This FAQ is for anyone who has Final Fantasy I for the Sony Playstation
and wants to know what all is available after getting the Collections Mode
open. I assume you already know the game, so there are very few actual
strategies in this FAQ. There are already a few at Gamefaqs already made, so
view one of those if you need direction on where to go. The newest updates
will always be at Gamefaqs.

Q: What is "Collections"?
A: Alright, first of all, the Collections is new to the Playstation
version of the game. It is not available in neither the NES/Famicom version
nor the WonderSwan Color version. The Collections is just that, a group of
extras for the player to see if he or she is able to go through the game in a
specific way.

Q: How Do I Open Collections?
A: To open Collections, hit the Triangle button, then choose
Config. Once you are at the Configuration screen, select the option at the
very bottom, Collections.

Q: Collections is Open, But Nothing is There..
A: Of course, if it is your first time through the game, you haven't done
anything yet. In order to get stuff to open in the Collections, you have to go
through the game. As you fight more monsters and open more treasure chests,
their percentages will go up allowing you to open more of the Collections area.
Killing a monster allows you to view it's statistics, opening a chest puts it
into the Item Collection Rate section, and as more monsters are fought and
chests are opened, the Art Gallery will open.
Photograph will not open until you beat the game.
After 'The End' screen appears, you will asked a question with three answers:
Yes
No
Information
Choose Yes, and then save on an empty Memory Card slot. Note: you cannot
save over other game data while saving Clear Data. Make sure you have at least
1 empty slot in a Memory Card.
Once the file saves, above the amount of time taken to beat the game
should appear the words *Clear Data. Now the game should restart at the intro
screen.
Select Load Game, then load up your file with the Clear Data on it. The
game will then ask if you want to play in
Easy Mode or Normal Mode.
*************************IMPORTANT*************************
If you want to open all options/pictures in the Collections, you have to
choose the OPPOSITE Mode that you just beat the game in and saved your Clear
Data. If you beat the game first in Normal Mode, choose to play this time
around in Easy Mode.
I have received an e-mail saying that if you beat the game twice in Easy
Mode, you will get all of the Photo Gallery pictures opened; thus saying that
you don't have to beat the game in Normal Mode at least once and Easy Mode
once. I have not tried it, and I doubt I will. If anyone can confirm this,
that would be great.

Make your party, then go to Config and Collections. Four options should
now appear.

Q: How Do I Open Everything?
A: In order to open everything, you must go through the game (Easy or
Normal Mode), save your Clear Data to the Memory Card, then load the Clear
Data. Start another game on the opposite mode (if you beat the game on Easy
Mode, now you must play through Normal Mode-remember..load the Clear Data then
choose the opposite mode).
Now go through the game again. Your totals will add up in the new Clear
Data. You should have everything IF you killed at least one of every monster
in the game, and opened every treasure chest in combination of the first and
second games. I repeat, you HAVE to fight EVERY monster in combination of BOTH
files, and open EVERY chest in combination of BOTH files.
What I did was I played the game on Normal Mode, and got 100% of the
monsters and 100% of the chests in that game. I then loaded my Clear Data and
played through as fast as I could on Easy Mode, and everything opened. (Gotta
love my 3:36, 12304 step file ^^).
So I repeat again, you have to fight every monster in a combination of
both files, and open all of the chests in a combination of both files (50%
first time, the other 50% the second time works; any combination as long as you
get all monsters and chest in both of the games put together).

Ok, Boku-kun e-mailed me and said he had 97% of monsters but did get all
of the CG art opened after beating the game with both modes (using his Clear
Data for the second time through), so you might only need 100% of all monsters
to open all of the monster art in the Art Gallery section.

Bestiary

Note: When describing the location, (specific area) means you can fight them
on the floor at certain "spiked" spots, certain squares trigger a battle.
Those squares are where you fight them on that specific floor. Please not
that I do not have every possible location of every monster in the game, but
all of the ones provided in here are where I encountered them as I played
through.

The Bestiary contains a picture, experience value, Gil value, HP, Attack
Power, Defense Power, Weaknesses, and Resistances of each enemy. There are 128
monsters in all.
Please note I am including the regular information the game provides in
this mode. Any e-mails harassing me that I forgot so-and-so monster is
weak/strong against this will be ignored.
Also note that the Experience value is divided between the living members
of the party.
While in the list, the R2 button will go down a page, and L2 will go up a
page (7 monsters per page). If you are looking at a monster's info, R2 will go
to the next monster in the list while L2 will go back a monster.

Art Gallery
Some artwork is opened as you defeat the monster that has a sketch, some
do not appear until after you finish the game. All of the artwork should be
drawn by Yoshitaka Amano, but I am only assuming so. If anyone knows any
sketches in the Art Gallery section not drawn by Amano, I will gladly credit
you.
Hit the R2 button to go down a page, and L2 to go up a page when in the
large list screen. While in a picture, X will zoom in and O will zoom back
out. R2 will go to the next picture in your list while L2 will go back one.
Some drawings are from other games in the series, but most are from FF1.

Photo Gallery
Not all of the Photo Gallery pictures are opened until you finish the game
in both modes. All of the photographs are scenes at the very end of the
ending; either a certain part of the game or CG art.

Eagle Eyes: An up-close shot of the Knight/Light Warrior and his sword.

Dragon Lord: Picture of the parent and child dragon looking at each other.

Blaze: A shot of the Knight preparing to slice through the Red Dragon's fire.
Magnificent Glider: The Red Dragon cruising atop the clouds.
The Winner?: Red Dragon on the left, Light Warrior on the right. If there
was a VS in the black stripe going down the center, you'd
think it was a fighting game.
Blue Moon: A nice shot of the night with a purple moon shedding its light
on the land.
Promise of Revenge: The Red Dragon looks up at the starry sky, plotting
a rematch with the Light Warrior.
