1. INTRODUCTION
******************************************************************************
Hey, y'all! Welcome to my FAQ/Walkthrough for DDR SuperNOVA 2, the version
for the North American PS2. In the 2007 version of the famed Dance Dance
Revolution series, we continue the tradition of a version based very closely
on its arcade counterpart. In this FAQ, you'll find information on all the
game's songs, game modes, how to play, and how to get through the new
Hyper Master Mode. I can see a dream in your dance! I can see tomorrow in
your dance! We can call it "Our Hope"!
******************************************************************************
2. FAQ
******************************************************************************
Q: What is Dance Dance Revolution SuperNOVA 2?
A: DDR SuperNOVA is Konami's 2007 edition of their famed DDR series, a
companion to the arcade release of the same name in the same year.
Q: How does one play Dance Dance Revolution games?
A: It's actually pretty simple. Your "controller" has four directions: left,
down, up, and right, which are shown at the top of your play screen. You
select a song. As the song plays, arrows will start scrolling up to your top
line. When an arrow scrolling up reaches the line of arrows at the top, you
must "step" on the direction matching that arrow's direction. If two arrows
come up at once, you must press both at once. If a green "freeze" arrow
appears, you must hold that step at the beginning until the freeze arrow ends.
Q: How many songs in this mix?
A: There are 72 songs in this mix. 28 are open by default, and the other 44
you unlock through Hyper Master Mode, or by playing songs repeatedly (the
former is the faster way).
Q: Are there any repeats from old mixes in this game?
A: Just one (if you don't count the Online Only songs from the last game,
otherwise six), and it's not one of my favorites, but it might be one of
yours. If there are older songs you want to play, look through my "Master
Song List" guide on GameFAQs to see if it shows up in an American game.
Q: How do I unlock new songs?
A: The main means of unlocking songs is through Hyper Master Mode. Whenever
you complete a mission with a song you haven't unlocked yet, that song
becomes available for purchase in the Shop. Remember that you'll need
enough Shop Points to purchase it, so conserve for your favorites.
Q: Is the EyeToy required to play?
A: No. All there is to play is Hands & Feet Mode, which you can activate in
"Select a Style" if the EyeToy is hooked up. All songs have the same
difficulties as they did for regular Single.
Q: Is this just like DDR SuperNOVA 2 in the arcades? I heard there were 300
songs!
A: Due to matters of space, and the fact that Konami, being a business, wants
to maximize their return and not put all their eggs in one basket, we're
given a selection of music that was featured in the arcade game, and a few
songs that aren't.
Q: Where's Battle Mode? I can't select it from Game Mode!
A: Battle Mode has been moved to the Advanced Mode section. You can also
find all the other features of Advanced Mode that you did in the last
couple of games.
Q: What does Hyper Score do?
A: Hyper Score, which you get in Hyper Master Mode if you use Challenge
Modules, is a secondary score that, apparently, makes it easier to get
certain modules. Furthermore, there are some modules you can only get
through Hyper Score. However, don't ask me what gives you what, because
I'm clueless. Hyper Score also might help in filling your blue/gold
achievement bar for each mission.
Q: Who is NAOKI?
A: Naoki Maeda has been with Konami for many years. He is the leader of
Konami AM Internal Sound Team, who are in charge of coming up with songs for
each new DDR release. He's responsible for many songs throughout DDR-dom,
under lots of artist names. His styles run several levels, but seem to
have distilled recently down to euro beat and euro trance. His artist names
include: Omega (the symbol), 100-200-400, 1479, 180, 190, 190', 200, 270,
290, 8 bit, B3-PROJECT, BIG-O, BLUE DESTROYERS, Crystal Aliens, DANDY
MINIERO, d-complex, DJ KAZU, DE-SIRE, DE-STRAD, DIVAS, DR. VIBE, FACTOR-X,
FIXX, KTz, Luv UNLIMITED, mitsu-O!, MR. DOG, MUSTACHE MEN, N&S, N.M.R, NM,
NO.9, NW260, RE-VENGE, RevenG, Stone Bros., TailBros, THE FINAL BAND, THE
SURRENDERS, UZI-LAY, Z, ZZ.
Q: What is beatmania?
A: Developed almost concurrently with DDR, BM is a series of games where you
use your fingers instead of your feet. You have a set of keys, like a piano,
and you have to tap those to create the music (each key tap adds music to the
playing score). Also, you have a turntable to "scratch", which also adds
sound. The original beatmania had 5 keys, beatmania IIDX has 7 keys (and is
the only one of the series still coming out with new mixes), and beatmania
III has 5 keys and a foot pedal. I refer to a few songs as being "from
beatmania". If you want to try some of these songs in their original form,
pick up the US release of beatmania and support it! ^_^
Q: What are Guitar Freaks and Drummania?
A: These ongoing series are favorites from BEMANI. Guitar Freaks uses a
guitar with three neck buttons and a "pick", which allows you to insert
music into the song. Drummania is similar, using a drum set. A few mixes
into the series, BEMANI got the wise idea of combining the two series,
giving each mix the same list, and allowing the machines to link up. Oh,
and just so you know, Guitar Hero came well AFTER Guitar Freaks.
Q: What is pop'n music?
A: This is a currently ongoing BEMANI series that is similar to beatmania,
only it just involves a bunch of colored buttons. It has a more cartoonish
look to it than other BEMANI series, and many of the songs are happy songs,
or songs from popular anime or TV.
Q: What is Dance ManiaX?
A: This is a short-lived series that was made to showcase more Dancemania
tunes, as well as a bunch of Konami Originals. It's played with light beams,
and blocking them in time with the music.
Q: I think a genre you have listed is incorrect.
A: Tell me what you think it should be, but present a good case, because I've
asked a lot of people about this subject. However, if you're disputing a
genre that has a star (*) after it, then I won't bother, because those are
the official genres as Konami states.

Beginner: Selecting this will give you a reduced song list, removing all
the particularly hard songs so that beginners don't get overwhelmed by
the hard stuff too early.
Standard: This is the standard game play setting.
---
Select Music
Use Left and Right to switch songs. Tap Up or Down to change the difficulty.
Press X or Circle to select.
Press Start to access the Quick Menu. From here you can change the sorting
of the list, save your progress, or check your records in one list.
Changing the sorting will change it from the default "by color" setup to an
alphabetical list where you can pick the letter, to by BPM from slowest to
fastest, to by step difficulty, based on the current difficulty you have
selected, and your "favorites", which is measured by the total score from all
your plays of the song divided by the number of the difficulty each time you
played.
Difficulties:
Beginner (BEG): Almost all songs are 1-footers. Don't play this for too long
if you wish to get better.
Basic (BAS): Most songs range from 2 to 5 feet. This is pretty simple if
you're getting used to DDR.
Difficult (DIF): Most songs range from 4 to 7 feet. Largely, you'll find that
steps reflect how the music goes, as opposed to just being on the beat.
Expert (EXP): Most songs range from 6 to 10 feet. These are the tough ones
where they focus on two things: matching the song's notes exactly, and/or
kicking up the difficulty to give you pains.
Challenge (CHA): A special "second Expert" difficulty. Only certain songs
have this difficulty.
At the left side of the screen, you'll see the BPM for the song, which may be
dynamic, and the "Groove Radar", which gives a detailed look at the song.
Groove Radar: This is a graphical representation of the difficulty of the
song. It's broken down into five attributes:
- Stream: More or less the overall number of steps.
- Voltage: The rate at which the density of steps changes. A higher voltage
means you have more times where steps get very clustered vs. spaced out.
This is good for spotting songs that have difficult runs.
- Air: The overall number of double steps (time spent in the air).
- Freeze: The overall number and length of freeze arrows.
- Chaos: The number of weird steps (not straight 1/4 and 1/8, or steps that
force you turn as you step).
If you can't figure out what song you want, you can select ROULETTE. This
will start the song list rolling. Press X to stop it. It's tough to get it
to stop on a song you want, though. Of course, stopping it doesn't mean
anything, as you'll still have full control over the song wheel afterwards,
if you don't like that song.
Also, you can select RANDOM. This will automatically pick a random song at
the current difficulty. You will not be able to adjust anything once you hit
the RANDOM button.
Furthermore, select EDIT DATA to pick any saved edits you have to play with.
---
Below the difficulties is "OPTIONS". Select that to adjust how the song is
played. The song options are as follows below:
Speed: This is the speed of the arrows on the screen. It doesn't affect the
speed of the song, just the arrows. So, in a sense, the arrows will be
spaced further apart so they can be read easier.
Boost: If turned on, the arrows will gradually speed up as they move on the
game screen.
Appearance: "Visible" is the normal setting. If "Hidden" is on, the arrows
will vanish about half-way. If "Sudden" is on, the arrows will appear about
half-way. If "Stealth" is on, you won't see the arrows at all.
Turn: "Off" is normal. "Mirror" rotates all arrows 180 degrees. "Left"
rotates them 90 degrees to the left. "Right" in the other direction.
"Shuffle" specifically picks two sets of arrows and reverses their roles,
giving a new somewhat random selection that doesn't fall under Mirror, Left,
or Right.
Dark: Turning this on will remove the Step Zone from the screen.
Scroll: "Standard" is normal bottom to top scrolling. "Reverse" is, oddly
enough, scrolling from top to bottom.
Arrow: "Vivid" is the normal setup. "Note" (also known as Solo) gives you
different colors for different types of notes (1/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc).
"Rainbow" is similar to Note, only with brighter colors. "Flat" gives you
all arrows the same color.
Cut: Turning this on will remove all non-quarter notes from the song. It
won't give you a good chance for a high score, though.
Freeze Arrow: You can turn the Freeze Arrows off.
Jump: Turning this to "Off 1" will make all jumps into single steps. Turning
this to "Off 2" will remove jumps entirely.
Character: "Random" is default, but you can select any random male or female,
or any of the eight characters specifically: Disco, Emi, Rage, Jenny,
Baby-Lon, Robo-Zukin, Gus, or Ruby. There are also additional characters to
unlock.
Stage: Select which of the multi-colored 3D stages you want your character to
dance in.
---
Are You Ready?
The main field consists of the arrows and the Step Zone, which is a line of
arrows on the screen. As the song plays, arrows will begin scrolling along
the screen. As the arrows reach the Step Zone, you need to step on those
arrows. If you see a green Freeze Arrow, you need to step on that arrow and
hold it until the Freeze Arrow ends (you don't need to remove your foot when
it ends, just stay on it until it ends, and move your foot at your leisure).
On the top of the screen is the Dance Meter. It starts about half full. As
you step properly, it'll fill more. If you misstep, your Dance Meter will
start emptying. If it empties completely, game over.
On the bottom of the screen is the difficulty (in case you forgot), and your
score as it tallies up.
Also in the middle of the screen, you'll see words pop up as you step:
MARVELOUS: You stepped precisely on the arrow. Combo continues, the dance
meter increases, and you get the maximum possible score from that step.
PERFECT: You stepped more or less precisely on the arrow. Combo continues,
the dance meter increases, and you get the maximum possible score from that
step minus ten points.
GREAT: You just about stepped on the arrow. Combo continues, the dance meter
increases, and you get half the maximum possible score for the step minus
ten points.
GOOD: You're off on the step by a bit. Combo stops, but the dance meter
doesn't change. You get no points.
ALMOST: You're off on the step by quite a bit. Combo stops, and your dance
meter decreases. You get no points.
BOO: You completely missed the step. Combo stops, and your dance meter
decreases. You get no points.
OK!: You stepped on the whole Freeze Arrow. You get the normal maximum score
for a step.
NG: You stepped off the Freeze Arrow before it ended. Combo continues, but
your Dance Meter will decrease. You get no points.
Also marked on the screen is your combo, which is how many MARVELOUS, PERFECTs
and GREATs you have in a row. The announcer will tell you when you hit 100
combo, 200, etc.
---
Evaluation
Once you complete the song, you'll see an Evaluation Screen. You'll receive
a letter grade, a tally on how many of each step you got, your maximum combo,
and your score.
Scoring is measured by the following algorithm:
X = The total number of standard steps (double steps count as one) +
(2 * the total number of Freeze Arrows)
Y = 1,000,000 / X
Each MARVELOUS and OK is worth Y points. Each PERFECT is worth Y-10 points.
Each GREAT is worth (Y-10)/2 points. All other types of steps are worth no
points.
So, your maximum possible score is 1 million.
The grades are AAA, AA, A, B, C, D, and E.
AAA = 990,000 - 1 million
AA = 950,000
A = 900,000
B = 750,000(?)
C = 600,000(?)
D = Any score lower
E = Failed song
You get nothing particularly special for a clean 1 million (full MARVELOUS
combo).
---
Extra Stage
If you played your last song on Expert or Challenge difficulty and you got at
least a AA on it, you'll access the Extra Stage. Here, you can select a
fourth song to play.
Your Extra Stage must be played on Expert. The song will be played with the
options x1.5, Reverse, and Rainbow Arrow turned on. Your Dance Meter is
special here, too. Instead of a normal Dance Meter, you'll have a No
Recovery Dance Meter, which will start completely full. If you misstep, the
Dance Meter will go down, and you cannot increase it back up.
The song "Unreal" is added to the list when selecting an Extra Stage.
---
One More Extra Stage
If you select a red song for your Extra Stage and pass it, you'll be allowed
to play another song. This song will be played on Rainbow Arrow and with one
tick on the Challenge bar, meaning one misstep is a failure.
The song "NGO" is added to the list when selecting a OMES.
---
EyeToy Play
Plug an EyeToy into one of the USB ports, then fire up Game Mode. The
game will ask if you wish to use the EyeToy, then give you the style. It
will give you the additional style select of "Hands & Feet". After selecting
that, you'll go to the song select screen.
You'll notice there are additional markers on the difficulties. Next to
every difficulty is a set of handprints. These are how difficult the hand
motions are for this song, on a level of one to two. Also available is a
special "Hands & Feet" step difficulty which focuses the steps so they
compliment the hand motions.
As you play, you'll have an image of what the EyeToy sees transposed onto the
screen. You need to move the image of yourself onto hand prints when they
scroll up to the Step Zone.
In addition, if you wish, you can just select the usual Single, Versus, or
Double while using the EyeToy and you get the same "Watch Me Dance" from
Extreme USA. Added to the "Quick Menu" (START button) is the selection of
"Camera", where you can check what the camera's seeing.

3D. Dancing Tips for the Beginner =
===================================
KEEP PRACTICING!
So, you've just got into DDR, eh? Good for you! You've become a part of a
cult sensation that still holds tons of respect in arcades across the country!
This game will probably seem quite overwhelming to you at first, especially
if you watch people play it and watch them do 9-footers. Don't sweat it.
You CAN be as good as them with the proper practice and effort.
If you really want to get into this, definitely use the Official DDR Pad.
There's no PS2 controller to use in the arcades, so learn the pad nice and
early. Most game stores have a few of these tucked away (possibly more, if
Konami's hyping this game like they should). If you're truly a beginner, you
may just want to start with a nice cheap pad. That way, if you find it's not
for you, you're not out a huge investment.
So, to begin, use the Tutorial the game provides you. It will walk you
through the basics and coach you to be a better dancer.
Here are some tips I can give you as a beginner:
1. Get a good feeling for the beat. People who have performed with music have
an advantage. People in marching band have a serious advantage. ~_^ You'll
be stepping to the beat in these early stages, so get used to it now.
2. Now that you have the beat, you must "find the arrows". Yeah, sure. I
know they're right there in front of you, to your sides, and behind you, but
can you hit them without looking? Early on, you'll find that's your biggest
problem: taking a step and not landing on the arrow. If you have to look,
look, but that tactic won't last forever, so before a song takes off, take
some cursory steps to make sure you're hitting arrows.
3. Keep your center. Especially on cheap pads with no definition, you'll find
yourself often taking leave of the center of the pad as you continue stepping.
If there's a break in the song, look down to make sure you're in the center.
4. Use the balls of your feet. You may notice, after some days of a lot of
playing, that your ankles will start hurting. That's normal, and it's
happened to most everyone I know that DDRs. This is your feet telling you to
not step with your heels, but with the front of the foot. Get into that
habit.
5. Now that you have these basics, head into Beginner Mode and start tackling
songs. In particular, get used to the speed of the songs, as well as the
speeding-up, slowing-down, and stopping some songs do. When that just gets
too easy, take a deep breath and head into the real DDR world with Basic
Mode. Try to keep your songs at three feet or below, but don't be afraid to
venture out into the great unknown.
=======================================
3E. Dancing Tips for the Intermediate =
=======================================
KEEP PRACTICING!
Well, you're definitely not a n00b anymore (pardon my French). You're at the
point where you wouldn't completely humiliate yourself at the arcades, but
you probably won't impress many people there. In fact, you may just bore them
with your simple steps. It's time to go to the next level.
At this point in your career, it's time to consider a new pad. For me, this
meant going to redoctane.com and ordering their standard soft pad. This pad
has a soft bottom which won't slip or bunch up as much. It's still not a
serious pad, but you could do worse with fifty bucks.
So, first tip is to KNOW THE SONGS. You don't necessarily need to memorize
the steps, but have a basic understanding of the song before you go into it.
Even memorize the music itself, the lyrics, etc. so you can whistle along.
Know where the tempo changes may occur, where stops are. Most importantly,
know where the songs musical notes occur in the melody, because these will
be mostly what you step.
Now that we're heading into dangerous territory, there is one big rule that
I have to stress right away:
Remember how in the last part I told you to "find your center"? Well, you've
found it by now, so now it's time to GET OFF IT. That's a crutch that's
let you into the game, but it will hold you back later on. What you have to
learn is to return your feet to the center as rarely as possible, if at all.
Move your feet from one arrow to the next, and don't move them unless you have
an arrow to go to. This is probably the hardest thing you'll ever have to
learn as a DDR player. Once you've relinquished your grip on the center, you
only stand to improve up to the highest reaches of DDR-dom.
This actually leads to the other major point of going intermediate:
Eighth notes. Those are those off-colored ones. You'll have to deal with
a lot of them, so learn to love them now. This is actually a good first step
to leaving the center, because you are absolutely required to step three or
more arrows in succession, and you'll have no time to return to the center at
all. Use groups of three eighth notes to figure how to properly move between
arrows; combinations such as up-left-down, where your right foot goes on up,
left foot goes on left, and your right foot is already carrying back towards
the down arrow, for example. Once you get strings of three down, you'll be
ready to tackle longer strings, of four, five, seven, even nine if they're
not too tangly.
So, for this end, you'll want to go for songs of four to six feet in
difficulty, as well as treading into the pink pink waters of Difficult Mode.
Just about all songs of this difficulty have at least several eighth notes
to give you practice. Take these opportunities to develop your step
combinations for your own style, so you'll be ready to use them when they
appear again in harder songs.
Also, it may behoove you to get into Workout Mode or Endless Mode and
repeatedly hammer some songs, particularly those of a brisk pace. This is a
good first step to building up all-important stamina.

3F. Dancing Tips for the Advanced =
===================================
KEEP PRACTICING!
All right. You're through messing around, and through getting condescending
looks from your peers at the arcade. It's time to show them what you can
really do and kick it up a notch or three.
If you're really serious now, it's once again time for a new pad. Although
7, 8, and even some 9-footers are possible on a soft, flimsy pad, you just
won't get the high scores you cherish. For this, I turned to RedOctane's
Ignition 2.0. It's also a soft pad, but the thick foam insert, soft gripping
bottom, and raised step platforms make it a good pad for aspiring champions,
all for a paltry 100 clams.
Of course, if you have the money to blow (approximately $300), you may want
to take it even further and buy the Cobalt Flux pad, which is a custom-made
hard metal pad. It's VERY resilient, and much like pads you'll see in the
arcades.
An alternative was suggested to me by one Coldman64: If you still have a thin
mat, and you need help finding where the panels are, you can try putting a
folded-up T-shirt underneath the center, allowing you to know where it is.
Anyway, pads aside, it's time to get down to business:
First, you better have mastered the stuff from the previous sections. I want
to be able to yell out a song title and for you to hum it right there so you
know what it sounds like. I don't wanna see your feet touch that center,
soldier, or you'll drop and give me fifty. At this point, you should also
have quick enough eye-foot coordination so that matching arrows on the screen
with proper steps is second-nature.
Now, for some new tactics:
Chaos. You'll soon find as you reach the higher levels, that not all arrows
are quarter notes and eighth notes. You'll find sixteenths, twelfths, and
thirty-second notes thrown in to mess you up. Very rarely will they be in
random. Almost always, they'll match up with how the song goes, so you'll
at least have that going for you. So, a thorough knowledge of the songs will
allow you to surmount this hurdle with little difficulty.
Taps. This is the name I like to give eighth notes all on the same arrow.
These are always a pain, because you have to train your foot to tap rapidly on
the same arrow for a possibly long time, and it can really wear you out.
There's no easy way to get around this, you just have to learn it as you go.
Gallops. This is the popular name for a series of steps that has two
sixteenth note steps together, then two sixteen notes of dead space, then two
note steps together, and so on. When you step these notes, you'll feel like
a horse gallopping, which derives the name. Oftentimes, these notes will be
strung so that the last note in one gallop is the first note of the next
gallop. To properly step these, leave your last-stepping foot in place, so
it'll be ready to step the next gallop while your other foot moves to the
next note. This leads to the final tactic.
Axis of Rotation or "crossovers". Contrary to popular belief, you do not have
to have your upper body directly facing the screen at all times. A very
important tactic for the toughest songs is turning your body so that making
truly difficult steps becomes easier. Using alternating feet on long series'
of eighth notes is far less taxing than taking two or more eighth notes with
one foot. The best way to start turning your body is with left-down-right
eighth note combos. Left foot on the left arrow, right foot on the down, and
turn so that your left foot hits the right arrow. It'll be very disorienting
at first, but the hard songs will really take it out of you if you don't
learn. After learning a basic turn, learn to maintain your body at a 90
degree angle to the screen for extended periods of time, and then taking it
further by rotating 180 degrees, or even 270 and 360, if you're brave enough
to take your eyes off the screen.
Finally, it's important to be in relatively good shape for this. You have to
have the proper stamina and leg strength to pull off the toughest ones,
because rather dexterous and tiring feats will be required of you, so keep
pounding at it, do hard songs repeatedly to build up strength, and push
yourself harder and harder to go all the way up to the great green Expert
Mode.
And lastly, never tackle 10-footers without a good insurance plan backing
you up. ^_^
==============================
3G. Dancing Tips for Doubles =
==============================
KEEP PRACTICING!
Get ready to relearn DDR all over again as you branch out towards the second
pad.
First of all, it'd be best you get good pads for this. Soft flat mats are
just no good at all, since they'll slide apart and over each other. Even
Ignition Pads are tough for this, since they can move as well, unless you
can find some way to lash them together. The best, naturally, is the Cobalt
Flux dual setup, which you can connect.
Okay, you probably should begin your Doubles career after at least mastering
Difficult on Single, but it's best on Expert.
One of the greatest things to "unlearn" from Single Play is to be able to
move your entire body. When playing Single, you'll generally maintain your
upper body in one place spatially, but that definitely won't fly on Doubles.
Crossovers take on a whole new meaning when playing on higher levels on
Double Play. In a general sense, you'll be playing with your left foot on
the right arrow on the left pad, while your right foot will be on the left
arrow on the right pad. A lot of the stepcharts on Doubles are engineered so
you dance around that setup.
After that, it's all pretty much getting used to the new setup. Practice and
practice some more. Build up your stamina, learn how to read eight arrows,
and know where to step.

4A. And Then We Kiss (Junkie XL Mix) =
======================================
Artist: Britney Spears
Genre: Dance Pop
BPM: 130
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 5
EXP: 7 7
Expert Notes: Not too much to write home about this one. Streams tend to
be short, although there are some long ones late in the chart, with a few
crossovers.
---
Lyrics:
Lying alone
Touching my skin
I'm falling under
A girl like me
And I can't hold it in
It makes me wonder
Is this for real?
It's not what it seems
You're like an angel
I'm running now
My feet off the ground
Take me
Touch me
Won't you hold me close?
And then we kiss
Your love comes alive on my lips
I feel the rush
Coming over me, over me
And when we touch
This moment when everything's still
I close my eyes
And then we kiss
And then we kiss
And then we kiss
And when we touch
This moment when everything's still
I close my eyes
And then we kiss

Genre: Latin/J-Pop
BPM: 131
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 5

Expert Notes: The biggest mess here is the beginning and the end. The
opening pushes triplet steps and following the accents. The middle is
somewhat long streams with a relatively large amount of crossovers. The
end is a big jumble of triplets and off-beat steps with jumps, so be careful.
There are also plenty of gallops scattered throughout.

Expert Notes: The first part of the song has gallops, sixteenths, syncopation,

streams that go all over the pad, including some sixteenths and jumps thrown
in, all the way to the end.

Artist: Cascada
Genre: Eurodance
BPM: 142
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 5
EXP: 8 8
Expert Notes: The notable parts of this are those after the chorus once the
trance notes kick in: lots of gallops. They follow each other in the first
part, but in the second part until the end they go all over the pad without
reason. The rest of the song is pretty simple.
---
Lyrics:
I can't stop the rain from fallin'
I'm drownin' in these tears I cry
Since you left without a warning
I face the dawn with sleepless eyes
No, I can't go on
When clouds are pushin' down on me, boy
I can't stop, I can't stop the rain
From fallin'
Your love
Is nothing but a bitter taste
It's better if I walk away
Away from you (better if I walk away)
I can't stop the rain from fallin'
I'm drownin' in these tears I cry
Since you left without a warning
I face the dawn with sleepless eyes
No, I can't go on

Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 2 3
DIF: 5 5
EXP: 6 7
Expert Notes: Nothing too fancy, here, apart from the long-triplets that
match with the chorus. After that, some streams, some crossovers, etc.
---
Lyrics:
Dream of love
For you and me
I can see it
In your eyes blessed with the moonlight
Fly away
From a lot of memories
In this place we once said goodbye
Do you still love me?
Can you prove it in your own way
I'm still there finding a way out of it
Too late, too late
I just cannot let it go off of my mind
But I'm gonna give it a try
Dream of love, for you and me
I can see it in your eyes blessed with the moonlight
Truth of love for you and me
I can see it in your eyes so full of tears
Wanna be with you
I found myself I'm still in love
A dream of love
We can't end this thing now

EXP: 9 9
Expert Notes: This song is big on its 6/8 timing. There are gallops and

opening and at the end, where there's no clear melody, just mostly rhythm.

DIF: 3 4
EXP: 6 6
Expert Notes: This slow song has quite simple streams, and only a few jumps
popping up at the end of streams.
---
Lyrics:
I can't sleep at night, I toss and turn
Listenin' for the telephone
But, when I get your call, I'm all choked up
Can't believe you called my home
And as a matter of fact, it blows my mind
You would even talk to me
Because a girl like you is like a dream come true
A real life fantasy
No matter what your friends try to tell you
We were made to fall in love
And we will be together in any kind of weather
Just like that, just like that
Every little step I take you will be there
Every little step I make we'll be together
Every little step I take you will be there
Every little step I make we'll be together

Genre: Dance Pop
BPM: 126
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 5
EXP: 7 7
Expert Notes: The most prominent feature of this chart is that there are
several freezes, many starting as jumps, but moving to another step. It's
not malicious, but prolific. Other than that, streams, some with crossovers.
---
Lyrics:
Faster kill, faster still pussycat
I can't stand to see you cry
Honey you know where the world is at
Get what you want with your lucky eyes
You turn me on (yeah you turn me, yeah you turn me on)
You turn me on (yeah you turn me, yeah you turn me on)
(Pussycat...)
Heaven knows I tried to let you go
I can't help myself, you know I'm out of control

Difficulty:

Artist: Cheryl Lynn
Genre: Disco Funk
BPM: 115
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 5
EXP: 7 7
Expert Notes: Things to watch out for here are mostly near the end. Just
before the key-change, the freeze arrow is a sixteenth after the last step,
not an eighth. After that, there are a few gallops thrown in, then the
last part is some short triplets.
---
Lyrics:
What you find, ah
(I think I love you, baby)
What you feel now
(I feel I need you, baby)
What you know-a
(Oh oh oh)
To be real
Ooh, your love's for real now

Artist: Ashley Tisdale
Genre: Dance Pop
BPM: 115
Difficulty:

BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 5

Expert Notes: Long streams in this song, but at a slow pace, so it's not
that big of a deal. What you need to watch for are the freeze arrows that
can mess up your streaming, forcing you to use one foot for more than one
step in a row.

Just wanna rock you, girl
We could move, but we
Let’s go, let’s give it a whirl
See, it appears to me
You like the way I move
I tell you what I'm gonna do
Pull you close to share my groove
So you grab your girls and you grab a couple more
And you all could meet me in the middle of the floor
Said the air is thick, it's smellin' right
So you pass to the left, then you sail to the right
Don't be so quick to walk away (dance with me)
I wanna rock your body, please stay (dance with me)
You don't have to admit you wanna play (dance with me)
Just let me rock you till the break of day (dance with me)
Don't be so quick to walk away (I was just thinkin' of you)
Don't be so quick to walk away (we could do somethin')

4Q. Say Goodbye =

Artist: Chris Brown
Genre: R&B Ballad
BPM: 115
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 2 1
DIF: 4 4
EXP: 6 6
Expert Notes: This relatively slow song has steps that try to follow the
flowing lyrics as they syncopate, and a few jumps in odd places.
---
Lyrics:
Yeah
Whoa, whoa, whoa, oh, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, oh, whoa...
Listen...
Baby come here and sit down, let's talk
I got a lot to say so I guess I'll start by
Saying that I love you,
But you know, this thing ain't been
No walk in the park for us
I swear it'll only take a minute
You'll understand when I finish, yeah
And I don't wanna see you cry
But I don't wanna be the one to tell you a lie, so
How do you let it go? When you
You just don't know? What's on
The other side of the door
When you're walking out (talk about it)
Everything I tried to remember to say
Just went out my head
So I'm-a do the best I can to get you to understand
'Cause I know
There's never a right time to say goodbye
But I gotta make the first move
'Cause if I don't you gonna start hating me
'Cause I really don't feel the way I once felt about you
Girl it's not you, it's me
I kinda gotta figure out what I need (oh)
There's never a right time to say goodbye
But we know that we gotta go
Our separate ways
And I know it's hard but I gotta do it
And it's killing me
'Cause there's never a right time
Right time to say goodbye
Girl I know your heart is breaking
And a thousand times I
Found myself asking, "Why? Why?"
Why am I taking so long to say this?
But trust me, girl I never
Meant to crush your world
And I never...

Artist: Goldfrapp
Genre: Electronica
BPM: 126
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 6 6
EXP: 8 8
Expert Notes: The rhythm of this song should be obvious: sort of half-gallop
steps to follow the swing pattern. These are sandwiched into streams,
jumps, and crossovers, so be vigilant, and hold the rhythm, because it doesn't
really change.
---
Lyrics:
I get high on a buzz
Then a rush when I'm plugged in you
I connect when I'm flush
You get love when told what to do
Wonderful, electric
Wonderful, electric
Wonderful, electric
Cover me in you
I'm in love, I'm in love
I'm in love with a strict machine
I'm in love, I'm in love
I'm in love with a strict machine

Genre: Alternative Rock
BPM: 101
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 2
DIF: 5 5
EXP: 7 7
Expert Notes: Given how slow this song goes, the difficulty comes from the
steps themselves, which include some relatively long streams and a few
spots that follow the off-beat guitar.
---
Lyrics:
Her face is a map of the world
Is a map of the world
You can see she's a beautiful girl
She's a beautiful girl
And everything around her is a silver pool of light
The people who surround her feel the benefit of it
It makes you calm
She holds you captivated in her palm
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me
(Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me
And she's taller than most
And she's looking at me
I can see her eyes looking from a page in a magazine
She got the power to be
The power to give
The power to see
She got the power to be
The power to give
The power to see, yeah yeah
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
This is what I wanna be
Suddenly I see (Suddenly I see)
Why the hell it means so much to me

Genre: Synthpop
BPM: 169
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 4 4
DIF: 5 5

Expert Notes: This song largely follows the very recognizable melody and
rhythm. During the chorus, you'll have a big long stream with alternating
steps.
---
Lyrics:
We're talking away
I don't know what
I'm to say, I'll say it anyway
Today's another day to find you
Shying away
I'll be coming for your love, okay?
Take on me (take on me)
Take me on (take on me)
I'll be gone
In a day or two
So needless to say
I'm odds and ends
But, that's me stumbling away
Slowly learning that life is okay
Say after me
It's no better to be safe than sorry
Take on me (take on me)
Take me on (take on me)
I'll be gone

Artist: Sean Paul
Genre: Dance Hall
BPM: 125
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 6
EXP: 8 8
Expert Notes: This messy chart tries to follow Mr. Paul's lyrics, with
sixteenths, gallops, and straight streams, including jumps thrown around
for accents. Just follow closely, because there is very little rhyme or
reason to the gallops.
---
Lyrics:

It was once in a lifetime
The time, it felt so right
There were words of consorting
The words I tried to hide
I'm hearing the voices
They say you will be mine
I reach for the sun
And I'm going to my brain
I'm feeling on fire
Knowing that you are next to me
Coming hotter and hotter
You burn into my soul

Artist: EMF
Genre: Alternative Rock
BPM: 104
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 6 6
EXP: 7 7
Expert Notes: Longish streams in this track, which aren't too hard given the
slow tempo. Watch for the syncopation just after the chorus each time.
---
Lyrics:
You burden me with your problems
By telling me more than mine
I'm always so concerned
With the way you say
You've always go to stop
To think of us being one
Is more than I ever know
But this time, I realize
I'm going to shoot through
And leave you
The things, you say
Your purple prose just gives you away
The things, you say
You're unbelievable
Seemingly lastless, don't mean
You can ask us
Pushing down the relative
Bringing out your higher self
Think of the fine times
Pushing down the better few
Instead of bringing out the clues
To what the world and everything anger to
Brace yourself with the grace of ease
I know this world ain't what it seems
You burden me with your questions
You'd have me tell no lies
You're always asking what its all about
But don't listen to my replies
You say to me I don't talk enough
But when I do I'm a fool
These times I've spent, I've realized
I'm going to shoot through
And leave you
The things, you say
Your purple prose just gives you away
The things, you say
You're unbelievable

BPM: 142
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1

Expert Notes: The bridge is probably the hardest part of this song, as it has
sixteenths throw in regularly and odd crossover stream steps.

First Appearance: BRAND NEW
Artist Notes: Beatdrop's real name is Dain C. Olsen. Apparently, he hangs

Artist: Natasha Bedingfield
Genre: Dance Pop
BPM: 130
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 6
EXP: 7 8
Expert Notes: Nothing particularly remarkable about this one. Streams that
don't get too hard, but are a little complicated. There are also a few
gallops thrown in for reasons I can't fathom, so stay sharp.
---
Lyrics:
I break tradition, sometimes my tries are outside the lines
We've been conditioned to not make mistakes, but I can't live that way
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Staring at the blank page before you
Open up the dirty window
Let the sun illuminate the words that you could not find
Reaching for something in the distance
So close you can almost taste it
Release your inner visions

Expert Notes: The high speed makes this one a bear, but the thing to recognize
is that there is a rhythm to these steps that it almost religiously follows,
albeit an odd rhythm, so practice this to get that down. Also a favorite of
this track is an off-beat freeze arrow stepping frenzy that appears on
cymbal crashes.

Lyrics:
Wind it up!
This is the key that makes us wind up
When the beat comes on, the girls all line up
And the boys all look, but no, they can't touch
But the girls want to know why the boys like us so much
They like the we dance, they like the way we work
They like that way that L.A.M.B. is going across my shirt
They like the way my pants, it compliments my shape (She's crazy, right?)
They like the way we react every time we dance
Every time the bass bangs, realize it calls your name
Let the beat wind you up, and don't stop 'til your time is up
(Get in line now)
Wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
Wind it up, uh, uh, uh, uh
Uh huh, you know your key is still tick-tockin'
Hell yeah, and you know they're watchin'
Get it girl, get it, get it girl
Get it girl, get it, get it girl
To the font, to the side,
To the back, but don't let him ride
Keep goin' girl, it's your night
Don't let him steal your light
I know he thinks you're fine and stuff
But does he know how to wind you up?

Every time the bass bangs, realize it calls your name
Let the beat wind you up, and don't stop 'til your time is up

Lyrics:
Just feel the love around you
This love's enough, it shines through
So take my hand and you'll see

Genre: R&B
BPM: 90
Difficulty:

BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 5

start popping up in the latter half of the song.

Lyrics:
Whoa, yeah yeah, mmmm
Work it out
Work it out
I just can't work it out
Why do I feel this way
You turn my world around
I hang on every word you say
It took me by surprise
I've lost all self-control
But now I need to find
The reason why I can't let it go
Every day, every night, I grow weaker
Every step, every time, you come nearer
Hold my breath, but I find
I just can't escape from you
Girl, you've got a hold on me
You're caught up in my fantasy
I lose control and I can't see
To work it out
Girl, you've got me deep inside
I'm torn apart and hypnotized
But I just need to find a sign
And work it out
Every day, every night, you're hauntin' me
Every day, every time I try to breathe
Every day, every night every turn of the dice can't set me free
Set me free
Set me free
Set me free
Set me free

when they come up.
Expert Notes: The only thing that makes this a pain is the fact that the
stops can come in the midst of streams, throwing you off. Other than that,
streams of varying lengths, with some crossovers, and a few jumps in them.
Watch in the middle part for odd-beat arrows around the freezes.

5J. Raspberry <3 Heart (English Version) =

Genre: Colorful Hardcore*
BPM: 160
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 5
EXP: 7 7
Expert Notes: Pretty high-rated for a seven-footer. The streams are pretty
easy and they aren't long at all. The only thing to really watch for is
just before the last chorus, where two freeze arrows are an eighth off from
each other.
---
Lyrics:
(I always wanna be with you my raspberry heart... heheheheh)
Hey, c'mon, let's go!
You knew the way, went straight for my heart
I'm with you, I'm sure what I'm after with you
But from the start I'm a little bit lonely (so lonely) (don't give up)
"I'm gonna stick with you, my heart"
The only words you give me, but what's that you said?
"You know I'll be there for you my raspberry heart..."
Now I'll be there for you, ooh...
I thought it would be the way to talk with you (talk with you)
Why, I kept always being left behind
Never wanting to say goodbye
But, you said you'd stay, I don't know why
But I know right now I wanna be with you forever and ever
(baby you're so true)
Raspberry heart will shine once again
Our hearts will fly to take us right off to the sky
Higher and higher, you bring out the fire in me (don't give up)
Because I may not always be gracefully clear
I'm always for you, don't you know that is so true
I'll always be there for you my raspberry heart
(raspberry heart)
Raspberry heart, raspberry heart
(raspberry heart)

BEG: 1
BAS: 4 3
DIF: 6 6

a triplet run, and a few other off-beat things.

Lyrics:
Está nascendo um novo dia
O amore já vai chegar
Nunca vi tanta poesia assim
Sol, onda e mar
De flor em flor

Sorriso tão sereno
Brisa fresca vem sonhar, voar

6A. Baby's Tears (SKY GIRLS opening theme) =
============================================
UNLOCK: Mission (F-04)
Artist: RIYU KOSAKA
Genre: Anime Opening
BPM: 125-170
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1
BAS: 3 3
DIF: 5 5
EXP: 7 7
Play Notes: The song slows down right at the end. You may or may not be
stepping here, depending on difficulty.
Expert Notes: Compared to other songs released around this time, this one's
a relative cakewalk for a seven-footer. Mostly simple streams, with some
crossovers. There are some harder streams later in the song, and there
are a couple of times where you're given an off-beat arrow to string some
streams.

produced in part by Konami. The video that plays is the one that plays in
the anime. There have been some slight edits to remove loli rear-end shots.

BPM: 65
Difficulty:

BEG: 1
BAS: 4 4
DIF: 7 8
EXP:10 10
Expert Notes: Twenty-fourth notes GALORE. If you speed up this song, it's
really about as difficult as your average eight-footer. There really is
no trick to this song but for you to watch very carefully, besides the fact
that the steps roughly follow the music.

Song Type: Konami Original
First Appearance: DDR Extreme (Arcade)

hard stuff is not too far into the song, where you start getting gallops
within the streams, and off-beat jumps.

Genre: Ballad*
BPM: 65
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 1

Lyrics:
I was the happiest guy
That's what everyone said (everyone said)
But, inside I was lonely then
Still I played my part so well
No one could ever tell
Just a smiling face
On an empty shell
And then
Look what you did when you came along (Look what you did)
Made me see I was wrong (What you did)
I felt so thick
I'm losing my mind
But, I don't really care cause I'm satisfied
Look what you did to me now (Look what you did)
My resistance is all breaking down (My resistances)
Now it's up to you
I'm in love with you, anyhow
(When I dream of you)
Oh, won't you look (what you did)
Look what you did to me now
Turned my universe upside down
I don't recognize who I was any more
I guess I was just playing a clown
I thank heaven above (heaven above)
For showing me what it's made of (it's made of)
Look what you did to me now (Look what you did)
I'm in love

Song Type: Konami Original
First Appearance: beatmania IIDX 6th Style

granted, but you'll have to deal with lots of offbeat steps, crossovers, and
freeze tricks.
---
Song Type: Konami Original
First Appearance: Guitar Freaks 8th Mix/Drummania 7th Mix
DDR Debut: DDR SuperNOVA (Arcade)

Genre: Happy Ska
BPM: 150-250
Difficulty:

BAS: 3 2
DIF: 5 5
EXP: 8 8
Play Notes: The song largely goes at 250 BPM for the majority, then drops to
150 near the end.
Expert Notes: The main difficulty is speed. The steps will largely follow
the music with offbeat steps and some small streams. The only really
difficult part is the drum solo about halfway where the steps follow fairly
well.

American Appearances: DDR Ultramix 4

Lyrics:
I'm gonna go my way!
Come with me, you muthas!
Let's go!
1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Break that door, let's get out of here
Come with me now
Now we are goin' our way
I wanna show you baby
The world you've never seen
Nothing can stop us now
So hold on tight, babe
It is a wild world out there
When you can open your eyes
No need to be afraid
Stay with me baby
You are the one to keep me sane
Baby take my hand and love me now
I don't wanna know what they say
No no I don't care
They can tell me nothin'
I'm gonna go my way
1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Break the doll and get out of here
Come with me now
Now we are goin' our way
C'mon!
Go on and fall apart!
Let's go! Ahh!
I don't wanna know
Which way to go, just keep on going
There is no time
No time to be wastin' now
1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Now is the time, let's get out of here
Come with me now
Nothing can ever stop us
Thank you!

Expert Notes: A song similar to DAIKENKAI in more than one way. Expect to
see several crossovers in this chart, and on the "Dan Dan Do!" lyrical part,
jump, jump, jump. As the song rolls on, more jumps will be thrown into the
mix.

Song Type: Konami Original
First Appearance: Guitar Freaks 11th Mix/Drummania 10th Mix

Play Notes: The song is 145 for the most part until slowing down to 140

Expert Notes: Pretty darn easy, even for a six-footer. Very short streams,
a tiny bit of chaos, and several jumps.

enough, with simple streams and a few more crossovers than normal. Then
it starts throwing in jumps at the end of streams. Then the small
sixteenth clusters show up, and then the freeze arrow tricks and it all
goes to heck. Pay particularly close attention in the latter half.

Lyrics:
No more will I wait
I've got to make my move
You'd never treat me wrong
If you knew how I'm feelin'
Baby can't you see?
To make you mine, oh mine
I'll turn things upside down (upside down)
Hunting for you
Why don't you love me?
(Oh oh oh) I want some kissin' cuz you know what I'm missin'
(Yeah) The earth goes quakin' when you're keepin' me shakin'
(Oh) Gonna start my chasing now
I wanna catch you and make you meow
You're the sweetest
How can I win your heart?
In a moment I'll crash
Nothing will calm me down
'Til you really love me
Darlin', hold me tight
No more will I wait
I've got to make my move
You'd never treat me wrong
If you knew how I'm feelin'

Lyrics:
Stars are out for us tonight
They're letting our love shine through
People just wait, you've got to stay
Feel the love from the words that I say
Don't you just know how I love you
Couldn't stop it in a million years
But if you ever had to go, no way to stop my tears
Over and over and over you
I'd never get over you
Over you, (over you) over you, (over you)
Never over you
For the sun will shine, if you'd stay mine
There could never be cloudy days
Shining and shining, shining through
All the love that I feel for you
I wish you would stay mine until the end
Yo, whats love got to do (so deep, my love is going deeper)
With us two
Like, not stop shining
When I raise the roof
When I blink without you (deeper, deeper in you)
its true, baby you think I'm
a fool and if you'd stop buggin me
I bust my rhymes, but I'm (my love is going deeper)
upset anyway, can't play
Believe me too, and that's
what love's got to do with us two
For the sun will shine, a new day will come
Our love will keep on flowing
Flowing and flowing, flowing through
The love I'll always feel for you
I wish you would stay mine
Until the end of time
'Til the end of time
Only for you until the end.

Lyrics:
Leave
I'm not gonna stop you (stop you)
But before you go
Hurt me so I can't forget you
Say it wasn't love
Say I was a fool
Anything to tear me apart
Why do you care?
Why do you smile?
Why are you holding me now?
Kiss kiss kiss
Kissing you one more time before
You walk out that door
Wishing behind these lips oh baby please stay (please stay)
Now you know I'm me
Looking down the street
Thought I could handle this moment
But your love was good
So so so good
And it's too much to lose
Miss miss miss
Missing you as you turn around
Walking out that door
My heart is crying out oh baby don't go (don't go)

English Translation:
A lullaby
The childishness of this child
The hands that grasps the ring fingers are both a weal and a woe
Solemnly, I light up the paper lantern that was the love that you left behind
And wets the dark night
I made a prayer to sound of the rain
Where both me and the child are blended together
Both the falling flowers and the scattered tears withered
A few years from there, the little happiness that you left behind
And while you fasten her hair night after night
You hum the lullaby yourself for this child
Your four limbs start to wander
The smoke flowed from the abandoned factory
Of the old black and white cinema and enveloped this child
The right hand, left hand, legs, neck and the heartbeat
Hugging tightly, this sobbing child
Help Help Help Help
The fox blockade seized the good good child
That crawls around wearing a broken cloth
Run Run Run Run
*sound of crying*
*sound of crying* Only this child, appears to be not disappearing
This ear, nose, eye, mouth, one thread of hair, no one can do them in
Hiding completely, until this child becomes seven
Until your carp streamer rises up into the sky, please
The wind of happiness seems to blow towards this child
Ah, this child will probably replace you when he becomes bigger
The child resembled you in every way, even those eyes with sadness
Only the carp streamers that swim in the sky have known about this
This child, if observed carefully, is a doll

out for a particularly nasty stream with jumps all over it about two-thirds

BPM: 85-340
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 3
BAS: 5 4
DIF: 8 8
EXP: 10 10
Play Notes: The first half of this song is at a steady 170. About halfway
through, once the percussion breaks, it drops to 85. Several measures
in, the percussion kicks back up double-time, and song speeds up to 340
for a while before dropping back down to 170 for the end.
Expert Notes: The true terror of this chart is the 340 section, but I'm
getting ahead of myself. To start with, you have lots of freeze arrows
with a few eighths thrown in. Once the percussion starts up proper, the
order of the day is streams at varying lengths and step patterns, including
taps and crossovers, and several jumps in them as well. Sixteenth clusters
are also lightly spread through that area. At the tempo drop, you get a
respite, as the sixteenths are rare. At 340, it's streams again of varying
lengths and complexity, as well as jumps close to each other, which is
pretty darn hard at that tempo. Once you're past that area, you're pretty
much out of the woods to the end.

7A. Fascination -eternal love mix- =
====================================
UNLOCK: Mission (E-07)
Artist: 2MB
Genre: SuperNOVA Beat
BPM: 100-400
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 4
BAS: 9 9
DIF: 9 9
EXP:10 10
CHA:10 10
Play Notes: The song starts at 100 for a few seconds, then a short stop, then
it proceeds at 200 for about ten seconds, then it kicks to 400. After ten
seconds of that, 200, then 400 after five seconds for just a second, then
back to 200, where there are several short stops as it follows the rhythm.
After about twenty seconds of that, it goes to 400 for nearly thirty
seconds, then 200 for about ten seconds, then 400 for fifteen seconds, then
finally a stop at the end.
Expert Notes: It's almost not even worth saying how much of a mess this step-
chart is, but I'll try anyway. Generally, in 100 BPM sections, you'll find
sixteenths, in 200 BPM sections, lots of eighths, and in the 400 BPM
sections, usually straight quarters, but some gallops. In the last two 400
sections will have eighths in them.
Challenge Notes: It seems a bit easier at first, but man, it's a WHOLE LOT
harder. On paper, it doesn't look like that much bigger of a deal; a few
more streams in the 400 sections to complicate things. The problem, and what
pretty much makes this the new official "hardest" chart in DDR history, is
all the jumps that are thrown into the 400 section. Just... don't hurt
yourself.

BPM: 75-274
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 3
BAS: 6 5
DIF: 7 7
EXP: 9 9
CHA:10 10
Play Notes: The song starts at 274, then quickly drops to 1/4 of that, then
shortly goes to half-speed, then full-speed for quite a while, until a
part about two-thirds through that drops once again to 1/4th speed, which
then slooowly builds back up to 274 to the end.
Expert Notes: The song for the first half is largely short streams at this
blistering tempo. There are no real tricks to it. Just follow the rhythm
and keep up. The real terror of this chart is at the end, where a very
long and super-crossover stream will make life miserable.
Challenge Notes: The big problem with this is a large amount of air has been
stacked onto this chart. It is HEAVY on the middle section, but the end
of the chart seems to be untouched.

BPM: 75-300
Difficulty:
Sgl Dbl
BEG: 3
BAS: 7 7
DIF: 8 9
EXP: 9 10
CHA:10 10
Play Notes: This song starts at a brisk 300, then slows down to 75 about
halfway through. After a few measures of that, it goes to 150 for some
time, then 300 to the end.
Expert Notes: Uh, yeah. This is definitely a ten. At least that. The
speed and the large number of jumps are your biggest enemy, here. The
streams themselves aren't all that complicated. Watch in the slow parts,
where gallops and triplets are the order of the day. The end has slightly
more complicated streams and plenty of jumps.
Challenge Notes: Well, it starts out not that much harder. In fact, it
starts out a bit easier, because the jumps have been cut back to make way
for longer streams. Of course, you know you're in for trouble once the
streams start ending in jumps. At that point, it's all downhill. Once
you hit the slowdown (where most hard songs give you a break), you get a
nice "bag"-like mess of clustered steps, then at the halfway speed-up,
you get triplet steps, some of which are taps, and some which are jumps. At
the last speed-up, it's one big long stream almost all the way to the end,
and with a few jumps in. Soooo, it's a bit of a fight between this and
Felm Challenge of which is harder, and I think it all depends on if you
think jumps are harder than long streams.

Play Notes: There is a quick slowdown about three-quarters of the way
through the song, but it's ALMOST not worth mentioning.
Expert Notes: Two big things here. Small clusters of sixteenths, which are
everywhere once the latter half starts going, and air, which is also
everywhere, particularly in the latter half. Sandwich these together and
you've got a nasty chart.
Challenge Notes: It seems a lot of the air has been put aside in lieu of a
lot more small sixteenth clusters. In the end, this isn't TOO much harder
than the Expert chart, particularly if you prefer streams over air.

8. HYPER MASTER MODE
******************************************************************************
This is the new Mission Mode for this game. In short, you need to complete
missions in order to progress and unlock songs. The mode has been stripped
down for this mix. Instead of Joints, Trials and Showdowns, you simply
have Areas, which have a series of Missions in each one. Furthermore,
you're only required to beat one Mission each Area (the Boss Mission) to
move on. Skipping Missions, however, means missing out on Modules which
could help you progress through the Missions, or hinder you to improve your
score. Also, you should complete Missions with new songs, because those
songs will then be available for purchase in the Shop.
---
Custom Modules
New to this game is the concept of Modules. You play this mode with a
stripped-down Konsento character, and you can equip Modules on him to change
his appearance and the gameplay experience. You get Modules by earning score
through Hyper Master Mode and beating certain missions, and have to buy them
through the Shop before you can equip them. There are three types of
Modules in the game:
Supportive Modules: Makes life easier for you as you play. Using these will
lower your score, but at least you can pass the missions. You can equip up
to four of these on your character.
Challenge Modules: Makes life harder for you as you play. Using them will
give you a secondary Hyper Score. You can equip up to two of these on your
character.
Other Modules: These are basically modules that don't really help or hinder
you all that much, usually meaning a cosmetic change. They're applied as
Supportive Modules, though, so you're sacrificing one of those spots to
put one on.
There are three ways you're scored in this mode, from what I can see:
Normal Score: This is the same basic score you always get, calculated the
normal way. It's used when the challenge is to get a certain score.
Hyper Score: Any time you use a Challenge Module, this will also be
calculated. To be honest, I don't know the algorithm for the number here,
but some have observed that you seem to get a higher Hyper Score the more
MARVELOUS you get. Also, if you have a score challenge, apparently, this
score is ALSO looked at, so if you don't have enough in your normal score,
but enough to beat the mission in your Hyper Score, apparently, you'll pass.
Blue/Gold Bar: This is, one would think, your "ranking" on the mission
itself. The better you are at a mission, the higher this bar ends up. For
instance, if you barely pass a mission, you'll get all blue and one gold bar.
If you AAA a mission that doesn't even have close to that requirement, you'll
get a full gold bar. Using Supportive Modules means that you won't get any
gold bars, and you'll be ranked instead as blue bars. Each mission is
different in how it ranks, and I don't really know the formula, but that's a
good basic outline.

9. ADVANCED MODE
******************************************************************************
These are the more difficult modes of play. At the outset, only "Course" and
"Battle" are available to you, and you'll need to unlock the other options
through Hyper Master Mode.
=================
9A. Course Mode =
=================
This is a combination of the old Nonstop and Oni modes of play. You begin by
selecting your style and character. After that, you select the "Meter":
Normal: Standard Dance Meter. This is the "Nonstop" play, where you just go
through the songs all at once.
Challenge: Battery Dance Meter. Step anything but a MARVELOUS, PERFECT,
GREAT, or OK and you lose one of your four lives. Lose all four and it's
game over. After passing a song, you gain back all lives you lost. This is
the "Oni" style of play.
After that, you'll select your course. There is only one difficulty for each
course (as opposed to two in previous games), and you can select options for
the course as well, if the course allows it. Scoring is done in a similar
manner to normal.
At the end of your play, your score is ranked next to the maximum possible
score. If playing on "Normal" meter, you'll be letter-graded as normal. If
playing on "Challenge" meter, you get a percentage-based score.
Also available is a "Create Your Own Course". You may create ten of your
own courses using the "ORDER" slots. They all start at RANDOM and four songs
long on Standard, but you can change any of these attributes, including
options in each of the songs.

=================
9B. Battle Mode =
=================
This is a new cool two-player mode where you go up against either a human or
computer opponent and play songs. While you play, you build up an "attack"
meter. Once that's full, an "attack" is unleashed on your opponent.
These attacks include (but are not limited to) turning on any of the Song
Options (speed multipliers, Hidden, Sudden, Dark, etc.), moving arrows to
different spots on the Judgment Panel, lowering arrows on the Judgement Panel.
Also, "Shuffle" is automatically turned on, and each player plays a different
type of stepchart, so you can't just watch the other player's display if your
chart gets too hard to read.
The person with the highest score at the end of the song is the winner, natch.
==================
9C. Endless Mode =
==================
To unlock this mode, you must purchase all locked songs from the Shop.
The object of this mode is to play for as long as possible on a standard Dance
Meter.
You'll begin by selecting your style. Only Single and Double plays are
available for this mode. After that, you'll make your Endless Settings:
Step: Select your difficulty - Beginner, Light, Standard, Heavy, or Random.
Break Stage: Set a break stage after a certain number of songs.
Select Options: Pick your step options as you would in normal play.
Music Program: Set your program of songs that you wish to play, if you wish
to only include or disclude particular songs.
===================
9D. Survival Mode =
===================
To unlock this mode, you must purchase all locked songs from the Shop.
This mode is similar to Endless Mode, only instead of a Dance Meter, you have
a Challenge Meter with four lives. You'll still be able to select style
(Single or Double) and your difficulty (Beginner, Light, Standard, Heavy,
or All).
So, just ignore that gigantic clock in the middle of the screen.
==========================
9E. Combo Challenge Mode =
==========================
To unlock this mode, you must purchase all locked songs from the Shop.
This mode is similar to Endless Mode, only instead of a Dance Meter, you have
to keep a combo running. As soon as you break combo, the game's over. You'll
still be able to select style (Single or Double) and your difficulty
(Beginner, Light, Standard, Heavy, or All).
And, for your reference, you have a gigantic combo meter in the center of the
screen.
******************************************************************************
10. OTHER MODES
******************************************************************************
Here are the rest of the game modes.
===================
10A. Workout Mode =
===================
This mode allows you to observe the calories melting away as you dance.
---
Workout Setting
Weight: Set this and the amount of calories burned will be slightly changed
to reflect your weight.
Menu: Set to "Play Time" to play a specific amount of time. Set to "Calories
Burned" and you'll play until you reach that number of calories. Set to
"Program" and you can set your own workout course (like a Nonstop). "No
Setting" will let you have no restrictions.
Goal: Set to minutes if "Play Time" is on Menu, and to a calorie amount if
"Calories Burned is on Menu.
Workout Step: With this on, the steps will be set to "Little".
Simultaneous Step: Turning this off will remove jumps.
Program: Select Free to have the normal song list, or Course to access some
preset courses the game gives you, or courses you can order yourself.
---
Workout Results
After every song (or at the end of your program), you'll see a Workout Results
screen where you can see your calorie-related results. Press Circle to see
them charted in relation to other day's workouts.
====================
10B. Training Mode =
====================
Select this to pick songs and tackle them on your own terms. Start by
selecting a song, then you'll go to the menu screen, where you can select the
mode (Single, Versus, Double), its difficulty, any song options you want (as
detailed in the How To Dance section far above), and you may put in any Edit
Data you wish.
In addition (unlike other modes of gameplay), you can set Assist, which
allows you to play with any combination of the music, a metronome (which
marks standard quarter note beats), and a handclap (which claps whenever
there's an arrow).
Also, you can set the "Music Speed". Unlike the song option called Speed,
this actually changes how fast the song goes. It's good for taking fast
songs at speeds you can manage. Adjusting this to a lower amount will
automatically turn off the music, so you'll need to set the metronome or
handclap on if you want something in the background.
Finally, you can set what measure the song begins and ends. The "Start"
function below it will allow you to quickly change between the measures you
select and the whole song.
================
10C. Edit Mode =
================
Well, I'm not gonna go through all the possibilities that Edit Mode offers
here. Honestly, if you're serious about Editing, you'll probably know to
read the instructions on this one. Seriously, there's too much info about it
for me to justify making a section for it.
==================
10D. Online Mode =
==================
Hey, y'know what? My PS2 still isn't online, and to be honest, I don't think
it ever will be, so everyone have fun playing online. I never really liked
the idea to begin with, but that's just me. To my knowledge, there are NO
extra songs online this time.
******************************************************************************
11. SHOP
******************************************************************************
Okay. EVERYTHING unlockable in this game has to come through here. It's not
enough just to trigger the unlock. You'll need the requisite number of
Shop Points to actually be able to use it.
=========================
11A. Shop Point Formula =
=========================
Okay, every song you play starts you with a base amount of Shop Points. How
you step changes the amount of points you have, and when you finish the song,
the Shop Points you've earned are put into your main "account". While you
can be reduced to 0 points in a song, you can never reduce the amount in
your account just through play.
How many points you start with and can earn are based on the step difficulty
you choose, and the foot rating difficulty.

Course
All courses give a set amount of points for each song you play, which doesn't
change no matter how well or poorly you do. You earn those points for each
song you pass, even if you don't complete the entire course.
Normal Dance Meter: 800 per song
Challenge Meter: 1000 per song
============
11B. Songs =
============
To get a song in the Shop, simply play and beat any mission that features the
song, then buy it. It's that easy. If that's too complicated for you,
songs can be unlocked just through playing songs in Game Mode.

11G. Custom Mod =
=================
Some of these modules have numbers attached. For most of them, unless
otherwise noted, this means that a higher number will have a greater effect.
For instance, for Assist Health, a higher number means that the dance meter
will go up even faster than a lower number.
NOTE: I don't yet know what all these things do. I'll have to investigate
to see their exact properties, but it will take time. If anyone has any
insight, feel free to offer it.
NOTE #2: There apparently is a pattern to these unlocks, done through Hyper
Master Mode. Kainync has been nice enough to catalog these as they happen,
so I'll put them up. The unlocks are based on how many Missions you attempt.
Repeated attempts do count. I'm not sure how correct all these are, but it
does give you the general pattern. If anyone has anything more concrete, let
me know, but don't just say "Oh, I had this earlier," because that really
doesn't help.

This FAQ was made 100% by me, and is Copyright © 2007 Scott "CyricZ"
Zdankiewicz. You may not take it in whole or in part and claim it as your
own. You may not alter it in any way, even if you ask me first, and that
includes putting it in HTML format. Please don’t post this on your site
unless you have express consent by me. I’ve put a lot of time into this.
Give me some credit.

I'm not going to allow people with small personal sites to post this FAQ.
They may post the link on GameFAQs with all the DDRSN2 guides, but, trying to
keep updates, well, updated, I'll only allow large committed sites that I
trust.

12B. E-mail Guidelines =
========================
If you wish to e-mail me, be sure to follow these guidelines:
- Make ABSOLUTELY sure I haven't already answered your question in the guide.
- Make sure it has something to do with DDR SuperNOVA 2. I don't want spam,
chain letters, offers for friendship. Don't bother me with info on other DDR
games, really. I keep my ear pretty close to the ground about such things,
and I'll probably know about it before you. Compliment me on the FAQ all you
want, though.
- Make sure you say "DDR SuperNOVA 2" at one point in your e-mail. I have more
than one DDR FAQ, and I can't always figure the question out without
specifying what game you're asking about.
- Asking how to beat a song will result in a deletion. There really are no
tips to offer for DDR'ing besides what I have in my section. It has to come
from your own skill and desire to pass.
- Spell correctly and use proper grammar, please. If I can't understand
your e-mail, it'll go to the junk pile.

12D. Version Updates =
======================
Version 0.7 - (10/3/07) - Hyper Master Mode Single is complete, as well as a
lot of song info. Expert and Play Notes are pretty spotty, though.
Version 1.0 - (10/6/07) - Made some corrections to difficulties, added the
rest of the Expert Notes. Input all the courses and cleaned up the
shop area. Next step will be Hyper Master Double. First, I think I'll
move on to my Hottest Party FAQ for a while. Don't feel snubbed, please.
Version 1.1 - (11/4/07) - Made a bunch of corrections to HMM thanks to
submissions, and updated Artist info based on info on the official site. No
one seems to be lighting the fire under me for HMM Double, so I won't rush.
Version 1.2 - (11/30/07) - Thanks to Brigham, we have HMM Double, as well as
a few scattered notes on the concepts of Hyper Score and the blue and gold
bars in HMM.

12E. The Final Word =
=====================
Well, we're starting to clean up all the songs we've missed over the years.
It's possible that one day we'll be playing the exact same mix as the JP
release, but I doubt it. >_>
Oh, and anyone from Konami who saw this blurb on my last guide and saw my
beef that Info Mode was taken out of SN1, thanks for putting it back in. ^_^
Take care and happy dancing!
