The FAQ
=======

To advance to #1 in the arena you don't even have to go through any of
the missions. It is possible to start Mission 1 with a 'built AC.'
It is quit cheap however and can get repetitive, but it makes fighting
the top 10 the easy.

The first few battles should be easy, I suggest this technique
only for those enemies who you can not beat easily. If you just want to
win, you can use it all the time.

1: Fight only on the arena named 'Etal Base'.

2: Equip any type of shoulder mounted missiles
1 For the first few fights use EMW-5602. Then:
   2 Buy two EMW-5602
3 When you can upgrade one or two to EMW-5608
4 You may then switch to EWM-M4444's. These are good against
enemies with anti missile protection. The missiles flight path
usually leads missiles behind the opponent rather than in front.
5: Buy any FCS with a long lock-on-range, multiple-lock ones help.
Your starting set is works well till you can afford the highest
      upgrade.

NOTE: For the top 10 you should use the EWX-BAL4, it almost
guarantees a win. It will destroy Ares with out any trouble.

3: You should have a relatively strong blade and hand mounted gun, just
incase you run out of missiles early. I suggest any type of machine
gun if you opponent is slow or you can track fast CPU enemies well.
This will end any fight easily. If you are slow witted like me, buy
   a sniper riffle.

4: During the match, fly up to any of the large towers (there are 4). I
suggest either of the two that are connected by an air bridge. You
should be able to fly straight up and slightly to the left at the
   beginning of the match.

5: Fly to the top, there should be enough room for your mech to stand on.
(Above the rectangle platform, I am talking at the way way top of the
   tower)

6: Look all the way down and you should be able to get a lock on the enemy.
He/She will always stay down there, except a few like Pollux. They tend
to move around a lot and make tracking them really easy, another who does
   this is Ares.

7: Get your lock and fire. If you run out of missiles, go down and finish
the enemy off with your blade or gun. If you are using a sniper rifle,
fly up looking down and take one or two shots, land and repeat. This is
slow and takes good flying skills. If you can pull it off though you will
   win every time.

If you are having trouble getting locks, trying changing your FCS to a set
that have a large sight or legs with a good turning rate. If that does not
work, trying rocketing (using the R3 button) to another tower. You should
have enough time to turn around lock and fire.

By the time you reach the top you should have enough money to buy any parts
and make your dream mech. The missions will be extremely easy, so play a few
and watch the shop fill up with new parts for you to play with.

Why this works
==============
As far as I can tell from playing, the AI has one goal, to get close to you.
Due to this while you are safely stationed on top of the tower the CPU
opponent thinks two things: 1) You are not flying 2) You are not moving.
So it moves as close as it can without flying. This puts the opponent in a
position that does not allow it to fire missiles or gain a line of sight (The
ability to see your mech visually. Just like how you would need line of sight
to shoot a real gun.) to use normal gun type weapons. You however can gain
missile lock and fire at will. The only things that may cause problems are CPU
opponents that have an AI that makes them move a lot and far away. This can
momentarily give them line of sight or a missile lock. This should not happen
much.
