This is a quick guide to the endings of Disgaea for people looking to see all
of them. This guide contains no plot spoilers, only information on game
mechanics and instructions on how to see each of the multiple endings. There may
be errors within--please let me know if you notice any, particularly if I've
missed an ending somehow(!), or if there's anything else you think should be
included here!
There are eight endings total, half of which are reached by clearing the
standard "Last Episode" of the game. Half of the endings are controlled by ally
murders--namely, the number of times you have killed one of your allies with
another party member.
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Good Ending
Clear the last stage with no ally murders during the game. Congrats, you get
great plot bits and the Cutest Picture Ever during the credits!
In terms of requirements, it's probably easiest to aim to get this ending
from the beginning of the game, leave a save just before the end, and then
branch off and go for all four of the "standard" endings.
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Bad Ending 1
Clear the last stage having passed more than 100 bills through the Black
Congress by force. This takes a little while!
My recommendation is to repeatedly have a very weak character try to pass
the "Give Me Money" bill, which will result both in terrible failure when
trying to pass the bill rationally (producing the fight that you need) and
in weak opponents in the battle to pass the bill. This makes things go much
more quickly. If you actually have trouble failing to pass the bill you can
always hand out a bunch of items to legislators who don't want them to make
them hate you.
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Bad Ending 2
Clear the last stage having defeated the Item God at the 100th level of a
Legend item. If the requirements for both Bad Endings are met, Bad Ending 1
results, so you may want to do this one first! This can also be quite a
task. No particular tips here, unfortunately, besides do a lot of leveling
and fight it out!
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Normal Ending
This one's the Standard Ending. Progress through the game to the end, and
this is probably what you'll get. This ending happens when you clear the
last stage, having met none of the requirements for the above three endings.
After seeing this ending, you'll want the good one, so either be careful
your first time through the game or get ready to zip through a second time!
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Earth Conqueror Ending
Finish the last stage on the Human World map! Not much to say about this
one, it's pretty easy.
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Flon Ending
Cute! To get this one, you need at least 50 ally murders by the time you
clear the last map of the third episode. After you clear the map, you'll be
offered an option to kill or not kill Zenisuki--choose to kill him to get the
ending.
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Etona Ending
A must-see for Etona fans! Get 100 ally murders before clearing the last map
of the fifth episode. You'll be given another to kill or not to kill choice,
and must choose the former to get the ending.
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Chuu-Boss Ending
More like a glorified Game Over, this is still worth watching--it's got a
vocal track you won't hear otherwise, and it's incredibly easy to get!
Simply lose any battle against Chuu-Boss (you actually have to have the max.
number of characters die rather than giving up) to get it.
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Game Over
No, it's not really an ending, but if you haven't listened to the vocal track
at the Game Over screen you should go lose a battle and listen now--it's
pretty.
+-------------------------------------------------------------------------------+
Note:
Yes, Disgaea has a "New Game +" feature--after finishing the game, you can
restart with your characters and equipment essentially unchanged.
The state governing the requirements for the endings is RESET when you
restart like this--thus, if you get the Normal Ending your first time through
the game, you can get the Good Ending on your second pass through if you
don't kill any allies. This feature obviously makes getting the different
endings a much easier task to manage, particularly if you get to the end
and find that you can't get an ending in your current state (which happens
more often than not).
