I assume you are already quite familiar with the game.  If you are not,
please consult the game manual or one of the other CT guides on GameFAQs (I
suggest The Mynock’s).

This guide goes in-depth on the Techniques in Chrono Trigger.  There is
detailed information on each technique, plus some tips to help you get the
most out of them.

Most Single Techniques are learned by winning tech. points after a battle.
Talk to Spekkio at the End of Time to learn Crono's Lightning, Marle's Ice,
Lucca's Fire, and Frog's Water.  When (and if) Magus joins your party, he
will already have Lightning 2, Ice 2, and Fire 2.

In the game, a technique with a star indicates a magic spell, a yellow one
can be used out of battle, and the gray one is the next one that character
will learn.

For each rock, I’ll list where it can be found, who must be holding it, the
Triple Tech. it invokes, and how exactly to get it.

White Rock        Location:         Black Omen (12000 BC, 600 AD, or 1000 AD)
                 Who:              Marle, Lucca, or Ayla
                 Triple Tech.:     PoyozoDance
After defeating TerraMutant, look in the chest on the left.

Black Rock        Location:         Kajar (12000 BC)
                 Who:              Marle, Lucca, or Magus
                 Triple Tech.:     DarkEternal
Open the water, wind, and fire books (in that order).  The Black Rock is in
the secret room that will open.

Gold Rock         Location:         Denadoro Mts. (600 AD)
                 Who:              Frog
                 Triple Tech.:     Grand Dream
After you restore the Northern Ruins, start walking through the Denadoro Mts.
You’ll come to a Free Lancer that is throwing rocks.  With Frog in the lead,
get hit by a rock.  He’ll catch it, and it will transform into the Gold Rock.

Blue Rock         Location:         Giant's Claw (600 AD)
                 Who:              Lucca, Robo, or Magus
                 Triple Tech.:     Omega Flare
In the large C-shaped cave, there is a partially hidden treasure chest just
north of the door in the bottom right corner.  The Blue Rock is inside the
chest.

SilverRock        Location:         Laruba Ruins (65000000 BC)
                 Who:              Frog, Robo, or Ayla
                 Triple Tech.:     Spin Strike
After saving Crono, talk to the Nu that offers to change the lead character's
name.  Then the Nu will just give it to you.

inflict the more damage with your techniques.

(  Miscellaneous Tips  )

- As with any RPG, you should protect your White Magician as best as
 possible, especially in those long and difficult boss fights.  Chrono
 Trigger is no exception.  Equip Marle with a PrismDress (reduces magic
 damage by 1/3), a SafeHelm (reduces physical damage by 1/3), and a GoldErng
 (increase max HP by 50%).  Keeping your White Magician alive is the key to
 winning any battle.  With Cure, Cure 2, and Life 2, Marle should focus on
 healing her comrades.  And in case she falls in battle, use the other two
 party members to revive her to full HP as soon as possible.
- For additional Magic Tabs and other items, defeat Spekkio at the End of
 Time in each of his five forms.
