01) VERSION CONTENTS
- Welcome.  I'm proud to do this FAQ again for another Gundam game in the Battle
 Assault series.  I wrote a FAQ in early 2004 for Gundam Battle Assault 2 and
 now I'm back doing a FAQ for Battle Assault 3.  And, believe me, it's a lot of
 work.  So just sit back and read.  Hope this FAQ will help you through the
 game!

02) INTRODUCTION
In the year Cosmic Era 70, war has broken out between the Earth Alliance and its
offworld PLANT (Productive Location Alley on Nexus Technology) colonies.  This
is not a war that will be decided by armies and armadas.  Instead, the battle is
in the hands of small groups of warriors, piloting powerful suits of mechanized
armor: Gundam.  On one side of the conflict, Kira Yamato defends Earth in his
Strike Gundam; on the other, Athrun Zala, who was once Kira's closest friend,
uses the stolen Aegis Gundam to fight for the forces of PLANT.

Battle Assault 3: Featuring Gundam SEED takes you into the heart of war and puts
you in control of a suit of Gundam armor.  Live the hit anime series "Gundam
SEED" as one of its main characters and defeat all who stand before you!

03) CONTROLS
MS MOVEMENT - Left Analog/Directional buttons.
DASH/RUN - Double-tap to dash.  Hold Forward the second time to run.
*LIGHT ATTACK (LA) - Triangle
*STRONG ATTACK (SA) - Circle
*FIRE - Square
*GUARD - Back or R1 button
AERIAL DASH - Down, Forward + Jump
*JUMP/THRUST - X.  Hold X the second time to hover.
GRAB/THROW - Press LA + SA.  You can grab an object and throw it by pressing LA
            or SA.  Some objects can be used as weapons, too.
*SWITCH TARGET - L1.  In Tag team Mode, press L1 to tag your MS.
*ABILITY - R1.  See Skill Shields on the Battle Screen.
REAL-TIME PROGRAMMING UPGRADE - SELECT.  See Version Upgrade on the Battle
                               Screen.
ULTIMATE ATTACK - Down, Forward + LA & SA.
DUAL HYPER ATTACK - Down, Forward twice + Fire; it can only be used with a MS
                   partner. Move the gun sight to target the enemy mobile suit
                   and fire away!
* - You can change settings in the Option Menu.

04) BATTLE SCREEN
ARMOR/BATTLE GAUGE
- The gauge has 3 types, depending on what MS you use.
 TYPE 1 - Normal Battle Armor
 TYPE 2 - 50% Battle Armor; 50% Armor
 TYPE 3 - Armor gauge

POWER SYSTEM GAUGE
- This gauge uses up for Weapon fire and Thrusters.  If the gauge is empty, it
 will overheat and will recharge for a time.

SKILL SHIELDS
- You can use these for a variety of Skills.  Aside from Ultimate Attacks, you
 can also use it for Ability and Dual Hyper Attack if you have two mobile
 suits.

VERSION UPGRADES
- This is a new element in the series.  Press SELECT and you will see a code
 temporarily in place of your energy gauge.  Follow the inputs and your MS will
 be upgraded.  Here's how it runs down:
 Ver.1 - Short-Range upgrade
 Ver.2 - Long-Range upgrade
 Ver.3 - Power System Gauge (to prevent from overheat quickly)
 Ver.4-9 - Repairs your BA/PSA.

TIMER
- Located at the top center of the screen; on Mission Mode, it will appear on
 Time Attack Mission and Time Limit Mission.  You can choose this option of 60,
 90 or no seconds in Versus or Tag Team modes.  In Survival Mode, it will
 display as your number of wins.

PLAYER DISPLAY
- Gauges will be displayed on the left side (1 on top; 1 on bottom) and another
 set will be the same on the right side.  On Tag Team Mode, your MS partner's
 Gauge appears at the top bottom of the current gauge, partially covering the
 Version Upgrade # display; your partner's gauge will appear when switched.

05) GAME MODES
MISSION MODE (3 Chapters)
- Take on tasks based on difficulty: Trainee, Rookie, Pilot, Veteran and Ace.

SURVIVAL
- Beat against other mobile suits in a battle for survival.

VERSUS
- A one-on-one battle between mobile suits; you can challenge a computer, a
 friend or the computer will randomly duke it out.

TIME TRIAL
- You and a partner will battle two-on-two battles in this 5-Stage Time Trial.
 Think you can beat them the fastest?

TAG TEAM
- Two mobile suits will duke it out in this two-on-two tag team match.

08) HINTS & STRATEGY
MISSION
- I suggest finishing the game first.  After beating the game, you can go back,
 repeat and go to other Missions that you haven't gone yet.  There are some
 secret Missions waiting to unlock.  If you land on a Time Attack Mission
 (that's the green point), beat the enemy or enemies within the assigned time
 (see Missions) above; if it reaches the orange mark, it will not take you
 there even if you beat it.  If you beat the Time Attack Mission, Murrue or
 Andrew will tell you that a new course is opened; I suggest going there first
 (you can always come back for other Missions later).  If you completed a
 Phase, a red Haro marker will appear on Mission menu to know that you've been
 completed it.

- If you are defeated, the Archangel/Eternal will receive damage.  The game's
 over if they take 100% damage.  However, if you survive through the Phase, the
 Archangel/Eternal will repair to full power and move on to the next Phase or
 Chapter.  Here's another helpful hint: Somewhere on Mission Mode takes you to
 a practice fight against three M1 Astrays with the Strike and another takes
 you against Mu La Flaga on the Aile Strike with Freedom.  Good news is that
 your ship will not be damaged if you're defeated.

- Some Missions require you to beat the enemies within the Time Limit.
 Unfortunately, you CAN'T move on even if you have more energy gauge than the
 enemy when the time's up.  You MUST defeat the enemy (or enemies) before
 time's up!  I know, it kinda sucks just thinking about it, but it's only for
 this Mode only.

- You can perform the Dual Hyper Attack when you are with another mobile suit on
 later Missions.  I advise not to use this if you're on Time Attack or Time
 Limit Missions.

SURVIVAL
- After each battle, your mobile suit will repair the Armor Gauge and receive a
 Skill Shield if it were used.  However, your Upgrade Level will go DOWN a
 Level, so keep that in mind.

OTHER STRATEGIES
- Try to be a little patient.  True, most Missions carry 2-on-1 battles, but try
 not to rush things; odds are, indeed, against you.  Otherwise, they get to you
 and take you out quickly!

- You can perform combos when fighting the enemy.  Try combining your own combos
 using attacks.  There are a lot of combinations you can use to your advantage.
 Experiment and make your own combos and take out your enemy!

- Skill Shields can be used other than Ultimate Attacks.  You can use Abilities
 (MS varies on Ability) and Dual Hyper Attack (for two MS), however, they also
 cost you one Skill Shield.  So plan it strategically and carefully.

- There are 3 Types of gauges in the game (See Battle Screen).  Type 1 is the
 normal Battle Armor.  Type 2 has 50% for both Battle Armor and the Phase-Shift
 Armor.  Type 3 is the Phase-Shift Armor.  Phase-Shift Armors are nearly
 unaffected against regular Vulcan and laser fire.

- If you get thrown, you can recover by using jump or quick recover.  You will
 lose minimal Battle Armor if you're thrown to the ground.  Note for Freedom,
 Justice and Providence Gundams: if you get thrown to the ground, you will be
 temporarily stunned, giving the enemy a chance to attack, so be careful!

- Use Real-Time Programming Upgrade by pressing SELECT during battle (everyone
 has one); press SELECT again to deactivate.  It will fail if you get hit by
 the enemy or press the wrong button.  Follow the input and press them
 carefully and as fast as you can.  This will be very helpful when operating or
 piloting your MS (See Battle Screen for Version Upgrades).
