Introduction
Syphon Filter 2 is the sequel to one of the
Playstation's best selling games. In 1998, Syphon
Filter was billed as the pure action equivalent to the
stealthness of Metal Gear Solid. It takes everything
you liked from the first game and makes it better.
First off, you get to play as both Gabe Logan and Lian
Xing. There's no real difference between them other
than the weapons that are available in the beginning
of the level. The game is also easier since there are
more checkpoints and you have the option of quitting
and saving from the last checkpoint instead of waiting
until the end of the level. The levels are also larger
and more detailed which is why the game spans two
disks. But there are two very significant additions to
this game over the first one. One is the two-player
battle mode. Here you choose a list of the game's
characters and shoot it out in a hide, seek and
destroy mission through any level of this (and the
previous) game. The other is am ability the enemies
gained that now puts them on equal footing with you;
they can now do headshots. That’s right, they can now
kill you instantly with one shot to your melon just
like you’ve been doing to them.
Taking place just a few hours from where the last game
left off, Gabe and Lian are preparing to leave the
PharCom Warehouses in Kazakhstan. Lian is still
infected with the Syphon Filter virus and is waiting
for her specific antidote. They have also discovered
that the Agency's corruption goes deeper than
Markinson and Benton. All of a sudden, Agency
operatives appear at their location and manage to
kidnap Lian. Gabe manages to escape Kazakhstan, but is
shot down over the Rocky Mountains while planning his
next move. Later they are reunited, only to be
publicly branded terrorists by the Agency. Now they
must clear their names, stop the Agency's plan for
Syphon Filter, and save Lian's life.
WARNING: This walkthrough not only reveals paths
through the game, but also reveals the entire story
behind the game. If you haven’t played the game and
don’t want to know what happens, leave now.
A Recap of Syphon Filter
For months, a rash of unexplained deaths had been
recorded throughout the world. It was later discovered
that it was the result of an unknown virus. The
strange thing is that while most of the people in the
infected area were dead, there were a few that were
still alive. The prime suspect was international
terrorist Erich Rhoemer. A top-secret government
organization, known as the Agency, investigated
Rhoemer's possible involvement. The Agency sent
undercover operatives to infiltrate Rhoemer's
organization. They were all discovered and eliminated
except their top operative, Gabe Logan, and his
partner, Lian Xing.
On August 24, 1999, the Agency received a break in the
case. Rhoemer's trail led to Washington D.C. where he
had planted viral bombs somewhere in the city subway
system. Gabe, backed up by CBDC agents, was sent to
stop Rhoemer's terrorists and defuse the bombs. But
upon entering the subway, Gabe was nearly killed in a
massive explosion. He survived and made his way to
Washington Park where Rhoemer's subordinate, Anton
Girdeux, was setting the real viral bombs. While CBDC
agents were disarming the bombs, Gabe tracked down
Girdeux at the Freedom Memorial where Girdeux met his
fiery end.
After a through investigation, the Agency discovered a
link between Rhoemer and the C.E.O. of PharCom Inc.,
Jonathan Phagan. It was also discovered that someone
in the Agency had been leaking information to Rhoemer.
Under disguise, Gabe infiltrated the PharCom
headquarters in New York and followed him to a secret
meeting. There he saw Phagan with Rhoemer's hired
assassin, Mara Aramov, and the Agency's assistant
director, Edward Benton. After dispatching Benton,
Gabe found Aramov about to eliminate Phagan. Since the
Agency needed both of them alive for questioning, Gabe
was able to stop her without killing her. In the
confusion, Phagan managed to slip away.
Gabe was troubled that the Agency had already known
that Benton had betrayed them and never warned any of
their operatives. After an intense interrogation,
Aramov revealed that Rhoemer was still using an old
base in Kazakhstan. He was stockpiling missiles that
he planned to use with his mysterious virus. Gabe's
mission was to sneak onto the base, tag each and every
missile, and plant enough explosives to completely
destroy the base. The mission went off without a hitch
until while Gabe was making his escape, Rhoemer had
discovered Lian at her secret location. Believing that
he had killed her, Gabe continued alone to the
rendezvous location.
The Agency was finally able to identify the mysterious
virus, calling it Syphon Filter. It was a man-made
virus that could be programmed to kill any specific
person while sparing others. Thanks to Aramov, who had
managed to escape, the Agency discovered Rhoemer's
main stronghold in Ukraine. Phagan was apparently
captured and used to become one of the many test
subjects held there to study the virus. The Agency
also developed an antigen that combats the virus.
Gabe's mission was to give the antigen to the test
subjects, eliminate any scientists he came across, and
rescue Phagan. He had finished the first two missions
and had located Phagan when he received the shocking
news that Lian was still alive. She had been brought
there and was turned into a test subject like the
others. Gabe didn't believe him until he led him to
her cell. He was about to give her the antigen when
she stopped him, saying that there was no such thing
as a universal antigen. The only way to create a cure
was through studying an individual person's DNA. They
had no time to figure out the truth right then, they
had to escape. They arrived at the exit only to see
Phagan shot in the head by Aramov. She agreed to help
them stop Rhoemer's plans for the Syphon Filter virus.
Aramov tells Gabe and Lian about the goings on in the
PharCom Warehouses in Kazakhstan. Apparently bodies of
test subjects were hidden within them and were being
prepared to be shipped out of the country for more
testing. What's worse is that the "antigen" that Gabe
had given those people was in reality a poison that
killed them almost instantly. They needed to get to
the mainframe computers inside because they had vital
information on the virus, which they needed to create
Lian's vaccine. Another strange thing was that Lian
couldn't raise anyone in the Agency for backup. When
they arrived at the warehouses, it was a literal
battlefield between Rhoemer's terrorists and Phagan's
security. This gave Gabe the chance to slip by and
check the warehouses for bodies with a viral scanner.
As he went deeper into the warehouses, he discovered
underground tunnels with laser-powered gates blocking
his progress. The only way to get by was to overload
the power supply. Once that was succeeded, he made his
way to an underground missile silo with a warhead that
was seconds away from launching. All Gabe had time to
do was to enter the warhead's self-destruct codes so
that when it launched, it detonated in the air above
them. That was when Thomas Markinson, the head of the
Agency, made his appearance. He announced his own
plans for the Syphon Filter virus, but Rhoemer gunned
him down. Gabe made his way to the computer room and
was about to download the Syphon Filter files when
Rhoemer appeared intent to finish him off. Armed with
only a gas grenade, Gabe confused Rhoemer in the maze
of mainframes. Finally when he saw his moment, he
tossed it right in Rhoemer's path, ending his plans
along with his life.
When it was all over, Aramov was captured by the
Agency, Lian was awaiting her vaccine, and there were
more questions than answers. What was Markinson's
involvement with Phagan and Rhoemer? How could they
create such an intricate virus? Who was ultimately
responsible? And the most important question: who else
in the Agency could be in on this?

Sex: Male
Age: 36
Birthplace: Camden, New Jersey
Nationality: American
Height: 6' 3"
Weight: 185 lbs.
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Black
The top Agency operative, now hunted by members of his
own organization. Averted a disaster by destroying an
ICBM targeted on Kazakhstan while pursuing those
responsible for producing the Syphon Filter virus.
1993-Present: Agency Operative
1987-1992: U.S. Army Special Operations
1991: Gulf War, Presidential Citation
1989: Awarded Silver Star.
1987: Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, U.S. Army
{The state that brought us Bruce Springsteen, Bon
Jovi, and Naughty by Nature has produced one of the
toughest soldiers to date. Gabe is the consummate
professional. He's willing to do whatever it takes to
complete his mission. He does however have his limits,
and they were crossed when he found out how the Agency
was using him and Lian. Now that he's being hunted by
the Agency, he's in for the biggest challenge of his
life. But if anybody can outwit them, it would be
their six-year veteran. Gabe has earned himself the
admiration and respect of those under his command. He
cares for them, but is willing to sacrifice any one of
them if it means the preservation of innocent lives.}
Lian Xing (Intelligence Communications Expert)
Sex: Female
Age: 30
Birthplace: Kashi, China [San Francisco, California]
Nationality: Chinese [American]
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 120 lbs.
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Black
Agency Operative (Communications) Partnered with
Gabriel Logan. Originally an agent for the Chinese
MSS, she was recruited in 1996 by the Agency and given
a new identity as an American citizen including fake
biographical information, recently exposed to the
Syphon Filter virus. Presently kidnapped by Agency for
testing. Branded terrorist by Agency as cover story.
1995-Present: Agency Operative
1989-1995: Chinese MSS agent.
[Faked by Agency]
{Lian is the more compassionate of the duo. Where Gabe
would see no opportunity to save a soldier's life, she
may be more likely to create an opportunity at the
expense of the mission, or her own life. She does not,
however, make stupid mistakes. The time she spent
imprisoned in Russia before joining the Agency taught
her that you couldn’t save everyone. She feels a
certain amount of responsibility toward Gabe, Teresa,
and the others since they are all fighting to save her
life. She doesn't know if she could live with herself
if anyone were to be killed over her.}
Teresa Lipan (Ex-Agency Operative)
Sex: Female
Age: 25
Birthplace: Phoenix, Arizona
Nationality: American
Height: 5' 6"
Weight: 118 lbs.
Eye Color: Green
Hair Color: Brown
Former Agency operative who now operates a low profile
freelance spy operation from a trailer deep in the
Arizona desert. Functions primarily as an underground
intelligence assistant for Gabe Logan and Lian Xing.
1997-Present: Freelance Intelligence Operative
1994-1997: Agency Operative
1992-1994: ATF Agent
{This wisecracking desert flower is my favorite
character in the game. Teresa and Lian are best
friends. She quit the Agency when she found out how
sinister they really were and always regretted never
warning her. So when Lian called her and told her that
she needed her help, Teresa saw this as an opportunity
to try and make amends. Teresa also seems to have a
problem following orders as she always pops up where
she's not suppose to be. I guess being her own boss
for two years had a lot to do with that. As much of a
pain that is, her contributions are invaluable. She
can take over relaying intelligence whenever Lian
can't, and in a gunfight, Gabe can always use the
extra firepower.}
Lieutenant Jason Chance (U.S. Army, CBDC)
Sex: Male
Age: 31
Birthplace: Reno, Nevada
Nationality: American
Height: 6' 3"
Weight: 214 lbs.
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Brown
A top Flight West Point grad with distinguished combat
service in the Gulf War. Presently attached to CBDC.
His attack and maneuver skills are top-notch. Headed
up the CBDC response to Washington D.C. terrorist
attack.
1996-Present: CBDC
1995: Commissioned 2nd Lieutenant, U.S. Army after
graduating in the top 5% of class
1991: Gulf War; Awarded Bronze Star. Gained
appointment to West Point same year
{If you're looking for a hardcore, no nonsense
soldier, then Chance is your man. He proved his
loyalty to Gabe in the Gulf War and once again during
the Syphon Filter mission in Washington D.C. Now he
and his CBDC soldiers are needed again in the fight
against the Agency.}
Lyle Stevens (Career Agency Man, Deputy Director)
Sex: Male
Age: 49
Birthplace: San Francisco, California
Nationality: American
Height: 6' 2"
Weight: 221 lbs.
Eye Color: Green
Hair Color: Grey
Progressed to the top echelon through ruthless
execution of his superior's orders. Political savvy,
brutal and expert at damage control. Presently
overseeing the neutralization of Gabe Logan and Lian
Xing.
1981-Present: Agency Deputy Director/Operative
1980: Master of Arts, International Policy Studies,
Princeton University
1971-1975: U.S. Army (SEAL Team)
{Stevens is the Agency's newest top dog. This was a
shock to everyone since no one expected Markinson and
Benton to die so close within each other. Along with
the command position, Stevens also inherited
Markinson's unholy alliance with PharCom and Aramov's
terrorists. Now he has the job of trying to kill Gabe
and extract the Syphon Filter virus from Lian.
Unfortunately, all he knows of them are from personnel
files, which don't do them justice. He's also a good
spin-doctor, which is something the Agency desperately
needs. When you have agents stirring up gunfights on
American streets, you need someone who can shovel it
with finesse.}
Dillon Morgan (Agency Commander, Special Assistant to
Lyle Stevens)
Sex: Male
Age: 40
Birthplace: Alexandria, Virginia
Nationality: American
Height: 6' 1"
Weight: 192
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: White
Trained by Israeli Army Intelligence and used for
cross-boarder counter-terrorism operations.
Specializes in the use of high explosives.
1990-Present: Agency Operative
1987-1990: Israeli Army
{Stevens' right-hand man is in charge of the mission
to stop Gabe and capture Lian. Unlike Stevens, Morgan
has seen Gabe operate and knows how dangerous he can
be. He also knows that Lian could be his Achilles’
heel. It wouldn't be above him to use her to drop
Gabe's guard. He's done a lot worse for less.}
Dr. Elsa Weissinger (German Scientist)
Sex: Female
Age: 32
Birthplace: Frankfurt, Germany
Nationality: German
Height: 5' 8"
Weight: 134 lbs.
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Blond
A former researcher for PharCom, she was instrumental
in the creation of the Syphon Filter virus. Following
PharCom's dissolution, she was recruited into Agency
to continue her work on the virus. Doesn't get along
well with the Agency administration.
1999-Present: Agency Scientist
1990-1999: PharCom Researcher
{Now presenting the first of the game's two whiners.
Dr. Weissinger has one of the simplest jobs: study the
virus. That's all. That's it. Nothing more, nothing
less. Yet here she comes with: the security is crap, I
need more time, your ruining my test subjects, yadda,
yadda, yadda. Listen heifer, you should be thankful
that someone felt sorry enough for you to hire you
after PharCom was about to go belly up. You don't even
have to kill anyone; they do that for you too. You
don't like the Agency hierarchy, but you don't mind
taking that Agency paycheck, do you? So just sit in
your lab, shut up, and try to contribute something
more than smart-ass remarks.}
Michael Archer (Elite Assassin, Dillon Morgan
Lieutenant)
Sex: Male
Age: 31
Birthplace: Topeka, Kansas
Nationality: American
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 178
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Black
An Agency reporting directly to Dillon Morgan.
Functions as an elite assassin and is responsible for
killing at least 10 foreign agents or other Agency
liabilities. Keeps an extremely low profile.
Information about his activities prior to joining the
Agency is minimal.
{If you need to go hunting, then you'd better send in
your best hunter. No one knows where Morgan happened
to find this little gem since he has no recorded
history. All we've heard was that he was a suck-up
that served with Gabe in Guatemala. He's also someone
that will do anything to complete his mission. And in
his mind, everyone is expendable.}
Uri Gregorov (Russian Nationalist)
Sex: Male
Age: 55
Birthplace: Stalingrad, Russia
Nationality: Russian
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 216
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Grey
Russian Army officer and top ranking post-Soviet
intelligence official. Head of SVR-Russian foreign
intelligence service. Member of Russian U.N.
delegation and a contact of Gabe. Holds vital
information to stopping Syphon Filter.
1996-Present: Director of SVR
1981-1996: KGB Officer
1970-1981: Russian Army Officer
{Gregorov is Gabe's Russian contact, and an old friend
of Lian's. As a member of the U.N. peacekeeping
forces, he was sent to investigate the goings on in
Kazakhstan. What he didn't let any of them know was
that he was going to help Gabe and the others slip
past the border and out of Russia. He felt a loyalty
to Lian, whom he met during her stay in Russia.
They're not best friends, but they do have a mutual
respect for each other. That was enough for him to
agree to help them out.}
Mara Aramov (Professional Killer)
Sex: Female
Age: 33
Birthplace: Novgorod, Russia
Nationality: Russian
Height: 5' 11"
Weight: 137 lbs.
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Auburn
Cunning and ruthless assassin who is linked to Russian
organized crime. Highly skilled in all types of
weaponry.
1989-Present: Freelance Killer rumored to have
assassinated 17 people
1986-1989: KGB Operative
1984-1986: Member of Black Baton Terrorist
Organization
{Rhoemer's right hand woman who turned out to be
playing him for a sap. She also has a lot of nerve
whining about the Agency's incompetence in dealing
with the situation. Let us recap for a moment. Who
spilled her guts about Rhoemer's stronghold to
Markinson's Agency Operatives including Gabe and Lian?
Who helped Gabe and Lian escape the catacombs? Who
shot Phagan in the head? Who lead Gabe to the PharCom
Warehouses? Besides, you're going to take the word of
a woman whose allegiance changes as often as her hair
color?}
Lawrence Mujari (Freelance Bio-Chemical Expert)
Sex: Male
Age: 38
Birthplace: Queenstown, South Africa
Nationality: South African
Height: 6' 2"
Weight: 207 lbs.
Eye Color: Black
Hair Color: Black
South African refugee and gifted medical expert and
pathologist. Runs illegal medical laboratory out of
the front of Whispering Woods Mortuary in Virginia.
1987-Present: Freelance Bio-Chemical Expert
1986: Master of Science, Biochemistry, Rhodes
University
{The last place you would expect for Lian's live to be
saved would be in a mortuary. But that isn't far from
the truth. Lawrence may not have a cure, but this
medical genius can slow the virus long enough for the
others to find a cure. Teresa helped him escape the
apartied of South Africa to start over anew in the
U.S. He has repaid her time and again by showing that
he can trust her life with him. And the same would
automatically be true for her friends as well.}
Supporting characters
Vladimir Nirovi: Assistant head of the SVR. He assumes
command should anything happen to Gregorov.
John Ramirez: One of the CBDC agents that serve under
Chance.
Thomas Holden: He and Lian went through Agency
training together.
Characters from the first Syphon Filter that didn't
make it.
Thomas Markinson (Director of the Agency)
Sex: Male
Age: 52
Birthplace: Cambridge, Massachusetts
Nationality: American
Height: 6' 0"
Weight: 210 lbs.
Eye Color: Green
Hair Color: Grey
1997-1999: Agency Director
1986-1996: Defense Intelligence Staff, Washington D.C.
1976-1986: Army Intelligence, Washington D.C.
1968-1975: U.S. Army Special Forces; Purple Heart,
Medal of Honor, both earned during tours in Vietnam
{Markinson was the head of the Agency until Rhoemer
wasted him. He was part of the secret plan to sell
Syphon Filter overseas to terrorists. Unfortunately,
he got too greedy. And what happens when you get too
greedy? You become a liability. Markinson did do a
good job in fooling Gabe into doing all of his dirty
work. Especially in the catacombs when he thought he
was helping the test subjects.}
Edward Benton (Deputy Director of the Agency)
Sex: Male
Age: 47
Birthplace: Chicago, Illinois
Nationality: American
Height: 6' 0"
Weight: 210 lbs.
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Black and Grey
1999: Deputy Director, Agency
1993-1996: Division Chief, Agency
1984-1992: Intelligence Analyst, Balkan Region, Agency
1978-1984: Intelligence Analyst, South American
Region, Agency
{Benton's title may be Deputy Director, but his actual
role was that of sacrificial lamb. He was the one that
Gabe discovered at PharCom and was subsequently killed
by him. Apparently, Markinson wanted to get rid of
troublemakers from both sides and Benton was one of
the biggest around.}
Erich Rhoemer (International Terrorist)
Sex: Male
Age: 35
Birthplace: Leipzig, Germany
Nationality: German
Height: 6' 2"
Weight: 193 lbs.
Eye Color: Brown
Hair Color: Black
1997: Responsible for bombing the Comm Parks building,
London U.K.
1995: Airplane hijacking, Gulf Airlines, Istanbul,
Turkey
No records exist prior to 1994
Had ties with many terrorist organizations in South
America, the Middle East, Europe and the former USSR
{Everyone believed that Rhoemer was the mastermind of
the Syphon Filter sale, including him. All he was
basically used for was another scapegoat for Gabe and
Lian, and a supplier of troops so the Agency never had
to get their own hands dirty. But one doesn't become
the leader of a feared international terrorist
organization by being an idiot. He knew Phagan
couldn't be trusted, which is why he became an
unwilling test subject. He knew Markinson was going to
betray him, which resulted in his death. He lured Gabe
into a pretty elaborate trap in the Washington D.C.
subway that almost worked. Plus he figured that
pretending to kill Lian was better than actually
killing her since she could be then used as a test
subject without anyone looking for her. If given
enough time, he probably would've figured out that
Aramov and the others were playing him and killed them
all.}
Jonathan Phagan (CEO and Founder of PharCom
Industries, Inc.)
Sex: Male
Age: 65
Birthplace: Chicago, Illinois
Nationality: American
Height: 6' 5"
Weight: 190 lbs.
Eye Color: Hazel
Hair Color: White
1992-1999: CEO and Founder of PharCom
1983-1992: Vice President, Wyn Industries
1972-1983: Director of Laboratories, Wyn Industries
1965-1972: Research Chemist, Zyzon Labs
Helped bring both Zyzon Labs and Wyn Industries to the
forefront of the biotech industry.
Chairman, Society for the Advancement of
Biotechnological Materials.
{Phagan was the game's most misleading character. On
the surface, he seemed like some weakling that Rhoemer
was bullying into helping him. But as the story
progressed, you found out that the head of PharCom had
some deeply sinister stuff of his own planned for the
world. Don't forget, Dr. Weissinger, who had a major
role in creating Syphon Filter, was a PharCom
employee. He had a security force that rivaled a small
army. And Lord knows what he had planned for the ICBM
that Gabe found below the PharCom Warehouses. He even
managed to download vital information about the Agency
to keep them off his heels. If Aramov hadn't shot him
in the head, the world could have been groveling at
his feet. Now there's a scary thought.}
Anton Girdeaux (Munitions Expert Working for Rhoemer)
Sex: Male
Age: 29
Birthplace: Toulouse, France
Nationality: French
Height: 6' 0"
Weight: 200 lbs.
Eye Color: Blue
Hair Color: Blond
1992-1999: Mercenary for hire
1988-1992: Machinist
Girdeaux has no official records linking him to any
significant criminal activity.
Believed to have been recruited into the Black Baton
ranks by Mara Aramov.
{For those who don't remember, Girdeaux was the
flame-throwing lunatic that you met in the park
memorial. He had the distinct honor of being barbecued
alive by his own equipment. He didn't last long enough
to make that much of an impression, but someone at 989
Studios or Eidetic must've liked him. Be sure to catch
the cameo of Girdeaux (or what's left of him) during
the escape from the Agency lab.}
Weapons
9MM
Fire Rate: |||
Damage: ||
Clip Size: 15
Max Rounds: 90
This 9MM handgun is the standard issue side arm for
NATO and all five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces
since passing the 1979 MRBF (Mean Rounds Before
operational Failure) performance test, expending
35,000 rounds, six times the pistol’s service life.
{This is the weapon that Gabe starts out with. It’s
fairly powerful as three shots are usually enough for
anyone not wearing a flak jacket. It’s great for
one-on-one gunfights, but don’t try to take on groups
with it.}
45
Fire Rate: ||
Damage: |||
Clip Size: 10
Max Rounds: 60
This tough, durable pistol has been in production for
almost a century. It has tremendous stopping power,
and in spite of its strong recoil and heavy slide and
bolt, in the hands of a seasoned professional, it is a
deadly weapon.
{This is Lian’s starting weapon. This is also a good
one-on-one fighting weapon. It’s slightly more
powerful than the .45, but you probably won’t notice.}
Knife
Fire Rate: |
Damage: |||||
Clip Size: n/a
Max Rounds: n/a
This weapon incorporates a unique clip-point blade,
which is flat-ground and serrated with a sinuous
double curve. This design significantly amplifies the
cutting power of the knife.
{This is strictly a stealth-kill weapon. The only
effective way to use it is to sneak up behind the
unsuspecting target and hack it. Now you could in a
standard battle with soldiers armed with guns. If you
want to try it, good luck. I hope you have your
tombstone picked out.}
Hand Taser
Fire Rate: |
Damage: |||||
Clip Size: n/a
Max Rounds: infinite
Useable only at close range, this taser delivers a
100,000-volt charge that overrides the victim’s
nervous system, disrupting normal electrical signals
within the body’s nerve fibers. The target instantly
loses control of his body and unconsciousness follows
shortly.
{This is the non-lethal alternative to the knife. You
use this against the unsuspecting GIs you see
throughout the game.}
Grenade
Fire Rate: |
Damage: |||||
Clip Size: n/a
Max Rounds: 10
Upon detonation, this incendiary weapon spreads
ammonium perchlorate three meters outwards from the
blast point. It its instantly ignited by the explosion
and quickly burns out, fatally burning anyone nearby,
but leaving little collateral damage in the terrain.
{Grenades are what I consider “wing and a prayer”
weapons, as the conditions must be perfect for them to
be effective. You have to stand in the open, hope you
don’t get shot, judge your distance properly, hope
your target doesn’t move, and hope the blast doesn’t
take out any unintended objects. Plus, in tight
spaces, you hope it doesn’t bounce back toward you.}
Gas Grenade
Fire Rate: |
Damage: |||||
Clip Size: n/a
Max Rounds: 10
Primarily used as a stealth weapon against multiple
targets, this grenade releases trace amounts of Soman
nerve agent into the air. The gas quickly dissipates,
but not before rendering victims unconscious. If no
antidote is administered, death follows within 15
minutes.
{Gas grenades takes everything nerve-racking from the
regular grenades and adds that the blast area will be
lethal to you for a few seconds. I found that out the
hard way. The only advantage they have is that they
make virtually no noise when detonated, making it the
perfect stealth weapon.}
M-16
Fire Rate: ||||
Damage: ||
Clip Size: 30
Max Rounds: 180
This weapon is lightweight, accurate, and has very low
recoil. The preeminent assault rifle in the world, it
was developed by the U.S. Army in 1965, and has since
become a mainstay for armed forces, police, and
personal defense enthusiasts.
{This is the perfect weapon to have when surrounded by
a group of soldiers. The time it takes you to get
three shots with the .45, you can get about eight with
this rifle.}
H11
Fire Rate: |||||
Damage: |
Clip Size: 50
Max Rounds: 300
The H11 fires a caseless round specifically designed
for the weapon. The round’s compact design allow for a
large magazine capacity, and the lack of casing means
that no ejection port is necessary. With a bullpup
layout, the H11 comes equipped standard with a 1x
optical sight.
{This weapon is useless in a standard fight. The best
way to use it is as a substitute sniper rifle, as when
you go into target mode, it automatically zooms in
like a sniper’s scope.}
Silenced HK-5
Fire Rate: ||||
Damage: |||
Clip Size: 32
Max Rounds: 192
The HK-5’s modular design and small size makes it very
popular with both military Special Forces and
terrorists. With over 23 officially recognized
variations, it is fast becoming the most widely used
pistol-machine gun in the world.
{There’s not really much difference between this and
the M-16 other than the silencer. That makes it useful
in stealth missions.}
Shotgun
Fire Rate: ||
Damage: ||||
Clip Size: n/a
Max Rounds: 25
The 12-gauge modified choke shotgun is standard issue
for the DEA, FBI, and USSS. In firing tests using
tactical 00 shot with nine lead on an ISCP regulation
target at 25 yards, the payload was delivered into the
“A” kill zone with limited collateral damage.
{Despite the fact that it gives you the fewest max
rounds of all guns, despite that you must reload after
one shot, this is another perfect group weapon. Why?
Because that one shot will drop any standard soldier.}
Silenced Sniper Rifle
Fire Rate: ||
Damage: ||
Clip Size: 10
Max Rounds: 30
This high-caliber, silenced rifle comes equipped with
a classified digital scope with basic optical
character recognition, making it a highly accurate
weapon capable of identifying and classifying human
targets and impact points prior to firing.
{If you use this in any way other than zooming in and
blowing off your target’s head, then you deserve the
obvious result. This is another weapon designed
primarily for stealth, but if you can find something
to hide behind, this could be very useful in a
standard gunfight.}

Hielongjiang Province:
People's Republic of China
(Villagers are running for their lives as military
tanks and troops shoot everything and everybody in
sight.)
Channel 2 News Reporter: Tensions between the U.S. and
the People's Republic of China are on the rise today
as the Administration answers allegations that it
allowed sensitive U.S. technology to be sold to a
dissident group in Hielongjiang. In other news, we now
go live to the White House pressroom where Secretary
of State Vince Hadden is expected to comment on the
Kazakhstan missile incident.
Hadden: As many of you know, four hours ago a nuclear
missile was detonated over Kazakhstan. The Kazakhstan
government assures us this was an accidental launch
and that the missile was destroyed via their own
safety countermeasures. An investigation is underway.
I cannot answer any more questions at this time.
Channel 2 News Reporter: The entire area has been
closed off amid reports of possible contamination.
Local news stations report that precautions are being
taken…
White Mountain Apache Reservation:
Arizona
Teresa: You guys made the news. The Agency doesn't
like it when their operations go public, or so I
thought.
Lian (on radio): If we have our way, it's going to get
a lot more public than this. You ready for us?
Teresa: Smugglers use single-engine planes, not C-130
Transports you know. This old gravel road you call an
airstrip never tried to land anything that big before.
You sure you wanna bring it here?
Lian: We don't have much choice. E.T.A.: 16 hours.
PharCom Warehouses:
Alma-Alta Kazakhstan
Lian: Gabe, the transport's here.
Gabe: Chance, get up to the landing strip. I want that
transport ready to go in half an hour.
Chance: You got it. I'm already there.
Lian: (coughing)
Teresa (on radio): Lian, you okay? You don't sound so
good.
Lian: I'll be fine. Just make sure that airstrip is
ready. Teresa, you're the only one we can count on
now.
Teresa: I'll be ready. Out.
Lian: What the…?
Gabe: I've found the mainframe with PharCom's backup
data…and Phagan's personal files.
Lian: Gabe, the transport has an escort, two
Blackhawks running silent. It's Morgan and Falkan!
Morgan:…Okay, Got it. Out. She's at the second hangar.
Falkan, take the second squad and get her. First
squad, get Logan and those disks. U.N. forces are on
their way and we have to be finished before they get
here.
Falkan: Concussion grenades only. We need her alive.
Lian: Dobson, get those guys out of there. Tell them
to move!
Gabe: Pull your men back to the hangar and tell them
to wait, I'm on my way.
Lian: Already on it.
Gabe: We just have to hold them off until Gregorov
gets here. Ramirez, get these disks into the silo.
I'll signal you when the landing strip's clear.
Ramirez: Yes sir.
Gabe: Lian? Lian, do you copy?
(Gabe makes a pretty improbable run past Agency
commandos just in time to see Lian dragged into
Morgan’s chopper.)
Dr. Weissinger: She's the one.
Morgan: We have her…No, Logan is still alive.
Pilot: The Russians are here.
Morgan: We're out of time. We'll finish Logan later.
(The Agency leaves just as S.V.R. troops arrive.)
Gregorov: Move those vehicles out of here! I want the
airfield secured!
Chance: That's it, everything's locked down tight.
Gregorov: Logan. Your request for aid it came too
late, yes?
Gabe: They've taken her.
Gregorov: I am sorry. She and I are old friends. They
will kill her?
Gabe: As long as I have the disks, the Agency won't
harm her.
Gregorov: The Kazakhs are on their way. You must be
gone before they arrive. I never saw you.
Gabe: I understand. Okay Chance, let's get moving.
Rocky Mountains:
Colorado
Gabe: You got that airstrip ready, Teresa? E.T.A.: 2
hours.
Teresa (on radio): Yeah, it's clear. Might be a little
bumpy. Make sure you're strapped in tight.
Gabe: You okay Chance?
Chance: Damn concussion grenade, my ears won't stop
ringing. Hey, are we expecting an escort?
Gabe: What?!
Pilot: What the hell?
(Two F-22 fighter jets manned by Agency pilots shoot
at the transport plane’s wing.)
Gabe: Get moving! They're bringing this bird down
hard!
Chance: The data disks!
Gabe: No time! Kowalski, grab the C-4!
Kowalski: Yes sir!
Gabe: Grab the transponder locator! We'll need it!
Chance: You got it!
Gabe: Come on! Move it! Jump! Keep moving! Go! Go! Go!
Teresa, I'm not going to need your landing strip after
all! Coming down the hard way!
(Gabe is the last to jump out moments before the plane
explodes.)
Mission Briefing
Colorado, USA: Rocky Mountains
09/08 04:00
Operative: Gabe Logan
Your C-130 transport, returning from Kazakhstan, has
been shot down over the Colorado Rockies by Agency
fighters. You and a handful of CBDC agents were able
to get off in time, and are now spread out along a
mountain range. You must reach the C-130 crash site
and retrieve the PharCom data disks before the Agency
does.
Find Chance (Lieutenant, CBDC) and collect the C-130's
transponder locator. Use it to pinpoint the location
of the downed transport. Then use any and all means
necessary to reach that location. The data disks must
be retrieved to find a cure for Syphon Filter, and to
save Lian.
Gabe: Teresa, I made it.
Teresa: Was there ever any doubt? The Agency pays a
lot for its training.
Gabe: I'm not out of this yet. I've got to find Chance
and get the transponder locator from him. See if you
can find an Agency channel and break into it. I wanna
find out how big this operation is.
Teresa: You got it.
Gabe: Radio me if you hear from Lian.
Teresa: Okay. Hey Gabe, good luck.
Gabe: Right.
As soon as you touch down, you hear, "Kowalski! Man
down!" Run toward the group of soldiers to the right.
Gabe: Kowalski, how's the leg?
Kowalski: Definitely broken sir. Two places, pretty
sure. I don't think I can support my weight.
Gabe: All right, I want you men to stay here. Find
cover if you can. I need to find Chance. Do you know
what happened to him?
Kowalski: I know he made it off the transport. I think
he touched down somewhere south of here.
Gabe: Got it.
Turn around and head west to the ledge. Climb up the
ledge and run up to the soldier that is talking on the
radio.
Soldier: Do you copy? Come in, do you copy? Over.
Gabe: You've been able to raise anyone on that thing?
Soldier: I've been SOL so far, sir. Interference is
pretty bad. I don't think we can get a signal off this
mountain.
Gabe: Well don't waste your time. The Agency doesn't
want anyone else to know we're up here.
Soldier: Sir?
Gabe: I'm looking for Chance.
Soldier: Let me see what I can do. Lt. Chance, come
in. Do you read me?
Davis (on radio): This is Davis. I saw the Lieutenant
a few minutes ago. He's out looking for more
survivors. I think his comm. is down.
Gabe: Private, I need you to take me to him. Do you
copy that?
Davis: Yes, sir. I'm on my way to your location now.
Gabe: Roger that. Let's go.
Soldier: Yes sir.
Follow the soldiers into the cave. Don't stop until
you reach the other side.
Davis: He went into that cave.
Gabe: Right. You stay here and stay alert.
Davis: Are you expecting trouble sir?
Gabe: Always.
Go down the mountain and climb up into the next cave.
Don't stop until you reach the two soldiers.
Gabe: Eschleman, have you seen Chance?
Eschleman: Yes sir. I just saw him come through here
five minutes ago.
Gabe: This cave isn't stable. Watch yourself.
Eschleman: Yes sir.
Go down the mountain and you'll see Chance. Run up to
him. (Checkpoint #1)
Gabe: Chance, I've been looking all over for you.
You've got the transponder locator?
Chance: Yeah, it's right here. I got all turned
around. Damn, it's easy to get lost up here.
Gabe: I know. I've gotta go back and find some high
ground so I can get a reading on the transport's
location. You go ahead down the mountain and find the
highway. See if the Agency's moving in any heavy
artillery.
Chance: Yes sir. I'm on it.
Gabe: Teresa, have you heard anything from Lian yet?
Teresa: No, but I'm following Agency radio traffic.
They've set up shop in an old civil air patrol base in
Colorado pushing the locals around. At least that's
where the F-22s that shot you down scrambled from.
Gabe: That's where they've taken her.
Teresa: Watch your back, Gabe. They've got a convoy on
the way up there now and have mobilized a couple of
squadrons of spook air commandos. They'll be dropping
in on you any minute.
Gabe: Who's commanding them?
Teresa: Morgan's issuing the orders, but an old friend
is commanding the ground troops, Archer.
Gabe: I served with him in Guatemala. He was a young
brown-noser bucking for promotion.
Teresa: Well, looks like he made it.
Gabe: Keep me posted. Out.
You'll automatically be turned around when you regain
control. A commando will drop in right above you.
Shoot him before he reaches the ground. Run back into
the cave and Eschleman will start shooting at the
commandos coming behind you. This causes the cave to
collapse. Run up to the first entrance and don't stop.
(Checkpoint #2)
Ramirez: Eschleman! Eschleman! Answer me! Eschleman,
are you alive?!
Gabe: Forget about it. He's gone.
Ramirez: But he might be alive in there!
Gabe: Save it. I've got to get to Kowalski. He had a
few C-4 charges on him.
Ramirez: But…!
Gabe: Do you wanna get off this mountain?! We're gonna
have to blow our way out of here. I want you to stay
here. Keep everyone else out of this cave. Understood?
Ramirez: Yes sir…
Turn around and run back to the entrance. When you get
there, you'll see two soldiers trying to fight off a
group of commandos. Don't try to help them. A grenade
will be tossed at them and explode. Wait until after
that to run through the first cave. At the other end,
you'll be back where you started. Over the ledge to
the right, you'll see three commandos. Shoot them all
with headshots and then jump down and collect their
ammo. After that, run over to Kowalski who is already
dead. (Checkpoint #3)
Teresa: Gabe, how you doing out there?
Gabe: Not good. We're under heavy fire. I've lost six
men already.
Teresa: What are you gonna do?
Gabe: I'm not gonna let anymore of these men die on
this mountain. Out.
As you turn to go back to the cave, you see more
commandos dropping in. Take out as many as you like on
your way. When you make it to the cave-in site, set
the explosives (press triangle), turn around and run.
You have five seconds to get clear. After the
explosion, run through to the other side of the cave.
(Checkpoint #4)
Gabe: Hold up.
Ramirez: What is it?
Gabe: I'm picking something up.
Archer (on radio): We're making the drop now. Morgan
says you got two hours to finish the operation.
Commando (on radio): That's not enough time. These
guys aren't just falling over dead.
Archer: Morgan's ordered the F-22s back for refueling
and ordinance. This entire mountain's going up in a
cloud of gas. You've gotta be ready to clear out.
Gabe: Ramirez, get down the mountain and meet up with
Chance. I'll handle this.
The commando on the ledge to the right throws
grenades, so climb up there and take him out first.
Then you can take out the other three from the cave
opening. Go back to the clearing between the first and
second caves and go up the hill going east. There will
be a shotgun at the top. Go through the opening to the
right and you'll hear a commando talking. Don't go too
far or he'll see you.
Commando: Archer says we'll have the place locked down
within an hour, but they're putting up a fight. No sir
no sign of him, our contact says he's up here though.
Yes sir, I'll pass it on.
Peer around the corner and shoot one of the commandos.
When you do, another one will come out from where the
flare is. After shooting him, take out the other two.
Climb up to the highest point of the rocks and use the
transponder locator (press triangle). (Checkpoint #5)
Gabe: Teresa, I've got a lock on the transport's
location and I'm heading down the mountain. Hear
anything yet?
Teresa: You're gonna love this one. The Agency's
leaked a story saying the transport plane was blown up
by terrorists. Special agents have closed down half of
Colorado to "help quarantine off a potential
biohazard" at the crash site. They're covering their
butts good.
Gabe: Misinformation, that's one thing the Agency's
good at.
Teresa: Gabe once you find the crash site and get the
disks, how are you gonna get out of there alive?
Gabe: Not sure, I'm making this up as I go. Out.
Climb down the rocks slowly and run to the bottom of
the mountain. Go back to where you fought the four
commandos (left Ramirez, found Chance) and go to the
cave on the other side of the chasm. Keep going until
you reach a dead end (Checkpoint #6), then climb up
the opening to the east. Run to the opening and you'll
notice that snipers have a lock on your head.
Immediately roll forward to the soldiers in front of
you.
Gabe: Give me a sit rep.
Ramirez: We've got two snipers, one on either bluff.
They've got us pinned and we're low on ammo. Ferguson
took one in the shoulder, but he'll make it.
Gabe: Right. Here's what we're gonna do: you give me
some cover fire while I move around to flank 'em. I'll
take 'em from the south and signal you when it's
clear. Understood?
Ramirez: Yes sir.
Ferguson: Yes sir.
Gabe: Good. All right, ready? Move!
Ramirez: Go! Go! Go!
This part is tricky. Immediately run behind the rocks
to the right. After the two soldiers fall back to the
opening, peer out and shoot the sniper at the wall in
the head. You'll have to since they're both wearing
flak jackets. Then position yourself so you can peer
right and aim for the sniper above you. Do this before
they see you, or they'll start shooting and hiding.
(Checkpoint #7)
Gabe: Clear!
Ramirez: Kick ass!
Gabe: Stand your ground. I'm gonna scout ahead.
Climb up the rocks and get the grenades at the top.
Then cross the ledge to the other side where the first
sniper was and go through the opening.
Ramirez: We've got trouble! Incoming from all sides!
Heavily armed!
Gabe: Dammit!
Turn around and go back to the ledge and you'll see a
group of commandos shooting at the soldiers. You must
kill them before they kill the soldiers. From the
ledge, shoot all of them with headshots. You can throw
a grenade at the ones on the far ledge, but none of
the others. The ones on the right are too close, and
throwing one on the ground below will kill the
soldiers too. Also don't jump to the ground or the
commandos will start to shoot you. (Checkpoint #8)
Gabe: Ramirez, you stay here with Ferguson. Arm
yourselves and you should be safe. As soon as I find a
clear way to the highway, I'll come back for you.
Ramirez: Yes sir.
Ferguson: I'll be fine, sir.
Gabe: Okay, hang on. Won't be long.
Turn around and run back down the opening.
(Gabe stops when he sees Archer’s chopper hovering in
front of him.)
Archer: Sorry Logan. If it were up to me, I'd let you
live. Agency orders.
Gabe: Sure you would.
(Gabe jumps over the side as a missile is fired toward
him.)
Council of Foreign Relations:
Washington D.C.
Cochran: W-We're working on it now. You'll have your
shipment by the end of the week.
Man (on phone): You have three days. If I don't have
it by then, there may be a leak to the American press.
Cochran: I'm sorry but-
(Dial tone)
Mystery Man: Most unfortunate.
Cochran: Stevens' men have the woman now. As soon as
they get the plasma-
Aramov: What about Logan?
Stevens: There wasn't time. The U.N. peacekeeping
forces had already arrived when-
Aramov: Another Agency screw-up! Do you have any idea
how close your incompetence has come to killing us
all?
Stevens: I am not responsible for the actions of my
predecessor. Markinson was not in control.
Aramov: Markinson was your man.
Stevens: As Rhoemer was yours. And what about
Gregorov? You were supposed to keep the Russians away
from the PharCom warehouses at Kazakhstan.
Aramov: You're not going to blame me for your
incompetence! The S.V.R. is not under my control any
more than Rhoemer's terrorists were.
Mystery Man: Enough. We all have much at steak.
Stevens: Logan was one of our best agents. He has the
highest level of training and years of field
experience. It won't be easy.
Mystery Man: I see. Perhaps I'm not being clear.
Success is everything. Is it not Mr. Cochran?
Cochran: It will be impossible to get the plasma from
the woman as long as Logan is alive.
Mystery Man: I think you overestimate Mr. Logan's
abilities. You were given Mr. Phagan's job because you
promised to have Phase 2 of the virus ready in time.
Cochran: It's not my fault that Rhoemer lost the girl
before we could extract the…!
Mystery Man: But like Markinson and Rhoemer, you have
failed.
Cochran: All right look, I'm sorry that things didn't
go according to plan, but-
(Aramov snaps Cochran’s neck from behind.)
Mystery Man: You see Mr. Stevens, a simple
demonstration. Mara has proven her usefulness, Mr.
Cochran has not. Logan will be taken care of. We will
have the female's plasma soon.
Stevens: I have an army on the way to Colorado now,
and my men are at the airbase with Lian Xing.
Mystery Man: There will be no more delays.
McKenzie Airforce Base:
Colorado
Morgan: You can take a break, airman. We'll be done in
ten minutes.
Airman: I'll need to see your I.D. sir.
Falkan: We're with FEMA. Do we need to refer to your
commander?
Airman: Uh, no sir.
Morgan: We'll check on Phagan. You finish the other
CDBC agent. Stevens wants us back in New York.
Dr. Weissinger: Watch her. She's been unconscious for
much longer that I would have expected. The virus
should not have weakened her so much this early in its
development cycle.
Holman: I'll head over to the secured hangar and see
if the F-22s are back for refueling and ordinance.
Morgan: No. You get over to the main gate and make
sure our package gets through unhindered. I'll take
care of the pilots personally.
Doctor: Let's see… Two bags of plasma ought to be
enough. You won't feel a thing.
(Lian knocks him out with one punch.)
Lian: NO, you're the one who won't feel a thing.
(coughing) Okay, now let's find my gear.
Colorado, USA: McKenzie Airbase
09/08 04:45
Operative: Lian Xing
Agency operatives have abducted you from Kazakhstan
and brought you to McKenzie Air Force Base in
Colorado. You must escape the holding facility and
find a way off base. If possible, observe Morgan and
his operatives and uncover any Agency plans you can.
Airbase personnel believe you're a terrorist under
quarantine, and will fire if they spot you. Avoid
detection, and use non-lethal means to eliminate any
obstacles to your goal.
You have two minutes to find an adrenaline booster or
else you'll pass out and the game is over. Since you

have no weapons of any kind, you will need to sneak
past the guards to get from room to room. Exit the
holding room and turn right. Go through the first
opening to the right and you will hear a conversation
between Falkan and Dr. Weissinger. Don't move until
the conversation is over.
Falkan: Doctor.
Dr. Weissinger: Yes?
Falkan: Are you finished with him?
Dr. Weissinger: I've given him the injection. It will
take a moment for it to work.
Falkan: Morgan wants you to come check Phagan. I think
the last of the serum bags are filled.
Dr. Weissinger: Let me go check on Lian Xing first.
Falkan: No. Morgan said to come now.
When they leave, go into the room they just left and
grab the adrenaline shot. (Checkpoint #1)
Lian: Dobson… I told you to get back! Why didn't you
listen to me?
Exit the room and go left. At the next hallway, there
is a guard to the right, so go left. At the next
hallway go left, sneaking behind the guard when he's
walking up the hall. Follow him until you get to the
open door on the left side and go through it.
(Checkpoint #2)
Falkan: I've relieved the guard. We won't be
disturbed.
Morgan: Good. Doctor, is your work with him done?
Dr. Weissinger: Yes, that's the last we need from him.
We get the rest from Xing.
Morgan: Then let's tie up a loose end. Unplug him.
Dr. Weissinger: Wait, I can still use him back at the
lab. We still have not fully studied the long-term
effects of the virus on certain genetic structures. I
can use him for…
Morgan: My orders are to make Phagan disappear when
you have finished extracting his plasma. The Agency
can't risk the government finding PharCom's C.E.O.
infected with an unknown virus.
Dr. Weissinger: I see, and it doesn't help that he has
Aramov's bullet in his brain, does it?
Morgan: You can use the girl for your other tests.
Dr. Weissinger: Fine, if you insist. I'll call the New
York labs and see if they're ready for us.
Morgan: I'll go with you. You go on ahead and check on
the F-22s. Make sure they have the Sarin canisters
loaded and ready for a run on the survivors.
Falkan: I'll see what's keeping Holman.
Flip the switch on the right and that will lift the
mirror and let you in the other room. From there, go
right, then left down the hallway round the corner and
you'll see another guard walking down the hallway.
Sneak in the doorway on the right and listen to the
conversation.
Airman: Buzz me out, Carter.
Carter: Where are you going?
Airman: I've gotta get some air. Those government guys
are giving me the creeps. Something's going on in
there.
Carter: Yeah, I know what you mean. They just brought
up a couple of body bags, and I just got a call from
the C.O. saying the entire base has been quarantined
and locked down tight.
Airman: I'll be back up in a few.
Wait until the guard leaves and then sneak down the
hall and to the right. As long as you sneak, you'll go
right under the sight of the guard at the counter. Go
through the open door to the right, then to the locker
room to the left and grab your gear. (Checkpoint #3)
Lian: Gabe? Are you there? Gabe?
Teresa: Lian, where are you? Are you all right?
Lian: Teresa? It's good to hear a familiar voice. I'm
fine. They're holding me at some civil airbase in
Colorado. Where's Gabe?
Teresa: He's run into trouble. Transport's down
somewhere in the mountains.
Lian: Gabe's in trouble?
Teresa: Yeah, but what else is new? I think he's more
worried about you than himself.
Lian: Gabe knows better than to worry about me.
Teresa: Lian are you okay?
Lian: I'm running on an adrenaline booster right now.
Winding down fast. Get this information to him right
away. He was right about Phagan. They were keeping him
alive incubating some new strain of the virus.
Probably the same strain I'm infected with. They
must've injected us both while we were imprisoned in
the catacombs.
Teresa: Oh my God!
Lian: I'm sure that's why they brought me here. They
were using this airbase to fly infected test subjects
in and out of the states bypassing international
quarantines.
Teresa: The Agency's also using it to shut down air
routes all over the Rockies.
Lian: Makes for a good front. Tell Gabe that the
Agency lab complex is somewhere in New York. I'm gonna
try to find out where. Okay, (coughing) I'm gonna get
a chopper and I'm gonna get out of here. Does Gabe
have an EVAC plan yet?
Teresa: No, he's having me monitor Agency radio
traffic while he gets to the crash site. I think he's
gonna try to requisition a chopper there.
Lian: Tell him not to, I'll give him a ride myself. Do
you have his coordinates?
Teresa: No.
Morgan: We're ready to leave airman. Buzz us out.
Carter: Yes sir.
Lian: Never mind, I'll get them from the tower.
Dr. Weissinger: I'm going to head over to the other
infirmary and make sure that the rest of the plasma
has been properly refrigerated.
Morgan: Okay, our F-22s are coming in now. As soon as
I deal with them I'll meet you at the tower.
You now have a taser. This will enable you to take out
the guards without killing them. To do this, you need
to sneak up behind them without touching them and
shock them with it. Sneak up behind the guard at the
counter and shock him. Flip the switch to the right
and quickly run through the door Morgan and Dr.
Weissinger went through before it closes. Quickly go
through the door at the bottom of the stairs and hide
in the doorway to the left. A guard will come around
waiting to be buzzed in. Shock him. Go down the
hallway to the right and take out the guard there.
Once that's done, run to the end of the hallway.
Airman: All right hold it, Miss. Stop right there.
Lian: You don't understand. I'm not a prisoner. You
don't know who these men are.
Airman: You're right. I don't know who they are, but I
know they're not from FEMA, over here. I overheard two
of them. They're planning to kill you. You can get out
here.
Lian: Thanks.
Airman: If you're trying to get to the airfield, it's
southwest of here. I'll check in at the security
office and cover your absence as long as I can. Good
luck.
Lian: You're taking a huge risk, airman
Airman: I took an oath to uphold the law. Who are
these people? C.I.A? N.S.A?
Lian: Not exactly.
Airman: You don't have much time. Good luck.
Lian: Thanks again.
(Gabe finds himself on a highway below the mountain.)
Chance: Over here!
Gabe: Chance, you made it.
Chance: This is crazy. A whole convoy of troops is
moving up the highway. How are we gonna get out of
here?
Gabe: We're not, unless we get some gear. I lost
everything in the rockslide. What are you packing?
Chance: An M-16, but I'm low. There's a bunch of
supply trucks in the tunnel. I saw 'em back up like
crazy when the road collapsed.
Gabe: Okay, here's what we do: you move across the
road and create a diversion. I'll get into the tunnel
and find a supply truck. When I'm armed, I'll come
back and get you.
Chance: All right if you say so, but I'm not gonna be
able to hold 'em off long.
Gabe: You'll do fine. If something moves, shoot it.
Colorado, USA: Interstate 70
09/08 05:15
Operative: Gabe Logan
Chance has scouted the highway ahead and found a
convoy of armed Agency commandos, stopped by the
avalanche that was caused by Archer’s missile attack.
You must get past this convoy to reach the C-130 crash
site and retrieve the data disks.
However, you lost your arsenal in the avalanche.
Chance will create a distraction to draw enemy fire
while you enter the tunnel. Search the back of any
transport trucks you find to re-equip yourself.
Afterwards, protect Chance and fight your way to the
crash site.
Chance: Hey! You want some of this?!
Commando: Over there! Get him!
Commando: On that wall! Go! Go!
Chance: Get moving, I can hold them.
Run into the tunnel on the right and keep going until
you make it behind the first truck with the canopy on
back of it. Don't worry about the commandos shooting
at you. If you don't stop and don't run in front of
them, they won't hit you. Once you make it behind the
truck, grab the weapons and flak jacket and take out
the soldier standing there. (Checkpoint #1) Then take
care of the two that you saw on the way in and the one
that pops up behind you.
Chance: Get back here; I'm almost out of ammo!
Gabe: Just hold them a little longer.
Run back out of the entrance and take out the two
commandos you saw at the beginning. Then shoot the
third on top of the tunnel entrance. After they're
gone, run back inside the tunnel and meet Chance.
(Checkpoint #2)
Chance: That was close.
Gabe: I told you you'd do fine. Now listen, the
tunnel's gonna be crawling with troops, so stay with
me and keep your eyes open.
Chance: Yes sir.
Run inside the tunnel and shoot any commandos you see
in your way. Note that Chance will be by your side
shooting the commandos too, so don't hit him
accidentally. Keep going until you hear Chance say,
"Gabe, we've got trouble." Then go up to where he is
kneeling.
Chance: Dammit, they've all got flak jackets. I hope
you've got a plan.
Gabe: Stay low.
This will be the one and only time that you get to use
a flamethrower. As long as you aim horizontally,
you'll be able to hit your targets. When Chance warns
you, turn around and hit the commando that is running
up behind you, then turn back around and finish the
rest. After that, run over to the outside of the
tunnel grabbing ammo and flak jackets along the way.
(Checkpoint #3)
Chance: There's just one guard out there. Does that
seem right to you?
Gabe: Yeah, it seems right… for an ambush.
Chance: That's what I was thinking. What'll we do?
Gabe: Stay back. I'll let you know when it's safe to
come up.
This is the longest and easiest way past this part.
There are five commandos standing guard that you have
to kill with your knife. Make sure that they don't see
or hear you, which means you have to come at them from
behind and you can't run. If you are discovered, the
commandos will attack with reinforcements, meaning the
snipers that will take aim at your head.
Commando #1- Checks the right and the front of the
jeep.
Gabe: Move, now.
Commando #2- Goes from one side of the street to the
other.
Gabe: Move up to the next truck.
Commando #3- Can see the entire street from the right
edge. Climb the percussion barrier to get him from the
other side.
Commando #4- Sneak up until you hear this
conversation.
Commando #4: How long we out here?
Commando #5: Till we find Logan, I guess.
Commando #4: Great.
Wait until the other commando leaves, then he'll go to
the other side of the street and return back to the
other side for good.
Gabe: Move up.
Commando #5- Stands behind the truck.
If you are discovered at this point, make a mad dash
inside the second tunnel. Watch the commando in the
doorway to your left. After taking care if him,
continue inside the tunnel. (Checkpoint #4)
Chance: Damn. There's two APCs sitting in the middle
of the roadway. They'll cut us in half.
Gabe: Right, but they can't hit what they can't see.
Chance: The lights! If we can get them out, we can
make it past the APCs in the dark. If this tunnel is
anything like the first one, we'll find a power-room
back the way we came.
Gabe: We'll need explosives.
Chance: We found gear in trucks before.
Gabe: Yeah, great. You got any idea how I'm gonna
search a truck without taking a couple of dozen slugs?
Commando: There's no escape Logan! Come out with your
hands in the air!
Chance: Hold your fire! I'm coming out!
Gabe: Are you crazy?! Get back here!
Chance: You've got a better idea? No matter what
happens, stick to the plan. Find some explosives and
take out that power room.
Go to the truck on the right, going between it and the
tunnel wall. Sneak up to the back and grab the
grenades.
Commando: You, stay down!
Commando: This isn't Logan.
Commando: Where's Logan?
Commando: If Logan isn't out here in two minutes,
you're a dead grunt.
Chance: Don't listen to 'em, Gabe!
Go back the way you came until you get to the doorway
where you took out the last commando. Kick the door
open and go right. Turn the corner and you'll see the
power room. Throw a grenade in there and run. Once the
explosion occurs, you will switch to night vision.
(Checkpoint #5)
Chance: Power's out, Gabe. It worked. I can't see five
feet in front of me but I can hear plenty of voices
and lots of spooks walking around down here.
Gabe: All right, I want you to pull back, find
someplace safe and hide there. I'll send back help
when I can.
Chance: Gabe, what if those APCs have IR gear?
Gabe: They don't. If they did, we wouldn't be talking.
Chance: Roger. Don't forget about me, man.
Run back into the tunnel and continue to the tunnel
exit. You don't have to worry about the commandos
unless you're two feet in front of them, or you're in
desperate need of ammo.
(Just outside the tunnel.)
Commander: Several GIs have made it to the highway and
are heading this way. We've lost contact with half the
convoy.
Archer: Leave 'em, Morgan's ordered the air strike.
Within an hour, every living thing on this mountain
will be dead. As soon as the charges are set, pull
your men back to the other side of the bridge. I wanna
make sure that nothing gets past here.
Commander: They're setting the charges now.
Archer: Everyone's expendable here, Lieutenant. If
they're not off the bridge when I give the order, blow
it anyway.
Commander: Yes sir.
Archer: Let's get outta here.
Colorado, USA: I-70 Mountain Bridge
09/08 05:45
Operative: Gabe Logan
Archer has ordered that a bridge along I-70 be
destroyed to prevent you and any CBDC survivors from
escaping the mountain. They then plan to bomb the
mountain with Sarin nerve gas. You must keep the
bridge intact.
Silently kill the Agency commander before he gives the
order to detonate, and then disarm the charges, which
are planted on the scaffolding below the bridge. Once
this is accomplished, continue towards your primary
objective: the C-130 crash site.
Commander: When the charges are set, I'm gonna call
for an evac of the bridge and then we blow it. Until
then, everyone keep watch for Logan. Out.
You have two minutes to take out the commander and the
commando he is talking to. None of the weapons you
have will kill both of them without signaling the
others. Immediately run to the right edge of the
bridge and hang off the side. Inch your way to the
right until you get to the first truck with a canopy.
Pull yourself up, run to the back and grab the items
in there (Checkpoint #1).
You should have between 30 and 25 seconds left. Facing
south, run to the right side of the truck back to
where the commander is. Don't get too close or they'll
see you. Use the gas grenade that you just grabbed to
take them both out. Then go over the ledge on your
right and drop down to the platform below to see the
soldier. Make sure you hit the platform closest to you
or you'll fall off the bridge. Once there, shoot the
commando in the head with your newly acquired sniper
rifle. Then drop to the platform below and run up to
the middle. Make two rights and drop down again. Turn
right and disarm the bomb (Checkpoint #2).
Face north and go to the left. Climb up the platform
and go across the middle to the right side. Climb up
that platform and zoom the sniper rifle into the
commando on the far left side. You should see two
other bombs there. After shooting him, hop up on the
bridge ledge. Inch your way left back to the point
where the commander was. Cross over to the other side
and inch your way over. Don't stop until you get to
the second droppable platform. Drop down there to the
bomb that you saw earlier. (Checkpoint #3)
Commando #1: What's going on back up the road?
Commando #2: Blue team caught a couple of GI hero
wannabes. They're questioning them now.
Commando #1: They're not gonna last long.
Drop down to the center platform and go right. Climb
the top platform, turn left and climb the platform
above it. Hop onto the ledge and inch right to the
next droppable platform. Drop down and look to the
lower right to see the commando walking around.
Quickly shoot him before he sees you. Drop down to the
center platform and go to the one on the left. At the
edge, there is another platform below. Take it to the
center platform there and turn right. Then defuse the
bomb on the left. (Checkpoint #4)
Go back the way you came but don't go to the upper
platform where you shot the commando from. Drop down
to the slanting platform below. Go down the center
platform, then right twice. Keep going until you're
close enough to the straight platform. Climb the other
platform, and disarm the final bomb. (Checkpoint #5)
Go back the way you came and climb onto the bridge and
go to the tunnel. It doesn't matter if the guards see
you because the danger has passed. (Checkpoint #6)
Commando #1: It's Logan! Blow the bridge now!
Commando #2: We can't! The charges are dead!
As you go into the tunnel, you will see two commandos
holding two soldiers hostage. You once again have the
problem of having to kill them at the same time. You
need to hurry because they will soon see you and in
response, kill them.
Thompson: Why don't you just kill us now?
Commando #3: Shut up!
Thompson: Is that all you got?
Commando #3: I said shut up!
Using your sniper rifle, target the head of the
commando that is standing still. Wait for the other
one to walk in front of him and shoot. The bullet will
go through both of them. (Checkpoint #7)
Thompson: What the hell?
Gabe: Ramirez, where's Ferguson?
Ramirez: Ferguson bought it on the mountain.
Gabe: Thompson, you okay?
Thompson: I'm okay, sir. A little banged up, but I can
make it. We tried to fight them off, but they hit us
hard.
Gabe: All right, stay with me and stay close. It's
gonna be tight getting out of here alive. Teresa, I'm
past the bridge. Give me a route.
Teresa: Just east of you is the rail line. Follow it
south. It cuts directly through the mountains to the
crash site. And Gabe, I've heard from Lian.
Gabe: Is she all right?
Teresa: She's okay for now. Once you're clear I'll
give you a report, but she's safe.
Gabe: Copy. Okay, let's go.
Continue down the tunnel with the two soldiers by your
side. You'll have to stop for three trucks, each
carrying three commandos with flak jackets. Once
they're done, continue to the end of the tunnel.
Gabe: Okay, I'm leaving you guys here. I left Chance
back in the first tunnel. I want you to get him and
get off this mountain.
Thompson: Will do.
Gabe: Radio me when you get to a safe place. I'll try
to…
Ramirez: Look out!
(Archer’s chopper shows up again and fires another
missile.)
(Back at the airbase.)
Morgan: Commander, Stevens wants me to personally
thank you for the job you've done here.
Pilot #1: W-Wait a minute!
(Morgan shoots the pilot in the head.)
Morgan: Now Commander, we will try again. Get this
plane refueled. We have another mission for you to
fly. No one gets off that mountain alive.
Pilot #2: Yes sir!
Colorado, USA: McKenzie Airbase
09/08 05:15
Operative: Lian Xing
You’ve escaped the airbase holding facility and give
yourself an adrenaline booster shot to stave off the
effects of Syphon Filter. You must now find a way into
the base control tower and then steal a chopper. If
possible, observe Morgan and his operatives and
uncover any Agency plans you can.
Airbase personnel believe that you’re a terrorist
under quarantine, and will fire if they spot you.
Avoid detection, and use non-lethal means to eliminate
any obstacle to your goal.
Lian: Teresa, come in. I'm out of the holding complex.
Teresa: I read you. What's your plan?
Lian: First, I'm gonna find a decent silenced weapon
in case I run into any Agency operatives. Then I'll
have to find some way to get into that air traffic
control tower.
Teresa: After all that, finding a chopper to hitch a
ride on should be a piece of cake. How you holding up?
Lian: I've been better. Out.
Right in front of you, there are two airmen talking.
Stay behind the bushes until one leaves.
Sargent: Valler, one of the feds needs a lift over the
main gate. I want you to double-time it over to Adman
and drive the truck for him.
Valler: Who are these guys, Sarge? What the hell are
they up to?
Sargent: Don't ask questions, airman, just move.
Valler: Yes sir.
After he leaves, sneak up to the other airman and
shock him. Follow the path that the first one went
down to the opening.
Holman: What took you so long? I've been waiting here
for ten minutes.
Valler: Yes sir.
Holman: I'm supposed to be at the main gates clearing
a shipment. If I'm late, I'll have you busted down,
airman.
Valler: Sorry sir. I'll get you there.
Lian: Teresa, I've got something. I think I just saw
Thomas Holman here at the base. We went through Agency
training together.
Teresa: Holman… Don't know him.
Lian: He was assigned to the FEMA unit. I'm betting
he'll know where the labs are.
Teresa: So what are you gonna do?
Lian: I'm gonna get him to tell me.
There are two airmen in the area, one behind the truck
to the left, and one in front of the alleyway on the
other side of the parking lot. Get the one behind the
truck first and grab the sniper rifle inside the back
of the truck. (Checkpoint #1) Hide behind the truck
and wait for your opportunity to get the second
soldier, then go through the alleyway. Climb up the
roof of the building and drop down to the ground.
Airman #1: Did you hear that?
Airman #2: Hear what?
Airman #1: I thought I heard something. I'll go check
it out.
Stand directly in front of the truck until the first
airman walks out. Sneak around him to the warehouse
opening where you will see the second airman. Climb
the boxes to the left and climb down. Sneak behind the
second airman and shock him. Then go for the first
airman who is walking around the truck. Go inside the
warehouse until you hear Morgan and Falkan talking.
Morgan: I want my chopper cleared for immediate
takeoff. Put the second chopper on standby. I'll be
there shortly.
Falkan: The rest of the cargo looks secure. Everything
from PharCom West is now accounted for.
Airman: Sir, the F-22 is refueled and ready for
takeoff, but the payload you are waiting for hasn't
gotten here yet. Your pilot seemed anxious that I tell
you.
Morgan: That will be all, airman. Get on the radio and
ask Holman what the delay is. We can't afford any more
screw-ups.
Stay in the corner until the airman walks by, and then
shock him. Go around the corner and go forward until
you receive another message from Teresa.
Teresa: Lian, I've confirmed it with Gabe. The Agency
is going to carpet bomb the mountain with nerve gas.
You've gotta stop 'em.
Lian: I know. I'm gonna take out that pilot and
sabotage the plane. That should buy Gabe enough time
to get off the mountain with any GIs he can save.
Teresa: Right, I'll let him know. Out.
Go to the building to the right and flip the switch to
open the door. Go inside and keep going until you hear
the pilot talking.
Pilot #2: No sir… I'm sorry sir… Yes, I have the
transport's location and the tower has cleared me. I'm
still waiting for the payload. Evidently Holman had
trouble getting it through the main gates. I'm told
it's on its way now.
Since the pilot is an Agency operative, he can be
killed. Use your sniper rifle to finish him.
(Checkpoint #2) Then go under the plane and open the
access panel. (Checkpoint #3)
Lian: Teresa, radio Gabe and tell him I'm almost
clear. He may have a ride yet.
Teresa: You'd better hurry or he's not gonna need one.
He's catching a train.
Lian: What?
Teresa: I'll explain later. E.T.A. on the chopper?
Lian: I'm on my way to the tower now. I… Someone's
coming.
Teresa: You can't let him find that pilot's body.
Lian: I know. Out.
Wait at the corner until the airman is in view. Then
sneak up to him and shock him. Leave the room and two
more airmen will be where the boxes are. Wait until
they both go behind the hangar and sneak past them
staying to the right. In front of you is a stack of
high boxes. Go behind them and shoot the moving
spotlight with the sniper rifle. Then go until you
reach the side passage. (Checkpoint #4)
Wait until a truck comes by and jump on its side. Stay
on it and watch closely for an opening on the other
side. When you see that, drop off the truck and go
through the opening to the next building. In the giant
room, you'll see Morgan and Falkan again. Follow them
to the doorway they went through staying close to the
left wall to avoid being seen by the airman.
(Checkpoint #5)
Morgan: What's the holdup on that F-22 payload?
Holman: It should be there. I cleared it through the
gates myself.
Morgan: Well let's go see what's holding them up.
Dr. Weissinger: No! We must leave for New York now if
the lab is going to have the time it needs to process
this plasma.
Morgan: We don't have the samples from the girl yet.
Dr. Weissinger: We can begin processing Phagan's
sample and do hers when it arrives. Otherwise the
shipment will be delayed.
Morgan: Understood. Get to that other airstrip pronto
and check on that F-22 personally. Then get over to
the infirmary and see what's holding up that medic. He
should be finished with her soon.
Holman: Right.
Falkan: Should I wait here?
Morgan: Okay, you get the other chopper cleared and
ready for takeoff. As soon as Holman gets back I want
you to personally deliver the girl's plasma to the
labs.
Falkan: Understood.
Lian: Teresa, Holman's separated from the others. This
may be my one chance to get to him. I'm gonna make my
move now.
Teresa: Great. Just don't kill him before you get the
information, okay?
Lian: Got it. Out.
Go right and sneak back into the building you were
just in. wait for Holman to get rid of the airman and
follow him into the hallway. Get to him before he
leaves the building or you'll lose your chance.
(Checkpoint #6)
(Lian sneaks behind Holman and knocks him down.)
Lian: Hello, Holman. Standard silenced HK-5. Good.
Remember me?
Holman: Lian, you escaped! Thank God!
Lian: Don't even try. I know what you're planning.
Holman: No, I was trying to stall them. Trying to find
a way to get you off the base without…
Lian: You just loaded two missiles with Sarin gas
payloads into an F-22 meant for the survivors of a
plane crash.
Holman: N-No, that's not true! I…!
Lian: You're a liar, Holman, and not a very good one.
Another Agency course you failed in training? You
wanna beg for your life, you tell me where Morgan is
taking that plasma.
Holman: I don't know what you're talking about.
(Lian shoots Holman in the leg with his gun.)
Lian: I'M DYING, HOLMAN! Syphon Filter is killing me
and I am running out of patience! Where are they
taking Phagan's plasma, and where were they planing to
take mine?!
Holman: I can't help you. I don't know where they're
taking the plasma. All I know is I was assigned to
Morgan. He said we were picking up biomaterials for
transport.
Lian: Transport to where?
Holman: I don't know! I only know that our next
assignment was to pick up some disks from the PharCom
Exposition Center in New York. They don't tell me
anything. I was just following orders.
Lian: Yeah? Well we were all "just following orders".
Holman: Just make it quick.
(Lian pulls the trigger, but the gun is empty.)
Lian: You have no idea what you're involved in. Maybe
you'll learn, if you live long enough. I'd suggest not
going into work tomorrow. Your boss might not be as
forgiving as I am.
Go back into the large room and get rid of the airman
that is behind the truck. Go to the next room and
watch for the airman there. Go around the corner to
the long hallway to the right. At the opening to the
left, shoot the moving spotlight on the top of the
control tower. Go back up the long hallway and watch
for the airman patrolling the area. When he turns
away, make your move for him. After he's done, go to
the truck on the left side of the control tower. On
the driver's side, start the ignition and immediately
run to the left. When the airmen leave to try and stop
it, run inside the control tower. (Checkpoint #7)
Run in the elevator to the right and take it to the
top floor. Once there, sneak around to the right and
take out the airman at the electronic map. Then sneak
around the other way and get the other airman before
he sees what happened to his partner. At the wall next
to the map, get the transponder frequency.
Lian: All right, (coughing) I've got a transponder
frequency of the downed plane.
Teresa: Now all you need is that ride.
Lian: I think the Agency's provided for me on that
one. Falkan's chopper is cleared for takeoff. If I can
stop him, I can take the chopper and no one's the
wiser.
Teresa: Nice plan. Good luck.
Go back down to the ground floor, go straight, then
left.
Falkan: All right, I'm through waiting. You stay here.
When Agent Holman arrives, tell him to contact me
directly and I'll give him further instructions.
Airman: Yes sir.
Quickly sneak up to the airman and shock him. Then do
the same to Falkan before he gets to the chopper. Then
all you have to do is run to the chopper yourself.
Lian: Teresa, I've got a ride and clearance all the
way to the crash site.
Teresa: GSED's reporting a huge fire. Probably caused
by the crash, but who knows? Big smoke is shutting
down all flights into the area, so be careful.
Lian: (coughing) Well considering what those guys
could've been breathing, a little smoke won't hurt
'em. Patch me through to Gabe and wish me luck.
Teresa: You got it.
(Back at the mountains.)
Archer: There he is!
Morgan: Archer, have you taken care of Logan?
Archer: Not yet, we're working on it. He's proving to
be troublesome.
Morgan: I want him finished, even if you have to blow
up the whole state to do it!
Archer: We're on it. Out. Get some men down there. I
want him taken out now!
Colorado, USA: United Pacific Train 101
09/08 06:00
Operative: Gabe Logan
You’ve escaped another missile attack from Archer by
jumping onto a westbound United Pacific freight train.
It will bring you within five miles of the downed
C-130. You must reach the engine and prepare to stop
the train as it approaches the crash site.
Archer is using his Blackhawk UH-60 to deploy an
Agency RET (Retrieval and Elimination Team). He will
destroy the train rather than let you get off the
mountain alive. Eliminate any operatives that get in
your way.
Lian: Gabe, are you there?
Gabe: Lian, you okay? It's about time you checked in.
Lian: (coughing) I've been better. My adrenaline shot
is wearing off, but I've got enough strength to come
and get you.
Gabe: All right, I'm almost to the crash site now.
Once we have those data disks, we can bargain with the
Agency for your vaccine.
Lian: (coughing) I'm on the way.
This level follows one simple rule: if you drop to a
car without a roof, and there are commandos there,
kill them all before climbing out. When on top, just
run forward and shoot. Also, watch out for commandos
wearing flak jackets and don't use your grenades
(you'll find out why at the end of the level). Turn
around and start running up the train. As you do,
Archer's chopper will fly overhead and drop commandos
in front of you. After getting by them, continue on to
the first red car. (Checkpoint) Halfway to the second
red car, you'll pass through a tunnel going into night
vision. Just continue onward while shooting.
(A commando throws a grenade at Gabe, who is standing
on an oil tanker.)
Gabe: NO! IDIOT!
(Gabe jumps forward as the grenade goes off, splitting
the train in two.)
(At a bridge for the train ten miles ahead.)
Archer: Blow it.
Pilot: But we still have agents on the train!
Archer: They're expendable! I don't want Logan to get
off this mountain, and we've got to get to that crash
site now! BLOW IT!
(A missile is fired, and the bridge is destroyed.)
Colorado, USA: United Pacific Train 101
09/08 06:15
Operative: Gabe Logan
An oil tanker has been destroyed by an Agency
commando’s grenade, splitting the train in two. You
managed to jump clear of the explosion, but now you’re
facing worse news.
Archer has blown out a rail bridge ten miles ahead of
the train’s current position. You haven’t got much
time. You’ve got to reach the engine and stop the
train before it reaches the gorge.
You have eight minutes to get to the front of the
train. If you follow the same rules as the last level,
you will reach there in less than half the time. Some
roofless cars will have boxes that you can jump from.
When you get to the two red cars back to back, you've
reached the only checkpoint in the level. Keep going
until you reach the engine and you've entered another
tunnel.
Gabe: Lian, I've made it to the engine but this train
isn't gonna stop in time! Time for that backup plan!
Lian: Right, I'm in position now. Are you ready?
Gabe: As ready as I'll ever be!
(Lian has the chopper positioned sideways over the
gorge while Gabe is standing at the front edge of the
engine. As the train begins to fall, Gabe leaps from
the engine to the open door of the chopper. After he
is safely inside, they fly off, watching the rest of
the train fall into the gorge.)
(Just over the crash site.)
Lian: The transport crashed into this box canyon, but
I'm not gonna be able to get this bird in there.
Teresa (on radio): Gabe, Lian, I've intercepted a
radio message from Archer. Let me patch it in.
Archer: What's the E.T.A. on the drop? I need those
men now!
Morgan: There won't be a drop. Choppers can't get in
until the fires died down. I've sent in our best squad
via the highway to the south. They should be there by
now. There's been a security breach at the base. Xing
has escaped. Be in mind that she may also be en route
to your locale. Go to coded channel 6-4-1.
Archer: Copy.
Lian: Archer's bringing in his elite hit squad.
Gabe: Climb to 4,000 feet. They're gonna be expecting
me to come in from the north, where the tracks cut
into the canyon, but I've got a better idea.
Lian: You're gonna jump?
Gabe: I'm getting good at it. I'll parachute through
the smoke right on top of them. It's the one thing
they won't expect.
Teresa: Lian, DOPL shows a clearing in the smoke, one
click south.
Lian: (coughing) Okay, as soon as you're clear, I'll
head there and wait.
Gabe: Good. I'll be there as soon as I get the disks.
Teresa: Gabe, those are "Lightning", Archer's best men
down there. Try to keep your head down, okay?
Gabe: Right.

Operative: Gabe Logan
The Agency has reached the crash site before you, and
Archer has his men searching for the data disks.
You’ve got to get to the disks before they do.
Fortunately, they won’t be expecting you to ‘chute in,
so you can get the drop on them.
Before the crash, the crate holding the disks was
stashed in the tail section of the plane. It’s likely
still there. Retrieve it ASAP and rendezvous with Lian
at the clearing one click south.
Lightning Commando: Hey, look up there!
Arkin: It's Logan! We need some backup! This is Arkin,
we need some assistance now! Logan's here!
When you land, take out the commandos to the left and
right. If you need it, there is a box with a flak
jacket inside. Run to the cockpit and there will be
five more commandos, one to the right, two to the left
and two behind the cockpit. The one to the rear on the
left is a grenade thrower. Continue forward until you
reach the clearing to the west. Run through the funnel
wreckage and you'll draw out four commandos. The one
standing on top of the rear wreckage is a sniper, and
the one to the rear left is a grenade thrower. Using
the funnel wreckage for cover, shoot the two regular
commandos first, then go for the sniper. Run past the
wreckage and get the grenade thrower. Go past the
second funnel wreckage and to the right you will see
the plane's tail. Right in front of it is the crate
where the data disks are supposed to be. (Checkpoint
#1)
Archer: Logan! Looking for these?
Gabe: Dammit!
Archer: Take him out now!
Run behind the tail and shoot the four snipers before
the shoot you. Some shots may require you to come out
of hiding to get them in the crosshairs. (Checkpoint
#2) After they are done, run back the way you came.
Archer: Red team, he's south of your position! Move in
now!
When you reach the second funnel wreckage, three more
snipers will come in front of you. Hit them all with
head shots, they're all wearing flak jackets.
(Checkpoint #3) Go to the first funnel wreckage.
Archer: Get some snipers on that south ridge!
If you go to the left of the wreckage, they will be
grenade throwers. If you go to the right, they will be
snipers. The snipers are easier to deal with. Take
cover to the wreckage to your left. You'll know it
because it has a bloodstain on it. Turn around and
take out the three snipers on the hill on the
southeast. (Checkpoint #4)
Directly behind you, under the wing, there is a box
with another sniper rifle in it. Use it to stack up
your ammo and go south past the cockpit. You'll see a
chopper leave with Archer hanging on one of the skids.
Use your sniper rifle to shoot at him before he gets
away. You can either shoot at his hands to get him to
let go, or if you're skilled and lucky enough, you can
shoot him in the head.
Gabe: So long, Archer.
Lian: Need a lift?
Gabe: Got the disks. Let's go get Chance and the rest
of the survivors.
Lian: Teresa lost radio contact with them an hour ago.
I don't think anyone else made it, Gabe. (coughing)
Gabe: Let's get outta here before we lose you too.
Agency Bio-Research Facility:
New York City
Aramov: How long until we have Lian Xing?
Stevens: It will take some time, but we'll get the
information we need.
Aramov: I have to leave for China today. He wanted me
to remind you that Shi-Hao is not a patient man.
Stevens: Still cleaning up your Gregorov mess. If the
Agency had handled it, of course, it would already be
done.
Aramov: Oh yes, of course. Just as your agents handled
Lian Xing. After all, who could have foreseen that a
sick woman would outsmart and outfight an entire
military base full of trained secret agents? I would
have killed the lot of you and replaced you all with
commoners.
Stevens: YET here I am. The problem, Mara, is that you
are mistaking me for some stupid Euro-trash terrorist
who actually cares what you think. Are we done yet?
Aramov: No, at least not for now.
Commando: Archer's dead.
Stevens: Logan?
Commando: Gone.
Stevens: Get a team together and get to the PharCom
Exposition Center. N.S.A. has already got a cleanup
crew in there and I wanna make sure Phagan didn't have
any other backup disks laying around.
Commando: On the way.
Dr. Weissinger: You don't have her?
Stevens: No.
Dr. Weissinger: We won't have much time to finish
processing the plasma we need as it is. We have to…
Stevens: You will get your plasma, Doctor. Now get
back to work.
Channel 2 News Reporter: The F.B.I. is looking for
these fugitives in connection with a rash of terrorist
crimes that have struck the U.S. in recent weeks. Our
inside sources tell us that these fugitives are the
focus of the FBI's investigation into the subway and
park bombings in Washington D.C. as well as the
downing of a CBDC transport plane over Colorado last
night.
White Mountain Apache Reservation:
Arizona
Lian: So much for going to the authorities.
Gabe: The Agency has moles in every major enforcement
agency. We knew we were on our own anyway.
Teresa: I think you should sue 'em. Those were awful
pictures of you.
Gabe: Any luck yet?
Teresa: No. These are third generation encryption
codes. Lian?
Lian: It'd take me at least a week to hack these
codes. I'm gonna need the keys or there's no way to
break into there data before… (coughing)
Gabe: You feeling any better?
Lian: I feel fine.
Teresa: The serum I've given you will only slow the
virus' effects. It won't stop it.
Gabe: How long do we have?
Teresa: Don't know. Never seen anything like this
before. I'm no doctor, but the blood work up I've just
done doesn't make any sense.
Lian: All right look, there's only one place to go
from here, the PharCom Exposition Center. Holman said
that the Agency was getting ready to do a sweep of the
PharCom files there.
Gabe: It makes sense. If Phagan was smart enough to
make a complete set of backup data on the Syphon
Filter project, he wouldn't have been stupid enough to
store the encryption codes in the same place. The
codes must be there somewhere. Do you still have a
safe house in Virginia?
Teresa: Lawrence Mujari. Runs a lab out of a mortuary.
Lian: Hey! I'm not dead yet.
Teresa: No, the place is a front. He runs the med-lab
there. Freelancer. Mows the lawns to keep in shape.
Gabe: You trust him?
Teresa: With my life. He spent ten years as a refugee
from apartheid rule in South Africa. I helped him get
into the States, and he's responsible for that serum
you're taking now. He'll help us.
Gabe: Then let's go. We're running out of time.
Lian: Look on the bright side; you won't have to wear
a tux this time.
