3.  Walkthrough
=======================================================================

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3.1  Starting the Game
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Select New Game at the title screen.  When you start the game, the
main character will be seen repairing his motorcycle in a parking
lot.  He will be spoken to by some fellow students and the principal
of the high school.  You will then be able to name him.  His default
name is Tatsuya (Ta-chan).

When you are able to control Tatsuya, enter the school.  Go to the
courtyard area where the statue is and speak to Maya, the woman
standing by the bench, twice.  Now re-enter the school, speak to the
first student you see in the middle of the hall, then proceed up the
stairs to Floor 2.  Walk around until you run into a girl in the hall.
Speak to her, then go up the stairs again to Floor 3.  A student is
here as well in the hall, speak to him. Now, go back down the stairs
to Floor 1 and return to the parking lot where your motorcycle is.
A woman will be waiting there for you and will ask you several
questions.  I'm not sure if your responses here affect anything.
Eventually, she'll leave and Lisa (Ginko) will arrive.  She'll talk
with Tatsuya, hand him an envelope, and then the two will speed off
on the motorcycle for Small Prison.

At Small Prison, you'll run into Mishina (Michelle) and his friends.
After a short conversation, he will summon his Persona and attack you.
After the battle, which you cannot control, there will be a scene with
Tatsuya, Ginko, and Michelle travelling through time and talking with
Philemon.  When the three regain consciousness, they decide to summon
Joker.  He attacks three of Michelle's friends and after talking with
him, decides to attack the party as well.  Once again, you cannot
control the battle and automatically lose to his power.  Afterward, he
throws Tatsuya an Iris and vanishes.  When you regain control, head for
the spiral staircase.  There should be another short conversation.
When it is done, go up the stairs and exit through the door and onto
the town map.

Now, go northeast to the Kameya Mall and enter the Shiraishi
Restaurant, the upperleft option.  Inside, you'll have a conversation
with Tadashi-kun.  When you regain control, exit the restaurant and
go to the Detectives' Office.  It's the place above the Exit option
with the large Lucky The Cat statue.  There will be another scene.
When you regain control, talk to the man in the brown vest.  A list of
options will appear.  Choose the first one and a menu will appear.
Now, choose the only option available to you (a rumor about the woman
in the Shiraishi Ramen shop) and press circle three times.  Now you
will be back at the original option screen.  Select the last option to
quit speaking with the man.  Now leave this place and return to the
Shiraishi Restaurant.  There will be another scene, then one of
Michelle's friends will show up.  After receiving weapons, the four of
you will leave.  Now, back on the town map, take the southwest exit
out of this part of the city.  You'll now be taken to a larger map of
the entire city.  Select the next region available to you and press
circle to enter a new area.  From here, go in Seven Sisters High
School, the building in the center of the map.

At Seven Sisters High School, there is a large crowd of students
talking about an emblem in the school.  Something is obviously wrong.
The school bells ring and a girl screams and faints, while all the
other students run away.  From here, you'll automatically be taken
inside the first dungeon of the game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3.2 - Seven Sisters High School
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Items:  1000 Yen, 3 Healing Items
Boss:  Principal Hanya
Minimum Recommended Level:  6

This is the first area in the game where you will face random
battles.  The first thing you will need to do is go up to the
Principal's Office on the third floor.  Once there, there will be
a scene with Maya and Yukino (yes, the same Yukino from Persona 1)
showing up.  Some zombies will then enter the room and attack.
This is a battle you cannot control and has Maya and Yukino
revealing their Personas.  After the battle, they will join you and
you will now have a party of five.  When you regain control, try to
exit the room.  The two ladies will show off their new weapons.
Now you can exit.

Your objective now is to break all the clocks in the school, because
they have an emblem on them that curses people.  Start by breaking
the ones found in the classrooms.  There are two on the Third Floor,
two on the Second Floor, and three on the First Floor.  To break
them, face the clock on the wall and press Circle.  Tatsuya will
whip out a mop and smash them.

Once you have broken all 7 of the classroom clocks, return to the
Second Floor and enter the Teachers' Lounge.  (Note - If you try
to enter the Teachers' Lounge before breaking all the classroom
clocks, you will find that it is sealed off by two students.  You
need to break the classroom clocks before coming here).  Once there,
Maya and a teacher will have a short conversation.  When you regain
control, break all three clocks in this room.  When this is done,
Principal Hanya will come on over the intercom with a threatening
message.  Now, make sure that you talk to all the teachers in this
room, and then return to the First Floor.

On the First Floor, go to the Nurse's Office.  She will be there
with the school janitor.  You need to get the key to the clock tower
from him, but he seems to have misplaced it.  Look around the room
for the key and talk to everyone.  Eventually, the scene will
continue and the janitor will give you the clock tower key.

Once you have the key, go up to the Fourth Floor.  There is only one
door here.  Use the key to unlock it and enter.  Inside, you will
see the ghost of a teacher who died in the clock tower ten years ago.
He will speak to you a little and fades away.  Joker and Principal
Hanya then appear.  Joker talks for a while, then tosses Tatsuya
another flower and vanishes.  Hanya then jumps down from above and
attacks the party.  Prepare for the first boss battle of the game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss:  Principal Hanya
HP:  662
Exp:  130

For the first boss, Hanya can be quite difficult if you're not at
least Level 6.  It also helps if all your characters' personas
are at least Rank 5 or 6.  Hanya has two main attacks - a large
explosion that damages three of the five party members for about
10 to 20 damage each, and a drill attack that damages one character
for around 30 to 40 damage.  Physical attacks don't do that much
damage to him, so it's best to use your strongest Persona attacks
and combinations.  And have either Ginko or Maya ready to heal
at all times.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

After defeating Hanya, the large clock will fall out of the window and
shatter.  But Hanya gets up and jumps out of the window as well,
falling four stories escaping the party.  Maya picks up the flower
thrown by Joker and gives it to Tatsuya, and then a girl enters the
room.  She asks about what happened to Principal Hanya.  You can either
tell her that he's dead (first option) or that he's alive (second
option).  I'm not sure if this decision affects any later events in the
game, although I told her that he's alive (saying he died causes her to
become upset).  This ends the first dungeon of the game.  When you
regain control, walk down to the first floor and exit out onto the town
map.

Update (2/19/00):
I have learned that when asked if Principal Hanya is dead or alive,
the preferable response is to say that he is alive.  If you tell the
student that he is dead, he will actually die and you will never see
him again.  However, if you say that he's alive, he will return towards
the end of the game and help you in the battle against the Nazis.

From here, exit this region of the city and you will be taken to the
map of the entire city.  There is now a third area open to you.
Select the new area (the last option) and go there.  In this new
region, there is a shopping mall to the northeast.  Walk to it and
enter Peace Diner.  There will be a scene with a blue haired girl
named Chikari coming in and talking to the party, telling them to come
to Club Zodiac.  When you regain control, exit the diner.  Now, make
sure all your weapons and armor are upgraded.  When you're ready for
the next dungeon, enter the center-most building in this section.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3.3  Club Zodiac
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Items:  3 Healing Items, Free Tarot
Boss:  Heddo (Optional)
Minimum Recommended Level:  7

When you enter Club Zodiac, you will find many doors, most of which
are locked.  Go to the back of the room and enter the red door.  This
will take you to a dance floor.  There will be a scene with Yukino
talking with a smoking girl.  She will eventually leave and three
of Michelle's classmates will show up.  They have an argument,
resulting in Michelle attacking one of them and running off on his own.
You will have to go through this dungeon with only four party members.
When you regain control of Tatsuya, go through the door that Michelle
exited through.  Random battles will occur from here on.

The floors of Club Zodiac have many twists and turns in them, but
it's still relatively easy to find where you need to go because the
dungeon is actually pretty short.  There are also places on the floor
where you will sustain damage if you step on them, so be careful.
There is nothing of importance on the First Floor, just find the
staircase and proceed up.  On the Second Floor, there are two treasure
boxes, as well as a Staff Room and Trish's Spring.  Ignore the Staff
Room here and heal up at Trish's Spring if you need to, although it
will cost you 5000 Yen.  Again, look for the staircase and proceed to
the next floor.  On the Third Floor, you'll come to an orange door
that a man in black is standing next to.  He won't let you enter
unless you are wearing a mask.  There is another Staff Room on this
floor as well.  Enter it and look around for an open cardboard
box.  Examine it and Tatsuya will find the mask he needs.  Now, return
to the orange door that the man is guarding and try to enter it.
If you got the mask successfully, he will not stop you this time.

Inside, you'll find Heddo and a group of four students beating up
Michelle.  After the scene, your party will rush in and Tatsuya will
be faced with a choice.  You can either help Michelle out (first
option) or you can sit back and watch (second option).  If you choose
to help him, the party will engage in a boss battle with Heddo.  Be
at around level 7 or 8 if you choose to fight him, because he's tough.
But, if you choose to watch what happens, there will be a scene with
Michelle defeating Heddo on his own.  I'm not sure which decision is
better here, but I chose to watch what happens because Yukino
makes a statement about how it doesn't concern the party.  She
says that the fight is between Michelle and the people of his school,
and that he needs to be the one to take care of it.  Either way,
once Heddo is defeated, he will talk to the party about Joker and
Lady Scorpion, then leave.  After the scene, you'll automatically
be taken outside to the town map and will be in control again.  This
ends the Club Zodiac dungeon.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Optional Boss:  Heddo
HP:  794
Exp:  328

I can't provide much information regarding this fight since I chose
to let Michelle handle the problem on his own.  This is the preferable
course of action.  Read the update below for more information.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Update (1/21/2000):
I have learned that it is preferable to *not* help Michelle in the
battle against Heddo.  During this event, it is recommended that you
choose the second option and allow him to defeat the boss on his own.
The reason for this is that during a certain point later in the game,
each character's Persona has the potential to "evolve" and become
stronger.  In order for this to occur, you must have made certain
correct decisions throughout the course of the game, this event being
one of them.  Choosing to help Michelle is one factor that will affect
an evolution, so it is advised that you choose to let him handle it
on his own.  Although you won't receive the chunk of experience and
money from the battle, it will pay off in the long run.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3.4  Kasuga Mountains High School
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Items:  Dorminer Card, Cotl-Di Card, Aques Card, Posm-Di Card
Boss:  Student Chairman
Minimum Recommended Level:  12

After leaving Club Zodiac, your next destination should be Kasuga
Mountains High School, the school that Michelle is from.  It is located
in the west area of the city, the one that you started in with Small
Prison.  Upgrade your party's equipment if you still need to do so
and enter the school.  It's the building furthest on the right.

Upon entering, the party will have a conversation with Michelle.  Once
you regain control, your first objective is to find the student
chairman.  Random battles will occur from here on.  Go left until you
come to an up and down staircase set.  Go up to the Second Floor and
enter the first door you see, labeled Seitokaichou.  There, talk to the
two students next to Michelle and there will be a short dialogue.  They
will tell you to go to Room 3-1.  Leave and go up the stairs to the
Third Floor and enter the room.  Talk to the students there as well.
They will direct you Room 2-4.  Go back down the stairs and find
Room 2-4, enter it and talk to all the students.  Now, return back
down to the First Floor.  Around the up and down staircase set is a
door which will lead you outside to the gym, where you can get free
healing from a nurse and speak to some people about the upcoming
Masquerade Ball.  This is also an excellent time to build levels
and stock up on Tarot cards for future Persona creation.  When
you are at least Level 10, take the down staircase to Basement 1 and
enter the door there.  The party will have a conversation and then
find themselves in an underground cavern.  After a scene with a
transceiver, talk to all your party members and then exit through the
door and into the dungeon.

This dungeon is large and hard to explain.  It is essentially a big
loop which will continually keep taking you back to the room that you
originally started in.  The enemies are down here are quite
challenging; the zombies have a self-destruct attack that does over
100 damage to a single character.  Your objective down here is to
find an item box which has a monster in it to defeat.  As you proceed,
hug the right wall.  Eventually you will come across a secret passage
that leads to a small room with two item boxes.  One of them has the
monster in it that you're looking for.  Opening it will cause a battle
to commence, but it is fairly easy and you shouldn't have much trouble
if you are at a decent level.  After you defeat it, continue through
the dungeon and you'll eventually find yourself back in that room
which you started in.  Talk to all your party members and exit through
the opposite door back into the dungeon again.  Now, your next task
is to walk around the entire dungeon and pass through that room another
4 to 5 times.  Talking to all your party members on each trip reveals
how extremely tired and frustrated they are at not being able to find
the exit.  After a while, a funny scene will occur in that room.
Once everyone has fallen asleep, you will talk to Maya and after a
flashback, have to answer some questions.  Pick the answers in the
following order - Top, Bottom, Bottom, Top, Bottom.  Doing so will
result in Yukino finding the exit to the dungeon.  Leave this area.

Back inside the school, go up the stairs to the First Floor.  You'll
notice that there are decorations hung throughout the halls.  The
Masquerade Ball has started.  Go forward and try to enter the gym.
You'll be told by a student that you need a mask to get in.  Go and
talk to him again and he will give you one.  Now you can enter the
gym.  Once inside, you will find a man up on stage sucking energy from
the dancing students wearing the masks.  Maya had put on the mask you
just received and was falling under the spell as well, but Tatsuya was
able to rip it off in time.  Your party will run forward to confront
the man on stage, but he'll escape off to the right.  Exit the gym and
go back inside the school.  Climb up the stairs until you reach the
Third Floor.  As you go through the halls, Michelle will comment that
he senses Persona energy.  Continue your ascent to the Fourth Floor
and exit out onto the roof of the school.  Here, you will discover
another transceiver, as well as the student chairman.  Apparently he
was the one stealing energy from the students in the gym.  Michelle
will confront him and he will reveal that he can use his Persona as
well.  You will now engage in a boss battle.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss:  Student Chairman
HP:  740
Exp:  560

You need to be at least Level 12 to survive this battle, preferably
13 to be safe.  The student chairman has many strong Persona attacks.
He can cast Maha-Garu, a wind spell that hits all party members for
around 40 damage, as well as use an attack that is so strong, it can
kill of a character in one hit.  It is strongly advised that you have
Maya constantly cast Media every turn to heal the party.  Michelle's
physical attacks work great here and do around 80 damage per hit, over
200 on a critical.  As for the other characters, just have them use
their strongest Persona attacks.  Using this strategy, he should go
down fairly quickly and without too much trouble.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

After the battle, Lady Scorpion will appear and after lashing at you
with her whip, she kills the defeated student chairman.  Then, yet
another of Joker's henchmen, King Leo, appears and converses with the
party.  Both then disappear as quickly as they came.  A scene will
follow with your party returning to the gym to check on the condition
of the students.  Unfortunately, all the energy has been sucked out of
them and they're all standing there, black and lifeless.  You'll
automatically leave this area and will be taken outside to the city
map.  Save your game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3.5  Mu Continent
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Items:  10000 Yen, Maha-Aques Card, STR Card, Garagara Drink x2,
Trap SP Damage, Trap Monster
Boss:  None
Minimum Recommended Level:  13

When you regain control on the city map, your first task is to talk to
every person in town (not in specific areas, just on the city map
streets themselves).  The people are represented by the same polygon as
your party is, but of a different color, and the word "talk" appears
when you approach them.  There are a total of 12 people to talk to
around the city, most of which will tell you rumors about the MUSES.

When you have talked to all 12 people, return to the west side of the
city to the Detectives' Office.  The man here will speak of the MUSES
as well.  Now you need to confirm all of these rumors that you've
heard.  Start by exiting the Detectives' Office and go to the
restaurant owned by Michelle's father.  It's in the same mall and there
should be a short scene between father and son if you haven't been here
before.  In the restaurant, talk to Toro-san, the fat man sitting at
the bar.  Many options will be made available to you; they are a
variety of rumors to confirm.  Keep selecting the first option and
cycling through the dialogue until you have confirmed every rumor
available.  You'll know when you have done so when the conversation
ends and Tatsuya turns away.

The next person needed to confirm the MUSES rumor is Toku-san, a
homeless man living in the park.  The park is located right next to
Seven Sisters High School, so return to the center of the city and
go there.  As with the restaurant, if you haven't been to the park
before, there will be a scene with some classmates talking about
Ginko's movie debut.  When it's over, talk to Toku-san and go through
the same process of confirming every rumor he has.  When he turns you
away, exit the park and go to the northeastern side of the city.

On the northeast side, go to the mall and enter Peace Diner.  Chikari,
the girl with blue hair, is here and confirms the rumors next.  I'm
sure you know the drill by now; talk to her and keep choosing every
option until she turns you away.  Now leave Peace Diner and exit the
northeast side.  You should be back on the overview map of the entire
city, and a new fourth region should be available to you now.

Go to the new southern region of the city.  There are three more
people on the streets to talk to here, so be sure to do so.  In this
area's mall, there is a fortune telling gypsy.  Enter her store.  She
is sitting at a large table with a crystal ball.  Upon talking to her,
Tatsuya will sit down and be presented with even more options than the
previous people.  Pick the first option and continue to confirm every
rumor she has, but stop when she begins to ask you for money.  Refuse
to give her any money and then leave the store.

Enough people have now confirmed the MUSES rumor, so return to the
Detectives' Office on the west side of the city.  There should be more
people here now, and after a short scene, talk to the man at the desk.
Just like at the beginning of the game, you'll have a choice of rumors
to spread.  Pick the first option upon talking to him and you'll be
brought to the list.  Scroll down to the bottom; the last option is
the one regarding the ramen shop which was used earlier and is not
available.  Select the second to last option about Mu Continent, a
casino on the northeast side of town.  A shorter list of three items
should then appear under the main one, with rumors about the
organization's poker, slots, and blackjack.  Pick the first one and
pay the 3000 Yen fee.  Now leave the Detectives' Office and head back
to the northeast side.

Back on the northeast side, go across the street from Club Zodiac to Mu
Continent.  A large crowd of people has gathered in the casino and a
scene should take place here in which the MUSES are mentioned again
once again.  A movie is being shot up on the fourth floor.  When you
regain control, enter the green door in the back and you'll find
yourself in another dungeon.  This dungeon is pretty straight-forward
and there is a lot of treasure to be found.  However, one item box on
the first floor contains a demon which you will have to fight upon
opening it.  The demon is of the Magician class, making it very strong
with magic, so use your best physical attacks on it.  It also has a
very annoying attack that causes random status ailments on all members
of your party, but you should be able to defeat it with a little
persistence.  It gives you a good item that restores 300 SP as a
reward.  Much of the dungeon involves going up and down staircases
between different areas of the same floors.  You'll need to climb up
to the fourth floor and enter the Video Game Room.  The movie you
heard about is being shot here and the party is filmed as extras.
Afterward, there is a scene with Ginko talking to two girls who soon
leave.  Thankfully, there is no boss in this area.  A conversation
among your party members ensues and you are eventually brought back to
the city map.  Save your game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3.6  Giga Macho
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Items:  Trap HP Damage, Chewing Soul x3, Physical Card, SP Damage,
Magical Card, STR Incense, Trap Monster x2
Boss:  None
Minimum Recommended Level:  19

Your next destination is the CD store Giga Macho.  It is in the same
region of the city as Mu Continent, directly to the right of Club
Zodiac.  Upon entering, you can speak to the clerk at the counter and
purchase CDs from the first set, Primo.  They contain BGMs from the
game and can later be played at Maya's apartment.  I would suggest
purchasing them; they're fairly inexpensive and fighting one battle in
this area yields an amount of yen more than enough to buy the whole
set.

Giga Macho is a pretty linear, straight-forward area.  There are five
floors in the building and your goal is to reach the FM Radio Studio
up on the fifth floor.  Each floor has an easily locatable ascending
staircase or elevator that can be used to access the next floor.  The
enemies get slightly more difficult here, however, particularly the
Minotaurs.  They can cause status ailments such as Berserk, as well
as perform a charging attack that can deplete around half of a
character's HP.  Another big threat are the pink ghosts.  They can
cast Maha-Magna as well as self-destruct to instantly kill off a
character.  A group of three or four of these ghosts can instantly
annihilate your party.  However, these strong enemies make this a good
place to gain levels and collect tarot cards for Persona creation.

On the first floor, head straight forward from the entrance and turn
right, taking the stairs up to the second floor.  Wander around the
second floor and find the two item boxes here, then take the stairs up
to the third floor.  There are three item boxes here on the third floor
as well as an elevator.  When you reach the elevator, first take it
back down to the second floor to grab a previously inaccessible item
box.  Then take it up to the fifth floor for another item box.  Watch
out for the green puddles on the floor around here; they drain your SP
if you touch them.  Now, take the elevator back down to the fourth
floor.  An interesting point to note is that Jack Frost, the mascot of
the Persona series, makes his first appearance in the game as an enemy
on this floor.  ^_^  There is a Trish's Spring here if you're in need
of healing at this point, as well as four item boxes on this floor.
After you find them all, locate the next staircase and proceed upward
to the fifth and final floor.

Up on the fifth floor, you will find the FM Radio Studio you've been
looking for.  Enter it and a scene will take place.  Ginko enters the
booth and participates in a broadcast, then leaves the party.  She
will be absent for the next two areas and you will have to do without
her assistance.  After further conversation between Maya and Tatsuya,
you are taken back outside the building and onto the city map once
again.  Save your game.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
3.7  Aoba Park
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Items:  VIT Card, Garagara Drink x3, Chewing Soul x3, Kabanda x2,
STR Incense, Rumor Demon Linda
Boss:  None
Minimum Recommended Level:  20

Exiting the region of the city you're currently in and looking at the
map of the entire city, you will notice that a new fifth area is now
available to you.  The fifth region is the far eastern side of town and
contains the next area you must explore, Aoba Park.  It will be a
little more of a challenge without Ginko, but if not too difficult if
you took the time to build up levels back in Giga Macho.  Aoba Park
is located on the right side of the region map, but there are some
optional events that you may want to do first.

The first optional event involves the Rumor Demon Linda.  She is the
spirit of an idol that you can fight in Aoba Park.  Defeating her earns
you a Flay Card, so it's not a bad idea to follow the necessary steps
to battle her.  In order to do so though, you need to do a little rumor
spreading.  Go back to the west side of the city to the Kameya Mall.
Enter the Shiraishi Ramen shop, the upperleft option where you visited
earlier in the game.  There should be three people here.  Talk to each
of them and you will obtain the rumor about the idol spirit.  Now go
to the Detectives' Office in the same mall and speak to the director
in the brown suit.  Choose the top option to spread a rumor, and do so
with this one about Linda.  It should be located directly between the
Mu Continent and Ramen shop rumors you previously spread towards the
end of the list.  Pay the 3000 yen to do so and then leave the
building.  You will now be able to fight Linda for the card in Aoba
Park.

The second optional event involves a rumor about talking flowers.  Go
to the far east area of the city and speak to the person standing on
the street in front of Aoba Park.  He will give you a rumor about the
talking flowers.  Now return once again to the Detectives' Office and
speak to the director, choosing to spread a rumor.  The new rumor will
appear towards the bottom of the list between the Idol Spirit and Ramen
Shop rumors.  Pay to have it spread and then leave this place.  Now,
when you go through the Aoba Park area, you will encounter talking
flowers who will give you items if you speak with them.  This is a
useful and recommended step to take.

Now, return to the eastern side of town and enter Aoba Park.  You will
notice that there are brightly colored flowers throughout the area.
However, speaking to them alone will not net you a free item; you have
to answer a question for them.  If you answer correctly, you will get
the item, while an incorrect response will result in negative
consequences (such as your entire party becoming poisoned).  The first
of these flowers you will see close to the park's entrance.  Speak to
it (it is a red flower) and choose the second answer to receive a
healing item (the item's name will appear in green text if you answer
correctly).  Continue making your way through this first screen until
you find an orange flower.  Pick the top answer to its question to
receive an anti-poison item.  Finally, you'll see a yellow flower near
the exit, which will also give you an item if you pick the third
answer.  When you're finished, proceed to the northeast section of
this screen to find the exit to the second half of the park.

In the second half of the park, the first flower you'll see will be a
yellow one.  Pick the top answer when speaking to it for an item.  From
here, if you travel west a little, you will find the item box
containing the Rumor Demon Linda if you chose to spread her rumor.  The
battle isn't too difficult if you're around Level 20, but she has an
annoying attack that charms all members of your party, so be careful
and mainly use physical attacks on her.  Your victory will reward you
with a Flay card.

I'm not sure if Linda only appears in the item box described above or
not.  It could be random.  Strangely enough, I lost the first time I
fought her, and when I went to reload my game and try again, she was
no longer in the item box and I received a normal item instead.
Although I did spread the rumor, Linda did not reappear anywhere else
in the level, so if and when you are able to fight her, make sure that
you try to kill her the first time in order to get the card.

As you continue through this part of the area, you'll come across a
blue flower.  Two of its possible responses include the words HP and
SP.  Picking either of these two options (the first or second) will
result in you getting an item, but the respective value you picked
(either HP or SP) will be drained to 1 for all party members.  I
would recommend picking the HP option here considering that it is
more easily recoverable.

Continue along to the end of the area, which once again is in the
northeast part of the maze.  Around there is a purple flower.  For this
flower, the second response is the correct one to receive an item.
Exiting this area will take you directly to the Concert Hall, so it is
advised that you save your game, visit the nearby Trish's Spring if
you need to, and make sure you're at Level 20 or above before leaving.

3.8  Concert Hall
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Items:  VIT Incense
Boss:  Prince Taurus
Minimum Recommended Level:  21

Upon arriving at the Concert Hall, your party members will have a brief
chat before you regain control.  When you are controlling Tatsuya, walk
up to the man standing in front of the door and choose yes to pay
10,000 Yen for a concert ticket.

Enter the building and walk straight forward, entering the door.  A
scene will take place here and the party will eavesdrop on one of
Ginko's conversations onstage.  Afterword, you'll be taken outside and
brought to the seating area.  Walk over and talk to Michelle here.
When he asks you if you should go and help Ginko out, pick the first
answer, saying that you don't want to help her.  Making this choice
will ensure that she receives a Persona upgrade later in the game.

A concert will now take place in which you get to hear the MUSES sing
a song.  After some more scenes, Prince Taurus will show up and taunt
you with King Leo for a while.  Your new objective is this:  You have
exactly thirty minutes to both defeat Prince Taurus in a boss battle,
and then locate a bomb in the building and escape.  Your time starts
as soon as you engage in the boss battle and will be displayed in the
upper-left corner of the screen.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Boss:  Prince Taurus
HP:  1223
Exp:  4675

Prince Taurus is a rather difficult boss.  He resists both physical
and Persona attacks well, reflecting many types of magic as well.  In
addition, he has incredibly annoying attacks that reduce your party's
hit accuracy, as well as attacks that cause other bad status, such as
confusion, on your characters.  Have Maya constantly healing the party
and have Michelle, Tatsuya, and Yuki constantly attacking if you hope
to survive.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Once the battle is over, Prince Taurus will use his gold skull to
steal the other two MUSES girls' energy, then disappear.  Note that
you will not be able to save your game during this event; if you lose,
you will have to reload at your last save before the concert.  After a
little bit of dialogue, you need to escape the building.  Leave the
stage and you'll be back inside the main hall again.

Turn right and you'll be in a corridor with three rooms.  Check each
room thoroughly, checking all lockers and boxes and such, and talking
with your party members.  The second door should be locked and you will
not have access to the room.  However, in the third room, searching
one of the lockers should reward you with a memo from King Leo.

Now, go back down the hall to the entrance of the building and escape
outside.  If you made it in time (which you should have been able to
do easily), you will witness a full motion video of the bombs inside
the Concert Hall exploding and the building ablaze.  When your party
collects itself, Maya is visibly shaken and upset by the events that
just occured and Tatsuya has to comfort her.

Your choices at this point are vital and affect the outcome of the
game's story.  When you are presented with the first two responses,
pick the top one, to comfort and encourage Maya.  She will respond and
then you'll be presented with another choice.  Pick the bottom of the
two options to respond, "Ore ga mamoru," meaning "I'll protect you."
At this, Maya will regain her composure and be grateful to Tatsuya.
Making these correct decisions allows Tatsuya to confess his love to
Maya later in the game, allowing the two to get together and become
lovers.  After the scene, you will be placed back on the city map
once again.  Be sure to save your game.

5.  Frequently Asked Questions
=======================================================================

5.1:  Where can I purchase Persona 2?
Many online retailers carry Persona 2.  I ordered my copy from Tronix
(www.tronixweb.com).  They're very reliable and have outstanding
customer service.  Another reputable online dealer is the National
Console Exchange (www.ncsx.com).

5.2:  Can you provide some general information about the game?
Persona 2: Innocent Sin
SLPS-02100
Designed by: Atlus
Release date (Japan): 6/24/99
Memory Card: 3 blocks
Supports: Dual Shock

5.3:  Is Persona 2 coming to the States?  If so, when?
Atlus has made no announcements regarding a translation of Persona 2.
It was once thought that the "mystery RPG" they were bringing over
might be Persona 2, or maybe Growlanser, it turned out to be a game
called Rhapsody (Marl Oukoku no Ningyouhime).  Personally, I doubt
the game will be released in English, mainly because of the
controversial themes in the game which an American audience wouldn't
find acceptable, such as the killing of school faculty, Nazis, etc.

Update:  The second installment of Persona 2, entitled Eternal
Punishment, will be released in America by Atlus.  However, they have
not made any announcements regarding Innocent Sin, which this FAQ
covers, as of yet.

5.4:  How does one acquire a Free Tarot and what do you do with it?
Free Tarot cards can be acquired from Demon Contracts or found in item
boxes.  If you take them to the Velvet Room, they can be transformed
into any one Tarot card you choose.
