-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
>> [01. Introduction]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This FAQ deals with the synthesizing portion of the game, AT2. Although this
is a GUST title, synthesis isn't really required to finish the game, but it
is still integrated well. There are obviously various incentives to
synthesize.
Synthesis is integrated into this game so that it causes a cascading effect
where it affects multiple parts of the game. For example, some I.P.Ds require
synthesized items to cure them, some talk topics with reyvateils require that
an item obtained only through synthesis is in your inventory at the time
of resting, and most if not all Dualstall bath toys/powders are made through
synthesis.
Each of the shopkeepers that allow synthesis in their shops also have a
backstory, and as you synthesize more items you will get to know them
better. Triggering these scenes can sometimes be tedious and it seems like
it will never end, but if you're going for 100% completion you must do it
all.
All item names and descriptions were taken from the NTSC/US version of the
game published by NIS America. In some cases I slightly changed the names
and descriptions to make them easier to understand.

one of the synthesizers.
After you trigger this scene, you must rest somewhere to trigger the final
scene. After this scene, go back to the shop to get a special accessory for
the character in the conflict.
Listed below are the rewards for each corresponding shopkeeper.

The order you get them in might be slightly different, but this is the order
I got them in.
Take note that I only checked for scenes when all available synthesizers are
in the party. The party shifting every 10 minutes makes it annoying to get
scenes since scenes won't activate if one of the characters in the scene
is missing from the party.
Friendly spoiler warning.

>> [08. Pira Theory Collection & Antique Document Locations][%PTB]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This section will provide you with the locations to the seven Pira Theory
books and the location of the Antique Document. I would have had this up
sooner, but I had to start another playthrough to confirm locations.
[Pira Theory I (1)]
- General Location: Telmina Lift Lobby ~ South Room (Chest)
- Specific Directions: Telmina has 3 sections. One is accessed by going
through Waterfall Hill Park, the second can be
accessed by using any lift that also stops at
the lobby, (The lobby is the area where most lifts
stop at and you can transfer. All the lifts are
also numbered in this area.) and the third
section is accessed through the Grand Bell Hall.
You want to somehow get to the second section (i.e by
using Lift I, III, etc.) and then pull up the map
and head to the south room. This room has a save point
and two chests. One of them contains Pira Theory I.
[Pira Theory II (2)]
- General Location: Bell Strike Hall ~ Top Level (Chest)
- Specific Directions: This one is really hard to miss since you pass right
by it during the story. If you somehow missed it,
it's right near the top left lift on the top
level of the Bell Strike Hall. This lift also
has a save point near it.
[Pira Theory III (3)]
- General Location: Enna Undergrounds ~ Area before Story Event. (Chest)
- Specific Directions: Just like Pira Theory II (2), you pass right by
this one during the story. This chest is located
in the hallway before the room where the story
event takes place. It's also the only chest in the
area that isn't a wooden crate.
[Pira Theory IV (4)]
- General Location: Gyro Stabilizer (Chest)
- Specific Directions: From the entrance of the Gyro Stabilizer, take the
east lift and you'll eventually find the room
that houses the chest that contains Pira Theory IV.
[Pira Theory V (5)]
- General Location: Tower to the Heavens (Chest)
- Specific Directions: As you climb the tower, you will eventually find an
area that has 4 lifts. The area with the chest
that has Pira Theory V is accessed by using the
3rd lift from the left marked as [3] on this
diagram:
=======================================
[1] [2] [3] [4]
=======================================
[1]: Leads to an area with a chest that has the
Abyss Dualithnode Crystal.
[2]: This lift allows you to descend the tower.
This is the lift you get off of if you are
accessing the area from below.
[3]: Leads to an area with a chest that has the
Pira Theory V book.
[4]: This lift allows you to ascend the tower.
This is the lift you get off of if you are
accessing the area from above.
[Pira Theory VI (6)]
- General Location: Sky Plains (Chest)
- Specific Directions: From the entrance via World Map (Not Sol Marta),
head to the third area. The chest that contains Pira
Theory VI is off to the east/right side at a cliff.
[Pira Theory VII (7)]
- General Location: Sol Marta (Chest)
- Specific Directions: The room that houses the chest that contains Pira
Theory VII can only be accessed if the Sol Marta
center bridge setting is set to [right.] After
this has been done, head across the bridge and into
the next area. In this area, head straight ahead
into the door in front of you. Pira Theory VII is
inside a chest in this room.
[Antique Document]
- General Location: Verticave
- Specific Directions: This one is even harder to miss than Pira Theory II,
because it's smack dab at a path turn that you MUST
walk through if you want to continue the story. You
should have this already, unless you like leaving
chests unopened.

Keep in mind that shops where you can synthesize will always stock

The "Cherry Town" Gaea shop was not included because it doesn't sell
synthesis materials, only healing items and event items.
The shop stock in this section was taken from endgame, right before the point
of no return, so if your shop stock doesn't show as follows, things will be
added as the story progresses.

>> [-- Frequently Asked Questions] [^FAQ]
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
This section has answers to questions I find popping up on the GameFAQS
message board a lot.
Q1. How do I trigger subsequent shopkeeper events/scenes?
A1. This cycle can get tedious.
01. Visit all towns to see if anything triggers. You'll know you are
eligible for an event if they pop up on the town section selection
screen asking you to visit their shop. The only exception to this
is Skycat, who generally does not pop up 100% of the time when
a scene is available, so waltz into her shop to doublecheck.
IF A SCENE OCCURS:
01a. Head to the shop, synth all the items available. Leave and re-enter
the shop. Synth new items if possible. Start over from 01. Usually
when you make an ingredient that is used in another recipe, it will
unlock the recipe, so do another sweep to make sure.
IF A SCENE DOES NOT OCCUR:
02. Buy something cheap from each store. Head somewhere and fight in
a battle. (1 battle is enough.) Start over from 01.
03. If you did all that and finished everything but still do not have
all of the recipes, you are probably not far enough in the game, so
advance the story and start from 01 again when you feel like
synthesizing again.
Q2. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I synthesized before, but now when I try to do it, the
shopkeeper won't let me? WHY?!?!?!?
A2. You probably advanced the story which probably means you are missing
synthesizers. AT LEAST ONE synthesizer besides Croix needs to be present
in your party for synthesis to occur:
[Pastalia] Tsuraya; Cynthia: Cloche OR Jacqli.
[General Store] Mewmew Shop; Sasha: Luca OR Cloche
[Rakshek] Bon Belton; Luca OR Jacqli
Q3. Where do I find Stijl Launchers?
A3. Stijl Launchers are dropped by the "Zero" monster that appears in random
encounters at Sol Marta. It is labeled as their "Rare" drop. Zero is a
blue monster that looks like floating clay. It is part of the monster
family that always uses the P-Armor skill on their first turn in battle.
Q4. Does it matter who I give my "Pira Theory" books to?
A4. No. It's fixed and they will always only accept the one that they
will eventually have a recipe for.
Sasha will accept: Pira Theory I(1), II(2), IV(4), V(5), & VII(7).
Cynthia will accept: Pira Theory III(3), VI(6).
