Introduction
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
I'm typing this guide without know if it will be accepted, hopefully it
will be accepted. If it gets posted, I will continue the list, to a certain
limit because I don't want to spam on gamefaqs.
A long time ago, during my second time through the game, I was doing pretty
good on Sphere Break. Sphere Break is a mini-game that you play in Luca
on Chapter 3. The prize in Chapter 3 is Lady Luck, the Dress Sphere.
Some times I was doing very good and at other times, I couldn't beat the
easiest character (10 turns, 25 Quotas). So then, I started to realize that
there was a certain pattern and I started to write it down on paper, it
worked wonders after I knew what my Core Sphere were.
I lost that list, but hey, I can make it again. So now I'm here trying to
accomplish this task, but at the same time I will use this guide for my
ODINS (One Day In No Saves). Which is to finish Shuyin off before the 24
hours mark is reached. If you have played this game 2 or 3 times, you
should know this is more than possible. The reason for me using this
guide, I need Lady Luck and I want to be 100% sure that I can get it.
Without it, my strategy is destroyed and I would need to make a new one.
O, by the way, before you use this guide, I hope you have at least won 5
Sphere Break matches. So that you can get what I'm talking about, as well
as know how it all works.

Knowing the Terms
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
Just like in the game itself (NA version), I would use the same terms. In
this section, I would give examples of how to play Sphere Break, as well
as how to use this guide effectively.
Entry Coins: The ones in the very middle of the playing screen. They have
the color of yellow. There are 4 of them and each of them have a number.
These coins won't ever dissappear, so you can keep on using them, yet they
won't add to your quota. Read 'Quota' for more info.
Border Coins: All the coins around the Entry Coins. There are 12 of them.
They have the color of blue, or close to it. Selecting these coins add to
your quota. Read 'Quota' for more info. Also, regardless if you use the
Border Coins, or not, during a turn, they'll be replaced or removed. The
number of border coins removed equals the number of coins you used to make
the break. After you have used up half the number of turns, the rate in
which they come back becomes more frequent.
Core Number: In the very center of the playing screen. It's bright blue and
this determines what you need to combine. Read "How to play" for more info.
Quota: This is how you need to get to win the match. Quota needed to win
against anyone is different. The highest Quota ever needed is when you
play against Shinra, which is 100, in Chapter 5. It's 50 if you're playing
against him in Chapter 3. At the beginning of the match with Shinra, your
quota should read 0/50, if on Chapter 3. Unable to get that many quotas by
the end of the Time Limit or the given Turns, you lose.
Turns: This is how many chances you can get to complete/collect the required
Quota. If you are not able to do this, you lose.
Time Limit: This is how much time, in seconds, you get to use one of your
turns. If it reaches 0 and you still haven't Sphere Breaked it yet, you
lose.
How to play:
You must select coins' numbers, and have them add up to a multiple of the
Core Number. The coins that you can select are the Entry Coins and Border
Coins. Remember, the first coin that you select must be one of the Entry
Coins. After you selected one of those, then you can select any Border
Coins, or any Entry Coins if you can find them useful.
Example: (Not on scale)
-------------------------------------------------------------------.
| Turns: | Sum: 0# |
| Time: | Choose another coin. |
| Quota: | Break Multiples: 1# 2# 3# |
|____________|______________________________________________________|
| | |

| | B | E E | B |
| | | | |
| | | | |
| | --------------------------------- |
| | |
| | B B B B |
| | |
| | |
-------------------------------------------------------------------.
0# = Your current sum. Meaning its the total of all the coins' number that
you have selected. If you have selected 5 and 6, this will say 11.
1#, 2#, 3# = These are the multiples of the Core Number. If the Core Number
is 2 and you haven't selected any coins, it will say 2 4 6.
4# & #5 = Explained in more details later on later on. Coint count is the
number of coins you used on the last sphere break (aka last turn).
Echos is how much quota you'll gain if you keep on using the same
number of coins for this turn.
B = Border Coins
E = Entry Coin
---------------------
Coin Count and Echo
---------------------
This is how you'll win most of your battles easily. All you need to do is
keep on using the same number of coins for each turn. Using more or less
coins will restart the cycle, so you'll probably need to keep that in mind.
The Echo only gives quota after you have repeated the Coin Count once, and
if you do it again, it will stack up.
Example:
Turn 1 Turn 2 Turn 3 QB = Quota Bonus
Coins used: 3 Coins used: 3 Coins used: 3
Echo -> 0 Echo -> 1 Echo -> 2
QB = +1 QB = +2
------------
Echo Table
------------
This table displays the number of Quota you can earn for using the same
number of coins in every turn. Total Gained is how quota will be earned
in total from all previous echoes. This list does not count any quota
gained by using Border Coins.
Note: If the Core Number is 1, then the whole process starts over again.
Regardless how well you were doing.

Tips for Normal Play
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
These are a few ways that you can master this game without the cheat sheet
that is mentioned later on in this Guide.
1. Decide to use either 2, 3, or 4 coins per turn. Then aim to get that
many coins used per turn.
2. Never do 1 coin per turn echoes. Soon you're going to be left with 7 or
less coins, and some of them might even be duplicates.
3. If you're doing 2s, find 2 coins that equals a multiple of the Core
Number. Remember, one Entry and one Border. If you can't find a border,
you may use another Entry.
4. If you're doing 3s, pick any coin that isn't already a multiple of the
Core number. Then look at the Break Multiple Numbers, subtract one of
them with your sum to get a new number. Memorize that number and keep
saying that number to yourself, next find two numbers that adds up to
that. But, be careful and do a 2er instead. If you noticed that one of the
coins will make it a 2er, use the other one first.
5. If you're doing 4s, pick any two coins that isn't a multiple of the Core
Number. Then do the same thing mentioned in 3. Be warned that even though
this works well to finish off Shinra off fast, you sometime might be
stuck with coins that forces you to do a combo besides a 4er. So if
you're using this, make sure to pick 2 or 3 Border Coins for your combo
for every turn.
6. From a small part of 5, always make sure to pick Border Coins while
trying to do any combo, at least 1. You never might know when that
sneaky '1' (as in Core Number) to ruin your game.
7. Never get mad because you used the wrong coins. And don't throw the
controller on the ground or at anyone. It's your own fault. Also, did
you think patiently for 20 seconds before selecting a coin?
8. If this still doesn't help you get the right combo, read on.

The Cheat Sheet
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.
You can find this very hard to use or very simple. If you want to use this
with ease, I suggest you write this down on notebook paper, preferably
college rule paper.
This list will require you to first look up one of the Entry Coin (the one
that you're planning to use), and then look directly at the Core Number.
Here a small tutorial:
U = The number that is being used per turn
E = Entry Coin being used
Refer to A _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Refer to B _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

U = 3
E = 1 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7 | 8 | 9 |

| |
\_ _ _ _ _ _ Refer to C _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _/
A = Like mentioned above, these are the coins used per turn and Entry Coin.
The coins used per turn will be organized, so you'll need to pay
attention to which entry coin is being used, aka E.
B = These are the Core Numbers. If the Core number is 8, look down at the C.
section. Read C for more details.
C = These are the numbers that you can use to make a Sphere Break. 16
doesn't mean sixteen. It means to use the coins that have 1 and 6, as
listed under 8. 1 + 6 = 7. Now take that 7 and add it with the Entry
Coin (E) and you'll get 8, which makes a Sphere Break
There are some things you should know about my listing, espically on C. If
list 494, that means select 4 first, then 9, and then 4. If you select 4
and 4, and then 9 last, I can't guarantee that a sphere break will occur
before you select 9.
Also, my listing will display all possible combination. Even if there were
some other combination, it would just have number flipped around only.
A multiple of 1 won't ever be on the list because all numbers are a multiple
of 1. Therefore, getting a 1 as a Core Number is bad.
If you know your entry coins already, just copy down the table that has it.
You don't need to use all the tables to get the concept of this guide.
For the first version, Coins combination for using 2 and 3 coins will be
listed. I have started to work on 4, but you couldn't imagine how long it
takes to write that list up. I may need to minimize that list and find
duplicates of the same number. 2s are used to easily beat low quota players.
3s can beat any player as long as Core Number 1 doesn't frequently show up.
