PN01 - Preface
********************************************************************************
Thank you for visiting my guide. I hope that this guide will help you in
playing the game with additional restrictions.
When I was kid, my uncle bought a playstation for me, and he also brought some
games that came as bonus when he bought the console from the game store.
The first game he showed to me was the first Gran Turismo, and since then I
love Gran Turismo series. A few years later, Gran Turismo 2 was launched, and
of course I didn't miss it. At the time, I played this game without using any
guide, so I replayed many races over and over to collect a lot of money, then I
bought many cars and upgraded them to the max. I even repeated those endurance
races to acquire every prize cars.
Now, getting inspired by my Minimal Buys guide for Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec, I
decided to apply the same challenge for this game. I know that this game is
really obscure, so there won't be many players who play this game, but I love
Gran Turismo games, and that's the sole reason.
I created this guide based on the NTSC-J version of the game. When I was kid,
I also played the Japanese version of both Gran Turismo and Gran Turismo 2, but
my friend played the North American version. Personally, I liked Japanese's
soundtracks over North America's soundtracks. For somewhat reason I disliked
North American's soundtracks, and at that time I didn't have my own music
player, so I always played this game while hearing its music. Later I also knew
that the original North American verison contained some glitches, even though
it had been fixed later. However, I still stick to NTSC-J version, the same
version that I played years ago. Since I played the NTSC-J version, you will
find some differences, especially about number conversions, but I will give the
setup I used to race, so you can try with the same setup and clear it in the
North American version.
********************************************************************************
PN02 - The Rules
********************************************************************************
There are some rules that must be followed in the guide.
* Minimal Buys
This is the main rule. You can't buy any car until you can't progress through
the game anymore. Yeah, you won't drive Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version until
you can't progress anymore without buying cars.
* (Optional) No Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version
If you haven't played this game before, Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version is the
main car of the game. Without obtaining any license, actually you can enter
the first 2 races repeat them over and over until you have enough money to buy
this car. The second race gives 600,000 Cr so you need to repeat about 333
times to collect 200,000,000 Cr. Once you've bought it, you will have the
strongest cars before even obtaining any license, and this car will ruin the
game. It's not a challenge anymore.
Without buying this car, you can still win most races because the opponent
never drive this car. However, you must buy it to clear the last 2 races in
Dirt Event. Unfortunately your fastest prize car can't install Dirt Tires, so
you have no other way to clear both races except by this car. This is the only
exception of this rule. Other than that, it's forbidden.
* (Optional) One-Time Race
You can't repeat a race that you have cleared before. Unfortunately you have to
repeat the whole series if you want a certain prize car, but you only need to
do this for a few cups.
Halfway through the game, if you don't follow the same path as this guide,
you'll need some money to clear all manufacturer races, so you probably
have to break this rule to collect the money. In the end I can still finish
this challenge without repeating any race, but I have to conserve my money by
buying only the necessary upgrades, as explained below.
* (Optional) Minimal Upgrades
You only upgrade the car when necessary, and you only install some required
parts to clear the races. This rule gives a challenge in some races, especially
when you drive a stock car and you need to compete against identical cars. In
this guide I will mention whichever upgrade and tuning I've done. I'm not an
expert driver, so you can lower the requirement even more to raise the
difficulty.
* (Optional) No Sell
You can't sell any car even if you have duplicate cars. Unfortunately, since
your garage can only hold 100 cars, you will be forced to sell some cars in
order to finish some maufacturer races later. That's when I make another
exception of this rule.
********************************************************************************
PN03 - The Goals
********************************************************************************
When playing this game, I also want to achieve these goals. It's just a
personal achievement.
* 100% Completion
If you play the original version of this game, it only has 98.2% as the maximum
percentage. When I was kid, I also had reached 98.2% and can't progress
anymore. Obtaining all Golds in License Test should be the true challenge.
However, since it doesn't count toward the completion percentage, you can
ignore it.
* Unique Cars
You shouldn't have 2 identical cars in the garage whenever possible. There are
2 times when you acquire the copies, and those are the only exception. This
goal is quite easy, as in the series all random prize cars are different from
each other.
********************************************************************************
PN04 - The Tricks
********************************************************************************
Tricks are not considered as cheats. They don't help you to attain instant win,
acquire all cars, max money, all gold license tests, or anything that breaks
the game.
* Scroll Your Garage
Press the left button to scroll up, and press the right button to scroll down.
I know it's really dumb, but when I was kid, I played this game without reading
any guide, so I had to press the up and down buttons to navigate through.
I knew this trick after having read the guide.
* Sort Your Garage
Highlight a car in the list (it doesn't have to be selected), then press
the start button to move its position to be the first car in the list. If you
have made your plan, you can "sort" the cars by pressing the start button as
you follow the plan. Personally, I always sort my garage by "Power" in
descending order for all frequently-used cars, so I can select whichever cars
that I need quicker. The rest of the cars don't necessarily to be sorted, but I
also sort them.
********************************************************************************
PN05 - The Preparation
********************************************************************************
There are some notes before starting the guide
* The game has 2 discs: "Arcade Mode" and "Simulation Mode" disc. In the
guide, I only focus on "Simulation Mode" disc and ignore "Arcade Mode" disc
completely. Clearing "Arcade Mode" doesn't count toward "Simulation Mode"'s
completion percentage, so I ignore it.
* I'm not the person who follow the roads. Sometimes I cut through grass,
perform wall-rides, hit opponents' cars while cornering, and many more. If you
are a purist, all of those are probably considered cheating.
* Actually there are many glitches all over the tracks, mainly about shortcuts
to finish the race faster. I'm not covering any of the glitches, found in the
game. You can read another guide to learn those. Even after having reached 100%
Completion, I didn't use any of the glitches, and I didn't care about those.
* I will always keep track of the acquired cars in the game. Your garage can
only contain 100 cars, and you will acquire more than 100 cars, so later you
are forced to sell several cars. I will mention all cars that I'll sell when
the time comes.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
* Since different regions have different measures, you need to apply some
number conversions. I played the NTSC-J version of the game. If you played any
different versions then:
- All money in the guide must be divided by 100. For example, 300,000 Cr
becomes 3,000 Cr, 500,000 Cr becomes 5,000 Cr, and so on.
- The power measurement (ps) must be multiplied by about 0.986 to become
horse-power measurement (hp). For example, 100ps becomes 98hp, 200ps becomes
197hp, and so on. You shouldn't need to worry about it, as both cars' power and
races' restriction power will be converted, thus negating each other.
- Some events have slightly different names. In order to resolve it, I'll also
mention the name of the tracks, which shouldn't have any different names, so
you will know which race that I'll participate next.
- Unfortunately some cars also have different names. If the car is acquired by
winning a race, you can check its corresponding race. If the car is bought
from any manufactures, I'll show in what page and position I buy it. However,
if it's a second-hand car, I can only give the approximated cost when I buy it,
so you can wait until the car appears in the cost's range before buying it.
Please remember about the number conversion above.
********************************************************************************
CH01 - Start of Simulation Mode
********************************************************************************
After starting a new game, go to License Center, where you need to acquire B
License with ALL GOLDS, then you will acquire Honda Spoon S2000 as prize. Yeah,
this is a minimal buys guide, so you can't buy any cars whenever possible.
Getting all golds is quite challenging, but you must do it to clear the rest of
the challenge.
********************************************************************************
SQ01 - Obtainable Cars Before Starting Any Race
********************************************************************************
Before starting any race, you can actually win several cars in License Tests.
Here is the list:
* Achieve all Golds in B License : Honda Spoon S2000
* Achieve all Golds in A License : Dodge Concept Car
* Achieve all Golds in IC License : [R]Toyota GTO LM Edition
* Achieve all Golds in IB License : [R]Honda CR-X del Sol LM Edition
* Achieve all Golds in IA License : [R]Mitsubishi FTO LM Edition
* Achieve all Golds in S License : [R]Toyota GT-ONE(TS020) Race Car '99
If you have played the first Gran Turismo, you have known that Mitsubishi FTO
LM Edition is arguably one of the best 4WD cars in the game. Now it's quite
difficult to acquire, so I can't confirm whether it's the same car or not. This
car is also the only eligible car to be driven in Dirt Event races without
spending any cash.
However, obtaining all golds in License Tests is NOT NECESSARY because it's not
counted toward the completion percentage. In this guide you only need to
achieve all golds for B License to acquire the first car, then you can achieve
whatever you want for the rest of the licenses. This result was what I got
after having pushed myself:
* B License : All golds
* A License : All golds
* IC License : Golds for IC1, IC2, then silvers for the rest
* IB License : All silvers
* IA License : Gold for IA1, silvers for IA4, IA5, IA6, then bronzes for the
rest
* S License : Silver for S1, then bronzes for the rest
I believe I could achieve some silvers in IA License, but fairly long time made
me think twice to repeat those tests. S License contains full course tracks
which are very hard to achieve even one gold, so bronzes were enough for me.
Obtainable Cars : 6
Total Obtainable Cars : 6
Completion Percentage : 0%
Total Completion Percentage : 0%
********************************************************************************
I want to take whichever race I want, so I collect all licenses at this point.
However, S License is only required for a championship which will be done way
later in the game, so you can ignore it for now. Your objective is to achieve
all golds for B License, then at least all bronzes until you obtain IA License.
I prefer to unlock the necessary cars as fast as possible, so in the next
section I'll collect all of them. The rest of the races will be done by driving
the recommended cars later.
* Remember that you can sort your garage in order to have quicker access to
your cars. See PN04 - The Tricks for details.
********************************************************************************
CH02 - Essential Cars
********************************************************************************
In this chapter, I focused on getting the Essential Cars, which are required
to compete in races with their respective power or limited cars' restriction.
There are only a few races that give better prize cars than their power
restriction, so you will aim at these cars.
With 273ps Honda Spoon S2000, go to Special Events and take the last race
at the 80's Sports Car Cup (Tahiti Road). This race has 400ps power
restriction, but this car still does a great job to win it. Tahiti Road has
many wide tracks so you can race through it without too much braking, and also
there are 2 wallride sections. I admit that I used it; they were very tempting.
If you want a clean race, you can't use them, but that's up to you. On my first
attempt I even spun out twice, but I still won the race with 4 seconds
difference with the second-placed car. Winning this race gives a 563ps
[R]Nissan Silhouette Foumula (R30). Yeah, that's a typo, but who cares.
With 563ps [R]Nissan Silhouette Foumula (R30) you can acquire more cars by
entering races with 600ps power restriction. First, take the last race at the
Grand Touring Car Trophy (Midfield). This race is quite easy because your
opponents don't even drive any Racing cars, so you will absolutely win on
the straight line. Being an FR, this car easily oversteer. If your car touch
over grass or dirt while cornering, tap the throttle to maintain its handling.
On my first attempt, I spun out twice because I didn't tap the throttle, but I
still won the race with 6 seconds difference with the second-placed car.
Winning this race gives a 712ps [R]Nissan Unisia Jecs Skyline. This car is
probably the best prize car you can acquire, and you will drive it in any races
without power restriction. Unfortunately, it can't have dirt tires, so you
can't test it against the true challenge in Dirt Event. I don't understand why
some cars can't use dirt tires even though they are Racing cars with 4WD
drivetrain.
Now enter the third race at the Luxury Sedan Cup (High Speed Ring) to win
298ps Nissan GT-R Autech Version. You shouldn't perform any wallride because
your car easily spins out. Without using any wallride, I can still win with
around 6 seconds difference than the second-placed car. Now enter the third
race at the World Open Car Cup (Trial Mountain) to win 534ps [R]Dodge Concept
Car LM Edition. This time I spun out once but in the end I still won the race
with around 4 seconds difference than the second-placed car.
Now return to Special Events and participate in GT 300 Car Championship. Each
championship has several tracks which must be done in succession, and you have
to win all of them to win the championship. All of your opponents will drive
racing cars, so this cup will be harder than any previous races. You may also
want to practice all of the tracks in Arcade Mode before participating in this
cup. Once you have won it, you have to acquire a 400ps [R]Toyota WedsSport
Celica. If you apply the "One Time Race" rule, you have to get it on your first
attempt, which means you have to restart the cup when you acquire any other
cars. In order to acquire that particular car, I had to reload 3 times. I
used the first attempt to practice the tracks, then retried twice to win the
championship.
Now take your 400ps [R]Toyota WedsSport Celica, then enter the first race at
the Grand Touring Car Trophy (Red Rock Valley) to acquire 419ps [R]Nissan
Daishin Silvia. I won with around 14 seconds difference than the second-placed
car. Jump into your new car, then take the second race at the Pure Sports Car
Cup (Deep Forest) to acquire 187ps Tommykaira ZZ III. I won with around 12
seconds difference than the second-placed car. Jump again into your new car and
take the first race at the World Open Car Cup (Tahiti Road) to acquire 143ps
Mazda Roadster A Spec (NB8C). I won this one with around 3 seconds difference
against the second car. Return to your Honda Spoon S2000 and enter the third
race at the Global Compact Car Cup (Autumn Ring) to acquire 75ps Volkswagen
Lupo 1.4. I won it on my second attempt, and I spun out once, but still managed
to win with less than 1 second against the second-placed car.
Now take your 534ps [R]Dodge Concept Car LM Edition, then enter any race at the
Tuned N.A Car No.1 Cup, as each track has identical randomly prized cars.
Personally, I chose the second race (Grindelwald), and won it with around 10
seconds difference against the second-placed car. In this race, you have to
acquire 263ps Honda Spoon Integra Type-R. If you apply the "One Time Race"
rule, You have to get it on your first attempt. Since the other 2 tracks
provide the chances to acquire it, you may try those tracks or reload the game.
Personally, I chose to reload, but I was lucky because I got it on my first
attempt.
Now take your 712ps [R]Nissan Unisia Jecs Skyline, then enter any race at the
Tuned Turbo Car No.1 Cup, as each track has identical randomly prized cars.
However, the second track (Test Course) should be easier than the other two. I
won it with around 12 seconds difference than the second-placed car. In this
race, you have to acquire 399ps Nissan Nismo 400R. Once again I chose to reload
because the race can be done in around 3 minutes. In order to acquire that
particular car, I had to reload once, because I acquired Nissan Mine's R33
Skyline on my first attempt.
With all of these prize cars, you have all you need to finish the rest of the
games. Below is the list of what car should be used under power's restriction.
Later, some cars will be upgraded with more better ones, but they should be
enough for now.

|------------|-----------------------------------------------------------------|
* You can actually acquire 200ps Honda Mugen Accord Wagon at the second race of
Wagon Cup. However, this car is much heavier than Tommykaira ZZ III, which has
slightly less power but more than half of Honda Mugen Accord Wagon's weight.
If you can't handle Tommykaira ZZ III properly, you may want to try this car,
as Tommykaira ZZ III doesn't have good braking system.
** 298ps Nissan GT-R Autech Version is only used for 4WD and endurance races.
Most of the time, I stick with 263ps Honda Spoon Integra Type-R because it's
much lighter. Similar reason as Tommykaira ZZ III above.
*** You can actually acquire 348ps Nissan Nismo Stagea 260RS at the third race
of Wagon Cup. However, this car is very heavy and has terrible handling.
**** For 700ps power restriction, you will win many great cars later so you
can choose whichever car you want. But I still mention the recommended car
later.
This marks the end of the chapter. So far I could win those races without doing
any upgrade. If you follow the exact path as me, you will have 37,9 million Cr
at this point. You have to save your money as many as possible because later
you will spend a lot of money to clear all all of the manufacturer races. Since
you have acquired several cars, you can try to organize it. See PN04 - The
Tricks for details. It's the last remainder, and I won't tell it anymore. At
this point my garage looks similar to the list above, but in reverse order.
Here is a recap of what races should be done, what cars should be used, what is
the necessary upgrades and tuning if any, and the prize cars you should acquire
if there are multiple possible prize cars.

CH03 - Clear Gran Turismo Foundation Without Spending Any Cash
********************************************************************************
It's time to clear most of the races without spending any cash. Since there is
a chance that you won't acquire the necessary car to clear any Dirt Event
races, those races will be discussed in the next chapter.
If you want to do some optional objectives, you can collect some better cars to
replace the one you have, as they can win quicker and take less of your real
time. I don't need to provide any strategies since the races can be won
easily.
After doing those races, you can start to win the rest of the races. If any
races have something to be mentioned, I will provide additional notes for them.
Actually you can take the races in any order, but I preferred to clear from the
lowest power restriction. At the end, I had amassed about 450 million Cr. Once
again, save your money as much as possible because you will spend a lot of
money to clear all of the manufacturer races.
Here is a recap of what races should be done, what cars should be used, what is
the necessary upgrades and tuning if any, and the prize cars you should acquire
if there are multiple possible prize cars.

[R]Toyota Celica Rally Car <- the first rally car you can acquire
* It should be your first endurance race. In endurance race your tires'
condition is shown at the right side of the screen. They start with blue,
but as you progress through laps, they will slowly change their color to become
green, yellow, orange, and red, which indicate that the tires gradually lose
their grip, and you may gradually lose the car's handling. In order to prevent
it, you need to enter the pit stop to change your tires. Each track has its own
pit location, and the required times to change your tires will be different.
Since changing tires requires a few seconds, you can gain position if you
change your tires less than your opponents, and vice versa.
About the race itself, your stock car is totally fine. You only need to install
Racing Super Soft Tires and that's it. Most of the acquired racing cars already
have all type of tires except dirt tires, so you can change it just before
starting the race, and of course you don't need to spend any cash. There are 90
laps, and you can pit between 18 laps, so you only need 4 pit stops to finish
the race.
The real reason you need to do this at this point, because hopefully you
acquire [R]Toyota Celica Rally Car as prize. This car is the fastest rally car
which can clear most of Dirt Event races without spending any cash. It also
can be used to clear one of the manufacturer races. If you acquire this car,
that's great, otherwise you always have the option to reload this game. if you
decided to reload the game, clear some other races first before taking another
attempt at this one. Personally, I didn't have patience to do 90 laps
repeatedly, so I just accepted whatever prize car it gave. As in my case, I
acquired [R]Mitsubishi GTO LM Edition '99, so I had to look for another way
later.
The updated list will be like this:

III is lighter but doesn't have good braking system. Toyota Tom's T020 is
faster but doesn't have good handling.
** Alternatively, you can acquire Subaru Impreza Wagon WRX STi Version V from
the first race at the Wagon Cup (Rome Short Course). This car has less power
but slightly lighter. Since Nissan GT-R Autech Version already has good
handling system, I don't have problem with it.
*** If you don't acquire this car, don't worry about it. There are another ways
to clear Dirt Event races later.
With the updated list above, let's clear all of the possible races.

position. The second time I need to pit was at lap 20, and then I finished the
race with 1 lap difference than the second-placed car.
You may try with Honda Spoon S2000 or Honda Spoon Integra Type-R, but I believe
that all tires on 4WD cars are degraded at the same time rather than FF or FR
cars, thus giving slightly better handling.

Well, that's all the races with power restriction. The rests of the races are
the ones without power restrictions. If you don't want to follow "No Suzuki

* All races in Event Synthetizer are divided by difficulty, and they always
generate any random tracks. All of your opponents are selected based on your
car's power. For example, if you select 75ps Volkswagen Lupo 1.4, all of your
opponents will have about 75 ps. However, you can't trick the system by
uninstalling all upgrades, entering the race, and then reinstalling all of
them. This race also has its own power restriction when you start the race.
In these events you will start to see the reverse courses of the original
tracks, which are probably harder if you never learn it before. However, if
your car is still better than any of your opponents, you won't face any problem
here.
Easy, Medium, and Hard events only consists of 1 race with 500k, 800k, and 1
million Cr as prize respectively. However, Expert event apply the same
championship rule, so you need to win most of the races to win this event.
There are 5 races, you collect 1 million Cr each time you win, and then
additional 5 million Cr as championship winner.
This event also doesn't have any visual cup logo if you have cleared each
level, so you have to keep track of which races that have been cleared or not.
Personally, I cleared all of these events in one sit so that I didn't
accidentally trigger any of the cleared levels.

CH04 - Possible Dirt Event
********************************************************************************
In order to clear all possible races without spending any cash, you only have 2
options:
* [R]Mitsubishi FTO LM Edition can be acquired by achieving all golds at IA
License. This task is very hard, and you are unlikely to be able to do it.
* [R]Toyota Celica Rally Car can be acquired from Laguna Seca 200miles
Endurance. You have a better chance to acquire this car (probably about 50%),
but you probably won't have the patience to repeat 90 laps all the time.
If those two options are out, you have to spend your first money by buying a
car. If you don't want to follow "No Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version" rule,
and already have bought [R]Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version, simply drive it to
clear all of the Dirt Event races. I was still following "No Suzuki Escudo
Pikes Peak Version" rule whenever possible, so I didn't buy it.
Beside Dirt Event, there are manufacturer races awaits. When I have to buy a
car, I have to make it efficient so that the car can be used to clear any
manufacturer races, but also fast enough to clear most of Dirt Event races.
The only one car I could think was the new Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34) because
it will be required to clear Skyline-R34 Challenge later. Then I upgraded this
car by buying Racing Muffler, Computer, Full Customize Transmission, Turbine
Kit Stage 4, Racing Intercooler, Full Customize Suspension, Dirt Tires, and
Weight Reduction Stage 3, for a total of about 21 million Cr. You shouldn't
buy Racing Modify yet because Skyline-R34 Challenge only accept normal cars.
Now clear Skyline-R34 Challenge. As additional note, all of the manufacturer
races will select any random normal and reverse course. If you need to race on
any of longer tracks, for example Grand Valley, Rome Circuit, Seattle Circuit,
or theirs' reverse courses, it better if you reload the game and retake it.
Once it's done, buy Racing Modify for another 8.5 million Cr, and your car is
ready to take on Dirt Event races. However, it requires some tuning. Change the
Gear Auto Setup to Level 20, and set the Downforce to the max (0.52 for the
front and 0.85 for the rear). If you still need more tuning, you can check it
below, but I only tweak these 2 options. Now clear all Dirt Event races except
the last 2 Pikes Peak Hill Climb, which will be discussed in the last chapter.
With your current car, you won't be able to clear those races. Anyway, Dirt
Event and manufacturer races only give prize money, so you won't acquire any
prize cars anymore. In the end, I had around 439 million Cr. If you acquired
either [R]Mitsubishi FTO LM Edition or [R]Toyota Celica Rally Car, you should
still have all of your money (about 458 million Cr).
Here is a recap of what races should be done, what cars should be used, what is
the necessary upgrades and tuning if any, and the prize money you can collect.
This is the modified Skyline GT-R (R34) I used to clear most of the Dirt Event
races.

CH05 - Manufacturer Races
********************************************************************************
Now what's left is the manufacturer races. As my commitments in the guide, I'll
only buy the necessary cars, and only upgrade them wnen necessary as minimal as
possible. If you don't spend any cash except for clearing Dirt Event races, you
should still have most of your money (I still had about 439 million Cr).
I've told you many times to save the money, but you probably still don't know
the reason. Now I'll explain it.
If my count was right, you have to buy about 43 cars and you have to install
Racing Modify for about 36 cars. In order to buy Racing Modify, you have to buy
all 3 Weight Reduction Stages. Their total costs are different between low and
high power cars, but at least you have to spend about 11 million Cr for a car.
By applying basic multiply, 36 cars will equal to about 396 million Cr, and
remember that there are some upgrades you need to buy. Now you'll see why you
need to save your money since the beginning of the game.
As another additional note, you have to buy about 43 cars, but your garage can
only hold 100 cars. At this point, you probably have at least 78 cars, so you
have to sell at least 78+43-100 = 21 cars. Since the topic is about selling
cars, I sell all of my low power cars, mainly because they aren't required to
clear any specific races.

* Shelby Cobra "/
* Dodge Phaeton
*/ This car has the highest profit with 12.5 million Cr. So you may want to
keep it until you need the money later.
In the end, I sold 30 cars and collected 42 million Cr. Now your cars'
collection should be reduced to 48, and if you add 43, you'll eventually have
91 cars. If you somehow managed to acquire all golds in License Test, you will
have 96 cars later. The rest of the slots can be used to obtain what you want.
If you still need more money, you can also sell these cars as they aren't used
often. I didn't sell these cars because I thought I already had enough money to
clear the rest of the races.
* Nissan Nismo 400R
* Nissan GT-R Autech Version
* Toyota Tom's T020
* Mazda Roadster A Spec (NB8C)
* Volkswagen Lupo 1.4
And of course, you can sell any racing cars you don't need it anymore. However,
I like racing cars due to theirs' nice appearance, so I keep them as long as
possible until I need to open some spaces.
Before starting the main events, these are some additional information you may
need to know about manufacturer races.
* Similar to what I've said in previous chapter, all of the manufacturer
races will select any random normal and reverse course. If you need to race on
any of longer tracks, for example Grand Valley, Rome Circuit, Seattle Circuit,
or theirs' reverse courses, it better if you reload the game and retake it.
* In this guide, I purposedly skip all long tracks (for example Grand Valley,
Rome Circuit, Seattle Circuit, or theirs' reverse courses) and easy tracks
(Super Speedway and Test Course). If you are driving a slower car, obviously
skip Test Course as you will get bored really fast. For easier tracks like High
Speed Ring or Tahiti Road, you may want to lower the necessary upgrades and see
what happens.
* If one particular event requires a used car, but it's not appear in the used
cars section, just skip it and come back later. It seems that different
versions of the game have different cycle days, so keep recheck the list
after clearing any event.
* Since used cars don't always show up in the list, you may want to recheck
every used cars lists in every manufacturer, and then buy the necessary car if
necessary. It's better to buy the necessary cars rather than have to wait until
they appear. At worst, you may have to wait until 4 - 5 cycles.
* Here is a recap of what used cars should be bought. If one particular race
can be entered by new and used cars, I'll select a used car as it's cheaper,
and, if there are more than 1 eligible cars, I always select the cheaper one
but which still has good power.
* Daihatsu Mira TR-XX (The only eligible used car)
* Honda NSX '90 (The cheapest)
* Honda Civic Ferio(EG) SiR (The cheapest)
* Mazda Eunos Roadster Normal '89 (The cheapest)
* Mazda AZ-1 Normal (The cheapest)
* Mitsubishi Mirage Cyborg-R (The cheapest)
* Mitsubishi Lancer GSR Evolution II (The cheapest)
* Nissan Silvia K's (S13) '91 (The cheapest will be the '88 version,
but it lacks power)
* Nissan Pulsar GTi-R (The only eligible used car)
* Nissan March Super Turbo (The only eligible used car)
* Subaru Alcyone SVX Version L (The cheapest)
* Suzuki Alto Works RS/X (The cheapest)
* Suzuki Cappuccino (The only eligible used car)
* Toyota Starlet 3 door turbo S (The one with 101ps, not the one with
71ps)
* Toyota Celica (ST185) GT-FOUR (If required)
The one I needed to wait patiently was Honda NSX '90 since it's the most
expensive car in this list. I waited until I could buy it with about 3.1
million Cr. The rest of the cars can be bought as soon as they appear. Mazda
AZ-1 Normal is probably the rarest car in the list.
Here is a recap of what manufacturer races should be done, what cars should be
should be bought, and also whether they are new or used cars, what is the
necessary upgrades and tuning if any, and the prize money you can collect.
Actually I have mentioned it before, but you probably have forgotten about it.
If i have to buy a new car, I will show in what page and position I buy it. The
sequence numbers are:
1 5
2 6
3 7
4 8
Hopefully non NTSC-J versions still apply identical sequence, or else all of
the position that are written here are useless.

* If you have [R]Toyota Celica Rally Car, drive it to destroy the Racing Style

is probably related to any changes for different regions, or the later fixes.
So please try that car first, and then, if you can't use these 2 cars, apply

If you play non NTSC-J versions, similar to Honda Civic above, this car is
probably quite difficult to notice due to many cars with "Celica" in theirs
name, but you can check it from "GT-FOUR" parts. As usual, by showing the range
cost, hopefully you can find what car that I used.
Another note for this race is, you can actually win it without installing any
power boost upgrades, but it'll become a hard battle. Another car that can be
selected is a used Toyota Celica (ST185) GT-FOUR RC, which cost you about 1
million Cr but has 10ps more power. If you select this car, you can win it
without power boost.

I believe this race can be cleared with stock car, but I can't do it. After a
few attempts, I decided to buy Turbine Kit Stage 1 for 400,000 Cr and win the
race on my first attempt. Since the total cost is about 640,000 Cr, you can

-------------------- +
Total Money : about 535 million Cr
Current Money : about 14 million Cr
-------------------- -
Total Money Spent : about 521 million Cr
In this chapter I had to spend about 521 million. Remember that you need more
money if you buy more upgrades, but you may save more money if you already have
the required cars to compete. At maximum you can save up to 3 Racing Modify
upgrades ([R]Toyota Celica Rally Car, [R]Toyota Altezza LM Edition, and either
[R]Dodge Viper GTS-R / [R]Dodge STP Taisan Viper). I was testing this guide on
the worst possible condition, so I bought those upgrades even though I had
either of these cars.

CH06 - The Last Races
********************************************************************************
After all of those races, finally you have reached 99.08% without having
[R]Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version. What's left is the last 2 Dirt Event races
against [R]Suzuki Cultus Pikes Peak Version and [R]Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak
Version. As far as I know, there is no other way to clear these 2 events unless
you spend 200 million Cr to buy [R]Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version itself.
I even tried with fully upgraded and tuned [R]Nissan Skyline GT-R (R34), the
car that I used in previous chapter, but still couldn't even beat [R]Suzuki
Cultus Pikes Peak Version.
Well, I have to said that the main content of this guide must end here since
there aren't any options left. In order to gain the last 0.92%, you have to
break all of the rules.
The fastest way to collect money is by repeating Gran Turismo All Stars third
race (Red Rock Valley) 4 times, then sell all 4 TVR Speed 12s for 50 million Cr
each, giving a total of 200 million Cr, the amount you need to buy [R]Suzuki
Escudo Pikes Peak Version. Now clear the last 2 Dirt Event races. The one
against [R]Suzuki Cultus Pikes Peak Version may be easier, but the one against
[R]Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version may be quite challenging. Each race gives
0.46%, so you will eventually achieve 100% Completion.
And now, to answer the main question of this guide, the answer is 43 + 1 cars.
You have to buy 43 cars and [R]Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version. However, the
number can be decreased by one if you manage to acquire [R]Toyota Celica Rally
Car from one of the endurance races.
********************************************************************************
PN06 - What's Next
********************************************************************************
After achieving 100% Completion, there are probably something you might want to
do.
* In order to free up some slots, you need to sell several cars again. After
buying many cars, obviously there are some useless cars you don't want to keep
anymore. However, I didn't include all racing cars because I didn't want to
lose the money I'd spent on them.
* Daihatsu Midget II D-type
* Honda NSX '90
* Mazda AZ-1 Normal
* Mitsubishi Lancer GSR Evolution II
* Nissan Silvia K's (S13) '91
* Nissan Pulsar GTi-R
* Toyota Starlet 3 door turbo S
* Toyota MR-S S edition
* BMW 323ci
* Dodge Viper RT/10 *
* Ford Focus 1.8i Zetec
There are 11 possible cars. The most expensive car is Dodge Viper RT/10, which
you probably still want to keep it.
If you want to sell all normal prize cars then you can sell these cars:
* Honda Mugen Beat
* Subaru Impreza Wagon WRX STi Version V
* Toyota XYR '99 SHOW VERSION
* Mazda RX-7 GT-C
* Mazda Roadster B Spec (NA8C) / Mazda Roadster C Spec (NA8C)
* Honda Spoon Civic Type-R
And this is the possible Essential Cars that can be sold in the previous chapter
* Nissan Nismo 400R
* Nissan GT-R Autech Version
* Toyota Tom's T020
* Mazda Roadster A Spec (NB8C)
* Volkswagen Lupo 1.4
I still want to keep Tommykaira ZZ III and Honda Spoon Integra Type-R since
both cars had helped me to clear most races with a range of 200 - 350 ps power
restriction. I also keep all 4 Nissan Mine's for no specific reason, you
probably want to sell all of them. TVR Speed 12 is probably the fastest stock
normal prize car, and Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car '97 can be upgraded to 845ps,
which is probably the fastest upgraded normal prize car.
There are 21 cars you can sell, which will reduce your cars' collection to
around 70 cars.
* The second objective is to collect every prize car, so you have to repeat all
series, then all endurance races if you want. This is the recap of what you
probably need to do.

There are 15 cars that can be acquired, which will fill up your garage to
around 85 cars. The rest of spaces can be used for...
* Collecting all special cars. In order to farm money, just apply the previous
method: repeat Gran Turismo All Stars third race (Red Rock Valley) and sell TVR
Speed 12 for 50 million Cr. Remember to always have at least 1 open slot before
buying another car. This is the list of all special cars in the game.

The powers listed here are what are written after buying the cars, not the ones
that have been shown in their respective manufacturers' special page. There are
a total of 40 cars, but you only have about 15 open slots, so you can't collect
all of them.
However, I find some unique facts about them:
* The car with the most power boost is [R]Mini Cooper 1275S MK 1 which gain
168ps rather than what is shown in the showroom, but it's also the slowest car
in the list. [R]Opel Tigra Ice Race Car gains 108ps power boost, and it's the
most profitable 50 million Cr car.
* Jaguar XJ220 GT Race Car, Nissan R390 GT1 Road Car '98 and Toyota GT-ONE Road
Version are probably the most valuable 100 million Cr cars, as they can be
upgraded with Turbine Kit Stage 4, reaching the maximum 959ps, 849ps, and
989ps, respectively. However, neither of them can't be used on Dirt Event races.
* Between 200 million Cr cars, [R]Suzuki Escudo Pikes Peak Version is the
fastest car and [R]Suzuki Cultus Pikes Peak Version is the second fastest car.

[R]Renault Espace F1 may have quite high power, but it's very heavy. the
first-mentioned car is also the only car to be able to clear the last 2 Dirt
Event races.
