Well this is my fourth FAQ. It's been a long break since I wrote an
incomplete one for Tales of Destiny 2 (shame on me!).This document is meant

reserved for Final Fantasy II). This FAQ/Walkthrough is copyright of Ibrahim

2. Introduction

You don't really need this in an FAQ do you? It might be useful to note that
you do not need to play the game predecessor a.k.a. Fatal Frame to be able to
understand the story. Just play this, enjoy, then go pick up the first game.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Basics/Controls

-=Controls=-

In the options screen, you are allowed to choose 2 different Movement Schemes,
2D or 3D as well as Control Schemes Type A, B or C.

2D - Directions relative to screen.
This scheme is the same as the one available in Fatal Frame. As this is easy
to get used to, I recommend this for Fatal Frame veterans as well as newbies.

3D - Up to go forward, left/right to turn.
A copy of the Resident Evil control scheme, this scheme is most suitable for
Resident Evil fanati...i mean experts.

Type A, B or C maps various game actions to the Playstation 2 controller.
Rather than repeating what the game has to display, I'll explain the various
actions instead.

-=3rd Person View Actions=-

Move           - Moves character based on Movement Controls
Flashlight     - Points flashlight in pressed direction
Menu           - Access menu
Search         - Search surrounding area for items/info
Run            - Run when held
Viewfinder ON  - switches viewfinder ON
Map            - Brings map up to screen
Pause          - Pauses game

-=Viewfinder Mode Actions=-

Move           - Moves character based on Movement Controls
Look           - Moves character's view
Shutter        - Snaps a picture
Viewfinder OFF - switches viewfinder OFF

-=Special Viewfinder Mode Actions=-
(These are only available if the functions are equipped)

Use Power-Up Lens - Uses equipped Power-Up Lens
Zoom In/Out       - Zoom IN or OUT
Switch Lens       - Toggles between pre-equipped Power-Up Lens

-=Filament=-

*Changes from FFrI*
The filament in FFrII is identical to that found in FFrI with the exception
of its reaction to Wandering Spirits (more explained in Spirit Section).
Instead of glowing orange like in FFrI, it glows blue, similar to its reaction
to Hidden Spirits.
*End Changes*

The filament reacts to spirits in Mio's sight. It glows in 2 different colors
depending on the type of spirit in that area.

Blue   - Non-hostile Spirit. i.e. Wandering Spirits, Hidden Spirits,
Door Spirits, Seal Spirits, Hint Spirits
Orange - Hostile Spirits

The filament glows brighter as you face the proper direction and range of
the spirit. This tool is exceptionally useful and indispensible. Use this as a
radar for all kinds of spirits.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

4. Camera Obscura

*Changes from FFrI*
The Camera is slightly changed from FFrI. Best to read it from the start.
*End Changes*

Throughout your journey, you will find many Spirit Orbs. These orbs are the
primary ingredient in upgrading your Function Upgrades and Power-Up Lens
Upgrades. Each Function/Power-Up Lens has 3 slots for Spirit Orbs.

Once a Spirit Orb is inserted, it cannot be removed. Only when it's inserted
can you use Spirit Points to upgrade the Function/Power-Up Lens. The amount
of points needed differ from level and Function/Power-Up Lens.

-=Function Upgrades=-

Range         -
               Level 1 -
               Level 2 -
               Level 3 -

               Level 1 -  8,000 pts
               Level 2 - 18,000 pts
               Level 3 - 29,000 pts

Track
Use           - Tracks a spirit automatically.
Spirit Stones - 2
Notes         - Like the Chase ability in FFrI. It keeps the crosshair in the
spirit's core. Useful but unfortunately the ability wears off
once a shot which hits the spirit is taken.
Upgrade       - Extends duration
               Level 1 - 30,000 pts

Upgrade       - Increases damage
               Level 1 -
               Level 2 -
               Level 3 -

-=Additional Functions=-

Instant - Detects Fatal Frame. Makes getting the Fatal Frame easier.

Evade   - Avoid damage. Mash on the button when caught by a spirit to evade
it's attack and stun it. There is a set timing to press it though.
I'm not too sure but it's sometime before the scene changes to the
spirit performing it's attack move on you (Black/white scene)

Sense   - Makes visible. Let's you detect spirits you couldn't before. Can
only be gotten after finishing the game once.

-=Equipped Functions=-

Measure - Shows Spirit HP

Switch  - Swaps Power-Up Lenses. Allows you to equip up to 3 lenses and
switch them on the fly in Viewfinder mode.

Alarm   - Fatal Frame alarm. Personally i never heard any sound -_-;

Zoom    - Enables zoom. Only available after finishing the game once. It
isn't as useful as in FFrI due to how the charging works.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5. Spirits

-=Non-hostile Spirits=-

Wandering Spirits
These spirits are harmless and only appear for a limited
amount of time, usually seconds, and appear only once in the game. You have to
be quick on your fingers to catch most of them as many of them are even more
elusive that those found in FFrI.

Hidden Spirits
These spirits are invisible and can only be detected with the
filament. When the filament turns blue and there is no spirit in sight, try
moving the camera view around till the green circle appears. Snap to find a
hidden spirit. These spirits will remain in their spot for most part of the
game.

Special Spirits
These spirits are new in FFrII in that they are not detectable by the filament
or the camera's Targeting Cirle. However the have a core and if you snap them,
you will get their entry in the Spirit List.

Door Spirits
These spirits reside on various doors in the game. They bar you
from entering through the door and usually display a picture when taken
giving a hint of its Seal spirit's whereabouts.

Seal Spirits
These spirits are usually attached to furniture/objects. The seal
spirits releases its connected Door spirit when snapped.

Hint Spirits
Not really spirits but a weird picture will be displayed if you
take a picture of these 'spirits'. They are usually placed there to help you
solve a puzzle. Usually these 'spirits' are event specific and only appear
during the time you need to pass through that event.

-=Hostile Spirits=-

Coming in different shapes and sizes, these spirits are the
bane of the game. There are many kinds and will be further explained in
another section once i have completed it.

-=Capturing Spirits=-

Non-hostile Spirits
A green circle will appear on the spirit indicating
that a picture of that spirit can be taken at this time.

Hostile Spirits
A circle target will appear on the spirit as well as a circle
of words around your targeting circle. Basically you slowly deplete their life
and the spirits will disappear once it's health reaches 0. More on capturing
spirits is available in the Battle section.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

6. Battle

*Changes from FFrI*
It's changed quite a bit. Read the section for more info.
*End Changes*

Battle in FFr series is very different than that of other horror/survival
games. Firstly you battle with a camera rather than a gun. A very cool concept
I might add.

-=Viewfinder Mode Screen Explainations=-

In the Viewfinder mode, there are a few things to take note of :

Filament         - The filament on the top of the screen is an exact replica
of the one in normal view.
Health Bar       - The blue bar at the bottom right of the screen is Mio's
health. If depleted, it's GAME OVER.
Power-Up Lens    - The symbol on the bottom left of the screen represents the
currently equipped Power Lens. More on Power Lens in it's
                  respective section.
Spirit Stones    - The small circles beside the Lens Power-Up symbol shows
the amount of charges available. Charges are used when
Power-Ups Lens are used and a charges when taking shots of
                  spirits.
Targeting Circle - Any spirit cores (small circle things on spirits) which
appear within the circle are 'locked on'. i.e. can be
                  damaged.
Crosshair        - Snapping a photo while the crosshair is in a spirit's core
would result in a Core Shot netting you more points.
Charge up bar    - Drastically changed from FFrI, the charge up bar no longer
charges based on the length of time the spirit is targeted.
Now it acts more like a proximity meter. The closer the
target is, the higher the charge. A higher charge causes
higher damage. A full charge (red) allows a shutterbug
                  moment.
Film             - The film displayed on the top right corner depicts the
equipped film. The bar above that represents the reloading
                  time of the film.

-=Additional Viewfinder Mode Explainations=-

These properties are only activated when their respective camera parts are
found. More in the Camera section.

Spirit Health     - The bar on the top left corner represents the closest
                  spirit's health.
Spare Power Lens - With the power up, up to 3 power lens can be equipped and
can be swapped with a touch of a button.
Fatal Frame      - Located slightly below the filament, this nifty indicator
Indicator          flashes when you get a chance for a Fatal Frame.

-=Shutterbug Moment=-

Imported from the first game, the shutterbug moments are back. However it
works a little differently.

The different shutterbug moments are as follows :

Zero Shot    - Moment when shot with a full(i.e. red) charge bar
Special Shot - Moment when a special effect(i.e. slow) is in effect during
              the frame
Just Kill    - ?
Core Shot    - Shot is made with the Targeting Crosshair in the spirit's core
Close Shot   - Shot made VERY VERY close to the spirit.
Double Shot  - Moment when 2 spirits are shot in the same frame
Triple Shot  - Moment when 3 spirits are shot in the same frame
Double Kill  - Moment when 2 spirits are killed in the same frame
Triple Kill  - Moment when 3 spirits are killed in the same frame

-=Blast Back=-

If a spirit is shot with a fully charged bar, it suffers a Blast Back where
it reels backwards and is unable to attack. This allows a window of
opportunity to run and reposition yourself.

-=Fatal Frame=-

New to FFrII, this is a somewhat new feature. It's actually though a reworked
Zero Shot of FFrI. A Fatal Frame occurs when a frame is taken just before the
spirits attacks Mio. A Fatal Frame is also a prerequisite to combos, a brand
new feature to FFrII. Also, film is immediately reloaded after a Fatal Frame
irrespective of the film's individual reloading time.

-=Combos=-
Once the first Fatal Frame is activated, the spirit will reel back due to the
Blast Back. Immediately after the Blast Back, another Fatal Frame chance will
occur. If successfully taken, this counts as a combo. A combo grants higher
points and damage. The max combo I've taken is 3.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

7. Tips

-=General Tips=-

1) Since your health doesn't regenerate after each chapter, try to keep your
  health above 1/2 bar.
2) Use Type-7 Film when possible to save films for later chapters
3) Search every nook and cranny for items. Not all items appear as a blue dot.
4) Save often!

-=Battle Tips=-

1) Whenever possible, go for Zero Shots or Fatal Frames. A normal shot does
very very minimal damage and is not worth the film used.
2) Combos are the way to go. Remember each spirit's pattern and use it to
create combos. You'll make short work of spirits this way.
3) When facing multiple spirits, focus on one of them till it dies first. If
it gets to tight, don't hesitate to just grab a wild shot and reposition
yourself. There is no need to force a Zero Shot or Fatal Frame EVERY TIME.
4) Use Power-Up Lenses! unlike FFrI, these never run out so use them often
  to aid your battle.
5) Finish off a combo with either Blast Lens or Zero Lens for extra damage and
  MAJOR points.
6) Learn to swap Lens on the fly (once you have enable the ability). This will
help you adapt to different situations easily.
7) You can now run through spirits. As long as it's not attacking, running
through them, you will not be damaged. Use this to reposition yourself when
  trapped.
8) Use Mayu as your decoy. Since Mayu seems to have an unreasonable amount of
health, try to get spirits to target her. This gives you a safe chance for
  a Fatal Frame.
9) All spirits have distinctive patterns which when learnt would make defeating
them very much easier. Learn them!!
10)If caught, mash the shutter button for a chance to evade (once the ability
is activated). There is a set moment to activate it but you would have
better chance by just mashing it.
11)Move around! You aren't a statue in camera mode. Use the right stick to
move around. This is especially important if you want to grab a Fatal
  Frame.
12)You move faster in 3rd person mode. If in a pinch, cancel the camera mode
and reposition yourself before continuing battle.
13)Abuse the square button. Use this to move the targeting circle faster. In
fact, don't keep your fingers off this button.
14)Mio will automatically turn and target a spirit if the camera is brought
up after the spirit appears in 3rd person view.
15)Since there no longer is a turnaround button, do a manual one by switching
out of camera view, turning around and entering camera view again. This is
much faster than turning the camera 180 degrees in camera view.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

8. Walkthrough

Frankly speaking, I feel this game should be first experienced without an FAQ.
However there are bound to be people who get stuck and frustrated easily so
they'll look for an FAQ to find the answer. Thus, I'll try to make the FAQ as
spoiler-free as possible. I will NOT list the spirit fights you will be
having. The strategies to defeat the spirits can be found in another section
though. Preferably i wouldn't list the Wandering Spirits either but i believe
that piece of information is necessary so some scare factor might be lost by
reading this FAQ.

There are items which appear in areas you have visited in later chapters and
there are also items which remain there if you don't pick it up. I will list
the first chance you have to get the items even if it means making a trip
there although it isn't part of the quest. The same goes for Spirits.

I need help in identifying which spirits are enabled with the "Sense"
function. Since i started this on my second game, I already had the "Sense"
function and cannot unequip it. I'm pretty sure it affects only Hidden
Spirits...

-=Legend=-

<...> Indicates the area the section is about.
#...# Indicates the room the section is about.
%...% Indicates an Item found.
@...@ Indicates a File found
{...} Indicates a Wandering/Hidden/Special Spirits to be captured.
(OPT) Indicates optional areas

following: %Black Bag%, @News Clipping@, @Small News Clipping@,
@Couple Photo@. Continue down till you reach a cutscene.

*Note* The spirit which appears is uncapturable. You can get points but it
does not register in your Spirit List.

<Osaka House>

#1F Entrance#
{Waiting Woman} will appear in #1F Kimono Room# past the bars. If this is
your first time through the game, you will not be able to capture the spirit.
Head out the door opposite the one you came from.

#1F Sunken Fireplace Room#
Grab the @Woman's Notebook 1@ from beside the fireplace.

#1F Kimono Room# (OPT)
There is a @Woman's Notebook 2@ on the desk and a %Sacred Water% in a box in
the back room. There's also a save point here.

#1F Dirt-floor Hallway#
Head down the walkway across the entrance. You will soon encounter
{Walks Inside} but will be unable to grab it because you don't have a camera.
Follow the spirit to...

#1F Back Room#
Beside the brazier lies a @Woman's Notebook 3@. Head back the way you came.

#1F Dirt-floor Hallway#
{Vanishes At Altar} appears as you approach the stairway. Follow it.

#1F Family Altar Room#
A %Herbal Medicine% lies beside a folding screen in the next room.
@Woman's Notebook 5@ is hidden in the shelf between the 2 room partitions.
It's directly opposite the entrance to this room.
On the table you will receive the following %Flashlight%,
@Camera Obscura Pointers@, %Camera Obscura%,
%Type-14 Film x 48%(part of the package with the camera),
@Basic Camera Operation@.

After the cutscene, take a picture of the door to receive @Warped Face Lady@.
The photo says "Door Woman" but i can't find any trace of this in the Spirit
List. Hmmm.... Before you try the entrance of the Osaka House, make a detour
to...

#1F Big Tatami Room# (OPT)
{Atrium Woman} appears behind the bars.

#1F Sunken Fireplace Room#
Try to open the door to the entrance of the Osaka House and a cutscene will
roll. After which, an opportunity to catch {Vanishes AT Door} appears. Take
a picture of the door to Big Tatami Room to get a photo of a @Coal Brazier@.
Remember that the targeting circle has to turn green before you can take the
picture.

#1F Back Room#
Taking the Seal Spirit on the brazier nets you a @Slashed Man@ photo and a
chance for {Man On Deck}.

#1F Big Tatami Room#
Now that the seal is broken you can enter this room. Immediately try to exit
the room and a scene will play showing you the location of the %Ginger Key%.

#2F Guest Room#
{Beckoner} greets you on the left side of the door to this room.
A hidden @Woman's Notebook 6@ can be found in the same roomon the table.
In the next room, @Woman's Notebook 7@ can be found by the clock.

As you enter the next room, the screen will turn blurry. This kind of spirit
are unable to be "locked-on" (i.e. have Mio turn and face the spirit on
activating the Viewfinder. Therefore as you enter the room, you have to
manually turn around and take a picture of {Stands Behind}. Note that Mayu
would most probably be in your way so you may have to move a little while in
Viewfinder mode to get a good shot. The spirit is fast so you must be too.

Once that is done, grab the @Woman's Notebook 8@ and @Spirit Capture@ on the
ground.

#Misono Hill#
This is the area where you started the game at. There search the Shinto Gate
and receive the @Village Report 4@. Note that you must have gotten the 4
reports in the Osaka House in order to find this note. Walk away and
{Gate Checker} will appear at the place you found the note.

Search the statue with the butterflies flying about it to get the
%Twin Statue Key L%. After this, find the blue dot behind the save point for
a %Spirit Orb%.

#All God's Cemetery# (OPT)
Heading in the opposite direction from the village brings you to a tree with
a hole. There is nothing there but beside that lies the cemetery. A brief
search of the cemetery will get you a @Glowing Blue Crystal@ and a
%Spirit Orb%.

Head back the way you came...

#Tsuchihara, Front# (OPT)
There should be a @Glowing Purple Crystal@ and a %Spirit Orb% waiting for
you in front of the well beside the Storeroom.

#Kiryu House, Front#
Past the Kiryu House Entrance, a hidden %Type-14 Film x 15% lie in the stone
beside the twin statue.

#Kiryu House, Back#
Search the statue with the butterflies flying about it to get the
%Twin Statue Key R%. Now you can either head back to #Kiryu-Tachibana#'s
locked gate or get some optional items (recommended).

#Fork in Road# (OPT)
Search the row of stones left on the Shinto Gate (assuming you are facing the
gate) and you will find @Village Report 1@. Note that you must have gotten
the 4 reports in the Osaka House in order to find this note. {Statue Checker}
appears as you walk away.

#Kureha Shrine Path# (OPT)
At the top of the stairs, a %Sacred Water% lie beneath a lamp. As you
approach the Shrine door, you might notice your filament detecting something
the Hidden Spirit, {Shrine Shadow} lie to the right of the Shrine door.

Search the entrance to the shrine to find the @Village Report 3@. IMPORTANTLY
do not enter the Shrine after getting the note. Instead run back towards the
stairs to make {Man At Shrine} appear. If you miss him here, you can only
get him in a later chapter (i.e. Chapter Nine).

If you have found all 4 extended Village Reports and taken all 4 pictures
of the Surveyor, a new @Village Report 5@ drops.

#Kureha Shrine# (OPT)
A hidden %Herbal Medicine% in the jars when you turn right just after
entering the room. A %Spirit Orb% lie to the left of the altar. You can access
the section behind the altar from the hole to the right of the altar. There
you will find a %Sacred Water%.

#Kiryu-Tachibana#
Search the door to automatically use the twin keys to unlock it.

#Whisper Bridge#
There is a %Herbal Medicine% in the pathway to the right of the bridge. You
have to run to that area before the camera view changes and you are able to
see the item.

As you cross the bridge, about 3/4 of the way through, you filament will glow
look out to the left to find the {Floating Woman}.

After you snap the photo, you can get the @Green Crystal@ and %Spirit Orb% on
the ground about midway through the bridge. Also in that area there is a
Hidden Spirit, {Drowned Woman} which can be found in the small hole on the
bridge floor. Once ready, enter the Kurosawa House.

<Kurosawa>

#1F Grounds#
Immediately once you enter, {Bloody Kimono} will appear. Just snap her.
Also at the right corner of the section lies an out of the way %Spirit Orb%.
Enter the Kurosawa House to end the chapter.

<Kurosawa>

#1F Entrance#
Once in the house, the flashlight will stop working. I hate this place...
As you proceed further into the house, {Priest Behind} will appear at the
entrance door. Also stand in the hanging curtains in the center of the room
and aim up to a ledge on the 2nd floor for a Hidden Spirit, {Looking Down}.

Further down the hallway, there are 2 doors. One of the is locked so enter the
other.

#1F Antechamber#
As you enter the room, you will catch sight of a special spirit between the
wall and the partition. {Terrified Man} is special as he doesn't register in
your filament! Just snap a photo of him. He isn't time based but will
disappear if you get too close to him.

In one corner of the room, a blue dot gives you %"Instant" Equipped Function%,
@The "Instant" Function@ and %Type-14 Film x 30% (with Camera Eqpt.). Also in
the corner the spirit was, search the drawer to find hidden %Herbal Medicine%
and the drawer beside it for a hidden %Type-14 Film x 15%. Exit the room
through the other door.

:Mayu's Scene:
Just follow the path across the hallway. It's impossible to get lost since
the game blocks you from straying from the path.

#1F Dirt-floor Passageway#
At the end of the hallway is a %Spirit Orb%. Close to it and just beside the
sliding door is a hidden @Glowing Green Crystal@.

#1F Great Hall#
In one corner of the section in the middle of the room lies a %Sacred Water%.
Also in the center of the room is a @Fluorite@.

Ok...I mentioned that I wouldn't list any spirit fights to avoid spoilers but
I have to make an exception. As you head to the next door, there will be a
cutscene after which, a very large spirit will start chasing you. This spirit
is INVINCIBLE. He cannot be caught on camera. So what you have to do is RUN!!
He is relatively slow so you wouldn't have a problem outrunning him. Just
don't get stuck in the corner and you will do find.

The door beside the one you came into the room by is a Storeroom. That room is
useless for now so head for the other door on the other side of the room.
However if you can spare the time, there is a hidden %Type-90 Film% in the
small hole to the left of the door to ...

#1F Courtyard Staircase#
The spirit will stop chasing you here. At the far end of the hallway lies a
%Stone Mirror%. As you are approaching the stairs, {2nd Floor Mayu} appears
on the 2nd floor walkway. Once you see the scene of her walking, immediately
bring up your Viewfinder, aim up and adjust so you can get a good shot of her.
This shot is tough as there is only a small window for you to grab it.

#2F Courtyard Staircase#
Standing beside the save point, aim up to the roofs for a hidden spirit,
{Unrequited}.

#2F Guest Room Hallway#
There is nothing of interest here so just continue along the hallway till you
reach the room on the other end.

#2F Guest Room#
The drawer beside the door you came in through has a hidden %Type-61 Film%.
The bookshelf contains @Folklorist 3@. Head to the next room.

#2F Flickering Room#
A hidden %Herbal Medicine% lies in the drawer opposite the locked door. Also
grab a picture of the locked door for a @Bloody Wall@. Retrace your steps to
#1F Dirt-floor Passageway#. Yes you have to pass through the Invincible Spirit
again.

#1F Dirt-floor Passageway#
As you walk through the passageway, {Fleeing Villager} appears. You need to
be quick as once he starts running backwards, you won't be able to catch him.

Also further along the passageway, {Dragger} appears and leads you to your
destination.

#1F Bloodstained Room#
In the middle of the room lies %"Blast" Power-Up Lens%,
@The "Blast" Power-Up Lens@ and %Type-14 Film x 30% (with Camera Eqpt.).
The stack of drawers hides a %Herbal Medicine%.

Once you've found the items, snap a picture of the moving door to shut it.

Before you are able to leave this room, you will receive the
%Diamond Stack Key%.

#1F Dirt-floor Passageway#
Just outside the #Bloodstained Room# lies a blue dot with a
@Faintly Glowing Crystal@ and a %Spirit Orb%. Go past the invincible spirit
again to...

#2F Guest Room#
As you enter the room, {Turns Head} appears at the bookshelf. You have to
grab him as he is doing the animation of turning around in order to register
him into your list. He drops a @Folklorist 4@.

#2F Flickering Room#
Here you will receive the %Twin Doll Heads%. There is also a hidden

Spirit, {Doll Stand Shadow} lies waiting in the space between the doll stand
and the wall.

#2F Guest Room#
On the desk lies @Kurosawa House Map@ and @Folklorist 6@. No you did not miss
Folklorist 5. If you look closely, a hand is sticking out from the window.
Switch to Viewfinder mode and snap it to receive 2 spirits, {Hanging Hand}
and {No Escape}.

#2F Guest Room Hallway#

#1F Great Hall#
Nothing to do here but if you have gotten Village Report 5 (see Chapter 2
walkthrough), head to the Storeroom which was empty before.

#1F Storeroom#
Here you will find {Exhausted Man} and %Bloody Ring%. Remember you need to get
all the Village Reports (1-5) to get this event. Now head back to the
#1F Entrance# to continue with the story.

#1F Dirt-floor Passageway#
Passing by here, you may get a %Spirit Orb% here.

#1F Entrance#
Before you unlock the door with the Butterfly Key, make a short trip towards
the entrance to catch {Curtain Shadow}. This spirit doesn't register on your
filament so you got to watch out for the 'heartbeat' sound to know it's
coming.

After searching the entrance door and discovering it is locked, {Behind Cloth}
appears umm.. behind the cloth...doh. Finally, use the Butterfly Key to unlock
the door you previously couldn't enter.

#1F Storage Room#
Search near the clock for a hidden %Sacred Water% and the drawers opposite
the clock for a hidden %Herbal Medicine%.

As you approach the half-closed door to the #1F Cloth Hallyway#,
{Child At Door} appears. However, don't enter the #1F Cloth Hallway# yet and
make your way up the stairs instead.

#2F Partition Screen Room#
A hidden @Ceremony Master's Note 3@ lies in the drawers directly opposite the
stairs. Also a hidden %Type-14 Film x 15% can be found in the box between the
partitions on the left side of the room.

In the middle section. you will find a hole in the floor and can see an item
stuck there. Leave it for now and head towards the door in the room.
{Peeking Child} appears as you head there. You however, do not need to enter
the room yet and i suggest you go down the stairs again for now.

#1F Storage Room#
As you walk down the stairs a %Crimson Ball% drops from the ceiling. Head
back upstairs to the...

#2F Partition Screen Room#
Drop the ball down the hole to free the item. Both items drop to the ground
below.

#1F Storage Room#
The item turns out to be the %Diamond Link Key%. Pick it up and head down the
hallway...

#1F Cloth Hallway#
Just past the door you find a %Type-14 Film x 15%. Also as you enter the
hallway, {Fading Child} appears briefly. Just past the double doors ahead,
{Cut-In Child} appears. This spirit is extremely annoying and is very fast so
you'd probably miss it if you don't know it's coming.

Head to the door at the end of the hallway and unlock it.

#1F Storehouse#
{Warehouse Checker} appears as soon as you enter. Follow it to the cell.

#1F Cell#
{Captive Man} appears as you enter and on the table lies the @Folklorist 8@.

#1F Storehouse#
In the back section of the storehouse hides a %Type-61 Film%. Also in the long
passageway, if you leave Maya a little distance behind you, {Clinging Shadow}
will appear. If you miss it, just head back to the cell and run at full speed
across the passageway and you'll see it.

Now you either head to the #B1 Underground Cellar#(OPT) or back to the
#Cloth Hallway#.

#1F Cloth Hallway#
{Ritual Pusher} appears to lead you to the double doors which coincidentally,
is now unlocked.

#1F Family Altar Room#
@Ceremony Master's Note 1@ lies on the altar and @Ceremony Master's Note 4@
lies in on of the slots in the wall of the east side of the room. On the west
side of the room, %Herbal Medicine% lie in wait.

This room has 2 staircases heading down in the west and east part of the room
and a staircase heading up on the west side of the room. Head up first.

#2F Family Altar Room#
%"See" Power-Up Lens%, @The "See" Power-Up Lens@ and
%Type-14 Film x 30% (with Camera Eqpt.) lie in front of the small window and
on the table, you will find the @Butterfly Diary 3@.

Lead Maya to the switch in the room to have her stand on it so you can enter
the small door there.

#2F Master's Room# - side section
@Butterfly Diary 2@ is in plain view in front of you as you enter. Head to the
end of the section to see {Speaking Man}. Wait for him to finish talking and
the game will prompt you that you heard something drop in the other room.

Before you head there, from the #1F Family Altar Room#, head down the west
staircase.

#B1 Family Altar Room# - West stairs
A %Sacred Water% can be found here. Go through the door you find here.

#1F Connecting Corridor#
In the center of the room, the path split in 2 with a row of trees in the
center. Both path has a switch at the end. Follow either path and wait for
Mayu to arrive there so that she will step on it. Once she has done that, head
to the other path to unlock the door.

{Waiting Priest} appears as you enter the room. You will also find the
%Shadow Key% here.

#1F Rope Temple# (OPT)

be done here so head back to the...

#1F Family Altar Room#
You might find a @Glowing Red Crystal@ and %Spirit Orb% near the door to the

#2F Master's Room#
You might find a %Spirit Orb%. There are a few things of value in the room.
A hidden @Ceremony Master's Note 2@ lies on the white sheet hanging on the
railing. The hexagonal shaped altar in the center of the room holds 5 tomes:
@Crimson Wing Tome@, @Taboo Tome@, @Twin Tome@, @Disaster Tome@,
@Ritual Tome@. The last side (the side facing the door to
#2F Partition Screen Room#) should hold a statue (if you did the
#2F Master's Room# - side section even above).

You must have gotten all 5 tomes around it before you can attempt to solve
the puzzle.

9. Spirit Strategies

This section is VERY incomplete so please be patient. In order to avoid
spoilers, I will not be listing the chapters nor areas the spirits appear in.
However the names of the spirit might prove to be a spoiler so watch out.

This section will be in the following format

-=Spirit Name=-
Attacks : Attack Description [Fatal Frame timing for attack]
Notes   : My notes and how to defeat it

-------------------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------------------

-=Wanderer=-
Attacks : Rushes towards you [Frame with arms outstretched ready to grab]
Notes   : Wanderer loves to teleport so you gotta swirl around looking for it.
If it appears with it's back facing you crying, it will not attack
you, giving you a free shot. If it faces you, get ready for it to
rush towards you and lunge when it approaches.

-=Man in the Dark=-
Attacks : Bends down before standing up and trying to grab you.
[As its trying to grab you]
Notes   : Very easily beaten. When it bends down, just keep backing up while
aiming slightly above his back. His head will pop out in a while
         along with a Fatal Frame.

-=Woman in the Dark=-
Attacks : Bends down before standing up and trying to grab you.
[As its trying to grab you]
Notes   : A replica of -=Man in the Dark=-? I'm not sure...need to research.

-=Seeker=-
Attacks : Swipes at you once with his torch [Just as the torch is landing]
Notes   : His Fatal Frame is very difficult to catch normally as it occurs
just as the hit lands. I suggest you use "Slow" and go as near as
possible to it to lure it to start it's attacking animation then
backup and grab the Fatal Frame.

-=Sickle Bearer=-
Attacks : Slashes you multiple times [As the sickle is dropping]
Notes   : If his first hit connects, he will continue for a 3 hit combo.
Use the same strategies as -=Seeker=- to fell him.

-=Pole Bearer=-
Attacks : Winds down and strikes with pole from above
[When he holds the pole up at its the peak before striking it down]
Notes   : His attack are a little slower than the 2 other villager types so
its easier to get his Fatal Frame. Still casting "Slow" never hurts.

-=Sunken Woman=-
Attacks : Flies towards you, swooping down the up as it reaches you and grabs
         you [As it's grabbing you]
Swoops down and appears at your legs trying to grab you.
         [As it's grabbing you]
Notes   : She swirls around you till she decides to do either one of her
attacks. During this time, you are free to take some potshots of
her. She normally does her second attack when her life gets low.
When she does it just keep backing up while aiming at your feet.
Make sure you have enough space to back up.

-=Woman in Box=-
Attacks : Attack Description [Fatal Frame timing for attack]
Notes   : My notes and how to defeat it

-=Veiled Priest=-
Attacks : Attack Description [Fatal Frame timing for attack]
Notes   : My notes and how to defeat it
