My name is FishingManiac. I ever have this nice game,but since my PSOne
died, i forced to playing in emulator.
This game is really realistic graphic and sound for it class. Altough this
time newer Reel Fishing series like Reel Fishing III, Reel Fishing :
Challenge, Reel Fishing Pocket , and even Reel Fishing Paradise 3D already
released,but this game is as still as good as it first released.
I make this FAQ because nobody want to create FAQ for this game. And i
know, some people still playing in emulator (in PC or in newer PS console)
or even still play PSOne Console self.
About this faq, sorry for my English. It sometimes looks horrible
Also, I want to make Fish List Faq for this game and other type of faqs
for retro fishing games.

4.AT THE LODGE
%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%%

The Lodge is place where you live and you put all fishing tackle in
this place. You also have a big three aquariums with different water for
your fish. The Lodge has three rooms with different use. Those are :
4a. AROUND WORK DESK
This is main room of the Lodge. There you can chose to fishing today
or not. Also, you put all your lures and flies in here.
These are items in this place :
- Calendar : You can view months,weeks,and years in game time. Also, you
can skip this week by this item without fishing if you doesn't want to
fishing this week. Please note the next year is NOT in January BUT in April.
- Fishing Note : This is item to chose place to fishing. This also have
data of each kind of fish. You can saving and loads your game here.
- Fish Magazine : This book contains informations of fishing holes
condition in this month.
- Fly Shelf : The top drawer is place where you put your flies.
- Lure Shelf : The rest drawer under fly shelf containing your lures
collection.
Tips: You can quickly switch to higher or lower drawer by pressing LI/R1
and L2/R2 buttons.
4b. Stock Corner
This is a room which you use it for put all of your fishing tackle (except
flies and lures).
All things in this room are:
- Rod Table : See the large curtain? Behind it is a place where you
put your rod collection.
- Reel Cupboard : This a board where you store your reels.
- Rig Board : Right of the Reel Cupboard is a small board where you store
your rigs.
Tips : You can quickly switch between Reel Cupboard and Rig Board while
see inside by pressing L2/R2 buttons.
4c. Aquarium Room
This largest room has a three different kind of aquariums where you can
put different fish in different aquariums.
Aquariums in this room are:
- Saltwater Aquarium : This most left aquarium has highest salinity,
many corals, and seaweed. This is aquarium where you put fish that
live in sea.
- Freshwater Aquarium : This aquarium that placed in middle has tree
branches, rocks, low salinity, and slow aeration. This aquarium used
to put fish that living in lakes.
- Running Water Aquarium : This aquarium basically same as Freshwater
Aquarium, except with no tree branches and high and strong aeration.
This aquarium used to put fish that living in rivers.

5.FISHING HOLE

These are places where you fishing. Based of the water type, fishing holes
are divided into 4 groups, these are:
a) . Ocean Stages
b) . Lake Stages
c) . River Stages
d) . Special Stages
5a. Ocean Stages
Ocean Stages can easily known by the strong waves, wide place, and
the corals. These are list of ocean stages:
5a1. Variety Ocean Stage
- Goal : Catch at least 12 kind of fish in this stage
- Fish Species : Amberjack, Bar-tailed Flathead, Bastard Halibut,
Black Porgy, Black Scraper, Brown Sole, Bullet Mackerel, Conger Eel,
Crimson Seabream, Darkbanded Rockfish, Filefish, Goby, Greenling,
Horse Mackerel, Mackerel, Marbled Rockfish, Moon Dragonet,
Pilchard, Silver Whiting, Squilla, Vermiculated Puffer, Wrasse Male
and Female.
- Season : All year
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait, Live Bait
5a2. Sea Bass Stage
- Goal : Catch a Sea Bass which exceeding 2 feet
- Fish Species : Conger Eel, Sea Bass
- Season : March - June, September – December
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Saltwater Lure, Normal Bait, Live Bait
5a3. Red Seabream Stage
- Goal : Catch a Red Seabream which exceeding 2.5 feet
- Fish Species : Parrotfish, Red Seabream, Threeline Grunt
- Season : April – June
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait only
5a4. Summer-in Shore Stage
- Goal : Catch a Spotted Parrotfish
- Fish Species : Kingfish, Parrotfish, Spotted Parrotfish, Spotted
Parrotperch, Yellow Jack
- Season : April – September
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait, Live Bait
5a5. Winter-in Shore Stage
- Goal : ????? (I not sure about this, but maybe catch 3 fish of each
species)
- Fish Species : Bluefish, Large-scaled Blackfish, Small-scaled
Blackfish, Whitespotted Parrotfish
- Season : December – March
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait only
5a5. Trolling Stage
- Goal : Catch a Blue Marlin which exceeding 10 feet
- Fish Species : Blue Marlin, Dorado Male and Female, Pacific Sailfish,
Skipjack Tuna
- Season : July and December
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Saltwater Lure only
5a6. GT Stage
- Goal : Catch a Giant Trevally which exceeding 3 feet
- Fish Species : Giant Trevally (GT) only
- Season : August and January
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Saltwater Lure only
5a6. Coelacanth Stage
- Goal : Catch a Coelacanth
- Fish Species : Coelacanth only
- Season : All year
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Live Bait only
5b. Lake Stage
Lake Stage can easily known by the vegetation, rocks, still or slow
moving water, and fairly deep. There are list of the Lake Stages :
5b1. Carp Stage
- Goal : Catch a Deepbodied Crucian Carp which exceeding 1 feet
- Fish Spesies : Carp, Catfish, Dace, Deepbodied Crucian, Eel, Northern
Snakehead, Pale Chub Male and Female, Silver Crucian Carp, Topmouth
Gudgeon
- Season : April – October
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait, Live Bait, Lure
5b2. Largemouth Bass Stage
- Goal : Catch a Largemouth Bass which exceeding 2 feet
- Fish Species : Bluegill, Largemouth Bass
- Season : June – November
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Lure only
5b3. Trout Stage
- Goal : ???? (Again, i not sure)
- Fish Species : Brook Trout, Brown Trout, Huchen, Lake Trout, Rainbow
Trout, Sockeye Salmon, Whitespotted Char
- Season : September – December
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait, Live Bait, Lure, Fly
5b4. Pond Smelt Stage
- Goal : Catch 30-40 Pond Smelts (I forgot how much Smelts that needed)
- Fish Species : Pond Smelt only
- Season : December – February
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait only
5c. River Stage
River Stage basically has same environment like Lake, but with fairly
shallow and fast moving water. There are list of River Stage :
5c1. Char Stage
- Goal : Catch a Char which exceeding 1 feet
- Fish Species : Char, Dolly Varden, Sculpin
- Season : April – September
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait, Lure, Fly
5c2. Amago Trout Stage
- Goal : Catch a Amago Trout which exceeding 1 feet
- Fish Species : Amago Trout only
- Season : April – September
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait, Lure, Fly
5c3. Yamame Trout Stage
- Goal : Catch a Yamame Trout which almost exceeding 1.5 feet
- Fish Species : Yamame Trout only
- Season : April – September
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait, Lure, Fly
5c4. Satsuki Trout Stage
- Goal : Catch a Satsuki Trout which exceeding 1.5 feet
- Fish Species : Satsuki Trout only
- Season : May and June
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Lure, Fly
5c5. Sakura Trout Stage
- Goal : Catch a Sakura Trout which exceeding 2.5 feet
- Fish Species : Sakura Trout only
- Season : March – May
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Lure, Fly
5c6. Ayu/Sweetfish Stage
- Goal : Catch a Ayu which exceeding 1 feet
- Fish Species : Ayu/Sweetfish only
- Season : June – September
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Decoy only
5d. Special Stage
This is a secret stage that only accessible in Free Mode after you
complete the Coelacanth Stage. This place is cartoonic and all fish (and
anything)are like a moving picture. This is only one Special Stage :
5d1. Panda Lake Stage
- Goal : None. Just for fun!
- Fish Species : Cutter Shrimp, Drowned Panda, Eat-a-lot Shark,
Poisonous Starfish, Sava-dava,
- Season : All year
- Possible Fishing Tecnique : Normal Bait only

6.TIPS, TRICKS, AND GLITCH

There are tips and tricks that i know which might can help you play the
game :
1. Hooking Fish
Yeah, this one is hard to perform, because each fish has different
time to hooked perfectly. But, the basic hooking signal is when the
fish struggle its body hardly. However, this still hard to determined
due the best time to hooking AFTER bend is very different for each
kind of fish.
This is list the best time for some fish :
a) Instant Strike
This type hard to hook. The fish will struggling upon biting and i
oftenly miss the time. Many fish that can caught with lure, Pilchard,
Amberjack and others uses this tecnique.
b) Short Delay, Short Strike
Aaarrgh, this type is the HARDEST to hook. Because this is hard to
distinguish between the delay and the struggle. I seldom hook it
perfectly, oftenly miss or hooked weakly. Filefish, Black Scraper,
and Instant Strike fish (if you use bait) uses this tecnique
c) Short Delay, Long Strike
This is fairly easy. The strike is when the fish struggling 3 times.
Darkbanded Rockfish and Marbled Rockfish uses this tecnique.
d) Medium Delay, Medium Strike
This is the most dominant tecnique. Basically you wait for 2 seconds,
then hook it after the fish start struggle. Wrasse, Brown Sole,
Largemouth Bass, and others uses this tecnique
e) Long Delay, Medium Strike
Only Bastard Halibut that uses this tecnique. You wait the Halibut
pick up your live bait for long time, then snag it hardly after its
start struggling.
f) False Pick Up
This is VERY ANNOYING. The fish will attempt to fool you by coming
like about to picking your lure/fly, then go away, then come back
BEFORE its really bite your lure/fly. All of river fish (except
Sculpin, of course) can perform this tecnique.
2. Some fish will attempt to jump out of water. If you see the signal
(the fish facing up and running) immediately stop reeling and
lowering drag. If you too late the line likely will break.
3. When fishing for Coelacanth, set the depth of your live bait as
shallow as possible, because the Coelacanth often dislodging the hook
even you hook it perfectly. Shorten the distance between your bait
and surface water can fasten ending the battle.
4. I oftenly prefer lures over baits, since lure can use much larger
line. However, bait has higher bite rate than lure and easier to hook
fish perfectly (if you skilled enough or using float).
5. In Carp Stage, you can use live bait! Simply use the Stream Pole S
(don’t the L) and you can chose Pale Chub as bait! However, I don’t
recommend you to use that tackle set due the weak line(NOTE: ONLY
CATFISH AND NORTHERN SNAKEHEAD THAT WILL EAT. THEY ARE STRONG FISH)
6. In Pale Chub Stage, when a school of Pond Smelts coming, jerk your
rod upside down until all Chubs waiting in front of your baits. Then,
if all Chub bites in same time, you can snag them together and you
can got three Chubsin same time!
7. If you read about Pond Smelt in the Fishing Notebook, the Book says
it as “Pound Smelt”
8. If you keep Whitespotted Char in aquarium, when you press Select
Button (this make the camera goes to front of the selected fish from
reversed sequence (from first fish goes to last, then fourth, and
so on) the camera will says Whitespotted Char as “Whitespotted Cher”
This also happens when you land the fish.
