i. INTRODUCTION
=--=-=-=-=--=---===-=-=--=-=-==-=-=-=--=-==--==---=-==-=-=-==--=-=-=-=-=-==--==
"Inuyasha : A Feudal Fairy Tale" is a 2D fighting game based on the manga and
anime of the same name. The game features twelve characters, however, only
two are available at the start of the game. For most players, unlocking the
other ten characters will be their initial concern. To do this quickly, the
mini-games play an important role.
The main method of unlocking characters takes place in the Feudal Fairy Tale
mode. Once you collect enough jewel shards with a certain character in this
mode, the next character will be unlocked. Two of the three mini-games are
available in each run of the Feudal Fairy Tale. The better you do on these
games, the more shards you get, the faster you unlock the next character.
Once you beat the Feudal Fairy Tale with Kagome, a new game mode called
"Backpack" will appear in the title screen. Among other things, this
game mode will allow you to play the mini-games, once you have encountered
them in Feudal Fairy Tale Mode. Each game comes with a built in speed record.
If you can beat the record for all three games, you'll unlock another
character.
This guide offers strategies for each character in each mini-game. Hopefully,
these strategies will help to break the speed record for each game. In each
game, the characters are listed in order of speed, from fastest to slowest.
I've included times so that you can get an idea of how long each method
should take. Keep in mind these are only rough guidelines; I hope you can
execute each strategy cleaner and faster than me. If you know of any other
effective strategies, feel free to let me know. Hopefully, though, the
ones I've provided should be able to get you through. Good luck!

ii. ROCK SMASHING
=-=-==--=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-==-=--=-=-==--==--==-=-=-==-==--===-=-=--=---
Myoga's found a rock with three shards of the sacred jewel sealed inside of
it. Unfortunately, he's not strong enough to break it open himself, so he'll
need the help of your character to retrieve the shards. Break it open in
30 seconds or less, and you'll have accomplished your goal.
In the Feudal Fairy Tale, the number of shards you get depends on how much
of the rock you destroy. Breaking up the entire stone wins you all 3 shards.
Destroying half or more, but not all, of the rock will get you 2 shards.
Making any dent at all in the stone will uncover a single shard. Of
course, if you just stand there, no shards will be awarded.
In the mini-game, you must break the speed record of 20 seconds.
Every character can do it; so pick one and figure out how. If you need
help, check back here for some advice.
Generic Strategy : With your character, the standard procedure is to attack
the left side of the rock with the strong basic attack
or one of the special attacks. Then, you'll jump to the
right side of the rock and repeat. However, while this
process will most always lead to the destruction of the
entire rock, it also usually takes over 20 seconds to
execute. You'll either have to do this routine perfectly
or find a way to incorporate your super special attack
in order to break the mini-game speed record.
Tip : Holding the button down on an attack for an instant longer than you
normally would and the attack will be a little stronger. It may save
you a hit on the stone in the long run.
_______________________________
\ 1. Koga \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [13.24 seconds]
Koga's Wolf Wind attack is lightning quick, you can easily obliterate the
rock using it. Get right next to the rock before time starts, then hit it
9 times. Jump over to the right side of the screen and repeat the process,
this time only 8 attacks will do the trick. Any poison insects swooping
in will be killed by the Wolf Wind, so Koga should destroy the rock in
record setting fashion every time.
_______________________________
\ 2. Miroku \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [13.28 seconds]
This strategy is a case of a combination being greater than its parts;
it uses the Ashen Salt and Spirit Ward in tandem to completely obliterate
the stone. Used individually, each of these attacks is too slow to damage
the rock effectively, but together they're lightning quick. Begin by
standing right next to the left side of the rock. Attack with the Ashen
Salt, then immediately alternate to the Spirit Ward. Repeat this cycle five
times, and the left side of the rock will be destroyed. You'll also have
the rhythm to kill the insects coming at you. Jump to the other side
and repeat the alternating process. The only danger is that sometimes
on the right side, the second insect will get through and hit you.
Unfortunately, this insect is often carrying Shippo, so sometimes
you'll lose five seconds here. If you don't, though, you'll finish in
13-14 seconds.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [16.22 seconds]
This strategy is a less risky alternative to the previous. You will still
use the Ashen Salt/Spirit Ward cycle to attack the rock, but at the end
you throw in Miroku's Wind Tunnel to prevent the escape of the second,
possibly Shippo-carrying poisonous insect. Perform the same procedure for
the left side of the rock as the previous strategy. On the right side,
do three revolutions of Ashen Salt/Spirit Ward, then unleash the Wind Tunnel.
This should kill the insect and destroy the rest of the stone, although
sometimes you have to attack on more time to reduce it to pebble. Even so,
Miroku will finish with a good margin below the 20 second cutoff.
_______________________________
\ 2. Naraku \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [13.28 seconds]
Pay attention! Naraku's position is critical to executing this move.
During the introduction, move Naraku to virtually the midpoint between the
stone and the left side of the screen, but favor towards the left by just
a fraction. Unleash his Miasma, followed immediately by a Demon Puppet,
then fire off a succession of Miasma attacks. If you positioned Naraku
perfectly, the left side of the rock will be destroyed with four Miasma's,
otherwise it will be five. You shouldn't be bothered by poison insects;
they'll fly right into the Miasma.
Jump to the right side of the rock and immediately use six Miasma attacks
to destroy the stone. You'll want to position Naraku right by the stone,
but not quite snuggling up against it. Be careful not to attack too
quickly while turning around, or you might release Naraku's Poison Insect
attack, which takes a while to execute. The other poison insects still
shouldn't be a problem, although they will sneak through more often on
this side. Look for a time around 14 seconds if you do this right.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [17.06 seconds]
If you don't want to bother with precise positioning, this strategy will
work well. Start with Naraku to the extreme left of the screen and use
a Demon Puppet as soon as the time starts. Then move halfway to the stone
and use six Miasma attacks to destroy the left side. Jump to the right
side and use six more Miasma attacks to finish off the game.
--<-Third Strategy->-- Best Time [17.17 seconds]
This is the easiest strategy to execute. Just step up as close as you
can to each side of the rock and use Miasma attacks. The sides will be
destroyed after 7 shots each.
Demon Inuyasha uses a strategy similar to Koga's, but his attacks aren't
as effective, resulting in a slower time. You'll be using his Charge
attack, so smash up against the stone before the time begins. This
strategy has two main drawbacks: 1) The Charge attack doesn't establish a
good rhythm to kill the poisonous insects, so Demon Inuyasha will most
likely be hit by one, 2) He backs away a little from the rock after every
charge, so to be most effective you must try to take at least a step in
after every attack. This step will ensure the following attack will
inflict the most damage on the stone. Also, be sure to hold down the
square button an extra second, this way you will destroy the rock with
8 Charges on the right side and 6 on the left. Without holding it down,
destruction of the right side takes 7 Charges and an extra second.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [15.02 seconds]
Using Demon Inuyasha's Demonic Power will take the place of a couple of
Charge attacks. Like the previous strategy, use 8 Charges to destroy the
left side of the rock. Jump to the right and use 5 Charge attacks,
then finish it off with his Demonic Power. Realize that the Demonic Power
attack works only for very close ranges, so you'll want to be right next to
the rock when you use it.
_______________________________
\ 5. Inuyasha \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [15.05 seconds]
Inuyasha's best strategy is to use his Iron Reaver and finish off with the
Dragon Twister. Before the clock starts, snuggle him up right against the
rock. As soon as the countdown begins, attack the left side of the rock
with 10 Iron Reavers to destroy it; this should establish a rhythm that fights
off the poisonous insects as Inuyasha strikes the stone. Instantly jump
diagonally to the right side of the screen and attack the right side of the
rock and attack it with 6 Iron Reavers. Your rhythm should hold, so Inuyasha
won't be hit by the insects. After the sixth strike, unleash the
Dragon Twister, and the rock should be a pile of rubble. If you release the
Dragon Twister sooner, you'll break the rhythm and will probably be hit by
an insect.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [16.12 seconds]
You can still break the record without using the Dragon Twister, but it
costs you about a second. Attack the right side of the rock with 10
Iron Reavers and jump to the left side, just like in the First Strategy.
This time, hit the right side with 9 Iron Reavers to destroy the stone.
--<-Third Strategy-->- Best Time [18.15 seconds]
Using only the Wind Scar is a little tougher, and slower, than the other
methods. You can't stand directly next to the rock, as you'll end up
attacking the indestructable middle section instead of the vulnerable
sides. You also won't establish a good rhythm for fighting off the
poisonous insects. However, you can still break the record this way.
_______________________________
\ 6. Kagura \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [15.15 seconds]
Position Kagura about halfway between the rock and the left side of the
screen, but a little more towards the left side. When time begins,
release one Dance of the Dead attack, then summon Kanna once, then
perform 6 more Dance of the Dead attacks. This should protect you from
insects and destroy the left side of the stone. Jump to the right side
and use 7 more Dance of the Dead attacks. Hold the button down an
extra second on every attack.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [18.24 seconds]
Initially position Kagura the same way as the first strategy. Use 7
straight Dance of the Dead assaults; no insects should get through.
The middle of the left side of the stone will remain; walk up to it
and use one strong combination(3 quick taps of the Circle button),
then a single strong attack. Jump to the right side and use 7 more
Dance of the Dead spells to destroy the rock.
_______________________________
\ 7. Shippo \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [17.22 seconds]
Shippo can destroy the stone using just the basic strategy. You can
blindly attack with his Multiply Spell and still break the record.
Just jam up to the left side, use 6(sometimes 7) Multiply Spells, then
repeat on the right side. Rubble.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [18.01 seconds]
Using Shippo's Illusory Top attack is effective but costs some time.
Like the first strategy, you'll smash the left side of the rock using
6 Multiply Spells. Jump to the right side, unleash 4 Multiply Spells,
then kill the rock with the Illusory Top.
_______________________________
\ 8. Totosai \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [18.05 seconds]
Totosai's best method uses a combination of all his special attacks. To
begin, position Totosai about halfway between the rock and the left side
of the screen, but a little closer to the left side. When time begins,
use his Giant Hammer, followed quickly by the Momo Drop. Hold each
attack for an extra instant. Use this tandem a total of 4 times; the
middle portion of the left side of the rock should remain. Step almost
right next to it and unleash 2 Fire Breath attacks. Do not hold the
button down for these; an insect will likely hit Totosai if you do. Don't
just tap the button either because you'll probably end up needing an
extra attack.
Once the left side is destroyed, jump to the right, and use 4 tandems of
the Giant Hammer and Momo Drop, again holding the attacks for an extra
second. The rock should disintegrate in less than 20 seconds.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [24.20 seconds]
You can also eliminate the Fire Breath and just use the tandem of the
Giant Hammer and Momo Drop. However, this method is slower and results
in a horrible rhythm for avoiding insects. It will take 4-5 rounds of
the combo to destroy each side.
_______________________________
\ 9. Sesshomaru \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [19.02 seconds]
This is a weak event for Sesshomaru. All of his powerful attacks are very
slow, especially the Whip of Light. I've found the Tokijin to be the best
choice here, but even so, it's difficult to break the record using it.
One reason is that it doesn't have a good rhythm with the attack of the
poisonous insects, so Sesshomaru will likely take some damage from
them(usually after his sixth strike on the left side). Also, even though
the Tokijin works for this task, it is by no means ideal, and it will take
some practice and luck to break the record.
Begin the game in a crouching position right next to the left side of the
stone; the time it takes him to arise will be good natural delay. Unleash 5
Tokijin attacks as time begins, then hesitate a moment before the sixth.
This should catch the first poisonous insect in the Tokijin attack. Use
one more Tokijin for a total of 7, but there should still be a little bit
of the left side of the rock. Infinite Tokijins won't do anymore damage
to it, so crouch down and use Sesshomaru's strong attack combination(Hit
circle 4 times). This will destroy that side of the rock. Jump to the
right side and use 3 Tokijins, then hesitate again. Then, 5 more Tokijins
should finish off the rock and you should have a rhythm where the insects
won't hurt you.
_______________________________
\ 10. Sango \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [19.07 seconds]
Unfortunately, all of Sango's special attacks are ineffective for Rock
Smashing. The Hiraikotsu takes too long to return to her hands and the Chain
Attack also uses too much time to extend. Poison Powder is quicker, but it
only damages the lower portion of the stone. I've found her combinations to
be Sango's speediest methods.
Sango's combination of three strong attacks is her quickest method, but it
must be executed perfectly, which is rare. To perform this combination,
hit the circle button 3 times in quick succession. Position Sango right
next to the rock, then use 5 of these attacks to destroy the left side of the
stone. In the middle of the third attack, Sango will be hit by an insect;
this is fine! Once the left side is destroyed hop immediately over to the
right. If all is going well, you should have 18-19 seconds left.
Position Sango next to the rock, and use 2 more three attack combinations
on the right side. After Sango throws her Poison Powder to finish off
the combo, immediately summon Kirara. She should destroy the rest of
the stone.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [20.24 seconds]
Sango's longer five hit combination sacrifices some speed. To execute
the attack, use a combo of 2 strong attacks, 1 weak attack, 1 strong attack,
and 1 weak attack(succesively hit Circle, Circle, Triangle, Circle, Triangle)
for her quickest finishing time. Use 3 of these combinations on the left side.
The middle portion of the rock will still remain; hit it with one strong attack
to destroy it. Jump over to the right side and immediately summon Kirara.
Use one more five hit combination, then finish the stone off with 3 strong
attacks.
_______________________________
\ 11. Kagome \
--<-First Strategy-->- Best Time [19.10 seconds]
Kagome's strategy consists of using her Spiritual Power and Purification
Arrow. As with Inuyasha, step up right next to the stone, and then start
hitting it with Kagome's Spiritual Power as soon as the time starts. You
should have a good rhythm for fighting off the poisonous insects. After
10 hits, the right side will be destroyed and you can jump over to the
left side. Usually, this means you'll jump over a poisonous insect, which
is fine unless it happens to be carrying Shippo. There's nothing you can
do in that case, however, just let it go and try again. Once you jump
to the left side of the rock, immediately shoot 1 Purification Arrow at
it, then hit it with 8 Spiritual Power attacks. The Arrow is important,
without it, Kagome won't have a rhythm, and she'll most likely lose some
time to insect attacks. As she barely comes in under the 20 second
cutoff, she can't really afford to give up that time.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [19.17 seconds]
This is a variation of the first strategy that uses Kagome's super
special attack, the Sacred Arrow. Basically, you execute the procedure
of the first strategy until you begin attacking the right side of the
stone with her Spiritual Power. This time, use only 6 Spiritual Power
attacks instead of 8, and then shoot a Sacred Arrow at the stone.
However, this strategy may be flashier, but it's also riskier. The
extended time it takes for Kagome to shoot the Sacred Arrow leaves her
open to insect attacks. With the time virtually identical, the safe bet
is to use the first strategy.
--<-Third Strategy->-- Best Time [20.03 seconds]
In this method, you use Kagome's strong attack combination, which consists
of hitting the circle button four times. It takes about four rounds of the
combination to destroy each side of the stone. As you can see, however,
even if everything goes perfectly and Kagome isn't hit by insects(very
unlikely) you still probably won't break the 20 second barrier.
_______________________________
\ 12. Kikyo \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [19.20 seconds]
Kikyo's strategy is rough; you must execute it perfectly, and she'll still
only break the barrier by a narrow margin. Kikyo will be using a combination
of her Curse Deflection and Ascension. Make sure you hold each button down
an extra instant to get the most out of the attack. Begin the round by placing
Kikyo right next to the stone. Use her Curse Deflection, then immediately
switch to Ascension. The left side should be destoyed with 5 Curse
Deflections and 4 Ascensions. Jump to the left side and repeat the cycle.
This time it should take 5 of each.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [21.03 seconds]
The combination of Purification and Curse Deflection is a little slower
than the previous strategy. Begin the cycle with Purification, then rotate
a total of 5 times to destroy each side.
--<-Third Strategy->-- Best Time [21.05 seconds]
The basic strategy is almost even with the Purification/Curse Deflection
combination. Use Kikyo's strong three-hit combo(three taps of the Circle
button); five of these will destroy the left side of the rock. Jump to the
right and use 3 more three-hit combos, then unleash Kikyo's Super Special
Attack, the Sacred Arrow, to pulverize the stone.
--<-Fourth Strategy->-- Best Time [23.28 seconds]
Using only Kikyo's Purification attack won't break the record, but it will
completely destroy the stone. A total of 10 attacks on the left side,
followed by 9 on the right will finish it off.

iii. FLAME SLASHING
=-=-=-=--=-==-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-==-==-=-==-=-===--=
It seems Jaken has gotten his hands on some jewel shards. This is your
chance to steal them. All you have to do is hit Jaken once! Sound easy?
Well, unfortunately he's protecting himself with the Staff of Skulls. Fight
through the flames spouting from the staff and lay a good hit on Jaken
in under 60 seconds, and you've accomplished your goal.
In the Feudal Fairy Tale, the number of shards you get depends on how fast
you hit Jaken. For every 20 seconds that pass you'll receive one less shard.
Obviously, the quicker you are the better.
In the mini-game, you must break the speed record of 25 seconds.
Every character can do it; so pick one and figure out how. If you need
help, check back here for some advice.
Generic Strategy : The usual procedure for this game is pretty simple. You
use 3 or 4 of your character's special attacks to snuff
Jaken's flame. Then you run up to him and hit him with
a crouching, normal attack, or use a long range attack.
_______________________________
\ 1. Naraku \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [2.21 seconds]
The easiest way to tag Jaken is to use Naraku's poison insects. Releasing one
swarm will often put out the whole flame AND take Jaken down. If the insects
connect on the first pass, the game will be over in only a little over
2 seconds. Although the Saimyosho will sometimes miss Jaken, repeated efforts
will produce success in well under 25 seconds.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [4.02 seconds]
If you want to feel more like you actually earned something using Naraku,
try this fast, and somewhat still easy method. Simply attack using 3
Miasmas or Demon Puppets, or a combination of the two. Once Jaken's
flame is extinguished, walk up and hit him with a crouching strong attack.
_______________________________
\ 2. Koga \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [2.22 seconds]
Once again, as with the Rock Smashing game, Koga's Wolf Wind attack is the
most useful. Use it to attack the flame head on. Yes, he will get burned,
but that won't hold him back for any significant amount of time. If you're
lucky, Koga will break through on his third attack and even hit Jaken with
it. Normally, though, it will take 4 or 5 Wolf Wind attacks to kill the
flame, and then possibly one more when Koga is right on top of Jaken.
Even with the extra hits, you should finish in around five seconds or less.
_______________________________
\ 3. Sesshomaru \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [3.03 seconds]
Use Sesshomaru's Poison Claws to beat down the flame. Walk up to the
edge of the fire before time begins and use the Poison Claw. Repeat
as necessary until the flame expires. Then walk up to Jaken and use a
crouching strong attack. If the flame begins small, only 2 Poison Claws
will extinguish the flame. Otherwise, 3 or 4 will suffice, and you'll
complete the level in four to seven seconds.
_______________________________
\ 4. Miroku \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [3.12 seconds]
Once again, Miroku's combination of Ashen Salt and Spirit Wards will
do the trick quickly. Start off with the Salt, then immediately unleash
a Spirit Ward. Two complete combos should put out the fire and knock
Jaken on the ground.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [4.21 seconds]
Miroku can also defeat Jaken using only his Spirit Wards. Use 3 to snuff
the fire; a fourth should hit Jaken. Be careful with this method, though,
if you mistime pushing the right button, you'll end up walking face first
into Jaken's flame and losing time.
Demon Inuyasha's Charge attack is the most useful here. The scenario will
play out similar to Koga's. Use Charge to take the flame on; Demon
Inuyasha will be burned but not necessarily slowed down. If you're lucky,
the ordeal will be over with 3 Charges, but usually it will take 4 or 5.
Holding the square button down for that extra instant does seem to make a
difference here, so be mindful of it. I doubt you can make it faster than
Koga can, since Demon Inuyasha takes some time to back up after each Charge.
_______________________________
\ 6. Inuyasha \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [3.26 seconds]
Inuyasha's strategy is simple. Back up to the edge of the screen, then
unleash 3 straight Wind Scars when time begins. This will extinguish the
flames and put Inuyasha close enough to walk up and hit Jaken with a
crouching strong attack.
_______________________________
\ 7. Shippo \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [3.29 seconds]
Shippo's strategy takes requires some precision jumping, as you'll be using
Fire Bombs to beat Jaken. Before time begins, position Shippo right in
front of where the largest flame can extend. Immediately jump up and
release a Fire Bomb; remember, you don't have to release it at the apex
of his leap, throw the bomb right away. Repeat this step instantly. Next,
do a mini-jump to the right and throw the next Fire Bomb. The distance
should be about the width of Shippo himself. After 3 Fire Bombs, the flame
should be out. Do a full jump to the right and throw a Fire Bomb at Jaken
in order to defeat him.
_______________________________
\ 8. Kagome \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [4.00 seconds]
Like Inuyasha, Kagome best strategy is the simple, generic one. Position
her in front of the flame and use 3 Spiritual Power attacks; you might have
to move her over a little for the third strike. The flame should be out,
so just walk Kagome over to Jaken and whack him with a crouching strong attack,
and it'll be over.
_______________________________
\ 9. Kagura \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [4.03 seconds]
Position Kagura next to the flame before time begins. Use 3 or 4 Dance of
the Dead attacks to put out the flame. Then, run a little past the center
of the screen and use Kanna to take Jaken down. Easy enough.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [4.06 seconds]
This is if you're not comfortable using Kanna. Again, use the Dance of the
Dead to extinguish the flame, 3 or 4 will do. Then, run up to Jaken and
use a crouching strong attack. As you can see, it doesn't cost that
much time.
--<-Third Strategy->-- Best Time [7.02 seconds]
This method mainly uses the Dance of Blades. Just stand to the left of
the screen and pummel the flame with these attacks. Keep in mind that they
are weaker than the Dance of the Dead, so it will take more of them to put
out the fire. Once it's out, just walk to the center of the screen and
suck out Jaken's soul(does he have one?) with Kanna.
_______________________________
\ 10. Sango \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [5.03 seconds]
This method is nice, but tricky. Position Sango right next to the flame
before time begins. Use Poison Powder to start putting out the fire;
4 shots should do the trick. Move as close as you can to the fire to release
the Poison Powder each time. You should be almost in the center of the
screen now. Next, release the Hiraikotsu, even if the fire isn't completely
out yet. It should destroy the fire and hit Jaken on the way back.
Try it a few times and you should get the knack for it.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [13.26 seconds]
This method uses only the Hiraikotsu. Just stand in the corner and keep
throwing it until the boomerang hits Jaken. Be warned, this strategy is
actually pretty ineffective; the flame will usually have returned by the
time the Hiraikotsu gets to Jaken. Improve your chances by moving Sango
closer to him as the flame receeds.
--<-Third Strategy->-- Best Time [16.22 seconds]
If the first strategy doesn't work out, you can use only Poison Powder
to put out the fire. Keep in mind this usually takes 8-10 doses to do the
job. Once the fire is out, throw the Hiraikotsu to take care of Jaken.
Careful, though, you want to be close enough to him so the fire doesn't
return by the time the boomerang gets to him; stand closer to the
middle of the screen.
_______________________________
\ 11. Kikyo \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [5.16 seconds]
Before the timer starts, position Kikyo right in front of where the flame
will be. Use her Purification to hit the flame, it will take a minimum of
3 or 4 shots to put it out, more if you're unlucky. Once the fire dies,
shoot off an Ascension attack to hit Jaken. Kikyo will win with plenty
of time to spare.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [7.21 seconds]
Instead of using Purication, you can use Kiyko's combination of strong
attacks to kill the fire. In the best case, two combinations will extinguish
it, but it usually takes more. There's also a risk that this strategy will
get Kiyko burned by the flames, costing you even more time. Once the fire is
out, again use Ascension to knock Jaken down.
_______________________________
\ 12. Totosai \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [8.24 seconds]
Totosai's really slow in this game; too many of his attacks lunge forward
into the flame, and getting hit really throws him off. I use a combination
of his Fire Breath and Giant Hammer to defeat Jaken. Before the time begins,
position Totosai about two steps away from the left side of the screen.
Alternate his attacks, first using the Fire Breath and immediately following
with the Giant Hammer. Move Totosai forward little by little as you're able.
It should take a total of 3 combinations of the attacks to extinguish the
flame and hit Jaken. Sometimes, though, it may take 4 or 5, but you should
always be able to beat the speed record comfortably.
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [10.10 seconds]
Another way to defeat Jaken is to use Tottsai's strong attack(circle).
Hit the button only twice to hit the flame. Any more and you'll launch
Totosai's combo, which will most likely get him burned. After the 2
strong attacks, use the Giant Hammer for a little oomph. Move closer when
possible. If you're lucky, the last Giant Hammer will kill Jaken, otherwise
walk up and smack him.

The Saimyosho are attacking! An onslaught of Naraku's poison insects are
after your character. They're flying in on from the right side of the screen
on three levels. For the bottom level, you must crouch to attack them, the
middle level requires only a normal attack, and the top level requires an
aerial assault. In order to beat the game, you must kill 45 of these insects
in 60 seconds. They come slowly at first, but as time goes on the insects
fly faster and come in waves. Only by keeping your concentration can you
beat this game.
In the Feudal Fairy Tale, the number of shards you get depends on how
many of the Saimyosho you kill. For every 15 you take down, you get
another shard of the sacred jewel. If you kill less than 15, you get
nothing.
In the mini-game, you must break the speed record by killing 45 insects in
50 seconds. This is difficult; averaging a little more than a second per
kill means you have little margin for error. However, every character can
do it; so pick one and figure out how. If you need help, check back here
for some advice.
Generic Strategy : In order to simply beat the level, but not necessarily the
50 second barrier, use this simple method. You want to
use your characters quickest simplest attack, so attack with
the weak attack for the insects on the bottom two levels.
For those on the top, use your aerial strong attack.
About thirty seconds in, when the poisonous insects begin
to speed up, forget about the insects on the top level
and keep your feet on the ground. If you do go after the
higher level bugs, not only will you put yourself out of
position for the lower level insects, but you're also
likely to miss any insects carrying an item. I've also
found that positioning the character about half a step
from the left side of the screen is a very convenient
location for picking off all the insects, especially
those carrying a hostage.
Tip : If two insects on the same level are coming at you in quick succession,
you may be able to kill them with one weak hit. Simply hold the triangle
button down an instant longer than you normally would, and the attack
will last a split-second longer, hopefully killing both insects.

\ 1. Kikyo \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [42.07 seconds]
Kikyo's Ascension attack is especially effective in this exercise; it will
take out any insects coming on the bottom two levels. Position Kikyo a
half-step away from the left side of the screen. In the beginning use the
generic strategy; hit top level enemies with an aerial strong attack and the
lower ones with a weak attack. Once the insects speed up, however, give up
on most of the top level insects and just start throwing Ascension; it will
take out 2 or 3 bugs every time. The record should easily fall.

\ 2. Miroku \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [42.09 seconds]
Miroku's regular strong attack is very useful for this drill; it allows him
to kill insects on the highest level without his feet leaving the ground.
For the strong attack to connect with these lofty enemies, wait until the
insect is just in front of Miroku. Careful, if your timing is off you'll
miss. Position Miroku on the left side of the screen and use his weak
attacks for the other insects, and you should break the record with no
problems.
_______________________________
\ 3. Totosai \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [43.04 seconds]
Totosai's special attacks aren't useful on this stage. The insects
are too fast to be hit by the Momo Drop, and his fire attacks are too
slow; he'll end up getting beaten by numerous insects. Fortunately, his
regular attacks are very fast, so you shouldn't have any problem using the
generic strategy. Position Totosai about a half-step from the left side
of the screen, use his weak attacks for the insects on the bottom two
levels and his aerial strong attack for the top level enemies. Keep in
mind that his aerial attack has a very long reach; for maximum effectiveness,
hit the insects as soon as possible, at the extreme end of Totosai's reach.
This will give you plenty of time to recover for the next wave of insects.

\ 4. Sango \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [43.29 seconds]
Sango possesses the easiest way to defeat this minigame. Simply sit
back in the left corner of the screen and constantly toss her Hiraikotsu.
It will kill the insects on every level, so she will rack up 45 kills in no
time, and it takes absolutely no coordination on your part!
--<-Second Strategy->-- Best Time [49.02 seconds]
Sango can also win using the generic strategy, although it will take longer
than her brainless method. Position her about a step away from the
left side of the screen; use her aerial strong attack to kill insects
on the top level and her weak attack to kill all the others. Ignore insects
on the top level once they begin to speed up.
Using the basic strategy with Demon Inuyasha is the most effective way to
beat the level with him. The only tricky part is his aerial strong attack,
which takes precise timing to connect. After his follow-through, his hand
must be pointing directly at his target, the insect, or Inuyahsa won't hit
it. This becomes especially difficult once the insects begin to speed up,
so you want be prudent in judging which insects on the top level to attack
and which to let escape.
Demon Inuyasha's Charge attack is useful towards the end of the round. If
you have only two or three insects remaining, use his charge to streak across
the screen. You'll hit all the insects coming on the bottom two levels and
most likely accomplish the goal. Don't use the Charge before this point,
though, as you'll finish the attack on the extreme right side of the screen.
Inuyasha will have to jump slowly back to the left side, taking time and
allowing some insects to escape.

\ 6. Kagura \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [44.21 seconds]
Kagura's special attacks don't work well for this task. Her Dance of
the Dead and Kanna attacks are take too much recovery time; Kagura will be
damaged by the insects that get through. One might think that her
Dance of Blades attack would be ideal, however, it only takes out insects
on the center level, leaving Kagura open to the insects on the lower level.
Therefore, Kagura's best strategy is the generic strategy. Position her
about a half-step from the left side of the screen. Use weak attacks to
take out the insects on the bottom two levels and her strong aerial attack
for the highest level. For her aerial attacks, try to time it so that she
hits the insect at the full extension of her attack to give her the most
time to recover for the next insect.

\ 7. Naraku \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [45.12 seconds]
Naraku's Miasma helps him to accomplish this task, although you can use the
generic strategy until the insects speed up. Position Naraku about a half-
step from the extreme left of the screen and use his weak attacks to take
out the insects on the bottom two levels. If you use his aerial strong
attack for those on the top level, your timing must be spot on because the
range for this attack is small. Try to wait until the last possible instant
and kill the insect while Naraku is still on the rise.
Once the insects begin to speed up, start to use Naraku's Miasma to kill
the insects on the top level. If you wait to deploy it until the insect
is directly over Naraku's head(or further), then sometimes the attack will
also take out the next approaching insect. You'll end up getting two kills
with one shot, which is an obvious advantage.
_______________________________
\ 8. Sesshomaru \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [47.10 seconds]
Sesshomaru's Tokijin and Poison Claws are useless for this exercise; they
actually open him up to attacks from poison insects on the top level instead
of killing them. Instead, you can use his Whip of Light in a strategy much
like Naraku's with his Miasma. Position Sesshomaru a half-step from the
left side of the screen and use his weak attacks to take care of the insects
on the bottom two levels. You can use his aerial strong attack for those
on the top level, but his range is limited so timing is critical. Try to
delay the jump and attack while Sesshomaru is still on the rise.
Once the insects begin to speed up, use the Whip of Light to catch the
insects on the top level. Unleash it when the insect has passed over
Sesshomaru's head and is about to escape; the late attack will hopefully
kill both that insect and the next one in line. You should break the record
easily.
_______________________________
\ 9. Inuyasha \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [47.18 seconds]
For Inuyasha, use the generic strategy combined with his super special attack
whenever it becomes available. Position him about a half-step away from the
left side of the screen and use this weak attacks on the insects in the
bottom two levels. Use his strong aerial attack for those on the top level.
When his Spiritual Gauge fills, take advantage by using the Dragon Twister.
This attack will take out any insects on the first two levels, so try
to use it when it will take out 3 or 4 of them.
_______________________________
\ 10. Kagome \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [47.25 seconds]
Kagome's Purification Arrow may seem like a good fit for this test, but it
will only kill one insect, and its speed makes it impractical. Her other
strong attacks also offer no special advantage, so it's best just to use the
generic strategy. Position Kagome about a half-step away from the left
side of the screen. Use her weak attacks on the insects on the bottom two
levels and her strong aerial attack for those on the top level. If you don't
make too many mistakes, she should break the record with some time to spare.
_______________________________
\ 11. Shippo \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [48.20 seconds]
Shippo is also relegated to using the generic strategy. His Fire Bombs
only take out one insect at a time, as does his Multiply Spell, surprisingly.
Position Shippo about a half-step from the left side of the screen. Use
his weak attacks for opponents on the bottom two levels, his strong aerial
attack for the top-level insects. The hardest part of using Shippo is the
perception of where his attacks will land. Since he's so short, it
seems that you should attack the lower level insects without crouching.
However, you must put this out of your mind and use Shippo just as the
other characters. Keep your concentration and you should be able to get
past his test.
_______________________________
\ 12. Koga \
--<-First Strategy->-- Best Time [49.05 seconds]
Again, this is a variation of the generic strategy. Koga's aerial attack
must be used with very precise timing; his strong attack doesn't have
a long range, so you must hit the insect when its right in front of him.
You should delay your jump to hit the insect while Koga is on the rise;
especially once things speed up. Use his weak attack for insects on the
bottom two levels, and position him towards the left side of the screen.
Like Demon Inuyahsa with his Charge attack, Koga can use his Wolf Wind
attack to take out multiple insects on all three levels. Use it once
you're down to the last two-four kills, and you should finish of the task
with one strike. Don't use it before then, you'll end up on the extreme
right side of the screen, having to waste time jumping back to the
left side. It's most effective to use the attack at the end.
