2) Background

Brought to you by kongming.net this is the Comprehensive Officer Bio.
It is said that Zhang Liao was the descendant of Nie Yi of the Eastern Han Dynasty. To
avoid the envy and hatred of others however, the family name was changed to Zhang.
Zhang Liao started his career as an Aid to Ding Yuan. When Zhang Liao returned to the
Capital after recruiting soldiers for Commander-in-Chief He Jin, Wenyuan learned of his
assassination and allied himself with Dong Zhuo, the general who occupied the territory.
Zhang Liao was appointed as Cavalry Commander and helped Lu Bu after the death of
Dong Zhuo. When Li Jue and Guo Si attacked and defeated Lu Bu's forces, Wenyuan
fled with his Lord to Xu Zhou.
In the first year of Rebuilt Tranquility (AD 196), Zhang Liao took up the post of
Chancellor of Lu Kingdom at the age of twenty-eight. On Lu Bu's orders, Wenyuan
fought against Liu Bei, Lord Cao and Yuan Shu. His skill in battle caught the eye of
many, and after the death of Lu Bu, Zhang Liao accepted the post of Imperial Corps
Commander under Lord Cao, and received the title of Lord of the Second Rank. In
addition, Lord Cao also appointed him as Deputy General of the eastern forces.
When Lord Cao was attacking Zhang Lu in Han Zhong, Sun Quan took the opportunity
to invade He Fei. Zhang Liao defended so vigorously that the civilians and the people on
the Xiaoyao ferry-way were in awe of his strength.
For this, Lord Cao promoted Wenyuan to General Who Conquers the East. During the
reign of Cao Pi, Zhang Liao was elevated to the rank General of the Forward Army and
titled Lord of Jinyang.
Zhang Liao died of natural causes in the year AD 222 in Jiangdu County. Zhang Liao
was known as a brave and intelligent commander, his personal friends included Guan Yu,
Xu Huang and Lord Cao himself . His son Zhang Hu continued to serve Wei as an
officer. Cao Pi posthumously titled him Forthright Lord.

3) Stats Analysis
-This is a starting level Zhang Liao-

Life: It's average really.

Musou: Low, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Attack: Pretty good, but takes a hit in Def. for it.

Defense: Pretty low, but makes up for it with power.

Speed: Not very good, but can be helped with a good level Speed Scroll.

Reach: Very good, he has a pole arm weapon.

Mounted Attack: Standard right to left swinging.

Overall: I give him a B.

Crowd Clearing: Very good crowd clearer, IMO.

Dueling: Depends on how good you are with him I guess.

4) Charge Moves

Triangle - A quick dash while spinning the weapon, if T is pressed
again he swipe the weapon from right to left.


Square, Triangle - A bottom to top swipe that sends enemy flying in the
air.


Square, Square, Triangle -  A continuous side to side swipes that hit
enemies seven times(if T is pressed repeatedly).

Square, Square, Square, Triangle - A 360 degree all-around swipe that
clears all the enemies around Zhang Liao.

Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle - A bottom to top swipe that
sends the enemy flying high in
the air. If T is pressed again, Zhang Liao will jump up and knock the
enemy back down

Square, Square, Square, Square, Square, Triangle - A power wave
surrounds Zhang Liao and send all the enemies around Zhang Liao flying.


Musou: A continuous diagonal left-right attacks ending with one huge
side swipe that sends enemies flying.


True Musou: Same as normal, except ends with 2 quick side swipes and
another that sends them flying(making 3 side swipes)

Zhang Liao starts out selectable.

6) 10th Level Weapon Acquisition

Name: Gold Wyvern
Attack: +56
Stage: Zhang Liao's Legend
Requirements: Defeat Ling Tong and Xu Sheng. Defeat Gan Ning(appears
about 2 min. into stage). Defeat Lu Meng(appears about 2:40 into the
stage). Do this all in 4 min. 30 sec. Zhou Tai appears. Weapon aquired
message.

7) 11th Level Weapon Acquisition

Name: Celestial Wyvern
Attack: +60 (I believe)
Add-on Items: Lvl 17 Dragon Amulet, Lvl 11 Huang's Bow, Lvl 18 Horned
Helm, Lvl 20 Elixir
Stage: Zhang Liao's Legend
Requirements: When Zhou Tai appears, Yue Jin and all the castle door
captains are still alive.

Please look at another FAQ for a strategy. Sorry for the incovenience,
but I have put the requirements for you.

8) Costumes

1) A gray armor, with some dark, purple-red  colored cloth covered in
some places.  Also has a purple-red cape and white  fur on the hat.
2) A blue armor, with blue cloth covered in some places. Also has a
blue cape with purple fur on the hat.
3) Same as costume 1. Has no cape and a different hat with no fur.
4) Same as costume 2. Has no cape and a different hat with no fur.
5) Costume from DW3. Mostly blue and some part white cloth.  Has a
pirate hat on with no fur on it.
6) Alternate costume from DW3XL. Mostly
black and white cloth, and some part covered with gold color.  Also has
a pirate hat on.

9) Orbs Good for the Character

This is my opinion only. Feel free to use whatever you like.

Vorpal: Deals out more damage and possibly causes instant death.

Ice: Freezing enemies momentarily. This allows for more hits to be
gotten in.

10) Recommended Equipment

Saddle: Red Hare
Orb: Vorpal or Ice
Items: Tiger Amulet, Tortoise Amulet, Peacock Urn, Speed Scroll, Master
of Musou

I haven't tried all of the new items yet. SO this is subject to change.

11) Zhang Liao's Legend Stage

Map it's part of: He Fei
Victory- All officer, except Sun Quan, are defeated.
Defeat- He Fei Castle is taken.

Walkthrough:
Every 50 KOs raises your morale. So make sure you keep killing for that
reason, but you must also kill officer as well. And whenever Yue Jin is
in trouble, go and help him until he tells you to return to defending
the castle. Keep killing until you have defeated everyone. And whenever
Sun Quan makes an attack, Wu morale will increase.
