1. INTRODUCTION
Hello Kitty's Cube Frenzy(HKCF) isn't an especially hard game, but in
case you wanted to see where everything went and how to pull off certain
stunts, I decided to write this up. Because this world can never have
too many critical writing on Hello Kitty products. And anyway if a Hello
Kitty game was impossible then it sure would make a lot of kids cry and
tha H to tha K ain't down wit' that, now. Word!
...on the other hand it is a nice game that causes you to combine two
things--moving Hello Kitty back nd forth and dropping cubes. The object
is to get Hello Kitty to climb up the cubes(sometimes you want them to
vanish, sometimes you don't) to get all the items on the screen. This
involves a need for construction. It's also time-critical and putting
pieces down faster is rewarded slightly by the time bonuses you get back
when cubes vanish. The game can proceed through several stories and
encourages replays as you can play at easy/normal/hard
Note that I am not including 2 player strategies.
2. CONTROLS
The most important thing to note here is that O is the confirmation
and X is the 'back' button which is the opposite of most PlayStation
games. A warning--use them wrong and you may hose your current high-
scoring game :/.
You'll be controlling two entities, Hello Kitty and the cubes. This
may seem hard, but the cubes drop so slowly that the double
responsibility should not be crushing for young childrens. Hello Kitty
can only be moved left or right--she can climb up stairs, one square up
for every square left/right. If she is walking left then L1 makes her
run left. R1 makes her walk right although there's a brief break before
she does. If she runs into a wall she stops to catch her breath, and if
you drop a cube on her pressing the down button she'll spin around dizzy
for a bit.
You can trap Hello Kitty if you want--this is useful if you want to
concentrate on building a stair to get to a hard to reach item, and she
is in a precarious position. If she's at an edge you can also tap L1 or
R1 so she keeps running into it every so often.
You can rotate the cubes or cube clusters with O(clockwise) and
X(counter.) They can move in 4 squares before they drop, and just before
they touch the ground you can still move them. So for instance if you
are careful you can thread the needle here and drop a single red cube to
the bottom:
There are a few different types of cube clusters.
1. a 1x1 cube. This is good for building a small stair and usually
harmless.
2. a set of cubes diagonal to each other. The glowing cube is the one
that the other rotates around. You can often slip or rotate this in to
get cubes you didn't think you could, or you can build a stair or trap
someone.
3. a 1x3 set of cubes. One end cube is a different color from the other
two. You can usually just dissolve a piece like this even if you have
nowhere constructive to put it, and placed on its side, it can often
provide a bridge from two structures with gaps between them.
4. a 2x2 set of cubes. One side is one color, the other is another.
These are the trickiest to place but can work quite well if you are
trying to remove cubes quickly.
Cubes aren't good or bad in themselves. Generally you won't want to
dissolve them when you want to build a stair, but you will if 1)you're
short on time or 2) you need to get Hello Kitty out of a mess or 3)
there are a lot guarding a certain item.
Hello Kitty can fall off a ledge and get a cube--in face if she is on
a cube with a drop to the left, and the item is just left, she will pick
it up as she falls off.
One advanced trick with cube clusters that fall is to get Hello Kitty
to fall on one. Then as you steer it Hello Kitty is moved with it--
although she can still fall off. This is a good way of getting her to
pick up an item suspended well in space without her falling and getting
stunned.
Speaking of getting stunned--if she falls several squares she will be
out of commission for a few moves. Hello Kitty also spins around if you
drop a piece quickly on her, and if you drop a piece next to her she
feels the shock and pauses a bit with a big ! over her head. She also
pauses to catch her breath if you make her turn around after she's
running or she hits the edge running.
Hello Kitty loses a 'life' if she falls to the bottom or if time runs
out. The bad guys can't kill her but they can make things annoying for
her.
3. ENVIRONMENT
3-1. SCORING
I'm unaware of the difference between easy and medium. But with hard,
you're forced to get the items in a certain order.
You seem to get 100 points and one second for each cube dissolved. I
don't believe you get points for the solid cubes that are involved. For
chain reactions you seem to get double the points(but not time) for the
first chain before things drop, triple for the second, and so forth. So
for instance:
RRY (2 reds/yellow)
vvv
RRY
R Y
Would get you 800 points as 8 cubes disappear before anything else gets
rearranged.
R
R
Y
v
Y
Y
R
Would get you 300 points for the three yellows, then 300*2 for the three
reds.
Extra at 50000, 100000, 200000, 400000, 800000, 1600000.
For story mode:
easy: Bonus points = (180 - seconds) * 100
Items 100 * # of items
medium: Bonus points = (180 - seconds) * 200
Items 1000 * # of items
hard: Bonus points = (180 - seconds) * 300
Items 10000 * # of items
For extra mode:
easy: Bonus points = (180 - seconds) * 100
Items 1000 * # of items
medium: Bonus points = (180-seconds) * 400
Items 10000 * # of items
hard: Bonus points = (180-seconds) * 600
Items 20000 * # of items
(must get all items in certain order)
On hard you seem to get more time for each block you zap. One second to
be precise. Solid blocks aren't counted in this.
You can continue a game with the same score after game over but if you
goof up with X/O it can reset.
Note: after you've cleared, You can drop through and survive to the next
level, and you can dissolve a last group of cubes, but you can't fill up
the screen.
On easy level you can string things out a bit to get a few extra points,
but otherwise you want to get things going as quickly as possible. Push
blocks down ASAP even if you need to sneak them in.
My best totals are:
2166000 on extra/hard
1258000 on extra/medium
~1600000 on story/hard
~300000 on story/medium
3-2. BAD GUYS
Well, they're not so VERY bad, but they're the best that the forces of
evil could spare.
BADTZ-MARU: he's a black penguin who gets rather cross when Hello Kitty
finds one of her items or if you drop an item on his head(i.e. pushing
down, not if it lands softly. Whichever way he's facing, he will run
that way until he hits the edge or runs into a cube. Then he will try to
kick it--and every cube behind it and touching it--one square to the
side. He will fail if 1)Hello Kitty or one of the other bad guys is at
the receiving end of a kick or 2)a wall is at the receiving end--1) or
2) applying even behind cubes.
PANDABA: gets mad if you drop a cube on him. He kicks adjacent cubes 90
degrees right.
HANAMARU: he doesn't really do anything even when he gets mad.
Bad guys can be used as de facto stairs but they can also be nuisances
that block you in. You can also walk on top of them since they walk as
fast as Hello Kitty. Most of the time if you're level with them and run
into them, you can walk over them(especially running from behind) but
other times it's more up to chance. This can help you get an item that
would otherwise be out of your reach.
Bad guys can also block your way either by standing on top of you(i.e.
they hit a wall) or standing in your way with no way for either one of
you to climb over the other. This can lose you valuable time, and the
only thing to do is wait it out until they decide to move it. And they
can be slow.
If bad guys fall through the bottom or off something they aren't
really hurt. They just appear on the top of the screen somewhere else.
3-3. HOW CUBES REACT
The cubes are pretty predictable. If more than three of them are in a
chain then they will all disappear. If there are any cubes above them,
those cubes will drop. Let's say you've got a green chain placing a
diagonal clump as follows, and there are cubes above.
YRB YRB
=> G
G G GGG
G G G G
The yellow cube will drop 3 squares, the red one, and the blue two--
corresponding to the number of green squares below. Then the game looks
to see if you've formed a new chain with any falling cubes, and it
repeats the process. Several chains with one block give you much more
added time to the hourglass.
Most of the time you'll be the one making cubes disappear, but when
Badtz-Maru kicks cubes over, they may disappear that way. Some later
levels are set up so he can cause a chain reaction.
Solid cubes, which you can't get rid of, react this way. This presents
a problem if a solid cube is just above an item--it can block the item
out. And then you'll need it to drop it some more by getting a chain of
cubes under them, and if this isn't possible you will be stuck on a
level.
3-4. SPECIAL TREATS YOU UNLOCK
Winning story mode unlocks extra mode, which is more linear but has
harder puzzles too.
After completing each world you get a chapter in Hello Kitty's story
book unlocked, and you also unlock her costume from there. The story
flows well regardless of which worlds you've completed, and you can fill
it all in with just three complete games. You can adjust costumes as
well mid-game. If you complete the harder extra mode, you are rewarded
with more characters--all the ones you ran into in freeplay--that you
can play with. Using Badtz-Maru adds a bit of challenge to the game as
he looks just like the 'bad' Badtz-Maru!
Each time you complete a level in story/extra mode you can replay it
in freeplay mode to see if you can beat your old best score. Here the
strategy is to see how quickly you can get through on harder
levels(points for time being more valuable then) or, if you can't find a
way to take under three minutes, how long you can last once you're
close--just dissolving bricks for extra points before the timer runs
out.
4. GENERAL STRATEGIES
4-1. REDUCING STUFF
Reducing the blocks to the bottom shouldn't be too hard. Basically
because the play area is 15 wide it should not be hard to find a place
to dump the colors you don't know what to do with. You can get rid of
them later. The main thing is not to get an item caught near the top
where everything else that falls will have restricted mobility. The main
thing to note is that if you have a 2x2 square dropping then place it so
the colors are in rows not columns i.e.
GG
BB
vv
B
B
This will cause the green block to drop down some and make things a
little clearer.
Note that diagonal blocks work at least as well as single blocks i.e.
B
B
vv
B
B
You'll also want to look for combinations in a bichrome shape i.e.
something that causes two colors of block to vanish.
4-2. BUILDING STAIRS
One of the key parts to building stairs is learning timing.
Understanding the process isn't too hard. There are a few types of
stairs.
1. straight diagonal.
Let's say that there's an item 5 right and 5 up from where you are.
Then you can just fill in the spaces making sure to go up and over one
square. Be creative in how you build stuff up--the 2x2 blocks are good
for a base and you may want to take special advantage of the diagonal
pieces. Just be sure not to fall off(in this case) to the right. An
example of a 5x5 stair might be as follows with numbers for each piece
as it's placed chronologically.
4
64
6 4
33 5
233 5
1 2 45
Remember here that it's very bad to make cubes disappear, so be sure
everything clashes. Don't worry if you'll need to construct a stairway
going the opposite way later; with all the different colors in your
stair you're sure to find cubes to break it down pretty quickly, and
some of its base can be re-used.
It's much trickier to build a stairway up to several squares above where
you are. Still there's one strategy that always works well. To be safe
you can just build walls on each side for Hello Kitty to run into so she
doesn't fall off the tower you're building. Otherwise you want to work
as follows:
G
R G R
Y YR YR
Y > Y > Y
XXXXXX XXXXXX XXXXXX
Now you'll have to place the red diagonal when Hello Kitty is on the
yellow diagonal, and this may require placing the red diagonal in the
right place before jiggling Hello Kitty back and forth so that the
diagonal doesn't land on her.
With other pieces you can spread out the plateau Hello Kitty walks on
as she climbs to the top--remember you can only really make the stairs
one at a time and even if you get a diagonal piece that allows you up 2,
Hello Kitty risks falling to the other side.
4-3. TRAPPING HELLO KITTY OR HER ENEMIES
Often you'll want to trap Hello Kitty so that you don't have to worry
about controlling her as she has a lot of energy and if she can fall off
into the void unwatched it would be easier if you could pen her up for a
bit before making a path for her to walk and releasing her. For this you
can just run her into a wall and then place either a diagonal piece on
top of her or a 2x2 or 1x3 piece to the side. The diagonal piece is best
since it will require the least effort to break out of things.
You can do the same for the bad guys only watch out for Badtz-Maru;
it's best to corner him in with a 2x2 given how he kicks stuff over, and
if he's really annoying you would do well to wait for him to go into a
corner. A diagonal piece wouldn't hold him long but a 1x3 would be OK.
He'd need 2 kicks there, 3 for the 2x2.
4-4. RUNNING/WALKING
Running is actually a good idea sometimes--say you have to make Hello
Kitty run back and forth on a 2-width platform. Then if you hit L1-L1-R1
she will be exhausted from running even a short distance.
You can also get Hello Kitty to stop a bit if you drop something near
or on top of her. If you are building a steep stair then
4-5. NEUTRALIZING ENEMIES
Badtz-Maru is a tricky enemy to deal with. Often it's worthwhile to
wait until he moves the other way before Hello Kitty picks up an item,
as he may wind up kicking a wall, which is futile.
4-6. TRICK PLACEMENTS
Here you'll want to pay attention to three things: often a trick
placement is below a solid block, and if you cause cubes to vanish then
the solid block may drop and ruin things. Also, if you have a diagonal
or 1x3 piece, it may be tough to rotate in certain quarters. Finally,
when a piece drops, there's only a brief period of time where it can
slide to the left or right.
You also have a bit of leeway when it comes to rotation. Remember that
the 'center' piece of a diagonal set of cubes is the glowing one, which
tells you the way something rotates, and you can actually rotate so that
the top of your rotated cubes intersects with what's already placed.
This gives you a bit of time.
In general you won't want to push down on the pad too far as the game
is rather sensitive, and unlike some versions of Tetris you can't push
down and right, say, to slide something in.
Also you can slide a piece over three squares for every square it
moves down.
Examples of when to use trick placements:
Y <-falling yellow brick
y <-solid yellow
X <-solid
The yellow brick can go under the solid yellow, and the next yellow to
touch them will zap everything else.
Or if you want to stick a single brick or a diagonal one in a cranny
then that is also possible.
X X
X X
X X
X X
X
X
Here you can move a single cube down the chute by holding left(or a
diagonal cube.)
A tougher trick shot might be as follows:
Y
Y
vv
G
YY
R YB
RRYB
Here you could rotate the block and place it to get 3 cubes out--but
you could also rotate it clockwise at the last minute to take out all
six yellows.
4-7. WASTING PIECES YOU CAN'T USE
Sometimes randomness will take over, and while you're waiting for that
yellow a blue may keep falling down. Fortunately you'll usually be
concentrating on a third of the board which leaves the other two-thirds
open for dumping pieces, and given that there are only four colors and
three that are useless at any one time, you don't need to have any more
than six squares which aren't doing what you want. Your only risk of
building too big a mound is if you build it vertically too quickly.
You'll want to provide surfaces where you can drop each of the three
colors you aren't using, and you'll also want to use solid squares
extensively to get rid of certain colors. However one thing you won't
want to do is wipe out any non-solid blocks at the bottom.

5-2. BY LEVEL
The ledger should be relatively sensible except for where characters
start as there's no fully logical way to label them with one letter:
h = Hello Kitty
p = Pandaba
z = Badtz-maru
m = Hanamaru
Y/R/G/B = yellow/red/green/blue blocks you can make vanish
y/r/g/b = solid yellow/red/green/blue blocks
X = general solid blocks
1-9 = items and the order you need to take them in on the "hard" level.

This requires a bit more strategy, but note a yellow block will take
care of things pretty easily. Because it causes the green to fall, and
the green hooks up with the others to make the reds fall. Then the reds
will vanish leaving a clear path to #2. For #1 you are better served
with a red block. If you must you can use a blue block and build a
bridge but it's probably easier to wait.

A diagonal piece cah get you the fruit to the right. The one to the
left is a bit tougher as Badtz-Maru will kick it to the side once you
get the first piece in the center. A diagonal piece here can get you to
the first item and another can make the stairs to level 2. If you're
playing hard, then as Hello Kitty goes to get 2, place a diagonal or 1-
piece to get back to #3. Otherwise get 3 then 2.
You can try to trap Hanamaru against one of the solid blocks with a
diagonal piece if you want.

Another easy one. Just run all the way right and left--don't break up
any of the path in front of you or bother with the bricks dropping down.
Badtz-Maru is a total nonfactor, as he doesn't have anything to kick--
he'll just keep falling off ledges.

Getting the middle item is tough. What I recommend is, if red blocks
fall, to put them out to the side. It's best to keep Pandaba and
Hanamaru trapped.
To get #1 you can place a 1x3 block flat or just place a block over 2
to make a stair and fill the hole under 1 with a diagonal piece. Later
you can wipe out the blocks covering 2 and 3.
Eventually you will want to make holes and place stairs--diagonal and
single block--to get to 4 and 5

Here's one that requires a good deal of thought. The object is first
to kill the blues/greens/red(fob the yellows off as below:)

Then you have to dig your way through the green/red/yellow. If you
feel confident you can place a diagonal bridge where the GRY was and
then place something on the way back(using L1/R1 as necessary so Hello
Kitty doesn't fall right) but otherwise once you get past, build a
bridge from the item at the far right off to the left. A few diagonal
piees should do the trick. Keep hitting R1 so Hello Kitty doesn't run
off in the meantime. You may also want to use a couple of diagonal
pieces to create a bridge where the G/R/Y column was. Then you'll need
to do the same at the left edge as you did at the right although if
diagonal red/yellow pieces come down as you walk left you can also place
them between the blue and green solid blocks. The key is to find
diagonal blocks to fill the gaps although blue and green ones can work
if dropped just under the blue/green solid blocks--or on green/blue
blocks respectively. Just don't disturb the bricks in the upper right. A
lot is left to chance here. You'll often have to wait for the right
color, so learn how to discard or neutralize blocks, and don't leave a
block too high up on the playfield or an accident may happen.
One thing you do want to avoid is letting the green squares above #2
drop down--ie putting green squares under them. Then the squares can
fall into the item, making things very tough for you.

Let Hello Kitty run to the right to get the two items. Then drop the
first set of blocks so that she will fall when she turns to the left.
She'll be stunned, but no big deal. As she runs to the left side create
a hole on the right, and she'll drop through to the bottom. You
shouldn't have to drop too many bricks to win here.

Obviously you'll need to create some stairs here. You may want to push
L1 to keep her on the left until you can take stairs all the way up to
the top item. Then you can fall through to get the next one leaving only
a final one. It may also be useful to trap Badtz-Maru in the lower left
before proceeding in order to remove him as a nuisance. It's even
possible to create a ladder to the final item on the right before you
fall.

This is a tricky one but if you manage to get a single block early you
can push Hello Kitty up the stairs to get the center item. You can also
just fall to the bottom and work your way up but in any case you will
need to build a ladder. If you drop down then you'll want to build
stairs to the right and then to the left. You may want to put a wall
left of the center item so that you can just keep pushing left while you
build the stairs to the upper right. Then you can dismember the wall and
create a stair to the upper left and complete the level.

Some tricks here in the first level. Let Hello Kitty run right and
once she's there use a diagonal piece as stairs to reach the first item.
You may not want her to run; try to leave a diagonal piece that can fall
just as soon as she gets the item so she can run back over and climb to
the second item.
From here you will probably want to search for single blocks or
diagonal blocks. You will probably have to move Hello Kitty back and
forth with L1/R1 from the first item to the second and keep half an eye
on her while deciding what to do. Make sure she never starts running.
Eventually you should be able to get a diagonal staircase that moves up
to the final item although you may have to keep her on the right edge
before placing anything.
Badtz-Maru and Pandaba are easy to trap if you want to, but you don't
need to.
On the hard level you have to go all the way up to get to the second
one before polishing off the third. This should not be a problem if you
just don't drop too many pieces.

This actually seems less difficult than the first level. The easy way
to do this is to create holes where you can drop down to the next level.
If you're really unimaginative you can just dump everything off to the
left except for greens, which you can use to take out the edge and then
drop to the left and run right, and repeat. Of course to save time you
can fall off the final greens on the left. But it may be more expedient
to destroy each ledge when you're on it. Sometimes you'll have to
demolish the one above it so cubes will fit in where you want them.
It's also possible to fall off the third-highest ledge and then make
stairs to the second-highest and then destroy those stairs later. Just
be sure you don't fall off right away and have to build extra high
stairs. Tapping R1 a lot works here and you don't really have to keep
track of what Hello Kitty's doing until you make her fall to the ledge
with the next item.
For the hard scene: let Hello Kitty run left and get stunned. Then she
can run right to get #1. Use a single square to make stairs to the
second level. Getting to 3 and 4 is trickier. One way is to get to 4,
demolish everything on the right, and then get to

Red's good if Hello Kitty and Badtz-Maru are pinned to one side, and
blue is OK as you can fall from a stair into the item if you plan it
right.
In any case you'll still have to blast through the bottom and after
getting the first item you will either want to use blue blocks on the
lower corners or chip away with other colors. You'll definitely want to
fall onto one of the items suspended to the side so yellows are useful
for that.
For the other item you'll need to destroy the cubes around it so you
can build stairs up to it, and for the item in the bottom center it's
not tough to find a single square to place under it.
For the hard level you obviously need to fall to the left, and you'll
probably want to excavate the right side later and build stairs under 4.
Letting a block of one slide in under 3 should work too. Badtz-Maru is
worth trapping when you get a piece(esp. 2x2) you can't really use.
(Hello Kitty with a rather bad suntan on a sailboat shows if you get by
this.)

Without Badtz-Maru this would be very straightforward. He kicks blocks
after you get soccer balls, and they disrupt the infrastructure so to
speak. But fortunately he disappears much later.
Work from top to bottom. If a red or yellow falls move to the right
before taking them out. If a green or blue falls, also run Hello Kitty
right and place it so Hello Kitty can drop onto the top soccer ball. You
may have to build a bridge back over to the other side at some point

That soccer ball way up there is the tough one but you'll need ladders
to get to all three. It may be a good idea to set up ladders from left
to right beforehand. Just trap Hello Kitty off to the left (L1) before
you build the final ladders and you can possibly just run up to the top.
Hanamaru and Badtz-MAru head off to the left and you can use a diagonal
piece to block them off. You will want to dissolve the blocks on the
right until a diagonal one fits nicely down to create a stair--remember
you can also fall onto the item, so you can just leave the second-left
column and use the far left as a place to dump bricks.
The key thing here to survive though is to avoid matching three same-
colored blocks on the bottom--then Hello Kitty may fall through and die.

You're probably best off taking care if one side at a time. Note that
although Badtz-Maru will kick down either a red or blue block after you
go to the left(where you can just walk in) you can still get around. My
preference is to let him kick whatever he needs when he's running left
which causes a bit of a wait. Hello Kitty will be trapped and that's
actually a good thing. You can then build a bridge to go right and then
double back over some stairs to get the soccer ball above. Then you can
run to the right and pick off what's over there. I recommend going for
the top one first and if you have a blue block ready to drop right after
you can fall onto the lower one. This would seem to make you use the
very top solid platform as a means of crossing--during which you can
fill the valley to the right as you wish.

At the beginning you may need to shuttle back and forth until a
diagonal piece or two comes up. Falling either way makes it very
inconvenient to get back to the top. On easy though you can clear out 3
and 4 at first and then just get stairs to 2 and 1 and fall into 5.
For the hard level it's a bit tougher to get around but you want to
use diagonal pieces to build bridges to get 1. Then hopefully you have
the stairs positioned right to run over to 3 quickly. Note that Badtz-
Maru falls right and it's a good idea to trap him inside on hard; he
won't cause many chain reactions fortunately. When you get #3 you can
then take out the blues and run into 4. But you may want to have a
single block to build the bridge back over to the right, and you may
have to dig out 5.

You'll probably get the items in the same order regardless what level
you play. Obviously clearing out the greens takes top priority but do
try to keep Badtz-Maru chained. There's a place to kill off all colored
bricks and you will probably want to move Hello Kitty onto the reds so
that you can get rid of the blues and build stairs to 3 and 4 if a green
takes too long to come down. Just run Hello Kitty to the right; she can
step on Hanamaru with no problem.
Once Hello Kitty gets 1, just wait for another green and have her fall
into 2 when you dissolved that area. From there you seem to need just
need a single block on each side to get through 3 and 4, but unless you
are lucky you can get the items when Badtz-Maru is facing left and his
kicking will be ineffective, Badtz-Maru will have pushed a few locks
towards the edge and you'll need a few diagonal blocks to make passage.
Also beware of Badtz-Maru running towards you as you get 3; he may
create a gap to your right requiring you to push L1 constantly.

Obviously on hard you can't duck to the right and pick up an item but
in any case you'll need to build a stair to 1, your first priority, and
once you drop into 2 you'll want to maintain the bridge(on hard) or
break it up so Hello Kitty falls onto 4(on easy/normal, assuming your
first move was to the right.) You may want to hide out on the right in
hard anyway just so you don't fall into 4. Badtz-Maru isn't going to
cause any chain reactions with his fits, but he may stand on top of item
4 for a bit so you may want to wait to fall.

You'll probably have to destroy and rebuild here. There's a good deal
of waiting around for greeen and blue blocks. The main thing to do is to
avoid taking out any blocks on the bottom. Diagonal greens are most
valuable here, and you'll want in any case to take out the greens so
that you can concentrate on the blues below. Reds and yellows(single
piece) are valuable so you don't have to destroy the greens near the
bottom. Hello Kitty should fall to the left and move to the left edge
and keep running into the wall.
Unfortunately there may be a good deal of waiting around for the right
piece but fortunately Badtz-Maru has very little to kick on this level.

On easy, once you get a blue item and a green one, just fall to the
center and Badtz-Maru will kick to the left when you get the item. Some
waiting if you fall on top of him may be required. This allows easy
access to another item. Walk over him.
The hard level requires a bit more thought. Hello Kitty is trapped.
You'll want to position blocks so that she can't fall out and so when
you get her out of her original trap, she can walk left to pick up item
#1. So some red and yellow pieces can go to the center. You'll probably
need to destroy both sides although a kick from Badtz-Maru to the right
can help matters immensely--if he kicks to the left you may fall too far
down.. You'll probably have time to build stairs up from 4 to 3--just
remember to turn around quickly when you get to 3 and you can probably
run left and complete the level.

The first order of business is to make stairs up to the hole where you
must fall down. Any single or diagonal non-blue piece should work if
Hello Kitty's on the left. If you get a bunch of junk, just dump it off
to the right. You'll never go there anyway. Just try not to make
anything at the bottom vanish there; as things are Badtz-Maru's anger
won't result in any blocks getting moved.
For the final two items you're best off running over the bad guys and
climbing them although if you get a single block you can also drop it
down the well and pick up the other hearts more conventionally. I find
it fun to be able to walk over one bad guy from right to left. It's an
elegant way to get both items without worrying about blocks, although
you may have to bounce back and forth a bit.
Hard mode would be much nastier if you couldn't fall through to 1 but
as it is the two hearts on the bottom are equally easy to get with a
singly block.

Hard mode is about the same as regular mode as the given order on hard
is not inconvenient. They could've been really annoying if they'd wanted
to but here you just need the standard single block (which you can fall
off) to get #1. #2 may be a tougher proposition although once you zap
the reds and yellows you may be able to walk over Pandaba and Hana-Maru
without having to worry about blocks.
With blocks on the right cleared out it shouldn't be hard to get #3.
You may need one single block to form a full stair, but hopefully Badtz-
Maru will have kicked to the right. Then you just need to build stairs--
which you can do in advance--to fall on to #4.

Hard and regular require pretty much the same order although you have
a bit of a choice where to fall on easy/normal.
In either case push Hello Kitty against the left side until a diagonal
piece(non green) comes up and use it so she can climb up it and get the
first item. Green diagonals can be used on the far right to send Badtz-
Maru and Pandaba down where they won't be able to kick pieces for a
while. You can probably corner Badtz-Maru before or after you drill
through so that Hello Kitty falls onto 3, and it shouldn't be too hard
to build a ladder that takes out 4 and 5-you may have to fall right to
get 4 and then go back up for 5.

Looks like a mess, but remember--1)never knock any original blocks out
and 2)there is a relatively quick way through. You'll want to put blocks
that you can't expressly use on top of solid blocks when it won't kill
your game off--try to leave the area very close to 4/5 untainted. The
first one you can use is a 1-piece block to bring you over to the area
with 2. Then you can build stairs and move Hello Kitty back and forth
until you get up to 3. Here if you don't want to worry about moving her
you can use the space above 1 to build a smoother stair. You'll also
want to clear the area by 4 and 5 and leave a 1-block for after Hello
Kitty falls right from 3(once she does you can do with the 1/2 area as
you will waiting for the right piece/s.)
Hard isn't much worse than easy except you just have to come back from

This will allow you to get right and then fall left to get 4 and later
(after putting something under where 4 was) climb up the stairs. 1 is at
the top and by now you should have placed a diagonal piece over the UL
yellow stair so you don't fall through. Then you can dissolve the very
UL yellow piece and fall onto 2.
Through this you'll want to watch Badtz-Maru and try to get an item
when his run will push him into a wall or when he's outright stuck in a
corner. Because if he disrupts a stair, you may need to smart-place a
piece to reconstruct it, or just destroy all the stairs and start from
scratch. In fact this is a general danger of the level; if things get
off track you need to rely on your stair-building skill which should be
pretty good by now, but why not try for the quickest solution?
On hard mode you can actually use the same strategy. The only problem
is that you'll have to loop around again to get 3 and 4. 3 should not be
a problem. But for 4 you may have to destroy and repair blocks.

Now on easy level it's easy to get 4 by constructing a bunch of
ladders. Then you fall onto 1 or 3(here it may be useful to allow Hello
Kitty to drop on a falling block, although you can also put a diagonal
on the edge of a block and a 1-by-1 square next to it so Hello Kitty can
climb,) drop in to get 2(smart-place a yellow to get into the bottom
area, then put another in to get out) and then build a stair on the
solid yellows and then with Hello Kitty trapped in the middle of the X,
drop a bunch of blocks so she can walk onto 3--don't worry about her
falling.
For the hard level you can proceed pretty much as above(going 1->2->3-
-in fact you can get 1 right away using a falling block) but you won't
want to fall after getting #3. You'll want to take out the upper right
part of the X and only then can you make a stair up to #4 --you may want
to place a diagonal brick on top of the X(UL part) and have Hello Kitty
run into it as she can't fall off--then construct the stair back right.
Ending:
Hello Kitty relaxes under a waterfall. Snow is pouring down. The weird
black blimp stops spewing snow and starts smoking and falls into a
volcano which explodes. Hello Kitty blinks South Park like as she

The important thing here is to try to preserve each of the four levels

annoyance may be that Badtz-Maru can collapse the column to the left

On easy or medium you can just work down and use a green to get from
ledge 5 to ledge 8. Then you can rebuild stairs to 2 at the top, L1/R1
and fall on the right, and fall onto 9 from the top of some other
stairs.
For hard, it's more important to keep the structure up and have Hello
Kitty run back and forth. Build a bridge over 9 quickly but don't forget
to duck in for 1. Should be easy to drop onto 3 and take the stairs back
to 4--a green/blue will drop you through.
Don't worry about building a bridge that covers 9. It is probably
necessary once you get to 6, destroy the green and blue(in general you
can destroy one level once you've gotten the items on it) and use the
stairs to get back over--as in the previous scene you can use 1x3 and
diagonal pieces to fill in the hole that occurs at the bottom. Just when
you get to 7 you'll need to keep hitting R1 if you don't have everything
in place yet.
(win this: Hello Kitty with thh two of them)

(very opening sounds like George Michael's "faith" but it breaks off
into country violin music)
(called bad Badtzmaru in opening screen, tic tac toe screen behind him)

Getting the middle item is tricky. Before hard mode you can get the
two on the sides and then drop through to get it but you need to take a
different tack otherwise. However in either case you can just demolish
the top of the left side with green and blue bricks(use the right for
yellow/red) and then use a piece to climb on top and get 1 before going
on. With easy/normal you can build a bridge to 3 and get it similarly to
1 before following the procedure for 2 below. Otherwise you'll want to
get 2 which requires a clear path down the center or exact placement and
will need to build a big stair to 3.
In fact on hard with #2 not being the last one you can't drop in on
it. You'll need to be crafty to get rid of it. Here's the solution:
place a single yellow under the solid yellow brick on the left--or place
a diagonal with pieces to the left and below--or drop a 1x3 with yellow
in it through the center and, just below the center, push O to rotate
clockwise. You may need another yellow piece to get the square to sink,
but the big thing is getting something under.
Once Hello Kitty gets the first brick there will be some tense moments
placing stuff at the bottom. Run her to the left and be prepared to hit
L1/R1 etc. a lot while waiting for the right pieces to come down--
anything but a single should work actually, but you may have to steer
the pieces in a bit. Lay a 1x3 flat.
Once you've dropped one of the solid bricks to the side, you'll want
to make sure there's something under the #2(a diagonal piece can place
one cube, and just wipe out the diagonal's other cube separately) and
then be extra sure Badtz-Maru can't kick anything so you fall in. Of
course along the way you can create a stair on the other side.

The hard level isn't much different from the easy level although you
can't go to get 4/9 right away and you can't wind down through the maze
on the right to get the last four. You first have to build a stair going
UL to get 4. Then you have to destroy the right slowly but surely and
take out 5 and 6, then build a stair to 9(you'll probably have to remove
the first stair you made, or a part of it, to cover the hole you can
fall into) and then go UR to 8 and then fall back down to 9.
Place any square DL of 3 so that you can fall on it. Put a square
right of there so you climb up when you get to the right. Don't worry
about rushing through the course until you do this although it is
helpful if Badtz-Maru is facing to the left when you do things. He can
push things so that there's a gap between getting 6 and 7--in which case
you'll need to use the R1 key a lot after getting 5. The rest involves a
lot of building up and destroying stairs. You have to be extra careful
here of not falling off as the indicated path gets you through pretty
quickly, but if you fall from, say, 8 to the right, it is a long way
back up.
The gaps on the left and right are great for stuffing unwanted pieces
as you may need to just dump other unwanted pieces later once you get
inside 30 seconds--I rarely get past this scene in good time.

This is a worthy and tricky last level. On hard, the first thing to do
is to destroy the "P" and he exclamation mark if possible. You'll want
to put something down to protect the bottom R's on the right. Then you
can use a red set of blocks to wipe out the barrier blocking Hello Kitty
from going to the right.
Getting the first item requires a bit of trickery. Let Hello Kitty sit
on the left after you've wiped out the red blocks. Hanamaru should be at
the bottom, and when he steps on the yellow solid block that dropped
when you zapped the reds, run to the right. You'll climb on top of him
and get the first item. You could also have placed a 1x1 item exactly in
where you needed to, but that would take time.
The rest begins with standard stair-building on the right, but the
only problem may be that you will want to make sure you don't wipe out
any one side. Even after you're done with the right for getting items,
you'll still want to have it around so that you can drop excess items
there--and you may want to come back around through the blue blocks and
up the stairs to get 6 as it may be easier that way.
After getting 3 you'll want to run back and forth until you have a
sort of stair leading down from 5 to 4(this can be done in advance if
you break the H and E down waiting for the best pieces on the right; you
can fill up the bottom two levels as you please. This can make the level
a straight shot.) Now it's possible a bad guy may be trapped there or
that you may fall in the area. In that case you may need to use a
similar strategy to get the blue wall to what you did for your initial
release.

Thanks to falsehead especially for telling me I didn't just yet know I
