1) Version History

01/24/2004 - Started it today -

--------------
2) Background  Pang Tong (Shiyuan) Taken from www.kongming.net

Pang Tong was a Taoist like Zhuge Liang, and went by the nickname of Phoenix
Chick.Because of his hard work and dedication, Pang Tong earned himself a
position in the Office of Merit, in Xiang Yang city.

Pang Tong was well known among officials in Jing Zhou and the southlands.
He eventually offered his services to Sun Quan, but was not put in any
important position because of his ugly appearance.

After the battle of Chi Bi, when Liu Bei occupied the regions of southern Jing
Zhou, Zhuge Liang recommended Pang Tong’s service to Liu Bei. Shiyuan provided
Liu Bei with three possible solutions for his problems and offered to help
carry them out. Liu Xuande showed him much courtesy and appointed Pang Tong as
Deputy Master of the Forces and Imperial Corps Commander.

In the sixteenth year of Rebuilt Tranquillity (AD 211), Pang Tong led the
invasion of Yi Zhou as Master of Forces . During the battle of Luo Cheng,
Pang Tong was hit by an arrow and died. He was title Lord of the Second Rank
posthumously by Liu Shan.

In Game Bio -

An official under Liu Bei. A classmate of Zhuge Liang, he was oftern compared
to the sleeping dragon as an accomplished strategist. At the battle of Chi Bi
he helped carry out the linked ship plot, ensuring victory for the allied
forces. After joining Liu Bei, he suggested the capture of the Shu lands and
lead the campaign himself.

It is said had Pang Tong been alive after Liu Bei's capture of Shu, Shu would
of Won the 3 Kingdoms.

IMO he could of been greater than Zhuge Liang if he had lived longer.

He was assasinated while riding Liu Bei's horse, the Hex Mark.

AD 179 - 214 (35 Years)

-------------
3) Statistics
-This is a starting level (Fresh) Pang Tong

Life: Low, he is a strategist so its quite low.

Musou: Awesome, one of the highest in the game. His strongest asset.

Attack: Low because of being a strategist and not a warrior.

Defense: Good, mainly because of low attack

Speed: Quite good, probably because he's small.

Reach: Short, But some charge attacks have good reach. That said, get a wind
scroll as soon as possible.

Mounted Attack: Side to side attacks like most characters.

Overall: - Probably the most fun you'll have as a character on DW

Crowd Clearing: Some moves are awesome for it, some are pathetic for it.

Dueling: Combination of all the above stats and how good you are.

--------------
4) Moves -

Square button (s) - Hit square 6 times for a combo which hits mainly in front
of Pang Tong. It ends with a big flip attack.

Charge 1 - Triangle (t) - Press to release a bolt of energy. Adds an element
if you have an orb equipped.

Charge 2 - s,t - Basic uppercut into the sky. Allows for combo'ing.

Charge 3 - s,s,t - Pang Tong goes into flip mode, cartwheeling/flipping into
a enemy continuosly until knocking them away with a Ma Chao style spin round
his staff.

Charge 4  - s,s,s,t - First the 3 hits, then a hard to describe spinning mid
air twist which has a massive range and knocks enemies away. Works well with
lightning orb.

Charge 5 - s,s,s,s,t - This involves hitting the enemy 4 time and then
smashing them into the air, finally being kicked back down to earth by Pang
Tongs sandals.

Charge 6 - s,s,s,s,s,t - 5 hits and then something special. Pang Tong goes
musou and does his trademark whirlwind attack. High damage and knock back,
makes this the move to be using as much as possible.

Musou - Circle button when gauge is full - Pang Tong creates a tornado around
him and anihilates his enemies with it. Although it has been toned down since
DW3 it is still awesome. Use it all the time.

True Musou - Circle when gauge is full and health is red - Same as normal
musou really, maybe with a little more power and range.

Horse Attack - Usual smash right then left....yawn

Horse Charge - Levitates his staff right or left.

Air Strike - Just a bash from right to left in midair.

Air Charge - The usual jump up, slam weapon in ground attack.

Taunt - (R3 button) ........Gooood Grief

Analysis of Moves - For Pang Tong, its good to get right in the middle of the
action and then unleash c4, c6 or his musou. With generals stick with c3 or
musou.

--------------
5) Unlocking
Pang Tong starts out selectable on DW4 XL

ON DW4 you have to unlock him by clearing chapter 4 of Shu musou mode. (This
can be done with any character of Shu).

--------------------------
6) 10th Level Weapon Acquisition (Got to be on hard mode or higher)

DW4 Xtreme legends way of getting it:

Name: Tornado Staff
Attack: +51
Stage: Pang Tong's legend
Requirements: Get 100 KO's in under 3 minutes

Credit to Muni Shinobu

or the DW4 version of getting it is:

Method = Get the Pang Tong ambush scene. Run past the ambush. Continue running
and you'll get up to one of the gates of the top left castle. You'll get a
message saying the castle gates are not opening.  Defeat Liu Kuei or Zhang Yi.
Pang Tong will enrage Zhang Ren by saying something similar to "Hey isn't
anyone gonna challenge me?". You'll see Zhang Ren's attack message. Lead Zhang
Ren across the Jing Yen Bridge (the one near the castle). You'll see a "bomb
preparation complete" message. Stand near the bridge, and get the bridge's
destruction event. Zhang Ren starts to retreat message will show up.
Defeat Zhang Ren and Pang Tong earns Tornado Staff message

8) Costumes

1. The original costume - Big mexican style hat, green all over
2. Same clothes - different colours - Now a yellow approach
3. Colours same as first costume - Has turban and face visor thing
4. Colours same as second costume - Has turban and fave visor thing
5. Old school Pang Tong from DW3 - Dark Green robes with cool hat
6. DW3 XL costume - Same as fifth costume but with more white

-----------
9) Orbs and Pang Tong

This is my opinion on orbs. Some may work better for you.

In my personal favourite order

1. Lightning - Awesome crowd cleaning abilities
2. Vorpal - Still good
3. Fire - More damage is always good
4. Ice - Pang Tong is fast so he doesnt need this as much as characters like
Xu Zhu and Zhang Fei.
5. Poison - Lame
6. Blast - Don't use it ever

-----------
10) Recommended Equipment

Saddle: Use any horse saddle but dont use elephants as they are too slow.
Shadow is probably best. I like using Hex Mark because Pang Tong died on Hex
Mark according to ROTK

Orb: Lightning

Items: He has the full 6 slots so use it too your advantage. Heres a list of
the best ones:

Tiger Amulet - Strength is king
Tortoise Amulet - Defence is very important too
Peacock Urn - Do you really want to die that fast?
Speed Scroll - Speed increases the speed of killing things
Wind Scroll - Increases range and therefore more dead people.
Secret of Orbs - More elemental is good
War Drum - Morale is important in long battles so use this.
Power Rune - The best defence is to go on the offensive.
Herbal Remedy - Charge Attacks are good
Elixer - Musou is good

------------
11) Pang Tong's legend

This is a extra stage at the Wu Zhang plains.

Under Construction
------------
12) His hilarious voice (quotes)

1000 kills: The Three Kingdoms have nothing on me!
Death: So this is it, huh...
Duel Accept: I don't know... You look pretty strong...
Duel Challenge: Hey, how about a little tussle?
Lose in Duel: I thought I did pretty well, for me!
Musou: Careful...
Retreat: Phew! I better get outta here!
Taunt: Good grief!
True Musou: EeeeeeYAH!

Destroy Bridge (Battle of Luo Castle): Well, Zhang Ren has
nowhere to run now...
Encounter Huang Zhong (Mt. Ding Jun): You wanna borrow my cane,
old timer?
Bridge Event (Chang Ban): You'll have to pay to get through here.
And it's not cheap, let me tell you.

There are others but these are the important ones

He also says the legendary "Gooooood for youuuuuu" when he's congratulating
you on killing a certain number of enemies.
