Know your dashes:

FF = Forward Dash
BB = Backwards Dash

Dashing in the game will allow you to reach your foe in combat from far away
in a matter of seconds. This move works well after you've performed a strong
grapple that has tossed your foe across the stage, and you wish to reach them
before or by the time they get back up, and to finish them off. Dashing also
increases the strength of any attacks that you perform while dashing.

Guarding:

B or B + F = High/Middle Guard
D or D + F = Low guard

Guarding is one of the most important aspects of DoA2, and will be needed
in almost every fight you are engaged in. Guarding does not block all moves,
but guarding will drastically decrease damage from all incoming attacks, as
well as avoid some or most grapples.

Evade-Throw:

F + P (when attacked) = Evade-Throw

Evade-Throws (when timed correctly), will turn your foe's attack into a counter-
move, and will allow your fighter to perform a throw, therefore reversing
the main attack from your foe. If timed well, an evade-throw can reverse
your foe's attack, and will turn it around on him/her, then deal out a good
amount of damage to them.

Throws/Grapples:

F + P (while attacking) = Throw/Grapple
D + F + P = Low throw/grapple

Throws/grapples are very useful in DoA2, especially when you are very close
to your opponent, and want to deal out some good damage, without wasting
any time or energy. Different fighters have different throws, and each
throw/grapple is different depending on what direction you press while performing
the main grapple command (F+P). Experiment to find out what's best for you
in different situations.

Getting up:

There are several different ways to get up from the ground in DoA2:

- P (multiple times) = Get up in the position you are in.
- U + F (multiple times) = Roll backwards before getting up.
- D + F (multiple times) = Roll forwards before getting up.
- D + K (mutliple times) = Perform a low-kick while you are getting up.
- K (multiple times) = Perform a middle-kick while you are getting up.

Since the Dead or Alive 2 Hardcore game comes with a Complete Movelist in it's
instruction manual, it would be utterly pointless (not to mention tedious)
for me to list the same movelist, so instead, I have listed two main strategies
for each character: Playing as that character, and playing against that
character.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kasumi
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: Japan
Fighting Style: Ninjutsu
Age: N/A
Stats: 5'2" 106 pounds
      B35" W21" H33"
Occupation: Ninja

Playing As: Kasumi's fighting style consists of mainly leg-attacks and kicks,
so be sure to use that to your advantage. Her Goukyaku attack
(K, K, K) is very easy to perform, and it also does an easy 3-Hit
           combo. Her Kegon throw/grapple also works wonders (R, F + P).
Also give her Oboro (DF, DF, F + P) throw a shot, too.

Playing Against: It's a good idea to attack Kasumi from afar, because she
has plenty of close and easy to perform throws/grapple moves,
and her attacks are mainly kicks and leg attacks. If she
comes at you with a kick of some sort, then immediately
counter her kick or attack before it connects, but since
she's relatively fast, this can be difficult.

Mini-Move List:

Tenshu - UF, K
Hiru - U, K
Getsirom - UB, K
Hiten - L, P
Futen - U, P
Rengou - P, P, K, K, K
Renjin - P, P, K, DF, K
Renji - P, P, K, D, K
Osen - P, P, P, P
Gessai - P, P, UB, K
Rishu - P, P, R, P, K, K
Kyoshu - P, P, R, R, K, D, K

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Gen-Fu
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: China
Fighting Style: Xinyi Liuhe Quan
Age: 65
Stats: 5'7" 172 pounds
      B38" W40" H39"
Occupation: Bookstore Owner

Playing As: Gen-Fu has that "old-school" type of fighting that can be hard
to judge and to see what attacks are coming. Gen-Fu is a balanced
fighter, in that he uses both punch and kick attacks equally.
If you are looking for some easy combos, his Soha (RR, P + K)
attack allows you to perform an easy 3-hit combo, while also
knocking your opponent across the stage, or through somekind of
           multi-level stage. Another easy 3-hit combo is P, K, K.
If you are close to your opponent, the Shutai (R, F + P) throw
is a good move to perform. Get in close to your opponents, because
           Gen-Fu's reach isn't so great.

Playing Against: When fighting Gen-Fu, don't get too close to him, because
his reach isn't all that good, so getting semi-far away
from him while attacking is a good idea to avoid any counters.
Try not to get too close, either, because he has tons of
good throws which he can use to his disposal.

Mini-Move List:

Tosho - U, P
Rensui - P, P, P
Tanhou - DF, P, P
Kahou - UF, P
Banchu - R, P, P, P
Osokuha - L, P, P, P + K
Sosuiha - L, P, R, P * P + K
Tonyo - DF, P
Tanpa - R, R, P
Koson - DF, DF, P
Keitai - RR, K, K
Chisun - DB, K, R, P

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Tina
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: U.S.A.
Fighting Style: Pro Wrestling
Age: 22
Stats: 5'9" 115 pounds
      B37" W24" H35"
Occupation: Pro-Wrestler

Playing As: Tina has more throws and grapple moves than your average fighter,
because she is a professional wrestler, so throws and grapples
are her mainstay. Try to get as close to your opponent as you
can, so you can perform some damaging throws. Tina also uses more
punching attacks than kicks, so if you can't get off a good
throw, like the Frankensteiner (L, F + P), perform some type of
punching attack like the Infinity Combo (R, P, P, P).

Playing Against: Always try to stay as far away from Tina as possible, because
                she's basically deadly at close-range. She's a wrestler, which
means she'll usually try to perform throws and grapples during
the fight. Attack from afar with kicks to keep her at bay, and
if you happen to get up close, be sure to counter or guard
if she goes in for a throw or grapple.

Mini-Move List:

Jab High Kick - P, K
Machine Gun Middle - P, P, K
Knuckle Arrow - UB, P
Blazing Chop - U, P
Back Elbow Knee - UF, P, K
Tina Special - R, R, P + K
Ankle Spin Kick - K, K
Drop Kick - U, K
Double Ai Kick - DD, K, K, K
Rolling Sobat - L, K
Infinity Combo - R, P, P, P
Dolphin Upper - DF, DF, P

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Zack
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: U.S.A.
Fighting Style: Thai-Style Boxing
Age: 25
Stats: 5'11" 172 pounds
      B42" W33" H37"
Occupation: DJ

Playing As: Since Zack is a Thai-Style Boxer, he uses mainly leg and kicking
attacks and combos, so try to get to a medium-distance away from
your opponent to maximize the effectiveness of your attacks. A
           very good attack is the Inferno Rush (R, P, K, K, K, K) attack.
If you happen to get up close to an opponent, perform a decent
           throw, like the Stunner (L, F + P).

Playing Against: Zack can do some serious damage to you if he gets medium to
close to you, because he uses his legs in most of his attacks.
This gives Zack pretty good range while fighting, so he's
more versitile than most fighters. Try to stay as close to
him as you can, and perform as many kicking attacks and
grapples to keep him either very close to you or to keep
                him on the ground.

Mini-Move List:

Hell Needle - U, P
Tee Sork Bon - DB, P
Rising Heel Kick - U, K
Double Impact - QCF, P, P
Double Sork - R, P, P
Tea Sork Laan - R, R, P
Half Spin Heal Kick - L, K, K
Heat Sunrise - UB, K
Sway Blow - UB, P
Mobius Rush - P, P, P, K
Boost Rush - P, K, K, K, K
Slam Knuckle - L, P

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jann-Lee
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: China
Fighting Style: Jeet Kune Do
Age: 20
Stats: 5'8" 165 pounds
      B39" W31" H36"
Occupation: Bouncer

Playing As: Jann-Lee is the Bruce Lee of DoA2. He's a fast, agile, well-
balanced fighter who can kick some serious ass, all while performing
some sweet moves. Since he's fast and well-balanced (he's effective
with both punching and kicking attacks, as well as with throws),
you can basically attack from any position and still connect with
some decent damage. His Dragon Rush (P, P, P, K) and Dragon Cannon
(P, P, P, R, P) attacks are very effective against most or all
fighters, and his The Way of the Dragon (QCB, F + P) throw will
teach any fighter a lesson in humility.

Playing Against: Jann-Lee is a tough character to fight against, since he's
well-balanced and fast, with tons of great moves. You'll
have to use a faster character against him, and one with
plenty of Holds and counter-moves to counter his many
attacks (Lei-Fang is a good fighter with these talents).
If he gets too close, be sure to counter any throws, and
if he gets too far away, watch out for his rush-attacks.

Mini-Move List:

Knuckle Upper - UF, P
Back Hook - U, P
Read High Kick - U, K
Nikikyaku - UF, K, K
Sekkan Chop - L, P
Sway Jab - UB, P
Jab High Kick - P, K
Dragon Slicer - P, P, P, D, K
Dragon Rush - P, P, P, K
Body Upper - R, P, P
Combo High Kick - P, P, K
Snap Spin Kick - R, K, K

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ayane
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: Japan
Fighting Style: Ninjutsu
Age: N/A
Stats: 5'2" 104 pounds
      B37" W21" H33"
Occupation: Ninja

Playing As: Ayane is basically Kasumi, only with different moves. Her style is
basically the same as Kasumi, and she's fast and agile, just like
Kasumi. She also uses many kicking attacks, but has her share of
punching attacks as well. Her Koei (P, P, R, P, P) attack and
           her Hajin (P + K, P, D, K) attack work well all-around, and her
H.Embu throw (R, F + P) is also a good choice when you are up
           close to an opponent.

Playing Against: Ayane is a ninja, so therefore she is a fast fighter. Her
kicking attacks can damage you from afar, so you'd have
a better chance of surviving against her if you stay close
and perform more throws than normal attacks. Try to avoid
any of her kicks, and always counter these attacks for the
                best results.

Mini-Move List:

Sosho - P, P, P
Renten - P, P, K, K, K
Koei - P, P, R, P, P
Hajin - P, K
Koeiga - R, P, P
Soha - R, R, P, R, K
Rijin - L, P, K
Riji - L, P, D, K
Soten - U, K
Ryuso - R, K, K
Retten - F + K
Sho - L, F + K

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hayabusa
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: Japan
Fighting Style: Ninjutsu
Age: 23
Stats: 5'10" 154 pounds
      B41" W33" H36"
Occupation: Curio Shop Owner

Playing As: Hayabusa is the original ninja warrior, and his fighting style
proves just this. He's remenicent of Jann-Lee, in that he's
a very well-balanced fighter (he has speed, strength, and plenty
of moves at his disposal). Hayabusa's own style leans more towards
kicking attacks, and tons of rolling/jumping attacks, so use
this towards your advantage. Try to stay semi-close to your
opponent, that way you can perform both normal attacks, as well
as throws. His F.Sosho attack (UF, P, P, P) can do some good
damage to anyone, and so does his Kirimadoi throw (B, F + P).

Playing Against: Like I said before, Hayabusa is a fast and agile fighter, just
like Jann-Lee, but this isn't so good if you are fighting
against him. For best results, try to stay far away from
him, only coming close enough to do a quick combo or throw,
then getting away from him before he can do his own fast
                combo.

Mini-Move List:

Rengeki - P, P, P
Mekki - P, P, L, P, K
Renki - P, P, K, K, K
Jinpuren - P, P, D, K
Hatou - P, K, K
Hatotsu - R, P, K, K
Tentptsu - U, P
Hayou -  L, P, K
Eiuchi - UB, P
Jaki - K, P
Dansya - K, K
Tenrin - UB, K

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Helena
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: France
Fighting Style: Pi Qua Quan
Age: 21
Stats: 5'7" 108 pounds
      B35" W22" H34"
Occupation: Opera Singer

Playing As: Helena isn't a fast fighter, but she isn't slow either. This
makes it tough to use her well in a fight, but she does have
some redeeming qualities. For one, her throws and grapples
are pretty strong and work well. Her Tosenka throw (QCB, F + P)
is really useful in putting your opponent in his/her place, and
to get on them on the ground for some ground attacks.

Playing Against: Helena isn't hard to fight against, since she'll take quite
a few hits before actually responding with attacks of her
own. She's not that fast, so keep this in mind when going
in for combos. Punching attacks aren't her forte, so it's
okay to get in close for your own attacks and throws. Try
to get in a combo or two before she attacks, then just
                counter those attacks with ease.

Mini-Move List:

Kasui - R, R, P
R. Kasui - P, P, P
R. Kosen - P, P, K
R. Sen - P, P, D, K
Gasho - P, K, K, K
Kyuho - UB, P
Rekkai - K, K, K
S. Kasen - R, K, D, K
Rigo - B, K, K
Myoshu - U, K
Bokuho - DD, F + K
Niki - UF, K

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bass
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: U.S.A.
Fighting Style: Pro-Wrestling
Age: 46
Stats: 6'5" 346 pounds
      B56" W53" H54"
Occupation: Pro-Wrestler

Playing As: Bass is the father of Tina, and it shows. They're both professional
wrestlers, and they are both deadly up-close in a fight. Since
Bass is a wrestler, throws and grapple moves are his forte, so
it's best to get in close in battle, then take care of your opponent
with some throws. Bass is also great with punching attacks, so
if you can't get off a grapple or throw, then just perform a
punching attack, like Combo Hammer (P, P, D, P). Some throws
that work well are the Bass Tornado (R, F + P), and the Water Mill
           Drop (L, F + P).

Playing Against: Just as I've said earlier, Bass is a wrestler, and he uses
mostly throws and grapple moves during fights. This basically
kills any chances you've had at up-close brawling with Bass,
so use someone with range and a variety of kicking moves
(Zack is a good choice, as is Jann-Lee). Be ready for his
throws with some counters and holds yourself.

Mini-Move List:

Combo Gang -  P, P, P
Combo Hammer - P, P, D, P
Combo High Kick - P, P, K
Combo Kick Crash - P, K, K
Wild Swing - R, P, P
Hell Stab - P + K
Knee Hammer - R, K, P
Jumping High Kick - U, K
Smash Gong - R, R, P
One Hand Hammer - U, P
Kenka Kick - R, R, K
Front Roll Kick - R, F + K
Leg Break - DB, K

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Leon
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: Italy
Fighting Style: Russian Martial Arts
Age: 42
Stats: 6'4" 282 pounds
      B53" W47" H48"
Occupation: Mercenary

Playing As: Leon is mainly a strength fighter, and not a speedy one. Leon has
many punching attacks, all of which are potent at close-range.
He does have some kicking attacks, but they're only good at close-
range, too. Leon's grapples all focus on some kind of submission
move or torture method, so staying up close to your opponent is
a smart strategy. Use his Solid Crush attack (R, P, P, P) for
an easy 2-hit combo that will also knock your opponent down to
           the ground.

Playing Against: Since Leon uses a lot of throws and punching attacks, he's
dangerous at close-range, just like Bass or Tina. He doesn't
use as many throws and grapples as he does punching attacks,
but that doesn't mean they're any less effective. Keep your
distance from Leon during battle, and keep him at bay with
                plenty of kicking attacks.

Mini-Move List:

Palm Arrow - UB, P
Tomahawk Elbow - UF, P
Smash Upper - U, P, P
Rising Tomahawk - UF, K
Jabbering Kick - U, K
Body Sobat - F + K
Blust Trass - L, P, K
Knee Lift - R, K
Smash - DF, P
Heel Hammer - L, K
Solid Crush - R, P, P, P
Stomach Break - R, P, K

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lei-Fang
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From: China
Fighting Style: T'ai Chi Quan
Age: 19
Stats: 5'4" 110 pounds
      B34" W22" H34"
Occupation: College Student

Playing As: Lei-Fang's style of fighting is unique, in that she focuses mainly
on kicking, and less focus on punching and strong throws and grapples.
When she punches, she usually uses the palms of her fists or her
elbows, so that makes her punches weaker than normal. However, her
legs are long and can reach out quite a distance, so a majority
of attacks should be kicking attacks. Her throws are just that,
throws, and they are all pretty weak. Lei-Fang's Tanben (P, K, K,
D, K) kicking combo works very well, as does her Yoho throw
           (R, R, F + P).

Playing Against: Lei-Fang is a tough opponent in DoA2, since she has a longer
reach than most of the fighters in the game, thanks to her
kicking-style of fighting and her long legs. If you get close
enough to her for her to do some leg-attacks, then quickly
counter them, then get in very close to perform a throw or
                grapple.

Mini-Move List:

Senpu - F + K
Shu/Sen - K, D, K
Hikyaku - U, K
R. Shao - P, P, P
R. Kin - P, P, R, P, P
Zensyo - UF, P
Shahi - U, P
Niki - UF, K, K
Soan - R, R, P
Tessa - D, D, K
Hoto - L, P, P
Sokutan - R, K

Playing As: Ein is another well-balanced fighter, but he lacks the variety that
other fighters, like Jann-Lee, have. Ein's moves consist mainly
of kicks, but he does have his share of punching attacks, too.
For an easy and fast victory, tap the punch button once to stun
           your opponent, then tap P, P, P, P, K to perform an easy 5-hit
combo, and to knock off quite a bit of health off your opponent's
life bar. His counter moves work very well and are accurate, so
keep this in mind when fighting faster opponents.

Playing Against: Ein is a rather easy opponent, if you know how to face the
guy properly. First off, he uses lots of kicking attacks, so
be sure to either stay far off from him to avoid them, or
to get in very close to "stuff" him in and to lower the
chance of him kicking you. Secondly, Ein uses lots of
counter-moves and holds, so when attacking him, be fast and
accurate. His combos come fast and hard, so be ready with
a counter or hold yourself, and keep him at bay with kicking
attacks of your own. If you get up close to Ein, perform
some strong grapples and throws for good measure.

Extra "Bounciness" for female fighters: Go into the Options screen, then into
the Game Settings screen, then enter
the "Others" section, and adjust your
fighter's age. The higher the age of
your fighter, the more "bouncy" your
                                       fighter's breasts will become. (Note:
This does NOT work for male fighers.
