Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed
Rewards Faq
By Taylor Ackerson (Satandrummer666)

**WARNING**

This FAQ has spoilers in the form of boss, level, and item names. I would
avoid these if I could, but it would be difficult to do so without actually
specifying which level it is. Level names cannot be avoided, but not much is
spoiled there, and item names... If you didn't want them spoiled, why did you
come here? In the ToC, I will list bosses as "Boss A" or "Boss B" etc.,
followed by the time you fight them. For example:

Boss A 1

I know this is a somewhat awkward format, but I really hate spoilers.
Whenever you go to the actual place in the guide which has the boss, it
will be listed by its full name. I apologize for any inconvenience this
causes.

LAS and RAS are Left/Right Analog Sticks, respectively.

*Note: I now have everything with everyone. The next update I do
(whenever I get around to it) will probably be character-specific
boss strategies. Of course, that will take a good bit of time, so
don't get too excited.

Intro [IN1]

Hello, and welcome to the Ape Escape: Pumped & Primed Rewards FAQ. In
this FAQ, I plan to cover mostly what each character gets as rewards
from the many activities there are to accomplish. This is my first FAQ,
and I'd be surprised if some errors were not found. If anyone has any
comments, suggestions, queries, or the like, please feel free to
contact me at [email protected]. Please include something like
"AE: P&P" or "Ape Escape" in the e-mail's title, so that I do not
consider it spam. If you want me to specifically go through a level
that you cannot seem to beat with a specific character, just include it
in the message body, and I'll do my best to get that character through
the level. If I do, I'll reply with what reward the character got, and
any tips I happened to find. Also, if you find any errors in this guide,
or any data I do not have, please send it in. If it is accurate, I'll
post it. If you do this, please tell me whether you how you wish to be
credited, if you want. Otherwise, I'll just list you as "Anonymous".

Please note that I am currently a high school student, and do have
outside activities. Some letters, if they have more trying requests,
may take longer than others.

Game Basics [GB1]

This game is commonly classified as a party game. This is fairly just,
as it is composed of mini-game style events, ranging from fighting to
racing to collecting. The Ape Escape series, aside from spin-offs such
as this, is about rampant apes who have managed to escape (hence the
name) and are now causing havoc around the world. This one follows a
very different story.

To avoid spoilers, I won't say too much, but the main difference
between P&P and the main series is that the humans are not fully
against the monkeys. This is because you are all in a tournament of
skill, in Virtual World. This world allows combatants to fight each
other and not truly experience pain, but still have parameters such as
vitality and stamina against them, as they fight towards the top.

The gameplay is very similar to the regular Ape Escape games, using
both of the control sticks avidly and equally. In fact, most of the
controls for the gadgets are exactly the same. If you haven't ever
played an AE game before, don't worry, as it has in-game instructions
on their application. Also, it's a fairly easy game (for the most part),
and good practice can make you an ace at any of the events.

Gadgets [GA1]

Gadgets are the equipment of each character. Without these, you'd be
screwed, so be thankful for them. These descriptions are direct from
the instruction booklet and game itself.

Stunclubs

A gadget used to hit something. You can attack nearby enemies with it.

Dragonfly

A gadget that lets you fly high. It's very useful in Course tournaments!

Slingshot

A gadget that sends a bullet flying. Target and shoot an opponent who's
far away!

Dash Hoop

A gadget that helps you run fast. You can hurl yourself with this
gadget.

RC Car

A radio-controlled gadget. It can pick up items and coins, make
explosion attacks, and more!

Boat

A gadget you use to move on the surface of the water in specific levels.
Its performance level varies on which character is using it.

WaterMech

A gadget that lets you swim freely in the water in specific levels. It
can fire missiles. The performance level varies depending on which
character is using it.

Tank

A powerful war vehicle you can use only in specific levels. Its
performance varies on which character is using it.

Characters [CH1]

This section lists the starter equipment of each character, and a brief
opinion from myself of the character. The Special Attacks/Techniques
are from the instruction book. Special Attacks are used in the
multi-gadget battles by pressing the button for both gadgets, which
produces the attack. These require your Special Bar, filled by
collection those blue orb things and attacking. Gadgets must be
adjacent to each other to use their effect.

Spike

Author's Note: He's the general average character. Jack of all trades,
master of none. I haven't really played that much with him, so I have
no major opinion.

Equipment:
Stunclub
Dragonfly
Slingshot
Dash Hoop
RC Car
Tank
WaterMech
Boat

Special Techniques: After doing a Spin Attack with your Stunclub, tilt
the RAS in whatever desired direction to do a Somersault attack.

Special Attacks:

Dimension Break(Stunclub+Slingshot): Swing the Stunclub down hard.
Hurricane Crush(Stunclub+Dragonfly): You do a spin slash, and spin up.
Sonic Revolution(Stunclub+Dash Hoop): Unleash a high-speed spin slash
against opponents around you.
Thunder Crack (Stunclub+RC Car): Stunclubs strike lightning.

Natalie

Author's Note: I absolutely love her Stunclub. Her Spin Attack can go
on continually unless she is damaged, and has phenomenal range. Once
you get her upgrades for it, she will obliterate.

Equipment:
Mech Rod
Big Fly
Racket
Turbo Rod
Mech Puppet
Fly Tank
Dive Board
Mech Canoe

Special Techniques: Precise timing with the Stunclub will yield a
strong threefold combo. (Um... Duh? Doesn't that happen with everyone?
Her Spin Attack can go on without pause, that's the real one.)

Special Attacks:
Flash Beam(Slingshot+Stunclub): Make everyone around you faint. Doesn't
do damage.
Ground Shock Beam(Slingshot+Dragonfly): Fly in the air and throw bombs.
Dash Hoop Overboost(Slingshot+Dash Hoop): Attack everyone around you
with a high-powered spin attack with the Stunclub.
Bear Bomb(Slingshot+RC Car): Fire bear-shaped bombs.

Professor

Author's Note: Ugh. Professor is my least favorite character. The only
one who cannot double-jump, his Dragonfly makes up for it... But then,
can you get used to it long enough to play with him? His Special
Attacks are pathetic, requiring the most useless gadget, and most
of them aren't really worth it anyway. I'd swap the RC Car for any
gadget you don't use a lot and get the Cancel Limiter command in
Course tournaments, as it's fairly useful. Otherwise, it may be in
your best interests to try for a good summon monkey early.

Equipment:
Mech Hammer
Mech Blade
Shoot Mech
Booster
RX Car
Armor Cannon
Iron Angler
Drum Boat

Special Techniques: With the Stunclub selected, you can throw an
opponent. This is the Professor's Charge-Attack.

Special Attacks:
Plasma Control(RC Car+Stunclubs): Spawns a small plasma ball.
Controlled like a RC Car, right down to the explosion.
Wave Barrier(RC Car+Slingshot): Makes a barrier around you which
prevents damage.
Large Detonation(RC Car+Dragonfly): Injures everyone around the
professor, including himself.
Cancel Limiter(RC Car+Dash Hoop): Temporarily increases Professor's
Jump, Attack, and Speed levels.

Pipo Monkey

Author's Note: I like the Monkey characters. I prefer Team Monkey, but
this guy's pretty cool too. His Pipo Wave special is fantastic. He
tends to be centered speedwise on vehicles, especially the boat.
Fun Fact: The Banana Marine can be used both underwater and
on land as transport (seen in his special attack).

Equipment:
Jungle Stick
Sun Flower
Nuts Shooter
Dash Leaf
Banana RC Car
Tank Trolley
Banana Marine
Jungle Raft

Special Techniques: Same as Spike's.

Special Attacks:
Monkey Bazooka(Stunclub+Slingshot): Fires monkeys as cannonballs.
Pipo Wave(Stunclub+Dragonfly): Monkeys cover the screen and bum rush
the other players. Does good damage, and hits everyone onscreen.
Banana Rocket(Stunclub+Dash Hoop): A Banana-bike appears and you can
ride it. Fairly hard to control, but does damage. Similar to Dash Hoop.
Monkey Dance(Stunclub+RC Car): A small group of monkeys appears and
attacks the area that you throw a banana at.

Casi

Author's Note: Ah, Casi. Another difficult to get used to character,
but a lot easier than Prof. She has three jumps, AND the Dragonfly, so
she has great recovery, and her Stunclub is a projectile, so it has
good range. She also has odd Control Freak Special Attacks, which are
completely baffling unless you read the descriptions. She is awesome in
Course tournaments, thanks to her jumping abilities. I just want to
know what the deal is with her acid-trip Intermissions?

Equipment:
Star Photon
Jump Ray
Star Arrow
Star Blast
Sprite
Ball Shooter
Dive Capsule
Float Saucer

Special Techniques: Just her ranged Stunclub and ability to triple-jump.

Special Attacks:
Gadget Control(Dragonfly+Stunclub): Prevents others from using Gadgets.
Input Control(Dragonfly+Slingshot): Confuses others' movement control.
Gravity Control(Dragonfly+Dash Hoop): Slows others' movement speed.
Time Control(Dragonfly+RC Car): Stops time and prevents others from
moving.

Team Monkey

Author's Note: This is my favorite character. Playing as these monkeys
just wins so much, and the diversity is nice. Since they are all have
unique advantages, I'll note them individually.

Equipment:
Pipo Glove
Rocket Fly
Pipo Gun
Skateboard
Monkey UFO
Spec Tank
Ookie Marine
Swan Boat

Special Attacks:
Goliath Eye(Stunclub+Slingshot): Goliath shoots laser beams from his
eyes.
Battleship Shoot(Stunclub+Dragonfly): Fires many missiles from the sky.
Monkey UFO(Stunclub+Dash Hoop): Jump in a UFO and float around,
damaging all you hit and all your abduction beam hits. (Note: This is a
great move for difficult passages in Course tournaments.)
Goliath Hand(Stunclub+RC Car): Goliath's fists fall from the sky.

Special Techniques:

Pipo Red (Angry Eyes): Can do Punch combos with the Stunclub.
Pipo Green (Goggles): Has greater height with the Dragonfly.
Pipo Blue (Sad Eyes): Has faster speed with the Dash Hoop.
Pipo Aqua (Sad Eyes): Gets double points upon winning. Supposedly he's
got a better proficiency with the RC Car, but I didn't ever notice much
difference.
Pipo Black (Sunglasses): Can fire 6 shots per pull with the Slingshot.

Helga

Author's Note: Ah, Helga. I always found her very odd. Her Slingshot
seems to be stronger than her Stunclub, at least to me. I never really
liked her that much, mostly because this is her first game, so we have
little background to go off of. Plus, she's like 8, is evidently a
skilled archer, and still drives a Tricycle.
What the heck?

Equipment:
Stunclub
Dragonfly
Slingshot
Dash Hoop
RC Car
Trike Tank
WaterMech
Floater Boat

Special Techniques: Helga has a endless combo with the Stunclubs if you
keep tilting it. (Um. Again, doesn't everyone?)

Special Attacks:
Sunshine Arrow(Slingshot+Stunclubs): Fires a single, strong arrow. Does
big damage if it hits.
Ripple Storm(Slingshot+Dragonfly): Jump up in the air and fire a shower
of arrows around where she was just standing.
Spin Shot(Slingshot+Dash Hoop): Fire arrows while spinning.
Homing Arrow(Slingshot+RC Car): Fire arrows that chase people around
you.

Pipotron

Author's Note: Having recently played through several events with
them, I have come to the conclusion that Pipotron is the 'broken'
character of this game.
For those who don't recognize that term, that means they are
the most unfair in terms of ownage.
They normally run faster than most others, they have 3 jumps,
they each have a unique advantage (listed later), their
vehicles are ludicrous (reasoning later), and they have a
huge special attack (guess what? Explained later!).

Equipment:
Dark Edge
Dark Ring
Tron Cannon
Dark Booster
RZ Car
Beatron
Pooch D Mode
Pooch S Mode

Special Attacks:
Tron Gush(Dash Hoop+Stunclub): Dark flames arise from the ground in
front of Pipotron.
Tron Cannon(Dash Hoop+Slingshot): Throws a dark ball at opponent.
(Note: Tron Cannon is fantastic. If aimed well from a proper
angle, this can literally one-shot a boss. I have gotten, as my
crowning record, a 10-second kill on the second-to-last boss
in the game. Give it a shot!)
Darkness Stream(Dash Hoop+Dragonfly): Generates tornado. Sucks in
nearby opponents to do damage.
Dark Shout(Dash Hoop+RC Car): Stuns everyone around you.

Special Techniques:

Red Pipotron: Best with the Stunclub.
Blue Pipotron: Fastest with the Dash Hoop.
Yellow Pipotron: Best with the Slingshot.

Raw Tournament Info [RT1]

This section will list the tournaments, and what prize they give. The
Raw means that it will be generic. For example, if the prize is a new
outfit, the prize will simply be Outfit. For detailed prizes, check the

Monkey Summon! [MS1]

Here I list what summon monkeys do. Not much else to say...If anyone's
wondering, Helga sometimes says "Monkey Summon!" whenever she throws
the summon banana.

Monta - Calls meteorites down around his location. Kinda short-range.

Monzo - Appears, and starts swinging a shuriken in a circle around him.
After 2 or so seconds, he lets it go, and it continues spinning in an
ever increasing range.

Tutanchimp - I'm not entirely sure what he does. He appears, starts
doing an odd dance, and the screen's edges get cloudy. I haven't
noticed any effect on the action.

Pink Monkey - She has two outcomes, even chance. If she has her
happy face, she throws health kits in the area around her. Both
you and opponents can get them. If she has her mad face, she sends
out a shockwave that harms everyone...Including you. Feeling lucky?

Samui - Runs at a random enemy, and beats on them with his bat.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think the damage done increases slightly
each time he is called per fight.

Monki-San - Jumps onto a rocket, which emits shockwaves upon takeoff.

Edison - Calls the Goliath Arm down where he is standing. Arm itself
does damage, and then sends shockwaves upon landing.
*Note: This is an amazing summon for Specter boss fights. Throw the
summon banana around Goliath's feet, and watch him essentially punch
half his own health out.

Red Monkey - Flies around the screen, causing damage to everyone.
One of my personal favorites, and awesome for fight events.

Leo - Does some funky dance steps and causes everyone to be
incapacitated by the light of the disco ball. Lasts a few
seconds, and the dances are pretty funny.

Pumpkin - Inexplicably throws bombs in the immediate area. They
don't hurt you.

Bruce Monkee - Creates a large shockwave. Higher range and damage
than most other shockwaves.

Miyamoto - Pretty much the same as Samui, but stronger.

Wakkie - Calls down the Goliath Head, which shoots laser beams.
The head turns to track a random enemy, but it's pretty slow.
