What’s New!?                                                                                              #NEW

19-06-2003: Today is when I sudden got nuts and started this FAQ ^^u

20-06-2003: Just minor updates on the VRs

22-06-2003: Psychotic up-to-date FAQ ready! Now I just need the remaining VR requirements and special attacks!!

23-06-2003: Just realized how stupid of me to forget that Marz doesn't have any crouching CCs...some updates on
           weaponries. Will try to get the other VR requirements, and the CC attack section for the VRs. Stay
           tuned for more!

24-06-2003: Added some more minor updates on opponents and episode guide.

25-06-2003: Updated the special attack for Bal Series and 747HII Temjins, and added a VR CC List (Not complete
           though..), and a BGM listing. A Small Q&A Section is up.

26-06-2003: Officially considered this FAQ as version 1.5...now i just need to fill out the CC section and the
           unlocking requirements for the remaining VRs.

30-06-2003: Completed the VR Close Combat Section and revamped the game screens. Also added the stage list for
           Challenge and VS mode, updated the VRs' unlock requirements, added a links section, and a rank guide.

01-07-2003: Minor updates on Bal's Special and Apharmd TF(AC), as well as the opponent's section. Cleaned up the
           faq a little, added "The Good, The Bad & The Ugly on all VRs, and their more detailed moves. Mega
           ASCII fever here...

02-07-2003: I made a separate file for the VRs...phew...it's too big!

05-07-2003: Created keys for easier searching in this "jungle". Use Ctrl+F and enter the keys to find the topic
           you want to go to. Also some updates on enemies section. Now starting on mission guides.

06-07-2003: Done with the mission guides; you're not going to believe that i'd actually drawn the map of the Mars
           Polar area missile launch site! What's left to do is the official story and mission briefings, which
           both will only be obtainable in November, after the US release of VO:MARZ. Well, unless i could think
           of something to add, this faq doesn't need any extra big updates. You may want to check out the VR
           Guides in the In-depth guides section.

12-07-2003: Corrected the names of Milton & Stradtos into MLTN & STRTS (That's how they're spelt in the official
           page) They're still read as Milton & Stradtos though...

14-07-2003: Added the opponents list for challenge mode, but will reconfirmed it for it's on random.

15-07-2003: Completed the BGM listing.

27-07-2003: Deleted the ASCII arts because i feel they're unnecessary...Added the cheats for Code Breaker and Pro
           Action Replay...Now you can play as the bosses!!

21-08-2003: Reformat the whole faq to 115 Columns wide (excluding the ASCII title). Updated the infos on the ranks.
           (Thanks to Eizaz for the proof-readings~)

25-08-2003: Added the keys for Dramatic Mode's episodes, added some minor infos on Dymn Chaos Missions

04-09-2003: After making this FAQ for almost a month, I finally realized what I'd missed...the mission rankings!!
           Some thanx to Eizaz, for his latest update reminds me of that....

07-09-2003: Redo the index (there, it's less cramped, rite?). Added some previous stories like what the Konami
           guys did for MGS and ZOE2. Also includes in this latest update is the ADV, located in the Techinques
           section. Some extra notes on the opponents, some other minor infos. Just unlocked the Red color
           scheme for Hatter ^^.

05-11-2003: Miss me? I've finally copied down almost everything in the US briefings and story tellings, so I've
           decided that it's time to update my faq yet again, with the US version updates. Some new briefings
           aren't done yet; I'm still checking the difference betwwen going the earth after the moon, and vice
           versa. Not to forget the rest of the stuffs in the Dymn Chaos missions.

Guara-guara-guara-guara-guara-booyakha~!

This is my first time writing a FAQ, on my really, really favourite game of all times, Virtual-On...I’ve been on
it since the first, VO: Operation Moongate for Sega Saturn and PC, then comes the second, VO: Oratorio Tangram
which is available in the arcades and the Sega Dreamcast (extinct....R.I.P). Then comes VO: Force, which we don’t
have anywhere outside Japan. Now, the turning point, Marz for PS2.

No idea with Sega’s change of style, but I’ll be glad if newer sequels is coming also for PS2. Favourite VR in OT
is Cypher, while for Marz it's the 747a8 Temjin (For power) and Myzr Delta "Fair Bianca" (For the design) Bear
with it guys, I’m not sure if I’m good in writing FAQs, so don’t complaint! ^^u

The Virtual Century has begun.
Earth as we know it today is different in the world of Virtual On; the Virtual Century, year 0084. The world is
under new management. It is the age of economic feudalism. Governments have been privatized, and now throb on
economic development and set their highest goals towards gaining more money than the competition while
multinational conglomerates have carved the world into enterprise zones and sprawling business entities stretch
their tentacles into every sector of public and private life.

V.C. 0084
The delicate balance of power maintained by the rival trade consortiums was thrown awry when a lunar-core mining
survey commissioned by the DN. Group uncovered an extensive ruined outpost of incredible complexity and
indeterminate age beneath the desolated surface of earth’s moon.

The DN. Group appropriated esoteric machinery from the lunar ruins and implemented a revolutionary R&D program
under the tightest security blanket----OT [Over Technology] system. Years of secret research culminated in the
development and release of a new line of security-directed combat droids with battleground precision and attack
capabilities far beyond any mechanized warriors produced by the competition.

OT system gave DN. Group a total monopoly cementing its dominance of the world’s economy. But, more disturbingly
the Internat security programs of the lunar base were accidentally re-armed by DN. Group technicians unleashing
virtual-pandemonium on the surface of the moon. “Operation Moongate” was initiated to shut down the base before
the chaos could extend to earth...

V.C. 00 a. 0 (Present Day)
The battle for control of the moon is underway; with OT systems combat machines arrayed against the formidable
remnants of the lunar complex defense forces. The DN Group forces have numerical superiority, but are being
tactically outclassed by the experienced droids defending the base. In a desperate effort to recruit virtual
pilots, the DN Military Support Division has opened a Test and Training program designed to cultivate maximum
combat skills in the shortest possible time. As one of thousands of test candidates, you must prove yourself in
simulation warfare against increasingly powerful DN test droids before qualifying for the MINDSHIFT into real-time
combat in the lunar theatre.

On Earth, during Virtual Century (V.C.)
This story tells the tales of humanoid fighting machines dubbed Virtuaroids (VRs) and those who fought around,
with and against them.

V.C. 00a2
The mid point between the two great events in history: Operation Moon Gate (V.C. 00a0) and ORATORIO TANGRAM
(V.C.00a4). The special 'limited warfare' are rife. On what was left of a continent once called Australia - Terra
Australis Incognita (T.A.I), the only military organization who officially own VRs, DNA, met the mysterious VR
forces of RNA. A series of wars erupted between the two. VRs fought against other VRs to the death. VR themselves
shined as a great weapon during this war. The very reason of existence of the tactical weapon [VR], which has
always been doubt, resolved itself. On the other hand, the history of the Earth Bloc was facing a new dawn.

"Moon Gate's awakening was an unnatural happening, a gigantic farce."

Using the DNA company, O.M.G. (Operation Moon Gate) became a weapon of vast destruction, but from the disentangled
DNA; RNA, (a force who were confronting them) gained a sudden increase in power. Both of them claimed right of
ownership to the nine industrial plants from the strong point of their Virtuaroid development.

However, no one saw the signs of their convergence as they fought around the plants. In the year V.C.a4, the
reality was that they were finally approaching the climax of their war. Suddenly however, the nineth plant which
held the main system of the TANGRAM (Space Time Causation Control Mechanism) vanished from the normal space-time
continuum!

Considering that it had the ability to operate the Moon Gate, the loss of this plant was the advent of
catastrophic danger to Earth. The Cybertroopers must search for Tangram! The pilot who is able to discover and
possess the missing nineth plant will certainly be able to seize the initiative in the war's stalemate situation.

Both factions, DNA and RNA posses Virtuaroid cybertroopers. However, every area of their comprehensive
reorganisation has evolved on a scale that has never been seen before! Now the curtain has been ripped down and
the act begins for a new battle!"

Virtual Century: V.C.00a8
The discovery of Mars Crystal changes everything. The once forgotten red planet is the stage where dashing
Virtuaroids stir up the turmoil. The darkness of history awakens, and the stagnant flow being roused. Eventually
the successive confrontations reached a point which they called the "Jupiter Inheritance War".

After then it became an important turning point which determined the destiny of mankind.

In "Force" the appearing VRs are generally known as the 3rd generation VRs. The war at Mars' battle front is
strongly affected by "Mars Crystals" present on Mars.

Since the activity of the V.Converter mounted on the VRs is greatly reduced by the interfering effect of Mars
Crystals, the 2nd generation VRs are unable to achieve full performance.
Therefore, there is a mutual feature among the 3rd generation VRs: the implantation of a limiter circuit to reduce
the influence of the Mars Crystals to a minimum.

[MARZ]                                                                                                    #MARZ
----
Mars...
Abandoned...
Ignored...

Now ravaged by wars fueled by the greed of Cyber Syndicates.
Vast deserts ignite with explosions as the shifting sands of the red planet obscure the blood of the fallen.
But from the distant barren plains, a legend emerges.

Marz.
Special Mechanized Investigation Unit in charge of security in the Martian Zone in the Limited Wars.
The war for peace begins.

Once the greedy corporate executives harnessed the extreme powers of their technological network, towering mechanized
warriors known as Virtuaroids (VRs) quickly replaced the outdated warring methods of the past. The 49-foot
destructive giants drew vast crowds and the conniving power hungry suits soon saw yet another way to exploit the
mindless masses with industrialized combat performances known as Limited War. Mars was redeveloped as the
battleground and hordes of people with an insatiable thirst for widespread destruction and carnage came from all
over to gaze in awe as the battles commenced.

It wasn't long before the corporate climate disintegrated into rampant crime with heated battles over shares in
this profitable new event. A Special Investigations Unit called "MARZ" was developed in an attempt to restore order.
Members of the elite team were given the most superior machines available, rigged with lasers, rockets, and swords.
The MARZ Virtuaroids came to rule the surface of Mars.

Game Review for Jap

IMHO, MARZ is SEGA’s and Hitmaker’s answer to fans all over the world who yell out loud for a console version of
VO: Force, which is only exclusively available in Japanese arcades. And still is.

Marz has improved graphics over the arcade Force, as well as OT. The VRs were rendered in pretty much details and
polygons, and the flashes looks just as good. The only thing that VOOM & VOOT lovers will miss in graphical terms
would be the damaged VR model, which shows the VR in their greyish-black body when enough damage is absorbed to
scrap off their armor; Marz has nice clean VRs up to the end.

Technically, gameplay is exactly the same as VO: Force, with some of its VRs returning as well as some newcomers.
Unlike Force however, Marz's Dramatic mode features a new "repair disc system" which helps you replenish your
energy bar in case you're on your own without a partner to do a rescue dash. The challenge/Vs mode will have
exactly the game rules of Force. SO, if Dramatic mode is too much for you, try Challenge first instead.

The sound part, hm...kinda repeating all over, definitely the same sound effects from previous episodes,
especially the dashing sound (sqweeeee!!) Kinda make you get bored very easy if you listen to the same sound over
and over and over. The BGM though is nice, straight from the VO: Force Marsinal OST and the previous series, and
some new ones for newcomer VRs.

Though I’m kinda disappointed at the speed, which is greatly reduced compared to DC’s VOOT, the 1 Vs. 3 or more
concept is a new approach to the series. Probably this was meant for a more general appeal; Fans of the older
series (VOOM, VOOT) might be very disappointed for the removal of some (Actually, a HELL lots of) complex attacks
like the CC q-step from OT, double jump, left turbo attacks (In OT, there are two turbo buttons, making a total of
9 attack variations for each VRs) and the V. Armor. Players new to the series might find it easier to learn than
the previous series, thanks to the new "AI Assist" control scheme.

Replayability is there for the VR Collection. In Marz, defeating a total number of VRs, collecting a certain
amount of repair disc, travelling certain distance, etc. will unlock a VR for you to use in all game modes.

The loading time, however, is the main drawback for this game. This is most obvious in Dramatic mode, during the
briefing section, where you can't skip the whole thing to get straight into action (but you can speed up the words
by pressing start or the circle button; X button for US). VR selection is also slow.

Perhaps Marz is made as a survey if these changes can bring more new players before they'll make another.

Game Review for NTSC U/C

Now that I'd heard the voice acting in the US version, I must say that they had the quality that is much,
much worse than those found in the original Resident Evil game. Hitmaker managed to pull out some VAs from the
Zone Of The Enders 2 cast, but they seem to lost their interest in their job; they certainly did better in ZOE2.

But, to add to all us VO-fans' frustation, the US version had REMOVE the database, which is the one thing we all WANTED
for the last 3 F***ing months!! GYYAAARRGGGHHH!!

In the US version however, you won't be sure of even going through it the first time, thanks
to Hitmaker's decision to remove the database.

Game review (US):
Graphic:        8/10
Sound:          5/10
Gameplay:       5/10
Replayability:  2/10
Originality:    4/10
Load time:      3/10

Average:        3/10

Overall, Marz is still fun for all to play if they have time to wait for the loading times...but not for the US
version. I think that we should be getting some Japanese Classes to understand the database....GGGRRRR....

C) AI Assisted Type:
This is made for newcomers to the series, with ultra-simplified controls to let players enjoy the game without
being worry of complex button combinations. Why there isn't a guard button here? It's because, guard is automatic;
the AI does it for you when the enemy attacks. (Note: For Bal d Meora, pressing triangle/heavy attack will ejects
the left leg ERL, then the right leg ERL, followed by the left arm ERL and right arm ERL).

============
The Radar:
============
This radar system first appeared in VO: Force (which was actually introduced in VO:OMG beta). This radar is simply
a black-filled box with symbols moving around. It does not pick up the terrain data, but it does tells you which
way your enemy is heading and the location of grabable items.

Green dot------------------------Items (Repair Discs, Data Discs, Boost Items)
Red dot(s)-----------------------Enemy (Inactive or out of attack range)
Red triangle (Empty)-------------Enemy you are currently locked on to.
Red triangle (Filled)------------Enemy not currently locked on by you or your partner.
Red X----------------------------KO'ed opponents (Usually boss characters).
Blue Cross (+)-------------------Yourself.
Blue triangle--------------------Partner.
Blue X---------------------------KO’ed partner.

===========================
Changing Between Targets:
===========================
In Marz, you'll be encountering more than one enemy in most of the missions. To change your target, press the
target change button (controller type), both turbos (Twin Types), or L1/R1 (Auto Type).

Note that you can only change target when you're not in the middle of an attack sequence, meaning that you're
not suppose to be firing at anything. The twin type controls have the risk of human errors, where your fingers
might slipped and press just one of the turbos, resulting in unexpected turbo attacks or dash cancels.
The controller types are much more reliable in this case. You can still change your target in the middle of a
dash, until you press the trigger.

Actions & Movements                                                                                      #MOVING
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

MOVING:

==========
Walking:
==========
By pressing the direction on the D. pad or pushing both sticks to your desired direction, your VR will walk at
normal pace to that particular direction.

You can move into 8 directions: Forward, backward, left, right, and 4 diagonal directions.
The Virtuaroids having powerful mobility can dodge enemy shells pretty well by this motion.

==========
Turning:
==========
You can turn to the left and right by controlling the Turn button and Direction button together.
It's useful when you lost sight of the enemy or you want to change directions.  Quick turn is possible by pressing
the Dash button together with the turn button.

==========
Dashing:
==========
To dash, move the VR by pressing (and holding) the D. Pad or the sticks to the direction you want to go and then
press the turbo button. Your VR’s boosters will activate, allowing you to cruise in a straight line at high speed.
It can be used to dodge enemy shells, take a subtle interval, and make a fierce attack against the enemy.  A dash
speed and distance vary depending on Virtuaroids.  Note that you cannot move at all for an instant after dashing.
Be careful of this unguarded moment. If you attack the enemy while dashing, the VR turns to the enemy
automatically, and makes a Lock-On attack.

To cancel a dash, simply press the turbo button again. Note that you can’t cancel a dash if you had fired any
weapons.

=============
Curve Dash:
=============
To perform a curved dash, first perform a normal dash, then push the right analog stick (or hold the button
assigned for turning).

==============
Watari Dash:
==============
Somewhat slower that it was in OT, but still proven to be useful; A Watari dash is when you change your direction
in mid-dash. To do it, start a dash, then press a new direction while you’re still cruising. Please note, you
can’t Watari dash after you pulled the trigger, and you can’t watari to the opposite direction of your primary
dash (ie: Left to Right, Front to Back). You can use a quick direction change though, by doing the Watari dash
twice (ie: Back-Left-Front). Why is it called Watari Dash? It was first demonstrated by Juro Watari, the producer
of the game during the OT era.

==========
Jumping:
==========
Jumping is usually used to avoid incoming attacks, to prepare an aerial assault, or to simply regaining the sight
of the opponent. Yes, your VR will automatically turn to the opponent you’d currently locked onto, but like VO:OT
and VO:Force, this auto-facing mechanism will end the moment you reached the apex of your jump. Note that you can
still move around in the air to get yourself a safer landing spot.
To cancel a jump, press the crouch/guard button (or push both sticks inward) before reaching the apex. Jump
canceling lets you to face the opponent without risking of getting hit during unnecessary freeze times of
unnecessary attacks.

=================
Aerial Dashing:
=================
Aerial dashing is a dash performed in mid air. To air-dash, jump, then dash to any direction. You can use the
curve, Watari and cancel as they were in the ground versions.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

====================
Far-range Attacks:                                                                                           #FAR
====================
These attacks are fired when you pulled the trigger with a normal lock-on. Pressing the triggers while walking
will start the walking attacks. Since the enemy will undoubtfully runs around, this is best use for stationary
targets, like turrets.
(Green crosshair with a ring, blue weapon gauge).

==============================
Ground/ Aerial Dash Attacks:
==============================
To attack while dashing, first start a dash and then pulled the desired trigger.
Your VR will turn to face the opponent you’re currently locked-on to, and fires at him. Aerial dash attacks is
done with an air dash instead of the normal ground dash.

The dash distance and speed vary depending on VRs. They can also change depending on the motions while dashing.
Remember that the attack method will change depending on the dash directions also in the individual VR.
For example, in the case of the beam rifle of TEMJIN, 1 normal shot is fired normally, 2 consecutive spiral shots
of higher beam convergence are fired when dashing forward, and 4 consecutive normal shots are fired when dashing
to the left or right.

In this way, the fighting ability of the dashing attack varies depending on the dash directions. You should
select the type of the dash attack considering what kind of offensive or defensive motions you should take
depending on the situations.

==================
Jumping Attacks:
==================
Simply said, you just pull the trigger before you reach the apex of your jump. You cannot cancel the jump after
an aerial attack, but pressing the crouch/guard button will cause you to land faster.

====================
Crouching Attacks:
====================
To crouch attack, press the crouch/ guard button and trigger simultaneously, or you can hold the crouch/ guard
button, then press the desired trigger.

================
Turbo Attacks:
================
These attacks are hyped-up version of the normal attacks, and they consume more energy as well as having longer
recovery time, but they do pack more damage. To do a turbo shot, press the turbo button together with any trigger,
or you can hold the turbo button, then press the desired trigger. A small number of crouching turbo shots were
removed.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=

======================
Close Range Attacks:                                                                                       #CLOSE
======================
These attacks are unleashed when you pulled the trigger with a double lock-on
(Lock-on widened, weapon gauges yellow). Usually they’re slashes and slamming the opponents. Crouching CC has been
removed from the game.

In close-range battles, one hit can be of serious damage in general, but it takes some period to go into the
motion. Be careful of the unguarded moment. Especially, TEMJIN and APHARMD can make a fierce close attack by using
the left arms and right arms separately, as well as using both arms together. The momentary judgment can decide
life or death in the close-range battle.

==========
Dash CC:
==========
Attacks the opponent with melee weapon (ie: sword) while dashing. To do a dash CC, do a forward dash (and the
diagonal versions), then pull the stick back (D-pad down) and press a trigger. LW will attack the left side, RW
attacks the right side and CW will attack up front. Same with aerial dash CC. Dash CCs does not require the VR to
be in CC range, just dash close enough to the opponent will do.

NOTE: Not all VRs have aerial dash CCs. ONly the Myzr Series, Temjin 747J &J/V, Temjin 747a8, Temjin 707j(SF) and
     Fei-Yen VH have the aerial dash CC attacks.

======================
Jump (Quick Hop) CC:
======================
Meant to be a form of counter attack on unsuspecting opponents. To do a jump CC, press the jump button
simultaneously with a trigger in CC range.

===========
Turbo CC:
===========
A stronger set of melee combats with bigger damage, able to crush a guard and of course slower activation with
long recovery time. Enemies will be knocked off their feet even if they're blocking.
Press the turbo button together with a trigger in CC range to do a turbo CC.

==============
Uppercut CC:
==============
Newly implemented in MARZ, this move is meant to attack airborne opponents in CC range, as well as crushing a
guard of an opponent. Airborne opponents will sometimes suffer double damage. To perform this attack, pull the
movement stick back (D-pad back) and press a trigger.

==============
Circular CC:
==============
This is to circle around the opponent and attack him from the back. To do it, press left or right on the D-pad
(that is, move left or right) and press the desired trigger. CW circular CC, which is not available in VOOT, has
the ability to crush an opponent's guard if it's nicely placed.

===============
Chase hit CC:
===============
This is an attack on fallen opponents. When you knocked an opponent down and you’re in CC range, one weapon gauge
will turn green. Pull the appropriate trigger for that gauge and your VR will move up to the fallen VR and do a
chase hit. Or you can just step out of CC range and shoot him...VRs had faster recovery time that they do in VOOT,
so this move has a very slim chance of hitting.

=======================
Recovery Surprise CC:
=======================
As a special occasion, when you fell down due to the enemy's attack, if your enemy is within a close attack range
(Under the Double Lock-On status), you can make a sudden attack against the enemy at the moment you get up.
Press any arms button at the very moment you get up (Left, Right, or Both depending on VRs). You can give a severe
hit against the enemy who is waiting for your getting up. This rarely hits anything though, especially if the
opponent performs a circular CC.

===========
Guarding:
===========
Guard can defend VRs against the arms attack by the enemy only in the close-range battle, but it's an essential
motion to defend the fierce attack made by the enemy. Doing this will minimized the potentially fatal attacks
by the enemy, and prepares you for a counter blow. Beware though, sometiems the opponent will attempt to knock you
off your feet with a turbo CC.

==================
Guard Reversals:
==================
This is a form counter attack, usually executed after a block on unsuspecting opponents. To execute this move,
press and hold the crouch/guard button, then press either the left or right trigger. However, this move is rather
slow compared to its VOOT counterpart, and is easily avoidable by jump-cancelling away, and you'll have major
freeze time.

Techniques                                                                                               #TECHS

==========
Advices:
==========

Simply moving around and pressing the triggers will do little help in the game when it progress further, you’ll
need some basic skills to survive smarter AIs.

Jump-cancelling helps when you need to face the opponent but you don’t want to fired an aerial shot or do a dash
attack. To do a jump cancel, jump, then press the crouch button.

Dash cancels can be useful to dodge incoming attacks, and to avoid doing reckless repetitive dash attacks which
will drain your weapon gauge for nothing if you never planned for an attack.

Obstacles can be use as effective cover at times, use them at will!

CC is better than far-range attacks in damage terms, but are more riskier too, make a balance between these two,
depending on your current situation.

Since you’ll be fighting more than 1 enemies at times, use the target change effectively. Chasing one VR all the
time while having another enemy doing a barrage at you from behind is not a good idea.

Use the repair disc when necessary...you don’t wanna retry the whole stage if you’re already at the end of the
mission.

When there’s a partner fighting along, let him do all the hard job while you do your best with other opponents,
or help by doing far-range attacks. Unless you've already consider yourself an experienced player in MARZ then,
go smash the enemies~!

=======================
Healing Your Partner:
=======================
In some missions, you will have a partner to help you out. And with the lousy AI, he won't stand much against
bosses or gang-fights. So when he's demolished, a cylindrical binary field will surround it, and he'll start
calling for your help (IE: Hatter's "RESCUE PLEASE!!!"). Now, you actually four choices to make here:

1) Press the Select button to use a repair disc, both of you will get the benefits of the repair.

2) Move towards him into the binary field. You'll generously donates an amount of your life to your partner to get
  even. Not really a good idea if you're facing a boss.

3) If that mission is divided into multiple areas, proceed to the next area and both of your lifebars will be
  replenish to their maximum values.

4) Hell. Just ignore that idiot and do it alone so you can get a better rank for destroying more VRs (Yes, if your
  partner kills more than you do, you ranks will go lower as there's little left for you).

NOTE: Normally pressing the select button will cause you to use up a repair disc, but if you'd no repair disc with
     you and you had a KO'ed partner, pressing the select button will activate the rescue dash instead.

=========
Freeze:
=========
As mentioned, you have the freezing moment when you cannot move at all immediately after the various motions.
Many players tend to use the dashing attack frequently. It's a very useful method because it can attack the
enemy, catching sight of him automatically. However, you cannot go to the next motion just after finishing the
dashing attack. At that moment, the Virtuaroid will be just a <target standing still>.

Also, many players may use the jumping attack frequently, because it can attack the enemy from the higher
position, catching sight of him automatically. However, when you are at the highest position or just after the
jumping attack, you cannot land on the ground quickly. At that moment, you will be a <target dropping slowly> for
the enemy.

You also have this freezing moment at the beginning and the end of the close attack and the attack by firing left
& right arms.

To be a better player, you should move skillfully so as not to be utilized your freezing moment and to utilize
that of the enemy. You can also instigate the enemy to make this unguarded moment. You need a quick judgment
before a quick reaction. You should seize this sense.

=========
Offset:
=========
The attack by some arms may offset the attack by other arms in some cases. If you master this technique, the arms
for offense can be that for defense.

The bomb, napalms, and ground bombs incorporated in Temjin, Apharmd, Raiden and Vox can offset many attacks by
utilizing their bomb blast as a barrier. Basically, after making a bomb attack, you can prevent the attack by the
enemy by hiding yourself in the blast, and make a surprise attack against the enemy. As the damage by a blast can
extend horizontally and vertically, the power of the blast itself is also considerable. You can use the bomb type
arms for the various tactics such as defense, light offense, and feint.

There are many cases where you can destroy the enemy shells by firing your arms.  You will be able to obtain such
a technique through the simulation and practical battle.

==========
Cancels:
==========
Frame cancelling. Some attacks can be cancelled by simply pressing the D-pad, and then releasing it immediately,
allowing certain tricks such as Temjin's rapid-firing beam rifles, and 747a8's annoying 4 beam swords combo.
You might want to experiment these with the guard button too. This is somewhat similar to OT 5.2, where the ol'
dagger storm make use of it the most. This, in Marz is also known as the walk-cancel.

NOTE: You can also do the frame cancel attacks by holding the appropriate trigger and tapping the D-pad.

There's another form of cancel in Marz known as the drop-cancel, where an attempt to fire your weapon could be
cancelled by walking off an obstacle, though this is not really helpful.

Close range attacks also can be cancelled by jumping or dashing. Turbo CC attacks, however, is not cancellable.

============================
Advanced Thrust Vectoring: [Source: Fei-Yen Knight Quarters]
============================
The game mechanics is designed in such a way that that if you are closing in onto your opponent or if your
opponent is running away, your chance of hitting your opponent increases while his decreases!
The following is the application of the Advance Thrust Vectoring method.

If opponent is...(air borne or on the ground)

Standing or walking or dashing away from you
============================================
Use forward dashing attacks. Better still, use diagonal forward dashing attacks as you can dodge your opponent's
projectiles while you attack!

Dashing side-way pendicularly to you
====================================
Dash straight forward and fire you weapon of choice.

Diagonal-forward dashing at you
===============================
Use diagonal forward dashing attacks in a path that "cut" through his running path.
To make the most out of this, you can use dashing/aerial dashing directional change to dodge and attack in the
most advantageous way. By changing your dashing orientation due to changes in the opponent relative position to
you (your opponent can make attempts to run), you can shift yourself till you are moving forward or diagonally
forward for the maximum effect.

Contrasting with what is above, the Advance Thrust Vectoring also means that you must learn to that the most
stupid mistake is to dash or move in any backward directions. Not only that your distance with your opponent
increases, the chances of hitting with your weapons drops to nil. If your opponent is aware if the Advance Thrust
Vectoring, he will simply diagonal forward dash (avoid your projectiles) and counter attack (Point 1 of ATV).

You can watch a expert level fight and see that almost all the dashes and aerial dashes are mostly forward or
diagonal forward versions.

Below it a table that might be helpful. The chances of getting a hit on the opponent shown are dependent on the
weapon used and is assumed that the opponent does not jump. All the direction of dashes are relative to the
position of the opponent and applies to aerial dashes too. Eg. backward dash means you are running away from the
opponent.

|                   |                                 |                                    |
| Direction of dash | Chances of hitting the opponent | Chances of getting hit by opponent |
|===================|=================================|====================================|
| Forward           |             40%                 |                 60%                |
|-------------------|---------------------------------|------------------------------------|
| Diagonal Forward  |             20%                 |                 80%                |

| Diagonal Backward |             25%                 |                 75%                |
'-------------------'---------------------------------'------------------------------------'

By dashing relatively forward to the opponent, you can lose your opponent's lock-on while you maintain yours while
you also gain the advantage of ATV's benefits!

Dashing forward to a stationary opponent also poses risks. Remember that to the stationary opponent, you are also
moving towards him ! That means the ATV actually benefits the both of you. Since stationary attacks tends to be
more cancellable than dashing attacks, you are at the end of the sword!

To solve this, use diagonal forward dashes instead. In this case, the distance between you can your opponent still
decreases, but the opponent loses the lock-on, which is a critical advantage. Without a lock-on, ATV's advantage
is all for you to reap. Sure, the opponent can jump-cancel or rotate to regain the lock-on, but your weapons will
normally render the situation hopeless to your opponent.

If you are at the recieving end of a forward diagonal dashing attack, answer with a forward dashing attack. In
this case, both of you will have a lock-on on each other, distance increasing and both of you dashing relatively
backwards to each other. Both of you loses the advantage of ATV then. Fire your weapon only after you opponent
had, as the first-in-first-out rule applies to your advantage.

By dashing relatively sidewards to the opponent, both your projectiles are equally likely to hit and is dependent
on the choice of your weapon used.

By dashing relatively backwards to the opponent, you lose all your advantages...silly...stupid.

Mission Guide                                                                                           #GUIDE
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

*NOTE*: The guide below is written based on just a single playthrough. It's meant to be an outline of what you'll
       be going through, but not exactly what you'll go through will be the same, as the missions you'll
       encounter are on random, so enemies might not be the same as the ones I listed here. Enemies appear on
       random on most stages.

*NOTE2*: There are two routes that depend on how well/bad you did in the Mars Central and Jupiter missions.
        a) The first route is Mars(Central)-->Jupiter-->Earth-->Moon-->Mars(Polar)-->Finals.
           This route is available if you managed to rescue Hatter in Mars and defeat the Rose Sisters in Jupiter.

        b) The second route is Mars(Central)-->Jupiter-->Moon-->Earth-->Mars(Polar)-->Finals.
           This route is available if you didn't manage to rescue Hatter in Mars and also lose to the Rose Sisters
           in Jupiter.

Route A will be using the terms (The Earth after Jupiter) and (The Moon After Earth).
Route B will be using the terms (The Earth after Moon) and (The Moon after Jupiter).

Episode 1-- Mars Central Area:                                                                       #MARSCENTRAL
````````````````````````````````
Humans replaced conventional Warfare with the "Limited War", commercialized warfare. Since VC a0, citizens have
been fascinated by the machines called Virtuaroids.
They watched larger-than-life battles to marvel at the spectacle, and revel in the mayhem.
Mars. The abandoned planet, the stage for the Limited War, where a new legend will begin...
Mission 1
Our orders: To safely retrieve Sgt. Hatter. We've lost contact with the Sgt. while he was infiltrating the
           Equatorial War Zone. The military group DNA have VR units in the Martian front area, so expect
           resistance. Stay alert.
Defeat all VRs in the target area.
"WELCOME TO THE MARTIAN FRONT!"
Your first mission is easy...destroy that Vox Lee in front of you and you're done.
Vox Lee: Damn! It's MARZ!
Mission 2
Intelligence reports an underground organization operating in the area. They're trying to rig the Limited Wars
while fighting the military groups DNA and RNA. Our information is limited because DNA, RNA and InterWar have been
uncooperative. The disappearance of Sgt. Hatter indicates they're more powerful than we thought. At this point,
conflict is unavoidable. Keep on your guard.
Defeat all VRs in the target area..
Condition : Defeat all VRs.
Time Limit: 255 Seconds.
Enemies   : Unknown.
"TIME TO FIGHT!!"
Your mission here will be destroying the Voxes in this disc-shaped area. You'll first encounter a Vox Lee,
followed by yet another Vox Lee, and lastly, Vox Dan. Destroying the Dan will end this mission immediately.
However, if the Vox Dan managed to escaped through the gates, another two Vox Lees will appear, followed by a Vox
Dan.
<Was the revolt caused by the underground?>
Mission 3
The DNA side is on constant alert. They're not our target so there's no point in engaging them. Move through the
canyon to the next area, outside their zone of control.
Move to the target area.
Condition : Reach the designated area.
Time Limit: 285 Seconds
Enemies   : 3
"FIGHT IN THE CANYON!"
Still fighting the Vox series, you'll go through 3 areas, each housing a different Vox. You'll first encounter a
Lee, followed by Bob1 and another Bob1. The 4th area is the exit.
Mission 4
DNA is larger than we previously estimated. We will now launch a full assault on their stronghold. Hopefully, this
attack will flush out the mastermind behind DNA. If not, we might get lucky and find Sgt. Hatter. Go get 'em.
And be careful.
"AT WIT'S END!"
In this area, six Temjins will be waiting for you, each appearing on top of obstacles one by one; the first
opponent you'll face here will be the 10/80 adv standing infront of you. Another 10/80 will emerged after you had
destroyed the first one, followed by 707J, another 2 10/80s and one final 707J.
We've pin-pointed the position of Sgt. Hatter and his Apharmd. Target this location. Remember, our intelligence
about this area is imcomplete. Expect the unexpected. You're on your own out there, so good luck.
Rescue Sgt. Hatter
"FINAL EXECUTION!"
---Cutscene---
Hatter: Hey--- Be careful!
You've found Sergeant Hatter! A Z-Gradt materialized in front of you and prevent you from rescuing himwithout a
fight. His first cannon shot will be targeted on Hatter. Destroy him before he executes the crucified Hatter!!
You can use the repair disc here(or if you don't have any, the rescue dash will work).
Note: If he did killed Hatter, he won't be helping you in the Jupiter Missions; You'll have a normal VR partner
     instead.
---Cutscene(Hatter Rescued)---
VC a6. Mankind sought after the Jupiter Crystals. In retaliation, the war crystals, Ajim and Guerlain, invaded.
Their materialization was halted at the boundary by the strike force leader, Anber IV, overseer of the powerful
plant, TSC Drammen.
Mission 1
Z-Gradt has stopped us from uncovering our target in the Equatorial War Zone. We're to commence a massive search
and explore the grounds at the battle area.
You'll be transported by retro-convert positioning from the assault mothership.
---(Extra; If you rescued Hatter)---
You'll be joined by Sgt. Hatter. We're relying on you.
Enter the central enemy area and defeat all VRs.
Condition : Defeat all VRs.
Time Limit: 290 Seconds.
<Mothership Iderstar. The lead ship of the Force strike fleet engages the Retro-Convert positioning.>
"OVERWHELMING ODDS"
You'll start out with Hatter (Or any VR partner if you failed to rescue him from Z-Gradt)in a small corridor,
proceed forward to the first area, where an Apharmd J/C will come to face you. When you're done, breakthrough the
door in front of you to the 2nd area, and an Apharmd J/A will show up. There are 3 doors here; One's a dead-end,
one's a dead-end with an enemy VR and the last one leads you to the central enemy area.
Partner: One of these doors should lead a way in.
        A dead end. We've got to find another way.
        All right! This is it!
Another J/A and two J/Cs will confront you. Finish them off to end the mission.
Mission 2
RNA is the force behind the Jupiter Zone opposition whose dislike of MARZ is growing. They've formed an illegal
alliance with DNA in the Martian Zone, and are now more powerful than we estimated.
I don't have to remind you how critical this is.
Get in there  and cause some havoc. Hopefully, you'll flush out the underground supporter.
Defeat all VRs in the target area
Condition : Defeat all VRs.
Time Limit: 270 Seconds
"ROAD OF CARNAGE"
2 Vox Dan are waiting for you here. Once you've destroyed them, another Vox Dan will appear together with a
Specineff 13 "Sin". Destroy them again to have yet another 2 Specineff 13 "Sin" to confront you. The mission will
be over once you'd demolish them.
<Destroy the RNA units and enter the corridor.>
Mission 3
The Force commander Anber IV, has begun negotiations. By assisting them in the Jupiter Zone, the Force will give
us valuable information about the enemy.
With the help of Anber IV, you should be able to locate Silvie Fang, the leader of the Rose Sisters.
That is all. Dismissed.
Contact Rose Sisters at the target area.
"A GIFT FROM THREE ROSES"
---Cutscene (Normal)---
Silvie  : I'm Silvie Fang.
Deborah : Deborah Bite.
Jeniffer: I'm Jenifer Poison.
Silvie  : And you're our guest.
---(Hatter)---
Hatter  : Careful, you can't trust these sisters.
Silvie  : Watch your tongue.
Deborah : What did you say?
Jeniffer: Oh no...
Silvie  : Can't trust us?
---(Normal Continued)---
Silvie  : If they weren't sent by Lord Anber I'd...We can take them!
Deborah : Yeah, yeah!
Jeniffer: We're fighting?
This will be your first encounter with the Three Sisters of the Rose. In this first encounter with the
three sisters, destroying two of them will trigger a short intermission where the Three Sisters are
giving Hatter a hard time. Please note that you are not able to use your repair disc here.
---Cutscene (Hatter)---
Silvie  : Enough. I'll take out the rude one.
Deborah : Sounds good.
Jeniffer: What?
*Silvie SLCs at Hatter*
Hatter  : Wha- Damn!
Silvie  : Done? I'm back!
Hatter  : C'mon! HYYAAARGGH!!
---Cutscene (Partner)---
Silvie  : Enough. I'll take out the geek.
Deborah : Sounds good.
Jeniffer: What?
All three sisters will be up and fighting again, but the 2 that you'd previously destroyed will have a
lifebar that a two forward dash rifle shots from Temjin could clear.
---Cutscene (Hatter Loses)---
Hatter  :
---Cutscene (Parner Loses)---
Accompanying craft has been disabled.
Partner: I'm sorry.
Winning this fight will earn you a Red Dymn Fragment.
---Cutscene (Winner Version)---
Silvie  : Enough. Let clear out. Deborah, Jenifer, let's go. We'll finish this later. Lord Anber was right. Here,
         take this. He entrusted us with it. I'm not sure how it works.
Deborah : AAAARRGG! They really pissed me off!
Jeniffer: Listen, Silvie gave you what is called a Dymon fragment. Dymon, the mystery of the moon.
         You must listen to my riddles...
---Cutscene (Loser Version)---
Silvie  : Enough. Let clear out. Deborah, Jenifer, let's go.
Deborah : AAAARRGG! They really pissed me off!
Jeniffer: Listen, remember the words, Dymon Fragments.
Mission 4 (After Losing to the Rose Sisters, failed to rescue Hatter from Z-Gradt)
The Battle with the Rose Sisters was unexpected. As a result, we have no support units available at this time, so
you're going solo on your next mission. Currently, we're researching the Dymon Fragment and we'll let you know
once we have something.
In the meantime, we're to continue our operation as planned.
---(Extra; Winning the battle with the Rose Sisters, Hatter Rescued from Z-Gradt)---
With the injuries he's sustained, Sgt. Hatter won't be able to help you until he recovers.
New Partner: I'll be joining you.
---(Normal; continued from "Into Decay", or Winning the Rose sisters without Hatter)
There's a heavy concentration of RNA units ahead. They're not responding to hails. It's time to use less
diplomatic methods. You're in for a tough fight, so remember to stay focused. Go get 'em.
Condition : Eliminate all encountered enemy VRs and reach the final designated area.
Time Limit: <Caution> Each area has its own time limit.
Enemies   : Unknown.
"ETERNAL FIGHT"
You'll have a new partner here (Hatter has returned to base to have repairs ^^u), unless you don't have
Hatter with you during the fight with the Rose sisters.
In this mission you'll be exploring a large area, separated into 5 parts. Each time you enter a
new part of the area, your life as well as your partner's will be replenished, so it's wise not to use
a repair disc after you'd win a battle.
1st Part: [2 Enemies] Apharmd T/F and Myzr Delta.
2nd Part: [2 Enemies] Apharmd T/F and Apharmd T/D.
3rd Part: [2 Enemies] Apharmd T/D and Myzr Delta.
4th Part: [2 Enemies] Apharmd T/D and Myzr Delta.
5th Part: [4 Enemies] Apharmd T/D and Myzr Delta, once both are destroyed another 2 Myzr Deltas will
         appear.
Hatter : Finally, the Red Zone. Let's start with the VRs, and then we'll keep going!
OR
Partner: We've finally made it. Don't worry about the fortresses, take out the VRs first!
The mission is completed the moment you destroyed all VRs in the 5th part.
<Victory is secured but the mystery remains.>
Final Mission
Our research indicates that the Dymon Fragment shows similarities with the V Crystals. To continue our research,
you will collect visual data from the Jupiter Crystals. The materialization of Ajim and Guerlain indicates
elevated Jupiter Crystal activity. They're extremely dangerous and if you encounter them, you can expect a
conflict.
Maintain visual presence in the Jupiter Crystal area.
"CRYSTAL DREAM"
(The Moon After Jupiter)
Your unit has been transfered to the Moon. Since the J Crystal's disappearance, we've experienced harmful
repercussions. Take the neccessary precautions. Oratorio Tangram, an ongoing Limited War since VCa4, persist in
the Earth zone. Stay alert. Expect resistance from both DNA and RNA. Maneuver to the Demilitarized Zone. The
route will be transmitted to the GPS unit in your VR.
(The Moon After Earth)
Your unit has been transfered to the Moon. We believe an organization called Dymon is responsible for the recent
events. We don't have confirmation, but I bet they're the one we've been searching for. More than likely, they're
connected to the disappearance of the J Crystal. There's a good chance where you'll run into some trouble on your
We're still unclear what caused the J Crystal's disappearance but we can be certain the effect will not be good.
We know the conditions are rough, however, you're outside of MARZ jurisdiction so we can't send backup.
(The Moon After Earth)
We believe Dymon is very capable of hacking into a VR's mainframe. It appears they had no problems overcoming the
MARZ firewall installed in your VR. Your unit is damaged, however, you're outside of MARZ jurisdiction, so we
can't send backup. Proceed to the Demilitarized Zone. The route will be uploaded to your VR's GPS.
"UNDER A SHADOW"
2 Shadow VRs, once you manage to get one of them in critical condition, a cutscene will ensues showing the White
Knight (747a8) entering the arena.
White knight: You! Are you MARZ or Shadow?
He'll help you to deal with the other Shadow VR. You'll get your first Shadow Disc here.
Ghosts. Under the supervision of FR-08, the White Knight's mission is to destroy the Shadow. A direct attack, at
this point, would be useless, so let them make the first move.
white Knight: My name is Vystein. Callsign: White Knight of the Ghosts. The area next to the Moongate is rich in
a type of V Crystal called Moon Crystal. We protect these lands from the Shadow. We've heard of an unaffiliated VR
travelling through here. You're an intruder. We believe your craft is contaminated by the Shadow.
Gather Information on White Knight.
"LISTENING TO GHOSTS"
Mission 8
white Knight: We observed frequencies from the V Converter in your VR during battle. Results appeared normal but
             you still may be a Shadow. We must take you beyond the Moongate's sphere of influence. Come with us!
Commander   : We must comply. You're in a dangerous region and you're likely to run into a Shadow. So, the safest
             course of action is to follow the White Knight until otherwise instructed.
Follow the White Knight.
"ENCOUNTER WITH SHADOW"
A single Shadow VR. You'll get the second Shadow Disc after this battle.
White Knight: Look out! The Shadow is right behind you! Contamination is at 12%
Mission 9
White Knight: A Shadow is essentially the unconcious desires that lie deep beyond human reason. V Crystals magnify
             these urges and create Shadow. V Converter inside VRs contain V Crystals making VR pilots vulnerable
             to the Shadow. once you're contaminated, there's no way to undue the effect. A Shadow contaminated
             VR is deadly. It is our mission to deny the Shadow existence.
Continue to follow the White Knight.
Mission 10
White Knight: Hmmm...Strange. We're near the Moongate where the Moon Crystals are stored. There's a good chance
             the Shadow will shopw up. that's why we do not allow passage to the area. But why are there so many
             Shadow-contaminated VRs?
Continue to follow the White Knight.
"DEFEATING SHADOW"
3 Shadow VRs. Your fourth Shadow disc.
White knight: It's the Shadow! Contamination rate is at 50%
<Approach the Moongate.>
Mission 11
White Knight: Perhaps your presence here is a catalyst. Since the Oratorio Tangram war, many VR units have
             violated this region. Most disappeared, never to be found. but your presence has triggered an
             awakening in the Shadow.
Continue to follow the White Knight.
"ILL OMEN"
4 Shadow VRs. Your final Shadow Disc.
White Knight: Another Shadow! Contamination at 75%! I'll get help! Stay alert!
<A catastrophe. the catalyst is revealed.>
Congratulations! You've obtained all 5 Shadow Discs. But is it a good thing? A cutscene will show the 5 shadow
discs revolve at high speed, merging into 1 portal, showing you the moon in red.
Mission 12
White Knight: It's time for drastic measures. Chances are the recnt Shadow sightings are due to the disappearance
             of the J Crystals. Since then, the balance of real space has been disrupted. If my fears are
             correct, then you must go to the Moongate and confront your own Shadow!
Continue to follow the White Knight.
"SHADE OF ONESELF"
---Custscene---
White Knight: You must destroy your own Shadow. It's the fastest way to end this surge of darkness.
You've just been teleported to the deepest core of the MoonBase. A Shadow VR will appear from the shadow gate. The
Shadow VR is the same as the VR you're using to fight him, so if you want a very easy fight, get Vox Lee to fight
in this area. Good Luck!
You'll be fighting a 1-on-1 battle with the Shadow VR, while the White Knight hovers around you both as a
spectator, most probably to let you to handle your other darker side. Once he's destroyed, a cutscene will show
you the closing of the Shadow Gate, and the White Knight will leaves, since the threat of Shadow has ended.
---Cutscene---
White Knight: Your mission was a success. The Shadow are decreasing. We were sent here to drive out the Shadow,
             and now our works is done. Thank you for your help. Good bye and safe travels.
Good thing that Ghost showed up when he did. If it wasn't for his help, there would've been little to no chance
you'd escape. The negotiations with FR-08 ended successfully. A pickup ship is on it's way. Head to the rendevous
point now.
Dymon: Save by the White Knight. We'd called that luck. Not that is matters. You'll be gone soon enough, and out
      of our way!
Defeat enemies and get to the rendevous point.
Warning, corruption detected. (HUD* Heads-up Display malfunctioning)
"IMMERSED IN SHADOW"
Commander: Be careful! You're being hacked!
Dymn has cause an interference, your HUD will be disabled here. 2 Temjin 707J will confronts you, destroy them and
a Dymn orb will appear in the air. Finish him off to end this mission.
<A voice in the dark. Listen to the laughter of hatred.>
Mission 14
(The Moon After Jupiter)
Your VR's mainframe is being hacked from an external source. Our intelligence speculate this attack is coming
directly from Dymon. Their capabilities make them extremely dangerous. Keep an eye on your VR or you may lose some
combat functions. Get to the rendevous point immediately.
Dymon: We've waited for this day...waited...for you...You'll suffer a most painful death!
(The Moon After Earth)
You're in a tough situation. Dymon's simultaneously attacking you and hacking your systems. Dymon was responsible
for the disappearance of the J Crystals, your mission on Earth and your battle with Shadow on the Moon. There's no
time to lose, stay on the offensive, and get to the rendevous point.
Dymon: Mankind cannot see beyond its greed. Your natural desire to destroy yourself has given birth to the Limited
      Wars. MARZ...We've been waiting...waiting for you...You will suffer a most painful death!
Defeat enemies and get to the rendevous point.
Warning, corruption detected. (HUD* Heads-up Display)is malfunctioning. Only melee weapons are available.
"LUNAR ECLIPSE"
5 Dymn orbs are waiting for you here. As another interference effect, you won't be able to unleash any far-range
attacks. You're only permitted to go into CC battles with them.
<A voice in the dark. Filled with hateful laughter.>
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
Final Mission
(The Moon After Jupiter)
Dymon: You. You have gone too far. Humanity doesn't know its limitations. You are such fools. That's why we
      despised you so...It's time for you to learn your lesson.
<Dymon: If the Moon is hell, purgatory is next. Listen MARZ. We are Dymon. Come with us.>
(The Moon After Earth)
Dymon: War distorts the lines between good and evil. You tried to cover that truth by replacing war with your
      commercialized Limited Wars. But in the end, the results were the same. We Dymon are very similar to the
      Virtual society. You could say that we are the paradigm of this reality.
      Marz. So valiant. Yet, so destructive. Can't you see? You are your own undoing.
Defeat enemies and get to the rendevous point.
"CRIMSON MOON"
Dymn had enough. In this area (Control Saucer), a Dymn Arm will battle with you. See opponents section for more
details.
Dymon: I'm ready. Are you?
<Dymon's hack was prevented. A rescue craft is on it's way.>
     as they might be depending on you previous missions' performace, your missions might differs from the ones
     below. Probable variations of these missions are:
     a) Defending your own Defenders. These missions will end after a certain time limit.
Mission 1
(The Earth after Moon)
Your unit has been transfered to Earth. We believe an organization called Dymon is responsible for the recent
events. We don't have confirmation, but I bet they're the one we've been searching for. More than likely, they're
connected to the disappearance of the J Crystal. There's a good chance where you'll run into some trouble on your
next mission.
<Mother Earth's crushing embrace.>
(The Earth After Jupiter)
Your unit has been transfered to earth. After the J Crystal's disappearance, we've experienced harmful
repercussions. Take the neccessary precautions. Inside the Earth Zone, the large-scale Limited War, Oratorio
Tangram, has been continuing since VC. a4. So, expect attacks from both DNA and RNA. Use the route high-lighted in
your VR's GPS to move to the Demilitarized Zone. Communication will be kept to a minimum. Good luck.
Mission 2
Dymon's hacking ability are considerable. They were able to cut through our MARZ Net firewall like it was paper.
But we don't have time to conduct a thorough investigation. Now, we understand you took damage. But currently
you're located in the SBRV Forbidden Zone, and we can't supply you with backup. You're on your own.
(The Earth after Jupiter)
Currently you're in the SBRV, the off-limits area which divides FR-08 from the rest of the world. It's managed by
the giant cyber syndicate called TSC. It's purpose is unknown and until now, no one has been able to enter without
permission. The fighting has already started. Head for the Demilitarized Zone quickly.
(The Earth After Jupiter)
We're still unclear what caused the J Crystal's disappearance but we can be certain the effect will not be good.
"LET THE BATTLE COME"
Another large area, divided into 5 parts (NOTE: Upon entering new area, life will be replenished):
---Cutscene---
LDN : Gill, I'm not sure about this plan. We should check first.
Gill: Shut up, Leddin! When an opportunity comes, you have to take it. Dymon's plan is perfect.
LDN : But, fighting MARZ?
Gill: Enough! MARZ is only human. We're the SHBVD. They can't stop us!
1st Part: Raiden SVT (gfk) 512E1 and Raiden SVT (gfk) 512E2 will confronts you here.
2nd Part: 2 Raiden SVT (gfk) 512E2.
3rd Part: Raiden SVT (gfk) 512E1 and Raiden SVT (gfk) 512E2.
5th Part: Gill and LDN from the SHBVD will battle with you. See opponents section for details.
*NOTE: If your partner is destroyed, a cutscene will show Hatter entering the area and negotiates with Gill & LDN.
---Cutscene (Hatter)---
Hatter: Hya~~!*Mega somersaults* Hold it right there! I said freeze!
Gill  : Who the hell are you?
Hatter: I'm of no concern. But you on the other hand...
Gill  : Excuse me?
Hatter: Hahaha. What would happen if your captain knew that you disobeyed orders and were helping Dymon?
LDN   : Squadron leader?
Gill  : Shut up! Let's go.
The battle ends...and so does a friendship.
<Resistance grows in the Martian Zone.>
Mission 7
Hatter: You! You don't get it do you? Nothing will ever change on Mars. With the cyber syndicates and warmongers
       siding with Dymon, there's no chance to regain control. So, I've decided to stir things up a bit. That's
       right. They can't take control of me. But I don't care. I'm going to blow you out of the sky!
"MEETING OF FRIENDS"
Hatter will challenge you for a duel here. * See opponents section for details.
Final Mission
Sgt. Hatter's action were unexpected, though he doesn't seem to be siding with Dymon. His intentions won't
interfere with your new mission, so there's no reason to fight him. We've located the J Crystals. Proceed to their
location and recapture them.
Release the J Crystal's binding.
Condition : Defeat all MOLTONs.
Time Limit: No Time Limit.
Enemies   : Unknown.
"EXPOSED..."
---Cutscene---
The J Crytals hve been taken by Dymon.
The J. Crystal is detected in this area. This mission will be divided into 4 parts, but directions are based on
the position you start on, so know where you're facing.
Dymon: It's about time. Prepare to die.
North Side: Upon entering this area, there will be several laser turrets here. You won't be able to lock-on to
           them, but they're destroyable. That's pointless though...they'll respawn each time you did. Proceed to
           the door on the other side, where a MLTN FP is waiting for you. Winning this battle get you a repair
           disc, now go back to the center area to access other areas.
South Side: This is all about timing. You'll be blocked by electric gates, which goes on and off in a certain
           duration. all you have to do is to carefully navigate through them when they goes off. Dash cancel's
           best here. Once you're through, MLTN CF will be there.
East Side : This part will be guarded by the electric gates and spiky floating mines. Just avoid them while going
           through the gates (the mines are destroyable), it won't be hard. MLTN TF is waiting for you here.
West Side : Another area guarded only by electric gates again, but with some horizontal variants low on the
           grounds between the vertical ones. Air dash cancels works best here, and at the end of this area,
           you'll encounter MLTN FF.
After completing all four sides, return to the centre to view a cutscene where the trapped J. Crystal is released,
and a long speech from Dymn.
<The J Crystals are freed and the war intensifies...thanks to Dymon.>
Dymon: We are Dymon. There was once a time when we bend the V Crystals to our wills. And our ancestors prospered.
      Your path will end in destruction. You are so naive, so helpless... Enjoy your ignorance while you still
      can.
`````````````````````````````````
---Cutscene---
The J Crystal's movement activated Dymon's hidden fortress in meta-cyber space. this weapon is capable of
destroying all matter in the universe. Marz needs all 7 of the Dymon Fragments to trace the targets in the
fortress. There is a deposit of fragments in Dymon's mobile fortress. It will be difficult to collect them.
Now a new battle begins for MARZ...

New Operator: Hello, I'm -ah, I'm, your new command operator. The fight against Dymon is escalating. Our goal is
             to prevent the construction of the antimatter fortress. Your team is scheduled for deployment. To
             prevent Dymon from hacking your VR, communications security is raised to level SSS. And, in addition
             to the usual reports, I'll be giving you regualr updates on Dymon. I know I'm new but you can trust
             me to do my best to support you.

Defeat all enemies in the target site and collect the remaining fragments.
Condition : Defeat all enemies.

---(Extra Info on Dymon)---

N.O: I have some information regarding Dymon. The aliens who built the Moongate were believed to be extinct. But
    mankind's presence awoke their residual conciousness. This conciousness is what we call, 'Dymon'. As I was
    saying, I'm going to send you the latest data on your strategy.

    Dymon is a ghost from the past. They're fueled by anger and pride. Dymon didn't create the V Crystals, but
    they did manipulate them to create the Moongate. Their technology is gone. All that remains is a hatred for
    mankind.

    Once a proud race, Dymon was forced to lurk shapeless in meta cyberspace. Their hatred leaked through the
    Moongate and was absorbed by our digital society. Dymon manipulated data and tempted syndicates with the
    promise of profit. Before we knew it, the Limited Wars were fully corrupted.

You'll now have to search for 7 Dymn Fragments in all previous areas you'd been to, namely Jupiter, Earth, Moon
and Mars (Polar & Central). Unfortunately, the missions here are on random, so you'll have to try them out on
luck. The only way for you to get Dymn Fragments is by winning battles with the 3 Sisters, Dymn Arm/Worm, Z-Gradt,
MLTN and the SHBVD raidens. Losing to the 3 Sisters will cause you to lose a fragment.

Getting 7 Dymn fragments will end this extra episode. If you'd collected some Dymn Fragments earlier in the game
(The first encounter with the 3 sisters, and the Hatter Duel), you'll only need to get the remaining numbers of
Dymn fragments.

You'll sometimes run into Hatter, which will be a duel. Winning a battle here replenishes your Repair Disc to its
maximum value, 5 (Thanks to Eizaz for this info.)

Note: In this Dymn Chaos Missions, a percentage value will appear on the top right corner when you're selecting
     the areas. This is the collapse level, and it's not a good idea to have a big value for it. The percentage
     will increases each time you cleared a mini episodes, or failed. Clearing a mini episode will increase the
     value by 3%, while failing will increase the value by 3% per area cleared (If you had cleared 4 area before
     failing in the 5th, then it would be 12%).
     Once this reached 100% (usually it's 99%, but clearing/failing an area with this number will brings you to a
     hundred anyway), the game is over, unless that's your last Dymn Fragment. So it is advice to find all Dymn
     fragments as quick as possible.

<Mission accomplished. Good job!>
<Area under control, return to base.>

The Anti-Matter Fortress:                                                                                   #FINAL
````````````````
---Cutscene---
Unite the Dymon Fragments and open the gate of Tangram.
N.O: The gate of Tangram is finally open!! MARZ's true objective was to destroy Dymon. Stooping Dymon meant
    recapturing Tangram, and taking back our destiny. I am Miss Plajiner. I created MARZ for this purpose. Your
    mission is to enter meta cyberspace and destroy Dymon's antimatter fortress. Once you're there, we won't be
    able to communicate. However, Tangram will guide you. This is what MARZ was made to do.
    Focus on your mission. We're depending on you.
All Dymn Fragments that you'd collected had opened the Gate of Tangram. It's time to end this once and for all!
This episodes is separated into 6 mini episodes:
NOTE: Some episodes have different name between Jap/US versions. The Japanese versions are on the left.
"FORBIDDEN CORRIDOR"
1st Part: The door in front of you is guarded by two laser turrets. Ignore them and destroy the door. Don't ignore
         them completely though, they'll shoot you with beam shots and lasers alternately.
2nd Part: A MLTN FF will descend, after destroying it, a MLTN CF will come. Destroy it to proceed to the next
         area.
3rd Part: This is easy. Just air dash to the next platform when the electric gate is off, being careful not to
         fall (you'll eat major damage, but if you're alive, get to the nearest portal to get back on the
         platform). Destroy the door at the end to gain access to the next area.
4th Part: Upon entering, a MLTN FF will rise from below the platform. Defeat it to have another MLTN FF. After
         beating this guys up a MLTN CF will descend to the center of the area. Destroy it to end this
         mini-episode.
"FULL METAL ORBS"/ "CONTACT"
1st Part: Dymn orbs are appearing everywhere, and they'll respawn, so clear just a number of them, then head to
         the door, which is obviously tougher than those you'd encountered before.
2nd Part: After going through the door and a short passageway, there'll be 3 Dymn orbs waiting for  you in the
         next room. Destroy all of them and a Dymn Arm will burst through the door in front. This mini-episode
         will end upon his death.
"HEAVEN'S THUNDER"
1st Part: Destroy 8 Dymn orbs and the door will open. They won't respawn here though.
2nd Part: Dymn Worm will appear upon your entrance. The gate will open upon your victory.
3rd Part: The cannon is right infront of you, some Dymn Orbs will keep you busy, but be sure to fire into the
         cannon's barrel, that's the only way to do damage on it.
        you. Nothing can be done.
Dymon  : Marz. I have dealt with your base. You're next!
"SOLID STYLE ARMANENT"/ "TAKING ARMS"
This Episode requires you to go through three rooms; each keeping a variant of STRTS.
Destroy them all to end this mission. (See Opponent's Section)
B) Challenge Mode:                                                                                     #CHALLENGE
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-
Good Stuffs: Well shortened version of dramatic mode, without unnecessary prolonged loading times.
Bad Stuffs : You can't have 2 players Co-op here; just you and the lousy AI.
The simplified version of story mode, aka arcade mode. This mode has exactly the same gameplay like VO: Force,
but set in the MARZ universe. Enjoy the high mobility battles freely and simply with the battle regulations of
the arcade’s VO: Force such as 2-On-2 and 'Leader system' in this mode.
There are several difficulty levels so that players can challenge the game and play over and over again: Normal,
Hard, Very Hard, Time Attack. The "Records" is for you to view the records of best time set in all the difficulty
levels.
The enemies in Very Hard mode are more likely to lock-on to you more often.
VRs unlocked in Dramatic mode is usable here, but the supporting VR can only be those of non-commander units.
Unlike the dramatic mode, the select button will now be used as the rescue dash, where you'll automatically dash
to the general direction of your KO'ed partner.
And no, you can't select your colours here.
Good Stuffs: You can kick your friend's VR in the ass, you both of you join forces to kick asses ^^u
Bad Stuffs : 30 fps for 2 player with 2 AI battles can be annoying. It's like playing VO: OMG on a Pentium 1 PC
            with 16MB RAM without acceleration.
In this mode players can battle against each other with the vertical split screen system .
The rules are exactly the same as VO: Force.
Two players can also cooperate and battle against AI opponent with the 'Leader system'. The players can change the
settings flexibly such the VRs, the  accompanying VR, time limit and number of sets. If you're playing alone or
going head-to-head with your friend, you'll remain the team leader.
Else, if you're playing a co-op battle, you'll switch places with your friend for the leader position (Round1 P1
is the leader, P2 gets to be leader in Round2). A set of new stages had been added that is not available in VO:
Force.
When setting the player type, you can choose from 1P, 2P, AI or "NoVR". "NoVR" means, well, no VR, which is only
for partner VRs (unavailable for leader position).
The NoVR is replaced with a "-" in the US version.
If all player type are set to AI, a special "Live Monitor" match ensues with spectator camera angle.
Select your preferred stage, time limit and number of rounds. Select "Start" to begin. VRs unlocked in dramatic
mode can be used here. However, you can't get to choose the color scheme in VS mode. The Select button is used as
the rescue dash. New stages will be unlocked depending on how far you'd progress in Dramatic mode.
I forgot to mention too, that you can go one-on-one if you like, one-on-two or a two-on-one battle, it's all your
choice.
EXTRA NOTES: "WHAT THE HELL IS THE LEADER SYSTEM!?"
For those who haven't heard about VO: Force's leader system, here's how it works: (In a default 2 round match)
The leader mech is the one that confirm the victory of the team. If the leader is killed, the team loses.
P1 gets to be the leader first in round 1, followed by the second mech in round 2. The rescue dash is used when
either VR get some damages (Leader or not), but if the support VR is KO'ed and the leader mech uses the
rescue dash, the enemy will get a jamming for a while, so they won't be able to lock on to you for a while (So
will you if the AI uses it). Pressing 'select' (default button config) will cause your VR to fly straight at
higher rated speed toward your KO'ed partner. When the leader mech gets inside the binary field, your life will be
brought over to your partner to balance out (IE: Leader= 60% Partner= 0%; balanced= 30%)
Items                                                                                                   #ITEMS
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
In Marz’s Dramatic mode, there are sometimes items for you to pick up when you destroy an opponent
VR or go near a box. This is the list of the items:
Crates------------------------------ These are placed all over some arenas, and they'll open up when you move
                                    close to them, revealing the items inside, which are the boost items,
                                    repair discs, or Data discs.
Speed (Blue Marz Logo)-------------- Causes your VR to move faster.
Attack (Red Marz Logo)-------------- Increases damage you do to opponents.
Protect (Green Marz Logo)----------- Increases defensive power, you’ll take less damage.
S.A. Guard (Purple Marz Logo)------- (Super Automatic Guard)Invincibility + Untouchable for a limited time
Lucky (Yellow Marz Logo)------------ Speed + Attack + Protect boost for a limited time
Fake (Brown Marz Logo)-------------- Negates the Lucky boost, and enemies will lock onto you more often even
                                    if there’s partner with you. Also, your CC attacks will sometimes  misses
                                    completely even though it is impossible (IE: No hit detection even you do a
                                    CW sword)
Repair Discs------------ Disc to regain the energy bar by 25%, use by pressing the select button (Dramatic Mode)
Data Discs(Jap Only)---- These looks like a repair disc in a case, and will get you more infos in the database.
Shadow Discs------------ Available during the Moon missions, apparently no usage.
Wild Crystals----------- Available during the Earth missions, apparently no usage.
Dymn Fragments---------- Available during the Dymn Chaos missions, also can be obtained by winning early battles
                        with the Three Sisters and Apharmd the Hatter before the Dymn Chaos missions.
                        Collecting 7 of these will bring you to the final area.
In VO: Marz, achieving a certain total of battle points will help to get you a promotion, as well as fulfilling
some part of the requirements to unlock certain VRs, usually the commander units. You'll start off as a
one-star soldier. Special thanks to Eizaz again for pointing out the background colors.
Mission Rankings------
----------------------
My, oh my...I forgot all about these due to the damned loading times in the game(Hmm...somewhat like a hypnotism).
Anyway, each time you'd completed a mission, a result screen will show up, stating all your points from the
mission. Each mission will be ranked SS-> E, depending on how well you performed in the mission.
There are quite alot of factors that will affect your ranks. As you can see in the result screen, your rank is
actually determined by the total of Battle Skill Points (take this as your EXP). The higher your BP, the better
ranks you get.
The factors that affects your BP:
Mission Bonus:---------- This bonus is mission type dependant, meaning that different type of missions will have
                        different bonuses. The harder the mission type (ie: defending towers from enemies), the
                        more bonus they offer.
Destroyed: VR----------- This is rewarded for how many VR opponents you'd destroyed. They're VR type dependant,
                        where the easiest VR to defeat will have low points. while those that are much harder
                        will have higher points. Shadow White Knight has the highest point: 150000 Points while
                        the lowest is Vox Lee: 800.
Destroyed: Extra Enemy-- Same as the one above, but this one is for special boss opponents (Non-VR).
Battle Skill Points:---- Your average battle skill point. This will be skill dependant; the more you go into CC
                        battles and evaded all enemies shots, the higher it'll be. But it'll be divided by the
                        numbers of enemies faced in that mission.
Life:------------------- Yup. Getting a minor scratch will cause you to lose over 1k of BP, so you don't wanna eat
                        too much of those. Perfect life will get you perfect total bonus.
                        Maximum value (perfect life) is 60000 Points.
Repair Discs:----------- This is a penalty. Using one repair disc will cost you 25000BP, so think twice whether
                        you really need to press that Select button.
Time:------------------ The faster you end the mission, the more points you get, and vice versa. So if you want
                       an SS rank, quit toying with that Vox Lee!
Difficulty:------------ The higher level of difficulty you're in, the more points you get..simple, isn't it?
                       Normal= 10000 Points; Hard= Points; Very Hard= Points; Ultimate= Points
Points (Final):-------- Your Final Points accumulated from those above. This will be set in the game's highscore.
Rank:------------------ Your battle rank (SS to E). This, however is only based on your Battle Skill Points above
                       and the number of times you'd use the repair discs.
Obviously, to obtain the best rank (SS), you'll need to do it fast, unscratch, defeat a large number of opponents,
playing on ultimate and use no repair discs. Though it is impossible to destroy 20+ VRs quick in Ultimate mode...
Though these are the obvious ones when it's your first time playing the game, but the moment you'd set the high
scores, things will be somewhat different.
Example:
I had SS rank, pretty high point in the very, very first mission (where you fight the Vox Lee). The second time
I play, i used my best tactics to end it quick and unscratched, but ends up having an A, and I'm damn sure that I
did it much quicker than the first time. So, what is missing?
My guess would be that Marz still holds the gameplay statistic system, but hidden from us players. In OT, this
system counts the number of times you press the triggers, the number of hits, the number of CC battles engaged and
the number of successive CCs (If I'm not wrong, there should be as well the number of hits taken and number of
guards used). So my assumption is, to get better ranks, you need not only to do it quick and perfect, but to get
all your shots in, and caught the enemies off guard in CC battles.
Opponents                                                                                               #ENEMY
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Here's the list of Special Opponents you'll encounter throughout the game:
Normal Opponents: Check Out my other VR Faqs for them...
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Special Opponents:
The Three Sisters of The Rose:
These are a trio of elite pilots of a commanding unit under ex-DNA's Overlord Difused Alfred de Anber IV, now the
commander of TSC Drammen, they were ordered directly by Anver to investigate, give infos and also battles with the
Special Mechanized Investigation unit, MARZ. The team is led by Captain Silvie Fang, the remaining two are 1st
Liutenant Jeniffer Poison and 1st Liutenant Deborah Bite. You'll meet them in several occasions:
Episode 2, Jupiter--
In the 2nd Area (Orbital Elevator, Descent Platform). If you succeed in rescuing Sergeant Hatter in the first
episode, he'll be fighting along with you. Else, it'll be a normal Apharmd J Type C. In this first encounter with
the three sisters, destroying two of them will trigger a short intermission where Captain Silvie Fang orders
Deborah and Jennifer to fight(She'll use a repair disc). All three sisters will be up and fighting again, but the
2 that you'd previously destroyed will have a lifebar that a two forward dash rifle shots from Temjin could clear.
Winning this fight will earn you a Red Dymn Fragment.
Episode 4, Earth--
After going through the first 3 stages, they'll be in the 4th area. This will be a similar battle, but destroying
one of them will trigger another short intermission where Hatter arrives to help you. This wouldn't be a tough
battle...Hatter seemingly got better. Jeniffer will give you a Wild Crystal when you win.
Dymn Chaos Missions--
After clearing all areas (Jupiter, Earth, Moon, Mars), you'll get to choose from these 4 areas again in order to
look for the Dymn Fragments. You'll meet them sometimes in the end of an area, defeating them will earn you a
Dymn Fragment. Losing to them, however, you'll lose a Dymn fragment.
******************************************************************************************************************
Apharmd the Hatter:
You'll be hearing news about him being captured/ missing in episode 1, and you'll eventually meet him in the final
area of that episode, being tied up to a cross (crucified?). You'll be rescuing him from Z-Gradt. That's for the
friendly part.
You'll encounter him during the Mars Mission (episode 5), when you are fighting in the SHBVD area. he'll either
enters during the intermission when you partner VR got demolished by the SHBVD, or right in the mission briefing
if both of you guys made it past the SHBVD Raidens. He'll be challenging you for a duel in Rentaria C-08: Central
City. Since he doesn't have any decent far-range capabilities other than the S. Bomb, tongfer beam and his hat,
he'll try to get close to you for a nice slash. Don't get close to him when he's doing a forward dash at you; he's
planning for a dash CC on you. Usually, giving him a barrage in far-range will do better than engaging him in CC,
which he's suppose to excel at.
The next time you'll see him again is in the Dymn Chaos Missions, where every matches with you as the victor will
get you the full set of repair discs (5 of them).
EXTRA NOTES: You can actually unlock that red color scheme by reaching 3000+ of VR frags (Just my guess).
******************************************************************************************************************
SHBVD's Gill and LDN custom Raidens (Gill & Leddon in US)
These two are from the Special Heavy Battle VR Division. Gill's Raiden [SVT(gfk)512E1] prefers to go into CC while
LDN [SVT(gfk)512E2] will back him up from afar. Gill is easy to lure, just let him get close to you, then dash
away and do a watari forward dash shot. LDN is easy to deal with.
They will also show up in the Dymn Chaos missions, giving you a Dymn Fragment everytime you win.
******************************************************************************************************************
White Knight- "Clairia Vaiasten's" Temjin 747 Type a8:
The reason that he fights you here on the moon is because he is suspicious about you being a possible Shadow VR.
He's just testing you. Since he's the best VR in the game, i suggest you to play defensively using the obstacles
to your advantage. Or you might as well complete Ultimate Mode first to get the 747a8 and give him a nice payback.
He can be really cheap when you're going against him; he'll be more likely to do the forward dash beam rifles on
you during your freeze time, and will always do the sidestep CC on you if you attempt to to so. Practically he's
good because he's a over-powered VR...(OT's Cypher will definitely kicks his white butt).
Oh yeah...now he's all that god-like cheesy White Knight, but wait till you have him as a partner, where his
skills are depleted to half of the original (Hell...he might even die fighting a Lee ^^u).
******************************************************************************************************************
Shadow VRs (Hyped up Normal VRs):
The shadow, the conscious form of insanity which occurs due to the spiritual interference effect which originates
in the structural defect of the V converter. The VR which was polluted to this has wonderful destructive power.
They only appears on the Moon, and they're almost as good as the white knight.
Ah...these enemies are much cooler than all the rest. They have these light trails effect when they move around,
much like the White Knight, except that they're Black in color and have magenta glows. To see some really, really
rare Shadow VRs (Common ones are Specineff, Vox, Myzr, Bal, Temjin, Apharmd, Fei-Yen, and Raiden), use your
'rare' VRs when you're going to the final mission on the moon (Nirvana). You can have a Shadow variant of the
747a8, Fair Bianca and yes...Shadow Guarayakha to go against you. Not to forget the Lees/Loos.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Boss Opponents:
Jaguarandi
He's back! Now's he's bigger and meaner, they gave him air dash and CC capabilities!
LW: Buster L (Explosive bouncing ball that disables all your weapons)
CW: TFC Eraser (8 way lasers)
RW: Buster R (Gigantic Fireball shots)
You'll meet him On Earth, in the TSC areas after you'd collected 8 wild crystals. If you perform well in previous
missions before getting to him, you'll be fighting two at once, the purple Jag and the pink Jag. Otherwise, if you
get ranks lower than A in previous missions, you'll fight one instead. However, losing to Jag for 6 times (that's
retrying 5 times, not the manual retry but official ones when you got KO'ed) will bring in the White Knight to
help you out.
Extra Notes:
"Jaguarandi is a bug in the VR test sim. It's theorized that Jag was created by the spirit of a child trapped in
cyberspace. There are conflicting sources that say wether it's a boy or girl. Most of them tend to say it's a boy
though. Jag was decided to be left in for data collection and advanced training."--Source: VR ELI
******************************************************************************************************************
Z-Gradt
A returning boss from VOOM, still the same but somewhat improved strategy. The floating mines will slow you down
if they hit. He takes in very little damage during the grey state, but when he's charging for the cannon mode
(gold in color), he'll eat the usual beatings. The annoyance is in the ring lasers. You can't CC him though...
Weapons: Twin Ring Lasers, rapid shots, phalanx, Floating mines, Z-Cannon
He'll start off releasing mines at you, so just dash sideways to one side, then doing a watari forward while
shooting him with your main weapon to center him in your lock-on. Next, he'll be using his rapid laser shots,
which will most likely to miss you if you do the same (sidedash, watari forward dash attack). The next set of
rings is the real pain, which is impossible to avoid completely (You'll get hit once or twice even if you're
really good), but they're not really painful. His last resort will be the Z-Cannon, where he turns into gold and
starts to unfold the cannon. He'll be taking a lot of damage here, so fire at will with your strongest attacks.
The cannon will revolve though, so get real close to him so you'll know where to go; follow his direction of
revolving (that's either clockwise or anti-clockwise).
If by chance you meet one during the Dymn Chaos Missions, he might drop 2 Dymn Fragments if you win.
Extra Notes:
Z-Gradt is a part of the same automated defense mechanisms similar to Bradtos(which was created by Tangram to
guard the 4th Plant's V-Crystal) at the plant on the moon that the first plant created. It's not "equipped" with
the Solar Cannon; the Solar Cannon is a Moon-orbiting superweapon. Z-Gradt just happens to have a giant beam
cannon as part of its standard load. Z-Gradt, much like Bradtos, is not a "true" VR; it apparently disappears
after OMG and reappears via some sort of Reverse-Convert during Marz.
However, Z-Gradt suddenly gained AI and gained control of all the VR's at the plant. The DN corporation decided to
cover up the situation and opted to only send in one lone VR to stop Z-Gradt and the solar cannon. It was revieled
later that Z-Gradt had never gained AI at all, and it was faked by the renegade faction of DN, RNA. Members of RNA
took control of Z-Gradt and the VR's and tricked DN into destroying their own plant.
A-jim & Guerlain
Appears in the Final Area: Crystal Ovary (Episode 2: Jupiter)
They're no longer playable characters, and they come in pairs, A-Jim is the red/blue guy, while Guerlain, his
female counterpart appears to be yellow with double ponytails.
Weapons (A-jim)   : Mini Blue Crystals, Monochrome orbs, Giant Red Crystals
Weapons (Guerlain): Mini Pink crystals, Monochrome orbs, Giant Purple Crystals
The mini crystals will hang on to you for a moment to slow you down while doing small amount of damage, the more
hanging on you, the slower you are. The giant crystals will disable all your weapons for a brief moment, as well
as knocking you off your feet.
When the meet up in the center field, they'll spin around and merged into a Giant Blue V-Crystal. This will be
shooting spread lasers at you but they can easily avoided by dashing sideways. Once their life is 50% or less
(i think), the spread lasers will be replaced with multi-reflective lasers that comes from the 4 crystals on all
corners, which rarely hit you unless you're standing still.
******************************************************************************************************************
MLTN (MOLTON in US)
These are mini Z-Gradts that are much smaller and hovers around instead of walking with four legs.
MLTN TF  : Missile Pack Type, which fires tons of missiles on you. It has the turbo versions, too, where they pause
          for a while to track you before taking off. They're actually easy to avoid, as they're really slow.
MLTN FF  : Buster R type, comes with 2 cannon-like launchers on both sides of the 'head'. These fire shots similar
          to Jaguarandi's normal Buster R shots.
MLTN FP  : Explosives Type, which fires a good number of phalanx and napalms for defense. For offense, it'll use
          the homing beams which is fired in a fan-formation.
MLTN CF  : Spread Laser Type, the full frontal-4 formation will stun you). To avoid getting hit, get behind this
          guy.
All of them has ring lasers alternatives, the 6-way homing lasers, the 360 degrees homing beams, and the Tracking
blue orb which is release during the gold mode.
Once their life are below 50%, the blue orb with be replaced with a giant tracking purple orb that deal more
damage, as well as disabling all your weapons for a limited time. Unlike Z-Gradt, you can engage CC on them to end
the battle a lot quicker.
******************************************************************************************************************
DYMN (DYMON in US)
Dymn Orb
Just the orb, these fires pink spread lasers that disable your auto lock-on for a while. Usually appear in groups.
Dymn Arm
This version will swing around, shooting mini pink shots that'll slow you down. When he landed on a spot, he'll
shoot out a lot of pink dymn bombs. Don't get too near though, or he'll spin his arms around to knock you off.
Dymn Worm
This version looks almost similar to the Dymn Arm, but instead off shooting the dymn bombs, this one will shoot
spread lasers that deals immense damage on you while disabling your auto lock on.
******************************************************************************************************************
STRTS (STRATOS in US)
A Bradtos variant. There are 3 types:
The normal spread laser type, the sweeping trio laser type and the double type. The rectangular lasers will stun
you if they hit.
1) Spread Laser type: This is the same as OT's Bradtos, and it takes real puny damage during the grey state.
                     Moment of vulnerability is when he opens up to shoot you with the spread lasers. Avoid them
                     by walking left or right while shooting.
2) Sweep Type       : This is new, unlike the spread laser type, this one has 3 dymn orbs inside, each fires a
                     laser, and they revolve inside the main body. Jump cancel to avoid this attack.
3) Double type      : The real nightmare. This is 2 separate bodies; the top half is the spread laser type, while
                     the bottom half is the sweep type. The pattern of vulnerability is like this:
After the whole sets of normal attacks (CDs, rapid beams and rectangular lasers), either one will launch another
set of CDs, let's say for example, the top half releases the second set of CDs. This means the bottom half will be
vulnerable for shots (as well as doing the sweep lasers). Same goes if the lower half releases the second CD set,
the top half will be vulnerable.
******************************************************************************************************************
Tangram
Typically appears with the "eye" open.
Weapons            : Ring Lasers, Spread Lasers, "Eye-drop" Wave, Tangram Cannon.
She'll starts attacking you with her clusters of ring lasers, which will slow you down if they hit. Next, she'll
use her spead lasers on you, so dash sideways to avoid them. Your objective in this mission is to free her arms
(Yes, she's not a baddy, she's being manipulated by Dymn) locked by the RST units. It'll be hard if you just
lock-on to her arms while the eye is splashing beams on you, so go and attack the eye till its life is 0%, and
you'll automatically locked onto the nearest arm. Break it free with your CC attacks, then move on to the second.
Don't be careless thinking that she'll not bother you anymore; While you're slashing away at the third arm, you'll
hear her let out a small cry, and she'll drop a energy orb to the ground that covers the whole ground with pinkish
glow. Jump high into the air, and you'll be flipped upside down to the ceiling. Should she be using the energy
'eye-drop' twice, just jump again to avoid it. Lock-on to her to attack her again.
Please note that when you're on the ceiling, your left and right controls will be inverted (Not actually inverted,
just that pressing left will make you go to the right side of the screen; the VR will still go to his left, that
is, if you wanna turn your TV upside down). There are just a total of 6 arms to break free; 3 on the ground and
another 3 on the ceiling.
Just be careful when she fires the cannon, to avoid this, just get behind her. This is probably the easiest boss
battle you'll ever encounter in VO: MARZ.
VOICE OF TANGRAM (Virtual-On: Oratorio Tangram) Source: Quad/ Scott Robinson
Good bye...
As I use a human voice to speak, I am a mere interval.
As I open the door of fate, I am the river of time...
As the one who knows the future, I am the twilight...
Anguished, delighted, bored, comforted, excited, angered, and all alone...
With 7 hearts I am the envious Tangram.
With the truth so far, I've lost all hope and despair.
Good bye.
This world shall disappear. It was all I could do...
Life will go on, for new encounters...
I'm glad, I met you...
Non-VR Destroyables: Dymn Turrets, Trailers, Towers, The Solar Cannon, Doors, Missile launch pad & Ground Mines.
Dymn Stoopas       : These are green in colour, mainly look like an ordinary Dymn Orb strapped in a tower case and
                    shoots red explosive beam at you at regular interval that will disable your auto lock on for
                    a while.
Trailers           : Appear only in some Earth missions, either defending yours or attacking enemies'. These are
                    non-offensive and non-defensive. If you're on the offensive side, you'll usually need to
                    destroy 4 or 5. On the defending side, you'll be defending them till 4 of them exit through
                    the other gateways.
Towers(Defenders)  : Probably generates power for the gates in the area. You'll either end up defending yours or
                    destroying the opponents'.
Missile Launcher   : Located deep in the maze on Mars, this is just another passive destroyables. Destroy it and
                    you'll complete Episode 5.
Ground Mines       : These are available on Mars, looks like Raiden's G Bomb, but packs extreme damage. They'll
                    surface when you walk near them, with an unique sound to distinguish them easily. New mines
                    will appear after a certain moment you'll know it when you see some areas on the ground glow
                    in pink. These are the locations of the newly planted mines. They could do damage on the
                    opponents as well, so you can try to trigger them by walking close, then jump away when they
                    explode.
Doors              : Some doors need to be blast open, right?
The Solar Cannon   : Only available in the episode "Heaven's Thunder". To damage it, shoot directly into the
                    cannon barrel. While you're at it though, some Dymn Orbs will pester you.
Intro movie with more Sound Effects:
======================================
Just heard this from the message board in Gamefaqs. Apparently you can hear Hatter's usual comments during the
game in the intro movie.
To see/hear it, you'll have to complete dramatic mode, and after you'd save all datas (or didn't), you'll be back
in the main menu. Now wait for the movie to show up (usually, you'll see the game demo first). The intro movie
will be back to normal if you reset your PS2 (that means ending your game session completely)
======================
Time Reset Cheating:
======================
Found this one while scouting Eizaz's FAQ (GYAHH! NO! Don't kill me!! ^^). In some missions where the area is
separated into multiple battle arenas (IE: EP2 Jupiter Mission4), hitting the RETRY manually in the last area will
reset the mission time while placing you in the last area. This means you can get better ranks for faster time.
Of course, the RETRY counts is still there....wait till you see them in the final results.
Have fun!
A quote on 'Jupiter, the Bringer of Jollity' from London Symphony Orchestra, Holst The Planets;
conducted by Sir Colin Davis booklet:
"If Mercury is mercurial, Jupiter is certainly jovial. There are two hearty dance-tunes for the six horns in
unison (the first with the strings) and a big masetoso tune- the work's most famous- in the central section.
Holst's daughter Imogen relates how, at the Queen's Hall in 1918, 'during Jupiter the charwomen working in the
corridors put down their scrubbing brushes and began to dance'."
Q & A Section                                                                                             #???
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Q: What is Marz? (Story wise)
A: An independent special investigation unit.
Q: How the hell do you get Hatter to help you in the missions AFTER the first Rose Sisters encounter?
A: Let Hatter get killed by Z-Gradt when you're suppose to rescue him, then lose the battle with the Rose Sisters.
Q: What do you mean by "Dymn Chaos Missions"?
A: I made up that name, it's the missions when you get to choose the planets/areas, I don't wanna call them the
  "Planet Selecting Missions".
Q: During the Dymn Chaos missions, what do the percentage on the top right, the numbers in the area description as
  well as the colour boxes mean?
A: The Percentage is the amount Dymn has started to manipulate Tangram (I think), if you fail to collect all 7
  dymn fragments before it reaches 100%, the game will be over and you'll have to reload the game from a save
  file again. The number in the area's description is the number of battles including the boss battle, which all
  areas have in the end. The colour boxes is the probability of getting a Dymn Fragment.
Q: What are the use of the wild crystals and the shadow discs?
A: None, you just collect them until a certain amount, the story goes on the same.
Q: What are the ranks available?
A: SS, S, A, B, C, D and E
Q: How do i unlock the extra VRs?
A: You'll have to fulfill certain requirements. Check out the VR list in the separated VR in-depth guide FAQ.
Q: Who the hell are you?
A: Who wants to know? ^^;
Q: Why do you like VO?
A: I'm an insane anime freak, especially mech freak, that's why.
Q: What other stuffs you like other than VO?
A: Zone Of The Enders, Initial D Arcade Stage ver2, Dead or Alive, Metal Gear Solid, Resident Evil, Silent Hill,
  Guilty Gear, and whole lots of animes.
Q: How long have you been in VO?
A: Let's see now, i got the PC version way back in August 1997, that would be...6 years? 1 year in VOOM, I
  discovered VOOT when i'm studying in Form 2 (That's after playing a whole set of VOOM till I'm out of game
  money), and have been on it for the next five years, still on it.
Q: 5 years? You're lying...
A: No I'm not...you can still find me in Sg. Wang's VOOT every Saturday ^^u.
Q: Who the heck is "YWM" in the Sg. Wang's VOOT best time?
A: Me. Me, me, me.....me too....^^
Q: What is your level of expertise in VOOT, in your POV?
A: No idea...haven't got enough challengers nowadays to find out, but i can win sometimes using the handicapped
  RNA side (LT & LW spoiled).
Q: How much have you spend your time in VO: Marz?
A: 20+ hours on Normal, and around 5 hours+ total of Hard, V. Hard and Ultimate. All around, 25+ Hours.
Q: You're a freak!
A: Yay! I'm a freak! :P
Japanese Version VS NTSC U/C Version                                                                  #COMPARE
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Okay, I've finally laid my hand on the US version of Marz, and I'm sad to say that it actually sucks much more
than it's japanese counterpart. Below are the list of differences between the two versions:
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
Japanese
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
1. Talks in Japanese with talented voice actors/actresses who give the game characters life.
2. Hatter sounds to be in his mid 30's or 40's, with the long THAAAAAAAAANK YOOOOOOOUU!! when you rescued him.
3. Guarayakha(s) goes "Gomen!(Sorry!)" everytime you destroy one.
4. There's data disc to be collected, as well as the database where all main stories were told.
5. Names are unique to go with the VO tradition of non-vowels names.
6. It gives players a great feeing eventhough you don't know what the hell they're saying, but they sound just too
  cool and makes the story seems interesting enough to make players think they know a bit of japanese :P
7. Obviously there can't be any spelling errors in the Japanese language....
8. In the final episodes, the mission titles were:
  a) Forbidden Corridor
  b) Full Metal Orbs
  c) W-Fren-Z
  d) Heaven's Thunder
  e) Solid Style Armanents
  f) Final Sphere
  The announcer of these titles sounds much cooler in a digital way.
9. Playing this version makes you wanna learn japanese in order to know what's in the database.
10. The AI is good, and well-balanced in some terms.
11. During the Dymn Chaos Missions, each missions has their episode titles.
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
NTSC U/C
= = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =
1. Talks in English with some coming from the ZOE2 cast, but in a way where they make your ears bleeds everyime
  you listen to their crappy slangs and quality of their job.
2. Hatter sounds like (what I'm afraid of had come true) a good-ol'-your-friendly-neighbourhood-cowboy-in-his-
  early-twenties Sherriff, and they took away the long THAAAANK YOOUU~~ and replaced it with a short "THANKS."
3. Guarayakhas are muted.
4. There's no more database. To hell with Hitmaker, that is one awful decision made only to cause them lose more
  customers.
5. Some character's names are re-spelled according to the way they're read:
  DYMN----> DYMON
  LDN-----> Leddin
  MLTN----> Molton (It's MILTON, goddamnit!!)
  STRTS---> Stratos
6. Americanization took place, the narrations were distorted from the original japanese version to make it more to
  the west side (IE: A phrase "Something Wonderful" was notably removed, and they do talk less that those in the
  Jap version). Virtual Century was called Virtual Era.
7. Stupid spelling errors due to stupid translators who obviously can't read katakana right. They spelt VITAL as
  "BITAL"....(WTF is THAT!!?). And in one of the briefings, RETURN was spelt as "RETRUN"...Nice try.
8. In the final episodes, the mission titles were (how uncreative!):
  a) Forbidden Corridor
  b) Contact
  c) Wild Frenzy
  d) Heaven's Thunder
  e) Taking Arms
  f) Final Sphere
  The announcer of these titles sounds like Sally from the ol' VOOT days, in order to make the title clear.
9. Playing this version makes you wanna thrash the controller on yourself for buying it.
10. The AI seems to be tweaked and is more cheesier.
11. During the Dymon Chaos Missions, each missions were simply "First Mission, Second Mission, Third Mission.....
   Last Mission".
12. I wonder if those translators think us english readers as "too dumb to understand what a japanese thinks"?
13. No offense, but in the briefing section for the "Final Sphere" episode, Dymon sounds like a evil, demented,
   mind-f**ked serial rapist. Seriously.
