[ Part 1 ]------------------------------------------------[ Introduction ]---

Hello everyone! Welcome to my Ken FAQ for Street Fighter EX 2 Plus.
This is my second FAQ, and I hope it will be better than the first.
I'm a big a shoto user, and Ken has been a childhood favourite - so
I'm writing on him. Have Fun y'all!

[ Part 2 ]----------------------------------------------------[ Bio Sheet]---

   First Name     : Ken
   Last Name      : Masters
   Blood Type     : ???
   Eye Colour     : Black
   Hair Colour    : Blonde
   Other Features : Black eyebrows
Fighting Style : Ansatsuken (Sometimes mistranslated as Shotokan)
   Clothes        : Red Gi

Ken Masters is the good friend and rival of Ryu. Ken is married and
has a son - his wife is blonde too, going by the name of Eliza. His
son is Mel. (Who would probably be blonde with black eyebrows too).
Many expect Mel to be in the next game of the Street Fighter Series
but I'm not sure (I'd prefer Kairi anyday).

Ken is rather good in this game - His moves all do great damage and
stuff. I still prefer Kairi. Ken is slightly faster than Ryu and he
was given less power to compensate. Ken is still a top tier in this
   game.

[ Part 3 ]-----------------------------------------------------[ Colours ]---

Like everyone else in SFEX2+, Ken has three sets of colours. IMHO I
feel they all stink to a certain extent. I've always loved the navy
blue gi (which is missing in SFEX2+)

   LP / LK
   Red gi (Normal)

   MP / MK
   White gi.

   HP / HK
   Green gi.

[ Part 4 ]-------------------------------------------[ Control Notations ]---

ub   u    uf     Jump Up-Back       Jump Up        Jump Up-Forward
 \   |   /
b -- N -- f      Move Back/Block    Neutral        Move Forward/Advance
 /   |   \
db   d    df     Block Low/Crouch   Crouch         Offensive Crouch

Hard Kick  - (HK)  Medium Kick  - (MK)  Light Kick  - (LK)  Any Kick  - (K)
Hard Punch - (HP)  Medium Punch - (MP)  Light Punch - (LP)  Any Punch - (P)

PPP -  All three punch buttons
KKK -   All three kick buttons

All moves are done facing right (P1 position).

qcf (Quarter Circle Forward)      -  d,df,f
qcb (Quarter Circle Backward)     -  d,db,b
hcf (Half Circle Forward)         -  b,db,d,df,f
hcb (Half Circle Backward)        -  f,df,d,db,b
dp  (Dragon Punch Motion)         -  f,d,df
rdp (Reverse Dragon Punch Motion) -  b,d,db

[ Part 5 ]----------------------------------------------------[ The Game ]---

   GUARD BREAK    - [LK + LP / MK + MP / HK + HP]
Uses up one super meter. When done on an opponent,
he/she will fall into a swoon state for about four
seconds. If the guard break is used on an airborne
opponent, he will be launched into the air. (There
are many ways you can use this to your advantage.)

   EXCEL MODE     - [HP + MK / MP +LK]
Uses up one super meter. It allows to user to make
combos with remarkable ease. [LP+HP+LP+HP+LP etc.]
However, the damage is toned down. Most people use
this mode simply to get high scores via big combos
and chains. Can be done while airborne. FREE EXCEL
can be gained by completing the first bonus stage.

BONUS STAGES   -  There are two bonus stages. The first stage is the
EXCEL. You will be up against a hologram which can
only be hurt by EXCEL attacks. Its best to use the
EXCEL normally with punches and kicks, then finish
with a throw. You're sure to win. Darun Mister and
Zangief will be good at this. You can then use the
EXCEL mode for free, throughout the first round of
the next battle. For the 2nd bonus round, you have
to destroy a satellite. The two panels don't count
so make sure you do not waste valuable time. Also,
to make things harder, meteors will be dropping. A
way to defeat it quickly is jump + HK at the body.

Some characters can wait for it to come down, then
simply either HK or crouch + HP. (Ryu, Kairi, etc)
If you destroy the satellite, you will be given 20
seconds of unlimited supers. When it finishes, you
still keep the three bars. Neat !

TECH HITS      -  When you try to throw your opponent, he/she can do
a tech hit, in which he cancels himself out of the
throw, and both super meters of the fighters get a
                     bonus.

FIRST HIT      -  The fighter who scores the first hit of the round,
and is not blocked, gets an increase in his meter.
There are times where both fighters hit each other
at the same time. When that happens, both fighters
                     get the bonus.

CREDITS        -  When you end the game, the credits will scroll up.
The special thing is, you will be controlling your
character. You will have unlimited super bars, and
you can bash the holographic image to practise the
combos you just can't seem to do. It's also fun to
do your MAX attack continously. (I like to do this
with Ken.) I wish other games, such as Garou MOTW,
SF3 : Third Strike and the like would have similar
endings. I actually play the game for the credits.
                     Yes I know. I'm a big Dümbħ$.

[ Part 6 ]---------------------------------------------------[ The Moves ]---

There was a time where Ryu and Ken were equal. In SF2, Ken was ever
so slightly speeded up and his Shoryukens were enhanced. Ryu got an
unusual (but good) flaming Hadouken. Their supers were different as
well. (I still feel there is too much of a similarity between them)
I suggest Ryu be given the boot, and Kairi to replace him.

-----[ Throws ]--------------------------------------------------------------

    Seoi Nage                                               b / f  + P

Ken grabs the opponent and flings him over his shoulder. It does a
    pretty decent amount of damage.

    Usefulness : [***--]

    Ji Goku Guruma - Rolling Throw (Air)                    b / f  + K

Ken's trademark throw. He rolls on the ground holding the opponent
before tossing him with his arms while lying on the ground. I tend
to use this throw. It can be done in the air.

    Usefulness : [****-]

-----[ Special Moves ]-------------------------------------------------------

Hadou Ken  - Fist Energy Wave                    QCF [d,df,f] + P

The classic fireball, used by Ryu and Ken. Slightly less powerful
then Ryu's. Easy to avoid, I suggest you use this only in combos,
or to build up your meter.

    Usefulness : [**---]

    Shoryu Ken - Dragon Punch                         DP [f,d,df] + P

Ken's speciality, the Shoryuken. This is a great anti air and can
be used in combos and jump-ins. Try not to use the HP version too
much, unless you want to get hit on your way down. This should be
your top priority when your opponent has some super meters.

    Usefulness : [***--]

Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku - Hurricane Kick [Air]  QCB [d, db, b] + K

A classic. Ken spins forward, sticking his foot out. Hits four or
five times when connected. Can be done in the air and can also be
followed by a super. When doing the air version, pressing UF / UB
will cause Ken to move forward and backwards respectively.

    Usefulness : [***--]

    Zenpou Tenshin                                 QCB [d, db, b] + P

Very useful, Ken rolls forward, avoiding anything and everything.
The strength of the punch chooses how far Ken rolls. Very good at
countering anti-airs and auto-combo SCs. (You can't avoid sweeps)

    Usefulness : [****-]

-----[ Super Moves ]--------------------------------------------------------

Shoryuu Reppa - Rising Dragon               (in air) QCF [x2] + P

Ken does two Shoryukens one after the other. Powerful. Nice. Fast
and easy. The only problem with this super is the recovery - miss
and you're fish food against human opponents.

    Usefulness : [***--]

Shin Ryuu Ken - Divine Dragon               (in air) QCF [x2] + K

Ken does a powerful, continuous Shoryuken. Damaging, about 8 hits
and has the same weakness as the Shoryuu Reppa - Recovery. Use in
    combos and jump ins.

    Usefulness : [****-]

    Shippu Jinrai Kyaku                                  QCB [x2] + P

My favourite of all of Ken's supers (apart from the Super Meteo).
Ken does several kicking movements, finishing with a launcher. He
then continues with a fast hitting Tatsumaki Senpuu Kyaku. If you
continue the motion once or twice, Ken launches the opponent, but
he doesn't follow up, allowing you to do whatever you want. (Shin
Ryuu Ken seems nice and cruel to use at this point).

    Usefulness : [****-]

-----[Super Meteo]----------------------------------------------------------

Kuzuryuu Reppa - Nine Headed Rising Dragon         QCB [x2] + KKK

Cool. Ken does several hitting movements, spinning around wildly,
punching and kicking. He follows with a 3-shoryuken Shoryuu Reppa
and ends with a gravity-defying Shin Ryuu Ken that would probably
send a normal human into orbit. I think the last Shin Ryuu Ken is
unblockable. I may be wrong. Tapping P/K near the end of the move
    increases hits and damage.

[ Part 8 ]--------------------------------------------------[ The Combos ]---

    Note : j. represents Jumping
           c. represents Crouching
           s. represents standing
           XX represents buffer/cancel

When ( ) is used before a special, it means you have to do the
special using the button shown between the ( ).

The combos are listed according to how much damage they do.

The combo's are coming soon in the next version of the FAQ.

[ Part 9 ]----------------------------------------------[ Version History ]---
