Ok - for starters, don't knick my work and write it off as your own yada
yada yada. If this walkthrough appears anywhere other than www.gameFAQs.com
you'll know it's been plagurised, modified or stolen. Offenders will jabbed
in the head repeatedly with Katherine's syringe. Please feel free to email
any questions. Now let's go save some souls...

Your main objective is to simply to escape from Gregory House. Before
'Death' will agree to show you the exit route out of the hotel, you must
first bring him the souls that are held captive by the hotel's various
guests. Once you have stolen a guest's soul, you must avoid them at all
costs, or they will perform a unique Horror Show on your ass, resulting in
a massive loss of health (for a description of each character's Horror Show
see the 'Horror Shows' section in this walkthrough).

Gregory Horror Show was originally a Japanese 3D CGI cartoon and popular
trading card board game that featured small collectable miniature figurines
based on the Gregory Horror Show guests. Unfortunately most of the original
cast of Gregory Horror Show characters do not appear in the console game,
but they can be viewed at:

Your health (mental gauge) appears as a smokey ring that surrounds your
character's face in the top left corner of the screen. Your health is always
diminishing slowly, as Gregory House saps your sanity by increments. You can
increase your health however by sleeping on your bed, reading at your desk
or by eating/drinking certain items, especially herbs.

- STATUS AILMENTS -

You may experience the following status ailments. Each status ailment has a
cure that may be bought in Gregory Horror Shop or located by searching the
hotel:

Tiredness - if you stay awake too long, you will get this. It can lead to
all sorts of status ailments. Recovers with some sleep.

Headache - when you stay tired for a while, you will get this. The mental
gauge will decrease as time goes on. Recovers with headache remedy.

Nervous - When you have a headache for a while, you will get this. Recovery
items will only be half as effective. Recovers with antacid.

Confusion - you will get this within 30 minutes of being nervous. You will
have difficulty in moving. Recovers with sedative.

Melancholy - this happens when someone take a soul back from you. You'll get
so depressed that you won't have the energy to run. Recovers with laughing
'shrooms.

Darkness - this happens between 12am and 6am and also when you go
underground. You will be unable to see clearly. Recovers with eyedrops.

Never leave your present location without first consulting your map to study
the movements of the hotel's guests. Be especially cautious when the hour
hand passes the 12, as most guests follow hourly routines and may be moving
between locations at this time.

Save often, especially after obtaining key items or souls.

To learn each guest's weak point you must spy on them in turn and glean
information from their dialogue that will reveal their secrets and habits.
You can hide (triangle) in some cupboards - peek through the crack in the
doors to see if the coast is clear. You can also hide in the shadows of
pillars, behind the sofa in the lounge, under the table in the dining room
and behind corners - you must actually lean around corners to eavesdrop on
guests (simply hiding behind a corner will not allow you to eavesdrop
properly). You can also sneak up (triangle) behind guests and follow them as
they move about the hotel.

Each guest's dialogue will appear as a series of short sentences contained
in a talking balloon. Pay attention, as these revelations often provide much
needed clues and hints about the Gregory House residents.
A distinctive sound like a muffled gong will be heard when a guest has
exhausted their dialogue (usually after about the 4th phrase), indicating
that they are about to repeat their dialogue again. You must listen to each
guest's dialogue in its' entirety to record it accurately in your memo book.
Each guest may have different dialogue and different daily routines
depending on the night and the number of guests in the hotel.

Green, yellow and red herbs that replenish health regenerate in the
groundfloor courtyard.
Neko Zombie will often complain of being hungry. If you supply him with his
favourite foods he'll give you a random item. Approach him between 1am-3am,
11am-2pm and 8pm-10pm with an assortment of foods.

If you are short of items to exchange, search for items that regenerate in
the 'Items' section of this walkthrough.

You can store items/books in the shelves in your room. Press L1/R1 to toggle
between the item shelf and the book shelf.

Cactus Girl in Room 203 1F can provide strategy tips when pressed for
information. Gregory will also offer information about the guests if caught
at the right time. You can also read the reference books in the library to
gain information about the guests (reference books cannot leave the
library).
Jame's diary also contains helpful information - a new entry will appear
every
time 3 souls have been delivered to Death.

--- THE FIRST NIGHT - GREGORY HOUSE ---

-- Neko Zombie --

After the cutscene, leave your room and approach the metal door that appears
next to your room, Room 102. Peek into the prison cell and listen to Neko
Zombie.
Neko Zombie will ask you to retrieve the key to his cell, which is located
behind the counter in the lobby.
Walk back past Room 101 and enter the lobby. Talk to Gregory and eventually
he will go on his rounds. Once he is gone, take the key from behind the
counter and unlock Neko Zombie's cell.
Neko Zombie will ask you to leave his room and to peek through the keyhole
of the cell door. He will then ask you a series of questions about his
favourite food. Enter the cell again and provide Neko Zombie with the
correct
answer, 'chocolate' to obtain your first soul.
Return to your room and go to sleep. Hand the soul over to Death.
=============
Strategy tip: Neko Zombie will often complain of being hungry. If you supply
him with his favourite foods he'll give you a random item. Approach him
between 11am-2pm and 8pm-10pm with an assortment of foods.
=============

-- Catherine --

After the cutscene, leave Neko Zombie's cell and you'll be introduced to
James, Gregory's nephew.
Talk to Gregory and he will give you the ground floor map. Access the map by
pressing 'select'. Now you can see the location of every resident in Gregory
House.
You must place a banana in Catherine's path. Catherine will slip on the
banana, temporarily leaving her soul on the floor beside her.
Obtain a banana from the kitchen and return to the hallway outside your
room.
Place the banana in Catherine's path (use R1 to select banana), wait for
Catherine to fall over and quickly steal her soul.
After the cutscene get some sleep in your room, but DO NOT give the soul to
Death - your character is more resilient if he/she holds onto souls.

-- Judgment Boy --

After meeting Judgment Boy, SAVE YOUR GAME at the Frog Fortune-teller in the
room with the ornate door opposite Catherine's room. Judgment Boy will never
harm you, although he is insanely annoying.
Ensure that Catherine is a safe distance away and inspect her room to locate
Gregory's dirty book - dirty as in, you know... T & A.
Show the dirty book to Gregory and he will refer you to another book in the
library.
Go to the library and retrieve the self-help book from the shelf.
Take the self-help book to Judgment Boy. He will cast judgment on you, and
you must choose the correct response, which is the most positive assertive
option. Judgment Boy will then relinquish his soul.
Go to your room and hand the 2 souls you are holding over to Death.

--- THE SECOND NIGHT - EDGE OF INSANITY ---

Gregory has now opened some of the guest rooms on the second floor, as well
as the door leading to the courtyard and rear of the kitchen. Note also that
the garbage chute from the bar leads to the courtyard.
The map to the first floor may be found in Room 202.
Cactus Girl in Room 203 can provide strategy tips when pressed for
information.

-- Lost Doll --

To retrieve Lost Doll's soul, buy the doll from Gregory Horror Shop and give
the doll to Lost Doll while she is pining outside her room. The soul she was
carrying will now appear on her bed. Quickly steal the soul before Lost Doll
misplaces her doll again.

-- Mummy Dog & Mummy Papa --

Mummy Papa will lose consciousness from time to time and pass out on the
floor, dropping his soul. This is your opportunity to steal it. The best
opportunity is when he is out cold on the Library floor between 10pm-12am.

-- Cactus Gunman & Cactus Girl --

To retrieve Cactus Gunman's soul, simply knock on his door 3 times when he
is in his bedroom. After each knock, hide in Cactus Sister's room and wait
for
Cactus Gunman to return to his room. After the third disturbance, Cactus
Gunman will freak out and drop his soul in the hallway.
Go to your room and hand the 3 souls you are holding over to Death.

--- THE THIRD NIGHT - THE HIDDEN TRUTH ---

Gregory has now opened the 3 basement levels - use the door in the courtyard
to access the basement levels. A barred door on the groundfloor near the
Nurse's Room also leads to basement level 1, but must be unlocked from the
other side first.
The map for basement level 1 is found in the first room in basement level 1,
the room with 3 doors.
The map for basement level 2 is found in the passage in basement level 2.
The map for basement level 3 is found in the 3rd alcove on the right in
basement level 3.
Every basement level has a round switch marked with a horned skull. These
switches open hatch doors on each level. The hatch on basement level 1 will
deposit you at the basement level 2 hatch. The hatch on basement level 2
will deposit you at the basement level 3 hatch. The hatch on basement level
3
will deposit you in the groundfloor courtyard.

-- TV Fish --

You must first retrieve the dead remote from Room 3 on basement level 1.
Return to Gregory Horror Shop and purchase some batteries. 'Use' the
batteries and place them inside the dead remote.
Equip the remote (R1) and locate TV Fish. He appears on basement level 1 at
2am, on basement level 2 between 8am-12pm and on basement level 3 at 6pm.
Sneak up behind TV Fish and shoot (X) him with the remote control. Steal his
soul while he is unconscious.
=============
Strategy Tip: the easiest way to steal TV Fish's soul is to knock on the
jukebox in the 1F bar. TV Fish will emerge from the jukebox, allowing you to
shoot him with the remote. Always search TV Fish's body for books or other
items when he is unconscious.
=============

-- Roulette Boy --

Locate the dice in Basement level 3 by exploring the 5th alcove on the left.
Present the dice to Roulette Boy and you will be transported to the Roulette
Room, where you must compete with Gregory to win Roulette Boy's soul (see
'Hell's Roulette' section for strategy tips). If you lose, you can always
play again at a later stage - just find Roulette Boy and present the dice to
him.
Once you have won the game, you can return to Roulette Boy's gaming room
again to try and win health or mystery items, such as Roulette Boy's books.
Once you have taken Roulette Boy's soul, Roulette Boy will not let you play
again unless you approach him when he is alone in his gaming room.
Consult the Roulette Boy memo entries to isolate the time slots when he is
alone in the gaming room.

-- Hell's Chef --

Simply enter the kitchen when it is unoccupied and place a variety of
unsavoury items into Hell Chef's pot. You will be notified when the pot is
full.
A cutscene will show Hell's Chef in a rage, and he will begin searching for
you in the groundfloor hallway, running in a counter-clockwise direction.
Stand outside the Storeroom door and wait for Hell's Chef to approach you.
When he passes by Mummy Papa's room, quickly enter the Storeroom and Hell's
Chef will follow you. The flame on his head will be extinguished by the
draft
issuing through the open window in the storeroom, allowing you to steal his
soul.
Go to your room and hand the 3 souls you are holding over to Death.

--- THE FOURTH NIGHT - WHERE THE ROAD LEADS ---

Gregory has now opened the remaining rooms on the first floor, as well as
the Heaven or Hell room on basement level 1.

-- Clock Master & My Son --

Visit Gregory Horror Shop and exchange several items for 3 speed ups. Clock
Master can stop time and appear before you in an instant, so it is important
to have extra speed when you need to evade him.
You must steal My Son's screwdriver from the toolbox in the Storeroom and
present it to Clock Master. When Clock Master realises you have stolen from
My Son, he will explode in a fit of rage and chase you about the hotel.
The easiest way to outrun Clock Master is to pop a speed up item every time
Clock Master reorders time. Be wary of other guests as you plan your escape
route. Try to lead Clockmaster down into the basement where you'll be safer.
After Clock Master has stopped time 3 times, he will break down and
collapse.
Quickly locate My Son and retrieve the soul he is guarding.

-- Angel Dog --

Angel Dog watches her favourite sporting show in the Lounge at 6:00pm every
night. Gregory however wishes to clean the Lounge at this time and disrupts
her viewing.
You must retrieve the dirty book from the Storeroom (if it is not already in
your possession) and give it to Gregory around 5:30pm/5:45pm. Gregory will
be so busy indulging himself with his dirty book that he will neglect to
clean
the Lounge, allowing Angel Dog to watch her show in peace.
To obtain Angel Dog's soul, simply spy on her through the Lounge door
keyhole.
Once her dialogue has cycled through entirely, wait for her to approach the
tv and steal her soul while she is preoccupied.
Go to your room and hand the 2 souls you are holding over to Death.

-- Judgment Boy Gold --

Judgment Boy Gold patrols the passages on basement level 3.
Simply approach him and he and his proteges will ask you 5 questions
relating to the routines and private lives of the hotel guests.
Answer every question correctly and you will receive his soul. Answer
incorrectly and you will have to repeat the process over again.
Some of the correct answers include:
Mummy Papa visits the Nurse's Room; Angel Dog argues with Gregory; Cactus
Gunman watches westerns; My Son fixes the clock in the Storeroom; Catherine
eats donuts.
=============
Strategy Tip: if yoy intend to try and collect all the books, memos and
miniature figurines do so now before handing the last soul over to Death.
You cannot access the rest of the hotel, nor study the guests once Death has
Judgment Boy Gold's Soul.
=============
Once you have obtained Judgment Boy's soul, go to your room and hand the
last soul over to Death.

--- THE FIFTH NIGHT - THE GREAT ESCAPE ---

Talk to Neko Zombie, then leave via the front door in the Lobby.
Mama Gregory will imprison you in the basement dungeon.
Leave the dungeon and walk down the passage until you arrive at double-doors
adorned with skulls. Enter the doors and proceed up the stairs to Mama
Gregory's room.
Take all the health items that are hidden in the shelves and be sure to
retrieve the key of hope and the mind-up hidden behind the shelves.
Return downstairs to the double-doors with the skulls. Take the passage that
is opposite the doors and you will emerge in basement level 1.
Return to the Lobby and attempt to leave via the front door.

-- Mama Gregory --

Mama Gregory will chase you around the Lobby. Avoid her swipe attack by
continually running in a circuit around the Lobby.
To defeat Mama Gregory, position yourself in front of the double-doors just
before she releases a blast of energy. Mama Gregory will stop and pant just
before she shoots. If you move out of the way in time the blast will hit the
door, destroying the door by increments. The door must be hit 5 times before
you can escape. Allow Mama Gregory to swipe at you, but move out of the way
before she hits you - this will exhaust her sooner.
Replenish your health when necessary - the mind-up will stabilise your
health for a few minutes.

-- Gregory --

To beat Gregory, simply run in a straight line towards the light and ignore
his hovering form. If you waver or delay, your health will disappear.

____________________________________________

--- THE FIRST NIGHT - GREGORY HOUSE ---

--- Gregory ---

0-2 - Work at Front Desk (standing behind counter in Lobby)
He's doing manager-type work at the front desk. Doesn't look too busy
though.

2-4 - Taking a Break (alone in the Manager's Office)
James is minding reception. Letting a kid do that work - what is this world
coming to?

4-6 - Making the Rounds (roaming the GF hallway)
Better make sure Gregory doesn't catch me spying on him when he's making his
rounds.

6-8 - Work at Front Desk (standing behind counter in Lobby)
I wonder what he's writing in that register. Knowing him, probably
bad-mouthing the guests.

8-10 - Cleaning Changing R. (cleaning the Changing Room)
He's cleaning the changing room with care. It looks like he's been using
that broom for years.

10-12 - Tidying Library (looking for his dirty book in the Library)
He's picking up books. There's lots of different kinds - maybe I'll go take
a look sometime.

12-14 - Making the Rounds (roaming the GF hallway)
It's a manager's job to keep track of his hotel. In a hotel this big, making
the rounds must be hard.

14-18 - Work at Front Desk (standing behind counter in Lobby)
Hard at work, doing the paperwork. He actually looks pretty sharp with his
glasses on.

18-20 - Cleaning Conf. Room (pacing in the Lounge)
Cleaning up crumbs. Speaking of which, I did hear something little scurrying
sounds in there. Yikes!

20-22 - Work at Front Desk (standing behind counter in Lobby)
That work doesn't look to hard. How about I do his work and he goes and gets
the souls for me?

22-24 - Making the Rounds (roaming the GF hallway)
Making the rounds this late at night? He's scaring me to death jumping out
of the dark like that!

--- James ---

0-2 - Prancing Around (roaming the GF hallway)
He's walking around the hotel, looking for ways to make trouble.

2-4 - At the Front Desk (standing behind the counter in the Lobby)
James is minding the front desk in Gregory's place. He's just messing around
though.

4-6 - Sleepy Time (sleeping in the Manager's Office)
He's sleeping soundly on the bed in his room. Still hasn't shut up, I see.

6-8 - Messy Changing Room (playing in the Changing Room)
He's opening lockers and scattering the contents around. Making trouble
really gets James worked up.

8-10 - Mess in the Library (playing in the Library)
Gregory always has to clean up the books James scatters around... dear oh
dear!

10-12 - Kid's Show (watching tv in the Lounge)
It's the most popular kid's show on tv: "Wimp Brigade"! The dreary theme
song is a big hit, too.

12-14 - Messy Nurse's Room (playing in the Nurse's Office)
He's happily making a mess in the Nurse's Room. I can just picture
Catherine's angry face.

14-16 - Time for Dinner (eating in the Dining Room)
Wh...what's that?! A special menu just for James?! "GHS Children's Lunch
Special"

16-18 - Prancing Around (roaming the GF hallway)
Though he's just a kid, he struts around like a prince. Are there big things
in his future?

18-20 - Mess in Kitchen (playing in the Kitchen)
He's making a mess of the kitchen while looking for a snack. I see a shiny
cleaver in his future...

20-22 - Prancing Around (roaming the GF hallway)
He's humming to himself as he prances around the hotel. Every day must be
fun for him.

22-24 - Mess at Front Desk (standing behind counter in Lobby)
The front desk is getting to be a mess. I wonder if Gregory is going to have
to clean it up again.

--- Neko Zombie ---

22-1 - Sitting in Room (alone in his cell)
Sitting quietly on the cold floor in the dank room... trying to endure some
hardship.

1-3 - Hungry (pacing in his cell)
Frantically pacing around his room, looking hungry. Do I have something I
could give him?

3-5 - Completely bonkers (running in his cell)
He's pacing around like a mad animal. Better not get too close - I might end
up with bite marks.

5-8 (first half) - Foraging in the Kitchen (eating in the kitchen)
His empty stomach has driven him out of his room to look for something good
to eat.
5-8 (second half) - Sitting in Room (alone in his cell)
He looks relatively calm this time of day. Maybe he'll tell me something
good.

8-11 - In a Stupor (sleeping in his cell)
I hope he's having good dreams. But I doubt he ever has any good dreams in

To unlock miniature desktop figurines of each character (similar to the real
miniature figurines that accompany the trading card board game), you must
witness each character's 'special action' and record it in the memo book on
the desk in your room. This tedious task may only be achieved by spying on
each character round the clock until you have recorded a set number of
entries in the memo book.
Eg: if you have witnessed 10% of the hotel guests' dialogue, you will unlock
approximately 10% of the figurines. If you witness 90% of the hotel guests'
dialogue, you will unlock approximately 90% of the figurines.
The sum of the memo entries is the key to unlocking the figurines. The style
or type of 'special action' that the guests perform is irrelevant - it is
the
percentage of actions that you record as memos that is important.
Witnessing a particular guest's special action may not necessarily result in
you unlocking that guest's figurine - it may unlock the figurine of an
entirely different guest.

The memo entries will appear as coloured bars in your journal, each colour
representing a specific location where a guest was spotted (in their room,
upstairs, outside, etc...). A split or halved bar indicates that a guest
follows 2 different routines in that particular time slot depending on the
day. It is an extremely difficult and time-consuming task recording each
guests' memos, as some guests follow different routines on certain days, or
may even leave the hotel completely for hours at a time.
Your only indication that you have witnessed the special action is the
appearance of the figurine on the table beside your desk or as a small icon
on your save file.

Try to witness each character's special action before taking their souls,
otherwise they will chase you on sight, making it very difficult for you to
spy on them. Be especially cautious when the hour hand passes the 12, as
most
guests follow hourly routines and may be moving between locations at this
time.

You can carry your incomplete memo notes and figurine collection over to a
new game once you have completed your current game by loading the finished
game save file. Remember to save the game at the prompt after the credits
appear.

It is recommended that souls and memos are collected in the following order
(see list below). This will minimise your chances of running into enemies.
Be sure to check your memo book on each of the 5 nights, as previous entries
may be deleted to accomodate the new guest's routines:

1. Neko Zombie's soul
2. Catherine's soul
3. Judgment Boy's soul

4. Gregory's memos
5. Neko Zombie's memos
6. Catherine's memos
7. Judgment Boy's memos
8. James' memos
9. Mummy Papa's memos
10. Mummy Dog's memos
11. Cactus Gunman's memos
12. Lost Doll's memos

13. Lost Doll's soul
14. Mummy Papa's soul
15. Cactus Gunman's soul

16. Roulette Boy's memos
17. Hell's Chef's memos
18. TV Fish's memos

19. Roulette Boy's soul
20. Hell's Chef's soul
21. TV Fish's soul

22. Clock Master's memos
23. My Son's memos
24. Angel Dog's memos

25. Clock Master's soul
26. Angel Dog's soul
27. Judgement Boy Gold's soul

28. Judgment Boy Gold's memos

29. Mama Gregory's soul

Incidentally, it took me around 30 hrs unassisted to complete the game 100%.

Hell's Roulette is a simple board game in which you compete against Gregory
to be the first player to reach the other end of the gaming room.

It is relatively easy to beat the game once you have understood how the
spinning wheel is programmed and have memorised the function of the cards
and board tokens.
The arrow will always stop at the number it is pointing to when the X button
is pressed: eg, if the arrow is whizzing past the 6 when you press the X
button to stop the arrow, the arrow will stop at 6. In this way you can
choose how many spaces you wish to move on the board, and by viewing the
map, may avoid the obstacles and pinpoint the most advantageous tokens, like
the SAFE token.

Each turn should be played as follows:
1. Choose 'ITEM'. Begin each turn by replenishing your health or by choosing
a card that will either disadvantage your opponent or advance your player on
the board. If you are low on health use a herb. If you are healthy, use
cards to disadvantage your opponent or to increase your chances of winning.
2. Choose 'VIEW MAP'. Count the number of spaces to the furthest SAFE token
that can be reached within 8 moves. If no SAFE token is available, choose a
COUNTER or MYSTERY token.
3. Choose 'ROULETTE'. Press X to activate the wheel, then press X as the
arrow passes the number that corresponds with the number of moves you wish
to make.

Once you have completed the game on Normal mode, you can access Hell's
Roulette via the main start menu. You can play against either Gregory or a
friend in 2 player mode.

Cheers to Capcom for releasing this quirky, obscure title - Japanese
zaniness at its' best. Many gamers argue that Naomi Iwata's stylish
character
design doesn't compensate for the tedious repetitive gameplay, but to them I
say bull-plop. It is unfortunate that many of Gregory House's more macabre
guests didn't make it into the console game (Toilet Baby has got to be seen
to be believed), but hopefully that implies there's a chance for a sequel.

Thanks to Dylan Lewis for patiently assisting with the special action
section. Cheers Buddy.

Thanks to Collin Lee for for his assistance with collecting the real Gregory
Horror Show miniature figurines. In your debt...

And finally, thanks again to my dog, Puppy. We grow fonder of you every
single day little man. And if I ever catch you chewing any of my Gregory
Horror Show figurines again, I'll turn you into a coat. x
