Welcome to 'Tantei Jinguuji Saburo: Yokohama Minato Renzoku Satsujin Jiken' for
the NES, released by Data East in 1988. This game is only available in Japan.

This is the first of two adventures on the NES. Tantei Jinguuji Saburo is an
extremely popular detective series in Japan, including games and books. The
first game was released on the Famicon Disk System and there are new games for
modern systems as well.

The guide uses Shift-JIS to display Japanese characters in .txt form. If you
cannot see them automatically and just see some garbled font, set your browser
encoding or file viewer manually. You need to be able to read these characters
to use the guide.

This game is a text adventure. To play you need to have extensive knowledge of
the Japanese language. Thus this walkthrough is intended for players who are
able to read and understand the text. If you do not understand the storyline
then there is little point in playing the game.

Controls:

Use the A button to confirm actions. The B button backs out to the core menu.
Use LEFT and RIGHT for more actions, it is easy to miss as you start to play
the game for the first time.

The main menu has two options. The top is for starting a new game where as the
lower one is to continue from a previous play. The game uses a password system
you then need to input. The last action on the menu is for retrieving the
password after confirming. Write it down as it's rather complicated.


Display:

The top of the screen contains the current location as well as character you
may be interacting with. The menu is on the left of this screen but also on the
left in certain situations. The bottom displays the text of the story.


Characters:

Saburao Jinguji:
Age 29, Male, Single. A notorious detective, whose use of unorthodox techniques
and keen wit solves many crimes.

Hotoshi Hinode:
Age 26, Male, Engaged. Eva's fiance, who has engaged Saburo to investigate
Eva's disappearance.

Eva Christina:
Age 23, Female, Engaged. A foreign attache from Barraccan Embassy, mysterious
disappearance is very suspicious.

Toko Misono:
Age 23, Female, Single. Saburo's ace assistance, whose feminine intuitive
powers are relied on heavily.
