- I N T R O D U C T I O N -
Hey y'all, this is my first FAQ, and is hopefully very well written. As
you see at the top of the screen, this is a FAQ/WALKTHROUGH to the many
_SIDE QUESTS_ of the game, and will not have any walkthrough sections
on the main parts of the game and such. There are many walkthroughs for
the game on the gamefaqs website. This guide does have spoilers ahead,
and I WILL NOT be careful to avoid them. You have been warned.
The main reason I wrote this is because I was in dire need of a
complete, detailed list of all the side quests in this game. Most of
the walkthroughs have almost all of these quests, but none has all of
them. So, in order to save you the time, I decided to write a FAQ
specially devoted to the side quests in the game. The main side quests
can be accomplished in this game are almost all on disc three. You
should be able to beat all the side quests by the time you get the
Ragnorok(which is basically the end of the game anyway). PLEASE NOTE:
My main source for the statistics and lists of this faq is the strategy
guide made by Brady on the American version of the game, but I did not
just copy the guide word for word, I just looked at it for ideas. I
did, though, copy all stats (of course, there is no way to renumber it
or anything), so thanks to the makers of the guide for that! I tried to
make, to the best of my ability, the directions clear, and, put it in a
format to give you clues to the locations so you can have a little fun
instead of completely cheating and just doing what the FAQ says. Any
questions should be mailed to the address above.
- R E V I S I O N H I S T O R Y -
11/26/99 1.0 First release. Have the side quests section
finished but that's about it for now, and
a chunk of the G.F. section done.
12/20/99 1.3 Sorry for not updating for so long, I did
quite a few things, and I've had so much
work and personal crap to do I haven't been
able to do anything when I come home for the
past 2 weeks.
Well, there seemed to be a problem with the
site not being able to center things, so I
fixed all that. Also, finished more of the
G.F. section, added an explanation
section, and revised and added some other
things throughout the guide. Check around,
I redid many of the sections.
- W H A T ' S N E W -
12/10/99
- Well, first of all, the what's new section.
- Secondly, the way I put the stats for all the enemies.
- Thirdly, I put the how to use this guide section in, and you could
look at it to see how other sections that aren't completed will
look.
- Omega Weapon Strategy.
- PLEASE! ANYBODY WITH THE CHOCOBO FOREST HELP ME!!!
- More of the G.F. Section finished
- Make sure to check the Deep Sea Research center section for an
alternative (and MUCH easier) way to reach Ultima Weapon.
- H O W T O U S E T H I S G U I D E -
Using this guide is pretty easy and straightforward. I assume that you
already know how to play the game, and if you don't, then go read the
manual or inspect the tutorial. If you need help in a single, certain
event, then you can just use a search (if your word processor/internet
browser supports it). Also, by looking at these instructions,
you can learn what in the FAQ is ahead, if I haven't finished a certain
section. I will explain my plans for every section here, so expect what
you see soon :)
My FAQ is divided into different parts. First of all, the FAQ is always
under some kind of work, so basically none of the sections are finished
yet. Anyway, the divisions are like this:
SIDE QUESTS - I'll explain all the known side quests here. These are
the extras that most people have a hard time finding. I'll list them
and explain how to do them. Some of it I may need your help on, if I
do, it will explain at that particular section. This section should be
pretty much self explanatory.
G.F. - Here is where I'll explain all the G.F., their locations,
abilities, etc. The way I am going to write the G.F. abilities are:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
G.F. Ability |Description |AP Required|
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
SumMag+10% |Summon magic damage raised by 10% |40 |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
The G.F. ability is the ability, description is what it does, and AP
required is...AP required!
Refine lists:
------------------------------
|Ammo-RF |
------------------------------
|1 Screw = 8 normal ammo |
|1 Normal Ammo = 1 Fast Ammo |
|1 Shotgun Ammo = 2 Fast Ammo |
|1 Bomb Fragment = |
| 20 Fire Ammo |
|1 Red Fang = 40 Fire Ammo |
|1 Fuel = 10 Fire Ammo |
|1 Poison Powder = |
| 10 Dark Ammo |
|1 Venom Fang = 20 Dark Ammo |
|1 Missile = 20 Demolition Ammo|
|1 Running Fire = |
| 40 Demolition Ammo |
|1 Cactus Thorn = |
| 40 Demolition Ammo |
|1 Sharp Spike = 10 AP Ammo |
|1 Chef's Knife = 20 AP Ammo |
|1 Laser Cannon = 5 Pulse Ammo |
|1 Energy Crystal = |
| 10 Pulse Ammo |
|1 Power Generator = |
| 20 Pulse Ammo |
------------------------------
Well gee, I wonder how to use this chart?! This info can be found in
the tutorial, for your convenience.
MAGIC - I will list the magic here. I'll give you their junctioning
stats, etc. When I get to it, this is how it will look like:
-------------------------------------
|Magic Name: Junction Stats | *Assume that you have 100 of a
|Ultima HP: 6000 | magic.
| Str: 100 | *Abbreviations:
|Status: Vit: 82 | ELEMENTS:
|Atk: - Mag: 100 | F = Fire I = Ice
| Spr: 34 | L = Lightning E = Earth
| Spd: 30 | P = Poison W = Wind
|Def: - Eva: 30 | Wa= Water H = Holy
| Hit: 40 | STATUS:
| | D = Death P = Poison
|Elemental: Magic Explanation: | Pe= Petrify B = Blind
|Atk: - Ultimate magic; | M = Mute Be= Beserk
| causes extreme | Z = Zombie S = Sleep
| non-elemental | Sl= Slow St= Stop
|Def: All damage to all | Sd= SlowDeath Sp= SlowPtry
| elements enemies. | C = Confuse D = Drain
| +100% | * = Blown Away G = Gravity
-------------------------------------
Of course, the statistics mean:
Status Atk - What the magic will do (if applicable) if you junction it
to your status attack.
Status Def - What the magic will do (if applicable) if you junction it
to your status defense.
Elemental Atk - What the magic will do (if applicable) if you junction
it to your elemental attack.
Elemental Def - What the magic will do (if applicable) if you junction
it to your elemental defense.
On status attack - that is the percentage of chance the magic will
raise for that specific status to be inflicted when you attack. For
status defense, that is the rate at which status attacks will be
blocked.
Elemental attack is how much your attack will damage your enemy with
a certain elemental. So, if you attack with a 50% elemental fire
junctioned to your attack, every time you attack an enemy that is
'neutral' with fire, there will be no effect. With one that is weak,
to it will receive 50% more damage and vice versa. Elemental defense
shows how much a certain element will be blocked / absorbed.
The vital statistics:
HP - your 'life'. This is how much the magic will raise its max value.
Str - your attack value. The higher the number, the more damage a
normal attack will do.
Vit - Vitality = Defense. How much your ability to defend against
normal _physical_ attacks is raised.
Mag - How much your magic attack power is raised via junctioning the
magic.
Spr - How much your spirit is raised. Spirit is obviously your magic
defense.
Spd - Your speed. The higher it is, the faster your ATB gauge will
fill.
Eva - Your evade rate. When raised to higher numbers, enemies have
a lower ability to hit you with attacks. Magic NEVER misses.
Hit - Your hit rate. When you hit, you have a certain chance of
hitting your target. I'm not sure if this is the official way, since
Square normally does all of their numbers and calculating in strange
ways, but I think this is how hit is calculated:
If your hit is 105 %, and an enemies eva is 50 %, then you have a
55 % chance of you hitting the enemy (morons probably could even
figure this, but for first timers who are wondering why your % would
go past 100). Anyway, it would only be wise to junction to this stat
if you want to attack Cactuars efficiently, because of their high
eva rate.
Of course, there are the elements and statuses. I'll explain this in
the bestiary section.
CHARACTERS - I'll give some tips on building your characters up, their
limit breaks, and remodeling their weapons. This is how I will chart
the characters:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Character Name: Squall Leonheart Age: 17
Height: 5'8 DoB: August 23

--------------------------------------------------------------------
Limit Break: Renzokuken
A series of four to eight slashes, press R1 at the correct time to
cause a critical hit. Also, he can finish with a special move which
depends on his gunblade model. These finishing moves are:
Rough Divide:
Slashes at the enemy and causes heavy amounts of damage.
Fated Circle:
Squall completes a circle with his sword, and a blast hits all
enemies for medium damage.
Blasting Zone:
Squall fires a huge beam into the sky, then crushes the enemy
with the beam. Hits all enemies for medium/high damage.
Lion Heart:
Quite possibly the most powerful limit in the game; Squall slashes
the enemy into the air, and launches a series of attacks against
the enemy. Hits a single enemy roughly 19 times for EXTREME
damage.
Additional Notes:
Not a good idea to mess with this fighter. His gunblade can have
critical attacks just by pressing R1 at the correct time. To get the
items for his weapons:
M-Stone Piece - Dropped often by Bite Bugs(Balamb).
Screw: Dropped often by Geezards(Near Galbadia).
Steel Pipe: Mug REAL easy from Wendigos(Near Galbadia, desert like
area).
Mezmerize Blade: Dropped by Mezmerizes(Trabia Continent), or
refined from Mezmerize Cards.
Betrayal Sword: Mug Blitz(Centra Area) or Forbidden Card.
Turtle Shell: Mug an Armadodo(Tomb of the Unknown King)
Dino Bone: Refine Armadodo card
Red Fang: Dropped/Mugged from Chimeras and Hexadragons, or 3
Hexadragon cards.
Chef's Knife: Dropped by Tonberry or refine a Tonberry card.
Star Fragment: Fight Elnoyles(Esthar roads after Lunar Cry) or
T-Rexaurs(LV 30+)
Adamantine: Dropped by Adamantoise(Long Horn Island, north of
Dollet)
Dragon Fang: Dropped by Blue Dragon(Trabia), Grendels(LV 1-30)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
As you can see, I describe the limits of all the characters. Also, I
explain where to get the items for the weapons. That's all the
explanation you'll probably need for this section.
CARDS - Complete list of cards will be given. The section isn't even
complete yet, but I have a layout ready.
------------------------------- -------------------------------
|Card Name: 5 | |Card Name: 6 |
| Laguna (10) 9 A | | Seifer (10) 4 9 |
| 3 | | A |

| Lunar Base. | | Headmaster Cid anytime |
| | | possible. |
|Refines: | |Refines: |
| 100 Heroes | | 3 Diamond Armors |
------------------------------- -------------------------------
Of course, there is the Card's Name. By the name is the cards level.
To the right of the card's name is the card's statistics. Under the
name, the location will be listed. For monster cards that are not rare,
there will be a location in which you can fight the monster.
Next under that is what the cards refine into. Note that if you refine
a rare card (Level 8-10), then there is no way in which you can regain
the card.
BESTIARY - You heard me...the vitals of every monster in the game.
Thanks to Bradygames and their strategy guide for the stats. The way I
write the bestiary for the normal monsters is slightly different from
the way I will write it for the bosses.

Additional Notes: Really easy monsters. Don't worry about them really
even being able to scratch you. Nothing special about these
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
That's how I'm going to arrange the monsters. Yes, I know it'll take me
about half an hour to type up the stuff on one monster, and that you'll
have to read a whole freakin' page just to get the stats on 1 of the
124 monsters/bosses in the game. Do you know what this means? The
bestiary will be about 100 pages just in itself!
Enough of my jabbering. I'll explain how I write the stats.
There's the monster name, of course. Next to it is there level 1 and
level 100 HP. I didn't give a vivid level by level description on HP,
but what I gave you should be enough.
Then there are the stats. Writing up the stats takes an unbearable
amount of time, so I will only be writing stats for every 20 levels.
If I ever find the time, I'll give full 10 level stats like I do on
the bosses. Next to the stats are the information which you get when
you scan the enemy.
After this, there is a draw list. The draw list shows what magic can
be drawn from them at certain levels. NOTE: At higher levels,
different magic can be drawn, so look at all the different levels.
Under this is the status effects list. I will show every status
attack and the percentage chance in which it will work. There are
18 status effects which I'll explain here:
Death - Instant death. Inflict with Death magic or LV? Death.
Poison - Poisoned; every action inflicts damage. Inflict with bio
magic and other items that cause poison damage.
Petrify - Stoned. Cannot execute commands or be damaged during
battle. If your party is stoned, game over. Inflict with Break.
Blind - Your hit rate is drastically reduced. Inflict with Blind
magic.
Mute - All commands having to do with magic (including G.F.) are
sealed; in or out of battle. Inflict with Mute magic or Siren
G.F.
Berserk - Attack power and speed raised. Cannot execute any
command but attack. Inflict with Berserk magic.
Zombie - Character is hurt by all curative items and magic.
Inflict with Zombie magic.
Sleep - Character is disabled until duration lasts out or
character is ATTACKED. Inflict with sleep
Slow - Character's speed decreased. Inflict with slow magic.
Stop - Character disabled. Unable to accept commands until
certain amount of time passes or Esuna is used. Inflict with
stop magic.
Slow Death - Timer runs on top of character. When it runs out,
the character becomes KO'd. Inflict with Doom Train.
Slow Petrify - Same as above, except when time runs out,
character becomes Petrified. Inflict with Doom Train.
Confuse - Character loses control and starts attacking friend
or foe. Inflict with Confuse magic.
Drain - HP is drained from enemy and given to you. Inflict with
drain magic.
Gravity - Gravity attacks cause certain percentage damage.
Inflict with Diablos G.F. or Demi magic.
Under this are Elemental stats. These stats show a percentage from -
100 to 300. 100 are normal damage. Anything below 100 is blocked, and
negative numbers indicate absorption.
Fire
Ice
Lightning
Earth
Wind
Water
Poison
Holy
After that, I will be giving descriptions of what the enemy will drop
and what can be mugged from them. They drop different things at
different levels, and at different chances. I typed it with the item
with the largest chance of being dropped first and the item with the
smallest chance last.
Devour stats are after the drop/mug lists. Different enemies do
different things when devoured, and some even raise stats!
Finally, I'll describe the areas you can fight the enemy in and also
give some additional notes about how to fight it if it's a dangerous
enemy or note certain things that you can receive from fighting it.
Bosses are not much different.

Really easy. Hopefully, you have 13-17 minutes left. The more the
better. First of all, scan him. After that, hit him until he has about
two more hits worth of HP left. After this, constantly draw triple,
since the magic junctions well. Keep on drawing until you have about
30-40 seconds left, then defeat him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
All things are normal, except I list all stats available to me. Also, I
don't mention drop/mug/devour or in a big list since it is a boss, and
most of its drops and mugs are preset, and devour is usually something
you cannot do to a boss. Also, I add a strategy to defeat it.
ITEMS - Item listing. It's very self explanatory, and a description is
not needed here :)
Well, that should be all of the explanations. I hope you enjoy the FAQ!
- C O N T R I B U T I O N S / H E L P W A N T E D ! ! ! -
A couple of contributions and help which I would like:
- The attacks of the bosses
- Any mistakes (including grammatical) that I might have on the file.
- I used an incorrect font, and my format got all messed up. If you
see any incorrect line breaks or charts, then tell me.
- Suggestions for a better faq.
- Of course, the Chocobo Forest quest.
- I'm probably missing buttloads of monster locations. Also, I have no
knowledge of the monsters' attacks. I'm working on finding the attacks,
but doing that for bosses will probably take awhile. Any help will be
appreciated.
- A ample explanation of how the experience system in this game is.
Please note, that I have tried to experiment, and have made these
conclusions:
Experience definitely seems to fluctuate with level. It also seems
that it does not rise only with levels; a hexadragon used to give
me 1700 exp. _at least_ but now only gives me about 1200.
Extra experience is given to the one who last attacks the monster
or actually kills the monster.

Here I will explain all the very many side quests of this game. To
become a master at this game, you have to beat every one of these...
ALSO, BIG NOTE: Almost all of these side-quests MUST MUST MUST be
completed before disc three, due to time compression.
-+-+-+-+-+-
|Obel Lake|
-+-+-+-+-+-
North of Timber is a lake with water a slightly different color than
normal (kinda looks murky). There should be a small peninsula reaching
into the center of the lake. Go to the edge of the this peninsula and
search it for a set of hidden options to appear.
It will ask you:
> Throw a Rock
> Try Humming
Try humming, and a 'black shadow' should appear. If not, keep trying.
The shadow will tell you that his friend Mr. Monkey is lost, and asks
you to help find the monkey. He gives you two clues: 'Mr. Monkey may
have hopped a train toward Dollet', and 'Mr. Monkey likes hanging out
inside of forests'.
Have you guessed where he is? He's in the forest west of Dollet. Just
walk around, and eventually you'll run into Mr. Monkey. Either choice
will make him run for it, so just go back to Obel Lake. Now, the shadow
will give you clues to 'stones' randomly:
'Take a break at the railroad bridge'
'At the beach near Balamb, something special washes up sometimes'
'Take time off at the Eldbeak Peninsula'
'You'll find something on an island east of Timber'
'You'll find something on top of a mountain with a lake and cavern'
'Back in the day, there used to be a small but beautiful village south
of here surrounded by deep forrests'
'Mr. Monkey had a rock like this'
NOTE: These are easier to accomplish with Enc-None on.
'At the beach near Balamb, something special washes ashore at times'
The beach on the Balamb continent houses many rocks, just search the
area constantly pressing X until you find the rock with 'STSLRM'
'You'll find something on an island east of Timber, too'
There's an island east of timber without shores...fly Ragnarok there
and search the island for rocks until you find the one REAIDR.
'There's also something on top of a mountain with a lake and cavern'
Near the Galbadia garden site, there should be a mountain with a
cavern with water coming out of it. Go on top of that mountain
(Monterosa Plateau) and search the area directly above the cavern.
There, you'll find a bird warming it's eggs. Select 'check it out'
and you'll fight a Cokatrice. Kill it, then get the rock, which says
EASNPD.
'Mr. Monkey had a rock like this I think...'
First of all, go to the peninsula and throw rocks. Throw 'em until
it says 'The rock skipped many many times'. After this, go to the
forest with Mr. Monkey. Find him, and throw rocks at him ^-^.
Eventually, he'll throw a rock back at you, saying URHAEO.
Now...put the rocks together for the final clue (go back to the lake
and the shadow will display the rocks in this order)
S T S L R M
U R H A E O
R E A I D R
E A S N P D
See a pattern? If you read it from top right down the list of letters,
it will say MORDREDPLAINSHASTREASURE; Mordred plains has treasure.
Go to the Mordred Plains, which is north of Esthar.
Here, different stones are all over the place. The one you really want
to pay attention to is the red stones. They lie; meaning you should do
exactly opposite of what they say. If they say that the treasure isn't
there, then it's there; check it a second time to receive it. The
treasure is a Three Stars, which teaches the ever useful Expendx3-1
ability.
'Take a break at the railroad bridge'
Well, he hints to the many draw points around the world that are
located on railroad bridges.
'Take time off at the Eldbeak Peninsula'
Go to the Eldbeak Peninsula, which is located north of the Balamb
Continent. Check around it for a stone which says:
TRETIMEASUREATMINOFFDEISLE
Figure it out?
Take the clue literally, and take out the words TIME OFF from the
stones. It should now say TREASURE AT MINDE ISLE. Minde Isle is
located south of Esthar, and you'll get a Luck-J scroll for your
effort.
'Back in the day, south of here, there used to be a small but beautiful
village surrounded by deep forests. Everyone lived a happy life there'
In Centra, there should be a forest with a round grassy clearing in
middle of it. Inspect it, and Squall will mention that there's a lot
of rubble around. Now, the best part of this side quest...
THERE'S NOTHING HERE!!!
+-+-+-+-+-+-
|Centra Ruins|
-+-+-+-+-+-+
On the Centra continent are two areas which you can explore...Edea's
house, and the Centra Ruins. It's around the Centra crater. I would
recommend you do this right after you get the mobile garden.
- Getting Odin
The first time you enter the ruins, there will be a timer for 20
minutes on the screen. I would recommend that for now, you keep
Enc-None on. First, climb all the stairs and go up on the altar
elevator. After this, climb the left stairs all the way to the
top and into the room with the machinery. Here, you'll want to
activate the switch. Now, climb back down.
After getting back now, there should be another switch that lit up.
Activate this switch to open up a stairway. Go up the stairway all
the way up. Here, you'll be able to see a statue with one eye in it.
Climb the small ladder and take the eye from the statue. Now, go up
the stairs on the right to the top.
Here, take the eye you had and put it in the missing socket of the
statue here. A random code will appear. Remember this number. Now,
take both eyes out of the socket and go back down to the previous
statue.
At the statue, put both eyes in the socket, and an place to input a
code should appear. Here, use the directional keys to input the code
you saw at the top of the ruins. After this, a door should open up
and you'll be able to fight Odin.

Really easy. Hopefully, you have 13-17 minutes left. The more the
better. First of all, scan him. After that, hit him until he has about
two more hits worth of HP left. After this, constantly draw triple,
since the magic junctions well. Keep on drawing until you have about
30-40 seconds left, then defeat him.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
- Tonberry King
Ok, first of all, you'll want to have stored a lot of Hi-Potions and
Phoenix Downs. This quest is NOT easy, and failing it can be a very
big waste of time. It took me about 40 minutes to do, but I died on
the king and had to do it all over again. Slower players can take up
to 2 hours to do this quest, so BE CAREFUL!!!
The party you want for this is Zell, Squall, and your most 3rd most
useful character (I recommend Rinoa). Now, you have to be in the
beginning area of the ruins. The objective is to kill 18 - 22
Tonberries, in a row, and without leaving or saving! Once this is
accomplished, the Tonberry King appears at random.
The rumor about the 20 chef's knives has been confirmed to
be...incorrect. Thanks to Morgan Lewis (?) for the information!
ANOTHER NOTE!!!! I have been told (thanks Chris Keppler and quite a few
other people, but its first come first serve in the thanks department)
that you can exit the area to save, regardless of what a lot of people
say! Try it out!!!
My strategy is to keep Zell and Squall's HP REAL LOW. Also, make
sure you have learned Zell's Meteor Drive limit. Tonberries have
A LOT of HP (around 20000), and also have an attack which deals
about 2000 damage. The catch is, they have to walk across the whole
screen before they can hit you (unless they do everyone's grudge,
which I'm not sure how it works). Begin the battle with Squall
attacking with Renzokuken. After that, use Zell's duel. Depending on
your luck, you may start with a lot or little time. Nevertheless,
always do this chain of attacks: Punch Rush, Meteor Drive, Mach
kick, OR, Booya, Heel Drop, Meteor Drive (whichever one is easier
for you). For every second, you should be able to do 2-3 attacks per
second, at least. Practice those moves, and you'll able to kill a
tonberry with 1-3 duel attacks, meaning killing a tonberry can take
as little as 2 minutes! If you use summons or attacks, then it can
take upto 5 minutes per battle, meaning it really will take you 2
hours to do this quest. After the 20th or so kill, the Tonberry King
will appear.

I would recommend that you fight him when he's at level 30+, since
that's when he would have more useful magics to draw. First of all,
make sure that at least 2 characters have the draw command. The other
can have either draw or item. All the characters should have the G.F.
command, and maybe magic as the missing spot.
You DON'T want to die against this foe. If you do, you'll have to do
the whole tonberry killing process again. I would NOT recommend you
fight him at level 100, since he'll have some 250,000 HP (!) then.
What you want to do, is attack with all your best G.F. Cast protect as
a minimum, and maybe haste. If possible, attack with limits, but
concentrate on using powerful G.F. instead. He has a selection of
attacks: It's sharp can do anywhere from 1-9999 damage, and I'm not
exactly sure how this damage is calculated. Be careful of this attack.
His normal attack can do about a thousand to a single character. His
toybox drop can cause 1500 damage to all.
If any of your characters fall into low HP, draw cast curaga on
him/her. If they're killed, then draw cast full-life. The battle can be
tough, especially at later levels, and is time consuming. Good luck!

|Shumi Tribe|
-+-+-+-+-+-
The Shumi Tribe is located on a large island northwest of Trabia, it's
on your map. Here, you can find an ultima draw point (5000 gil per
use!)and some other interesting things.
Explore the village. Eventually, you'll find someone that needs your
help to finish a statue. You'll find that you need certain stones to
complete this quest. The locations to the stones are:
- Blue Stone
Just to the left of the Laguna statue
- Wind Stone
On a boulder just to the left of the hotel
- Life Stone
Tree roots to the right of the Elder's house
- Shadow Stone
At the surface where the ultima draw point is; check every area with
shadow.
- Water Stone
Check the stone the frog is sitting on, then check for it at the
artisan's house (it's used for washing)
After this, the statue is completed. Go to the elder to get a...
PHEONIX PINION!!!!
After the statue is completed and you got your prize, talk to the
Elder's Attendant in the workshop. After this, go to the elder to ask
for more assistance. After this, go talk to the moomba outside.
Follow the moomba and then return to the elder. He'll say that he needs
another helper for the completion of the statue. Go back and speak with
the elder's attendant. After this, go talk to the artisan. Go back to
the elder, and you'll be asked to find a way to convince the artisan.
Go to FH and speak with the grease monkey (lives in a repair shop).
He'll give you a moomba doll. Go back to the tribe, and show the elder
the doll to receive a status guard.

|Winhill|
-+-+-+-
There are a couple of things you can do in Winhill.
- The Vase Quest
If you visit the mansion near Raine's old house, there will be a
person inside who will ask you for help locating a vase, which
unfortunately has shattered.
The pieces of the vase can be found throughout the town. The first
piece is located in a suit of armor inside the mansion. The second
piece is located in Laguna's old house - in the white flowers. The
third piece is located in Raine's house; talk to the lady living
there until she starts talking about the smell of the flowers
downstairs. Go downstairs and observe the flowers on the lower fight
corner of the screen. Raine's spirit will appear. Speak to it and a
cat will replace it. Inspect the cat to find the last piece of the
vase. Return the pieces to the person in the mansion to receive a
Holy Stone.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
|Chocobo Forest|
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
This is definitely a tough and time consuming quest. In order to finish
it, you need to solve the puzzle in each chocobo forest. The rewards
are pretty good, and you get a Chicobo card in the end too!
What you want to do in each forest is to get only one chicobo remaining
on the screen. Sometimes you have to call them out in a certain order.
I really cannot describe the order in which to do all this without
pictures...sorry. If anyone has good instructions to this quest, please
tell me!!
+-+-+-+-+-
|CC Members|
-+-+-+-+-+
On Balamb garden are some expert card players. For one, I recommend
that you have some good cards before taking on this quest. Also, you
need to have won about 15-20 card players before you can actually play
the members.
The CC members are not that easy. The first one, Jack, can be found
walking around the directory every once in a while. After you beat him,
you can face the Joker. He can be found in the training center; he was
the one who sold items on the 'plank' near the blizzard draw point. He
appears randomly, so it could take a while. Also, he has the Leviathan
card, so remember to get it!
The next member, Club, can be found wandering the hall area around the
dormitory, cafeteria, and parking lot. After challenging them, go back
to the directory. Sometimes, two girls will be walking up to the
directory. After they stop, challenge them and you'll see that they're
the Diamond.
The next member is Spade, who is found on the second floor, near the
elevator. He is in the same place that the guy who gave you the 7 cards
in the beginning of the game was. Please note, though, he does appear
very randomly.
The fifth member, Heart, is Xu, who is found on the bridge. She has the
Carbuncle card, so make sure you nab it from her.
The final CC member is a little bit more difficult to find than the
other members. First, speak with Nida (on the bridge) and then go
challenge Dr. Kadowaki. She'll mention the king. Now, go back to the
dorms and take a nap. If any party members are with you, they have to
leave, so pick that option when at the dorm. The King will appear
randomly, so just constantly try napping. The King has the Gilgamesh
card, so make sure you get it.
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
|Alien Encounters|
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
Have you found it strange, that say, when you fought in a certain area,
a little UFO appeared? It sure as hell was that way for me! Before
taking on this quest, It us required you have Ragnarok, Enc-None, and 5
Elixirs.
The first encounter is at the Winhill Bluffs, which is near, you
guessed it, WINHILL!! The second is on Mandy Beach, a shoreline near
Timber (check your menu to see your current location). The third is on
Kashkabald Desert, which is east of the Centra Ruins, and is the desert
right to the right of Cactuar Island. There are two ways to get here.
Either you get a chocobo at the forest west of the desert and go the
long way, or you just fly Ragnarok there. The final encounter is east
of Trabia, on an island east of Heath Peninsula (actually, the island
is counted as part of the Peninsula; could this be a glitch?)
After you have encountered the UFO in all four locations, go to the
plateau just north of the Chocobo Forest in the Grandidi Forest. The
Grandidi Forest is that huge forest area north of Esthar. Defeat the
UFO
(it ain't that hard) than go to the old Balamb garden site. There, you
will encounter the alien PuPu.
Here, you have two options: You can give it five elixirs and receive
the PuPu card, or you could kill the thing and get an Accelerator. I
would get the card, but it's your choice.
+-+-+-+-+-
|Card Queen|
-+-+-+-+-+
This is probably the second most difficult and longest quest in the
game. It WILL most DEFINETELY require a large amount of patience, and a
crapload of resetting (remember the R1R2L1L2StartSelect trick!). If you
remember, in Balamb, there was a Queen of Cards just outside the Balamb
station. She will remain in Balamb until you lose/win a rare card to
her. When that happens, she will move on to another town. What your
goal should be is to get her to move to Dollet. She has different
chances in different towns to go to different towns (did you get all
that? :). When she does move to Dollet, she will have a new option in
her list when you talk to. If you select that option, she'll request a
rare card so she could give her father the card to make a new rare
card. When you lose that card to her, her father will paint a new card,
and that card will be given to someone around the world. The old card
(MiniMog for example) will be given to the queen's brother, who lives
in the artist's house (south of the pub). Play him to receive the card.
What makes this quest so frustrating is that when you do lose a rare
card, she'll move to another city, and you'll have to chase her down
back to Dollet again. When you do lose a card that isn't part of the
quest, you'll have to play HER to receive the card, meaning doing the
quest and retrieving your lost cards will literally take hours.
NOTE: You can only lose the requested cards in Dollet! Bad news, since
you have to abolish the random rule in Dollet to be able to complete
this quest (well, you could try it with the random rule, but good
luck!!)
She'll want these cards in this order:
=======================================================================</pre><pre id="faqspan-2">
Card |New Card |New Location
=======================================================================
MiniMog Kiros Deling City, man in black near Junk
shop.
Sacred Irvine F.H., Flo who is the Mayor's wife
Chicobo Chubby Chocobo Balamb Garden, guy sitting on bench
in hall outside of library.
Alexander Doomtrain Timber, pub owner
Doomtrain Phoenix Esthar, Presidential Palace,
assistant outside of library.
=======================================================================
Here's a chart of where the queen will move.
=======================================================================
Current Area |Chance of where she'll move to
=======================================================================
Balamb Dollet(37.5%); Deling City(62.5%)
Deling City Balamb, Dollet, Winhill(12.5%); F.H.(62.5%)
Dollet Balamb(37.5%); Deling City(62.5%)
Shumi Village Balamb(25%); Dollet(50%); Lunar Gate(25%)
Winhill Deling City, Dollet(37.5%); F.H.(25%)
F.H. Dollet(12.5); Winhill(25%); Esthar(62.5%)
Esthar Dollet, F.H.(12.5%); Shumi(25%); Lunar Gate(50%)
Lunar Gate Sure as hell any place in the world, good luck
finding her, since she goes anywhere without
giving a clue from here!!!
=======================================================================
Some tips to minimize time:
- You should NEVER EVER let her go to the Lunar Gate, and it wouldn't
be smart to let her go to Deling City, F.H., or Esthar.
- I _REALLY_ recommend that you abolish the random rule from the Dollet
area, since it'll be near impossible to get the queen to take the cards
she wants with it.
MY METHOD OF ABOLISHING:
First of all, go to an area that has at least one new rule to the area
that has the rule you want to abolish. At the area with the new rule,
play somebody there so that you could 'remember' that rule.
FOR EXAMPLE:
Balamb has the open rule. Dollet has Elemental and Random. You want
to abolish Random, so go play someone at Balamb to remember the open
rule.
Now, go to the area with the rule you want to abolish. Play somebody
there (make sure they say something like 'Oh, you have new rules, so
lets play with [new rule area's] rules and ours!'). One of three things
will happen: Either you will abolish a rule, spread a rule, or nothing
will happen. If the desired effect fails to occur, then I would reset
until it does.
- You can do a little 'chain'. What you want to do is get the queen to
Dollet from Balamb. After this, get her to go back to Balamb, then
repeat the process. That will prevent her from going across the whole
world.
-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+
|Deep Sea Research Center|
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
The Deep Sea Research Center is located in a far, far, remote area. To
reach it, go to the very bottom left corner of the map. It's around
there.
I would prepare before coming here. I recommend you have powerful limit
breaks (the Lion Heart would be just perfect!), maybe degenerator, and
lots of high stats. The level down ability might help also.
Just as you enter the room, there will be a glowing core. If you
noticed, every step you take probably leads into a battle. Why? If you
walk when the core is lit, you will probably enter a battle before you
can say 'HEY!'. Wait till the core is not lit, then walk toward the
front of it. When you get here, you'll be given some options.
So you wish to challenge me...
> It's not our will to fight
Pick the one and only option here. You'll be engaged in battle with a
dreaded Ruby Dragon. Ruby Dragons are my worst nightmare; the only
thing I find scarier than this is the...well, nothing! I find these
dragons scarier than even the weapons! If the dragon starts the battle
off with a 'Breath' attack, you're pretty much finished. That attack
does about 9700 damage to all my characters!
My strategy to defeat these bastards from hell is to have initiative on
somebody with the level down ability. As soon as the battle starts,
cast the ability on the enemy, and they'll be drastically weaker
(especially if your characters are at higher levels). Keep doing this
till the dragon can literally do only 2-3 digit damage. Finish it off
then. Also, you can give Quistis initiative, and also have her HP as
_LOW_ as possible. When the battle starts, pray that her limit will be
available, then cast degenerator. If the dragon starts the battle
quickly and attacks with breath or meteor, you are probably finished
(but NEVER give up!!). Get her limit up as quick as possible, and use
degenerate to implode the dragon.
After the first battle, you'll be given another choice:
Begging me for mercy?
> Yeah...there's nothing I can do
> Never
Choose never, and you'll fight ANOTHER (!) Ruby Dragon (don't you love
how hard Square makes their games?!). But...this time, you're
disabled...the battle starts off as a back attack! I find that VERY
often, the dragon also starts off his attacks with Breath. Just try to
use the strategies above and hopefully you'll win.
Damned imbeciles. Why do you wish to fight?
> For the sake of protecting something
> None of your imbeciles
>
Select the secret third option hidden below the 2 listings. Now, you'll
fight Bahamut.

He isn't the easiest boss, but he ain't the hardest either. To start
with an advantage, use Haste on yourself and cast Doomtrain on him. If
you don't have Doomtrain, cast Meltdown, Slow and Blind on him. Also,
cast Protect and Shell on yourselves to protect against some of his
more deadly attacks.
You're at a real advantage since you can draw curative magic from him.
Because of this, have at least one or two characters have the draw
skill. Basically, pound on him with G.F., limits, and high level magic.
Limits are real nice (and Squall has a different animation for
Renzokuken on Bahamut and other certain bosses). If blinded, his
options are very limited. The only thing you'll have to worry about is
his Mega Flare attack. It can do 4000+ damage to you, so I would
recommend keeping your HP at about 6000 during the whole battle. If
anyone gets finished off, draw cast Full-Life, and if anybody falls
below the 4000 mark, draw cast curaga. He shouldn't last too long.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
By now, I hope you only have 1 more G.F. to get...Eden.
After the battle, the core will have exploded. Go back to the Ragnarok,
and enter it's conference room. Also, talk to all of your characters.
After this, go back to the center. There should be a way down now.
The way I did this, is:
On the fist floor, use 4 units to go to floor 2. After this, use 1 unit
to go to floor 3. Repeat this till you're at floor 6. After this,
inspect the machinery, and _LET ZELL HANDLE IT_. If you don't you will
not be able to fight Ultima Weapon.
Go down. Make sure you save before going. On each floor, you'll fight
3-5 groups of a certain type of enemy. First, you'll fight TriFaces.
After this, you'll fight imps and grendels. After this, you'll fight
Behemoths. After this, Ruby Dragons. Finally, you'll fight 2 Iron
Giants (!) at once. After all this crap, you'll finally be at the
bottom.
PLEASE NOTE: You cannot go back up to save/heal or else you'll be
starting over.
NEW!!! Secondary super easy strategy found!! Thanks bigtime to The
Eliminator!
The way you do this is:
- On the first floor, 4 units are spent no matter what.
- On the second floor, use 2 units to get to get down to the next
floor.
- On the third floor, spend 4 units on the monitor a little to the
left of the stairs to enter the steam room. Here, use the station to
recharge 7 steam units. Now, go back to the main room and use 1 unit
to open the way to the next floor.
- On the fourth floor, use 1 unit to get to the next floor.
- On the fifth floor, use 1 unit to go to floor 6.
- Here, don't let Zell operate the machinery, and spend 4 units to go
straight to Ultima Weapon.
Once at the bottom, use the Move-Find ability to find a save point.
Save, then use your remaining ten units of steam to activate the final
controls. After this, you'll engage in battle with Ultima Weapon.

All I can say is that he's not easy. First thing you should do in
battle is to draw Eden. After this, you'll want to cast meltdown on him
and also Aura on yourself.
If you can pull it off, try using Lion Heart (limit break). If you can
do it, it will most likely destroy the weapon. Otherwise, pound it with
limits and G.F. Watch out! His light pillar attack can kick one of your
guys out; it does 9999 damage. Revive with Full-Life. It might help to
cast haste on everybody. Well, that's about all the strategy I can give
you, GOOD LUCK!!

|Cactuar Island|
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
Cactuar island is a small desert island just east of the Kashkabald
Desert. It contains the ever popular cactuar - little cacti who have
made previous appearances in other FF games.
In this game, Cactuars are hard to hit, as normal, but in addition they
run almost immediately in battle also. But, they give an amazing 20 AP
each! This is probably where you would want to come to get your skills
learned.
What I do is I put initiative on Zell and have his HP really low. After
this, I use his limit, and do a finishing blow which hits all the
enemies. Also, you can attack with Squall or Selphie with their best
weapons; they have 255% hit rates.
The special part about this island is that you might see a little
Cactuar head that pops out of the desert at random areas. If you run
into it (not with Ragnarok) than you will fight the giant cactuar,
another G.F.

A really huge cactuar. I thought this was a pretty easy battle. My tip
to you is to fight this cactuar at a low a level as you can, since at
level 100 he'll have over half a million HP. Basically, what you want
to do is just constantly pound with limit breaks and G.F. (specifically
Leviathan). Also, the Renzokuken has a different animation for the
cactuar, and I suggest that you see it. He has a lot of HP, but the
only attack that you should worry about is the 10000 needles attack, as
that causes instant death to a character. If it is cast, then I would
revive him.
BIG NOTE: Toward the end of the battle, Jumbo Cactuar will start
'hesitating'(you'll be given a message). This is your cue to start
throwing major cans of whoop ass on the cactuar, because that's a sign
that this thing is about to run away. Use limits and Leviathan to
quickly finish it off.

|Omega Weapon|
-+-+-+-+-+-+
Hey y'all! I found a good strategy to defeat him...all by myself
*GASP*!
For you cheap people out there, if you feel like having an instant win,
I've heard the 'The End'(Selphie's strongest limit) works on Omega! If
you feel like doing it the cheap way, than use this tactic. But
remember, the truly good players don't use ways like this to defeat the
big bosses.
Preparations:
All the fighters should have their strongest weapons.
Everybody should have ability to junction at least to HP, Str, Vit,
Spr, Mag, and Spd. Now, junction:
- Full life to HP
- Meteor / Ultima / Aura to Str
- Regen to Defense
- Meteor / Ultima to Mag
- Reflect to Spr
- Haste to Spd
- 100 death to status defense.
It is recommended that you have at least 80, if not a hundred, of the
specified magics. Having Zell, Squall, and Rinoa is a good party (Rinoa
is an ABSOLUTE requirement) Also, everybody MUST be at 9999 hp. Also,
have everybody have (hopefully) hp + 40 or 80 (to get your HP to 9999)
and have str + 60 , and the last should be probably be Vit + 40, or Spr
+ 40. Str and Hp are first priority, then Vitality (or Spr, tell me
what Terra Break is based on!). If all your characters are at least
level 75, you should be able to get all your HP to 9999, Str above 200,
vit above 130, Mag above 130, and spr above 120.
Now, have two of your characters have one of these abilities: Recover,
Revive. All of your characters should have GF and Magic.
Try to get your compatibility with Cerberus and Eden real high. Put
full life, aura, haste, protect, shell, and curaga at the front of your
magic list.
Now, get set to battle the weapon!!! *NOTE: this is a extremely
difficult strategy, and will piss novice, intermediate, and even expert
players off, but it's the only way to I could find to do without using
Card refining.
At the castle, have one of your parties save at the area right at the
bottom of the winding tower leading to Tiamat and Ultimecia (need move-
find). Now, go back outside the cathedral (this should be the party
that is going to fight omega weapon, by the way) and switch parties.
With the second party, go to the entrance. Now, go up the first set of
stairs. At the 3 way split, go right. Enter the door there, and go down
the stairs. Here, you should see a wire hanging down toward the bottom
left corner of the screen. Pull the wire down, and you'll have one
minute to find Omega weapon.
Go to the green switch spot just north. Switch to the other party. Now,
go back into the cathedral, and the big thing should be there.

The ultimate monster. His attacks are in the extremes. He uses Ultima,
LV 5 death, Meteor, Light Pillar(does 9999 damage to a single
character), Medigo Flame(9998 damage to all characters which is
unblockable), and finally, Terra Break, which does about 15-20 hits for
about 4500 damage. Terra Break can be protected from by protect, but
even with it you'll be lucky to have one character just barely holding
on. Probably harder than the previous weapons from before. Following my
strategy above:
Have Cerberus cast immediately at the beginning of the battle. Now,
cast haste and aura on everybody. After this, just wait. Make sure your
HP stays at 9999; if your characters are damaged, then use Curaga. If
he uses Terra Break, your finished. Have Rinoa ready. When he uses
Medigo Flame, have Rinoa call Angelo. Hopefully, she'll use Invincible
Moon (BTW - If you have wishing star, good luck, since she'll probably
use those attacks more often) With you having aura and only 1HP
remaining, your chance of doing Invincible Moon should be high, but
like I said before, BEWARE!!! If you have other advanced moves (like
wishing star) she'll most likely use that instead. If that's the case,
TRY to have at least one holy war available, and use that instead.
Hope you got all that. Now, when your invincible, you should have aura
on, so just wail at him with limit breaks. Squall should have a high
rate of using Lionheart, and Zell will probably have 12 seconds each
time for his limit break. All Rinoa did for me was invincible moon, so
I guess that if your invincibility fails, then use it again (but since
your at 1 hp, your chance of surviving is not likely). If you can get
in enough hits, you should be able to defeat him before your
invincibility disappears. It took me a few tries, but I eventually did
it. Good luck!

|Getting the G.F.|
+-+-+-+-+-+-+-+-
This is where I will explain how to get each G.F.. I will use their
DEFAULT NAMES throughout the faq.
G.F. LIST
- Quezacotl - Brothers - Pandemona - Bahamut
- Shiva - Diablos - Alexander - Cactuar
- Ifrit - Carbuncle - Cerberus - Tonberry
- Siren - Leviathan - Doomtrain - Eden
SEMI-G.F. List
- Phoenix Use a phoenix pinion during battle
- Mini Mog Learn ability with Mog's Amulet
- Chocobo Use a Gysahl Green
- Odin Find at the Centra Ruins (see CENTRA RUINS in the
SIDE QUESTS section)
- Gilgamesh Receive if you have Odin when you fight Seifer on
Lunatic Pandora
THE G.F. I _ABSOLUTELY_ RECOMMEND YOU TO GET AND WHY, ALTHOUGH I HOPE
YOU GET ALL OF THEM
- Carbuncle It's reflect casting abilities will help
tremendously in some battles.
- Cerberus Double and Triple - All in one...need I say
more?
- Doomtrain Probably the best G.F. in the game, very
high HP and casts almost EVERY status
ailment on all enemies with high success.
- Eden The most damaging G.F. in the game, the
only summon in all of FF history that can
inflict five (yes, FIVE) digit damage (well
except for maybe Cactuar, but lets not talk
about him now). Let's see, at level 100 he
can do 11550 damage. Add SumMag + 40%,
then he does 23100 (remember, SumMag is
cumulative). Now, add boost at max (250%),
and he can do 57750!

Twice the G.F., twice the challenge. This is not a very easy, nor very
hard battle. Think...first of all, if you scan Minotaur, it says that
it will be healed as long as its feet are _on the ground_ so, guess
what will prevent his feet from touching the ground? Cast float on him
and Sacred if this healing is starting to pester you. Basically,
casting protect/shell on your characters will be a big help in the
beginning of the battle. Your strongest G.F. and Tornado (draw from
Thrustaevis outside, or mug windmills and convert them into tornadoes)
are effective enough to attack them with. Eventually, the brothers will
fall. My only caution is Minotaur's Mad Cow Special, which will hurt
you pretty bad. Cast cura or curaga on your characters to recover from
the attack.

If you talk to Cid before going on to the Timber mission, he'll give
you a magic lamp. If you read its description, it says 'to save
before you use it!'. Well, save before you do, and then use it to
enter battle with Diablos. Diablos is one of the two only gravity
magics available for you to use. At first, he won't do very much,
but as he gains levels, he can instantly kill enemies (under 9999
HP, that is). His level determines the percentage of HP an enemy has
taken off. Useful abilities are the Enc-None, HP+, and Ability x3.
Mug is also an extremely useful ability.

As you can see, it would not be a very smart idea to fight him at later
levels, as his statistics are at par with Ultima and even Omega weapon.
I would fight him at a VERY low level, around 10-20 if possible. Even
then, this is still a pretty hard level.
Diablos attack is very high. So, to counter this, cast blind. Also,
cast slow on him. There is a catch...he is susceptible to Gravity
attacks; just draw cast Demi on him until you can easily defeat him
with other attacks.
Diablos attacks with Gravija, which knocks out 3/4 of your character's
HP. At this point, you can either heal yourselves or blast away with
limits. I would heal, and use the Demi strategy, but what you do is up
to you. Good luck!

This is a pretty huge pod. I would recommend having at least two
characters with draw. First of all, the real NORG is hidden behind the
shell. If you can, try and mug the Mag Up and Spr Up from the
right/left pods. It does take awhile. Unless you're really weak, the
pods should not be a problem. If they cast a status effect on you, just
cast Esuna (hoping that you have some in stock). If you don't, then
you'll have to quickly destroy the pod. It isn't that hard. Just cast
all your GFs to destroy it. After it is destroyed, NORG will be out.
NORG has Leviathan, so draw it. He also has draw available, so remember
that too. Now, if you have the chance, mug him for his circlet. After
this, you should be able to easily take care of it with your GF.
NOTE: Does anybody have info on his pod lights? You know, how if you
hit them, it changes colors, and sometimes it doesn't attack depending
on its color? Contribute please!

This can be a fairly difficult battle. Raijin might come in right away
and attack with his Raijin Special, which doe 700-1200 damage to a
single character. This person will most likely almost immediately be

After getting healed up, I would recommend you take out Fujin (the

You receive Alexander by drawing him from Edea when you fight her in
Galbadia garden. Alexander is the strongest of the two holy attacks
in the game. He has one of the most useful skills in the game;
Revive. Revive casts full life on a character at no cost. His
Med LV Up is a ability that is almost absolutely required at later
side quests. He is one of the only GF that has Elem-Def-Jx4.

Defeat Seifer first. Defeat him the same way in which you did the last
battle with him. After this, Edea will be targetable. Make sure you
draw Alexander (after all, what's the point of this strategy if you
don't?). Edea has a powerful gravity attack called Maelstorm, which
also casts curse on you at the same time. If she uses Maelstorm, draw
cast Esuna.
Carbuncle will not work on her. Still, you can blow her away with your
other GF and limits. Diablos will work very well against her if he's at
a high level. Still, she only has 16000 HP, and can easily be defeated
with your GF.

To get this GF, first you need a Solomon Ring. I would recommend you
have the Ragnorok when you try this quest. Anyway, to get the ring,
you need to go to Tears' Point a little east from Esthar. Go to the
very central area and you should see it.
Now, you need 6 of three items: 6 Malboro Tentacles, 6 Steel Pipes,
6 Remedy +. To get the tentacles, go fight Malboros at the Great
Plains of Esthar (pops up VERY rarely) before the Lunar Cry. You
can also fight them at the Island Closest to Hell/Heaven. Fighting
the Malboros can be hell, since their Bad Breath attack inflicts
most status effects on you. To counter this, junction 100 Confuse,
Sleep, and Berserk to you status Defense. Also, make sure you have
Mug. Then, go into battle with the green thing, and mug the
tentacles and RUN!
The steel pipes are found via fighting Wendigos (in barren area
outside of the Deling City) and mug it. To get the Remedy +, buy
60 remedies and use Med LV up to change them into the remedy +.
Doomtrain has one of the most useful GF attacks: Runaway Train. This
inflicts almost every status effect on an enemy; basically, if
they're weak to any one, then it'll be inflicted. He also has BOTH
Elem/St Def-Jx4 (!) and he has an auto-shell ability.

- Bradygames (www.bradygames.com), for making an excellent strategy
guide which gave me the basic stats of the monsters you see before you,
and also helped me out on the item/magic lists.
- Gamefaqs for posting my FAQ.
- Chris Keppler (

'saving' issue on the Tonberry King quest.
- Thanks to Morgan Lewis (?) (
[email protected]) for info regarding to the
chef's knives rumor.
- Thanks to "The Eliminator (
[email protected])" for submitting the
excellent 'second way' on the deep sea research center. This second way
should help most of you out a lot!
- All the people who tried to contribute different things, specifically
help on Omega Weapon and the Tonberry Quest that couldn't get posted.
Thanks for trying...but I already had the info or it was too 'non
explanatory' or didn't have what I needed.
PLEASE PLEASE! Please note that, when I am looking for strategy on
defeating Omega Weapon, I want a way that is fairly inexpensive (as in
cards; no rare card refinement). All my emails submitting info on the
weapon could easily be found elsewhere on the GameFAQs site and the
other web pages.
