Introduction
Legend of Mana is an Role-playing Game following the story of an un-named
protagonist take up a journey to find and restore the Mana Tree as he/she
meets new people, complete tonnes of quests, fight formidable foes, and
discover the secrets lies waiting in the world of Fa'Diel.
"The game offers a unique style of gameplay in which players are given the
ability to shape the world's structure through the use of Land Make System,
generating regions and quests in a non-linear gameplay system rather than a
strong main plotline." -Legend of Mana Wikipedia
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Game Features and Mechanics Summary ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
While in the surface Legend of Mana is your typical Role-Playing Game
navigating your character of choice, unlocking skills, crafting equipments,
killing monsters, completing quests, unraveling the story, and finally
finishing it, the game also offers it complex mechanics in terms of crafting
weapons/armors, crafting Instruments, and Golem building. Also thanks to the
extensive reasearch of LoM community about the games hidden perks such as
Land Value, unlocking Demi-Human pets, easter eggs, Land element value, etc.
that I managed to make and complete this guide in the first place.
For the new players who are not familiar in the said mechanics, i'll provide
some small details regarding those;
Land Placement: Each Artifacts/Regions have their respective elemental
attributes that can be raised using another Artifact's elemental attributes
provided that the newly placed Artifact is right beside it.. parallel to it
(East,West,South,North). Therefore, it let's the players to raise some land's
elemental attributes. This features is important in the game since some quests,
pets,and materials have required conditions for them to be available.
Quests: It is the Essence to the Game, completing quests is the only way to
aquired some Artifacts/Regions needed to progress in the story, other quests
required a sets of completed quests just to unlock it, and few of those quests
are needed to unlock the three workshops and that particular pet/s.
Equipment Smithy (Blacksmith): required completing "Path of the Blacksmith"
quest to unlock. This workshop let's the player to craft it's personalized
weapon/armor using the materials available in the game.
Instrument Workshop: required completing "Instrument 101" quest to unlock.
This workshop let's the players to craft Instruments such as drum, flute,
marimba, and harp. This said instruments is used in taming elemental spirits
& evoking spells in combat later in the game.
Golem workshop: required completing "Golem go Make 'em" Quest to unlock. This
workshop let's the player to craft a personalized Golem, one of the companions
in the game. Golem performs an attack patterns depending on the materials and
it's logic structure, such details is just vaguely explained in the game but
thanks to the help of the community, Golems are explained comprehesively
through available guides.
Some perks are not explained in-game but thanks to available Faqs written by
other players (see credits below), hidden informations that contribute to
overall walkthrough and requirements unlocking events/quests, are provided and
confirmed such as;
Land Value: It is a hidden perk of the game that makes some specific materials,
pet availability, and quests rewards available and aquireable in a walkthrough.
(for a more comprehensive information, see credits below and Find Vilurum post)
Demi-Human/Pets Availability: Demi-Human pets aren't hatch in eggs, they're
NPC-like pets that can only become available in an Artifacts/Regions with their
required three-Elemental points. Regarding about monster-type pets, their eggs
can only hatch high-grade pets if met the requirements needed (typically 4-5
steps away from Home) if not, you can hatch a hundred of eggs and still won't
get rare pets.
Cactus' Diary: Don't forget to record all your completed quests to you Cactus
Diary. This feature let's you to write and keep in track of all your completed
quests/events. In a way, serves as one of the Achievements of the game.. also
know what's you pet Cactus is thinking :D
New Game+ : After finishing the story, the game would offer the players to
save their progress, what it do is resetting the map and start again while
keeping your; Cactus Diary Entries, all your Items, Weapons and armors, still
unlocked all three workshops, Treant presently available at Home, unlocked
Pet Corral including all your current pets, and your character's stat build.
Easter Eggs: most of the game developers provide easter eggs to their games to
honor something/someone, sponsorships, reminding players about the company's
other games, or something that just there and for fun. Even legend of Mana have
some easter eggs hidden in it.
zykeeper's Quests Order & Land Placement Guide
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And so players try to come up with a walkthrough and land placements that
provides their needs and readily available for them wether be it a materials,
pets, or land elemental attributes, players are given freedom to come-up some
unique arrangements where they can be contented and settled in.
After I beat the game a couple of times and reset again and again, I finally
notice that I can make a map in a single playthrough that gives and unlock
almost everything the game has/have to offer. This Land Placement Guide and
Quest order would provide almost all things you need, unlocking all forms of
pets, completing all quests, convenient leveling spots, readily available
material sources, and having a Decent Elemental Attributes in growing crops

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~{Starting Point}~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
When you choose your land, head to the northeast portion of the map, and
position the cursor to a piece of land with 5 spots of water.
__
The land should look roughly like this drawing, with |**|representing water,
|__|
you'll notice some lands slots having parts of water in it.. don't worry, as
long as land-part is more dominant than water-part in that particular slot, it
can still be placed with any types of Artifacts except Pirate's Hook since it
requires a full waters slot.
Thanks to Anelson by letting me to use the text-format map (I don't know how
to advanced-text format) in their guide "Map/Artifact Placement Guide by
FDesroches / ANelson" and Andy Poon's Map drawing, I highly recommend to go
check that out! that's where I get most of informations needed to produce this
guide. Basically just go 1 block up from their Universal starting point.
