0.) Introduction
----------------------------------------
Hello Everyone. JagDogger2525 here. It has been a while since I last made a
guide for any game. Since I was replaying a couple of these games, I decided
that no one made a guide that actually helps with proper field technique. Here
this is. The Field Guide. Not about crops, not about making money, not about
'farming' (which includes animals). Just a wholehearted guide to a proper
field and how to properly make full usage of the field.

The only two tips I am going to give about crops is that Fall, Sweet Potatoes,
and Carrots are your biggest friends and make sure you upgrade your Watering Can
and Rucksack as early as possible

The solution I will show you will yield you the best bang for your buck and
allow you to not only sell 100 of each crop fast, but also set you up for the
rest of the game so you could plant that Pineapple on Day 1 in Year 2 of Summer.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1.) Version History
----------------------------------------
Feb 04, 2020 - 0.99 - Guide was made, Sections Added, Main Content Filled in
Guide finished, Field Layout and Notes needed a rewording,
Found a way to saved 4,500G in Grass

Feb 04, 2020 - 1.00 - Section 3 and 5 finished, Ran guide through spell-checker,
                     Guide finished and uploaded

Feb 26, 2020 - 1.01 - Found an error in my name and found out through a second
run, that you could save 2,000G in Grass in crops.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.) Field Basis & Costs
----------------------------------------
You start out with a messy field left by an old man (some are presumed as your
grandfather). Once the field is cleared, There should be a few things that
should be covered.

--------------------
a. Field Dimensions
--------------------
Across: 43
Down: 25
(From here on out, 'x' by 'y' will be 'Across' by 'Down')

--------------------
b. Starting Out
--------------------
Some farmers use the 'Fat C' and 'Square' methods to start out and that is what
is recommended for those who are starting out but for the farmers looking for
something a bit better and/or challenging and do not want to continue the 'Fat
C' or 'Square' methods.

c. Grass: Important for Livestock (Cows and Sheep)
--------------------
You are going to need a lot of grass if you are going to keep up with the needs
of your livestock and get to that coveted P and X class products that they
produce (this also goes for Chickens).

To prepare you for the entire Grass Total, you are going to needs 103 bags of
Grass. Since each bag costs 500G, you are going to need to accrue a mass total
of 51,500G. Granted, it doesn't need to be at the same time but majority of the
total is solely on making a fenced area to make sure that the livestock have a
safe place to eat, be happy, and help make sure to accumulate the 600+ hours
of time outside for the P and X class products.

--------------------
d. Crops: Important to pay for more Crops and aforementioned Grass
--------------------
The renewable crops are going to be the most important factor in making sure
that your field stays healthy. During the Summer and Winter months, there are
going to be a couple days where you will encounter a storm-like day where you
would have to stay inside of your house and not worry about your field. There
are going to be rocks and twigs flown onto your field and potentially ruin your
hard earned field. Making sure that you have a healthy paycheck to cover the
damages, then you would be fine. The non-renewable crops are also key as they
are able to supplement the renewable crops. The biggest factor in Year One (1)
is Fall and shipping out Carrots and Sweet Potatoes. Follow this guide and you
might just end up setting yourself up for the rest of the game. If done
correctly, a good plantation of Sweets and Carrots will yield about 95,000G+.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

3.) Field Layout
----------------------------------------
a. Field
--------------------
Each Section will have a Bag and Cost. This is the number of Grass Bags and cost
of Grass for that Area. To make things a bit easier on the eyes, columns will be
labeled as 'a' and rows as 'd'
a = across
d = down

The way I am going to mention tiles, think of a Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet.
1a1d would be cell A1 with 43a25d would be cell AQ25

Since the field is 43a by 25d, we have to split the field into 2 sides.

The Fenced Area, for livestock, and the Crop Area, to keep the Fenced Area, and
the rest of the farm, going.

Both areas will be split down the middle at the 19a tile

The left side of the field is 18a by 25d that is dedicated to crops
The right side of the field is 24a by 25d that is dedicated to a fenced grass
area for livestock.

--------------------
b. Fenced Area
--------------------
Bags: 65
Cost: 32,500G (32,000G if given a free bag of grass)
Total Tiles: 531
Fence Pieces: 94 pieces

The fence can be anything from stone to twigs to [golden] lumber to even more
crops but make sure you have 2-3 pieces of stone or lumber for the entrance of
the crop fence so it would be hard for wild dogs to come and kill/torture your
livestock.

----------
I) Description
----------

There's not too much to say about this area because even though it is initially
expensive to plant but it is the easiest to take care of and all it is tilling
the land with the hoe, planting grass, and just leaving it be. That's it.

The main thing about the Fenced Area is to make sure you let the grass grow to
full length and use the Sickle to whack the grass down before getting any
non-Chicken Livestock.

A tip would be to have the Mystrile Sickle for optimal reaping/cutting of the
grass. To know how to get the Mystrile Sickle, see the Notes section down below.

----------
II) Field
----------
To have a proper grass field, we would be starting on the right side of the
field.

Starting in the upper right corner:
- Till a single tile

- Going diagonally down and left, till 22 Tiles going left (3 Mystrile Strikes,
1 Silver Strike, 1 Quick Strike)
- From that last tile, till 22 Tiles going down (3 Mystrile Strikes, 1 Silver
    Strike, 1 Quick Strike)
- From that last tile, till 21 Tiles going right (3 Mystrile Strikes, 1 Silver
    Strike)
- From that last tile, till 20 Tiles going up (3 Mystrile Strikes, 1 Copper
    Strike)
- From this position, the basic layout of the outmost grass.

For the leftmost side, place a piece of lumber or stone next to one tile and
then till a line of 25 tiles going up and down on the opposite side of the piece
you put down away from the square you created.

Once that is done, plant grass while in the middle untilled line. This should
take care of the single line of grass on both sides of the fence.

If you have all the seeds and Stamina with nothing else that needs to be watered
or taken care of, I would recommend to till and plant the seeds on and inside
the square created (leaving out the single tile in the upper rightmost corner of
the field created earlier).

--------------------
c. Crop Area
--------------------
Bags: 34
Cost: 17,000G
Total Tiles: 450
Grass Tiles: 98
Usable Tiles: 352

The Usable Tiles is where the crops will have a home to grow whereas the Grass
Tiles are the pathways to allow you to pick the renewable resources that will be
in the 2/3 'Long Fat C' outsides of the Usable Tiles as well as water the inside
1/3rd plantation.

----------
I) Description
----------
This area would house the renewable crops (after getting settled into
rebuying renewable crops but initially, it would/should be Turnips and/or
Potatoes in Spring Year 1).

There are two main sections, Renewable Resources and Non-Renewable Resources

The first is for renewable resources such as Cucumbers, Tomatoes, Corn,
Pineapples, and Sweet Potatoes (BIG must on Pineapples and Sweet Potatoes).
The second is for non-renewable resources - Turnips, Potatoes, Carrots (BIG must
    on Carrots)

----------
II) Field
----------
To have a proper Crop Area, we would be starting on the left side of the field.

Starting in the upper leftmost corner ( closest to the shipment bin):
- Create a line of 2 by 12
- Till a single tile at the first tile on 3a
- Create another line of 2 by 12 on 4a/5a
- Till another single tile at the first tile on 6a
- Once you plant grass in 2d-9d of 3a and 6a, there will be a second tile at
    3a12d and 6a12d

There is going to be a big plantation to be tilled here, but ONLY AFTER
you acquire the Mystrile Watering Can, which, if everything is done correctly,
is able to get in the Summer.

The next section is a Non-Renewable plantation (or Renewable in SoS:FoMT) that
would be 6a by 12d and should be taken care of in 4 Mystrile Swings and a Silver
Swing of the Mystrile Watering Can. There is nothing else to mention about to
use 12 Mystrile How Swings to get the plantation set.

The next section will be exactly the first section, reversed. One tile at the
top (should be 13a by this point), then 14a/15a should be 2 by 12, then
another tile at top (16a), and then finish it off with 17a/18a being the fourth
2 by 12.

After planting some grass in 1a-18a along 13d, the crop side of the field should
be split in half.

What to do with the second half of the field? Repeat exactly what you just did
with the top half but start at 14d

At this point, after tilling all of the field, you have found the Power
Berry (one of 10). This would then pose the question of how to harvest all of
the crops within a good amount of time. That is where the Harvest Sprites come
in and help but I would highly recommend that you go to another guide because
that is going into another realm as they also do Animal Husbandry.

5.) Notes
----------------------------------------

With the Story of Seasons: Friends of Mineral Town, the grass really isn't
needed because unlike all the other previous installments, you are able to do
the 'Square' method and get into the middle tile rendering the grass ALMOST
useless but not entirely because there is the ability to have chickens go in the
grass pathway and still be contained.

To properly get the Mystrile Water Can, make sure that the Watering can isn't
already upgraded, you have it at the Silver Level, and 2000 Gold, mine a single
Silver Ore (should just be on the first floor of the Spring Mine [by the Hot Tub
which is South of the Farm and then up the ramp on the left] when you use the
Hammer on the rocks), and when the weather channel says it is going to rain and
the current day is not Thursday with the current time not past 4PM, go to
Saibara's and have him make it into the silver Watering Can. Then for the
Mystrile Level, make sure you go to level 6 of the Spring Mine and use the Hoe
and Hammer to work your way down. Make sure you find a Blue piece and give it
and 5000G to Saibara (MAKING SURE that you repeat the process about it raining
the next day, not past 4PM, and not Thursday on the current day).

For the other tools, make sure you upgrade them to Silver first and then
Mystrile because it'll save 4,000G and since it takes 2 days and Saibara isn't
open on Thursdays, you'll have your tool back on Friday if sent in on Wednesday.

--------------------
a. Planting Seeds
--------------------
To properly plant seeds, the 'S' in the middle diagram shows the spot you should
'use' the seeds to maximize profits and minimize losses:

xxx
xSx
xxx

--------------------
b. Small Fun Fact
--------------------
If you multiply 43 and 25, you will get 1075
If you add Total Crop Tiles, Total Grass Tiles, and Fence Tiles, you get 1075

This statistic means that the whole field is put to good use.
