1.C Notes
=========

In the Super Robot Wars Alpha series, you are able to control your
main character's seishin set by changing your birthday and blood type.
It's a Japanese cultural thing.
Each of the 4 main characters in the game has his own list of seishin sets.

Seishins are named based off a wierd mixture of Atlus OG versions,
Fencedude version and my own creations.

So you should probably refer to this list often in case you get mixed up.

Column 1:
Valor: Self. Next attack does double damage
Soul: Self. Next attack does 2.5 times damage
Morale: Squad. Guaranteed critical attack. Doesn't stack with Valor or Soul
Sense: Self. Casts Strike and Alert
Alert: Self. Next attack will be dodged
Invincible: Self. Next time you get hit, take 10 damage
Guard: Self. Take quarter damage from all attacks that hit over the next turn

Column 2:
Focus: Self. Hit and Evade rates increased by 30%
Strike: Self. 100% chance to hit for an entire turn
Attune: Any Ally. Casts Strike on a single ally
Accel: Squad. Increases squad movement rate by 3
Zeal: Squad. Act again after attacking.
Vigor: Self. Restore 30% of your HP
Guts: Self. Restore 100% of your HP

Colume 3:

Trust: Any Ally. Replenish 2000 of an ally's HP
Friendship: Ally Squad. Restore HP to all units in a squad.
Bonds: All Allies. All units regain 50% of their HP
Renew: Any Ally. Restores all EN and Ammo
Hope: Any Ally. Restore 50 SP
Spirit: Self. Gain 10 Will
Drive: Self. Gain 30 Will

Column 4

Rouse: Squad. All pilots gain 5 Will
Passion: Self. Gain 10,000 Song Energy
Mercy: Self. Fatal attack will leave an enemy with 10 HP
Snipe: Self. All weapons other than MAP and range 1 gain 2 range
Fury: Self. Next attack ignores defensive barriers and support
Scan: Enemy Squad. View enemy stats.
Exhaust: Enemy Squad. Reduces enemy Will by 10

Disturbance: All Enemies. All enemy hit rates reduced by half for next turn
Love: Self. Casts Valor, Accel, Strike, Alert, Gain and Luck

Notes:
Classic Super Robot pilot stuff, but the more offensive Seishins such as Accel,
and Fury tend to show up in his Seishin sets. One quirk is that he gets Guts
once in a while for a rather cheap price, which makes any other defensive
Seishin in the same set seem quite silly in comparison.

Common trends in his Seishin sets involve having either Strike or Sense as his
first Seishin (with Strike being more common) and having Courage as the last.
Since Strike costs 20 and Sense costs 5 more with an additional Alert effect,
I would rather prefer the latter.

Touma doesn't have a huge variety of Seishin in his pool, so if you're going
to change his commands, it's usually because you want to try to get him some
of the stronger defensive Seishins. You might also add for Drive which will
help him gain Morale for his more powerful attacks faster.

Notables:
Default Birthday - Zeal for 70 is actually quite cheap cost for said Seishin.
On the other hand, unlike Kusuha who has Bullet as a subpilot and Cobray's
SP Regen, Touma doesn't have any of those and his Seishins are expensive
overall so...

11/11 B - Probably self-explanatory.

Cancer B - It has Exhaust, but it also has Luck as a wasted slot.

Leo B - Has Drive for 50, but a wasted slot in Gain.

Virgo B - Another Drive set, nothing really bad here but consider Libra A
instead though.

Libra A - Has Drive, Guard for 25 and Fury for misc uses.

Libra O - Technically it's a set with Zeal but it seems strictly inferior
to the default birthday.

Scorpio B - Has Guts at level 2 for 20, which is early and cheap but not the
earliest or cheapest.

Sagittarius A - Has Drive, but also a wasted slot in Gain.

Sagittarius B - Has an early Luck at 35 if you want it, and also Guard at 25.

Sagittarius O - It has Morale which is... rare. But it's not the sort of
Seishin you want on your main.

Capricorn A - Has Drive AND cheap Guts.

Capricorn AB - It's like default, except you trade Zeal for an early Luck.

Pisces B - If you absolutely need a cheap Guts at level 1, there you go.
Nothing outstanding here otherwise..

Aquarius O - What's up with Touma and inferior Zeal sets?

Pisces O - With both Exhaust and Fury here, this is definitely as
supportive as Touma will get.

Notes:
Other than Super Robot type seishins, Kusuha has a lot of supportive Seishins
available in her list, such as Attune (usually the first seishin, sometimes
replaced by Sense), Bless, Renew and Bonds! She's one of the better characters
for changing birthdays due to her varied Seishin pool.

Common trends in her Seishin sets involve having either Attune or Sense as her
first Seishin (with Attune being more common) and having Love as the last. Sense
is probably better early in the game for boss-fighting, but Bullet has it once
he joins as sub-pilot, while Attune is an overall rare Seishin, but most pilots
who are meant to fight already come with Strike... you decide!

Because you get Bullet as a sub-pilot later in the game, you can try to take
advantage of this by giving her expensive support Seishins such as Zeal, but
there's still about 30 missions before that happens so try to make sure you
have at least some good seishins for when she is alone.

Bullet's seishin are:

[25] Valor (35), [34] Drive (45), [43] Fury (30)

Notables:
Aries B - Has Bless and Guard at normal prices, Bless being the 2nd Seishin
that she learns. Has Sense instead of Attune as 1st Seishin.

Taurus B - Has Renew at 55 SP, which is slightly cheaper and is helpful. It's
helpful for abusing the SRX's MAP attack or Kusuha's unit ammo-based attacks
(such as the MAP attack.)

Taurus O - Has slightly cheaper than usual Guard (not counting 11/11 of course.)
Trades Attune for Sense.

Gemini AB - Gets Bless very early for a decent cost. I guess Snipe would also
be one of the Seishins that don't appear much on Kusuha, but I don't find it
particularly useful... it might come in useful once in a while though.
Alert comes in pretty late as the 4th Seishin so making her survive without
upgrades may be a bit of a challenge...

Leo B - Another set with Bless trading for Bonds, otherwise fairly basic set.

Virgo B - Yup, you guessed it, it has Bless. Having both Invincible and Guard
feels rather overkill though, and it loses Spirit (not a problem after Bullet
becomes a sub-pilot, still...)

Libra A - Has Zeal! And a rather early Spirit (level 3, 2nd Seishin).

Libra B - Yeah, you got it, it's a Bless set. This one has Bless as its 4th
Seishin though.

Libra AB - Wow, this one has 2 unique Seishins, Cheer and Rouse! Of course,
Keith has Cheer for 15 SP and Rouse is one of the Seishins I would rather
have on my support pilots to boost up my mains rather than the other way.

Scorpio B - Compared to Taurus B, it trades Alert for Invincible and has Renew
for 5 SP more... on the other hand, you do get the Seishins earlier than usual
level-wise.

Scorpio O - The most striking thing about this set is that it gets Love at 13!
Of course it doesn't get a discount in SP cost so it's usability at that point
of time is questionable. Accelerate is also kind of a wasted slot IMO. Even so,
this set learns all of it's Seishins at level 26 so if you just want to get
all 6 Seishins ASAP this is the set for you.

Sagittarius B - Has Cheer, rather standard otherwise.

Sagittarius AB - Has Renew, rather standard otherwise.

Capricorn AB - Well, let's get it out of the way, Luck is a waste of a slot.
On to the good parts. It has Zeal AND Hot Blood at a whooping 25 SP. That's
even less than what you would get using the 11/11 Birthday, and that birthday
doesn't have Zeal. Unfortunately it doesn't have Spirit but Bullet does.

Capricorn O - Apparently it has Cheer at a whooping 40 SP cost. Hahaha, let
us laugh heartily at such a joke.

Aquarius AB - Has Bless, rather standard yadda yadda.

Pisces AB - Has Renew, standard disclaimer.

Pisces O - Has 3 Seishins at level 1, although Sense and Alert kinda overlaps
in their functionality a little.

11/11 -  Other than Bonds, it's almost functionally the same, except with
superior Seishins for the most part such as Drive instead of Spirit and

Notes:
Something to note is that Cobray is the only main character with SP Regen. This
is one of the best skills in the game and makes his cheaper Seishins quite
spammable and letting him use his expensive ones more often.

Notable:
Default Birthday - Has Zeal and a slightly cheaper Sense, which is always nice.
Other than Accelerate which I feel is better on a support character, it's a
really solid Seishin set overall.

Marsdragon Opinion:

Cobray will always have a 15 SP Focus as his first spirit, 40 SP Valor as his
fourth (except for Pisces A), and 60 SP Soul as his last. He also tends to get
Spirit, Accel, or Fury a lot, and generally has Invincible or Alert in there
somewhere. Cobray has SP Regen, so expensive spirits aren't quite as
burdensome on him as they are on, say, Touma.
Managing both Soul and Zeal is still a bit tricky, though.

Worth noting:

Taurus O - Has Guard early, which isn't too needed on Cobray. Even better, it
has Snipe for 60 SP, a full twice what it usually costs. The fact Cobray has
birthdays that get it for 20 SP is just icing on the cake. It's also my sign
and blood type. I hate you, Banpresto.

Leo AB - The second cheapest Accel Cobray can get, it's pretty generic
otherwise. I don't use Morale too much, but someone might find it useful.

Virgo A - Has the cheapest Accel Cobray can get, at a grand 10 SP.
You can spam that and Invincible all day. Spirit is a bit of a waste once
you get the Sound Force, but the rest of this is very solid.

Sagittarius B - Has Sense for 10 SP, which is a great deal.

Aquarius A - Aquarius is the cruel joke Cobray sign.
A, for instance, has Spirit twice.

Aquarius O - Has Alert as the second spirit...for 45 SP.

Selena has a decent mix in her list, although not as varied as Kusuha's
Overall you can still get decent results out of changing her birthday.

She always starts with Focus as her first Seishin and Soul as her last.
Disturbance is a Seishin that is unique to her out of all the main characters,
although her sub-pilot also has said Seishin at a cheaper cost.

Selena also has a sub-pilot available to her, thus increasing her pool with
mostly useful support Seishin. Just like with Bullet, this allows you some
leeway with choosing your Seishin set.

Elma's Seishins are...

[10] Disturbance (40), [26] Fury (30), [46] Renew (60)

Notables:
11/11 B - You give up Fury, but gain Attune, which also doubles to give her
access to Strike, and a cheap Valor/Soul. You also gain Love which is otherwise
impossible for Reals. Unfortunately, you also lose Drive, which is quite useful.
Still, the maximum Morale that Selena needs is 120 so it's not that huge a loss.

Aries A - Luck for... 18 SP? Well, that's certainly an odd number...

Aries O - Has a cheaper Invincible which can combine with Sense to create
a nice defensive combo. Also has Disturbance.

Taurus A -  Has Exhaust.

Taurus AB -  It has Zeal and a slightly cheaper Accelerate if you need it.

Taurus O - Another Exhaust set but with a worthlessly expensive Fury

Gemini O - Has Guard... for some reason. The early Sense is also notable.

Gemini AB - Another Zeal set. Having both Alert and Sense
does feel kinda wasteful here.

Gemini O - Cheap, early Luck... and again, an expensive Fury.

Cancer A - Early Sense and trades Disturbance for Fury.
Also trades Drive for Spirit unfortunately.

Cancer O - This has Zeal but unless you really need Strike and
Alert seperately for some reason, go for other Zeal sets instead.

Leo AB - Whoa, Exhaust, Sense AND Zeal all in one set! Now the
question is of course, where to get the SP to use all those skills
but hey if you can always saddle a chump in your squad with
SP restoration items I suppose.

Marsdragon opinion:

Selena is like Cobray, Focus first, Valor fourth, Soul last.
She tends to get Invincible less and Disturbance more, along with Daunt and
Fury. Unfortunately, her subpilot has Disturbance, Focus,
and Fury, making any Selena set with those a bit redundant.
The guide I translated this out of recommended letting Elma handle the Focus
casting, and I agree. Selena doesn't get any massive discounts anywhere,
but if you look around you can sometimes knock a few SP off.

Virgo AB - Gets Zeal early! Now you just have to find the SP to cast it.
Also has Daunt and doesn't overlap with Elma. This is a pretty good set.

Libra A - Has Zeal, but Sense makes Alert rather obsolete.

Libra AB - Alert for 20 SP, along with Fury and Disturbance.
Not really worth getting.

Scorpio AB - Has Zeal and Sense. Spirit feels a bit wasted, though.

is better though, I mean, 10 SP Concentrate isn't as good as 10 SP Guard!
