me for it, and I think I will grant it to you...
One of the best soccer games I've ever seen, if you don't compare it
with some "serious" soccer games. You can play with all your stars, from
Gino Hernandez up to the new Japan player, Aoi Shingo. You start by
playing the already known final between Germany and Japan (unexpectedly,
an easy game, if you know how to play), after wining it you see a small
anime sequence in which Tsubasa thanks everyone (including an "old
friend"), and so on (look carefully when you play to Holland because at
the end you'll see a fantastic movie in which the real captain of that
team shoots at goal and leaves everyone amazed) up to the end of game,
in which you will have to play against the team of the World (? Isn't
Japan part of the world or what ? Whatever...). There's just a small
problem about the game, it is very short... :-( If you know how to play
good and you don't quit, you may finish it in less than 5 hours, just be
very careful with R.J.7 (Real Japan 7), they are ALWAYS hard to defeat;
however, it is possible to win with Hyuga and the others (the first time
you fight them), you'll receive a special movie in which you really
tease the opponent! :-P

This manga talks about a boy who enjoys playing soccer more than anything in
his life. The story starts when he moves into a new city, where he meets
Ishizaki and the great goalkeeper Genzo Wakabayashi from the Shutetsu school,
the champion of Japan. After a individual confrontation between them, Tsubasa
meets Roberto Hongo, which will be his coach, and we assist to the great game
"Nankatsu vs. Shutetsu". In the middle of the game Taro Misaki arrives and he
will form the "Golden Combination" with Tsubasa, ending the game by 2-2.
Together they will play on a new team, Nankatsu (yeah, the same name but a
different team) and come up to the national championship, where they start by
losing against Meiwa (with Kojiro Hyuga and Takeshi Sawada in it) by 6-7, they
win to Tachibana Twins’ Hanawa (those two had a really strange but original way
of playing) by 3-2, to Nakanishi’s Naniwa by 5-1 and to Jun Misugi’s Mushashi
(he was really good, but had heart problems) by 5-4. So, the finals will be...
"Nankatsu vs. Meiwa" (again!), but this time it will be even more interesting
since both team have new goalkeepers, as Ken Wakashimazu for Meiwa and
Wakabayashi for Nankatsu (he was hurt, so he hadn’t play up to now; this will
be his last game, since he is going to Germany to became a professional
player), finishing this very long game by 4-2, Nankatsu winning. I shall
mention Nankatsu’s first goal, in which Misaki (this was his last game too,
since his father was going to move to another place) and Tsubasa shoot at the
same time, using an impressive technique that will be called "Twin Shot".
The story continues 2 years from that championship, during this time Tsubasa
won two other times the national championship and tries to win a third time,
feat never achieved by anyone else. After playing against Azuma-ichi, a team in
which a really rough player named Sõda plays (he damages Tsubasa), they play
against some old pals, like Hanawa (Tachibana twins used a new technique called
Skylab) and Tsubasa finally master a shot that will be his special, the Drive
Shot, against the giant Hiroshi Jito, who played for Hirado. On the finals they
play against Toho, a team from Tokyo in which Hyuga, Wakashimazu and Takeshi
now play. Well... sort of, the coach didn’t want Hyuga to play but he did it
after all, using his special, Tiger Shot. After another long game, it finishes
in a tie (4-4), being both teams called winner (in this national tournament
there aren’t any penalty kicks in the end of the games)...
Now the best players will go into the national team in order to play in an
international tournament in France. After some preparation matches, one of
which against Wakabayashi and Karl Heinz Schneider (the "Kaiser" of European
Soccer, both playing for Hamburg SV), they win to Italy and their "Perfect
Keeper" Gino Hernandez by 2-1 and to Argentina (with "soccer prodigy" Diaz and
his friend Pascual, Diaz was surely impressive but Japan's team work made them
win). After wining to France in the penalty kicks (5-4), they will finally play
to Germany, which includes Schneider (the "Kaiser"), Kartz, Magas (or Margus, I
prefer using the first one since it sounds me better), Schester and Dutter
Muller (a giant keeper), and they win by 3-2. Tsubasa goes to Brazil, to play
for San Paulo FC with his old coach from the times of early Nankatsu, Roberto
Hongõ. And this is where the first set of manga’s finish, after 37 chapters...
0.2 Story of Captain Tsubasa World Youth
This set of 18 chapters starts with the presentation of a new japanese
character named Aoi Shingo, who becomes a fan of Tsubasa after his team being
beaten by Nankatsu (Tsubasa's old team in Japan), so he goes to Italy in order
to be a better player. After much trouble, he gets to join Inter Milan, whose
goalkeeper is Gino Hernandez, who becomes Shingo's friend. Then, we get to see
the brazillian championship's final, Tsubasa against the brazillian prodigy,
Carlos Santana, who (like Tsubasa) is also able to learn some of the opponent's
techniques. At the same time, a plot from Gamo (a coach that now appears) is
unveiled... He made a team of seven players (Real Japan 7, if you are
wondering) that would confront the japanese nation team (split in 3 groups of 7
players), and if those last ones lost, 7 players would be thrown out of the
team. Sadly, they lost, so Hyuga, Misaki, Jitõ, Sõda, Nitta, Masao and Kazuo
Tachibana are thrown out of the team and Wakashimazu also leaves the team (he
says he doesn't want to be just a replacement for Wakabayashi), making harder
to Japan getting a win in the coming event, Asian Cup. With the help of Tsubasa
(that came back from Brazil) they manage to win the first two matches, but they
have a hard time against Thailand, since the 3 Konsawatto brothers are really
good at aerial soccer and Shinpurasu Bunnark (a tough defender who uses his
Muay-Thai skills in the field) can hurt Tsubasa, making him not able to attack.
Luckly, Wakabayashi arrives when the score was 4-1, and although he can't catch
any balls (he had both hands broken, due to shots of Levin and Cruyfford) he
manages to stop all of the opponent's shots, Shingo also appears and his
combinated moves with Tsubasa make Japan being able to win this match by 5-4.
During that time, the 7 players that were thrown out were training hard in
order to get new techniques, so Hyuga manages to develop one of the best shots
ever seen, the Rayju (if you are wondering, it is a thunder related beast from
japanese mythology) Shot. Due to those new techniques those players can (this
time) defeat R.J.7 and enter the national team in order to play in the Asian
Cup. They beat teams like Saudi Arabia (from whose captain, the prince Mark
Owaiaran, appears to be one of the best defenders ever), China (with a player
named Shõ that is able to counter most shots with his "Dragon Counter Shot")
and South Korea. By doing so, they get to join the World Cup (for players less
than 20 years old)... They start by playing against Mexico, whose great
goalkeeper, Ricardo Espadas, was able to stop Hyuga's Rayju Shoot, but despite
the difficulties they manage to beat them by 2-1. Against Uruguay, they have
another hard match, mainly because Ryoma Hino (the "Japanese Bomber", one of
R.J.7's players, who had double nationality) is also playing and his Tornado
Shot is great, finally they beat it by 6-5. Against Italy they have an easy
match since both Hernandez and Salvatore Gentile ("European Libero One") were
hurt due to Hino's Tornado Shot, and they win 4-0. On the quarters of final
they get to play against Sweden, who had great players like Larrson,
Fredericks, Brolin (a good defender who manages to stop Hyuga's Rayju Shot) and
Levin (yep, the same player who had injured Wakabayashi), but due to the
appearence of the impressive defender Akai Tomeiya (replacing Matsuyama, his
mate Fujisawa was in the hospital), who stops every of Levin's Levin Shot
(yeah, he has a technique with his name ^_^ ) they win 1-0. In the Half Finals
they get to play against Holland, their captain Brian Cruyfford (the other
player that injured Wakabayashi) was playing but UNFORTUNATELY we don't get to
see the match, for some "not interesting" reason, we only know that they won
1-0. Finally, they get to the World Cup's finals and they will be playing
against....... Brazil, whose coach is Roberto Hongo (Tsubasa's old coach at
Japan and Brazil), who says that Tsubasa wouldn't be able to win this time.
After a first half time in which Brazil was surely better than Japan, Santana
is able to score a goal to Wakabayashi. Japan counter with a great Twin
Overhead Shot by Tsubasa and Misaki's Golden Combination and even score another
goal with Seiki Rayju Shot (in which Rayju is used as a pass and Tsubasa and
Misaki shoot with a Twin Shot). When the match was almost over, Roberto uses
his secret player named Naturezza, who is even able to score a goal to
Wakabayashi FROM OUTSIDE THE GOAL AREA (!), making a tie. On the extra time the
hard match continues, but at the end Tsubasa finishes by surpassing the great
player Naturezza and scores a goal, making Japan win the World Cup (for player
that have less than 20 years old). We also get to know that Sanae and Tsubasa
get married and this last one goes to play for Barcelona, a spanish team, and
all the other players join other teams, mainly those of J-League, but some
(like Hyuga, who will play for Juventus) continue to play in their teams, like
Akai Tomeiya... And that's how those chapters of the manga finish.

0.10 Players' data
All the data in this section was taken from the amazing book "Captain Tsubasa
3109 days perfect data", by Yoichi Takahashi. I didn't just made it up or
something like that, all this was translated directly from the book, hope you
like it! ;) I'll only be referring the data that is given, so don't think I'll
cover EVERY player... The data is formatted like this:
Player Name
Country: his country
Position: his position
Technique: his technique, from 1 to 5
Speed: his speed, from 1 to 5
Mentality: his mentality, from 1 to 5
Body: his physical skills, from 1 to 5
Imagination: his imagination, from 1 to 5
Tactics: his tatic skills, from 1 to 5
Teams: the teams he played for (not including national teams)
If it has less data than that, it means that the info isn't given about that
player, maybe i'll add them in next versions of this faq (except for the stats,
which i WON'T SURELY ADD).
Ozora Tsubasa
Country: Japan
Position: MF
Technique: 4,5
Speed: 4
Mentality: 4,5
Body: 4
Imagination: 5
Tactics: 4
Teams: Nankatsu, San Paulo, Barcelona
All the data in this section was taken from the amazing book "Captain Tsubasa
3109 days perfect data", by Yoichi Takahashi. As you may think I will only
cover the data from that book, so I may not talk about every team or every
player... Also, my translation may not be very good, sorry about that, my kanji
skills are not very good... The data is formatted like this:
Team: Name of the team
Tatic: The main tactic of that team
Attack: The teams' attack, from 1 to 5
Technique: The teams' technique, from 1 to 5
Stamina: The teams' stamina, from 1 to 5
Defense: The teams' defensive skills, from 1 to 5
Group work: The abillity to work together, from 1 to 5
Pass: The passing skills of the players, from 1 to 5
GK. players of that team,
2. only for the ones that
3. appear reffered in the
12. book
If you have the ball "X" will make you shoot and square can be used to
pass. If you don't have the ball, "X" will perform a tackle to the
opponent player and square will block the opponent (again, you may get a
foul, but in this game you may get a yellow or red card). In both of
them circle will make you run (careful because you'll lose "energy"
faster) and triangle can be used to perform some unusual tactics, like
to put all the team tackling (if you don't have the ball and you see the
word "chance" on screen) or something else.
If you want to use all those fantastic special shots, just watch the
menu that appears before the game, it lets you see how to perform those
specials. For a most regular one (as Tsubasa's Drive Shot, Hyuga's Tiger
Shot, Schneider's Fire Shot, or the keeper's special catches) just press
L1 and R1 at the same time. For the others, just press R1 and quickly
input the command I told you can get at the menu. Maybe I'll post all
the specials here later...
2.~ Walkthrough
Prologue
1 ----------- All Japan vs Germany
An easy level... Try to use your team's specials, mainly Tsubasa's Drive
Shot and Hyuga's Tiger Shot since they are the best you have. Soda's
Kamisori Shot can also score sometimes. If you can catch the opponent's
special shots almost all the time, just concern about those shots from
Karl Heinz Schneider since Wakabayashi may not be able to stop all of
them. If you can't seem to win, you should also try using
Tsubasa/Misaki's Twin Shot, since it is quite good.
Chapter 1
2 ----------- Inter Milan vs AC Milan
The first match of Aoi Shingo, easy because you also have Gino Hernandez
in your team (GK). You start by loosing 1-0 at half-time, so I believe
you should just pass the ball to Shingo and use his special. Mateo's,
one of your team's midfielders is also quite good, his special shot may
be used to score sometimes! :)
3 ----------- Inter Milan vs Juventus
Now, you will be fighting against a new Italian player named Gentile,
who will be Shingo's rival. Mateo's special shots isn't very good here,
so try passing the ball to Shingo and use his special, your GK Gino
Hernandez is surely good enough to stop Gentile's special shots.
Depending in the result of this match the story may change a little, but
I don't think it will matter in the end... either way, you can win with
Shingo's special shot and also by using his new shot...
Chapter 2
4 ----------- San Paulo FC vs CR Flamengo
Carlos Santana... I guess this is a hot match, since most of the times
you score and they will tie, Santana's special (which looks like a
overhead shot) is unbeatable. Use Tsubasa's Drive Shot for scoring all
the time, since the opponent GK isn't very good at all, neither is your.
What you have to do is is "breaking the cicle", I mean defend really
hard so that Santana won't score every time you do. Mainly, you should
put a player from the bench into the field, I mean switching any
defensive player for no.14, who is on your bench, he is very good.
Chapter 3
5 ----------- Japan vs Street Team?
This team uses essentially a "Death Crash" special, Wakashimazu can't
stop it so you must try to score as many times as you can. Hyuga's
special shots are a sure goal but you should also use Nitta and Soda to
try to score as many goals as you can.
6 ----------- All Japan vs Holland
The first real match, the boy who is watching is Holland's real captain,
Brian Cruyfford (he isn't playing because he thinks Japan isn't a match
for him). Use Hyuga's Tiger Shot and Tsubasa's Drive Shot to score. You
should also use all the other players to defend, then this level will be
easy... Wakashimazu is able to stop every of the opponent shots, so you
should try to score as much as you can, as soon as you can. ^_^
Chapter 4
7 ----------- Japan 1 vs R.J.7
Hyuga, Masao and Kazuo Tachibana, Jito, Misaki, Soda, Nitta and Morisaki
against 7 of the best japanese players. It is possible to win, but
careful because they are a lot faster than you and they push you almost
all the time! To score, try using Hyuga's Tiger Shot, like in the anime
he is the only one who can score a goal to that great and bald (...) GK,
Yamada. Be careful with Hino's Dragon Shot and Yumikura's Drive Shot
since they are realy good and Morisaki will never be able to stop it.
8 ----------- Japan 2 vs R.J.7
Just skip it by pressing "X".
9 ----------- Japan 3 vs R.J.7
You may skip it too, by pressing "X".
10----------- Japan vs San Paulo FC
Tsubasa will arrive to the training field in Japan and he will see all
his mates tired... But either way, they will have to play... In this
match, as you already know they will just have one character with a
special shot (now that Tsubasa is out of the team), but they are somehow
hard. Use Tsubasa's Drive Shot as near as possible from their keeper but
you can also score by using Matsuyama's Eagle Shot since it is quite
good, even from a long distance.
11----------- Japan vs Tai Pei
A really easy match, I don't believe you will need any help, just use
Tsubasa's Drive Shot and Matsuyama's specials, since they are the best
players you have by now...
12----------- Japan vs Street Team?
LOL... It appears some of this team's players are Tsubasa fans! :P This
is the same team you fought back in level 5, just use Tsubasa and
Matsuyama's shots since they are the best you have by now. Morisaki
isn't very good as a GK, so you must try to stop their main players by
tackling them with the rest of your players, remenber that you should
just use Tsubasa and Matsuyama ONLY to strike with their specials.
13----------- Japan vs Thailand
Before half-time, just strike with Tsubasa and Matsuyama as usual. At
half time you will get 2 new players, Shingo and Wakabayashi, so just
put them in play (switch Wakashimazu for Wakabayashi and Kisugi for
Shingo). Now, you should also use Shingo's specials to score since he is
a really good player. Don't bother much about defending, if you can use
it well Wakabayashi's special catch is more than enough for the
opponent's shots (mainly because they just don't use their triple
combinations, unlike in the anime). Bunnark isn't very good (also,
unlike in the anime), don't be very worried about him since he is just a
normal defending player, he won't play rough with you or something like
that...
14----------- Japan 1 vs R.J.7
This time, you MUST win. It MAY require some level ups so that you can
do it past this level, mainly you should use Soda, Hyuga and Nitta's
specials to score and all the others to defend, may be a hard match
essentially because you have one of the Tachibana brothers as a
goalkeeper. '^_^ You may have noticed that every of your players will
get new specials, this may be a good opportunity to try them all...
Hyuga's Raiju Shoot will do the trick, as well as Soda's Double Kamisori
Shot and Misaki's Drive Shot.
15----------- All Japan vs "World"
HOT! You'll play against the best players in the world, which include:
Schneider (from Germany, of course), Pascual and Diaz (from Argentina),
Pierre and Napoleon (from France), some players from Thailand, Gentile
(from Italy) and their GK, Gino Hernandez (... from Italy). You'll
surely have to build up some levels before managing to win. Use Tsubasa,
Shingo, Hyuga and Soda's specials to shoot and all the others to defend,
be careful because not even Wakabayashi can stop most of opponent's
shots and their GK is really good, he will stop your specials most of
the time. After a lot of work, I believe you will be able to win, so
just watch the ending sequence (It isn't good at all). :-/
3.~ Extra Teams
If you beat the story mode you will get more teams you can use on the
other modes, I'm not sure if the difficulty level matters or not, but I
don't believe so. For those lazy ones, when you see the initial "Press
Start" just press (on controller 2) square, triangle, circle, X, L2, R2
and Start at the same time, this way you will easily get all the teams
to play in some modes... This code is handy when you give a party and
people want to play a championship! ^_^
4.~ Do you want to see Holland's Real Power?
To see the real Holland Youth team, just pick that team in any of the
modes and exchange any "unuseful" player (the ones who don't have any
special) for Brian Cruyfford, his shots are amazing, but not very
powerful at all :-P.
5.~ Questions
Question: Do I need to win every match in order to get the extra teams
after finishing the game?
Answer: No! Either way, it would be really difficult to win the 3 first
matches against R.J.7 ...
Question: Can we play against Holland with Cruyfford on the field?
Answer: Only on the Vs. Mode, just have the other player put him in the
field!
Question: Can we play against Brazil or any other teams from the Captain
Tsubasa world youth?
Answer: Unfortunately, no. This game is based on the anime, so you can't
play against many of the teams you would wish to.
Question: Can Tsubasa learn his Skywing Shot by levelling up?
Answer: I'm not sure, but i don't think he can!
