all that Zhang He rules all! In anycase sorry to of got away from
myself for a moment there.......let me give you all the know how to
getting things done with Zhang He.
Table of Contents

1) Bio of Zhang He
- Zhang He is of course an officer serving in the Wei forces. At first
He was once apart of Yuan Shao's forces, fighting against the Wei
army with him. But due to false charges brought against him by Guo Tu
he was backed into a corner. Zhang He escaped from Yuan Shao's camp
and joined up with Wei (A brilliant move I might add). Once he joined
Wei, his brilliance shown on the battlefield many times. He fought
mainly against the Shu forces. His tactics in battle made even Zhuge
Liang admire his talent. Zhang He's most duely noted victory was
against Ma Su at Jie Ting. By surrounding and blocking off all means
of escape, Zhang He decimated Ma Su and caused him to retreat with
his tail between his legs. Zhang He's noted as one of the Five Tiger
Generals of Wei for many reasons. Zhang He often sees the beauty of
things even in battle, and it is with this that many have thought of
him as gay. In reality he isn't, he's just narcissitic. Meaning, he's
very vain of himself, thinking that he's the most beautiful out of
all. Zhang He was killed in an ambush while chasing after Wei Yan,
who was retreating to pull him into a trap layed by Zhuge Liang.
Once he followed Wei Yan toward Mumen road the road was blocked,
Crossbowmen shot Zhang He and killed him. This happened when
Zhuge Liang was withdrawing the Shu armies from an expidition into
Wei territory, because of a letter from Li Yan who said that Wu was
preparing to invade the riverlands. The letter was later discovered
to be written by Li Yan because he was trying to hide that he had not
arranged for rations to be sent to the Shu Armies. Li Yan was
demoted to a commoner and taken to Zitong district. On a personal
note, despite what most think of him, don't take him lightly when
fighting against him. He's one of the quickest and most formidable
enemies you can face in this game.
2) Earning Zhang He
- To earn him you must go through Musou Mode with any Wei character
that you currently have. Basically a message will show up eventually
saying that you've earned him. I earned him going into the 4th act
for Wei. That may be the same time you guys earn him as well.
3) Attacks
- Here I'll explain his attacking methods....
- By pressing just Square, you'll get a nice combo that does well to
cover all around him. He slashes around himself with both claws, so
it is sometimes hard to attack him from behind. There's not much
that's bad about his regular combo.
- Just pressing Triangle alone makes him back flip into the air, then
continues to back flip forwards slashing in circles. You must press
Triangle repeatedly to get the most out of this move.
- S,T - Makes him do a high kick. Launches enemies upward, but you
can't follow them on this one.
- S,S,T - Makes him do an extra combo. This move gains strength and
more attacks each time you advance to the next weapon of his.
He slashes widly at the opponent before lunging forward to
smack the opponent (and anyone near the enemy or behind him)
away.
- S,S,S,T - Makes him do a lunge attack. This move is great for
clearing out a path through many enemies. Don't use it
against only one enemy if that's all you're fighting.
- S,S,S,S,T - His launcher attack. Kicks the enemy into the air,
follows them, slashes them a bit and smacks them down to
the ground.
- S,S,S,S,S,T - This attack takes some getting use to. Zhang He dashes
back and forth extremely quickly in straight line. He
does this from left to right. Whoever you're currently
attacking will get the bulk of the damage of this
attack, but anyone that's caught in it from the sides
will too receive a fair amount of damage. This is a
good move to take out those in front of you, but you
still have to worry about your back.
- On a horse he slashes back and forth from side to side, also he
reaches far to the ground the better the the weapon you have, so he's
pretty good on a horse. Pressing Triangle makes him slash in both
directions at the same time, but he doesn't reach down as far as if
doing it regularly. So just use this to swat away pesky privates
when they jump up to knock you off your horse.
- His Musou attack takes a bit to get use to, but once you do it's
dangerous. He moves quickly darting back and forth. Take the time
to practice getting this move down to where you can hit only one
person with it totally. It is possible to hit only one enemy many
times with this move, but this move is meant solely for clearing out
a massive amount of enemies at one time. This attack can also be
used as a very handy escape tool. Whenever you need to get away from
a certain enemy, then just use this attack. Just hit them once, and
while they're on the ground proceed to move Zhang He in the opposite
direction.
- His jump attack is pretty decent as well. He slashes outward with
both claws. Great at hurting enemies bunched up together.
- His running attack is a slide. This is a great move to take out a
group of enemies at once.
3) Weapon
- Here you'll learn about his weapon and how to get the 10th one as
well.....
- Iron Claw -
Lvls 1-3
Has only 3 blades on it. Resembles Wolverine with this weapon. This is
his starting weapon.
Only 4 attacks
- Strike Claw -
Lvls 4-6
Now with 4 blades. Should have a nice amount of strength with this
weapon.
5 attacks
- Peacock Talon -
Lvls 7-9
The main weapon that he totes around in his pics. Starting on level 9
you already get +43 strength. Ahhh.....now you're liking this guy's
finer things huh?
All attacks open
- The 10th Weapon -
- Ok first off there's a few things that you must do before you can
consider even going after the 10th weapon. First you must get his
weapon up to level 9. Basically just keep leveling the weapon up til
it can't go any higher. Next off you're gonna have to play the game
on hard. If you're still a rookie to the DW scene then take your time
practicing things on normal, then go to hard on some of the easier
stages until you start to get the hang of things on hard. Fortunately
this can be done on Free Mode, so no worries there. Here's a check
list of what you need to do.
- Have earned Zhang He
- Have weapon to level 9
- Have earned the stage Battle at Jie Ting
- Made sure to put the difficulty setting on Hard
- Have adequetly highten your stats
- Ok.......lets get the Phoenix Talon.......
- First off you're going to have to trap Ma Su in his camp. Sima Yi
orders you to do this at the very beginning. In order to do that you
must defeat all 3 under officers of Ma Su. They're all located in the
areas that the gates would be to trap him (at the bottom, left-middle
and top of the screen). Once you've managed to defeat these 3 Ma Su
will complain and charge after Sima Yi.
- At this moment in time you should focus solely on Ma Su since he's
going straight after Sima Yi. It doesn't matter where you defeat him,
just do it. Soon after Ma Su tries to go kamikaze after Sima Yi, the
Shu forces will arrive. Ignore them for now, and make sure to take
out Ma Su first. You really don't have to take him out first though,
but since he's the only one at this moment making a run for your main
general it would be wise to get rid of him now.
- When the Shu forces arrive you must defeat all the officers and any
under officers that any of them have before fighting Zhuge Liang.
Once you've succesfully defeated all officers and under officers then
defeat Zhuge Liang to complete the stage.
- When you've completed the stage the results screen will come up
telling all the points you've earned, and all the items you've got.
When the screen for your weapon appears you should see the Peacock
Talon morph into the Phoenix Talon. Not too shabby for a day's work.
- The Phoenix Talon -
Lvl 10
This is the baddest weapon for Zhang He.......time to cleave a few new
holes into the enemies!
All attacks available.
+52 strength attribute
There you have it.......also I would like to tell everyone that I got
the information on how to get the final weapon from Muni Shinobu. So
in reality you should give him the thanks he deserves for finding this
out. Muni Shinobu........you rule.
5) Overall Stats
- Alright........here's the basic lowdown for Zhang He. The grading
scale's an old fashioned one.....1 lowest.....10 highest. I'll give
my personal perspective on each stat to let you know why it's rated
that.
Strength: 8
Defense: 7
Speed: 9
Technique: 9
Normal Attacks: 10
Charge Attacks: 7
Musou Attack: 7
Horseback Riding: 10
Dueling: 9
OVERALL RATING: 9
His Strength is one to be challenged, but he's no Lu Bu. You'll have no
probs warding off squads of enemies with him.
His Defense is nicely high. Unless you're fighting someone terribly
strong, then Zhang can take the hits for a good while.
His Speed is strong suit. He's noted as one of the fastest characters
in the game.
His Technique is great once you get used to all his attacks. Master his
attacks and you'll be a force to be reckoned with.
Normal Attacking is by far his forte. Slashing wide and all around
himself, it makes it hard for enemies to sneak up behind you.
Charge Attacking is great with him, but most take some time to master
properly. If you're patient then you'll get it in no time.
His Musou Attacking is most lethal when dealing with a group of enemies
rather than just a single enemy. With that said in order to damage a
single enemy with this move heavily will take some precise aiming on
your part.
His Horseback Riding skills are top notch in this game. All attacking
from the horse can easily deal with all foes that try to get in your
way.
When it comes to Dueling with him, as long as your not relying on your
Musou Attack, then you have a very tough competitor for duels.
- I'll bet you people are also wondering about his costumes too huh?
well I'll tell you what they are.
- 1st suit - Given
- 2nd suit - Same as first, but more white and lighter colors
- 3rd suit - Same colors as first, has small butterfly wings on his
back, and his ponytail is now in a small bun.
(Ya know, it's hard enough trying to get people to
realize that Zhang He is a serious character to fear, but
oh no......this butterfly suit of his just has to make
things worse for me. How hard do you think it'll be to
convince people now?)
- 4th suit - Same as 3rd, but with 2nd suit's colors
- 5th suit - The old school suit. His DW3 suit.
- 6th suit - Same as 5th, different color
There you have it........all you could possibly want to know about
Zhang He........
