Introduction: Dragonball Z: Budokai is one of my
favourite games on the Playstation 2. I have already
written a FAQ about Cell and now since it is half term, I
have decided to write another FAQ. This time, it is for
the secret mode, Legend of Mr. Satan mode, which for the
American version is called the Legend of Hercule mode.
The mode is pretty difficult at times; therefore I
thought to write a FAQ based on it.

FAQ and I expect it to be appreciated. This piece of my
work, along with the other FAQs I have had published

Section 2) Overview
DRAGONDRAGONDRAGONDRAGONDRAGON
You could classify Budokai as two games in one, as when
you select Legend of Mr. Satan mode, it takes you to
another title screen. Anyway, for those who do not know
or are just interested, the mode is basically a story set
in the Cell games. Mr. Satan (Or Hercule as he is called
in the United States) is the only playable character in
this mode, and you must use HIS moves, no custom ones.
The moves which you are given are:
High Tension - PKG
Present For You - KK->K->KE
Dynamite Kick - PPPPE
Dynamite Kick - ->PPPPE
Dynamite Kick - ->PPPKE
Punch - P
Kick - K
Block - G
Gather Ki - <-G
Satan Special - ->KPPPE
Satan Critical Attack - P->PPE
Satan Miracle Bomber - P+G
Satan Ultra Dynamite - ->KKKE
In this mode, you have to defeat a large number of Z
Fighters in certain circumstances. Some maybe defeated
normally, some with a strict time limit, one directly
after another and even an army of Cell JR. You have to
defeat ALL of the fights without dying once. The list of

Section 3) How to Unlock
DRAGONDRAGONDRAGONDRAGONDRAGON
a) To Unlock Hercule/Mr. Satan you must have come first
place in the World Tournament mode with ANY
character. Then after winning and collecting your
prize money you must go to the Edit Skills option on
the game select, it is the one with Mr. Popo on. Go
to Skill Shop and buy the Recommended Capsule (the
bottom one) off Mr. Popo. Now select World
Tournament mode once more and do the Adept mode,
again with any character. Win this mode and return
to Mr. Popo's shop and look at the recommended
capsule again, buy it and you will now have
Hercule/Mr. Satan.
b) To unlock Legend of Hercule/Mr. Satan mode you MUST
have unlocked Hercule and all the other characters
like Android 16, Cell and Trunks, well all of them
except The Great Sayaiman and do Adept mode in the
World Tournament again. Now get your prize money and
go to Mr. Popo's shop and buy the recommended
capsule, you will now have this special mode which
is accessible from the menu screen, it is the
seventh star Dragonball and has a rather funny
picture of the man himself.

Section 4) Walkthrough

Battle I: Yamcha
Time Limit: 100 Seconds
Hercules Description: None
Objectives: None
Difficulty 1/10
Strategy: This is the easiest fight in the mode, and not
because it is Yamcha. I have almost got a perfect ranking
on this mode. As soon as the battle starts, start by
punching him, show no mercy and keep hammering the P
button, activating Dynamite Kick once in awhile. If you
want a nice 8000 points or so, keep punching him until
your Ki is above three and activate Present For You, then
finish him off with physical attacks.
Battle II: Tien and Krillin
Time Limit: 200 Seconds
Hercules Description: Hmph! He was weaker than I thought.
Hey, you baldies over there! I'll fight both of you at
once!
Wow... he has three eyes! I wonder what his glasses look
like?
Objectives: Fight both Tien and Krillin, or your Health
won't recover!
Difficulty: 3/10
Strategy: Not exactly difficult, but you have to fight
both of them one after another, without gaining any
health. Sounds harsh but it is easier done than said. You
can easily take Tien out like you did with Yamcha, with
punches and kicks, use Present for You for a quick kill.
Also when you battle Krillin, make sure your health is
high, try not to let it fall down to the yellow bar when
facing Tien and keep calm, it is easy using physical
attacks but use Present For You when desperate.
Battle III: Tien and Krillin
Time Limit: 200 Seconds
Hercules Description: too weak! I bet you're weak too. My
level of health is good enough to take on the likes of
you. C'mon! Uh, actually, I'm felling kinda tired. I
shouldn't have said that I'd fight them both at the same
time!
Objectives: Fight Krillin without recovering Health! Can
your body take it?
Difficulty: 3/10
Strategy: Not exactly difficult, but you have to fight
both of them one after another, without gaining any
health. Sounds harsh but it is easier done than said. You
can easily take Tien out like you did with Yamcha, with
punches and kicks, use Present for You for a quick kill.
Also when you battle Krillin, make sure your health is

Battle IV: Android #16
Time Limit: 100 Seconds
Hercule's Description: Hey, YOU! Wearing armour is
cheating! But it won't work against me, anyway! Ha ha ha
ha Whoa! That's a hard armour... Cheater!
Objectives: You can't hurt Android 16 easily! Don't give
it a chance to attack!
Difficulty: 2/10
Strategy: The game's description of the android is not
exactly true; you can deal as much damage to him as you
would Krillin, Yamcha or Tien. You can get by just by
hitting him, but Miracle Satan Bomber is a good move when
stuck.
Battle V: Trunks
Time Limit: 100 Seconds
Hercule's Description: Whew! You're next. Huh? I'll cut
you some slack since you're just a kid! C'mon! OUCH! Oh
no! That hunka junk hurt my arms and legs!
Objectives: Your hands and legs are injured! Use your Ki
to attack!
Difficulty: 6/10
Strategy: Hercule's legs and arms are not exactly broken.
However, this battle is a little hard, Trunks has a nasty
habit of blocking most of your attacks AND attacking, he
is fast so what I tend to do is attack him or counter his
attacks. Present For You really helps.
Battle VI: Vegeta
Time Limit: 60 Seconds
Hercule's Description: What are you looking at?! Your
hair style sucks (Ouch!)! What were you thinking?! Gulp!
Ooog. I was bluffing and now my stomach hurts. But I've
gotta soldier on!!
Objectives: Defeat Vegeta within the time limit to make
it to the bathroom!
Difficulty: 9/10
Strategy: THIS IS HARD! Not only is Vegeta fast and
powerful, you can hardly afford to waste time, keep
hitting him. You will not win this battle in time by just
kicking and punching, build your ki up to three and
unleash Present For You, do it twice if you have to! Use
moves which can be done when the time limit stops. Also,
try to avoid Vegeta's attacks as he likes to use Final
Bash. I have only managed to defeat Vegeta once without
using Present For You and I had ten seconds remaining, it
was still tough.
Battle VII: Piccolo
Time Limit: 100 Seconds
Hercule's Description: You look pale. Are you okay? But
I'm not cutting any slack! Icy isn't easy to become
champion! Ha. You look just like Evil King Piccolo! Uh
ok! I'm in BIG TROUBLE!
Objectives: Piccolo the Evil King?! Fight even though
it's tough to gather Ki.
Difficulty: 8/10
Strategy: This is nothing compared to the next battle but
it is still difficult. Piccolo is just like Vegeta, only
you have much more time to defeat him, and he starts off
in his second form. Don't be put off; you can defeat him
with normal attacks and Dynamite kick without using
Present For You.
Battle VIII: Cell Jr. X5
Time: Infinite
Hercule's Description: II got rid of them... what's this?
Who are you?! So you gotta gang up on me now, huh? Bring
it on! These guys are monsters! I didn't hurt them at
all!
Objectives: Five Cell Jrs. Appeared! Focus yourself and
take them out!
Difficulty: 10/10
Strategy: This has to be the hardest fight in this game.
Defeating them with Gohan was easy enough, you could
retry and you had moves such as kamehameha, however
Hercule has no Ki moves. Do what the description says
though, when you have a spare minute, focus using LEFT or
Right and the Guard button. Do not take these guys for
granted, Gohan is small and could hit them easily, but
Hercule is tall and the Cell Jrs are far too small for
you to use most moves with. Try not to get attack and use
moves like Satan Miracle Bomber and Present For You! By
the way, did anyone else like the Cell Jr's character
face? Kill the bastards!
Battle IX: Goku
Time: 100 Seconds
Hercule's Description: Ya, all right, lemme try
something. Yer outta' yer league! Hey! Blond dude! I'll
deal with YOU! Ohhh, I'm a goner, he...he might be just a
bit too powerful...
Objectives: Defeat Goku and Gohan using the same health!
Difficulty: 9/10
Strategy: The battle is easier than the Cell JR one, Goku
is just what you expected from Piccolo and Vegeta, only a
bit harder and you have to keep some health for Gohan. I
suggest using Miracle Bomber from the start, followed by
Present For You, you must dispatch of him quickly.
Battle IX: Gohan
Time: 100 Seconds
Hercule's Description: You're just a kid! Go and do your
homework, okay? What?! Respect your elders!! Huh? Well,
this looks like that blond freak I just fought. Ohh, I'm
too young to die...
Objectives: Defeat Goku and Gohan using the same health!
Difficulty: 9/10
Strategy: The battle is easier than the Cell JR one, Goku
is just what you expected from Piccolo and Vegeta, only a
bit harder and you have to keep some health for Gohan. I
suggest using Miracle Bomber from the start, followed by
Present For You, you must dispatch of him quickly.
Battle XI: Cell
Time: 100 Seconds
Hercule's Description: Did I keep you waiting Cell? Well
the laughter stops right here! I'll wipe he floor with
you and protect the whole world! So let's rumble!
Objectives: Defeat Cell
Difficulty: 10/10
Strategy: Remember how tough Cell was in story mode with
Gohan? That was hard but this is even harder. Cell had a
hard time whacking Gohan, but he will be hitting
Hercule/Satan much easier. Keep the fight going from the
direct start by using Present For you, then gather Ki and
use it again. You will have to dodge and block many of
Cell's attacks.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q) How do I unlock this mode?
A) You need to have all of the characters with the
exception of The Great Sayaiman, get these extra
characters by playing through the story. Now beat Adept
Mode in World Tournament and visit Mr. Popo's shop and
buy the recommended capsule.
Q) How do I unlock Hercule/Mr. Satan?
A) Beat Adept mode with any character and visit Mr.
Popo's shop and buy the recommended capsule.
Q) Your strategy sucks.
A) I wrote this voluntarily, I use the best strategies I
think are suitable. If you have one yourself, please
contact me.
Q) Nice FAQ, can I help out?
A) Sure, send me a question or a suggestion and I'll add

Q) Can you use a custom Hercule/Mr. Satan?
A) No
Q) Can you save halfway through?
A) No
Q) What is the difference between Novice, Adept and
Advanced?
A) Nothing much except for difficulty, novice is easy,
adept is medium and Advance is well... hard.
Q) Krillin/Cell Jr are too hard to hit!
A) Not exactly a question ;) but I think you should try
throws and such moves. If you have too much trouble, go
to Practice Mode and fight Kid Gohan for awhile. It is
also good if you catapult them in to the air.
Q) Why haven't you put the Playstation 2 controller
buttons in to your commands and just put P,G,K and E?
A) You see, there is going to be a XBOX and Gamecube
version, and chances are that Gamefaqs will put this FAQ
up for them versions too...
Q) Who is Mr. Satan/Hercule?
A) I know what you mean, you know who one is. Well it is
the same person. In Japan, he is called Mr. Satan and in
America and Europe, Hercule. However, for the videogames
he is known as Mr. Satan in Europe and since Gamefaqs get
both European and American users, I think I should put in
both to save confusion, although I have started even
more. Toonami thought that Mr. Satan was too offensive
for America and Europe due to religious reasons... They
didn't want Christianity involved so they sort of
switched to Greek... Hercule(s).
Q) Can you access 'Another Area' on this mode?
A) Yes. Continue to kick the opponent out of the area.
Q) Hey man, I sent you descriptions but you havn't
included me!
A) I am really sorry about this, about three people e
mailed me on the old computer which blew up, and several
sent me to my new one afterwards. If you notice this send
me a mail and I will add you. Sorry!
Q) Is Budokai coming on the Gamecube/Xbox (Daniel Bracey)
A) Versions for both formats are planned.
Q) ITS HERCULE/SATAN NOT HERCULE/SATAN! (Numerous people)
A) Calm down, I blame Funimation. And the creators for
not putting Supreme Kai or Vegeta's badman shirt in the
game.
