What's this? A walkthrough for a game made in 2001, written nearly a decade
and a half later? That's right, after 14 long, enigmatic, and generally
confusing years of stumbling through this game, it's finally getting the large
compendium of info that it deserves. So strap in, it's gonna be a long ride.

--------------------------------(3-Game Overview)-----------------------------

Gadget Racers is not the typical racing game. In Japan, it is known as "Choro
Q HG", and is part of the long-running Choro Q franchise. All the Choro Q
games are heavy on vehicle customization, and this game is an excellent
example of this. Much of the game is dependent on your ability to change your
car to the requirements of the track you will be racing on. Tracks can contain
snow, deep water, and cliff drops, which will require special vehicle parts
such as skis, floats, propellers, and flight wings to drive on. Certain events
contain vehicle endurance meters, which are dependent on the tires and chassis
parts you are using. As tire endurance lowers, grip and traction lower, and as
chassis endurance lowers, acceleration lowers as well. Certain events outside
of races, such as games of chicken, demolition derbies, and flight challenges
add variety to the game, which has special dedicated multiplayer events.

Square - Brake
Left Analog Stick - Steering control

---------------------------------(4-Grand Prix)-------------------------------

Grand Prix mode is the "Adventure" or "Campaign" mode of the game. Rather than
an RPG-style mode similar to other Choro Q franchise games, this game is
entirely menu-based. When first entering this mode, you will choose
from one of six possible starter bodies, give it a name, and will then be
placed in the main Grand Prix menu, where there are five options. Pressing R1
will bring up the quick-select menu options in the top right of the menu. From
the left, these options will:

1. Bring you to the race menu
2. Bring you to the vehicle customization menu
3. Bring you to the shop
4. Bring you to the save game menu
5. Bring you to the completion status menu

The main five options are:

1. Race - Lists the available races to compete in
2. Custom - Customize your vehicle
3. Shop - Purchase vehicle bodies, parts, and other tune-ups
4. School - Complete License tests to enter into Grand Prix tournaments
5. Option - Change options with the game, save, or check completion status

-----------------------------------(4.1-Race)---------------------------------

The race menu contains each race currently available to you. You will start
with three options and earn more as you complete more races. Each race event
has 4 different money awards for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and any level under. Finishing
an event without touching any other racers gives a bonus of x1.5 money. After
finishing a race in first, the total money you can win from the race is cut
in half.

Single player mode is significanly different than Grand Prix mode. Instead of
having a customizable car, you have the selection of several bodies with
different stats, which have parts added to them depending on the track you
are racing on. There are significantly fewer options for cars and tracks,
making this more of a "quick race" mode.
