FFF             C           The C.E.S. Challenge is essentially a game of

                E           powering up, the mini-walkthrough, copyright
 IIIIIII        S           information, and credits. It still needs a little
   III          C           work though. 8/31/03 28KB
   III          E
   III          S           Version 1.1- Obtained the answer to the 'Shadow
   III          C           issue'; fixed the guide accordingly by adding
   III          E           Starlet to the Forbidden Espers, by adding Cure3
   III          S           to the Forbidden Magic, and by fixing the section
   III          C           on Owzer's House. 9/1/03 31KB
   III          E
 IIIIIII        S           Version 1.2- Tweaked the boss strategies against
                C           Phunbaba and the Tentacles; added the note about
                E           getting a Minerva early (thanks to MeepleLard on
CESCESCESCESCESCES           these); am considering adding a "low level
                            section" (relatively to how I originally did it
                            anyway) to all the boss strategies. 9/28/03 31KB

Version 1.25- Made special note that neither the Ragnarok Esper nor the Cursed
Shield can be acquired within the rules of this challenge (to those of you who
didn't know or weren't sure). 10/5/03 32KB

Version 1.4- Redid the guide's format; added ASCII art ^_^; merged section #1
and section #2 (sort of). 1/3/04 37KB

Version 1.55- Fixed several incredibly stupid mistakes and improved on
other things, all at fear of being lynched >_> <_<. Expect allot of new stuff
coming shortly, particularly the lower level strategies, as opposed to the
strategies up as of now, in which it's obvious there's been massive powering
in the Dino Forest. Judging from what I want and what I have to work with,
this may result in me playing a LLG up to the end of the WoB so that I can get
every drop of potential out of my characters via stat boosts from espers via
leveling. We'll see... Anyway, this update's more of a quick patch-up job to
take care of the most pressing problems. My apologies for not having more;
it's not exactly what I wanted, but it'll have to do until I proceed, which
should be fairly soon. I've finally rectified the difficulties I've been
experiencing on my emulator, so I should be able to do the testing needed for
what I plan soon. I've got allot of stuff to do, especially in my other
guides, so it may take a while for me to get back to this, but I assure you,
I will. 6/28/04 44KB

Version 3.0- Phew. It's been a while, hasn't it? I redid *all* of the boss
strategies (and put them inside some ASCII art while I was at it for
beautification purposes), annhilated the Final Equipment section, changed
the Tools section to the section with a bad name >_>, and gave birth to the
FAQ section. And, to those of you whom I promised ASCII art of a horizontal
Magicite, sorry, but considering all of the ASCII art I've already added,
I fear that throwing in any more will grab the attention and wrath of a
blood-thristy mob howling "KB Hog!"... that, and I don't have a program to
create complex ASCII art, never have, nor do I have teh skill at this present
moment to create such a demanding picture. Anyway, that's it for the major
overhaul. More minor stuff along the way but don't expect too much.
8/14/05 80KB

Version 3.1- Primarily typos remedied. Another thanks to Novalia Spirit for
pointing most of them out as well as for basic strategies for the Magics in
Fanatics' Tower. 10/6/05 81KB

                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                  Section #1- Rules & Advice of the Challenge
                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

-----
Rules
-----

1) I’ve stated this before but let me reiterate- You cannot get any
non-mandatory characters. This means that they cannot be selected in the
character select screen in the World of Ruin (WoR). Only Celes, Edgar, and
Setzer are permitted.

2) However, this does not mean that you can’t make CONTACT with others
characters. Just be sure that this contact does not bring him/her into the
party.

3) All of these rules apply only in the WoR. You can play however you like in
the World of Balance (WoB).

------
Advice
------

1) Attempt this challenge only once you have completed the game normally at
least once, not so much because of difficulty as of spoilers, which I won't
even try to avoid.

2) Take advantage of level up bonuses with espers, learn all the magic you
can, and get espers and better equipment as soon as possible. Obvious stuff
really; I just felt the urge to make note of it. >_>

3) Due to this challenge's easiness and all, I advise (as in, won't recognize
you as having completed the challenge unless you do this) you to avoid the
following:
a) Echo Screen -> Joker Doom
b) Vanish -> Break/Doom/X-Zone/etc. (minus specific exceptions I've marked,
   for good reason)
c) Flame Shields on all -> Merton-spamming
d) 128 MBlock%
e) Over-leveling :P Lv.30-40 is fine. Lv.20ish for the extreme. ;)
f) Save-stating in-battle. I'm fine with save-stating and all, but 1) Doing
   it in-battle is kinda cheap and 2) The former would be understandable if
   this challenge were much, much harder, but it's not. You don't need to
   save-state "in media res", so don't.
g) You don't have to do this one, but starting from the Floating Continent
   isn't a bad idea. >_>

==============================================================================

                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                            Section #2- Espers
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Obviously, you won’t be able to get all the espers due to character
limitations. The following lists which ones you can get (and their locations)
and which ones you can’t.

----------------
Permitted Espers
----------------

Ramuh*
Kirin*
Siren*
Stray*
Ifrit*
Shiva*
Unicorn*
Maduin*
Shoat*
Phantom*
Carbunkl*
Bismark*
Golem: Purchase in Jidoor at the auction house for 20,000 GP after the escape
      from Vector.
Zoneseek: Purchase in Jidoor at the auction house for 10,000 GP after the
         escape from Vector.
Sraphim: Purchase in Tzen from the thief hidden in the trees for 3,000 GP.
        YOU MUST GET SRAPHIM IN THE WoB BECAUSE, IF YOU TRY TO GET
        IT IN THE WoR, YOU WOULD ALSO BE FORCED TO GET SABIN, AND THAT IS
        NOT ALLOWED.
Palidor: On the beach of Solitary Island once you return with the Falcon.
Fenrir: Win the first battle against Phunbaba in Mobliz.
Tritoch: Defeat Tritoch in Narshe.
Terrato: Defeat Umaro in Narshe.
Odin: Touch his petrified body in the Ancient Castle.
Bahamut: Defeat Doom Gaze in the Falcon.
Raiden: Walk 5 steps south of the right chair in the throne room of the
       ancient castle and press X to trigger a secret staircase. Walk down
       the stairs to the right, walk down more stairs and talk to the queen
       statue.
Crusader: Defeat all 8 dragons in the Opera House (1), Mt. Zozo (1), Fanatic's
         Tower (1), Phoenix Cave (1), Ancient Castle (1), Narshe (1), and
         Kefka’s Tower (2).
*: Espers are automatically obtained as part of the story.

----------------
Forbidden Espers
----------------

Starlet: Defeat Chadarnook in Owzer’s House in Jidoor. (can't get this one
        either; thanks to Butterfly Madoushi for clearing up the confusion)
Alexander: Defeat Wrexsoul in Cyan’s Dream at Doma Castle (requires Cyan).
Phoenix: Find Locke in the Phoenix Cave (automatically gains Locke).
Ragnarok: Get from the old man in Narshe’s weapon shop (requires Locke).

==============================================================================

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                             Section #3- Magic
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Out of the 54 magic spells in FF6, you can learn 49 for Edgar and Setzer (50
for Celes). Here they are.

----------------
Obtainable Magic
----------------

Cure, Cure2, Life, Antidote, Remedy, Regen, Fire, Ice, Bolt, Poison, Drain,
Fire2, Ice2, Bolt2, Bio, Flare, Demi, Quarter, X-Zone, Meteor, Quake, W-Wind,
Melton, Scan, Slow, Rasp, Mute, Safe, Sleep, Muddle, Haste, Stop, Berserk,
Float, Imp, Reflect, Shell, Vanish, Haste2, Slow2, Osmose, Warp, Quick,
Dispel.

------------------
Unobtainable Magic
------------------

Cure3- no Starlet or Phoenix
Life2- no Phoenix
Life3- no Phoenix
Pearl- no Alexander; except Celes
Ultima- no Ragnarok [esper] or Paladin Shield

Alright, just a few fairly obvious comments on the spells: obviously, you can
learn allot of them but unfortunately you miss out on some of the best spells.
You lose out on the best healing spell (though, with certain equipment setups,
there are actually better ways to heal >_>), Full Life, Auto-Life, the only
holy-elemental spell available to you (except for Celes), and the ultimate
magic attack.

==============================================================================

                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                             Section #4- Specials
                             ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Totally different from the original "Tools" section but appropriate. Here, I
briefly cover character special capabilities (duh), and stuff you might want
to avoid. As for the name... well, "Characters" didn't exactly fit since it
wasn't fully in-depth, and everything else was either too long or inaccurate,
so forgive the inept title.

!!!!!!!
!Celes!
!!!!!!!

-----
Runic
-----

Ah, Runic. I've never been a big fan since its applications are so far and
inbetween. Runic can indeed absorb any spell, but it can only absorb one,
meaning that you have to keep Runicing for the effect to continue, which is
a big downside. And the MP absorption isn't too great either, considering that
Osmose works better in 99% of scenarios.

The only real application I can think of is on the Third Tier of the final
boss battle, but even then, it's the *third* suggested strategy, meaning there
are (do the math) two superior approaches.

----------------
High Magic Power
----------------

Yeah, Celes easily has the highest Magic Power of the three characters, making
her the ideal mage. So, Gem Box is a must. That's about it. >_>

---------------------------------------------------------------
Genji Glove + Offering + Atma Weapon + Scimitar/Excalibur = Bad
---------------------------------------------------------------

If you were at, say, Lv.50, 60, or anything above that, slapping on the above
equipment set would pretty much yield OTKOs against... oh... ANYTHING! But,
when you're at lower levels (30ish), what at higher levels was immortality
becomes a liability. The damage output isn't that different from other forms
of attack with more defensive equipment, and now you find Celes
surrendering both Hands and both Relic slots to accomodate one command,
leaving poor Celes with very little in terms of defense.

!!!!!!!
!Edgar!
!!!!!!!

-----
Tools
-----

Tool List and Locations
-----------------------
AutoCrossBow: Obtained simultaneously with Edgar ... 250 GP >_>
NoiseBlaster: 500 GP
BioBlaster: 750 GP
Flash: 1000 GP
Debilitator: 5000 GP
Drill: 3000 GP
Chain Saw: Fix Zozo’s Clock in the Inn. The time is 6h10min50sec. Then grab it
          from the chest.
Air Anchor: In the Fanatics' Tower, press X to activate the secret switch
           next to the treasure chest in the first treasure room, then open
           the chest in the newly open room one floor below.

PS: Also, remember to put Edgar in the lead when purchasing tools so that
you can get a discount.

And the Commentary
------------------
Tools quickly become obsolete in the face of high level magic, especially
early WoB Tools. However, Flash retains a little use early on, and Chain Saw's
OHKO ability, the "in one turn" instant-death of Air Anchor, and the "add a
weakness" Debilitator see a few uses.

-----------------
The Dragoon Setup
-----------------

Dragoon Boots + Dragon Horn + *insert high level Lance, e.g. Pearl Lance,
Aura Lance, here* is Edgar's best form of physical damage, and probably one
of the few non-"defense ignoring" physicals you ever use. Nevertheless, good
applications aren't all that common, since magical damage does compare, but
the few uses that continuous Jump (invincible while bouncing :D) offers are
good ones.

---------------------------------------------------------------
Genji Glove + Offering + Atma Weapon + Scimitar/Excalibur = Bad
---------------------------------------------------------------

See Celes.

!!!!!!!!
!Setzer!
!!!!!!!!

-----
Slots
-----

Slots, one of the most underrated abilities in FFVI. Despite the belief of
many casual players, Slots is *not* random and is furthermore completely
controllable. It's all a matter of working the timing. Now, each combination:

7 Flush- 3 Diamonds: Fairly high spell power and hits both sides when pincered
but splits damage. Easy to master and good early on.

Chocobop- 3 Chocobos: Basically a Meteor that can't hit Floating targets. Also
easy to master and better than 7 Flush.

H-Bomb- 3 Airships: Eh, the timing is hard to get and it's sometimes rigged
against you, but it's tier-3 non-elemental damage, making it pretty darn good.

Sun Flare- 3 Dragons: Setzer's best Slot damage, hands down. Basically, a
weaker version of Ultima in damage and a free casting of Bahamut. *Highly
recommended* you use this over Meteor.

Magicite(ish)- 3 Bars: Very similar to Magicite, in that any random summon
(whether you have the Esper or not ~_^) is used. Unreliable really, so avoid
it.

Joker Doom (good version)- 3 "7"s: Unblockable, unavoidable Lv.1 Doom on all
opponents, or automatic victory. Very cheap (thus why it's rigged against
you) indeed.

Joker Doom (bad version)- 2 "7"s and 1 Bar: Unblockable, unavoidable Lv.1 Doom
on all characters *on both sides*. Otherwise, since there's no way to revive
a dead team in this challenge, everyone dies and it's a Game Over. Needless to
say, AVOID IT!

-------
GP Rain
-------

Bluntly, a novelty. You need to surrender Slots (Slots>GP Rain) and a Relic
slot in order to get an ability which throws money = to Setzer's level x 30.
GP Rain doesn't inflict all that much damage *and* eats at your money supply.
Just not worth it.

----------
Fixed Dice
----------

Setzer's best ST damage, no argument there. Its beauty lies in that it ignores
MBlock%, Defense, Row, *and* Offering's split damage. Why? Fixed Dice's damage
is calculated completely differently from regular weapons. Basically, Setzer's
level * 2 * roll on Dice #1 * roll on Dice #2 * roll on Dice #3 = its damage.
Otherwise, a the damage ranges from twice Setzer's level to 9999 (providing
your level is at least 24 >.>). Combined with Quick and Offering, Fixed Dice
x8 becomes a lethal, unstoppable force... or a small, little poof. But the
chance of it destroying everything makes it all worthwhile.

==============================================================================

                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                          Section #5- Powering Up
                          ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Once you get the Falcon, you can begin to power up. The best way to go about
this is to first learn every spell in the game that you can. The Cactrot enemy
in the desert near Maranda provide 10 Magic Points each, and, providing you
can hit one, this is the most expedient method by which to learn magic. In
addition, your actual level remains the same (as Cactrots yield 0 EXP. and
you can Warp from everything else).

Once you've learned all the spells you can, you *could* head to the
forests on the northeastern to fight the dinos for experience. But...
considering that you won't need that high a level to complete this challenge,
you shouldn't stay too long. Esper bonuses? Almost exclusively Tritoch and
Zoneseek. Only notable exceptions might be a couple levels for Bismark or
Raiden on Edgar, if you're ****-bent on a physical (dragoon?) Edgar.

Brief stat and strats:

**********************************************************************
*Cactrot- Lv.27 HP-3 MP-60000 ELEMENT-None WEAK-Ice,Water REWARD-Soft*
*(sometimes)                                                         *
**********************************************************************

Strategy: With 3 HP, the Cactrot doesn't seem that difficult an opponent.
However, to compensate for his less than high HP, the little guy's enormous
Defense, Magic Defense, and MBlock% make him a tough bug to squash, so use
anything that ignores the three (e.g. Tools, Dice/Fixed Dice, Meteor, and
Atma Weapon + Sniper Sight all for a quick kill).

**********************************************************
*Tyranosaur- Lv.57 HP-12770 MP-420 ELEMENT-None WEAK-Ice *
*REWARD-Imp Halberd (sometimes)                          *
*Bracosaur- Lv.77 HP-46050 MP-51420 ELEMENT-None WEAK-Ice*
*REWARD-Economizer (sometimes)                           *
**********************************************************

Strategy: To be honest, I'd prefer you all not take any of these guys on, but,
if you must, I'll let you Vanish/Doom them. With Meteor and Bite from the
Tyranosaurs and Ultima, Disaster, and Sneeze from the Bracosaur, just about
any other approach is suicide. But please, don't stay in the forest long. =/
You don't want to become too strong.

==============================================================================

                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                       Section #6- Mini-Walkthrough
                       ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Before I begin I would like to note that this is not a full walkthrough of
the game because: 1) you can't do everything anyway because of the
limitations, 2) this challenge is related to the WoR not the WoB, 3) I advised
challengers to play the game through normally first anyway for additional ease
as well as familiarity with the game and its environments. This walkthrough
will simply point out places you should go, things you should do, bosses you
should fight. In fact, this guide will mostly contain boss strategies.

A few notes: to avoid sounding redundant, in boss strategies, 'healing when
necessary' will be implied; read the boss strategies before you fight the boss
because some parts of the strategy might mandate changing or doing something
before the battle. For those of you wondering, only boss enemies of decent
difficulty or length will merit a full strategy (equipment, damage listings,
ASCII art). Finally, assume that the row a character is in is the Back Row,
unless I explicitly say so otherwise.

Treasures: None (for now anyway)

After the fish-feeding sequence and the raft ride, you will appear on the
coast of the central continent near Albrook.

There's not much to do here. Buy some equipment or items and proceed north
past Kefka's Tower and east onto the Serpent Trench. DO NOT ENTER TZEN. Doing
so will start the sequence to get Sabin. If you didn't get Sraphim before,
you can't get it now. Sorry. Anyway, head east and then north on the Serpent
Trench to reach Mobliz.

Enhancers for Celes and Edgar and Diamond Shields for everybody! Once you find
Gerad (Edgar), follow through with the story until you ride the boat to South

Treasures: None

Head northwest from Figaro Castle to enter Kohlingen. Get Setzer and, after
the cutscene, head southwest to Darill's tomb. If you need supplies, head to
South Figaro/Figaro Castle where you can get a discount with Edgar in the
lead. The shops there have everything you could get in Kohlingen... except
Setzer's weapons... >_> Although, all you'll really need is a Diamond Armor
for Setzer.

chest nearby, you will find the Presenter. Cast Break on his head or summon

After getting Fenrir, go to Nikeah at the other end of the Serpent Trench.

---------------
Solitary Island
---------------

Treasures: (Now there's something)

On the beach where you found fish to feed Cid, you'll now find Palidor. From
here, have all your characters learn every spell they can via Cactrots in the
Maranda desert. Next, make a quick Kefka's Tower raid, having the first party
grab Fixed Dice before you Warp out (Note: Although the only way you can get
out of most of the battles alive involves Vanish/Doom on the SrBehemoths and
then Warping from the battle, if you don't want the experience.
Understandable, yes?)

---------------
Triangle Island
---------------

Treasures: Genji Armor, Magical Brush, Fake Mustache, Ether, Red Jacket,
          Zephyr Cape, Hero Ring, Tack Star, Thunder Shield

Get sucked in by the Zone Eaters on the northeastern island to enter Gogo's
lair. Inside, you'll find a huge number of treasures. Just be sure not to
speak to Gogo. Vanish/Doom on Outsiders and then Warp is the only way to avoid
their experience.

--------------------
Jidoor/Owzer's House
--------------------

Treasures: Moogle Suit, Relic Ring, Potion, Ether, Remedy

If you didn't get them before, you can now buy Golem and Zoneseek at the
Auction House. You can enter Owzer's House and pick up the treasures, but
you can't fight Chadarnook and can't pick up Starlet.

Treasures: Safety Bit, Air Anchor, Genji Shield, Stunner, Force Armor, Gem Box

Fanatics' Tower is rough. Wall Rings all the way, of course, and stock up on
99 Tinctures before setting foot on the first level. Cast Float on everyone
the instant you reach the second level (death by Quake = bad) and be prepared
to switch in Flame Shields at any point on the highest levels (death by
Merton = bad). Regardless, you can't protect against Meteor and W Wind, which
will tear you apart allot. Thank God for the idiocy of Lv.80 and Lv.90 Magics
casting Life3 on you. In general, Lv.60 and Lv.90 Magics will instill the
most fear in you. The others? They're usually easily enough dispatched, albeit
requiring a long time.

Update: Thanks to Novalia Spirit, here are some strategies against the

Splitting into 2 parties with only 3 characters will really weaken you.
Fortunately, fighting them isn't the idea, unless you're forced to *shakes

MBlock%) while Edgar and Setzer shall become Party #2.

Undoubtedly be the toughest level in the challenge. Not only
must you split into 3 parties of 1, but you must also face enemies stocked up
with unblockable death and status attacks (even with Ribbon on). Therefore,
I offer one and only one recommendation: RUN! You could duke it out with
the hoards of enemy forces just itching for a chance to sneak in a grossly
unfair Game Over, but, obviously, it's just not worth the risk.

Once you're ready, land on Kefka's Tower. Edgar will form Party #1, Setzer
Party #2, and Celes Party #3. The assignments seem to work out perfectly. ;)

Strategy: Enter Dragoon Edgar! I had a vague plan of the idea to begin
with, but, I wasn't quite sure it would actually top his Flare damage with
his mage equipment (2000+ BTW). Fortunately, it does, although I did quite
a few calculations in my head to be sure O_o (I won't bother writing out
everything; it's simply too much, and I'd probably forget something
anyway. Instead, if you have any questions about it, ask about the damage
figures on individual scenario bases. Keep reading for additional info
on... um... stuff that might remotely be related to your question.
>_> <_<), and that was only at its minimum potential (as in, only two Jump
hits). Each Jump hits for ~4000 damage (surprising for a character who has
hitherto been nothing but a mage, ain't it?), or ~8000 damage, and each
time holding the potential for up to a maximum of ~22000 damage (4 attacks
of ~4000 + a Pearl of ~6000), or ~44000 damage (!) within the span of a
single Quick! Granted, the probability of that happening is **** low, but
the chances of minor bolsterings of the bare ~16000 per Quick is
nevertheless appealing. However, you'll usually only hit for ~8000 per
Quick, as an Osmose is needed every other turn to maintain Edgar's MP, and
a Cure2 usually needs to be chucked in as well to compensate for Doom's
damage, which, all in all, could have been worse. Physical hit for ~800
(post-Safe, mind you, although you're probably safer with a Golem
summoning too), and Absolute 0/Ice3 for ~400. Pretty much it there;
nothing too bad. Your only fears should be: 1) He Force Fields
Pearl-elemental screwing you; 2) More importantly, N. Cross connects

stick to the basic attack sequence: Flare (~3500-~4000) + Quick + Flare x2
+ Flare/Stop + Osmose, and you'll be fine.

The final battle is now! Prepare your equipment, save the game with Celes at
the final save point, and have your three characters step on the three
switches to initiate the spectacular cutscene and final battle!! >_> </double
exclamation point!>

Strategy: Your first option is Fenrir or Golem against Calmness, so that
you don't have to worry about losing a character. But, if you'd prefer not
to summon (or just plain forgot the esper >.>), you can do one of the
following (preferably the first for its superiority in dependability over
the second): "I had two plans here to completely avoid Calmness wiping
away a character from the last battle, the former of which I went with.
The first involved me Rasping (C~300/ES~200)/Osmosing away Girl's MP so
that she couldn't cast Life2 when I defeated Sleep. Sleep's resistance
wasn't too bad: a Cure 2 made up for W Wind to prevent death from any
following attacks (which inflicted minimal damage but still I needed a
little HP restoration to survive them; although the random Condemneds
ticked me off), and Merton was welcome. After Girl's MP was nuked, I
Flared Sleep 'til his death (no Fixed Dice, I couldn't run the risk of
killing Girl). Girl too then met her end via Fixed Dice x8. >_> One more
thing: That "second" plan I briefly noted in passing. I planned to
near-kill Sleep (Girl alive), leave Celes waiting, kill Sleep with Edgar
or Setzer, and have Celes Runic every Life2 while Edgar and Setzer slay
Girl. Kinda risky though, so I stuck with the first." ~Me *too lazy to
change that block of text into a laid-out strategy for you* :P

Strategy: The last hurrah! Woot! Flares, Fixed Dice x8, hold nothing back,
and all that other suspense-raising lingo! Onto Kefka: HyperDrive (~3500)
and Havoc Wing (~5500) are both OHKOs, Goner hit ~400 on all, tier-3
elementals around there too >_> (except on Celes). Ultima can blow all of
your party away for ~2000, all but Edgar, clinging to life with but 200
HP (Good thing for the Muscle Belt plus, yay, Edgar finds his purpose :D).
Eh, I didn't bother to check Meteor. Its damage yield would be less than
Ultima's (ergo, survivable) and chances are you won't even encounter it
anyhow.

               Section #7- Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
               ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: What is the lowest level at which this challenge can be completed?
A: Honestly, I can't be sure, since I never played this through as a "LLCESG",
but, if I had to guess, I'd say around Lv.20. Given the single character
parties at times and the limitations on spells and equipment, playing through
at the absolute lowest level, 6, would get the party thoroughly annihilated.
Q: Palth, what is this "Echo Screen -> Joker Doom" you keep talking about?
A: Fair enough question. The Slots command is often set-up in order to make
sure that you can't hit certain slot combinations. However, due to a
glitch/bug, when you use an Echo Screen in battle, the lock on the Slots is
disabled, and you can hit any combination (namely, the unblockable Lv.1 Doom
on all opponents). Once you master the timing, it's very cheap, thus the
advisory not to use it. The only catch is, it doesn't work 100% of the time,
and the game will just outright refuse to let it work on some occasions.
                            Section #9- Credits
                            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Thanks to Square for making this great game.

Thanks to GameFAQs and Neoseeker for featuring this C.E.S. Challenge Guide.

I want to thank the bonus mode in the PSX remake for providing me with some
enemy data that I couldn't get.

Thanks also goes to Nintendo's Player's Guide for Final Fantasy III for
providing all the items in an area (though, due to limitations, you couldn't
get all the items anyway).

I would like to thank my brother Mark who, as far as I know, was the one who
first thought up this challenge.

Huge thanks to Butterfly Madoushi for answering the Shadow issue and
informing me that you can't get Starlet. It saved allot of time for me.

Kudos to MeepleLard for the tips on... um... put succinctly, ALLOT of stuff,
to say the very least. There's no way I could have spotted by myself the
sheer number of possible improvements Meeple found. Then again, this is my
first FAQ, so it's... almost understandable that I made that many mistakes.
>.>

Similarly, thanks to assassin17, Novalia Spirit, and ArmorVil001 for any and
all help rendered in my "Paltheos' CES Rebuff- Take 6" topic on the GameFAQs
FFIII(U.S.) General Board.

*sends out another thanks* This one's to Terii Senshi, for a few algorithms
drawn from his guide. Although, >_> to be fair, a couple of the simpler
algorithms I figured out by myself through observation.

The inquisition about the Cursed Shield from crzyfreak1028 reminded me to
make note about being unable to get both the Ragnarok esper AND the cursed
shield. Thanks. Sorry, everybody, that was just gross negligence on my part
to forget about that.

Finally, if any one has any questions or comments about this guide
please e-mail me at [email protected]

Until next time, this has been Paltheos, wishing you good luck and happy
gaming.
