RYUDO
¯¯¯¯¯
Ryudo's a Geohound, a type of mercenary who's not looked on with much esteem
by society. His companion is a (bigmouthed) bird named Skye, who accompanies
him on adventures and jobs. Early in the game, Ryudo accepts a proposal to
escort the Songstress of Granas, Elena, to the St. Heim Cathedral, and from
there a bunch of hijinx ensue. He's a sword user and physically strong, and
his stats are pretty even, too.

ELENA
¯¯¯¯¯
The Songstress of Granas, she's got a gentle heart and is always willing to
help those in need. Although compassionate and altruistic to her core, she's
still pretty naive and hasn't seen the world beyond her own doorstep, for
the most part. After events at Garmia Tower, she joins Ryudo, who escorts her
to St. Heim's cathedral. She is gifted in the powers of curative (surprise!)
nature, and comes with a mana egg that specializes in such things.

MILLENIA
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
A strange woman who's one-third evil and one-third good. The other third is
saved for flirting with Ryudo, who she's attracted to 'cause he's the only
person who's ever treated her kindly. Well, Ryudo could care less for the
most part, but...whatever works. She's a great mage and comes with a Chaos
Egg that has great elemental properties; to boot, she's able to learn some
new skills after defeating...ahem, certain storyline bosses.
ROAN
¯¯¯¯
A boy with a pleasant demeanor, and also an apparent runaway, most people he
mets take an immediate liking to him. Except Ryudo, but oh well. He can be a
bit headstrong at times but is also simultaneously capable of highly rational
thought, and is very responsible (see: later in game). He uses knives which
aren't very powerful, and his defense/HP lack -- but he's got great skills!
In fact, he gets more than anyone -- some just aren't usable later on.

MAREG
¯¯¯¯¯
A beast-man who initially attacks the party (and later apologizes), he's on a
quest to restore his village's honor by slaying the demonic person who tore
up the place. He's tall, strong, and is a stabbing machine with his battleax;
thus, he is a threat to be reckoned with. He's got more HP than anyone, which
always makes him handy 'round the battlefield.

An automata (robo-person) created during the Battle of Light and Dark, her
original encounter with the party doesn't go as planned. Still, she joins up

joins up. She's got great speed and skills, which makes her a formidible one
on the battlefield.

ii. BATTLING [BTLG]
___________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Grandia II has a unique battle system, that incorporates a time bar and lets
friend and foe use their attacks to block/cancel each others attacks, if they
are well-timed. Here is the various things you'll encounter during battle.
[CANCEL!]
This happens when a friend/foe is charging up a skill and a friend/foe uses
a skill that has a cancel effect. It stops the action from forming and sets
them back a ways on the action bar, effectively making their turn a dud. A
few monsters have normal attacks with cancel effects (i.e. Devil), so this
can go beyond simple skills.
[COUNTER!]
Countering is in the same vein as canceling, except the skill has to be at
the very right end of the action meter. For instance, if a monster chooses
to attack (i.e. its icon at the very right while it goes to reconcile its
choice), should a person attack it during that state, it will be "countered"
and be dealt more damage than normal, as well as having its turn disrupted a
bit. This works best with regular attacks, since magic/skills are often used
immediately. Countering can work with both skills and regular attacks.
[SURPRISED!]
This is the battle type that happens when a monster rushes the party and
touches someone besides Ryudo (the party leader, and who the player controls
on the field). When this happens, the monsters start lower down the action
gauge and the allies start at the very beginning; thus, the monsters act
quicker and get in all their turns before anyone can do anything. This is
the opposite of an initiative.
[INITIATIVE!]
This happens if Ryudo initiates battle on the field, and the monster doesn't
see it coming (if they do, they will glow red). This allows the allies to
begin the fight towards the end of the gauge (by the 'COM' point) while the
monsters start towards the very beginning. This often allows the allies to
get in all their attacks before the enemy, and is definitely a good thing.
___________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
iii. Abnormalities [BNRM]
___________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Status abnormalies occur in battle, and are inflicted by skills, magic, or
regular attacks. They're negative things that affect action in battle, so
here's the rundown:
[POISON]
Like most games, poison saps a person's HP. However, in this game, it's an
especially annoying trait because when taking damage, a person's progression
on the move game halts for a little while until they regain their bearing.
Use Halvah/Cure/Poison Antidotes to cure this, 'cause it lasts after the
battle's over and done with.
[SLEEP]
This causes the character's action on the action gauge to halt and actually
resets it to the end while they sleep. When attacked (or after enough time's
passed) s/he will wake up, and the same goes for enemy ranks. While it's not
very good to have on allies, on enemies it's a good method of canceling the
enemies' skills without having a cancel effect. Halvah magic will take
this off; it ends when battle's over, too.
[CONFUSION]
Confusion makes a target go wonky, attacking indiscriminantly against friend
or foe. Getting attacked doesn't take it off either; only time's flow and
Halvah magic does. When used on enemies, it's a good way to make them quit
using skills/magic for awhile.
[MOVE BLOCK]
"Moves" are an ally or enemy's inherent abilities, and when hit with move
block, those skills are unable to be used. Refresh/Move Blessing/Blessing
Scrolls take this off, but it doesn't cease to work after battle's complete;
make sure to get it off when possible, or prevent it! For characters like
Tio, who have many great skills, this can cripple some of their usefulness.
[MAGIC BLOCK]
Like its cousin, this skill-blocker targets magic only, preventing any of
those good/bad incantations from getting out. Obviously, since magic is used
in battle and itself is a way to cure status disorders, this is a rather
nasty one to be hit with in the heat of a skirmish. Cure it with Refresh or
a Magic Blessing/Blessing Scroll; it doesn't leave after battle.
[PARALYSIS]
Paralysis works like sleep, in that the character is incapacitated and their
bar reset to the beginning of the action gauge until they recover. Paralysis
only leaves after awhile or by using Cure/Halvah; the latter is the prefered
method of removal.
[PLAGUE]
The nastiest effect is also the hardest to remove and the rarest. Plague is
what you'd expect to see -- it makes a character disease-ridden and random
status disorders affect them (sleep, paralysis, move block, confusion, etc.)
in battle. This does not end after battle and Halvah does not cure it -- you
need to use a Vaccine to get this off. Sleeping at an inn takes it off, too,
I believe.
[FALLEN]
When a character bites the big one, they are KO'd and considered "fallen" in
battle. Use a Yomi's Elixir to cure them to full health, or use Resurrect
magic which has the same effect. Obviously any dead character is deadweight
and only intensifies the heat other characters take, so cure this ASAP.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
iv. ICONS [ICNS]
___________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Icons appear on the field and in battle. Here's what's up with 'em:
[IN BATTLE]
|
'-Counter!! - indicates counterdamage has been inflicted
'-Cancel - indicates a command has been canceled
'-Miss - indicates an attack of some sort has missed completely
'-Sway - indicates an attack has been evaded
'-X hits - indicates a current combo chain on an enemy ("X" = the number)
'-sweatdrop - indicates an attack could not be completed because the target
was too far away or the executor couldn't get to it in time
(NOTE: Sweatdrop is an icon, not said).
[ON THE FIELD]
|
'- Save icons - indicates a save/heal point can be used
'- Exclamation Point - indicate something can be pushed, inspected, etc.
'- Ladder - indicates a ladder can be taken to a new location
'- Checkered Hat - indicates this person can tell about the tutorials
'- Up-pointing Arrow - indicates one can use that location to jump somewhere

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
v. IP GAUGE EXPLANATION [IPGG]
___________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
* Everyone has their own ACT speed, which governs how fast they'll breeze
down the gauge (left -> right). Fast characters can often start in the
second third of the gauge, while slower characters will start in the
first. Note that depending on the battle type (surprise/initiative), one
may start further automatically or everyone starts at the 'WAIT' point.
* After completing an action, the character's icon returns to 'WAIT.'
* Upon getting to the "COM" point, a command can be entered. This is the
only time in the process one can be entered, and both enemy and ally have
to do this.
* After a command is given, the icon progresses towards the "ACT"ion point,
which is when the command given reconciles (i.e. occurs). Magic/commands
must "charge" up and go slower towards the point, while regular attacks
progress almost instantly.
* If something uses a skill/attack with a 'cancel' effect on a target that
has already input its command, and it hits, the target's command will be
void and the icon will be reset further down the gauge (moved left). How
far it'll go differs, but it's usually one-third of the gauge back for
normal attack and two-thirds if you cancel w/ a skill.
* If something attacks a character while his/her icon is at "ACT," a counter
will take place and the target receives extra damage than usual, as well
as having the skill's reconciling delay for a few seconds.
* A cancel and a counter CAN occur in one swoop. Just use a canceling skill
on an enemy whose icon is at "ACT."
___________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
vi. PARTY AI (ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE) [PRTY]
___________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Messing with your party AI -- the brains inside the characters' actions that
you DON'T command -- can be a blessing or a curse, depending on how you use
them. After selecting the type you want from the party menu ("AI"), select
"execute AI". If you forget which one you have, remember that the current AI
selection is shown beneath their names at the top of the battle screen. Here
are the settings and how you should use 'em. Note that while I'm describing
these as allies, one "AI" can be applied to everyone in the battle party.
[EACH OWN]
This makes characters act like their personality -- obviously there will be
a huge dichotomy here since everyone has wildly different actions they take.
For instance, Millennia will heavily rely on offensive skills and attacks;
this will drain her SP and MP very fast. On the other hand, Elena will play
to her strengths and use healing magic primarily.
[GO WILD]
This makes people kick off their training belts and use all their attacks
with no mind for conservation. It can be good in a bind, but is really for
early battling -- the term "offensive" is used for anything in this category
and no one will conveniently throw a canceling attack in there if you should
need it. I say avoid this, or at least change the AI in the late battle so
you've got more control over your attack types.
[MEANIE]
This is the manifestation of pushing an enemy into a mud puddle -- the ally
fights a bit dirty. Sometimes this results in just pummeling the enemy with
physical attacks, sometimes it means status-effect magic. The attacks are
really polarized, between usefulness and uselessness, so I don't recommend
this one too highly except for normal battles where this line of thinking
can actually lead to great results.
[PLAY FAIR]
This makes people forego their heavy skill/magic artillery and concentrate
on bringing the smackdown with physical attacks. This is good to use when
you are trying to keep your SP/MP reservoir intact, but it's also a good one
to choose if you have weapons that give stat-down abilities (lower ATK, etc)
on occasion. Of course, you can do this manually, so it's not that useful;
but, not as throw-caution-to-the-wind as the others.
[POWER UP]
Just as it sounds, an ally will use stat-raising abilities on his/herself
and camp out with some defensive measures. It's not that bad, but it can
result in wasted turns -- there is no "cream of the crop" to pick from here,
and a character may use something like Runner when it really doesn't matter
too much.
[SAFETY 1ST]
This is like firing a salvo of healing magic all the time. It's mainly to
prevent a quick death, and the frequent use of curative skills doesn't lend
much to winning a battle. If you're playing a low-level challenge or really
don't get the hang of battle, this may be the option for you; avoid it if
you have any idea of what you're doing, because these options can be done
manually without wasting a lot of MP.
[WITHDRAW]
This mainly calls for a character to use Evade and Defend options. While it
may seem to be pretty stupid, remember that Defend can nullify some types of
knockback and heavily decreases damage intake; Evade can be used to rob the
enemy of turns by drawing out their attack turn. In the heat of battle this
is kind of stupid, but if you have equipment that gives back HP/MP, or are
building up SP by getting attacked, this isn't such a bad idea.

vii. MENU OVERVIEW [MNVW]
___________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Here's what the various menu options do. Not much more to say about it than
that... (Note: See section '>_>
#################
[COMBAT COMMANDS]
#|###############
|
'- COMBO
|
| This lets a character do combination attacks. Under normal circumstances
| that character will unleash two physical attacks on one target, but with
| certain accessories, that amount can be raised to four in one go.
|
'- CRITICAL
|
| This command allows a character to take one (1) physical attack on an
| enemy but add a 'cancel' effect to it. If the enemy's already chosen
| their command, and the attack gets off in time, the command it chose
| will be voided and they'll start further down the IP gauge.
|
'- MOVES/MAGIC
|
| This is where magic and inherent skills are selected -- Use L1/R1 to
| cycle through the available ones. When inflicted with move/magic block,
| the appropriate skills will be grayed-out and unusable. Some equipment
| may have an effect similar to this.
|
'- ITEMS
|
| This command lets one use items, which include offensive as well as
| curative. By using L1/R1, one can also look at their current equipment,
| change their weapon, or change their current accessory/mana egg. Note
| that the rest of the equipment CANNOT be changed, and switching pieces
| of armor and such out takes up the turn.
|
'- DEFEND
|
| This allows a character to heavily decrease damage taken (by 66%?), and
| since it acts instantly, should be used liberally. For skills that throw
| a character up in the air or have knockback effects, this will nullify
| them and keep them standing (example: Tornado Horn, Hyper Buster).
|
'- EVADE
|
| This allows a character to move to preset points on the field. Since a
| bunch of enemies use physical attacks, and one can have their attack
| automatically null if they can't hit someone, this is a great way to
| waste their turn in a defensive manner. Also, some enemies magic are
| only aimed at one person; by running away to a vacant corner of the
| battlefield, you can save your allies from getting hit by area-of-effect
| spells and skills.
|
'- ESCAPE
|
| Escaping...well, it should be quite obvious. This allows one to flee the
| current battle (note: has to charge). Escaping isn't just for the wounded
| or wussy, though; by fleeing and re-initiating battle, the enemy's bells
| (icons in their window that indicate % of dropping treasure) will change,
| allowing one to get a very good item. This can be done an infinite number
| of times, and is a very helpful method when some enemies don't appear in
| great numbers. When the icon has a big red "X" over it, one cannot escape
| the battle (usually happens for mandatory/boss ones); besides that, feel
| free to put on some runnin' shoes.
|
'- AI
|
| AI is short for "artificial intelligence" and gives preset options for
| you to 'program' your characters with. The default is manual, where the
| player selects everything by hand. See the Party AI section for more on
| this stuff.
##########
FIELD MENU
#|########
|
'- ITEMS
|
| Here's where you can use curative items to heal the party when out of
| battle. Attack items cannot be used here, although regional ones can. One
| can also view their entire inventory, from valuables to armor to weapons.
|
'- EQUIP
|
| Here is where the allies in the current party (max: 4) can be equipped w/
| armor, helms, and other things from your inventory. Select a type of equip
| you want to stick on someone, select one of the pieces displayed, and it
| will be equipped from then on, or until you change it.
|
'- STATUS
|
| Here is where one can view a character's main stats, the lineup of their
| equipment, their experience level, their battle stats (ATK, etc.) and any
| status/elemental resistances. If you have any book skills on someone, they
| can also be viewed.
|
'- MOVE/MAGIC
|
| Here is where current skills and magic can be viewed on characters, if you
| have any eggs equipped that is. It's mostly just for looking, although the
| curative magic can be used in the field; curative skills cannot.
|
'- POWER UP
|
| This is where one goes to spend SC/MC and upgrade inherent skills/magics,
| respectively. Upgrading not only makes a magic more powerful, but on the
| IP Gauge, it acts faster. Some early skills, like Tenseiken Slash, when
| maxed-out, can act instantaneously, which is incentive enough to power it
| and others like it up.
|
'- SKILLEQUIP
|
| This is where you go stick book skills on characters. Once you've bought a
| few from the books (which are often boss drops or mini-game prizes), they
| can be stuck on a character. These skills are passive, meaning you cannot
| select them in battle, and act as stat-boosters and bestow skills. Some
| may increase HP ("Life Up"), some may make enemies drop better loot more
| often ("Pirate's Ring"), etc. Very useful, although sometimes you'll have
| re-equip a person if they re-join a party. You'll see what I mean if you'
| play. =)
|
'- CONFIG
|
| Here's where you can mess around with the controller configuration and the
| like. Here's how it goes, with the default in brackets:
|
| * Toggle O-button to dash ---> [Run] / Walk
| * L1 button makes screen rotate ---> [Right] / Left
| * Sound output ---> [Stereo] / Monaural
| * Change screen position ---> [Default] / Adjust
|
| The first three are obvious, but for the fourth, choosing to adjust means
| that not everything shows on your screen. Definitely take advantage of the
| reconfiguration here if you're missing out on seeing something crucial for
| playing.

___________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
These are hints and stuff that I've tried myself and find to be pretty good
pearls of wisdom. If you (the reader) have any really good ones I've missed,
I'll add 'em in. Also, thanks for the Grandia II board for submitting some
of these initially -- a few proved to be pretty good, once I tried 'em (see:
CONTRIBUTIONS + THANKS section).
<> The Holy, Gravity, Soul, and Fairy Eggs can use the 'Alhealer' ability,
which is the best curative move in the game. This should be the first
goal you try to accomplish when learning new skills.
<> Some books teach passive skills that boost magical abilities inherently,
at a percentage level. While you may think this is a good way to bring out
the murdering magics, don't forget that this raises a certain TYPE's
potency. Meaning...curative magics work way better as well. Use a skill
that boosts water-type for Alhealer, for instance, and you can be curing
1000+ early on and 2500+ in the late game!
<> Enemies have "treasure bells" that appear in their windows you can look
at (a window is that thing that displays their HP and stuff). These bells
are indicative of their drop chances, of you getting a rarer item than the
normal stuff. They range from 0-3, with three being the best change. Now,
while this appears at a very crappy chance, by running away from the enemy
ranks and re-entering battle, the bells will be randomly assigned again!
This means if you want a rare drop, you can fight the first enemy in the
area, check, flee, re-enter, check, flee, etc. until you get the kind of
chance you'll want. Note that three bells is not a 100% success chance,
and that zero bells is not a 0% success chance, but you'll want everything
to be in your favor, particularly since some enemies have rare equipment
on their person.
<> Lotus Flower is the best canceling skill you'll get, because it affects a
line (some enemies), acts instantaneously, and costs relatively little SP
when given some SP-reduction equipment (Divine Talisman, etc.). Of course,
you will have to power it up to max to get this huge boost in alacrity,
but it's definitely worth it for those quick cancels.
<> When leveling your mana eggs, raise the cheapest abilities first, such as
Diggin', Def-Loss, and other stat-downers. Because leveling up one type
does not affect whether a new skill of that type appears, it's best to
abuse this stupid system and max out the cheapest first, which will give
you new skills sooner.
<> Note that killing a multi-part boss does not have to be a huge, laboring
task -- once the main part is killed, the battle automatically ends. This
does not slight you in the way of missed drops, SC/MC/Gold, or anything
else either -- you get the same amount of everything as if you'd spent
twice as long fighting!
<> Cheap status-effect spells like Snooze can work wonders in battles where
you're at a disadvantage, number-wise. It seems like some bosses would be
immune to this and others, but they can often affect their cronies and on
occasion, some of their auxiliary parts. Try inflicting Move/Magic Block
on a boss' parts; sometimes this helps a lot, sometimes it will waste its
attack turn using Refresh. It can really go in your favor if it hits.
<> Millenia's berserk status in battle (displayed by the intensity of the
light surrounding her portrait) can be downright awful, considering it
makes you lose control of her action. But, it does refill her SP to full
and gives her a free turn instantly, which is usually either Taint of
Wind, Fallen Wings, or another skill she's learned. If you handicap her
by not learning any other skills, she won't have much to choose from,
and will get an immediate offensive turn off.
<> Tio's known for being speedy, and her initial equipment shows this since
it boosts her evasion rate (35%, IIRC). If you leave this stuff on, and
skill-equip her with Abandonment(s), Aim for Counter, and some HP-buffs,
she will be near-impossible to hit with physical attacks and will then
counter those ones. Lotus Flower + SP-reduction equipment makes this
'broken' character's strengths even more apparent -- she's the Orlandu
of the game, nearly!
<> In the game's last dungeon, you won't be able to leave again. However,
an enemy inside (Killer Tree) can drop Omnipotent and All-Around Nuts,
which boost multiple stats at a time. You can grind for awhile to farm
these, using the flee-and-see method of changing their treasure bells,
which makes the most out of their appearances. If you're planning on
boosting all characters, don't waste all of them at once -- save a few
to use later...

to wait for the priest to kickstart the discussion about Elena. Turns out the
Songstress of Granas needs to be escorted to that tower in the woods, where
the other sisters went. Return to the church front to pick her up, and return
to the southern exit.
It'd be wise to pick up some Wound Salves. Elena can heal, but only in-battle
as her equips can't be tampered with currently.

his own tested as well as two Dodos appear.

After taking the enemies to the great birdhouse in the sky, continue down the
path.
[BLACK FOREST 2]
Two more dodos attack here, but they are the same as before. Get the [50G]
bag and the [MYRAID POWER NUT] in the northern/southern extremeties. Leave
afterwards. Garmia Tower is now an option, although you can return to Carbo
and buy stuff/heal up if you took a lickin'.
Approach the tower anterior to join up with the Sisters of Granas. Elena will
leave the party and Ryudo will have to wait around. Finally, after a time, he
will grow impatient and enter the tower. Err, you make him do that part. =)
o---------------------o
| LEGEND | The first floor and third floors are displayed above,
o---------------------o while the second one is omitted -- it's just a simple

| 3 - Wind Charm | Anyway, on the first floor, flanking the save room

o---------------------o offers level-two wind resistance. Only Mottled Spider
enemies appear here; three Gargoyles appear soon.
On the third floor, the enemies start up again. This place is demolished, so
the layout is changed from before. Head to the southern peremeter path and
head NE into the closed-off portion for [150G] currency. Save at the northern
save cone and get the last treasure, a [WOUND SALVE], in the stuffed-up path
south of there.
*****************************************************************************
NOTE: If you want the Sword of Purity drop from Gargoyles, go through the
top floor without fighting any and save. Then fight the three on that
floor and the two on the next. They do NOT respawn and don't appear for
a long time. The sword has +40 attack, so get it wheile you can!!!!!!!!
*****************************************************************************
Two at once is a bit of a task, but so long as you guard/critical when one
uses Howslash (Howl isn't that bad), it's not too hard. Take it one at a time
and use Tenseiken Slash to give you an edge. If you're shooting for the Sword
of Purity, this battle has more treasure "bells" than the others, usually --
you need three of them to have a good chance at getting the sword, though.
Afterwards, talk to Tessa and try to open the locked door. Then, go over to
the stained-glass window and smash that sucker. View the scenes here and
Ryudo will escort Elena back to Carbo.

|___________________________________________________________________________|
There's no real strategy. She'll cast a few skills and then use "Zap!". That
ends the battle, whether Ryudo's KO'd, paralyzed, or not. Of course, don't
TRY to be KO'd...
Watch the scenes afterwards and Ryudo will be get a new mission: to escort
Elena to Pope Zera Innocentius, far away in the papal state. Elena's now an
actual member of the party and comes with a "Holy Egg," which allows her to
use an array of magic.
NOTE: Before setting out, there's also a kid in the left side of town who'll
donate a Poff Nut when talked to.
There are various mushrooms around here, which Ryudo will have to cut with
the action button. Some have items inside, while some cover Crag Snake dens,
so try to get the ones on the map without additional strife. All the items
around here are found in mushrooms, except the [150G] deposit near the entry
point. Trek up the cliffside and find the exit there, among all the Dodos.
[INOR MOUNTAINS 2]
After making camp, head down the lowroad and get the [50G] cache; then, take
the highroad to a ladder up. There will be a large chest surrounded by rocks,
so you can't get to it...however, if you head east up the incline to a seesaw
with a boulder on it -- inspect it to bowl the rocks over below. Give the
same treatment to the rock a little more east for a [CLIMBING HAT] and get
the [150G] in a nearby space. Return below to get the large chest, containing
a [POISON ANTIDOTE], [YOMI'S ELIXIR], and [CRYSTAL BROOCH].
From there, it's heading north through the serpentine canyon. If you see a
board with rocks on it, inspect its pegs to pound them in; if you don't, the
rocks will fall when you're underneath and block off the easiest route. But,
it's straightforward from there, so as long as you keep your bearings, the
way's clear.
At this point in the game, check out the Holy Egg and see how many Mana Pts.
(MC) have been earned. You can do this by going to the "PowerUp" option on
the menu and hitting R1. Start investing points

that the "circus brat" (Roan) has run off on his own into the cave. She joins
with her own equipment and magical egg (Chaos Egg), too. Save where Vyx's
standing and head through the barricade outside, looking for a cave on the NW
side of the rock wall.
And, make sure to equip that Holy Egg on Ryudo!

When the stalactites drop and make a path, head east to a save point and a
room where Ryudo finds a small squirrel-like creature. Get the [FIREBOMB]
by one of the crates. Continue north to a jump point and roll the boulder
into the wall -- this starts a mandatory fight with four Crag Snakes. In
the adjacent cavern, a [MEDICINAL HERB] is waiting to be picked -- hit that
switch, too, to lower the sluice gates and raise the nearby bridge.
Cross the bridge to another [MEDICINAL HERB] and head north to a slanted
rock that can be knocked off, to form a makeshift path-connector. There's a
[YOMI'S ELIXIR] behind one of the crates. Return to the switch and slap it
to its original position; then, take the rock path you made to the other
bridge. Get across the sluiceway and find the [100G] bag sitting pretty by
the bank.
Next door is a "monster box," where you can't leave until the two Frost
Frogs have been defeated. Millenia's "Burn!" is the equivalent of shoving
a firecracker up their rear, so use that. When the gates open, run south to
the sluice-side treasures: [SLEEP CHARM] and a [POFF NUT]. Return to the
room with the portcullis trio and exit north.
[DURHAM CAVE 2]
As soon as you enter, there's a mandatory battle.

Millenia's "Burn!" can pretty much halve one's HP, and Ryudo's Tenseiken
Slash can do about 1/3 their HP. Shouldn't be too difficult, if you've got
the technique of defending/cancelling down. Sleep Spawn is a nuisance but
does poor damage, anyway. See that flashing aura around Millenia's name at
the top of the screen? That's her, uh, annoy-o-meter. The more she's knocked
around and stuff boosts that up until she goes berserk and starts using her
most powerful skills without the player's control. One monster has a 100%
Mist Egg drop, too.
Afterwards, the kid Ryudo saved...is the kid who ran away into the mine from
before! What a surprise. Luckily, this boy (Roan) isn't a pushover -- he can
join the party! Equip the Mist Egg to him and head east.
There is a [CALMING HARP] inside a "monster box" room -- Crag Snakes drop
when you pluck the bounty up. North, pond-side, is another [MEDICINAL HERB]
and on the east wall is a portcullis trio and a switch. The southern of the
three is a [300g]; the northernmost is a [100g] bag. The middle one, where
one has to depress the switch by putting a block on it, is a pond-draining
switch, enabling one to continue to the west side of the pond.
Get on the west side where a [POFF NUT] is. North, jump down the ledge to a
battle with some Troglodytes. When their hides are tanned, flip the bridge's
switch and get the [TORTE'S REEDPIPE] by the save point. Kick the boulder
into the abyss to brook a path back to the east side of the pond. NE is the
exit.
[DURHAM CAVE DEPTHS]
Approach north to find a baddie waiting for yous guyz.

HP amount is a little daunting, but... =)
Whoever has the Chaos Egg should repeatedly cast Stram (ATK -2) on the boss;
make this the first priority. Then, use Fallen Wings/Zap! to take out the
annoying Troglodytes, before they can use their sleep skills, hopefully. A
third character should be the designated healer to recover people from the
Tornado Horn's status abnormalities. Once the lackeys are dead, one can get
by using Critical over and over, which lowers the chance it ever gets its
skill off. Zap! is also quite effective on the monster, doing 700+ dmg.
You'll be notified that a skill book was won, which you can level up just and
use on your characters -- think of them as passive skills/augments. Backtrack
to the cave entrance in Durham Cave 1 to leave.
REMINDER: The Adventure Book has a skill called "Pirate's Ring" (last one
learned) that makes enemies drop items more often. Invest some SC
and get that when possible!!!!
Outside, Millenia exits the party and Elena eventually rejoins. After some
barroom scenes, you can Agear entirely. Head north into the once-barricaded
area and find the green-haired NPC, who will give the party a [POFF NUT] for
their good efforts slaying the monsters. This /should/ be your fourth one --
with these, you can make Carro follow you around and light up the way. Don't
waste it on the one in Durham Cave, naturally...
*****************************************************************************
NOTE: If you wanna learn about skill books, ask the guy in the shopkeeper hut
*****************************************************************************
Anywho, head north through the barricade and enter the Baked Plains.
Save point is right nearby, behind a feeble-looking bunch of rock pillars.
Use the action button to cut 'em down. West, get the [200G] bag and the [SEED
OF RUNNING] at the bend, then head up the incline straight east to a [600G]
find. On the western side, break some more mud pillars and get the incredible
[DASH SHOES], which you should probably put on Elena. Due east of there's a
[600G] bag. And, SE of the exit, is another [200G] bag by a [SEED OF PSYCHE].
In case you haven't been following, these seeds permanently increase stats,
so don't skip 'em.
[BAKED PLAINS 2]
More seeds 'round here. A [SEED OF POWER]'s near the NW corner, and a [SEED
OF DEFENSE] on the ledge east of there. Keep heading east to a sour-lookin'
pond with a huge chest on it -- [HEALING HERB] + [NORTH WIND CAPE] + [POISON
CHARM] for you! The [200G] bag southeast of there needs some lovin' before
you go up to the northwest corner of the area.
There are a few rinkydink gold deposits around here -- [600G] + [200G] -- and
a couple of seeds, too. The [POFF NUT] is on the embankment overlooking the
NW corner (about), while the [SEED OF MAGIC] is in the far northeast corner.
Only the [SEED OF SWIFT], in a tree's tiny dead-end path, is hard to spot;
swivel the camera around or mash the action button to pluck it. Then, break
for the exit.
[BAKED PLAINS 3]
Save and nead up a bit -- the party will gaze in awe at the Granacliffs. An
airship/trolley/thingy rises up, showing that transportation does occur, so
everyone camps out -- talk 'round the fire to end the dialogue. Wake up the
next morning to eggs, sausage, and -- aiyeee!

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
[LILIGUE CAVE 1]
That's the part that's the eastmost tunnel series on the map. All the items
-- being the [400G], [HEALING HERB], [MOGAY BOMB], [PURIFYING HERB, and the
[1200G] -- are all found in dead ends. Monsters of Christmases past (:p) are
also found here, including the Giant Mantis, Crag Snake, and Frost Frog. It
shouldn't be too hard to rip 'em up with Maret's axe getting to the point.
[LILIGUE CAVE 2]
This part's really short, although it's only a splinter from the main rooms.
Get the [1200G] chest by the few enemies. Remember that the Gargoyle can
drop a Sword of Purity, which is +40 ATK and good against undead enemies.
Exit through the wall back into the tunnel series.
[LILIGUE CAVE 1]
Back in the short western section of here, there's a [REFLECTION RING] right
at the first junction and another [MOGAY BOMB] at the western dead end. Go
southeast to exit.
[LILIGUE CAVE 2]
Back in the hand-crafted part of the caverns. Ghouls appear around here with
Gargoyles, so watch out. Head down the seemingly straightforward passage to
a monolith and a button -- stepping on it opens three passages in the walls,
leading to the three orbs you have to get.
The nearest is the blue one (SW on map), which is only guarded by one group
of enemies. North-northeast a bit is the green orb's room, with two more
treasures: a [BONDS OF TRUST] & [CONFUSION CHARM]. NW of there leads to a
walkway and another room. On the (hallway-)side of that room, is the biggest
chest for the dungeon: a [FLAMBERGE] sword, [FIRE PENDANT], and a remarkable
[HOLY WOUND SALVE]. Go inside the room, now.
There are some boxes in here you can move around. The one movable box can
be moved in two directions initially; move it against the second box, so you
make an l-shaped formation. Get the [POFF NUT] behind it and move the boxes
back to make the 3x1 formation -- you won't get a (!) notification on doing
this, but you don't have to leave the room like the monolith outside says.
Turn on the last red orb to make the monolith by the button disappear.
Return to the three lit-up orbs (by button) and turn on the fourth, a yellow
one, to make the large door open.
[LILIGUE CAVE 3]
Go up the side of the Granacliffs and recover/save. I suggest using the MC
points you've gained up (save first) and try to learn Alhealer on the Holy
and/or Mist Eggs -- the skill heals all allies on the field and is rather
indispensible down the line.
[LILIGUE CAVE, CAVERNS]
Redundant title, almost... A Seal of Valmar here has been broken, and then
Millenia shows up. Equip her with a mana egg and the [BURNING BOW] you get
in the large chest by the room exit, along with the [FLARE DRESS]. The
[SMELLING SALTS] aren't that useful. NOTE: Millenia will take the items you
equip her with when she leaves (for obvious reasons), so if you want any
other girls you have to use them, hold off.
[LILIGUE CAVE, TEMPLE]
Time to die, vile...crab...uh...fiend!!

Wowee zowee, four parts! This is how the rest of the Valmar battles will be,
so you'd better get used to a huge melee. Fortunately, the skirmish ends if
you kill the main part -- the tongue, in this case -- so you can actually
ignore all the rest and bash that one.
Cast Diggin' and WOW! on Mareg/Ryudo, and make sure to use Def-Loss/Stram on
Valmar, mostly the Tongue. Counter Freeze with Runner, and if you know Cold,
make sure to use that on all parts (the ones you're killing anyway). The
claws aren't too hard, but the head will cast most of the magic, so taking
that out first is a great idea (Freeze is cast by the tongue, though).
This shouldn't be _too_ hard for first-time players; the real problem is
having enough MP/SP to make it a quick fight. Thus, why you should learn the
Alhealer spell on (at least) one person so there doesn't have to be constant
healing and wasted MP going around. "Shhh!" works on the tongue, also. =)
After some nice scenes that "stir the soul," Millenia will leave again. Next
time you meet, you'll be able to learn the Tongue's "Starving Tongue" attack!
Anyway, back to town you go.
After seeing Gadan, equip Elena with the egg of choice and head for the
skyway station. Approach the landing's stairs, watch the engineer's scenes,
and you can proceed on. Note that if you're doing a perfect game run or
something, you will NOT be able to return to the part of the continent you
are on now -- EVER. =p
Anyway, things never go as planned and everyone ends up at...
After Elena rejoins the party, head through the snowy trees (movement is now
reduced in snowbanks!) and find the path east to the Granacliffs' edge, also
where a [LUMIR FEATHER] can be found. Head back to the main branch and opt
for the northwest area; the dead-end by the exit has a [400g] purse.
[LUMIR FOREST]
This is the forest proper, now. Save and seek out the [INSECTICIDE BOMB] and
[1200G] drops around, which are only guarded by a few Big Foot enemies. Spy
the cavern entrance in the west, and take it to the...
[LUMIR FOREST, CAVERN 1]
Cut the roots with the action button (you'll have to do this a lot) to break
through the stuffed-up path. At the fork, take the northern "branched" route
to a [1200G] pot. Down the fork's other option, one can find a large room w/
three more paths to take. The southern two lead to a room with Giant Crabs
in it, and a [400G] bag; even further south, the two paths conjoin near a
growing [LUMIR FLOWER]. The east way is the one to go.
However, on the northern side of that hallway is a secretive path that leads
to a [ODD WOODEN CLOGS] drop. Take the main corridor back into...
[LUMIR FOREST]
Get the [400G] post north of the cavern exit and loop south to the base of
a large tree. A [1200G] jackpot is stashed in a dead end nearby, but leaving
is as simple as jumping into the hole at the trunk's bottom.
[LUMIR FOREST, CAVERN 2]
You enter through the large room's middle (ASCII "C" on the map), and by
slashing the roots around, you can lower the four new entrances and the
way back up the trunk-hole. Get the [ORACLE'S STAFF] in the east and slash
a path east to a north/south trunk. The dead end has a [400G] check w/ your
name on it. Straight north is an [INSECTICIDE BOMB], and from there, its
west; take the north fork. There's a secret passage that leads to a [1200G]
pot, but besides that, take it straight on out.
[LUMIR FOREST]
Only a few patrolling Big Foot 'round here. Get the [400G] and a [BLUEBERRY]
under some trees' eaves to the east. There's also a large chest submerged in
a snowpile, containing a [ARCTIC CAPE], [ICEFANG STONE], and [ICE PICK] for
Roan. Follow the path north to see a bright light... Odd. Enter the...
[GARDEN OF DREAMS]
Watch the scenes and return to the previous area.
[LUMIR FOREST]
Back where you saw the light, there is a path east now. The nearby hamlet
is the destination.

¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
Watch the opening scenes and head to the inn, where you're greeted by Irina.
To recap: the village is having a problem with people falling asleep and into
comatose states, and it's happening in random fashion, it seems... The people
blame Sandra and her daughter Aira for bringing a curse to the village; the
little girl regained her eyesight after...prayers were answered... >______>
Yeah, it's going to get Salem up in here real fast.

For awhile, you won't be able to leave town, so upgrade your equips at the
town store [LINK: SHP4] and talk to Irina again -- spend the night. After a
few events, have Ryudo look out his window and check on Irina. Having done
this, the cave entrance near Sandra's house will be un-barrel-blocked and
everyone can insert themselves at that fissure. =)
This place will be far easier if you learn a few good hit-all attacks, like
"Zap All" for instance (on Chaos Egg). Alhealer will be useful, too, so if
you don't have it, try to get it on the Holy Egg at least.

| Delta Burst - 4-bat combo attack for phys damage (single) |
|___________________________________________________________________________|
"Fiora" stops Delta Burst (laughably), so cast it on EVERY BAT -- as long
as there is one without the status, it can use Delta Burst with its allies.
Besides that, use Diggin'/Def-Loss to give your team an edge, and Snooze to
incapacitate the enemies for awhile (use this throughout). Use WOW! on Ryudo
and Maret, then have 'em use their SP-consuming skills. Fiora really takes
the bite out of this battle, and with Alhealer covering your back, it should
not be as 'even' a fight as the numbers make it out to be. "Zap!" is also a
humiliating way to take 'em out en masse, since it can inflict paralysis. =)
After returning to town, word gets around that Selene wants everyone to meet
at the town hall. Heal/save, watch what goes down at the hall, and return
towards the fissure. Aira summons everyone to the shed behind her house, and
there's a hole that leads right to...the seal of Granas at the fissure...
As the garden party ends, return to the Sandra's house, see even MORE speech
scenes, and equip Millenia with the mana egg lying around. Visit the Garden
of Dreams' center tree and approach the purple portal by the seal. This leads
to the next destination.
NOTE: Buy Lumir Flowers/Blueberries/Healing Herbs/Etc. before going in 'cause
you WILL NOT be able to leave until the events there are over! If you
don't realize the meaning of this, if you go in unprepared, you can get
screwed enough to start the game over. Consider it a warning. ^_______^
This map may be a _little_ off, direction-wise, but you can counter it
by aligning the camera to the map's way (mostly speaking about 2nd half
of figure which isn't shown at a -45 degree slant). =/
The boss here is also hard, so you'll want to use your earned SP to max out
the skill books' Life Up and Magic Power abilities. They will be incredibly
useful, believe you me.

The fluffy, cloud-like ground here gives off a misty appearance, so it's a
bit hard to keep directions straight. Luckily, there are pillars and stuff
that act as landmarks, so it's not so hard (the path is straightforward, to
boot). Save only if you're prepared for the road ahead, remember; you won't
be able to leave if you commit.
Anyway, west of the save point building's a [SILVER FEATHER] bag, the first
gimme item. Take the fluff-trail east until it loops west, where there's a
[500G] coinpurse around for the taking. Head directly west to the platform's
corner to spy a [YOMI'S ELIXIR]; go directly south to find along the edge of
the...uh, floor to find a normal-looking walkway west.
At the split, go north to a [RED SHOES] drop (how'd they get there!?) and
take the other branch back to some cloudy floor material. There's a [500G]
bag sitting around for no reason (penny for her thoughts? :D), but nothing
else besides. Continue north to a lamppost-orb hybrid object that summons a
giant whale -- this takes everyone northeast automatically. Get the [1500G]
drop by the turncrank thingamajigger and go right to the exit, being the
spherical object a little to the north.
[AIRA'S SPACE 2]
Hellhounds drop Ogre Slayer swords [+55 ATK] -- only place to get them!!!
---
Head north through the marsh-like region to find an "eyeball bridge," which
you can clear by...uh, unplugging the squishy thing. A little west of the
entrance is a big chest -- [ILLUSION CLOTHES], [BONDS OF TRUST], [MIRAGE
EARRING] -- that shouldn't be missed, and in the easternly region's a bridge
that leads to a [BATTLE MANICURE]. There are two exits in the north; the NW
one leads to a [500G] bag, and the other leads to another marsh 'platform.'
Take it to an area with an actual fence, and get the [MOEBIUS RING] on its
exterior. Inside the fenced-in portion, take the branch to a [1500G] chest.
From there, loop north around the eyeball-plastered pillar and use ladders
to get further south. A [500G] pouch lies by the fence here, and upon going
inside the fence, a mandatory battle with four Hellhounds commences (heal up
before going inside!). From there, save/heal if you want and the entrance to
the boss area shows up. Learn Alhealer before you enter!!! THIS IS IMPORTANT
FOR WINNING 4EVERMORE. :D
Also, do not give the egg with Alhealer on it to Millenia. If you've got in
the heat of battle, you know how she goes on auto-mode when pissed off. The
last thing you need is her having no MP, y'dig? Also:
+ Put Life Up on Roan
+ Put Life Up on Ryudo
+ Put Magic Power on Millenia
If you lack SP/MC, go back and kill whatever monsters are left, should you
have skipped any.
You counted right: seven enemy targets. Obviously, you'll want to take out
the Eyeball Bats first -- use Fiora to block their Delta Burst attack from
getting off the ground, and use Snooze to get in some beating time. Work on
using Diggin' on everyone while using Stram on all the tendrils/eye parts,
and keep your HP above 600+ for normal use (Crackle takes off about 500).
Whoever has Alhealer should NOT be wasting MP for the most part, since you
will have to be flexible. Remember that the bats are susceptible to sleep,
which can take out over 400dmg per turn -- Snooze is cheap and affordable.
Casting Cold on Valmar's parts will also play a big part here, since three
skills in a row can kill just about any character -- spam it! Once the
bats are gone, you can work on the tendrils (optional), whose attacks are
heavily reduced by a full Diggin' on everyone. Use Vitality March to cure
the status disorders, and remember to critical Spellbinding Eye/Crackle if
you can (shouldn't be too hard with -5 ACT). And, when only the eye is left
to deal with, one can constantly critical it and it shouldn't get off too
many attacks. Strangely, it can use Heal but only does it on the bats...
Anyway, there are seven parts here and, no matter how other guides make it
sound, this fight can take quite a long time. And, this will be the last
boss fight you trudge through with a disadvantage, since you win a mana egg
after it's done. Just use-'n'-abuse Snooze/Stram/Def-Loss and --ESPECIALLY--
Cold here, and this battle is taken down a peg.
At battle's end, the town is restored and Millenia will be able to use the
"Spellbinding Eye" technique she won, provided you purchase it for her. Also
equip Elena with accessories/eggs, and put the fourth one on a character.
After talking with Selene by the inn, everyone can pile into the car, get on
the world map, and head southwest to...

[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, BASE]
Monsterless zone here, near the save point. Get the [GUARD MUSHROOM] by the
water before advancing up the zig-zag incline to the exit. There's a [500G]
stringpurse along the way.
[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, CAVERNS]
There are three passages here. The northern middle one leads to a dead end
with a [SCATTERING STONE]; the right, a [500G] drop; the left, a [MOGAY

[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, BASE]
Dead end here, with a [SEED OF LIFE] amidst some Big Foot enemies. Backtrack
to the previous room and take the western exit.
[ST. HEIM MOUTNAINS, BASE]
Follow the passage up to the waterfall and look for the entrance half-hidden

[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, CAVERNS]
There's a [500G] and a [SCROLL OF ALHEAL] sitting around here. Instead of
backtracking to exit, take the one in the western portion.
[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, BASE]
Just a chest here, with a [LION FIELD GARB] to use. Double-back two rooms

[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, CAVERNS]
Approach the large circular, flat area and the party will stay the night.
Save when the morning comes and get the [1500G] recepticle down by the lower
dead-end. There are two exits here -- take the one that goes to the falls.
[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, WATERFALL]
Score! A [BATTLE MANICURE]/[SILVER FEATHER]/[GODSPEED RING] can all be found
in a large chest here, but nothing besides. Backtrack to the save room and
take the other exit.
[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, BASE]
Get the [1500G] up the trail, which leads to another entrance into...
[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, CAVERNS]
Pick up the [YOMI'S ELIXIR] near where the party comes and look for a brown
rock, which one can push to gain access to a lower level. There are a few
Hammerheads running near a pair of [MACH BOOTS]. Go back up the rock 'stair'
and continue 'round the bend, where there's a [500G] bag before the exit.
[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, HALFWAY UP]
Everyone camps here...again (it's hard work, folks). Recover/save when the
sun rises get the [500G] up the dirtpath and look at the pond nearby. There
is an object in there, and when you push the stone above it onto the water's
source, you can go down at get it. "It" being a [DRAGONSLAYER AXE], natch.
Further on the road, there's a [HOLY WOUND SALVE] and the exit.
[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, BASE]

[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, WATERFALL]

[ST. HEIM MOUNTAINS, HALFWAY UP]
Another [500G] bag dots the path, then winds to a [1500G] chest. Near where

able to clear the mountains in their entirety. Sorry for no map, but this

|_| ¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯ HILLS 1 |
S
[RAUL HILLS 1]
This place is sprawling, so do your best to keep directions. Head north by
the pondside to find the save point and a fence by a [THUNDER RING]. Go due
east to find another pondside by a building in ruins. Near where the bridge
enters the environs, a little northwest is a [BUSTER FLAIL] for Elena. Down
around the south side is a [1500G] cache.
Now, inside the large castle ruin is a maze of walls, where Dragonoids and
Twin Ogres rollick. There's a [500G], [BLACKQUARTZ HELM], [1500G], and the
[EARTHEN CUIRASS] scattered around here. Make your way north through there
to the grass, and find the [500G] in the west before exiting.
[RAUL HILLS 2]
There are a bunch of puffy...puffball things here, which Ryudo can slice up.
Sometimes there will be nuts/seeds inside, sometimes Chameleons will come
out. The two nearest the entrance have a [WEAKNESS NUT] and [GOLDEN NUT] in
'em. Inside the region before the bridge's plants:
* [SEED OF PSYCHE]
* [SEED OF DEFENSE]
* [SEED OF POWER]
* [MYRIAD POWER NUT]
* [REVIVAL GEM]
You'll find a gigantic treasure chest by the northern fork. To get to it,
break the two rocks adjacent to it and climb up. Inside is the [QUAKE STONE]
[RAGE RING], and [SCROLL OF ALHEAL]. Now cross the bridge to get to the next
half of the area.
In the NW corner's the [GOLDEN NUT], and near the boat dock, [SEED OF MAGIC]
can be found. Don't take the boat yet, though -- continue south back into a
part of Raul Hills 1 that wasn't accessible before.
[RAUL HILLS 1]
Just run around here, popping bubble-plants and claiming the items, which
are:
Once you've claimed all the items, return back a screen.
[RAUL HILLS 2]
Take the boat by the river, which trucks to a northern bank. There's only a
[PATIENCE NUT] and [GOLDEN NUT], and from there, you can exit onto the world
map again. Whew, good job.
Check out the equipment shop [LINK: SHP6] and stay the night at the inn. Note
that you can get a +80 ATK sword soon, so stave off on buying the Claymore if
you want my advice (you need to _earn_ sword!). Roan will leave temporarily
to go visit his home, and the innkeeper directs ya'll to the bazaar to search
out info. This is a good time to find Mark at the docks and get a [POFF NUT],
if y'talked to his father first.
______ Take a left at the northern fork, and
| GFSH| ___ enter the bazaar square. Here, one can
| | ___[H4]__ | play a goldfish game (piece of crap
[CSTL] TENT|_| __ ___| game -- avoid it!) and get a fortune
| _____| | |____ told.
|______| | ____[PORT]
__| |__ You'll want to find Hemble near the
[H3 H2] juice stand, the man the innkeeper was
| |__ speaking about. Enter the tent when he
| H1] permits it...
____| |____
[SHOP INN] This Hemble guy is a bit...uh...weird,
¯¯¯¯|_|¯¯¯¯ and demands that Ryudo play a game of
arm wrestling to show his strength. To
play, use R1 to add power to the arm. Pulling it hard makes the "POWER" meter
stronger than Hemble's, but saps the "ENDURANCE" Bar. Be careful that the bar
for Endurance doesn't drop to zero! Keep pushing the X button to restore your
endurance (can't use at same time as R1). If you can't get it the first time,
don't worry -- Elena stalls him with cosmetic problems and Ryudo wins. ^___^
Hemble doesn't know anything about the Divine Sword, though.
Watch some park bench scenes Ryudo will be able to go get some juice at the
stand next to Hemble's informant tent. Pick the fourth one ("[ ]") to
get some juice. You can also re-enter Hemble's tent and win prizes for the
arm-wrestling game, including some rare unique items.
How I won each time was watching the arm (not the bars) and quickly pressing
the X-button twice and the R1 button once for a moment, so that each time it
would lower Hemble's arm a little but not drain all my stamina. It seems to
get a little harder each time, so you might consider using two hands to do
it (press 'em like triplets in 4/4 time, I guess).

| Optional: Goldfish Game | -- Verbatim from: LancetJades
|¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯|
| If you talk to the person near the MAU Tribe setup, you can learn (if you |
| say you do want to hear the secret) how to win the Goldfish Game. You can |
| then win a Poff Nut by taking Elena there BEFORE seeing Hemble (let Elena |
| do the fishing). After Millenia appears, you can get ANOTHER Poff Nut by |
| letting her play the Goldfish game (for two total). Millenia's MUST be |
| done before triggering the scene with the MAU Tribe, otherwise Roan and |
| Mareg rejoin, and you're locked out of the game. A very narrow window. |
|___________________________________________________________________________|
After the fifth time, he'll say he can't beat you and you'll stop receiving
prizes ('cause he stops playing). Millenia joins when you return back to the
park bench (equip egg and skills again!) and return towards the inn. The two
other party members rejoin too, saying to head for the castle. Use the boat
behind House #4 on the map above to get there.
Once at the castle, talk to the soldier (Paulk) to gain entrance to Cyrum's
castle cellar.
In the first room is a Carro, who will tag along and light up the place for
three Poff Nuts. Save in the first vertical passage and push a crate nearby
to continue south. At the fork, head west to a ladder, leading to a girl-
-only [LIGHTNING TIARA]. Double-back, take the south passage.
There's a [2100G] container by the new enemy, Skull Snail, group here. Once
they're pushin' daisies, wrap around the bend and shove one of the crates in
the sluiceway, creating a makeshift path. In the westerly way, look for a
corner hiding an [ELECTRUM STONE]. Use the next switch to get to the long
vertical passage, where there's a [SILVER FEATHER] in the south. North, the
second sluiceway switch can be found, brooking the way east. Get the [700G]
north of there before crossing.
Use the only workable ladder and turn east to another gateswitch, directly
opposite the save point. Crank it open, get the [MAGICAL BRACE] and take the
shorter middle fork to a last switch, which reworks the second one to open
the western gate beside. Follow it (Carro leaves shortly after, if you have
it) and in the dead-end room, search the (!) mark by the wall to enter the
castle proper.
---
Save/recover here and enter the demon-sealing door by where the wall opened
up. After being introduced to Menory, it's time to pay dear ol' daddy a
visit in the audience chamber. Enter the king's office from there, then get
back downstairs. Menory's room will be open on two sides, now.
Pretty easy going here. Follow the path around the first bend to a [ICEFANG
STONE] tucked in a niche. South from there's a [700G] drop, too. Continue
'round the southern bend until you get to a machine blasting steam. On the
eastern side is a [SOUL EATER] knife for Roan, and a [PARALYSIS SALVE] right
by there. Find the tiny stairway nearby with the [700G] by it, and head down
to the lower level. The NW corner of the area has a [2100G] bag inside, but
you'll be looking for a switch. Flip it to make a path north of the #4 item
appear. Head north to the [MANA HARP], and get the [MOVE BLESSING] west of
there on the landing. Then, just head down to the exit.
[UNDERGROUND PLANT 2]
This place looks really confusing (and hard to draw!), but it's really not a
big deal. At the first platform, head west to a [DYNAMITE] munition supply.
Follow north and loop west a bit to find the [REVIVAL GEM]. Continue along
the straightforward path until you get to the northeastermost platform, w/ a
[700G] bag on top of it. Head south along the pipe to a save point and get
down to the middle level of pipes.
Follow it in a southwesternly manner until you get to a switch platform (the
southwesternmost on map). Flip it to change the door locks, opening a path
to the [PARALYSIS SALVE] nearby and also another east. Follow /that/ one to
another switch platform, which cuts off the previous path in order to make a
new one. The first platform over's got the [700G] you've been waiting all
your life to get; continue north.
From here, there are two eastern pipes. Take the top one of Ryudo's weapons,
the [FINE BROADSWORD]. It's not as good as the Silver Freeze, though, if you
got it. Continue around on the other pipe to get to "16" on the map, a bland
[FLAME STONE]. Here's where the map gets hard to draw. Go south where the
"vv" part points downward and find a [MIRACLE ELIXIR] (the '17'), and walk
along the only pipe around to eventually get to the exit elevator. Whew, now
that is how you do that! >=p
[UNDERGROUND PLANT 3]
For the map's sake, I won't draw this in -- luckily it's the easiest part
of the three. Right by the elevator, in an alcove, is a [HOLY WOUND SALVE].
Head away from the elevator to find a [700G] drop, and make your way NW of
there (pretend elevator point is in the south) to find [2100G]. West of the
cache, after a little twisting and turning, is the exit and save point. I
bet you're hurting MP-wise, yeah? There's some [WARP SHOES] nearby, also.
Unequip the Silver Freeze here, though.
[UNDERGROUND PLANT, CONTROL ROOM]
Up the corridor, there's a boss fight! Wowee zowee!
Only three targets this time...but Claw/L. Arm can/may heal itself and its
parts, but only minimally (~2000 HP ;-;). As before, immediately cast Stram,
Cold, and Def-Loss, which should cripple its effectiveness quite a lot. Also
have countermeasures, because its physical attack can lower MOV/paralyse. If
you find yourself having trouble with its healing, have Millenia use the
always great "Spellbinding Eye" on the claw portion, which should then be
put out of commission for awhile -- use the time wisely! I'll also note that
the arms can seemingly BOTH be hit with move/magic block, although I haven't
seen the left arm get hit with magic block. You'll *usually* have to hit one
part both fast and hard to take it out, although I've noticed if any part's
got move/magic block on it, V's Claw will use Refresh before healing -- use
that stupid AI to your advantage! With two people having Alheal, once the
healers are narrowed down to one, this shouldn't nearly as difficult (use
Vitality March like no tomorrow!!). Without its arm parts, it's loses its
status effects (besides Stram) -- just keep criticalling it, I s'pose.
NOTE: Unequip Roan of all the unique items you want in the future, because he
will be reequiped and they're gone for good.
Afterwards, Valmar turns into an automata (manufactured robo-lookin' person)
named Tio. Rest up and save the game, then return to the king's office. There
Ryudo will find someone from his past...

| Demon Horde Slash - high physical damage (all, range) |
| Wailing Soul Slash - high physical damage (single) |
|___________________________________________________________________________|
Not much of a strategy needed here, since the battle automatically ends when
Wailing Soul Slash is performed. Just stay alive 'til then, and use Alhealer
when he uses Demon Horde Slash, which shouldn't be too hard. His other parts
will just use stat buffs, so there's only one method of damage going on at
once (usually).
Afterwards, Roan announces that he will have to rule in the king's stead, and
will subsequently be out of the permanent lineup. On the flipside, Tio, the
automata Mareg rescued from before, will be /in/ the lineup when you meet her
outside the castle gates (backtrack through castle). Ryudo talks about his
intent on going to the Island of Garlan, where he's from. Equip Tio with some
mana egg and skills (Elena as well).
Note that once you board Captain Bakala's boat in the harbor, you will not be
able to go back to this part of the continent for a long time (in some cases,
you can't go back at all), so if you want to visit around, now's the chance
to do so (Hemble's items have to be done now, if you want them). Anyway, when
ready, board the 50/50 at the port. Anchors aweigh, and all that.
Onboard, finish the dialogue, talk to Tio, then finish more scenes about some
seasickness. Ask Bakala (out on the bridge, exterior) and he'll port at the
close by...

This entire area is one-time-only, so get all treasure items while possible!
Also note that islands are chained together on the map, to lower the size.
Head along the dirt path until the party inspects some large pearl-shaped
things. Then, cross the shallows to the new campsite. The next morning, much
to your dismay, the tide's come in and cut off the route back! Oh, and all
those pearls have...hatched into monsters -- thanks for your sense of smell,
Mareg! So, fight the six Crimson Claws. Zap! works well here.
After demolishing 'em, head along the only path left to the monster-ridden
area you'll love so much.
[CECEILE REEF 1]
Save if you want, and head under the stone overhang. On top of it's Mareg's
[DRAGONFLY SLAYER], which works well on crustaceans. Equip it now, even if
it's a little lower on attack than the Halberd. Return to where the 'hang
juts out and head along the northern waterline, where there's a [GALE STONE]
hidden in a corner.
Further down the line, where there's some Crimson Claws running around, is a
[1000G] bag sitting pretty in the dirt. Jump south to the next island and
spy the [SCROLL OF ALHEAL] wrapped up in a pink bag, in a semi-blind corner.
There's also a hidden entrance around there to a cliff cave, containing the
[FLAME ARMOR], [FLAME BANDANA], and [FLAME SHOES]. At the next island,
there's a [1000G] bounty and [HEALING FRUIT], both near near the crustacean-
-carved walls. The exit's right nearby.
[CECEILE REEF 2]
Run around until the second island, where there's a [1000G] bag sittin' by
the waterside. The next island's got a [3000G] find, and after that, it's
into the shallows again. Look in the corners for a [CORAL NECKLACE] and the
[LULLABY STAFF] for Elena. In the NW corner, reemerge and walk the path to
the nearest expanse. There's a [ELECTRUM STONE] by the rocky coast here, and
should you wander to the eastern(ish) shallows, there's a [MERMAID HARP] you
can stuff in some pockets. Return to the rocky coast and follow the route by
there to a save point. A boss fight ensues very soon up the road -- equip
Mareg with the Dragonfly Slayer if you haven't!!

initially, and follow up with Def-Loss when you get the chance. You may want
to hold off on using Diggin' a lot until one of the creatures is dead, since
you'll make more headway. But, Scissors Storm is rarely seen and Phantom
Echo isn't too hard to cancel when -5 ACT (Tio's fast! Use her!), so there's
really no method of losing as long as Alheal works. And you SHOULD have that
on two people by now...
From there, run to the exit nearby.

Everyone jumps back by the boat, and they can take off again! Joy! And, to

Gatta shows up and says Melfice is waiting at the Plateau of Memories, high
up on the mount. There's goop on the ground around here, which slows down
movement to residual slowness, so be careful about getting back-attacked by
monsters. At the first fork, head north to the [1000G] bag in a lonely spot
of the dead. Back at the fork, go east to a [MAKIBISHI] bomb and [3000g] pot
near a northern exit.
Follow it to a statue switch (push it) that lowers the water level, near a
[DOUBLE MOON] weapon for Tio. Follow the straightforward path a ways to the
intact stairway. Don't go up yet -- there's a [MARS TALISMAN]/[FACE PAINT]
cache around to be cleaned up first. Ascend the stair when the area's clear,
and stick to the western side to get the awesome [POTION OF AZURE] at some
dead end. Go to the eastern side of the ridge to find the next statue. Push
it into its groove to make a submerged broken bridge walkable now.
It leads to the [GRAIL FRUIT] on the ground, and further east, a [HEALING
FRUIT]. Look for another stairway that has [1000G] beside it, and enter the
next area.
[GRAIL MT. ROAD 2]
Hang a left as you enter and find the NE path into a goop-filled area. There
is a [3000G] chest on some dry land, and opposite it, [DARK ARMOR] -- you'll
have to go around a rock to get to it, though. Continue north to spy another
[GRAIL FRUIT], then go west to the large chasm.
Use one of the thin tree-limb bridges to get to the other side, and use the
other makeshift bough to get to the large chest: a [MOVE BLESSING], [BONDS
OF TRUST], [EARTHEN AXE]. There's a [1000G] nearby, too. Zig-zag down the
other boughs, making for the southern side of the chasm. When there, follow
the long southern path to a [DYNAMITE] explosive. After that, just get going
on the western trail to the save point.
[GRAIL MOUNTAIN RD, SHRINE SQUARE]
Locate the cavern entrance in this vicinity and enter inside.
[GRAIL MOUNTAIN, SHRINE]
Approach the seal, see what's up, then leave again.
[GRAIL MOUNTAIN RD, SHRINE SQUARE]
Melfice shows up, but flees to the nearby plateau. Chase him, although you
will want to save first.
[GRAIL MT. ROAD 3]
The chest by where you enter has a [FAIRY RIBBON] inside; a [GRAIL FRUIT] is
nearby, too. Use the down-slope paths by the first Man-Eating Tree to reach
the very bottom of the zig-zag route, and search past some goop for a [GOLD
FEATHER] and [1000G] purse. Now, go back to the zig-zag path and look for
the junction that forks away (near top) towards a save point. Before you go
up to the plateau, I suggest putting any water-type boosting skills on the
Alhealer user(s), since it can make the skill do 1600+ restoration. =D
Melfice's regular attack can inflict Move Block, so be prepared! Counter the
Speedy spell with Cold, Def-Loss with Diggin', etc. Melfice has a plethora
of skills here or, more specifically, the Regenerator does -- it casts the
stat buffs on Melfice, while Melfice uses his two skills and attack magic.
Funny thing is, the Regenerator can be put to sleep (!) which stalls any of
its useful buffs. You can take out the parts individually, but honestly, it
isn't that necessary -- Melfice is the only worthwhile target. But, should
you feel up to killing his cohorts, phys attacks work best on Regenerator,
while magic attacks work well (the best, actually) on the Sword. Note that
if the sword is defeated, Melfice _cannot_ use any of his slash skills, so
it's the ideal first target if you go that route (however, this lets him use
Evil Horn Attack which, frankly, sucks at -5 ATK). Just watch out for Quake
if you take out the parts first, which can do 1000+ to everyone, constantly.
Either way, its skills and high-powered magics (Crackle, etc.) that will do
the most damage to Melfice, since he's got a high evasion rate even with a
lowered MOV rating.
Watch the scenes afterwards and Ryudo's new reception in the village. Gatta
gives Ryudo a [FRIENDS NECKLACE] before everyone regroups in town. Equip the
Maken Valborg and Soul of Asura on Ryudo to make him a self-sufficient murder
machine -- it's a great combo for a long time. Buy some Grail Fruits around
here and return to the dock. Just know that you will NOT be able to come back
to Garlan in the course of the game--! Bakala will take everyone to the
Great Cleft Island in Arachna...
Oh, and in case you didn't notice, Ryudo can now learn his last skill: Sky
Dragon Slash. It hits everything, so invest some points in it. :D
Everyone says their goodbyes to Bakala here. Head east to the save point
(remember, you can't go back to Garlan!) and enter the forest proper. Near
the palm-leave barricade, approach and press action to get the [3000g] back
behind it. Continue 'long to the large "flower" that spews steam everywhere.
On the side away from the creek, there's an [AROMATIC ROOT] weapon for Elena
behind a palm-leaf wall.
By the creek in question, make the plant chomp down and take the path along
to solid ground again. Ignore the palm-leaf thing nearby and take the root
walkway again -- at the fork, go east to the flower. A [SYLPH'S ROBE] can be
found inside! Keep goin' north to the new steam-spewin' flower and pass by
into the next area.
[GHOSS FOREST WEST 2]
Get on the root and approach the flower's bottom. Step on it to make the
petals unfold, and use it to get across. One [1000G] bag later, trek south
and find a [DIVINE TALISMAN] at the roots' underside. Follow that root as
it twists and turns far to the north -- behind the palm-leaf laundry line's
a [QUAKE STONE]. Whee? At the next fork, take the SE route to a [BAOBAB NUT]
just for you!
Follow the alternative (N) path until it winds to the ruins of a village.
Mareg waffles for a bit and you can leave. At the root fork, go south to the
[SUPER MOGAY BOMB] and take the north to the exit.

Welcome to Mareg's village! Not too many goliath beast-men around...must be a
dying breed!
___ [SPRING] Speak with the elder outside his hut to cue a few
|HUT|__//____ talky-talky scenes. Ol' chieftain invites all to
/ H2 ELDER|__ stay and come to the morrow's festival. Elena and
| ____[MAREG] Ryudo are asked to perform a small task together,
|WH|H1 H3| though...
¯¯ ¯¯| |¯¯¯
| | Outside, enter the Forbidden Room's hut at the
____| |____ chief's request. At the bottom, read the plaque
[SHOP INN] with the carro on top of it. Pick to enter the
¯¯¯¯|_|¯¯¯¯ room to gain access into the red-curtain door
[ENTER] beyond it.
The "trial" is a mini-game where Ryudo collects walnuts! In a half-minute's
worth of time, Ryudo must collect the nuts (although some look like burgers)
as they're at his arm level, before they rise/fall out of his arm's reach.
You only need one to win, apparently...
When the big carro opens the door, find the [NUT OF LIGHT] on the metal ramp
...right before both people fall into the green goop! Take the elevator pad
out and the chieftain gives the party a [RING OF GUARDING]. The festival'll
then begin...but you can go back into the walnut hut and get more prizes if
you want! Just talk to the guy in front of the place and inspect the plaque
to play again.

| #6 | Twenty | Dynamite | PWR: 1000 |
| #7 | Twenty-four | Potion of Azure | HP +1500 |
|____|_______________|___________________|_______________________________|
Prizes for 20/24 nuts seems to be randomized from a certain set, of: Healing
Fruit, Dynamite, Baobab Fruit, Potion of Azure, Seed of Life, Seed of Power.
There may or may not be more of the low-tier seeds to win, too.
As you proceed, the pink (bowling?) balls fall with more accuracy, and if one
hits Ryudo, he loses precious time (7-8seconds, I think) which pretty much
kicks him out of the running, at least in the latter stages. When ready, go
and talk to the chief and visit Nanan's spring in the north. As Ryudo, walk
to the spring's edge and back; after the moonlit scenes, everyone will be in
preparation to leave finally. REMEMBER TO GET THE BOOK OF WAR IF YOU DID
NOT GET ITTTTTTTT! <screech>!
North from the initial save point passage, enter the wide-open space. Look
for a [REVIVAL GEM] chest sitting amidst the snakes and sparrows, continuing
east when you do. There's a mucky swamp around here, but make your way thru
the path "elbow" down to the southern spinning flower field. Look for some
half-submerged [WOLF BOOTS] in the mud puddle here, and [1000G] amisdst all
the flowers. Continue NE to the next swamp region, then NW to the roots of a
great tree. One way (east) leads to the [3000G] jackpot, while the west is
where you should go. North through there, look for a tiny offshoot jutting
back south, for a [YOMI'S ELIXIR]. The exit's right NE.
[GHOSS FOREST EAST 2]
More mushrooms! Break the nearest for a [BAOBAB FRUIT] and keep movin' east.
Another mushroom holds a [SEED OF SPELLS] in the next expanse, while the
open space after that's got nothing (don't bother cutting the mushrooms --
they only unleash Man-Eating Trees!). Head up the curb to the next open-air
space. A [RED GOBLIN TOAD]stool can be found in one mushroom, but the rest
are vacant. As you move west, look for a treasure chest with [DRAGON SCALES]
in the southern dead-end; return to the fork and go west like before.
Nothing here, although in one mushroom-stuffed dead end's a [SEED OF RUNNING]
to pluck from its roots. Find the new easternly path and take it to a bunch
of suspicious-looking trees. Kill a mushrom nearby for a [RUNNER MUSHROOM]
and look for the NE dead end with a [VACCINE] in it. Numm. Go west a ways
until you come to a large tree.
In the NE dead-end are two mushrooms, one with a [SPEED MUSHROOM] inside. A
root path leads onto a outlook point by there, with [3000G] leftover from a
previous owner. Exit this area to the west, and get a visual on the [1000G]
bag o' coins sitting on the periphery. Now, go north to the root path.
It branches off -- take the lower road, to the [3000G] chest. Go under the
overhanging root to another dead end in the east, for a [BLACK BELT] equip.
Return to the split-path branch (redundancy?) and take the highroad to the
[1000G]. The actual exit's right nearby...
I suggest going back to Nanan and buying a bunch of Baobab Fruits, now that
you (hopefully) have some pocket change.

|_| <----- TO GREAT RIFT 1
[THE GREAT RIFT 1]
Here's where the party can see the Tower of the Purple Cloud. Save on the
end of the clifftop without the road downward. When you get to the first
ladder, jump across to the opposite ledge and hug the cliffside (path can
fall in middle) to get the [HEALING FRUIT]. Fall through the breakable path
now, which is quicker.
Continue the downward trek, ignore the second ladder, and keep hugging the
cliff so the discolored part of the cliff doesn't fall out from under you.
Use the third ladder to scale upwards, jump to the next section when given
the prompt, and at the "cave" entrance, take it down to a large chest. It's
a [SEED OF MOVES], [MAN'S IRON CLOGS], and a [MAN'S HEADBAND]. Run back up
to the top "cave" and jump down to the next section.
Ignore the fenny bird's nest; jump down at the edge where you landed, then
once more. Head east (television-wise) to a ladder; take it up. Hug the wall
again to avoid the falling path portion and partake in the [3600G] pittance.
Jump back down to the nest and get as low as you can.
As you get westbound, look for a boulder atop a fifth ladder. Push it down
to put it in its place -- a broken piece of the road. Continue downwards to
the sixth ladder and take the east (tv-wise) to a dead-end with a boulder;
push it and head back to the sixth ladder.
Head west (tv-wise) to a cave entrance. Follow it to a eighth ladder and
jump down to a [MAGIC BLESSING]. Fall through the path to an ninth ladder
and get to another boulder, which you should give a swift kick in the rocks
(:p) to get it rollin'. This should complete the path, and you can cross it
now. At the downward fork, go straight to a [VACCINE]; then take opt for the
other, which leads to the exit.
[THE GREAT RIFT 2]
Yay, camera function restored to full. Head north to the three-path fork.
Go the N and W routes to get the [DEMON'S TEARS] and [HEALING INCENSE] 'fore
taking the SE one. It leads to another fork with a [SEED OF SWIFT] by some
Giga Mantises. Sprinting west, after awhile, everyone'll come to another 3-
-fork path. Get the NW for a [HEALING FRUIT] and the eastern for a [1200G]
check. The northern leads to a new terrain, all sandy and humid. Be sure to
take the nearby [DISCUS] before going.
[THE GREAT RIFT 3]
Head north until you're forced west. By some Desert Divers, there's a [1200G]
bag sittin' tight, waiting for you. Continue north for a mandatory observin'
of the large sandstorm (yawn). Tio says that everyone should go to the
"Demon's Law" area nearby, after confering with a long-dead automata nearby.
Head along the sandstorm wall (west) until you can go no further, and simply
go south along the large machine-like...thing. There's an [ENERGY RING] and
[1200G] south of the entrance to Demon's Law, and a [SERPENTINE] bomb right
as you approach. Note that there is no save point just as you come in, so
if you want to heal up, I suggest going back a screen and doing it there!!!
This is helpful, 'cause, well, you have to fight a boss before you can heal
up.
Enter and take either fork to its end for a [3600G] reward and a large chest
with a [RED BIRD STONE], [PANACEA], and [PHOENIX HAT] inside. Head into the
larger northern cloverleaf room, and get the [HERO'S ELIXIR] on the opposite
highroad walkway. Then, get down to business with the huge minotaur boss...

| ATTACKS: |
| Buster Horn - physical damage + % move block (single) |
|___________________________________________________________________________|
This shouldn't be too hard, as long as you don't get bogged down early. Use
and abuse Lotus Flower (maxed out, it's INCREDIBLY fast-acting + cancel!)
and Sky Dragon Slash, which can kill the leopards in two turns. If you are
unable to do that, use Shhh! to block the kitties' magic and Snooze to put
the boss to sleep. Once the guarder's the only one left, Stram/Cold it and
use the canceling method to get rid of Buster Horn before it arises. I note
that it moves EXTREMELY slow, so you can often cancel/counter it when it
attempts physical attacks. Laff!
Equip Mareg with his new weapon and head to the heal/save point. North, go
into the first room and ignore the stuff there for now -- turn west. At the
far end's a [1200G] bag and in the room nearby is a cylinder. Trigger it to
make a door somewhere light up a bit.
Now, back in the room with the robot thing, hit that cylinder go get 2/3 of
the door lit up. In the eastern room, trigger the last cylinder and claim the
[EXORCISM BOW] stuffed in an alcove. The door by the robot'll open now; save
before entering it, because...
Yay, two queenies to play with -- take 'em one at a time, of course. Throw
Cold/Stram at your quarry, and bombard her with short-charge, single-target
attacks you've upgraded, like Beast-Fang Cut, Tenseiken Slash, etc. But, it
all becomes extraordinarily easy if you've maxed out Lotus Flower. It'll be
able to act near-instantly, hit more than one, and cancel to boot -- use it
like it's napalm. Considering how fast they can potentially be, use the oft-
-ignored Poizn to give you more openings to use canceling attacks. Freezing
Eye misses sometimes, too, so...haha. =p
Heal/save and proceed north through the naga's room. There are laser-guarded
passages on either side here, but can be traversed on a wait-and-see method.
Get the [HALO ARMOR] and [MYSTIC POTION] in the two rooms before going north
and heal/save before entering the control room.
Like Tio herself, the clone is mind-blowingly fast, so commission some Cold
spells at once and use Runner to raise everyone's evasion. She has the same
skills as Tio, obviously, so Lotus Flower can be used against you. Silence
is the only new ability, which can inflict magic block on everyone -- if it
gets down to everyone hit with it, use items like Healing Incense to do the
curing until the abnormality's removed. Her penchant for Tornado's the only
thing worth sweating over.
Afterwards, Tio says that by destroying the panel the wind wall'll disappear.
Slice it open, heal/save, and exit back into the Great Rift. Return to the
wind wall to find it's been allayed, then enter the area [Great Rift 4]. View
the crazy (CRAZEE!) events and it's off to...
Millenia says that taking out the core disrupts the entire thing. Equip
the Wings herself with the Exorcism Bow and any other stuff you may want to
have, and enter the body proper.
[TENTACLE PASSAGE]
Head north two platforms to a large chest, containing a [GOLDEN POTION,
[RESIST DRESS], and [POTION OF AZURE]. Follow the straightforward (for now)
path to an "eyeball pillar" which raises some steps off the platform's
side. Take the other direction, however, to a [1500G] bag in a dead end.
'Kay, now use the raised steps to get to a "maze" where you can push cubes
around. Luckily, there's only one way to do this. Push the first and get a
[THOR STONE] at the dead end you opened, then go south to the next cube.
Push it, get the [4500G], move the third cube, and go (south) to the red-
-hex tiles again. Find the [PANACEA] at the fork, and use the jump icon to
get to the next area -- the vein passage.
[VEIN PASSAGE]
Brain Bats and Immune Cells appear around here, and aren't so different from
their teleporting kin -- watch out for back attacks when you run into rooms,
since if they appear, it's insta-uncoolness. =P
Anyway, at the first fork, take the NE path of the two to a hex with a
[PRETTY BRACELET] in it. Follow the NW corridor from the fork until you get
to a room with a blue orb-switch thing. Don't press it yet! -- instead, go
north until you get to a [REVIVAL GEM] chest. Back at the switch, press it
and go down the only route that's left, to another switch. Hit that one, as
well, and go north to ANOTHER (3rd) switch.
Flip it, go down the path to a [SAGE'S HAT], flip the same switch again,
and advance through the other fork. At the next fork (no gates), one path
leads to a dead-end room with a [PRETTY BRACELET] in it; the other leads to
another switch, five rooms down. Hit that fourth switch, get the [NINJA
CLOTHES], hit the switch again, and exit into...
[SPHERICAL ROOM]
The device here flips you upside-down, which means that you'll enter the
previous room's floor...from the bottom. Confused? Well, just enter it, for
god's sake.
[ARTERY PASSAGE]
Not sure if you realized, but this is a mirror image of the room you were
just in...so it's time to do everything in reverse!
---
Save/heal and go up the only passage. If it's a dead end, go back to the
vein passage and hit the switch by the exit. Okay, from the first fork,
take the NE (right) passage to a [PRETTY BRACELET], then take the NW (left)
one for quite awhile, ignoring all the switches you see. You should be able
to get the [ADAMANTINE HELM] and [PRETTY NECKLACE] chests right near each
other, no problem. Flip the switch you passed (there's only one) and pass
to the next switch room.
Get the antechamber's [PRETTY BRACELET] -- yes, another one -- hit the
last switch, then go down the next direction to...another switch! Flip it,
follow to the next switch (ignore), follow to next switch (trigger), and
you will be able to exit. Steal the [FIRE CHARM] nearby 'fore you do. =)
Don't worry -- you won't have to go this way again.
[TENTACLE PASSAGE]
Follow the upper (straightforward) red-hex walkway a ways to an eyeball
pillar platform. Hit it to make a walkway portion rise (goes to the cube
maze from before). Get the [SILENCE LUTE] at the eventual dead-ending of
the other fork before, though.
Down at the cube maze, push the first and follow the Dino Freezer-filled
path to a [MAGICAL MEDICINE] jar and [1500G] bag. Push the second cube to
get a large chest in view: [GOLD FEATHER], [BONDS OF TRUST], and some
[RAINBOW HI-HEELS]. Push the third and do some path-hopping on the highroad,
which leads to a save point. Enter beyond...

| V's Body - Strangulation - high phys damage + ATK/DEF/MOV/ACT -1 (single) |
|___________________________________________________________________________|
The tentacles suck, so don't bother so much with them (at first). Def-Loss,
Cold, and Stram the Body, then use affect-all attacks -- Sky Dragon Slash,
Lotus Flower, Beast-King Blast, Fallen Wings, etc. all work well here (Lotus
especially for quick canceling). The tentacles seem to be pieces of crap,
and mostly are, but their physical slaps hit more than one and can cancel,
so don't count 'em out of the running just yet. Besides Strangulation,
though, the body is a wuss. The funny part is that if you feed Tio Baobab
Fruits every once in awhile, she can use Lotus Flower every turn and cut
down the number of attacks EVERYTHING gets in by about 75% -- that's a lot.
Haha, Millenia calls Mareg a "manimal." Let's get outta here...

32) ST. HEIM PAPAL STATE (Revisited) [BESTIARY LINK: SPP1][LINK: WK32]
_______________________________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
[PASTURES]
Talk to NPCs here to see what the ruckus is about and enter the town proper.
[ST. HEIM PAPAL STATE]
NOTE: Paladin Helmet/Armor drops CANNOT be gotten anywhere else! Try to get
two in one battle (I did!).
You can't leave town to go anywhere, so don't bother. Rest up and visit the
store (upgraded - LINK: SHP9], then try to continue down the road. A forced
battle with four Granas Knights plays out -- just use Sky Dragon Slash and
Lotus Flower to whittle away their 2430 HP. Head towards the cathedral --
make sure to equip Elena with accessory/skills if you haven't already!!!!!
Buy a couple of vaccines if you haven't, also.
Pretty easy, although there's more magic flying around than usual. Luckily,
Black Fog Spew is a horrible "attack," often doing 600-700 to those in
range and rarely inflicting plague. The eyeballs alternate between
beneficial and offensive magic, so it isn't hard at all to keep one's HP
above the red. As before, Lotus Flower's instantaneous release can be a fun
(and useful) way to cut down on all three parts' attacks. When only thine
beating heart is left, it'll rely on Aorta Pummel which is straight damage
to a target and Avici Slash which is straight damage to all (and looks sweet
by the way). Remember that you have to use a Vaccine to cure plague!
Oh, and you can poison Valmar's Heart if you're having trouble...uh, lol?
---
Enter the cathedral afterwards (you can save in west wing, remember) and go
to the main chamber. Talk to Cardinal Oro who directs you to the Holy Door --
it's the one behind the pulpit. Use the multi-colored elevator thingy and see
what happens high up in the steeple. After, return to the pasture region to
the Granasaber. Buckle up, put on your space helmets, 'cause it's a hoedown
down at...
Just follow the monster-less, two-way path to the entrance.
[VALMAR'S MOON 1]
NOTE: Nyarmot enemies may drop a 'Tight Dress' which nullifies all magic
used on the wearer. See if you can get one while you're here (you can
get them later, though).
Save if you want (hopefully you stocked up in St. Heim!) and into the tunnel
nearby. Cut through the weird tendon and look for the large chest right off
the fork -- it contains a [LION HARP/[LION BOOTS]/[LEO REX BATTLEAX]. Return
to the main path and look for another offshoot, this time containing [2000G]
for ya.
In the next tunnel portion, spy the [POTION OF AZURE] in a corner before you
merge with the main path again. An offshoot by here contains a [6000G] score
and further down the way, find the [THOR STONE] in another like branch. Back
at the larger road, you'll find two machine (marked 'S' on map) switches
that shoot bubbles, making a path across. You need to use both of them 'fore
Ryudo can cross, though. Get the [SILVER FEATHER] before exiting.
[VALMAR'S MOON 2]
More tendon fun here; this time, cutting them closes the attached gates.
Maim the first tendon and enter the path two over. One long, long path goes
to a [DEMON ASH] and the other mini-section attached (at opposite end) comes
to a head the [2000G] bag. The middle path is the way to go, though. In the
dark-colored tunnel beyond is another large chest: [MYSTIC VEIL], [MIRACLE
ELIXIR], and [SILVER FEATHER].
Follow to the second tunnel portion and look for an [INDIGO POTION] off the
main branch. Further down the way, you'll find a tendon that goes through a
wall, and can't be cut with ease. Take the nearby adjoining tunnel to a spot
ripe for the slashin', getting the [PANACEA] as you do. Backtrack a ways to
the path you opened, which leads to a save and exit.
[VALMAR'S MOON 3]
NOTE: Nyarmots respawn here, so you can get the Tight Dress (null all magic)
with a bit of luck. Look for three-bell monsters, since this drop is a
bit harder to get than some. Remember that if you run from battle and
initiate it again, the treasure configurations CAN change!!!!!!!!!!!!!
With the exit as the "southern" point, take the east wall until you find a
[MOONSTONE ARMOR] on a pink pillar. Step on the floor button by it to lower
the thing, taking it as you do. Similar switches adorn the floors, but they
really don't do anything unless by an suspicious object (i.e. avoid 'em).
By the lavaside ledge, step on the switch to cross and get the [REFLECT HELM]
the same way as the armor. At the next branch, rob the pillar of a [GOLDEN
POTION]; there's a [SCARLET POTION] nearby, to boot. Even further down the
way, in the tunnel portion, is a [2000G] coinpurse. Cross the southern lava
field until you get to a pillar with a Evil Maneuver on it -- don't give it
a means to come down.
There's a [6000G] recepticle right beside it, and further down a [2000G] bag
by a large chest. It contains a [METEOR SCROLL], [SILVER FEATHER], and the
[MOONLIGHT TIARA] for a girl character. Jump the gap, step on the switch
beyond, save, make sure someone has Alhealer + water-type boosting ability,
and enter...
[VALMAR'S WOMB]
Time for some cradle-robbing....IN THE MOST INHUMANE WAY POSSIBLE!

First off, ignore the danged Bits -- they use Desperate Blow and will always
respawn later on; you can circumvent this annoying process by slamming 'em
with a Fiora and ignoring them for the most part. Stram/Cold the guardian
and use Diggin', which when fully powered, really takes the swagger out of
its Wailing Sickle attack (uses with impunity!). Once again, Lotus Flower
is the showstopper, being able to hit many bits and cancel as well -- abuse
it like you're about to lose it. Once things on that side are taken care of
just use single-serve skills (Tenseiken Slash, Beast-Fang Cut) and refresh
your SP with a Baobab Fruit when needed...hopefully you still have a few
left from before. If you kill the guardian, the battle ends -- no ifs, ands
or "bits" about it. =D
Some scenes later, Elena is back as the fourth party member and it's time to
leave this hunkajunk moon in the space dust. Equip Elena with skills, an egg,
and equipment. Elena may be KO'd (she was on my game), so revive her, too.
The path is straightforward but has a few mandatory fights to trudge through.

If you have trouble with this, may Valmar devour you.'
Continue 'long to the newest installment in "Stalling Battles":
It's accompanied by two more swattable Valmar Flies. Take out the Young first
with single-serve attacks and dismantle the teensy-weensy wuss flies with no
effort.
Unequip Mareg of any really good/unique equipment at this time. It's the
last waltz now, with two...
Same as before -- one at a time. Hopefully you'll get lucky and have a nice
three-bell monster to fight, giving you a large chance to win a Soul of
Asura (combo attack +2 hits). Just use Alhealer when HP starts to sag...
Something odd, though: I know I got 600g as a reward in the first battle,
and in the second, it dropped 850g at once... shouldn't matter much here,
though.
After some auto-scenes, Mareg will no longer be in the party. Back to the
regular planet we call...uh, I forget. Anyway, everyone lands near Cyrum
Kingdom. Get the [MISSANGA] near the Granasaber's remains and watch the
new scene that takes place. Locate the road nearby and take it out into

As you enter, you'll have immediate access to the inn and general store. Look
into the latter [LINK: SHPX], since it now stocks Baobab Fruit, Magical
Medicine, Serpentine bombs (500g/per!), and some excellent equipment for all
party members. YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET BAOBAB FRUITS LATER ON SO GET A
WHOLE BUNCH (x30?) NOW. You will not regret it. Same goes for Magical
Medicine, although not as much.
Direct yourself towards the castle and Roan will be back in the "Big 4" once
more. Ball's in your court versus...
Two of 'em again. use single-target attacks on them one at a time, and have
Lotus Flower ready to cancel any Berserk Drills. Roan can help out here w/
True Dragon Rise (although Snowball Fight apparently isn't becoming of the
royalty and has been nerfed to a single-target...).
Back in the castle (you can save downstairs, remember), go to Roan's office,
which is the king's former one, adjacent to the throneroom. The young king
suggests leaving this place to get the Horns away from the incomplete Valmar,
whose bound to come knocking on their door. Exit through the front gate and
head towards the town exit, where you'll fight two more Valmar Young. After,
time to leave -- make sure to equip Roan with an egg/skills/equipment.
And, in case you didn't notice, Tio now has a new skill available for buying:
"Whisper to Stars". Invest in this ASAP since it raises EVERYONE's applicable
abilities (MOV, ATK, DEF, ACT) by one point. Very useful, very cheap -- do it
to it, folks.
Raul Hills will now be open (SPECIAL STAGE) and so will Cyrum Kingdom South.
I'll cover the former first, even if it's completely optional (refer to the
section immediately below).
Anyway, when you want to continue, go to Cyrum Kingdom South where the Grana-
-saber's parts are. Watch a sweet scene involving St. Heim and head to royal
mausoleum nearby (only house, no monsters...have fun!). A few scenes later,
there is a (literal) breakthrough to the solution! Exit in the building's
other door -- giddayup!

HILLS 1 |______________|
[RAUL HILLS 2]
As told by some narrative, this field area is a place where you can enjoy
combat without regard to the progress of the story...meaning, you can kill
as much stuff here as you want and level up. Head south from the boat dock
to enter the first area's mini-portion.
[RAUL HILLS 1]
If you look in the NW corner, there are four piece-o'-crap weapons to be
had. I considered the possibility that maybe they "level" up into something
good after fighting with them for awhile, but haven't really entertained it
as much as I'd like. Either way, get the [ZERO BROADSWORD], [DULL KNIFE],
[USELESS STAFF], and [RUSTY HOOP] -- nice, huh? Exit back a screen.
[RAUL HILLS 2]
Head up towards the save point and start poppin' those puffballs near the
mid-field fences to get a [GOLDEN NUT] and [SEED OF LIFE]. Heal up, and exit
far to the south.]
[RAUL HILLS 1]
Remember this place? It's a maze from before, only now it's inhabited by a
bunch of very angry, very powerful Devil enemies. Their "BA-BOOM!" attack
can pretty much wipe the entire party, even with maxed-out Life Up skills
put on. So, either you'll have to use a maxed-out Sky Dragon Slash + Lotus
Flower + affect-all magic to get them out of the picture before then, or...
use Tight Dresses! Nyarmot enemies drop this crappy-defense item; however,
it nullifies all magic cast on the female wearer (she also can't use her own
magic, but oh well). I got through with the aforementioned killing spree way
and Tight Dresses, and had no problem. Droplets of Life restores all HP and
revives, by the way -- don't forget about it!
The maze has a bunch of sweet items inside -- here's a map of them, although
you can always kill the Devil baddies and explore at leisure... Anyway,
here's a mini map that should get you through to the good stuff. Remember
that the "^" points to a path that goes under a bridge!

Note that the letters just go to show where the treasures are, not the order
to get them in (they signify the order *I* got them in while drawing it).
Anyway, here's what every new special item does:
* Sonic Belt --------> +40 ACT (accessory)
* Demon Necklace ----> Cuts MP consumption by 25% (accessory)
* Lore of Magic -----> +1000 MC to current total (expendible)
* Fairy Egg ---------> Recovery/Assistance/Defensive ManaEgg
* Soul of a Hero ----> Doubles all EXP values in monsters (valuable)
* Astral Miracle ----> Doubles all SC values in monsters (valuable)
That's all there is to do here, unless you want to level up some more. Have
fun doing it, 'cause it's off to Cyrum Kingdom South when you're done.
Ah, another expansive dungeon to map out (-_-). In the save point room, take
the south entrance to a [2500G] bag; then take the opposite path. Shortly,
you'll get to a bridge crossing the red spiderwebby floor -- look along the
ledge (not the passage) for the mucho grande [7500G] supersized chest. ^___^
Follow the long passage until you get to the red spiderwebby floor again. Head
towards the "BLUEORB" room on the map, which you'll enter from the east side.
Trigger the orb to open/close two doors and turn the elevator's blue orb on.
Travel under the southern bridge and find a weird device; shoot it and it'll
lower the [HERO'S CUIRASS] from its almighty pedestal. Now, back to the orb
room.
Exit west (back into save point room) and take the southern antechamber. This
will lead into the room south of the blue orb, on the highroad. Travel along
the southern periphery to get the [FLAME STONE]. Now cross the nearby bridge
and follow the only passage beyond to get to the room near the elevator. Take
it down and put this place behind you for awhile.
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS 2]
A little shorter, for now. At the first fork, take the large red-spiderweb
path north to a [QUAKE STONE]. Take the western path available to a room w/ a
locked giant-red door; go south. At this next fork, there's a offshoot that
leads to a [SCARLET POTION], all yours. The next path is (currently) two-way
and leads to a save point and exit.
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS 3]
At the fork, take the west entrance. Prepare for a boss battle before you
enter the red-tiled floor (take off the TIGHT DRESSes!!!).
This gets annoying very quick, what their wide-range, ACT-lowering Blizzard
Rise attack (which they use often). Counter it with "Whisper to Stars" or
a Sympathy Nut. Stram/Cold, Def-Loss, the usual method works here, but
you'll want to use Alhealer quite a lot, if you can get it off. Either way,
if you've maxed out skills, they will act at the same speed as usual --
abuse Lotus Flower/Golden Hammer/Sky Dragon/Tenseiken to counter all their
skill-crazy offensives. When one's dead, it's far easier.
Head out of the room towards the bridge with a yellow orb on it. Pass by for
a moment to the side you haven't been to, and get the [2500G] bag at the dead
end. Return, and hit the orb, which powers up one of the elevator's lights
(you should have blue and yellow now). Go east until you hit a big reflector
cube and slide it. Further down the passage is a device that shoots a ball of
energy; if you did it right, it'll reflect off the cube, hit the yellow orb,
and open the door by the device. Inside the ensuing room are four chests, w/
a [INDIGO POTION], [ANGEL'S RING], [VALKYRIE DRESS], and [GALE STONE] within.
Return to the large yellow orb, now.
On the other side of the platform (west) is a yellow door that was opened a
while back. It's a dead-end that leads to a [PANACEA]. Backtrack to the area
exit, now.
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS 2]
In the room adjacent to the save point (HEAL!) is a yellow door that opened.
Beyond it, is your wildest dreamz0rz! :o

Less HP than before! Buff up with Whisper to Stars, and use single-targeting
attacks to cancel their skills. Stram/Cold works well here, as well as the
underrated Nightmare Ball, which inflict both with Sleep, 100% of the time
(as well as reset their skills!). It's a pretty tame battle, although there
is a chance Killer Voltage + Snooze can really take a big chunk out of your
offense by incapacitating everyone...it misses sometimes, though, for some
reason beyond me. If this happens, use Vitality March to snap everyone out
of their funk. Thus, Lotus Flower is indispensible when countering both of
their annoying skills.
Heal and save, now. =p
Afterwards, head north from the room to find the last orb (red one), and hit
it to change the door lineup. This makes the elevator's last gray orb turn
to red. Head north and east until you're in the room where the Quake Stone
once was (at bottom). Get the [SUPER MOGAY BOMB] at the very end of the
ledge, and hit the device, which will open a new red door nearby. Inside is
a treasure trove of a [GOLD FEATHER], [HOLY CROWN], [SUN ROBE], and [MYSTIC
POTION]. Anywho, back to Birthplace of the Gods 3.
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS 3]
There's only one place you haven't been to, and it's the red door at the
very first fork. It leads to a [SUPER MOGAY BOMB], [HYPER MOGAY BOMB], and
the awesome [KOJIN CHARM]. Back up to the next floor.
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS 2]
Back to elevator (all orbs are ON, yes? Make sure of it).
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS 1]
Time to get the last mana egg. Make your way back to the blue orb, switch
it to "OFF" which changes the door lineup. There are a bunch of reflectors
here. Move the one against the wall east once and the other SW. Hit the
reflector device nearby to shoot a beam and hit the blue orb -- this will
lower the huge chest with a [DRAGON EGG], [BOOK OF SAGES], and [ETHEREAL
MIRACLE] inside! :D
Switch the blue orb back, and head to the elevator.
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS 2]
Back to the lower floor...
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS 3]
Deactivate the yellow orb and return up to the other floor.
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS 2]
North of the yellow orb room, you can now enter the yellow door, leading to
a [ILLUSION BANDANA]! Return to the elevator and it will take you down to the
third floor, the first time you've been able to do so.
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS 3]
Proceed north through the throngs of Ancient Warriors, coming to a door and
a save point. Approach the door to see a scene about power cells, then save
the game if you haven't already. Enter beyond...
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS, CONTROL ROOM]
At Tio's behest, circle the room to a large control panel. Elmo will reveal
the ancient records she keeps. After a few dialogue scenes, move Ryudo into
glowing light in the center of the platform (you might have to press the
action button).
[BIRTHPLACE OF THE GODS, OPEN THOUGHT]
Ryudo will be prompted to answer questions here, as he walks along the very
straightforward path. You can't mess up (you'll be accused of lying! lol),
so here are the answers:
* "No, this I do not desire!"
* "No, that's not it!"
* "NO...that's not it!"
At the (4th) blank platform, more dialogue takes place. MANY MANY MANY auto
scenes later, everyone will be outside the mausoleum and there will be a
shining, luminescent tile near its front. Go into the Birthplace of the Gods
and save, first.
Check out the "new" world map if you want (can't go anywhere), talk to the
shopkeeper standing by the Birthplace of the Gods' entrance [LINK: SHPZ],
go do stuff in the BOTG. When ready, use the shining tile atop the mausoleum
to arrive at...
And the end is finally upon us...well, one of us. >___>
[NEW VALMAR 1]
Save if you want (YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GO ANYWHERE ELSE EVER) and take
the western fork to a weird bubble thing -- it sinks you below the path.
Return whence you came and get the [3000G] bag under path, at the fork.
In the far east, use the bubble to get back on the normal-height path. Go
through the passage nearby to reach a larger room.
In the nearby dead-end passage, use the bubble-vator to get onto the low
ground, then head into the previous room. Dragon Knights are all around
here, as you can see. Head north to a 'cave' that leads to another egg-vator
to take. This brings one back up to the highroad.
Take the adjoining passage to the large green spider-webby overhang. One'll
lead to a large chest with a [SCARLET POTION], [GOLD FEATHER], and the cool
[LOVING RIBBON] inside. The other (that isn't the middle) leads to a nice
[ALL-AROUND SEED] (ignore adjoining passage). Take the middle vine-path
when ready.
This leads to a room with orb-switches that open/close, with the switch
changing spots every couple of seconds

Pretty laughable, and it's an obvious stall battle because the main monster

which may make you want to restart to get it (I got it on first try, but
still prefer Sword Breaker). Use Sky Dragon Slash to take out the moths,

chance to get the Brave Dirk (*fingercrossed*). Remember that these idiots
can be put to sleep, so abuse Nightmare Staff when you're not healing...and
I can assure you that's pretty often. =p
Go back and heal/save, and put on your best equipment, eggs (i.e. everyone
with Alhealer), and stuff. Here's my final setup (everyone Lv. 55), although
there's wiggle room: Glass Slippers, Priestess' Robe, Illusion Bandana, and
Man's Headbands can all stake their claim.

Equip your best skills, too, with everyone getting Life Up and, for your main
healers, anything that boosts water-type moves -- this skyrockets Alhealer's
curative power through the freakin' roof. Also, use whatever SC you've got
to power up the skills you'll be using a lot.
Anyway, enter the new area beyond the blistered remains of the two magnas...
Its heads will use offensive/defensive magic and also Alhealer (for a
very crappy ~1200 restoration) while its core will cast most of the nasty
things you don't want to get hit with. Basically you can ignore the heads,
but if you cripple them, this is way easier. So, use Sky Dragon Slash, True
Dragon Rise, Lotus Flower, and Whisper to Stars to inflict mucho damage. It
seems like a really hard battle with all the targets, but you should know
by now that the affect-all attacks you have can be used to great effect in
these cases. Use Vitality March to cure any nasty status effects and this
will be gravy. The only "hard" thing about this is contending with Valmar's
special attacks, which are the ones you've seen previously (Millenia's ones
if you'll recall). Fr'instance, Avenging Claw can do 1500+! If you've got
any Baobab Fruits, feed those to Ryudo and have him use Sky Dragon Slash
over and over...really makes this fun! If someone dies, use a Yomi's Elixir
to save on MP. In fact, don't be vicarious with your SP/MP unless you have
a good supply; there's another battle immediately following, as is the trend
with many "ultimate boss battles."
"How can humans have such power?"
"Because we're not stark-raving mad, you pathetic blockhead" <--- LOL
Anyway, she attacks really slow (sounds like usual, huh?), so pile on Stram
and Cold to put her on ice. Use Whisper to Stars to buff the allies, while
someone uses single-target attacks on her. With the exception of DragonZap,
which can paralyze people (in a line, no less), this battle is a piece of
cake.
Afterwards, Millenia will be in the party again, while Roan and Tio are out
for the moment. Equip Miss Wings with all that good stuff (skills included)
and touch the green warp thingy

Everything has around the same HP, so indiscriminate attacks will work best
here. Abuse Sky Dragon Slash/Fallen Wings and cast Fiora on the bats (I
think this still works); use a Baobab Nut if you have to refill SP. Should
you have any Exhaustion Nuts laying around, waste 'em here. Either way, if
you stick to simple affect-all attacks, everything will die around the same
time (kill the eye -> battle over).
Save/heal at the initial platform and warp to the fourth, where you'll be
dining with the medium-rare...

Yay, this one again. Don't bother with the eyes; go straight for the jugular
or the heart, in this case. You can counter the stat-downing the boss does,
but it doesn't really matter too much. Sky Dragon Slash+Fallen Wings x 2
should almost be enough to kill the eyes. Far and away, the easiest Valmar
incarnation as of yet, even if its regular attacks are beefed up a bit
(Aorta Pummel can do 1700ish!).
Save/heal and gallop to the fifth platform. Equip Tight Dresses if you want
a very easy ride. I can't think of anything to say so I'll quote Millenia:
"You better real this one in, you psycho!"

Here's the culmination of all your hard-fought perseverance! And...it's a
really big piece of crap. Use Heel Crush, Stram/Cold, and other fun torture
devices (preferably single-target cancelers) to stop its magic-spewing face
from getting anything off. Magic is his forte, in fact -- what a waste of
time, especially if you equip Tight Dresses! It's just sad that this poor
horsefly can't muster up enough power; even BA-BOOM! pales in comparison to
the Raul Hills' Devils' abilities (although it can do about 1700dmg to all,
which isn't _too_ shabby). But, I guess this just shows the humanity of any
would-be, shouldn't-be "god" -- they always suck at the core. It's quite
possible it doesn't get ANY attack off if you lower its ACT fast enough.
Won't even feel a handicap.

_______________________________________________________________________________
¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯¯
##### As always, e-mail me for corrections or stuff you want added! #####
[Q] - If I kill only the main boss part, do I lose out on experience/equips?
[A] - No.
[Q] - If I flee battle, does the chance of enemies having treasure change?
[A] - YES YES YES!
[Q] - When does Ryudo learn his last skill?
[A] - After finishing the events at Grail Mountain Road.
[Q] - When does Tio learn her last skill?
[A] - After the events at V's Moon.
[Q] - How does Millenia learn her skills???
[A] - She learns new ones after some mandatory boss fights with...well, you
will know when the time comes because the attacks are the exact same
except for Grudging Claws (which is called Avenging Claw in the boss
battle).
[Q] - What characters' skills should I concentrate on maxing out?
[A] - The single-target cancelers are the best, but for an overview:
* Ryudo - Tenseiken Slash, Sky Dragon Slash
* Roan - Golden Hammer, Dragon Rise/True Dragon Rise
* Elena - Impact Bomb, Droplets of Life
* Mareg - Beast-King Cut, Beast-King Smash
* Tio - Lotus Flower, Whisper to Stars
* Millenia - Arrow Shot, Fallen Wings, Heel Crush, Spellbinding
Eye, Grudging Claws (yes, all of those!)
[Q] - What the heck!? Lotus Flower _MISSED_!
[A] - Yeah, I don't know what's up with that either. It may just be that the
monster is too close or that there's only one left (which is when it's
missed every time I've done it). Should you find out, let me know.
[Q] - How do I beat those Devils at the Raul Hills special stage!? ARGH!
[A] - Here's what I suggest:
* Max-out Sky Dragon Slash/Lotus Flower so they act very fast
* Max-out Golden Hammer/Impact Bomb so they act very very fast
* Get two 'Tight Dress' armors for the girls, which nullify any type of
magic (dropped from Nyarmot enemies in that very stage)
* Use Nightmare Ball!
You may think Nightmare Ball is a piece of crap, but sleep is one status
the Devils aren't immune to; and, it inflicts the status ~100% of the
time, so long as it hits everyone. Single-target cancelers will do very
well here. Just target whichever is using "BA-BOOM!" (which never seems
to be more than one) and you'll do just fine.
[Q] - How do I get to the third elevator floor in Birthplace of the Gods!!??
[A] - In annoying fashion, you must activate the blue and red orbs, and have
the yellow one (on the B3 floor) deactivated. If you do this, a sparkly
light will appear above the elevator and hover, signifying you can go
down further. The game gives you a scene, so you cannot miss it.
[Q] - How do I do the epilogue???????
[A] - Pretty simple:
01) Head towards the inn
02) Go to hilltop church
03) Go to Sandra's house
04) Walk to tent by gate
