this battle for me was the close proximity of
all your characters at the start, I must have wasted two turns while my
characters were running in circles. The battle itself is not too hard as long
as you take Yayoi's advice at the start and cast all your support magic, The
archers are weak and your allies can take quite a few hits, the entire
battle's diffuculty is based on the two lead soldiers at the bottom who only
cast Lv3 Quake magic, a spell which devastates your entire party. Do whatever
you can to eliminate these enemies whether it me magic, or either Yayoi's or
Viktor's long ranged attacks. Part way through the battle three new enemies
will appear and call for a retreat, if you want the Mission Complete you must
not allow anyone to escape (this however does fortunately exclude the three
new enemies who will escape a split second after speaking.)
~* End of Battle *~
- Don't mention it
- Your operation was impressive
- We just had good luck
When the battle ends leave Shwartzhaas and head for Bibliostock which if you
remember from before should be the first town you hit when traveling East.
I recommend making a quick stop at Bornia Village to the South, you can rest
at the inn and also give Michelle the Star Sand you found on the beach.
Before the fight you'll have to position your characters, spread them out
behind the buildings without being scene so that when the battle starts you'll
be in different areas ready to have individual characters go for individual
enemies. When each person moves they'll have to manually cast their own
support magic since it's a one person party, it makes support magic hard to
prepare for this battle. When ready have someone enter an enemy's line of
sight.

There's only six enemies here so the battle itself is a piece of cake. In the
battle send a few people up the middle, you need to eliminate the Lead
Soldiers because when the Commander calls for an escape they'll be the ones
most likely to get away, however fortunately for you they are quite far from
an exits in their starting position so it gives a character with Dash lots of
leeway to catch up with them and net you the Mission Complete.
~* End of Battle *~
You won't be able to leave town, there's not enough time, but fortunately
there sems to be just enough time to stay overnight at the inn as many times
as you wish, go there and save your game. Proceed to the library.

When you first enter the library you can check out all sorts of books on the
shelves. Go up to the second level of 2F and read the book on the North shelf
entitled "Skething for dummies." On the next floor a scene occurs and Yayoi
will give you an Elixyr. Continue to the next floor. This area is another
randomly generated dungeon crawling with enemies. Navigate through each of
these floors until you reach the top at 7F and save your game. Go into the
room and follow Viktor to the door. The book you're looking for is one down
from the very North corner of the room. Once you've read it you also have the
oppurtunity to choose and read three more books here. It is important to note
that the books you choose will not be set in stone, meaning while you will not
be able to read them all at this point, eventually later in the game you can
return and read them all. I recommend:
- Advanced Magic for Eggheads
- Creating a Homunculus
- Fox Tribe Language Dictionary
- The Art and Science of Time Bombs
But keep in mind it isn't a matter of choosing the most important ones, it's
just a matter of picking between all of them which at this point in the game
are equally unimportant (except the magic one.) What is very important
however is to determine which book will be the last one you read, and to cast
all your support magic before reading it since a battle will begin immediately
afterward. I also recommend reading "The Art and Science of Time Bombs" as
your last one.

Completion Conditions: Game Over Conditions:
- Party Escapes - Party Member Left in Room
- Enemy Destroyed - Party Member Caught in Door
- Party Destroyed
Enemies:
If you want the Mission Complete here you're going to have to destroy all the
enemies, which is easier said than done. Take three of your four party
members and attack one Gargoyle each, with your fourth (preferably your magic
caster) have him.her walk over and step on the gate device. Now start
charging heal/support spells. Immediately send everyone out and begin picking
off the Evil Mages (but don't attack until you're through the door otherwise
your party won't be able to get past you, try using the MOV command to get out
before actually choosing to attack.) The mages must die as a priority, their
spells will really drain you, once all the mages are gone you can relax a bit,
heal your party and have Viktor and Yayoi snipe some of the enemies over the
edge of the walkway. Wait from the rest of the enemies to come to you and
take them out as they arrive, but by this point you shoulnd't need any real
strategy, it's the mages that will drain you if anything. Also one thing to
watch out for is the trap damage floor, that red stuff appearing at the top
will deal 10 damage per round to anyone standing on it, be sure one of the
characters that goes through the door stands on the alternate switch so you
can get your magic caster out of the room to safety. Again, a Mission
Complete results simply from defeating all enemies.
~* End of Battle *~
Even after the battle is over the damage floor remains so get out of there
quickly and save your game. Leave the tower and you'll automatically be
brought into an event. After the scene you'll receive 'Letter to the

When fighting this battle don't even bother to attack Barbara, she's just
going to retreat soon. A Mission Complete on this map has nothing to do with
Barbara, she'll run no matter how hard you hit. Instead you need to kill all
the enemies while staying alive yourself, this remains very easy until the new
enemies appear along with Zion. In fact at this point it still remains very
easy, the hard part of this battle is that Zion hits not only very hard, but
very FAST. With everyone using Cycle Up it is not uncommon to still see him
get two turns in a row, the second the new enemies appear target both Yayoi
and Viktor towards Zion and don't let them do anything else, the other enemies
just don't come close in terms of damage potential. Using magic or items to
heal and have the rest of your pary support and melle attack to protect your

hands.

Approach Viktor and speak with him, he'll tell you the three reactions are:
Check the books at the top of the ladder on the left side:

Reagent (2) Reaction Chart:

- Negative: B, C, E
Reagent (3) Reaction Chart:

When you go back and speak to him he'll ask which component is in liquid, the
answer is Component C. Go around and examine all the books.
"Hmm? You have book?"
- Mataliel
- Ultimate Water
- Gasilieta
I chose "Ultimate Water" here, he tells you to go examine the books again.
When you go back and talk to him he seems to be happy and tells you to leave.
Step into the transfer gate on the right side and use the 'Central Gate
Parts.' You'll still need a Master Key to get it working though. Now that
you're alone head over to the FIB, you can check info on the Central Gate if
you requested it earlier. A new option is now available however for 500 Elm,
the option to set up Randolf. Choose it. There should be some new info at
the main desk as well. Make your way to Annette's mansion at the other end of
town. Here you'll receive the 'Letter to Sir Granford.' Choose one of the
three remaining people as your fourth party member, personally I chose Viktor.
Leave the town and go South to Schwartzhaas. As you pass through the town
you'll see a scene involving Hugh. Go South out of the city and walk West,
then North back to the lookout point where you started the game, assuming
you've done everything right a scene should occur when you arrive involving
the castle in Falkenfreuk. Now proceed to Bibliostock.
Near the inn you'll find a cloaked man outside, talk to him and agree to his
offer, then stay overnight at the inn.
- For his benefit
- He wanted to quit
- That's not my fault!
- Uh, sorry?
After the scene, Hugh will learn Teleport. Go to the North end of town and
talk to the man standing at the gate.
"So destroying these gates..."
- ...will result in wandering dead
- ...will cause the dead to stream forth
- ...will keep spirits from the underworld
- ...will do what?
Following everything here you receive the 'Master Gate Key.' If you'll
remember this is exactly what you need to fix the Transfer Gate in Viktor's
lab to head there now and examine it. Use this gate to transport yourself to
Taoberia. If you have Viktor in your party talk to the woman standing beside
the tree. Talk to the panicking kid wandering in the streets. Once you've
spoken to the kid return to Annette's house in Voltone and head to her
mother's room. You must have spoken with her enough while staying at Voltone

Be sure you cast all your supportive magic beforehand so that it's all in
effect when you get seen. I recommend making a little base in an open area of
one of the paths so that you can have a straight shot down each branch,
dedicate a melee attacker or two to move down the paths to the end and pick
off the enemies that are out of range. Part way through the battle four new
enemies will appear from the East exit where you came in, if you've set
yourself up in the middle you should be able to use either Yayoi or Viktor (or
both) to eliminate them. A Time Bomb will be set up but the counter gives you
far more turns than you should need as long as you spread out your troops
equally, the hostages themselves shouldn't be in any danger.
~* End of Battle *~
After the battle the counter is still going down which doesn't exactly make
your job easy, run to the Southeast corner and open the chest to receive a
'Neural Scroll.' Below it shining on the table is the 'Jail Cell Key.' Run
back up to the Northwest and open the jail cell to let the people out, be sure
you escape with them before the bomb went off. Go back and save your game,
run back out of the dungeon or use the Return magic to get back to the
entrance. Go South and enter the port of Delfinia, talk to the soldiers and
continue South into the town.

Cast your magic before entering the town, you're going to be starting quite a
ways away from the majority of enemies. If you're proficient at using magic
this will be a far easier battle. Note that the mage on the roof can only be
targeted with magic. You will need your best ranged attackers and healers to
eliminate those two persistent soldiers near the lighthouse guards, otherwise
their attacks will eventually overwhelm them. The Dash tect can make or break
your victory here. Soon enough two new enemies including a boss will appear
right where you started and begin closing in on anyone who has sought safety
there, during the fight make sure you move your characters progressively down
the field to avoid having them killed unexpectedly. In order to get the
Mission Complete you must keep all the guards alive which becomes pretty
challenging as the battle goes on, I chose to use the Elixyr from earlier in
the game at this point, often items like this end up stuck in your inventory
unused and it helps keep your party alive while you focus on healing the
guards (who will not be healed by the Elixyr.)
~* End of Battle *~
Approach the Transfer Gate and examine it with Viktor to get it working again.
Leave the town and save your game, then return to the city. Talk to the old
woman and she'll give you 3500 Elm. Go South and talk to the girl standing on
the corner, she'll give you a Dandy Book. While standing on this corner go
into your inventory and select the Art Kit, use it to paint a picture of the
Lighthouse to receive 'Lighthouse Painting.' Go talk to the old man standing
at the Southern house to receive a Mirage Gauntlet. Go talk to the large man
in the middle of town and tell him to go open an item shop in your base. Go
into the lighthouse to the West and use the Transfer Gate. From the gate
leave the area and go Northeast on the world map, following the path until it
leads you around to the entrance of the mountain.

When you enter you'll meet up with some people in the area, watch the scene
and listen to what they have to say.
"If only we knew Zion's ultimate plan..."
- He's trying to get 50,000 souls!
- He's collecting sould to become uber-powerful
- Ummm...not too sure. Viktor, you got anything?
- I couln't tell ya
Head down and talk to one of the cloaked people below you, you'll receive a
new assignment as well as a 'Dark Crystal Shard.' Be sure to activate the
Transfer Gate down the path to the Southeast. You can rest here for free if
you wish. With nothing else to do, take the Transfer Gate back to the
Federation. Walk from here to Bibliostock, fix the Transfer Gate, then
approach the North gate and speak with the man to trigger a scene.
- Piece of cake
- Don't mention it
- We could have avoided the battle
- I wanted to fight!
- Kudos to me. Next?
- ...
The Imperial Library lower floors are now open if you wish to investigate
them. The first floor has a book to teach Viktor the Practical Excavation
skill. Leave Bibliostock, if you've got the Lighthouse Painting go South to
Bornia Village and show it to Michelle. Afterwards return to the outskirts of
Bibliostock and walk East to reach your next destination.

I'd say this battle would be a challenge if the requirement were to defeat 25
enemies within the time limit, but as is the case, it is not. As long as you
adequately setup your characters you can completely obliterate this battle,
here's what I recommend. Equip one characters with a bunch of Magic Mights
and Magic Lvs, this person will be your healer. Equip everyone else with Lv7
Epiphany, Lv7 Arms Might and Lv6 Blood Blade, they'll deal 2.3x damage and
have no reprecussions with this setup. Send everyone out in the open and
begin picking off the enemies preferably with ranged attackers, whoever has
your magic gems should be charging Lv9 Cure/Healing so they can spread it out
over the battlefield and make sure all your allies remain healthy. The one
problem I found was that near the end of the battle, the ally soldiers made a
mad dash for the North end of the map and were swarmed by enemies, I was able
to keep them alive via healing items, but I recommend either clearing this
area, or forming a human wall for the sake of their own protection. As long
as none of them die and you kill more than 15 enemies, the Mission Complete is
yours.
~* End of Battle *~
Once the battle is over, go back to the world map and save, then head to the
North end of the East checkpoint for a scene with someone familiar. Leave
here and take a Transfer Gate back to the Dark Mountain Shrine. Speak with
the Chief Spirit Master wandering around.
- Well done!
- You finally found a clue!
- Tell me...right now!
- Are you saying you're better than me?
Following the conversation with the chief, return to Bibliostock and talk to
the guy at the gate again to bring your party to see Sir Granford.
"Slayn, do you have any idea why that was the case?"
- It's her secret ability
- She was using a magic item!
- I have no idea.
Try choosing either the tip or bottom options for this one, both will loop you
forever, the second is the correct choice.
"Hmmm, a magic item? What kind of item has that power?"
- A Dark Crystal
- A Space-Time Crystal
- A Water Crystal
Again, same deal applies here.
"I am honoured that I have gained your trust, but I believe we should only
watch the situation for now."
- Agee with the General
- Disagree and send troops
And now it's time once again to take a trip South to Bornia.
There's an optional event available beforehand however if you return to
Voltone.

Return here and dismiss your party. Assuming you've completed the necessary
conditions and send the FIB to set up Randolf, save your game and sleep in
your bed. During the night you'll get a visit from Tony, afterwards you
receive the 'Keepsake Ring.'
~* Randolf *~
Completion Conditions: Game Over Conditions:
- Defeat Randolf - Slayn Defeated
Enemies:
- Assassin (Lv39)
This battle is very simple as long as you can find a ring with some high level
slots, it doesn't really matter what the stats are. Equip one Lv7 Epiphany
and two Lv6 Blood Blades on it to give you 200% damage and 20% of that damage
going to your HP total. Randolf has about 500 HP so it won't take long to
knock him down, the only cheap thing is that he has the ability to petrify
you, so if you want to you can substitue one of the Blood Blades for a status
prevention gem, but you shouldn't have to.
~* End of Battle *~
Upon return gather your party and use the Transfer Gate to warp to Taoberia.
Tony's sister is the girl wandering around in front of the inn, show her the
Keepsake Ring and you'll receive a Lv9 Rainbow's End for your efforts.
Now off to Bornia Village.
----------------\
Bornia Village |----------------------------------------------------(3g02A)-o

When you enter the village you'l need to set yourself a good position for the
inevitable battle.
~* Bornia Village *~
Completion Conditions: Game Over Conditions:
- Party Reaches Top of Map - Three or more Destroyed
- Enemy Destroyed
Enemies:
- Heavy Soldier (Lv35) - Soldier (Lv32)
- Lead Soldier (Lv24) - Lead Soldier (Lv24)
- Archer (Lv27)
Unless there's some special challenge I don't know about, this is quite
possibly the easiest battle ever. There are five normal enemies to defeat.
Use Dash with two of your melee characters and send one each toward the
magicians, have the other two characters mop up the three that are in the
open, and the Mission Complete is in the bag.
~* End of Battle *~
Go North to the next section of town.
~* Bornia Village *~
Completion Conditions: Game Over Conditions:

- Party Destroyed
Enemies:
- Commander (Lv36) - Soldier (Lv32)
- Heavy Soldier (Lv35) - Heavy Soldier (Lv35)
- Priest Soldier (Lv31) - Mysterious Man (Lv41)
Considering this battle is only slightly harder than the other one you'll
still want to prepare your characters with support magic whether before or
during the fight. Kill all the enemies before they have a chance to harm any
civilians, but when you do a boss will show up, this boss has the ability to
deal up to 200 damage to an unshielded character per turn to you're going to
want to take advantage of the fact that he starts at the bottom of the map.
Use powered up magic and ranged attacks to deal as much damage as possible
before he reaches you, when you've hurt him enough he'll run away but you'll
still get the Mission Complete for the map.
~* End of Battle *~
Return to the first map of town and make sure you have Monika in your party.
Go to Michelle's house and watch the scene. Head South and proceed through
the cave to the other side again, enter the Transfer Gate to and warp to
Featheria Isle. Enter the the Southwest generator (No.4) and approach the
main door, you'll receive the 'Aseptic Device Parts.' Return to Bornia
village and enter Michelle's house. Install the parts and fix the machine.
There's something else of note to do as well. Go to Port Delfinia and enter
the inn. Approach the innkeeper and show him the Thief's Button from way back
at the beginning of the game. He'll refer you to the doctor in Falkenfreuk.
The hospital is the building in Falkenfreuk right beside the stairs that lead
downtown. Ask the man about the bag fro mten years ago.

This battles requires that you not allow any soldiers to pass by and
infiltrate Bibliostock, though it makes it difficult because you start so far
away. If you got it I highly recommend using Hugh's Teleport magic for this
battle, it will enables you to get your attackers in there and start wiping
enemies out. Vincent won't need any help whatsoever staying alive, but in the
end he will always have at least one enemy get by him so you'll need to give
him a bit of help with the five guys he starts near. Send one person to each
side as well because the soldiers on those sides will inevitably be killed and
you'll either have to cure them a lot, or help them take down the enemies
before they can be damaged. Soon enough four more enemies, all magic casters,
will appear at the front of town. Make sure you've kept at least one person
in this area, or can quickly Teleport someone to assist, they'll go down in
one hit usually if you're strong enough. Making sure no one dies or gets to
the North end of town guarantees a Mission Complete.
~* End of Battle *~
Walk North and talk to the man at the gate.
- Persuare Zion
- Find a way to stop the plot
- Stop the soul collection
- Defeat Zion in a battle
- Cooperate with Zion
Following the scene return to a Transfer Gate and take it to the Dark
Mountain.
Note: You may want to bring Moinka as your fourth party member, there will be
an event when you continue into the next section.

Your great idea to cast Hugh's Teleport here has just been shut down due to
the battle specifications, but that's alright. Having the right setup is
going to be very important if you want to get the most out of this battle.
First of all I recommend equipping Slayn with gems that give him the utmost
offensive power he can possibly have, Arms Might, Epipahny you name it. I
recommend equipping Yayoi with the most powerful Magic Might you can get, and
after that some offensive enhancing gems. Finally equip High with the most
offensive enhancing gems you can get, so basically you want everyone and
powerful as possible for this battle, with some magic bonuses on Yayoi. Begin
the battle by sending Slayn across the bridge to kill the nearest Soldier
Corpses, send Hugh down to kill the enemies below and have Yayoi begin
charging some attack magic. Around level 4-5 for this magic interrupt it and
cast it on the Litch at the top, for the entire battle he is going to keep
casting Cycle Down on you if you don't stop him first, he will also cast Death
which is just worse. Once he's out of the way, cast Cycle Up to return people
back to optimum and then turn her into an attackers, picking off the enemies
as you go. You should have the Dash tech on Slayn and Hugh by the way, that
should be given. Send Hugh down and move him to the treasure chest beside
where the Arch Fiend started, it contains the 'Root of the Dark Tree' a very
important item. Once he has it he probably won't have time to go back and
fight so convert him into a healer. Once Slayn has eliminated all the nearest
soldier send him to stand on one of the stairways the Arch Fiend must use in
order to get higher, blocking the path and then put him on the offensive
against the fiend. Despite a high level the fiend only has an attack that
deals about 100, and only about 1000 HP. With Hugh healing and Yayoi
attacking from afar it won't stand long. For defeating all the enemies and
ignoring the race objective, the Mission Complete AND the item are obtained.
~* End of Battle *~
Approach the crystal and use the Dark Scroll. After the scene go back through
the cave and return to the Dark Mountain Shrine. Viktor will give you a 'Soul

Bibliostock!
- Defeat Zion before that happens
- Destroy Vase before it's filled
- Let the Ceremony proceed until the eclipse
- It's too late now...
Talk to Sir Granford again after he finishes with you. You can access all
floors of the library now. If you've been following along with the Thief's
Button, and the Dark Tree Root events, there's another thing to do now.
Dismiss your party in Voltone, then go talk to Viktor, he'll give you the
'Ultimate Water.' Use the Transfer Gates to warp to Falkenfreauk. Speak with
the doctor in the hospital here once again. Once he returns you recive the
'Immunity Medicine.' Head to Michelle's house and give her the medicine.
When you leave, go back inside and you'll see a scene with Yayoi.

Look at all those enemies! This battle is hard, Hugh's Teleport spell will
make a world of difference. At the beginning of the battle have him cast it
to send one person to each of the other ends of the map where the enemies are,
and then someone to help fight off the soldiers near Orpheus. Keep someone
who cast cast healing magic but also hold their own weight in a fight near the
front where you start. Use your most powerful attacks to pick off the
soldiers, prefereably more than one at a time if you can. Always be sure that
Cycle Up has not run out. You should have a Holy Mother Tonic or two handy in
case Kreuzweir gets hurt it can heal him for more than 900 HP. As you
progress through the battle more and more enemies will appear from the sides
giving the impression that there are an infinite number, but there aren't,
just a LOT. The magicians can cast quake magic giving them death priority.
The conditions in this battle for Mission Complete are different from most,
they require you to have done the sidequest with Michelle and used the
medicine to revive her. Once you defeat Orpheus she will appear and speak to
him, from this point defeat all the enemies (and as always, also don't let
anyone die) to get the Mission Complete.

This dungeon goes as follows, from B1 to B2 to B3 to B2 to B1 again. Use the
maps illustrated above to help you get from place to place until you reach the
save point on the other end.
This battle is very similar to the one you fought before you entered the
tunnel. The only way it would be difficult is if you were taxed from the
fights inside the dungeon, otherwise it's just a matter of defeating all the
enemies.
This is a very large and challenging, there are numerous ways to approach it.
I will outline a strategy that worked for me however keep in mind there are
numerous ways to beat this mission. During the battle you may note your spend
a very very large portion of the time getting hit by various magic spells,
from damage to status-lowering. I recommend equipping every one of your
characters with Lv4 Dispel gems to completely eliminate all magic cast on you,
this however will include your own characters which is obviously the trade-
off. You'll need to be able to have strong enough defense to survive a good
few bow attacks and sword swings, but nothing too serious since you've
eliminated the threat of magic attacks. You also won't be able to use the
Teleport magic, but the spell is surprisingly not too useful here because you
can't teleport through walls with closed doors. Begin the battle by sending
your troops up, you'll need to step on the two circular panels on the left and
right that you say the soldiers using in the battle intro. Once you step on
these you can walk immediately off them because they will stay stuck. Once
the doors are open use two other characters to go inside and have them both
approach the switches on either side, there are two of them. Once both
characters are standing beside them the main door will open, and you are free
to move away without risk of having it close. This will also trigger three
Litch enemies to appear, these enemies have the death spell which will
completely ruin the battle for you, however fortunately this is much of the
reason you're using the Dispel gems. The Litches now pose very little threat.
Begin to pick off the rest of the less important enemies but don't worry much
about the bosses. When you've wiped the field start targetting Simone, after
a few hundred damage if you've healed Michelle a special event will occur,
this is a requirement to get Mission Complete. Once this event has occurred
Clive becomes your only enemy, his attacks aren't too powerful but without the
ability to target your party with healing magic you'll have to make one
dedicated item user. Focus everyone you have on Clive and be sure not to let
Barbara die. If all these conditions have been satisfied and Clive is
defeated it will ensure the Mission Complete.
~* End of Battle *~
Go into the door on the left side and open the chest to receive the 'Royal
Gauntlet.' Use the Bronze Key you got from defeating Clive to open the door
on the right. Inside you can use the Transfer Gate to return to Voltone to
rest and save. When you're ready come back to the castle. Approach the large
door which is tightly locked and examine the statue to the left of it, you'll
reveal a hidden pathway.
"What an unpleasant surprise, but I suppose a fool and his soul is soon
parted."
- Maybe this isn't a good idea...
- The only fool here is you!
- Time for your last rites!
~* James' Castle *~
Completion Conditions: Game Over Conditions:
- Zion Defeated - Ritual Completed
- Slayn Defeated
Enemies:
There's no complications here, it's just a matter of defeating Zion. You
don't even receive a rating for this mission so you don't have to focus on the
other enemies if you wish not to. Utilize Hugh's Teleport spell to send you
characters around the field and eliminate the more dangerous spellcasters,
including the Monks who will contstantly cast Cycle Down. During the entire
battle a timer is counting down, though it goes slowly you may find it
difficult if you are unable to defeat Zion quickly. Zion has approximately
5000 HP, perhaps a bit more so your attacks will need to be powerful to be
effective. Make sure you hae one person set aside for healing since his
attacks can deal up to 200 damage per character per turn, have 9 Holy Mother
Tonics in your inventory as backup in case you don't have time to charge
magic. In the end this fight should remain easier than the one you fought
most recently so utilize tactics that have gotten you this far throughout the
game and you won't lose. Just for reference I will include below the party
and setup I used in which I defeated every enemy on the map, including Zion,
with the timer only half way up and never going below 100 HP with anyone.

Litch (Lv44)
The Trial Cave is located North of Lindenberg, across the bridge and then to
the Northeast.
There isn't much of a walkthrough to do, this is a pretty basic dungeon with
randomly generated floors, seven in all and six of them contain enemies, all
the same. Proceed from floor to floor basically combing for the stairs
leading down until you hit B7.
When you reach the bottom speak to the person and accept her challenge for
Voltone. The chests contain Lv9 Armor Breaker, Lv9 Sealing Rings and Chi
Scroll. Use someone's return spell and get out of there.

Once you've completed the Trial Cave you can enter this dungeon by going to
your base in Voltone and examining the well beside the girl who you found in
the Trial Cave. It is another randomly generated dungeon. The bottom floor
of this dungeon is B9, the dungeon is very long and large and the same thing
over and over on each floor, very monotonous. When you do manage to make it
to B9 however, you rewards are Louvre Armor, Lv9 Transport Wings and Mind Tune
Scroll. Be sure to use the Return spell to get out of there.
If you go and speak to the fat guy while your party is dismissed, you'll have
the option of racing the reast of your party members. To race you must
alternate between the X and O buttons as fast as possible, and each person you
choose from top to bottom gets progressively harder. The race goes from the
fat guy to the barrels right beside the arena desk. The following are the
approximate times you must beat in order to win each one:
-- Annette -- Hugh
Wager: 50 Elm Wager: 50 Elm
Odds: 2-1 Odds: 1-1
Time: 9 Seconds Time: 7 Seconds
-- Monika -- Yayoi
Wager: 100 Elm Wager: 1000 Elm
Odds: 1-1 Odds: 100-1
Time: 5 Seconds Time: 4 Seconds

Many thanks to Maytree for first noting where to find these.
Slayn's best armor is the Final Guard. In order to obtain it you must
participate in the Damage Competition at the arena and place first, you win
the armor as your prize.
Hugh's best armor is the Royal Gauntlet, it is located in the chest in the
room on the left after the second last battle of the game. Across from the
room with the Transfer Gate where James was being held.
To get Monika's best armor, the Purity Dress you must first find and seal all
the underworld gates on the world map. Once you've done this return to the
Dark Mountain and speak with the person who gave you the task, you'll receive
the Light Cloth. Return to the woman in Schwartzhaas whom you first met when
she was speaking with Monika at the beginning fo the game, you'll get the
Purity Dress. Note: Monika cannot be in your party for this.

Speak to him and Viktor will learn how to craft his own ultimate armor, and
you can pay him 45,000 Elm to do so.
In the raining kingdom of Rolandia there will be times when you walk around on
the world map in this area (focused around the area to the South were Monika
interrupts you) where you will fight very powerful Titan enemies. Defeat all
of these enemies and speak to the man in Bornia about them, as a reward he

The majority of these events are either very important or even required in
order to get your relationship high enough to achieve each their ending.
When you are heading to the port town for the first time have her in your
party when you teleport to the rural village(forgot the name). There will be a
sick kid. Say that she can make the antidote and head back to her mother's
room. Find the antidote recipe in there and she will make it getting her a new
title.
Acquiring the Teleport spell. It is explained as it occurs in the
walkthrough, but in order to do this at one point in the game you will meet a
man in Schwartzhaas who complains to Hugh about him giving away his secret.
Some time later in the game stay at the Bibliostock inn with Hugh and a scene
will occur during the night where you acquire the spell.
After looking into her father at the detective agency go to the town where
you recruited her(forgot the name also) with her in your party and talk to the
new guard there.
Following this leave the town and come back later(you might be able to do it
immediately but I'm unsure) and talk to the guard with Monika in your party
again.
When you go to Dark Mountain bring Monika with you and talk to everyone and
one of them will tell her about her father.
(might not be necessary) Go talk to Monika's uncle and she will explain what
happened to her father to him.
When you have to return to Dark Mountain for Slayn's training bring Monika
with you.
After the training she will awaken as a Dark Messenger.

| Viktor |-----------------------------------------------------------(Cq004)-o
o--------o
Any character's endings you got in Growlanser II can be imported and used in
Growlanser III (except for Sereb) by completing a small task with Viktor.
The following was submitted by Maytree:
Step One: At some point, have Viktor read the book in the top floor of the
Bibliostock Imperial Library titled something like "How to Make a Space-Time
Fusion Device". You don't need to do this the very first time you go there --
you have limited time to read books on your first visit and there are others
more immediately useful, since you can't get one of the parts for the device
until after the Library is completely opened up anyway.
Step Two: Do before or after Step Three, whatever you like (or whenever you
can, power-wise): Go to the arena with Slayn, and win all the 1-on-1 battles.
After you do this, the 2-on-2 and 4-on-4 battles open up. There are various
nice prizes offered, but the one you want is the prize for winning the very
first 4-on-4 battle. It's the Power Stone. If you can get Slayn through the 1-
on-1 battles the 4-on-4 should be a breeze.
Step Three: You can't do this until quite late in the game, so don't bother
trying ;) To get the Mind Interface Metal (I think that name is slightly wrong
but you'll know the stuff when you see it), take Viktor to Lindenberg after
you win the battle there and have him fix the teleport device. He'll find a
piece of the metal stuck in the works and pull it out. This is the only place
to get it I know of, and as I said, you have NO access to it until quite late
in the game, so don't go crazy trying to find it earlier.
Final Step: just kick Viktor out of your active party (you mostly don't want
him there, anyway, you want him in the lab making stat uppers and such for
you) then go show him the Power Stone. If you have both items and he's read
the book, he'll immediately build the device. Then you'll start getting system
messages about inserting cards with GL2 saves, and how it goes from there I
can't tell you because none of my GL2 saves register (which isn't bloody fair,
I completed the game, I should at least get WEIN, shouldn't I??? Sheesh.)
Someone else said that whatever characters you import wind up living in the
apartment building with your GL3 characters, but I don't know anything about
levels, rings, gems, or whatever else might come over with them.

Attributed Gems
These are Power Gems that literally apply attributes to weapons. The Fire
and Water weapons are good examples. Use Fire weapons against enemies with
low resistance to fire, and Water Weapons on enemies with low resistance to
Water. Used against enemies with proper weakness, the effect is terrific.
However, with enemies that have resistance to the same attributes, it's
better to try using different gems.
Port Delfinia Tourist Information:
Delfinia's port is the largest in the region. Its lighthouse is not only
functional, but an extremely attractive example of modern architecture.
Tourists wishing to get the best view of the lighthouse are advised to stand
near the corner of the mayor's house in the center of town.
Magic Techniques: Magic Attributes
Each offensive magic has an attribute, so magics must be chosen to
specifically target enemy weaknesses. For example, Ground Magic has no
effect on flying enemies and would be wasted if cast, while Wind Magic would
be very effective on flying enemies.
Magic Techniques: Supportive Magic
There are three main classes of magic: offensive, healing, and supportive.
Supportive magic is easy to forget about or underestimate, but it can provide
a strong advantage in diffucult battles when used correctly. Another
advantage to supportive magics is that they can be pre-cast, so for those
situations where a battle is imminent, the magic can already be in play and
benefiting your pary.
Star Sand
For to the south of Taoberia, on the beaches in the southwest empire star
sand may be found. It's not really sand, but rather beautiful star-shaped
coral that fascinates all who see it.
Ring Weapon generation
Occasionally, when there is bloodshed, a new Ring Weapon will emerge.
Therefore, battling is an easy way for a Ring Master to obtain new, more
powerful rings. Of course, to obtain the strongest rings involves an element
of certain danger. The stronger the opponent slain, the stronger the ring
that may emerge. However, the risk of death to the Ring Master also
increases proportionately.
Transfer Gate Teleportation Thoery
Transfer Gates, which provide near-instantaneous transportation from one gate
to another, were invented by Sir Nada in partnership with the Featherians.
The units use a Time Crystal to warp space, making such travel possible. Sir
Nada calculated the formulas the devices use, and the Featherians created the
devices to his specifications. There are two types of Transfer Gates, One-t
to-One and Central-Gather.
Purity Dress
A shiny dress made from cloth embedded with magic crystals. Extremely thin,
but very good at absorbing enemy attacks. Fashioning clothing from Light
Cloth requires advanced sewing skills.
Rainbow Feather Robe
A beautiful multi-colored robe of heavenly thread. The robe was given to a
wise beast by a heavenly maiden long ago. One with a pure mind might be able
to petition the beast to obtain it.
Final Guard
A reinforced jacket made from silk thread called Graphnil. The defensive
properties of this thread is far beyond that of simple metals. The only
known Final Guard is kept by the Arena master, and given to the champion each
year.
The Life and Times of Sir Nada Vol. 1
Sir Nada did not begin his life as a great inventor, but rather a troubled
youth. He rarely went to school, choosing instead to lock himself in the
library to read what he wanted. As a result, he fared poorly in History,
Literature, Personal Growth, and Cooking. However, he excelled at the study
of magic, amazing even his instructors. Transfer Gate theory was developed
by Sir Nada while still a student.
The Life and Times of Sir Nada Vol. 2
At 18, Sir Nada set out for the Kirschland Continent and set course for
Rolandia. He intended to mine for Time Crystals to test his theories. With
the help of Featherians, who took an interest in his work, he struck a
productive vein of Time Crystal. Featherian Science was combined with Sir
Nada's theories to create the Transfer Gates used today.
The Life and Times of Sir Nada Vol. 3
Sir Nada's partnership with Featherians bore much fruit. He invented many
kinds of magical devices and was taken into service as the Court Magician of
Rolandia, eventually receiving the title of "Sir". Eventually his interest
was drawn to non-device oriented magics much as the "Meteor" Cooperation
magic and the Summon technique. Old and satisfied he died at the age of 194.

Creating A Space-Time Summon Device
There is a way to summon people across time and space. To do so, the
following is required:
1) Space-Time Summon Device
2) Wave of Hades
3) Time-travel Wind
It is said that "Wave of Hades" is handled by Dark Spirit Messengers, and
"Time-travel Wind" is by Wind Spirit Messengers. However, the very existance
of Spirit Messengers is legendary and not well documented, so the truth of
their existence is unknown. However, if the legends are true, and a "Space-
Time Summon Device" can be made, Space-Time Summoning will be possible.
Preparing a Space-Time device is not complicated, but you need Mind Induction

Secret Treasure Mysteries:
There are three crystals in this world that have special attributes and are
highly coveted.
- Space-Time Crystal: In the hands of one that can harness its power, this
Crystal is said to be able to transport matter from one space-time to

- Dark Crystal: This Crystal is said to have the power to call back souls
from the dead to fight against the living. When these souls are called
back using this Crystal, the sun is said to be cut off from the world by a
shroud of darkness.
- Water Crystal: Is said to have the power to move water, pushing it, or
holding it back as the user desires.
These three crystals have unique abilities by themselves. However, together,
they can be used to unlock a sealed cave door near Lake Biene, southeast of
the Capital.
Summoning and the Legendary Garb
There was a wizard who was too confident of himself. He believed that he was
the best in the land, and as proof of that, he came up with the idea that he
would create the strongest armor known to man. Unfortunately, all existing
materials that could be used to create this "Master Garb" were being used by
other wizards. He decided to try to get the earthly materials he needed from
the ruler of the underworld. This was no easy task, but after great effort,
he succeeded in summoning this ruler, and...

-- Bibliostock Rumors
The only son of Sir Granford, Govenor of Bibliostock, has been missing for
some time, but rumors of sightings have begun circulating recently. The
Bureau sent out agents in the area to verify the source and authenticity of
the rumors, but the were unable to do so.
-- Port Refugee Problem
Port Delfinia was occupied by James' Faction and was being used as a staging
area for their invasion of the Capital. However, due to a flood of refugees
arriving and rioting over the conditions there, James' Faction troops
abandoned the occupation. Our agents investigated the cause of the refugee
tide and siscovered the it was a plot by Aggressival's Army.
-- Port Occupying Army
Aggressival's Army not only planned the refugee overflow problem at Port
Delfinia, they inserted tropps and intelligence officers into the refugee
stream. As a result, Aggressival was able to occupy the port and remove the
influence of Thoedora's Faction completely. While this was happening, Queen
Theodora died suddenly...reportedly of a heart attack, though the possibility
of assassination is quite strong and should not be discounted. This
possibility is strengthened by the fact that an assassin specializing in
poisoning has been connected with a superior officer in Aggressival's army.
-- Aggressival Army Movement
In the two-pronged plot, Aggressival's Army hired an assassin who was active
in the Empire to kill Queen Theodora with undetectable poison. As that was
happening, they flooded Port Delfinia with refugees to overcome James' Faction
troops and moved in to occupy the port when the other troops were driven out.
The Queen's death pulled her army apart, resulting in the abduction of Karl
and a proclamation renouncing the Empire's alliance. Fortunately, due to the
successful campaign of Commander Kenneth Reimon, Karl was returned and the
troops retreated without casualties.
-- Barbara and Orpheus

Orpheus: "Why...why are you so good to me?"
Barbara: "Are you complaining?"
Orpheus: "Quite to the contrary, I know that without this medicine, I would
have died."
Orpheus: "I was just...curious, that's all. Why would you take such good care
of me when I am a stranger to you?"
Barbara: "For love?"
Orpheus: "Love? But..."
Barbara: "You look like someone I once knew...someone I loved."

-- Getting the Dark Tree Root (Submitted by Maytree)
In the boss fight where Slayn races a Guardian to reach the big Dark Crystal
under Dark Mountain, look at the bottom of the screen. The Guardian's usual
position is standing watch over a chest. The Dark Tree Root is in that chest.
The easiest way to get it is to have Hugh Dash over and snap it up while the
Guardian is trying to catch Slayn -- just make sure Slayn doesn't reach the
crystal too fast and end the fight, because the Guardian will resume its place
in front of the chest when the fight is over! So get to the chest during the
battle.
I don't know if you can kill the Guardian and get free access to the chest
after the battle; I intend to try that this time around. The Guardian is a
level 50 Arch Fiend and they're pretty tough, so I don't know if killing it
the first time through is realistic without a lot of tiresome leveling up.
However, this time I have my super Rings and gems all set, and I've been using
the level 8 stat power-ups since almost the start of the game, so I figure
that Arch Fiend will be Arch Fiend cutlets by the time Slayn makes it back to
Dark Mountain on this play through.
Oh, and an addendum for clarity's sake: The room I'm talking about is in the
Trial Caves. You can't get in there on your first visit to Dark Mountain. You
won't get in there until the plot sends you there, so don't waste time and
effort trying. Just be patient and grab the Dark Tree Root when the time is
right. (Save before you go into that boss battle so you don't miss it by
accident or bad luck, natch.)
-- Randolf's Sidequest (Submitted by Maytree)
In GL3, the main character has a history with an assassin named Randolf. The
issue will go unresolved, however, unless you do certain things during the
game; you won't automatically end up facing down Randolf in the normal course
of things unless you put in a little extra effort. So here's how to do it, if
you want to:
The first part happens automatically. When you sleep at the hotel in
Falkenfreuk during the night of the Dark Crystal ritual, your main character
is visited by a guy named Tony. No matter what dialog choices you make, Tony
will divulge some useful information and promise to contact you later.
The next part you have to do yourself, as the game at no time makes you do so:
Spend another night at Falkenfreuk. (I did this during the Aggressival
occupation, as the city was available then; there is at least one, possibly
more, long stretch of time in the game where the city is not accessible to
your party.) Tony will pay the main character another visit and offer to help
smoke out Randolf.
When you return to your home base in Voltone, dismiss your party and go to the
spy guy who does off-sheet reports. Choose "I have a request", select "Set Up
Randolf", and pay the fee. Then go do an event battle. Check back after the
event and see if the finished report is there. When I did this, the report was
there instantly, but I did it very late in the game, so there may be timing
issues if you do it earlier.
After you have read the completed report, sleep in your apartment in Voltone.
At some point (probably determined by the game by some standard of your
readiness, since you have no choice about starting this battle) Tony will
knock on your door in Voltone and tell you where to find Randolf. You will
automatically go to the rendezvous location -- you can't turn this down, which
is why there is probably a timing element in the game before which Tony's
final visit won't happen. Randolf is level 39 and has between 500 and 700 hit
points (I couldn't narrow it down further because my main character was too
powerful at that point and his killing blow did 177 points -- so I can say
Randolf has more than 500, but I don't know if he has 501, or 677 HP).
After you finish this, you should take the Keepsake Ring to a girl in Toaberia
and get the quite nice Level 9 Rainbow's End gem in return.
-- Space-Time Resistor (Submitted by RaptureII and Maytree)
I also have discovered another item. It is the Space-Time Resistor. It is
supposed to cancel the power of the Space-Time Crystal, but I haven't gotten a
chance to use it yet. You get it by first talking to Viktor after the second
Clive fight. He will say he can make a device to cancel out the Space-Time
Crystal if you bring him something that vibrates on the same wavelength(or
something like that). You then go to the mines where you originally got the
second space-time crystal and go to the bottom. You will find some time
crystal ore. Show it to Viktor and he will make you the device.
The device comes into play during the secon-to-last battle in the game.
-- Get High-end RIngs Early (Submitted by Kimber Boh)
Here's a helpful tip for those finding it difficult to get high-end Rings
early in GL3. If you level up your characters consistently between story
battles and random encounters, you should have a good chance of accomplishing
this.
1) Learn Thievery on Hugh as soon as possible.
2) When you reach the battle against Clive in the Rolandia Mines, have Hugh
use Dash and then Thievery on Clive when he's casting a spell. Clive will drop
a random level 6 gem. Keep resetting your game until Clive drops either an Art
of Thievery (which I got), or a Ring Replica gem.
3) If you get an Art of Thievery off Clive and not a Ring Replica, equip it on
Monika. Now you have 2 people who can steal- Hugh and Monika. Steal from every
boss or high-level enemy in story battles. When you return to Bornia, I had
Hugh steal from Randolph before Orpheus beats him. This netted me the awesome
level 6 Ring Replica gem.
4) Proceed to the Prisoner's Tower quest, making sure you've leveled to around
level 20-22. Make sure Hugh, Annette, and Slayn have the techs Dash and
Critical Hit (these you should've learned real early on anyway). Since you are
higher level than the game figures you'll be, surround and gank the iron
guardian after you kill the two mages. Steal from it, and pummel it (healing
as needed with spells or items). By killing it yourself, it will drop a super
high-end Ring. I got a 9-9-5! Then unlock the two doors and steal then pummel
the two tribes.
5) Now you have a ridiculously high-end Ring rather early in the game. If you
want, use a couple of Fairy Tears on it to get it to 9-9-9 if you like. Equip
the Ring on Slayn (or whoever) and the Ring Replica gem on it. Kill 25 low-
level wimps around Falkenfreuk until the Ring replicates. Rinse and repeat
twice more, and now all 4 of your characters have a 9-9-9 Ring at about the
1/4 (maybe 1/3) mark of the game!
-- Co-op Magic (Submitted by RaptureII)
Before you can cast co-op magic you must have mastered the cooperation skill
(I'm assuming you know how to get this). Following this you are able to cast
co-op magic if two people have compatible spells ready to cast. If I remember
right if the spells are of the same type the levels add together for the level
of the spell and different type magics combined average the levels. You can
combine any(I think) of the basic four elemental magics to get more powerful
magics. I think you can also combine two of the same spell to either get a
better spell or a faster way to cast a high level version of the spell. You
can combine a wind type spell with a spirit type spell or another type(forgot
what) to get powerful spells(I think spirit gets you soul force). Later in the
game you will get a spell called blast from the guy who teaches you co-op
magic. You can combine this spell with the four primary elemental spells to
create spells such as earthquake or cyclone.
