I. Introduction
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Hi everybody! This is my first FAQ ever! As you may have guessed it
is a character guide for one of my favourites Zhou Yu. Now I haven’t
played any other Dynasty Warrior games, so I can’t really tell you how
much he has improved, or if he has gotten worse. Zhou Yu’s main
advantages would have to be his speed and his combo abilities. These
are the main reasons that I play as him, and because he’s combos are
visually impressive, with all the spins and stuff he does, make him
a very worthy opponent to anyone (well maybe not Lu Bu in a duel on
Hu Lou Gate, now that’s just impossible).

II. Update Information
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Version 0.85 17/3/2004 – Started the FAQ. I was sick from school
today and was bored so I decided to write an FAQ. Today the saga
begins. Hopefully this section will get bigger.
Version 0.86 24/3/2004 - Corrected some spelling mistakes and fixed a
couple of problems in the guide. Not too much. It's all good.
Version 1.00 17/4/2004 - Completed the bio of Zhou Yu, along with the
entire guide. YES!! Done! Now all I have to do is get it onto GameFAQs
so you can use it. Hopefully they'll like it.... Oh yeah I also
changed my catch phrase down the bottom from 'I Like Chicken'. Take a
look. I'm stoked!!!!
Version 1.01 21/4/2004 - Submitted to GameFAQs. YAY!!
Version 1.01 22/4/2004 - Rejected by GameFAQs. F**K!!!!!

III. Who the hell is Zhou Yu?
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Dynasty Warriors 4 is based on REAL events from Chinese history.
There is a book called ‘Romance of The Three Kingdoms’ which is all
about it. If you’re game enough to read all 2600 pages you’ll get the
idea. I’m still currently looking for a copy to browse through myself
(yeah right).
Well first you’ll want to unlock this walking (or rather running)
tank. To do this you have to play in musou mode and clear Wu Act II:
The Alliance against Dong Zhuo. It’s that easy.
Bio: Zhou Yu is one of the many Wu officers. He is the sworn brother
to his Lord Sun Ce. According to Sun Ce's will, Zhou Yu became cheif
lieutenant to the young Sun Quan. At the battle of Chi Bi Zhou Yu
served as commander leading Wu to victory against the much larger Wei
side commanded by Cao Cao. He was often complimented on his good
looks. Oh yeah, he's also a top bloke!

IV. Weapons
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\

Few! If you can see any mistakes here, or know the attack powers for
each weapon please contact me and let me know. My e-mail is in the
contact information section. You will be given credit for your
contribution. Plaese don't e-mail me saying 'I think it's around 30'
or anything like that. Plaese don't e-mail me asking for the attack
powers as I clearly don't know myself yet. If you do I'll have to kick
your arse. Thanks.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
V. Acquiring Ancients Sword
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Zhou Yu’s ultimate weapon is the Ancients Sword. Here I’ll walk you
through how to obtain this weapon of mass destruction.
Ancient Sword: + 54 Attack Power
With this sword, any orb he has equipped will take effect even when
Zhou Yu’s musou gauge is not full.
Level: Siege on Fan Castle
Army: Wu
Play mode: Musou or free mode.
You must defeat the Supply Captain yourself. That means bodyguards
can’t take kill him for you. If they are too strong turn them off.
You must be playing in hard mode. The first time I attempted to get
the weapon I was playing in normal and I was wondering why it was so
easy. Always check before you start!
The items I used for this level are: Shadow Harness (can’t fall off),
Fire Orb, Tiger Amulet, Peacock Urn, Dragon Amulet, Wind Scroll and
Way of Musou.
To get the weapon all you have to do is wait for about ten minutes
until the Supply Unit appears to the east of Fan Castle. Then quickly
run over there and kill the Supply Captain. Easy right? WRONG! About
half way through the stage your commander Lu Meng will come out to
help with the fight. Then a short time later the entire Wei army will
charge out and attack him and his sub-officer Cheng Pu. To prevent
them slaughtering your commander along with the hopes of gaining the
Ancient Sword, at the start of the stage kill all the Gate Captains
you can to lower their unit moral as much as humanely possible. Also
take out Xu Huang and Zhen Ji. Xu Huang is in the south east trying to
destroy a siege weapon. Zhen Ji is in the east doing the same thing.
Then when Wei charges out of the castle kill Sima Yi, Xu Zhu and Man
Chong. You should also destroy the gates in the castle when it opens
up. Only spare Cao Ren, killing everything around your commander. By
this time they should have no gates remaining. Then when the Supply
Unit appears, get on your trusty Shadow Runner (not Red Hair as you
will be knocked off every time without fail) and race through the
castle and kill him BEFORE he enters the castle otherwise he’ll
disappear and mission failed. You also receive an item from killing
the Supply Captain. Then race over and kill Cao Ren to end the level
and receive your reward.

VI. Attacks
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Zhou Yu has, in my opinion, some of the best combo moves in the
game. These can be used to juggle an enemy multiple time for huge
damage. He is especially useful for cutting down enemy officers but
not so much for clearing crowds like Zhang Fei or Xu Zhu who just like
to slaughter people, I think.
This is simple: S = Square button attack T = Triangle button attack
T – Just like a lot of other characters. Zhou Yu shoots a energy shot
thing out of his hand. Changes according to the orb you have equipped.
When you have an orb activated, instead of shooting just one shot, he
shoots three side by side. This is great for hitting crowds when the
orb is in effect.
ST – Zhou Yu slashes the enemy once and then uppercuts them high
into the air.
SST – Two hits then a huge combo depending on how many times T is
pushed and the level of your weapon. This would have to be my
favourite move with him as it can take down even the toughest enemies.
SSST – Three hits then jumps in the air, floating horizontally, then
spinning clockwise for a hit, then anticlockwise for a hit and then
blowing the opponent away with another clockwise spin shot.
SSSST – The same as ST but with three more hits before the uppercut.
Also if you keep hitting T he will do another three hits in the air
and if you press it again, he will do his air charge move.
SSSSST – A big five hit combo, then Zhou Yu slashes the air with his
sword, creating a sword shaped beam thingy that shoots out FOR EVER.
if you have two people playing have Zhou Yu shoot it out and the other
player a bit infront of him. You should see it shoot past.
SSSSSS – A simple, but effective six hit combo, blowing the enemy
away on the last hit for a short distance. Good, but it doesn't
activate your orb.
R3 Taunt – Zhou Yu spins around and ends up in some ballet type
stance, stuning everyone around him.
Running Attack – You can perform this after seven or eight steps. He
does several slashes while running and ends with a 360 degree sword
swing. This is great for clearing crowds on the easyier levels, as the
opponents are weak.
Jump Attack – A simple sword swing. Nothing special. This is good in
duels.
Jump Charge – Zhou Yu pounds into the ground. Hard. Easily
interrupted. But also effective in crowds.
Musou – Swings his sword up from the ground quickly and powerfully,
finishing with a 360 degree slash.
True Musou – The same as regular musou but with fire attack and
finishes with the same combo as his SSST move delivering a massive
amount of damage.
Horse Attack – Simple slash either side of the horse. Again, nothing
special.
Horse Charge – The same as the horse attack, but charges for half a
second and delivers a lot more damage. Sadly this doesn't activate
your orb. :(
Horse Musou – Unless you’re about to die don’t waste your time (even
then I wouldn’t use it). It’s just a continuous horse attack. The
horse also stops when it is finished leaving you vulnerable to
attacks.

VII. Costumes
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
As you play through the game you gain experience, which rises your
rank. When you reach certain ranks you gain new costumes for your
characters to wear during battle.
Costume One: Initially available.
Costume Two: A cheep rip off of One. Different colours.
Costume Three: Same colours as One, but with big hair.
Costume Four: A cheep rip off of Three. Different colours.
Costume Five: As far as I know this is his Dynasty Warriors 3 costume.
Costume Six: A cheep rip off of Five. Different colours.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
VIII. Kind of Easy Experience
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
The best way I’ve found to level up new characters is to play the
level Race for Nan Territory. On this level you can get +12 Attack and
+12 Defence. You can also get two items. I’ve even got a few orbs on
this level. The people that give you the items are Wang Lang and Cao
Hong. If you are fast enough you can also kill Man Chong, but he is
killed very easily and quickly by Zhou Yun. You get +4 Defence off Xu
Huang and +8 off Cao Ren.You get +4 attack from Zhang Liao and +8
attack from Xiahou Dun. The musou pick up is in a small room near Cao
Ren's original position. It's slightly north east of there. The life
pick up is in the castle area, on the left wall, north of an enemy
stronghold and up the staircase.
Now this is not a very easy level. With a new character you will
want strong bodyguards set to pike, Shadow Runner, Peacock Urn and/or
Tortoise Amulet and/or Cavalry Armour depending on how many item slots
you have. You’ll want all the defence and life you can get. Set your
bodyguards to attack and pick up the items the officers leave when
your bobyguards are done. If you are lucky you can even race over and
get the last hit on an officer to get the weapon experience.
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
IX. Recommended Equipment
/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\/\
Now Zhou Yu is one of the lucky characters that get five item slots.
Use this to your advantage! With the right items you will be able to
stomp on anyone so hard you’ll have to scrape them off your shoe.
Harness: Shadow Runner. The best horse there is. Can’t be knocked
off when you’re riding or getting on. You still take damage though.
Orb: I have two choices here. Fire or Vorpal. If you haven’t got
Zhou Yu’s 10th weapon yet, go with fire. Personally I just prefer
Vorpal. Use whatever you want (except poison. That just plain sucks).
Note that Vorpal can only do an instatnt kill to an officer on level
four, but anything lower and it still does extra damage and can still
instant kill regular soldiers. Mine is on level three.
Item One: Peacock Urn. Life is good. If you have life you’re not dead.
You’ll last longer in fights.
Item Two: Tortoise Amulet. For the same reason as Peacock Urn. Don’t
die!
Item Three: Tiger Amulet. Strength is good. Kill people. Carnage is
your friend.
Item Four: Dragon Amulet. With this and a high musou stat you can do a
20+ hit combo just with his musou.
Item Five: Way of Musou. True Musou all the time. You can’t go
wrong!
