              Short Review
-----------------------------------------------------------
Cricket 2002 for the pc is well a cricket game for the pc arriving after
more than 2 years from its previous version.so has anything changed?
yes quiet a lot from previous game now u have more control over the
game than any other cricket game.lets take a look at the different
aspects of the game in short

1) GRAPHICS
With EA on the job everyone expected that it would be another graphicaL
genius but but but.....the game's graphics are just bout decent though
stadiums are all accurately modelled but the players look like
hmm...........(no words to describe).but to ea's credit the players faces
look slightly like their real life counterparts and the animations too
are not what you normally expect from EA and the crowd are nothing
more than cardboard cutouts but overall the graphics are just bout okay
SCORE :6

2) SOUND
Again people expected some thing special (and that includes me too) in
the commentary but again it dissapoints .Richie Benaud and Jim Maxwell
do the commentary though ea's official site states that bill lawry's
in too but i can't hear him ,can u?. anyway when the commentators
speak its justplain and bland and gets repetitive very very soon
even the crowd sounds are bad ,yes i mean it they are just plain bad
,its as if the crowds watching a snooker match rather than a cricket match
SCORE :5

3) GAMEPLAY
The most important part of the game and yes EA does succed this time this
is where they went wrong in their last 2 attempts at cricket game ,but they
make up for it though.instead of point and click method of CWC99 and
C2000 EA have gone for an updated control scheme of Brian Lara Cricket
and have done it to near perfection.kudos to ea on doing something right
,although the bowling could have been better
(u cant swing the ball for fast bowlers) though but still a good effort
SCORE :8

4) MODES
EA does it again after a good gameplay they have added tones of modes
for cricket lovers to enjoyand that includes from World cup,
knockout tournament,test series,sharjah and practice nets although
the classic matches are missing but still these modes add a lot of
value to the game
SCORE :8

5) MISC
The game also has a player editor which is useless but some nice stats
can be seen during the match which cannot be saved unfortunately
,speedometer and a nice LBW replay feature  and some unlockable teams
,modes and stadium.
SCORE :6

OVERALL
If u are a cricket lover u have no option but to buy this(cause no
other new cricket games are available)but if u dont like cricket stay
away far away cause thers nothing eye candy here it all
but strong gameplay and a variety of game modes make this
game worthy of a cricket lovers cash
SCORE :7
-----------------------------------------------------------
Known Bugs
-----------------------------------------------------------
Okay first things first none of the bugs affect the stability of the game
and not even the gameplay too much but there are bugs,bugs,bugs
everywhere in this game they are so long that i cant put them here to
have a look goto the cricket 2002 official forums at
www.easports.com.au
or other forums like
blc.sports-gaming.com/c2002

-----------------------------------------------------------
Controls
-----------------------------------------------------------
these are my custom controls
W -- UP
S -- DOWN
A -- LEFT
D -- RIGHT
K -- FRONT FOOT SHOT
I -- BACK FOOT SHOT
J -- DUCK/CANCEL RUN
K -- ADVANCE/START RUN        (ADVANCE--DOWN THE TRACK)
SPACE-- POWERBOOST

-----------------------------------------------------------
SHOTS
-----------------------------------------------------------
Cricket 2002 is the only cricket game where u have complete controls of ur
shots u can play it of the front or back foot  and yes u can also come down
the track a smash a few slower bowlers out of the park
here are the full range of shots u can play

S+K=FRONT FOOT DRIVE
SD+K=COVERDRIVE
D+K=CUT SHOT
DW+K=LATE CUT
W+K=DEFENSIVE (FRONT FOOT)
WA+K=SWEEP
A+K=FLICK
AS+K=ONDRIVE(FRONT FOOT)
S+I=BACK FOOT DRIVE
DS+I=COVER DRIVE(BACK FOOT)
D+I=CUT(BACK FOOT)
WD+I=LATE CUT(BACK FOOT)
W+I=DEFENSE(BACK FOOT)
WA+I=HOOK
A+I=FLICK
AS+I=ONDRIVE(BACK FOOT)

Using these types of shots with advance button will yeild different
shots which can be very useful if played properly
using these combinations with the power boost button will allow the batsmen
to hit the ball over the top although risky but should provide some
quick runs

-----------------------------------------------------------
BOWLERS
-----------------------------------------------------------
FAST(RIGHT/LEFT)
MEDIUM FAST(RIGHT/LEFT)
SWING(RIGHT/LEFT)
OFF SPIN(RIGHT)/SLOW LEFT ARM
LEG SPIN(RIGHT)/LEFT ARM CHINAMEN

All these bowlers have different qualities hers a detailed description

Using WASD Place the cursor then press the following buttons
for different deliveries
-----------------------------------------------------------
FAST/MEDIUM FAST
-----------------------------------------------------------
K=NORMAL
J =LEG OR OFF CUTTER
L =SLOW
I =NORMAL
-----------------------------------------------------------
SWING
-----------------------------------------------------------
K=NORMAL
J =OUTSWING
L =INSWING
I =NORMAL
-----------------------------------------------------------
OFFSPIN/SLOW LEFT ARM
-----------------------------------------------------------
K =OFFSPIN
L =OFFSPIN
I =STRAIGHT
-----------------------------------------------------------
LEGSPIN/CHINAMEN
-----------------------------------------------------------
K =LEGSPIN
J =LEGSPIN
L =GOOGLY
I =FLIPPER

During bowling u must remember that the bowlers power
boost must not go over the top line or it will be a no ball

-----------------------------------------------------------
GAME MODES
-----------------------------------------------------------
1) WORLD CUP
Well its the world cup 12 teams one winner
starts as 2 groups of 6 and then to super six finally to the semi final
and then the final
winner opens some locked bonus

No of teams are up to u but the australian team is compulsory as it is the
some side u can select it thought played as a league and top 2 qualify
for best of 3 final

It is basically a knockout, 8 teams, winner qualifies loser goes home.

5) SHARJAH

6) NETS
Hone ur batting and bowling skills here
good place to start learning the game

NOTE:- TO OPEN LOCKED TEAMS AND TOURNAMENTS U MUST NOT USE
THE AUTOPLAY DURING THE TOURNAMENT WHICH REQUIRES U TO
PLAYIT TO OPEN THE LOCKED GOODS
-----------------------------------------------------------
TEAMS
-----------------------------------------------------------
1) WEST INDIES
2) AUSTRALIA
3) INDIA
4) PAKISTAN
5) ENGLAND
6) SOUTH AFRICA
7) SRI LANKA
8) ZIMBABWE
9) NEW ZEALAND
10) KENYA
11) BANGLADESH
12) SCOTLAND
AND SOME BONUS TEAMS WHICH ARE LOCKED

Each team consists of 20 players each
-----------------------------------------------------------

BATTING
-----------------------------------------------------------
1)Try to get the timing right ,playing the shot oo early
or too late might prove fatal
2)Always watch the ball closely the cpu bowls the slowerball
a lot of time ,if u dont pick it u might lob an easy catch
3)Playing the yorker can be difficult ,but play the sweep
and u will keep the bowl off your stumps
4)Always play the ball according to the length (i.e dont try
to play a short ball of ur front foot ) if u do your batsmen
might just taste some leather
5)When coming down the track to the spinner always be in line
with the ball so even if the ball misses ur bat it might hit
ur body and save u from stumping

BOWLING
-----------------------------------------------------------
1)Always bowl as straight as possible and right at the stumps
2)The best bowler in the game is the fast bowler ,bowl yorkers
and get ur rewards
3)Bowling in test matches can be very difficult as well as
very frustrating so pick variety of bowlers in ur team
4)Conditions also affect the way the ball seams and
swings for ur swing bowlers
-----------------------------------------------------------

PITCH
-----------------------------------------------------------

1)NORMAL
IS GOOD FOR BATTING AS WELL AS BOWLING WITH AVERAGE BOUNCE
AND AT DECENT PACE WITH LITTLE TURN

2)DRY
HAS LOTS OF BOUNCE AND PACE GOOD FOR FAST BOWLERS,NICE BATTING SURFACE

3)HARD
GOOD PACE AND GOOD BOUNCE ,EXCELLENT BATTING TRACK WITH NOT
MUCH BOWLING HELP

4)DUSTY
AGAIN VERY GOOD FOR BATTING BUT IS A SPINNERS PARADISE,BIG TURN
AT GOOD BOUNCE,POOR FOR FAST BOWLERS

5)GREEN
EXCELLENT BOWLING SURFACE FOR SEAM AND SWING BOWLERS ,WITH
OVERCAST CONDITIONS THIS CAN BECOME A BATSMANS NIGHTMARE

6)DAMP AND WET
NOT MUCH DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE TWO  LOW BOUNCE SLOW
OUTFIELD AND A BOWLERS PARADISE

-----------------------------------------------------------
CONDITIONS

CLOUD
The amount of cloud actually determines the amount of swing and seam
movement you get in the air (not of the pitch).the more the movement
more help for the bowler and makes batting difficult

TEMPERATURE
There are differnt temperature levels but i dont think they make a
difference though as there is no fatigue level .

RAIN
There is an option but you cannot change it .it is normally set
to none and as the name suggests there is no rain at all

Ball Condition (test matches only)

   Overs       Seam     Swing     Spin     Bounce

-----------------------------------------------------------
  New to 15    High     High      Slight     High

-----------------------------------------------------------
  16 to 30     Normal   High      Normal   Normal
-----------------------------------------------------------
  31 to 50     Very
               Little   Normal    Normal   Normal
-----------------------------------------------------------
  50 to 75     Nil      Very      Normal   Normal
                        Little
-----------------------------------------------------------
  75 to 95     Nil      Nil      Normal   Low
-----------------------------------------------------------
  95 to old    Nil      Nil      Very     Low
                                  Little
-----------------------------------------------------------
The pitches also play a part on how much and how little the ball will do
(eg. the normalspin  on a dusty wicket would be lots of spin)
(THANX TO HAMISH RYAN FOR THIS)
-----------------------------------------------------------
