Yue Ying was born of the Huang family, daughter of Huang Chenyan. Huang Chenyan
was known before for helping Lu Xun of Wu find his way out of Zhuge Liang’s
Eightfold Maze. She was not particularly attractive, and many called her
unattractive. She was extremely talented in all the academic arts, however, and
she studied all kinds of books, from military strategy to magic and astronomy.
Because of her ‘unattractive’ looks, Yue Ying devised a plan to find a husband.
She first spread rumours of her looks, making her seem less than flattering, to
say the least. Only one man saw through her ploy – Zhuge Liang. He saw her for
her talents and battlefield abilities, which is exactly what Yue Ying wanted.
She soon entered the service of Shu, inventing for them a fire breathing device
– the juggernaut.
Yue Ying outlived her husband for only a short time, with her last words being
to her son: “Be loyal and filial”.

Yue Ying’s Pros and Cons

Yue Ying was my favourite character from Shu, as she’s good at destroying
infantry.

S = Square
T = Triangle
(X) = repeatable by pressing T more times
J = Jump
S – Horizontal right slash
SS – Above + horizontal left slash
SSS – Above + vertical downward slash
SSSS – Above + Diagonal down/right slash
SSSSS – Above + Diagonal down/left slash
SSSSSS – Above + 360º spin slash
T – Yue Ying throws her halberd forwards like a boomerang, and then it spins
upwards and back to you. You are able to rotate during this time. Excellent
move for killing archers.
ST – S + Yue Ying faces backwards and rams the end of her halberd into the
opponent. They are then juggled a small way into the air.
SST – SS + Yue Ying thrusts her spear into the opponent, spins the blade, and
slices it right.
SSST – SSS + a full 180º left slash.
SSSST – SSSS + a diagonal up/right slash, juggling opponents in the air. More
effective than ST.
SSSSST – SSSSS + a full 720º swing with the halberd. Nice.
JS – Yue Ying spins herself in the air, for a 270º spin. Weak.
JT – Yue Ying frontflips in the air and sticks the top of her halberd (not the
blade itself, though) into the ground. Good for attacking crowds, but officers
will murder you when you use this.
Running Attack – Yue Ying runs forward, and forces her blade up/right. Good
range.
Musou – Yue Ying lifts her blade into the air and spins it in a clockwise
direction, moving a short distance every 360º spin. She then pushes herself
into the air for the last spin. Would be better if you could move more.
True Musou – Musou plus an extra 360º spin before the lift. Also has a fire
element.
Horse S (SSSSS) + (T) – Swings to the left and right, with two at the end for a
T combo. Weak.
Horse Musou – Stronger slashes, and the horse stops when you’re done. Never
ever waste Musou like this. Ever.
Elephant Attacks – The same as always. Trunk swings, stomps (my favourite!),
and a combo if you use Musou. Please never ever waste Musou like this either.

In Dynasty Warriors 4 Empires, the weapon system works on a different basis,
something to do with the levels. If anyone has any details on how it works,
please tell me.

Goals for Leveling

Each character has 4 goals for leveling up. Once you achieve 1, your level
rises by one, and your stats and troop capabilities go up.
Yue Ying’s goals are: 15000 pts

Maximizing Effectiveness
-------------------------
Harness: Red Hare. Yue Ying can ride behind the enemy lines and wipe out huge
crowds, then go backwards. That’s my strategy.
Orb: Vorpal. Yue Ying now becomes deadly to Officers, plus has the ability to
instantly kill anyone below and including the rank of Lt. General.
Slot 1: Way of Musou. Extra killing power. Always have this one. Always.
Alwaysalways. Always.
Slot 2: Yue Ying needs extra life or attack, as she only has three slots, so
you can pick between either Tiger Amulet or Peacock Urn – but if your Peacock
Urn is a low level, use Tortoise Amulet instead.
Slot 3: Wind Scroll. Makes Yue Ying fun at killing gigantic crowds.
