1. Revisions/Updates

Version 0.50- 11/6/02
    - I've been making its draft since last month, and I've
listed a lot of monsters and their stats already. This list
is still incomplete, even the skills are incomplete. I've
only recorded according to their level in my file. All my
monsters are level 30 as of now. The Introduction, FAQs, and
Definition Of Terms are done. I will update this as soon as
possible. In my file, Cornet is level 99 while others are 30.
I got the 5 stones already, but still stuck in Tower of Nine
tail, desperately getting a Werewolf and a Metal Jelly. >:(

3. Introduction

Greetings! This is my second FAQ and like what I always
do, I will give my best shot to make this the best it can be.
I made this FAQ to classify and evaluate every monster in the
game. This should be a great help to everyone who wants to
know which monsters are the best to keep, and can be good
alternatives to puppets(because some monsters are crap).
However, there are some monsters that cannot be caught, and
I'll discuss them just a while later. I've provided a
bestiary, just look for it at section 4, and FYI I won't
include bosses in the list, as I can't even see their HPs and
MPs. I arranged them alphabetically, but if you're looking
for a particular monster, press Ctrl + F and type the name of
that monster. Unlike my first FAQ, this one is spoiler-free,
well, unless mentioning certain locations is a spoiler to
you. If you have any questions, contributions, suggestions,
corrections or comments, please feel free to email me in the
address that I've mentioned above. Thank you.

4. F A Q s

-> How do you catch a monster?
The procedure is very easy. Just let Cornet attack the
monster you want to catch. However, the possibility that a
monster will join is not 100%. Some are fairly easy to get,
some are insanely hard to catch. This actually requires
patience because the best monsters are usually the rare ones
and the hardest ones to catch.

-> Can you use Cornet's Reward skills in catching a monster?
Nope. Nothing else can tame a monster but Cornet's
physical attack.

-> Are there monsters in the game that you won't be able to
catch?
Well, there are a few of them, very few. Monsters in
boss battles and bosses themselves definitely cannot be
caught, unless you'll see them again in ordinary enemy
battles. Well, there is a kind of monster that you cannot
catch in any way anyhow as well as its other relatives, the
Toad. We've raised a few theories about this. Some people say
that monsters that are part of events in the game cannot be
caught, just like the Toad. However, Bobo is one of those
monsters, and yet able to recruit(Thanks to Setsetuya).
Another theory(which is more acceptable to me) is that Cornet
hates toad so much, and because her horn grants her wishes,
it also rejects toads and its species(Thanks to Burning mon).
But what about Caroline and Michael? Hmmm, I wonder...

-> Is there any way to make recruiting monsters easier?
As I've said earlier, this requires patience. I'm afraid
there is no easy way to catch a monster. Some people say that
inflicting status maladies will make your work easier, but it
just doesn't work in my case. Well, it's worth the try.

-> What are the disadvantages of monsters?
Some monsters can match puppets' qualities and stats or
even overall characteristics. They can replace puppets in
battle and fight as well or even better than them. However,
these disadvantages can be observed:
1.      A monster cannot be revived once it is KO'ed. It just
automatically disappears in your party so you better be
careful in growing monsters. If the monster wears
accessories when KO'ed, you'll lose those accessories
permanently.
2.      Cornet cannot raise a monster's offense(just like what she
does in her puppets) using her Horn command. If you don't
include any puppet in your party, you won't be able to use
Cornet's Horn.

-> Can you catch the same kind of monsters as many as you
want?
Yes. You can catch as many as you can and sell them if
you want inotium. You can observe distinction on same
monsters through the last figure on their names. For example,
I caught 3 Ghosts, one is named Ghost, another is named
Ghost50, and the last is named GhostD.

-> Do same monsters have same stats as they level up?
Same monsters have same stats at level 1 but they have
different stats progress although they differ very slightly.
That's why I can only detail a monster's stats at level 1.

-> What qualities should I consider in choosing a good
monster?
In my case, these are my considerations:
1. HP and Defense - These 2 must be your first consideration
since you cannot revive a KO'ed monster. If the monster has
good Hp and defense, you can improve his offense(if he has
low attack rating) and position as an attacker or frontliner.
The highest elementary HP is 32 while in defense(that's as
far as I know).
2. Magic and Intelligence - If the monster has a complete set
of magic for his particular element, I will automatically
rank it as 1.0 (check Section 5 for this ranking system)
while on other monsters, I have to evaluate other attributes.
I also need to figure out what these magics can do in battle.
I categorized magics into three:
a. Magic attack - all magics that causes damage to a single
or all enemies. e.g. GigaEarth, MegaWater, Blast, Blaze, etc.
b. Support magic - includes cure-typed spells and magics that
raise status in battle temporarily. e.g. HealWind, EarthHeal,
BraveHeat, GeoWise, etc.
c. Malady-inflicting magic - all magics that cause
abnormalities. e.g. Poisonspore, ParaHowl, Foulbeath, etc.
Practically, I pay attention to magic attacks and
support magics first. If the monster only has malady-
inflicting spells, I have to examine their accuracies first.
If the monster has no magic at all, I usually consider them
as useless(there are a few exceptions however).
However, having an arsenal set of magics but low
intelligence is useless. An example is the Ghost. His likes
are very few though. If you have inotium to spare, you can
buy Genius Caps in Mothergreen to improve a monsters magic
prowess. Having at least one magic attack is important for me
- a powerful magic like Dinosaur's Breath or one that can hit
multiple targets like Togetoge's Explosion.
3. Offense and Attack Range - I give considerations to a
monster with or without magic but with an exceptionally good
attack rating. One good example is the Silph. Aside from its
reliable healing spells, its long-range attack can be used
for a good strategy. Another is the Salamand. Although its HP
and Defense are a bit low, its physical attack rocks!
As far as I can see, long-range attackers are usually
the ones with low attack rating. If you want your Golem and
Silph to be more useful in battle, equip Dragon Claws.

-> How many monsters can you keep?
You can keep 16 monsters and puppets in your party, 16
in Master Monster, and 3 in your battle party, so 35 all in
all. There are 15 puppets in the game so that means you can
keep up to 20 monsters! So be sure to catch the best ones!

5. Legends and Definition of Terms

I'll give Firebird as an example:
NAME : Firebird         ELEMENT : Fire
LOCATIONS : Salsa Volcano
EXPERIENCE : 60
INOTIUM : 170
ITEM : Energy Candy
ATTACK : Close Range                     \
HP : 32                 MP : 8            \ <- status at
OFFENSE : 8             DEFENSE : 9       /     level 1
AGILITY : 5             INTELLIGENCE : 4 /
MOVEMENT : 4
RATING : 2.0  <- my own rating system
SKILLS :
Firebreeze (Lv.19) - Fire damage - Single Target
    TARGET RANGE : 5               MP USE : 15
COMMENTS : <- my own opinion about the monster

Definition : (Thanks for Setsetuya's help for this)
NAME - name of the monster.
ELEMENT - the innate element of the monster.
-> Usually, the magics that a monster possesses
          depend on its element.
-> There are seven types of elements a monster can
own, namely : Fire, Water(related to Ice), Earth,
          Wind, Thunder, Holy, and Dark.
LOCATIONS - places where the monster can be seen. I'll always
try to be specific when I mention locations.
EXPERIENCE - points that you need in order to gain a level or
level up. You get these when you fight the
            monster/s and win the battle.
INOTIUM - currency used in the game. It is also obtained by
         winning battles.
ITEM - item dropped by the monster sometimes after battle.
ATTACK - range of a monster's physical attack, either
        close or long range.
-> A long range attacker can attack an enemy 3 spaces
         away.
HP - stands for Health Points. It tells how much damage a
    monster can tolerate before KO.
MP - stands for Magic Points. Used in spell casting.
OFFENSE - a monsters physical prowess. It calculates how much
damage a monster can inflict on the enemy.
DEFENSE - determines the monster's resistance to physical
damage. The higher it is the lesser the damage the
         monster gets from enemies.
AGILITY - speed in taking turns in battle. If a particular
monster has the highest agility in the party, he
will always take the first turn when a battle
         starts.
INTELLIGENCE - this determine how strong the monster's magic
attacks are. Doesn't affect support and
              malady-causing magics.
MOVEMENT - determines how many spaces a monster can move in a
turn. The number of spaces a monster can move
depends on its kind: (there are exceptions,
          however...)
          Normal monsters - 3
Floating and flying monsters - 4
          Long range attackers - 2
RATING - my own ranking system with 1.0 as the highest, 3.0
as the average point, and 5.0 as the lowest. Please
feel free to send me comments if you find this
system confusing or if you have a different rating
        for a particular monster. ;)
SKILLS - magics or specials that consume MP. A monster learns
a skill at a particular level, that's why I write it
after the skill's name. I'll also include the
        magic's element(if necessary), target(either single
or multiple), range and MP use.
COMMENTS - my commentary or opinion about the monster.
Please take note :
1. There's no way to guard a magic attack. That's why a level
99 Cornet receives the same damage as that a level 1 monster
receives.
2. Evasion(the possibility of evading a physical attack) is,
according to Setsetuya, mainly based on level. This is still
an opinion, though. I'll try to prove this in time.
3. Skill lv. - according to Burning mon, it is the
probability of giving off critical hits. It increases as the
monster kills more enemies:
Lv.1 - N/A
Lv.2 - 10 enemies
Lv.3 - 50 enemies
Lv.4 - 150 enemies
Lv.5 - ???

Turtlesting (Lv. 8) - Turns an enemy to a turtle
    TARGET RANGE : 2               MP USE : 10
COMMENT : Well, just as lame as Bee, the only differences are
a little bit high HP and its Turtlesting skill. Compare with
Bee.

MOVEMENT : 3
RATING : 3.0
SKILLS :
Foulbreath (Lv.3) - Confuses an enemy
TARGET RANGE : Full            MP USE : 8
COMMENTS : A mediocre monster to me. Aside from its average
stats, its full-ranged Foulbreath skill is the most accurate
malady-causing spells that I've seen. But there are other
monsters which have more malady-causing spells than him so
you'll forget him eventually. Besides, I don't like Confuse
status inflicting an enemy at all. I would rather prefer
Poishroom's Lovespore that causes philanthropy. On the other
hand, Fox can rather be a good attacker, but I can't
recommend him to be a frontliner because of his low HP.

NAME : In. Lizard       ELEMENT : Earth
LOCATIONS : Wonder Woods - Forest(before Miss Marl's Contest)
EXPERIENCE : 14
INOTIUM : 256
ITEM : Healing Candy

RATING : 4.5
SKILLS :
Inotium Bomb (Lv.3) - Throw a tail bomb - Single Target
    TARGET RANGE : 3               MP USE : 10
COMMENTS : He's too lame because of its low intelligence and
offense and having a high defense is not worth it because of
its low HP. I gave him a rating of 4.5 for having a defense
like no other. Compare with Ankiro, Armadillo, Salamand.

NAME : Jelly             ELEMENT : Earth
LOCATIONS : Wonder Woods - Forest, Natalie River, Cave
(before Miss Marl's Contest)

AGILITY : 5              INTELLIGENCE :4
MOVEMENT : 3
RATING : 3.5
SKILLS :
Explosion (Lv.4) - Self-destruct - All enemies
TARGET RANGE : Full            MP USE : 10
COMMENTS : Well, he's far better than that sucky Jellyfish
and he can at least fight. If you're gonna use him in battle,
he's better to stay away from enemies and let him use
Explosion. But if I were you, I would prefer Togetoge in that
position.

NAME : Jellyfish         ELEMENT : Water
LOCATIONS : Wonder Woods - Natalie River(before Miss Marl's
Contest)
EXPERIENCE : 12
INOTIUM : 14
ITEMS : Paraball
ATTACK : Close Range
HP : 15                  MP : 5
OFFENSE : 6              DEFENSE : 8

MOVEMENT : 3
RATING : 5.0
SKILLS :
ParaAttack (Lv.3) - Paralyzes an enemy
    TARGET RANGE : 2               MP USE : 7
COMMENTS : This one has the same stats as the Jelly but has a
lame special skill. I haven't seen his ParaAttack hit an
enemy when it was still fighting by my side. Its rareness is
worth selling to the Monster Collector. I can't recommend you
to catch this one, unless you want it for inotium purposes.
Compare with Jelly, Jellybomb, Mag. Jelly.

NAME : MiniDark         ELEMENT : Dark
LOCATIONS : Secret Entrance (in Kururu's dream)
EXPERIENCE : 124
INOTIUM : 152
ITEM : Reality
ATTACK : Close Range
HP : 19                 MP : 16
OFFENSE : 8             DEFENSE : 9
AGILITY : 5             INTELLIGENCE : 4
MOVEMENT : 3
RATING : 3.5
SKILLS :
Starpress (Lv.2) - Confuses an enemy.
    TARGET RANGE : 2               MP USE : 10
COMMENTS : Pretty much like MiniEarth, even worse. I find
MiniEarth much better than him but, ugh, they're still not my
types. However, they can be reliable at higher levels, that
is, if you'll ever want to recruit them. There are many other
better monsters to recruit out there and you'll probably
forget these two. MiniDark's Starpress rather confuses
me(obviously). It seems to hit its target but it doesn't
become confused(I mean with something encircling his head). I
still have to test his skill a few more times to confirm. If
anyone knows something about this please be kind to share it
with me. :) Compare with MiniEarth, MiniFire, MiniIce,
MiniThunder.

NAME : MiniEarth        ELEMENT : Earth
LOCATIONS : Ancient Forest
EXPERIENCE : 40
INOTIUM : 50
ITEM : Reality
ATTACK : Close Range
HP : 24                 MP : 16
OFFENSE : 8             DEFENSE : 9
AGILITY : 5             INTELLIGENCE : 4
MOVEMENT : 3
RATING : 3.5
SKILLS :
Turtlepress (Lv.8) - Turns enemies into turtles.
    TARGET RANGE : 2               MP USE : 16
COMMENTS : What can I say? He's just a little better than
MiniDark with his higher HP and the proceeding 3 monster
relatives with his Turtlepress. He can be a better fighter
with his decent stats but it's yours to decide if you really
wanna keep him. Compare with MiniDark, MiniFire, MiniIce,
MiniThunder.

NAME : MiniFire         ELEMENT : Fire
LOCATIONS : Wonder Woods - Cave, Secret Entrance(Before Miss
Marl's Contest), Wonder Woods - Forest
EXPERIENCE : 24
INOTIUM : 30
ITEMS : Healing Candy, Sanity Gummi
ATTACK : Close Range
HP : 19                 MP : 5
OFFENSE : 8             DEFENSE : 9
AGILITY : 5             INTELLIGENCE : 4
MOVEMENT : 3
RATING : 4.0
SKILLS : None
COMMENTS : These three MiniFire, MiniIce, and MiniThunder
were only dissimilar in terms of element innate. Just pass on
them please. I hate to admit it but I really don't like
monsters that have worthless MP and intelligence even if they

COMMENTS : This one's different from his relatives. He was
given a high offense and a little bit low defense. Anyway, he
can dish out harsher damage with his attacks than his
relatives and his Blaze can do a considerable amount of
damage to multiple targets. Just be careful in using him in
battle with his low HP and defense. I believe he deserves
better HP and defense. Compare with Ankiro, Armadillo.
